I'm a marketing person.Mivium, led by CEO Eric Tsai, is pioneering a new wave in semiconductor technology with gallium nitride (GaN), a material poised to replace silicon in a variety of applications. GaN not only increases efficiency but also reduces energy consumption in devices, a benefit that's especially valuable as AI and data centers grow in demand. “Our process keeps our production output clean, and we don't use toxic materials,” Eric explained. This shift addresses the environmental and health issues plaguing traditional semiconductor production. The company's unique GaN production technique offers substantial benefits, from fast-switching properties to downsized device components. “GaN has a fast-switching property... and it can perform double as fast and better,” Eric said, adding that it's currently being used in chargers, with plans to expand into data centers where it can dramatically cut energy usage. These advantages make Mivium's gallium nitride a significant contender in the drive toward sustainable tech.In a promising move for both the business and potential investors, Mivium is raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on Equifund. This approach allows everyday investors to support groundbreaking tech, which Eric himself champions as a crowdfunding advocate. By sharing Mivium's journey with the public, he aims to democratize early-stage investment opportunities, giving people a chance to invest in future tech with high social and environmental value. As Mivium's crowdfunding progresses, it may inspire tech enthusiasts and impact investors alike to support a cleaner, more efficient semiconductor future.Explore GaN chargers on Amazon.tl;dr:* Eric Tsai's Mivium focuses on gallium nitride (GaN) to replace silicon, improving efficiency and sustainability.* GaN's fast-switching properties make devices smaller, more powerful, and less energy-intensive.* Mivium's unique, clean GaN production process avoids the toxic materials typical in semiconductors.* Nevada's tech-friendly policies support Mivium's plans to establish a new “gallium valley” in Reno.* By crowdfunding, Eric brings everyday investors into Mivium's journey, making early-stage investing accessible. How to Develop Effective Communication As a SuperpowerEric's superpower is his ability to communicate complex ideas in relatable ways. As a seasoned marketing professional, he has mastered the art of translating technical concepts into simple analogies that resonate with diverse audiences, especially in high-tech fields like semiconductors. This skill allows him to bridge gaps in understanding, helping people grasp the value and impact of innovations, even without specialized knowledge. In today's episode, Eric shared how he explains the intricate science behind Mivium's gallium nitride (GaN) technology. Comparing GaN to "flour" for baking, he helps people visualize Mivium's product as a better alternative to silicon. By presenting the science as an everyday item, he enables audiences to connect with Mivium's mission. This analogy makes it easier for potential investors and customers to understand GaN's advantages, such as improved energy efficiency, which contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable tech future.Tips for Developing Effective Communication as a Superpower:* Think from the Other Person's Perspective: Approach communication by considering the audience's interests and needs. Tailor your message so they feel you genuinely care about them and their concerns.* Use Analogies to Simplify Complex Ideas: Find familiar comparisons, like Eric's “flour” analogy, to help people understand technical or abstract concepts.* Tell a Compelling Story: Craft your messaging as a narrative. A good story resonates more and helps audiences remember your message.* Conduct Surveys and Gather Feedback: Regularly survey customers and prospects to ensure your message aligns with their needs and experiences, making necessary adjustments to improve clarity.By following Eric Tsai's example and advice, you can make effective communication a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileEric Tsai (he/him):CEO, Mivium, Inc.About Mivium, Inc.: Mivium develops advanced semiconductor materials to meet the current and future needs of society. [18:00] How they extend their relationships beyond just the mortgage buying process to cultivate repeat customers and referrals. [24:00] How Heidi utilizes tactics like storytelling and social media to differentiate Silex from other companies and connect with their clients and potential leads. [29:00] Aransas and Dave give tips on how Silex can continue to connect with their customers in different ways as social media and marketing evolves. [36:00] Dave suggests collecting stories from Heidi and her customers to help people connect to the company and for Silex to get a deeper understanding of customer needs. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Marketing is important for growth, but loyalty is the byproduct of the experience. There's a big difference between advice-giving and understanding. "All Problems Are Communications Problems." This is Greg's go-to phrase when it comes to working with and leading others. Marlene actually beats Greg to the punch this week when they talk with this week's guest, Heather Ritchie. Heather is the Chief Knowledge and Business Development Officer at Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP in Toronto, and as her title suggests, she wears multiple leadership hats at her firm. In her recent ILTA KM article, "12 Ways Marketing & Business Development Can Leverage Library & Knowledge Management Teams," Ritchie walks us through the value of collaborating between the Marketing/Business Development, Knowledge Management, and Library operations of a law firm. Knowing who brings what talent to the table is key to creating stable and successful environment which results in wins for the law firm. How Is Your Business Changing the Legal Industry? In part two of our three part series, we hear from four more providers of legal industry products on how they are changing the industry. This week we hear from: Ben Shelley - Intelligent Voice Rick Merrill - Gavelytics Serena Wellen - LexisNexis Context Matt Spiegel - Lawmatics Information Inspirations: Warning: Greg goes to a bit of a dark place this week after a dreadful morning of social media experiences. Whether it was reviewing "memories" in Facebook, or the Twitter arguments of how LegalWeek and alt.legal are echo chambers for the elites (or are they?), or how racists Tweets from well known political leaders caused one of Greg's favorite podcast hosts to break down in a recent episode.... It's been interesting. Will Greg leave Twitter? (Vegas says "not likely.") Marlene goes total "Geek" this week with her inspiration of "Conversations with Robots: Voice, Smart Agents & the Case for Structured Content." She explains where we are with our current web interactions, where we were supposed to be by now, and where we are going. If you are a fan of understanding how information is structured, searched, accessed, and enhanced on the web... this geektacular explanation is for you. Greg and Marlene, as well as Toby Brown and other 3 Geeks' members will be at the ARK Library conference in New York next week. Ron Friedmann wrote a preview of his talk on "Information is Power + Profit" on how the old adage of "Information is Power" also brings about profit. We hope to see you there on the 21st! In this week's episode, we interview Hong Gyu Shin (from Korea) of Shin Gallery and Vajra Kingsley who works at Art Media Holdings as the Director of Marketing & Business Development. I met Vajra on a Six Degrees Society retreat to the Hamptons. Art Media Holdings has: Art News, Art in American, Modern Magazine, Antiques Magazine. Vajra - What does a typical week look like for you? Art Media Holdings is trying to rewrite how people understand publishing. People aren't reading how they used to. The concept of longford digestion has gone away because we don't have the time/don't make the time. Vajra is focused on new ways to engage with their audience. Whether that is VR experience or create an evening that takes the art to a new level. This is important because education around arts & culture has to shift if people are going to invest in it. Going to a museum as a child isn't enough anymore to get them to buy and invest in their 20s & 30s in the way their parents did. The experiential partnerships she is working on will pay off in 20 years when someone says, I had a great experience at The Apollo Circle at The Metropolitan Museum of Art where I got to see the art come to life in a new way. Collecting as we know it now will change. Shin - How did you start your art gallery? Founded in 2013, 3 spaces are going to convert to one large space by March 2019. He started the gallery on the Lower East Side of Manhattan when he was a Sophomore in College. They represent brands from Israel, Sweden, Brazil, Switzerland, Korea, etc. Shin - How long does it take to prepare for a show? 1 show goes for 6 weeks and putting them together takes 1-3 months. Shin - What was an out-of-the-box exhibit that you curated? They created a massage parlor similar to Chinatown. They also painted the calls black and invited people to come and graffiti the walls to recreate the CBGB bathrooms. Vajra - What goes into putting on an art event? Finding the appropriate partner (fine art insurance or major banks), what is the message, who is the community. Is it top 200 collectors, people who haven't experienced the art world, etc. In choosing the venue, you have to think about the right aesthetic and atmosphere for the event. It needs to be inspiring and engaging. Then content, in the space so people understand why they are there and the purpose of the event. How do you discover new artists? You have to be open. It can be in the coffee shop, at a party, at an art gallery, direct message on social media, etc. Look up and don't get too focused in what you're doing. Go outside the norm. If an artist is so talented, even if the artist doesn't promote their artwork, people will find the artwork. Vajra - What are the different roles in the art world? From majoring in art, she thought she would become a curator. There is the gallery side working in sales, the institution side working at a museum and work under curators, there is the communications side working in social media, philanthropy and foundation work, etc. You are protected from the art market working on the philanthropy and foundation side which allows you to have integrity and not get pushed around on the business side and you can focus on an artists vision. As media is growing, the roles & opportunities in the art world will continue to expand. Vajra: What has been the biggest lesson you've learned in your position? Know what you're not good at and when to ask for help, even when you think you can do it all. Vajra: What is the best way to get into the art world? Attend talks & lectures outside of the traditional art space (at Columbia University, The Whitney Museum, etc), conferences, be curious, what are the different jobs that exist and what jobs are emerging. Her role didn't exist --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/delia-folk8/support

Video marketing is one of the hottest online marketing trends, and it has proven itself to be a powerful tool in real estate. How can social media and content marketing help us build trust and authority? Why is it important to constantly learn new things in a shifting industry? How can we use the law of reciprocity to get more referrals? In this episode, Christine Carlo George talks about her journey and what it takes to succeed with video marketing. I never want to be the smartest person in the room. I’m constantly looking to learn from other people. -Christine Carlo-George Takeaways + Tactics One way we can reach people more easily is by becoming an authority in our niche. One of the best strategies for doing so is to use social media platforms and content marketing. In an industry where technology has changed many of the ways we communicate and generate leads, it’s vital for us to have a student mindset and refrain from assuming that we’re the smartest person in the room. One of the best tactics for attracting more referrals involves providing value to other agents. We have to give referrals and find ways for helping others before we ask for help. At the beginning of the episode, we talked about building trust, giving value, and how people are more likely to share what worked and what didn’t for them in an industry where the entrepreneurial mindset is present. We also shared insights on: How video marketing can help us position ourselves as experts Why we don’t need expensive equipment to get started How we can benefit from interviewing people from other industries as well Video marketing is one of the best ways to share information and build trust. Because it’s a better attention-grabber than many other forms of marketing, it will probably never go away. As a result, more agents should invest their time in this form of content marketing to build trust and position themselves as authorities in their niche.
