Jared and Nick explain how that ecosystem fed the alt-right surge into 2016 and created QAnon, which flipped the script and pinned the same crimes these files keep exposing on everyone else. Of course codewords are found in the Epstein Library on the DOJ website, as are news articles and all other bits of information found to be relevant to official investigations. But codewords about hotdogs, pizza, and ice cream do not prove “pizza gate” to be a real conspiracy, since the base of said theory is factually untrue. Interestingly, there is one document which notes how “pizza gate” was employed to discredit victims of human trafficking and sex slavery and to undermine the reality of “spirit cooking.” The use of words like “goyim” or “goyum” are found in approximately 50 searches in the DOJ archive, yet nearly all are part of the same chain of documents and most are found in news articles. They are not commonly employed by Epstein or anyone else in the files, with exception to Peggy Siegal. Peggy apparently didn't bother using code, asking in one email if someone desired a baby boy or girl. Another document details the Great Work of alchemy, a coven, pints of Mormon blood, and a fertility ritual. In another, one victim says they were raped by numerous presidents and witnessed a baby (babies) being killed, torn apart, and eaten on a yacht. They also witnessed blacks being forced to have sex with blonde girls who were being beaten until bloody. These are just a few of the details which reinforce the stereotypes and the historical accusations against Jewish elites. The kidnapping of children, the draining of their blood, the cannibalism, the running of interracialpornography, etc, and, as reported by the above witness, the eating a feces. She's our guest today. Cook focuses on the travails of two middle-aged women following the January 6 Capitol riot. By spending years befriending and talking with Tammy Butry and Yvonne St. Cyr, Cook is able to document the impacts of childhood trauma and systemic neglect—as well as diverse personality quirks—that can drive folks toward QAnon.  They are starseeds. They are mama bears. They are on a divine mission to destroy the matrix and usher in the Great Awakening. For them, the algorithms were oracles, reinforcing isolation and radicalization by providing a sense of purpose to the purposeless, and visibility to the invisible. A recent viral video has informed people that many alternative media influencers are creating a space where controversial subjects can be discussed, but only for the purposes of creating a database of dissent. The video then goes on to assert totally ridiculous conspiracies--the government will cut the power to arrest these people--that discredits the initial idea. The viral nature of the video itself is suspicious because this show has covered the history of such counter-intelligence operations for over a decade without any special promotion given online. The new book The Conspiracists: Women, Extremism, and the Lure of Belonging by Noelle Cook offers an unusually intimate look at why seemingly bizarre conspiracy worlds that involve starseeds, ascended masters, and shadowy cabals are powerfully compelling even when they damage the lives of believers. Rather than taking a detached academic approach, Cook traces how white, middle-aged women were pulled deeper into conspiratorial belief systems in the years leading up to and after January 6, through online communities, the pandemic, personal upheaval, and a New Age spiritual subculture fused with far-right politics. The book follows Cook's long, complicated relationship with two women in particular: Yvonne St. Cyr and Tammy Butry. Yvonne, from Idaho, sought structure in the Marines after a turbulent childhood, then found a home in the world of conspirituality, where politics becomes divine destiny and January 6 becomes a “spiritual war.” Tammy, from Pennsylvania, carries a history of trauma and instability, including seeing how the real-world betrayal of the “Kids for Cash” scandal harmed her children, making QAnon's “save the children” framing feel emotionally plausible. Together, their stories show how conspiracism can function as belonging, meaning, and an explanation big enough to encompass their pain. Travis and Jake talk to Noelle about how her book came together, her relationship with the two subjects, and why conspiracist movements like QAnon can appeal to women over fifty years old. A handful of videos on social media depict a recent gathering, reportedly in Georgia, where a group of people were gathered to chant “Atlanta” is “Atlantis.” Supposedly they were there to create an “energy vortex” in order to summon the spirit of Atlantis and reclaim the city for black people. What exactly is this supposed to mean?Atlanta was founded in 1837 as a railroad terminus originally named "Terminus,” because the city marked the end of the Western & Atlantic Railroad. It was renamed "Marthasville" in 1843 and then changed to "Atlanta" in 1845. Some believe the city name is a shorthand for “Atlantica,” as in the Atlantic Ocean. Others believe the city was named after Atalanta, a mythologized heroin known for her speed and independence (the wild boar hunt and race against her suitors) which were qualities of the growing rail hub that is Atlanta. The mythical land and concept of Atlantis in some ways even predates Plato, though he is credited with its story. Writing in his Timaeus and Critias Plato derived the Atlantis story from Solon, an Athenian lawmaker who learned of the same from an elderly priest in the land of Egypt at the Temple of Sais. At the time, around 630-560 BC, the records were already at least 8,000 years old. Reportedly a global cataclysm destroyed Atlantis sometime between 9,600 to 11,600 years ago. Later on Francis Bacon termed his ideal city the New Atlantis or Platonopolis. The timeframe noted by Plato places the destruction within the window of the Younger Dryas, 12,900 to 11,700 years ago (10,900-9,7000 BC). It's one thing to be unaware of seemingly lost, drowned or buried history, but another to be so shockingly unaware of basic mythology and recent local history. It is understandable so many are disenfranchised by the lies and ego of mainline historical narratives, but the turn to Q-Anon, Flat Earth, Tataria, and World Fair conspiracies appears to be another layer of disinformation rather than the truth.
