This week on The Brink, Ringo and Ridgey attempt to breathe their way to enlightenment—without passing out—as they sit down with legendary breathwork master Dan Brulé. Dan isn’t just any breath coach; he’s trained Navy SEALs, Olympic athletes, and yes, even Tony Robbins, who was so impressed he wrote the foreword to Dan’s best-selling book Just Breathe. If Tony Robbins is the godfather of self-help, Dan is the Yoda of the inhale. From the very first puff—sorry, breath—Dan breaks down why this ancient, involuntary act might just be the key to managing stress, healing trauma, and accessing peak performance. He walks us through practices like rebirthing (which is not as weird as it sounds), breath holding (which is exactly what it sounds like), and his golden formula for transformation: awareness, relaxation, and conscious breathing. You’ll also hear how the breath impacts anxiety, emotional management, and why hyperventilating isn’t always a red flag. As usual, Ringo and Ridgey find a way to mix depth with a dash of idiocy—because nothing says spiritual growth like two grown men trying to out-breathe each other. But behind the laughs is a serious message: breath is free, it’s always with you, and it might just be the most underrated superpower we’ve got. So whether you're looking for calm, clarity, or just want to stop sounding like a chain smoker walking up stairs, this episode delivers. You’ll come for the banter, but you might just leave with a new lease on life—and hopefully, breathing through your nose. Links: Dan's Website: Breath Mastery Dan's Instagram

Welcome to the weMove podcast. In this episode, we return to the world of the nervous system, this time through the lens of breathwork. Our guest is Jamie Clements, founder of The Breath Space and host of the Human Nature Podcast. We dive into Jamie's backstory and how it shaped the work he does today.Breathwork has been a core focus for weMove since the early days, through conversations with pioneers like Patrick McKeown, Brian Mackenzie, Wim Hof, Dan Brulé, and others. While it's often presented as a cure-all for traumas, ailments, and more, it's also a tool that requires respect. Breathwork has immense potential to both enhance well-being and, if misused, unlock unintended consequences.Jamie's perspective on this stood out to me. He brings a balanced, thoughtful approach, recognizing breathwork's power while advocating for its responsible use. As part of a younger generation exploring and guiding these practices, Jamie's work offers valuable insights for anyone curious about this space.Jamie also collaborates with James Dowler (featured in a recent episode), so if you're interested in going deeper into breathwork or nervous system work, there's a connection worth exploring.Big thanks to Jamie for sharing his time and insights. From Chris and me, Peace.https://www.instagram.com/jamieclements_/?hl=enhttps://thebreathspace.co.uk/Human Nature podcasthttps://open.spotify.com/show/2a0QLnrjsJ8CrN5D36w9Ob?si=b41195a28a544ea6 https://www.instagram.com/human.nature.pod/?hl=en

This week's guest helps people detox, destress, and discover while surrounded by nature. Through meditation, breathwork, yoga, workshops, and more, he creates an environment of rejuvenation. Joining the show this week is Founder of Onze Retreats, Leon Emmett!Leon dials in from the Jungle to join Host Dan Ryan on a journey of hospitality and self reflection. Leon shares the importance of motivating others through action, the need to trust the process, and why everyone should spend time outside of their comfort zone. Takeaways: The deepest feeling of hospitality can be felt when you are in someone's family home. When someone opens their home to you, they are opening their heart to you and showing warmth and unconditional love. Healing retreats allow people an opportunity for more than just a relaxing day of yoga and meditation. Creating a welcoming space allows for guests to self reflect and realize their own potential for growth. Despite motivational words, many people need to make the decision to change of their own volition. Rather than merely provide motivation, living your values and inspiring others through your own actions can help them take the next step. Hospitality attracts people from all walks of life, and having services to reflect that is important. Having a written list or experience portfolio allows guests to customize their ideal retreat. As life ebbs and flows, it's important to trust the process. As there are highs and lows, observe what is happening and choose to be in the middle. Making the best of your situation helps keep you grounded. It's only when you're out of your comfort zone when you start to experience what's possible. Through guidance, you can try new experiences and open yourself up to vulnerability, paving the way for improvement. In this episode together with Robbin van der Crussen we discuss how breathwork can help one access traumas and emotions, in order to integrate them. From extreme sports such as skateboarding, kitesurfing, gymnastics, freerunning and thaiboxing Robbin gradually transitioned into meditation, breathwork and plant medicines. For over a decade he has been making his own electronic music and traveling the whole world, connecting with people through music, dance and playfulness. Outside of the music scene, his continuous self-explorative work led him to breathwork. His life shifted rather radically upon realizing the power to control our health and emotional states that we unlock just by breathing in certain ways. Deeply inspired, he put his body and mind through 6 months of wild experimenting and playing with the breath on his own before he found himself in Czech Republic studying Holotropic Breathwork. Additionally, he joined a course with legendary breathworker Dan Brulé in Oslo. For 2,5 years he has been facilitating large groups as well as individual breathwork, movement, sound journey experiences around the world. Through his own personal work in combination with evolving with his audience, a mission to be of service to the best of his ability has established itself. Power Quotes From The Show Stress Can Help You Grow "Stress is the number one killer. It weakens your body to where you can't fight things off. But it's also the number one thing that causes growth. You put barbell plates on you and you're stressing your body to create growth. The same thing that's the number one killer is the number one thing that causes growth. It's all a choice." - Steven Jaggers What Is Your Trauma Asking You? "Something traumatic happens to you, something stressful happens to you, it's a question to you. It's a question to your organism. You can either answer the question or you suppress the question, you don't answer it, you don't look at it. And the question answered is finding a new adaptive pattern and how you grow from this. The question not answered creates symptoms. It gets suppressed, repressed, maybe even to the point that it's a depressed disease of energy flowing through your system." - Steven Jaggers Allow Yourself to Feel The Highs And The Lows "Many people are alive but they're actually not alive. They've cut themselves off from feeling the lows, therefore they've cut themselves off from feeling the highs and they're left in this narrow window of existence which would be a flat line that is a living death. So first realization the world is craving to feel because our somatic sensations are felt sensations, it's how we're born into the world, it's our birthright. It takes more energy from our system to push things down than it does to feel. Numbness is an active process. It takes more energy from your system to maintain a state of numbness. It takes more energy for you to push it down because in your natural state when you're born into the world as a child, you feel everything." - Steven Jaggers Links From Today's Show Somatic Breathwork - Use code "JOSH15" for 15% off the training 545 Ananda | You Were Born To Shine: Access Your Chakra Systems To Live A Thriving Life BREATHE | Breath & Wellness: 21 Day Guided Program - 25% with the code "PODCAST25" Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) Stanislav Grof Jordan Peterson It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle by Mark Wolynn Paul Chek: All is God The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk Gary Strauss - Life Energy Institute 538 John Wineland | A New Masculine Paradigm: Leading With Love, Living Your Truth + Healing The World Peter Levine 290 Dan Brulé: 40 Years of Breath Mastery For Body, Mind, & Soul 487 Dumbing Down Dad? Empezarás a sentirte menos estresado. Welcome to my new shorter Friday show, where I answer a question about nasal breathing that I received following my recent episode on breathwork with Dan Brulé. The question was from a swimmer who wanted to know how to nose breathe while swimming. And, since it's rather challenging for a swimmer to avoid mouth breathing, my advice was to concentrate on nasal breathing when they're not swimming by practicing breathwork drills before and after their swim and taping their mouth at night to promote nose breathing during sleep. I also explain why runners might need cushioned footwear and advise baseball players to avoid exercises such as kipping pull-ups and Olympic deadlifts that would put them at risk of shoulder injuries.Support the show (https://www.coachjoedi.com/joe-recommends )
Dan Brulé is a master of pranayama and a firm believer in the transformative power of the breath. He's been teaching breathing techniques for over fifty years, and he's personally trained over 250,000 people, including elite warriors, martial artists, and Olympic athletes. Dan is the author of Just Breathe: Master Breathwork for Success in Life, Love, Business, and Beyond. His mission is to spread the word about using the breath as a tool to enhance our potential and promote emotional healing using a variety of breathing techniques that were previously only known to a select group of mystics, warriors, and gurus. We chat about how the breath acts as a bridge between the conscious and the unconscious mind, and we discuss how conscious breathing helps open up the heart. Dan also explains how the breath can release deeply stored trauma, help cure depression, and activate our hidden potential.Support the show (https://www.coachjoedi.com/joe-recommends )
This is a throwback episode to a powerful session I released way back on April 13th 2016. It's been 5 years since! It felt very weird listening to my voice in this episode because I've evolved as an interviewer and communicator since then. Since many of you have been listening to this show from the very beginning, its an opportunity to look back and feel grateful for how far we've come...This is also a special episode because in this episode, Dan Brule – introduced me to so many different concepts, ideas and stories about breathwork – that sort of laid the seed for my career as a breathwork instructor.I hope you enjoy this episode and thank you so much for coming on this ride with me! BREATHE M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Power Quotes From The Show How Poor Breathing Impacts Digestion, The Lower Back And Stress "Our inability to inhale and expand comes from muscular corsets or emotional corsets. If you're bracing your mid-area because you're stressed or think it's good for your body or you're guarding because you're ashamed of your physical appearance, that's actually going to negatively impact your digestion, lower back, and you can't take a deep breath. I understand that inhaling and letting yourself expand can feel weird and vulnerable; however, once you exhale you'll realize just how much muscle is there and how much stronger your core is when you actually inhale, expand, and exhale to contract and narrow your body." Combating Physical and Mental Fatigue With Breathwork "If you've been sitting at a computer and find yourself so exhausted at the end of the day but you don't know why that's being brain tired because you haven't been moving. You've been sitting for hours and probably not in a good posture and most likely not breathing well. You get energy from your breath because oxygen is cell fuel and if you're not breathing well while sitting, you're going to get tired. Another kind of tired comes from your breathing muscles not being strong enough. You might have good cardio and be active but if your breathing muscles aren't strong, just like any muscle in the body, you're going to get fatigued faster." - Dr. Belisa Vranich Connecting, Letting Go And Forgiving With The Breath "Letting yourself focus on deep inhales and expand with each breath means you're going to be able to connect better. Being able to exhale and really exhale well means you're going to be able to let go of things and forgive. We all need to be more intuitive, more creative, more flexible, and more forgiving and the breath can give you that." - Dr. Belisa Vranich Links From Today's Show Breathing for Warriors Breathe: The Simple, Revolutionary 14-Day Program to Improve Your Mental and Physical Health The Breathing Class The Ash Center for Comprehensive Medicine How to breathe | Belisa Vranich | TEDxManhattanBeach Cured Nutrition Lao Tzu Brian Sabin 290 Dan Brulé 249 Niraj Naik 292 Pavel Stuchlik Bruce Lipton Stan Grof Wim Hof 086 Mark Divine Dr. Belisa on Cesar 911 Vince Lombardi inspirational quotes The Fighter's Mind: Inside the Mental Game by Sam Sheridan Robert Yang Jill Miller Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes BREATHE M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Dr. Belisa Vranich Facebook Instagram Twitter LinkedIn YouTube About Dr. Belisa Vranich A clinical psychologist and a leading expert in mental health and fitness, Dr. Belisa Vranich is the author of Breathe: The Simple, Revolutionary 14-Day Program to Improve your Mental and Physical Health (St. Martin’s Press/Hay House). Dan Brulé is a lynchpin in the breathing world. He was literally destined to teach breathing after being inspired as a four year old in school when his teacher read a passage from the Book of Genesis: “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Not everyones go to book, but it created a fascination with breath that led Dan to become an X Ray technician (his first X ray being a patients lungs), a Special Forces diver, a deep sea diver aswell as travelling the world learning the Eastern traditions of breathwork from Chi Gong to Pranayama aswell as Holotropic breathwork with Stanislav Grov and Rebirthing with Leonard Or. And it was Dan's book Just Breathe, which brought him to our attention, connecting many of the dots we had discovered in our conversations with other Breathwork teachers and guides. He has done it all, so it is fitting that he is called the Bruce Lee of breathwork by Tony Robins (the world-renowned motivational/transformational speaker). In this podcast Dan describes Breath and breathwork as the Swiss Army knife of life, the tool of our day and the single most important thing you can do to become healthier in your body and your mind. He encourages us to go and explore how we breathe, why we breathe and how we breathe differently in different situations. Like the practitioners from ancient times knew and modern day science is discovering. Developing awareness for how we breath and a daily breathwork practice does and will change your life for the better. Dan's studies are summed up in his concise framework for transforming your Self. Wake Up, Let go and Take Charge. Dan's relaxed style and inspiring stories encourages us to develop a relationship with our breath to develop our concentration and focus, to become sharper in thinking and clearer in thought. In essence take control of your breath and you will take back control of your health and your life. As Dan says: “ you can breathe to get rid of headaches, or you can breath to see God. What do you wanna do?!” Visit our website weMove.world for Dans tips on getting started with some simple exercises that you can do anytime and anywhere.
Considered the “Bruce Lee of breathing” by the Olympic athletes and martial artists he trains – Dan Brulé is a pioneer in the breathwork movement. With his combined medical and military backgrounds Dan has been promoting the benefits of breathwork for both health and peak performance since the early 1970s. In this animated discussion, Dan takes us on a ride through the potential of each breath – from awakening creativity to controlling emotions and even treating PTSD.

It changes our way of thinking, changes our perception, and changes our life. Anything along the lines of natural tools such as breathwork, meditation, or sound that create endogenous DMT is always going to be in the right direction." - John Chavez Cleansing The Brain Through Breathwork "From what I've seen, the quickest way to get in an altered state is breathwork. It's faster than hypnosis or meditation. Deep breathing also correlates with the cleansing of the brain. It's like DMT acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory; so, producing these sorts of chemicals would seem to be optimal for the brain. There's enough evidence to show that endogenous DMT produced by proper breathwork creates more optimized fluid dynamics in the brain and thus allowing us to kind of clear out debris; not only when we sleep but also when we're awake too." - John Chavez Unpacking What 'Source' Is "We have the idea that we're disconnected from everything but there is a source, something powering everything on this earth. 'Source' is like the Sun; without it, everything on this plant will die. Whether directly or indirectly, we need it because it's the driving foundation of life." - John Chavez Links From Today's Show 308 Dr. Edith Ubuntu Chan Cured Nutrition 300 Special Edition: Top Lessons Learned From 300+ Shows 299 Christa Orecchio 249 Niraj Naik The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho DMT: The Spirit Molecule by Rick Strassman Joe Rogan Podcast DMT: The Spirit Molecule (2010) Rick Strassman ‘Mystical’ Psychedelic Compound Found in Normal Brains Vipassana Meditation – A Spartan Race For The Mind Wim Hof 305 Anthony DiClementi Rythmia 196 Aubrey Marcus 275 Paul Chek Nick McLaughlin of Stationary Astronaut Gabor Mate Terence McKenna PlantMedicine.org Plant Medicine Podcast 247 Dr. Lynn Marie Morski 290 Dan Brulé 241 Dr. Dan Engle 325 Dr. Josh Flowers & Dr. Dan Engle Revive Treatment Centers of America Alan Watts 199 Peter Crone Dr. Joe Dispenza 311 Mark Wolynn 073 Kute Blackson M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Questions For The Lion Tamer Part 1 Questions For The Lion Tamer part 2 John Chavez DMT Quest Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube About John Chavez John Chavez believes that communication of mystical and supernormal experiences is just as important as the scientific exploration of these occurrences. There needs to be a bridge between scientific results and the ability of the general public to understand these results in a straightforward manner. In this digital age of media, he believes that a widely distributed ongoing docuseries can provide a tool to accomplish this goal. After having operated as an independent researcher for 5 years and having written 2 books titled “Questions for the Lion Tamer: Delving into the Mystery that is DMT” and “Questions for the Lion Tamer 2: Swimming in Electric Endohuasca”, he believes that it is now time to take everything to the next level. DMT Research This entire field of research has been lagging tremendously since the 1970’s financially speaking. It is embarrassing that with an annual budget of over $39 billion dollars that the NIH still refuses to allocate any amount to endogenous DMT research. One would figure that if the NIH can spend $3.2 million studying the effects of alcohol in monkeys, it can surely spend the same amount on a field that the general public is extremely interested in such as endogenous DMT. In any case, it’s been estimated that there are nearly 2,500 billionaires in the world and likely over 50,000 hundred millionaires (people with $100,000,000 or more). There is enough private funding out there collecting dust that could change this endogenous DMT research industry in a very short time frame. About DMT Quest DMT Quest is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is focused on raising money and awareness for endogenous DMT research. This organization operates under a strict 100% transparency code in which all fundraising generated by DMT Quest will be publicly disclosed on our website and any expenses/allocations will be publicly posted as well (in a straightforward manner). This company was created in order to solve the problem of a lack of funding for endogenous DMT research. While a psychedelic renaissance of sorts is taking place currently (2019) in which companies such as MAPS have raised upwards of nearly $50 million for exogenous psychedelic studies, the endogenous research capital has been minimal at best. Based on internet statistics, the general public appears extremely interested in the discussion and results of endogenous DMT studies. DMT Quest's Mission Our mission is to create a brand that can assist in driving research funds into this specific field in order to satisfy the demands of the public and develop a greater understanding of human biology and potential. You're allowing the body and the wisdom of the body, whether it be the upper abdomen or the neurons in the heart, the opportunity to interact with the film that you're watching in your mind. So, when you have the ability to pause with your breath and feel your intention, you're taking your intelligence to a whole other level that's well above the normal dialogue of folks who are disconnected from their breath." - Ed Harrold Links From Today's Show Organifi Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes 290 Dan Brulé M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Ed TV Life With Breath by Ed Harrold Ed Harrold Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube LinkedIn About Ed Harrold Ed Harrold is an author, motivational speaker, inspirational leader, coach, and educator. The lungs wrap around the heart, and he believes this isn’t an accident. As we breathe, we’re awakening our hearts, opening them unconsciously. Just think of what we could do if we had mastery over this process. Our ears are what people think of as the listening organ, but there is an art to listening with your heart. Dan explains this idea is good because we focus on our heart while we breathe, consciously living alongside a natural connection. He also notes that this divine connectedness (a mother figure) doesn’t always communicate through our mind. She whispers through our heart, through our emotions. For Dan, the divine “mother” is an intelligence reaching towards us beyond matter. The art he speaks about is a practice. When you consider an object, don’t just look at it—breathe it in. As you listen, don’t just listen. Breathe. And the same goes for touch. This is the stuff of magic and miracles. When the outer breath (air) merges with the inner (spirit) that is when something awakens inside us.How can one approach this themselves? Unlocking this potential in their own lives? The answer, Dan says, is to approach breathing with a specific attitude. We must bring a specific quality to our breath that will unlock this power, a secret that the breath itself holds. He tells me this secret: the breath is a thread. If we follow this thread, it will lead us to the well of life within us.Dan further explains that everyone already embodies this philosophy of connectedness. We’re all one. It’s the shared experience of breath that literally connects us. Everyone, from the moment we’re born until we die, are living together in this bubble of air wrapped around Earth. He believes every great spiritual teacher spoke about the breath at some point. Now, it’s time to embody those principles the learned masters understood. When we breathe, we take those spiritual principles in hand. Whether we know it or not, it’s a simple practice that is done by shifting your mindset.Dan asks, “What would you like to create in yourself? He continues by asking us to focus on this question as we breathe. In our minds, we are now taking part in a spiritual creation process.A bit more on this teacher of mine, Dan Brule lives in Baja Mexico. If you know this area, you’re familiar with its arid, tropical climate. The desert soil is hard and packed down. When it rains here, the water just washes along the surface. However, if you turn the soil, when it rains, the earth readily drinks up the water. This soil “turning and loosening” is relaxation.Hence, Dan says that by combining breathing with relaxation, we can absorb the “water” or spirit. Without relaxation, our minds are like the desert soil, closed to the life-giving waters. Dan also notes that we cannot afford hard or feelings. Harboring these unyielding notions will cut us off from the connection to our source. Furthermore, he explains that this awareness is achieved through meditation and breathwork. The more meditative awareness we bring to the breath, the more we see our minds loosen to accept the waters of the spirit. This practice doesn’t exclude a secular view either. If the more profound parts of spiritual practice don’t suit you, you can simply imagine your favorite fragrance. As you inhale, put yourself into the pleasure of that moment. If this appeals to you, then expand further using your memories as tools. Reawaken old moments when someone expressed love to you and breathe in the warm feelings they bring. Feelings of love are never lost to us..Moreover, Dan says to reawaken moments of criticism. In their own way, people try to show love through critiques. If we can find the goodness, even in these tougher moments, then your life can drastically improve. In addition, one of Dan’s early teachers pointed out that even violence is only an illusion. It’s an immature, or even disgusting, manner of expressing love. Warped and twisted though they are, violent acts are usually driven by love.If we choose love as our lens for the world, then that is what we’ll see. With practice, the choice to turn towards love gets easier and easier. Use the tools of focus and intention setting. Remember, everything is based on perspective.Dan concludes with breath’s simplicity. Like Occam’s Razor, the simplest explanation is usually the most powerful. Keep in mind to breathe, play with your breath, and pray with your breath. To learn more about how to design your desired futures and receive a futuring journey audio meditation in either English or Spanish, visit https://DeleflorTeachings.com/futuring
Breath is life! After 25 years in a health and fitness career, Rebecca Kordecki always felt along her journey that she was meant to do more in a different way. She was completely focused on working with people from outside in, through fitness and nutrition, but she felt that she was always meant to touch people from the inside out. Her big “Aha” moment came when she discovered breath work three years ago and she realized that she found the tool to help herself and others - from the inside out. She had been excavating through her own work and it became such a great tool that she started teaching it to her clients and in classes. She says that it has never failed her. Holly highlights how different kinds of breath work techniques are the perfect way to insert into applied mindfulness into people’s busy schedules. Rebecca shares that the beauty of breath work has so many facets that will calm, energize, induce sleep, reduce asthma, and release trauma. She suggests Box breathing, or a four by four. It goes as follows: inhale for four counts, hold for four counts, exhale for four counts doing this for six to eight cycles. There are variations that can be applied, such as inhale for four, hold for seven, exhale for eight. The point is to just BREATHE consciously! She mentions her teacher, Dan Brulé, the world's foremost expert and renowned pioneer in the field of breathwork, and leader of the worldwide Spiritual Breathing movement. She wanted to share his outlook on playing with every single breath. Play with the inhale, the hold and the exhale. Just breathe... and play! Learn more about Dan at https://www.breathmastery.com/. The biggest gift you can give yourself is a big inhale and a big sigh of relief exhale. Create space, release anxiety. Create levity. Try incorporating people in whether you’re a busy mom, salesperson, manager, leading a small group, just play with breathing together. The question they presented for audience consideration for the break was: Can I be willing and open to allowing all the possibilities and opportunities that are showing up around me right now? After the break Holly shares that she has a word of the year - this year’s word is “allowing”, which was the perfect segway for being open to the opportunities, and Rebecca’s new book that will be released in 2020: Flip Your Switch. Rebecca got the idea when she was questioned about how she came out of the childhood and addition to cocaine - what was the trick? How did you flip your switch? She feels that surviving these came through many different techniques and the book is a result of gathering her remembrance of all the things that she did to get to where she is, fulfilling her purpose. Rebecca asks, “Do you choose to stand in your story, or on your story and inspire from it and spin gold. All of these good habits will crowd out the necessity to eat junk foods and live by other poor behaviors." - Dr. Edith Ubuntu Chan The Power of Mindful Eating "When we tell people to lighten up on all levels of wellness, the first thought that comes to mind is portion control. Well, what if I tell you that you don't have to control so much? What if you naturally lightened up as a side effect of bringing a different level of presence and mindfulness to your eating. Just even eating in a state of joy and gratitude; slowing down, chewing your food, and savoring it properly. As a side effect of that, you'll naturally eat less and be way more satiated. The world is ready to breathe. Seen as something we “just do” for a long time, science has catched up in recent years and we are finally discovering the opportunity we have to hack our evolution by controlling our breath. With breathing, we can control our emotional state, our mental state, our physiology, our chemistry, our behavior and our focus. What pro athletes and artists have already implemented in their routines is now discovered by more and more people, who want to reach higher states of consciousness in all different areas. Conscious breathing heals, empowers, helps you to discover your purpose and to reach your full creative potential. Dan Brulé is one of the breathwork masters of our time and has worked with many outstanding performers, including Olympic champions, elite martial artists, leading psychotherapists, medical experts, monks, meditators and performing artists. Examples are 3 times Olympic gold medal winner, wrestler Alexandr Karelin or life coach guru Tony Robbins. He also took part in a ten-year study of breathwork with members of the Russian Academy of Science. I also learned in this interview that he has already teached breathwork in 66 countries. His mission is to turn at least one billion people to the healing, creative power and potential of breathwork. Some of the questions I ask Dan: - what is his view on the prognosis of many scientists, that AI will enable us to download ourselves in the cloud in the foreseeable future? (10:48) - how do you start to work on your breath to shape your life? (12:36) - how do you unleash your creativity with breathwork? (18:30) - how the world will change if one million people breathe consciously? (25:50) I really enjoyed this talk with Dan. I hope it will inspire you and make you take action. To end with his words: "The better you breathe, the better you live". How breath can show you the connection behind your childhood, early trauma, and the layers that you want to peel back to be able to truly express yourself. Being your own scientist through breathwork, meditation, and other wellness practices rather than just waiting for the scientific evidence to show up. Morning ritual practices including being in tune with your breath and paying attention to it for a moment as soon as you open your eyes. Psychoneuroimmunology and how you can make yourself either sick or better with the power of your thoughts. Why the nose is meant to breathe in and out air yet you can't speak, laugh, or cry through it, unlike the mouth. What you can learn about your own breathing habits and breathwork practices by observing the way babies breathe. Exploring The Power Of The Breath Breathing habits you've unconsciously become accustomed to such as breath-holding that signals the body and the lizard brain that it's in danger. The incredible impact that making an audible, vocal breath sound makes compared to the silent one for your nervous system. What thought patterns, emotions, and psychological states breathing reveals in you when you pay close enough attention to it. Why getting a handle on your emotional state is key for being exposed to devastating and stressful situations. Steps he took to help him through his son's death including using the breath as a tool for greater emotional intelligence. The power of breath as a foundation for those who work in the creative space of speaking, singing, and performing. Discovering your authentic truth when you pause, let go of the old way of being, and become aware of what is actually happening in your life. Dealing with the emotions and memories that bubble up and are released during breathwork and meditation. How the practice of relaxing his jaw during inhaling helped Tony Robbins lower his blood pressure by 15 points in a week and it never went back up after that training with Dan. Why breathing is so subjective and what matters the most are the muscles being used, what you're focusing on, and whether you're relaxed or tense rather than the rate of breath. The fact that people will sometimes get different results even though they're using the same techniques as another person. Breath Mastery "Breath mastery is learning how to use the breath as a tool, as a force, and as a bridge for health, for growth, and for change. Once you discover the power of breathwork, it's almost like you've found out that you have an arm growing out of your back and now you realize it's there and all the amazing things you can do with it. We've tapped into the power of breath enough to survive but we haven't entered a process of higher consciousness with it." - Dan Brulé Coming Back To Our True Selves "The breath is a way to come back to who we really are but people don't use their breath enough or correctly. They kind of practice it through the exercises they learned in a yoga book but they don't integrate it into their life as a strategy like they do with brushing their teeth, taking a shower, or eating. Breathwork should be on the level of those activities that need to be done consciously every day but people don't see its potential yet." - Dan Brulé Breathing In Energy "When we inhale, we're charging ourselves with energy. Take the time to actually breathe in and consciously focus on it. You're not breathing in air, you're breathing in energy. So, when you let it go of it in the exhale, you can observe how your body is responding, focus on the strongest physical feelings, and breathe into those body parts that need energy and your highest level of attention." - Dan Brulé Expressing Ourselves Through The Breath "Through the breath, we make sure that what's coming from us is coming from who we really are. Breathing gives us a chance to very consciously and deliberately connect to our inner intelligence, begin to trust it, and allow it to express through us." - Dan Brulé Links From Today's Show Organifi 086 Mark Divine Rythmia HeartMath Sandra Biskind 203 Brian Mackenzie The M21 Wellness Guide Tony Robbins Dr. Richard Brown Wim Hof Method SOMA Breath Synesthesia Breath via NOANAON Stan Graf - Holotropic Breathing Performance Breathing Rebirthing Breathwork Shamanic Breathwork Transformational Breath 365 Breathing Zone with David O'Hare Dr. Patricia Gerbarg 275 Paul Chek 055 Gay & Katie Hendricks Eckhart Tolle Dan Brulé: Mastering Breathwork For Success Just Breathe by Dan Brulé Shut Up and Breathe by Dan Brulé Breath Mastery Workshops & Membership Facebook Group - Breath Mastery Dan Brulé Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube About Dan Brulé Dan Brulé is a modern-day teacher, healer, and a world-renown pioneer in the field of Breathwork. My very special guest in this episode of the podcast “Leadership is the Competitive Advantage” is Dan Brulé, a world renowned pioneer in the field of breathwork. He has been studying, practicing and teaching breathing techniques for more than 40 years. He is a master of Prana Yoga (The Hindu Science of Breath) and of Qigong (Chinese Medical Breathing Exercises). Dan is the author of several books: “A Formula for Transformation”, “The Principles of Breath Therapy”, “Zen and the Art of Breathing”, “Stress and Breathing”, “A Brief Introduction to Chinese Medical Breathing Exercises”, “The Art and Science of Breathwork”, “Spiritual Breathing”, and the latest book being “Just Breath” (it will be published in Estonian next spring). His fascination with the power of the breath began in 1970, when as an x-ray technician at the hospital he recognized the differences of how patients took and held their breaths while getting their chest x-rays done. This experience sparked a deep interest in breathing that continued throughout his career as a paramedic, a Navy deep-sea rescue diver, and an educator for the Red Cross. As he says: “I started to realize that there is a lot hidden in person’s relationship to their breathing – therein lies their relationship to their bodies and ultimately to their life.” Listing business executives, Olympic athletes and top performing artists as his clientele, more than 100 000 people in over 45 countries apply Dan’s breathing exercises to achieve peace and success in their work and lives. Among them Tony Robbins, the world famous American motivational speaker, coach, gamechanger who also wrote a foreword to Dan’s latest book. I am incredibly honored to have had the opportunity to talk with him about the breathwork. Highly recommended. “Conscious breathing is a way to personal growth. When you are starting to control your breathing, you are actually starting to control yourself. Every emotional state, every psychological state has a corresponding breathing pattern. The way I breathe when I am calm and peaceful and happy is very different than the way I breathe when I am upset or angry or disturbed. And the magic is it works the other way too. Every time my psychological or emotional state changes, my breathing pattern changes, and it is visible. Paying attention to our breathing can help us better handle day-to-day stresses and come up with more clear-headed responses to them. Breathwork can be used before and after an important presentation or high stakes meeting, both to prepare and recover. By practicing conscious breathing, we can learn how to access our peak state. That is the advantage that the great Navy SEAL warriors, Olympic athletes and exceptional leaders get out of the breathwork. By being both aware and conscious of our breathing patterns we can take control over our states of mind. As incredible as it sounds, by changing our breathing pattern, we can even manage our bodily chemistry. When we get a handle on our breath, we get a handle on our physiology. It is a way to hack into our nervous system, even a way to hack into our immune system. That is why breathwork can also have positive effects on our heart rate, blood pressure and even how well we digest our food. Breathing is such a powerful tool to focus on in order to awaken some of our higher abilities. And it works in the same way in the battlefield, in the sports field, and also in the executive boardroom.” — Dan Brulé Listen and enjoy!
