Robert and Mick discuss the uniquely infuriating facets of air travel, and why it is important to keep your head, and your sense of humor, even when nothing goes your way. In Day 194 of Orchot Tzaddikim, The Ways of the Righteous, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe continues the Gate of Fear of Heaven with a fascinating comparison between the human being and the universe itself. If mankind reflects Hashem in a tiny and limited way, then the structure of the human body can likewise be understood as a miniature reflection of the greater world. The Orchot Tzaddikim draws parallels between the heavens and the human body: the skull resembles the heavenly firmament; the palate creates divisions within the body just as the firmament separates the waters; and the life-giving soul resides within and directs the body. Just as the universe is governed by the One Creator, the many organs and systems of the human body are unified and directed by one life-force.The author continues this imagery by comparing the seven openings of the head—two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, and the mouth—to the heavenly luminaries and planets. The larger message is that the human being is a remarkable microcosm of Hashem's creation. The more carefully we contemplate ourselves and the world around us, the more opportunities we have to recognize the wisdom embedded throughout creation.Rabbi Wolbe then turns from anatomy to character. Just as the animal kingdom contains gentle creatures as well as predators, human beings can develop very different qualities. Some live peacefully and compassionately, while others behave like predatory animals—using their strength to hurt or take advantage of others. The crucial difference is that we can choose. Hashem created the abilities and forces within creation, but human beings decide how those powers will be expressed. We can use what Hashem has given us constructively or destructively. Fear of Heaven therefore means not merely marveling at creation, but recognizing our responsibility within it and consciously choosing what kind of person we wish to become._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on March 23, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on August 28, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! As we have named what our spouses cannot carry for us, now we turn the corner to the best gift your marriage never knew it needed, and it is not a date night or a new technique, it is a full you. If your spouse cannot give you your worth, your aliveness, or your sense of purpose, then where do these things actually come from? Christa explores the needs that do not disappear when we stop asking our spouse to be our everything, and the things only we can tend for ourselves with the SPARKS analogy she uses, to help you find your way back to your own joy, your own worth, your own inner growth, and your own relationship with God, where we are fully seen even when the people around us are depleted. Far from being one more burden, she shows why this is a gift: when you come to your marriage full rather than empty, you free your spouse from a job they were always going to fail at, and you free yourself from the ache of waiting. With practical ways to begin tending your own soul this week, this is a freeing turn toward wholeness! Watch on YouTube! We've all been told to “feel our feelings,” but what does that actually mean, and how do you do it? Forrest talks with trauma therapist Simone Saunders about how to go from knowing your patterns to being able to do something about them when things get intense. They discuss what your nervous system does when it decides you're not safe, why the tools you've collected go offline in exactly the moments you need them, and how a sense of agency changes that equation. When the kids need everything, there is often very little left over for the marriage, and yet if our family is going to make it, fighting for it is your work to do. To this end, Christa welcomes Abbey Howe, theater graduate, beloved Enneagram voice, and the mind behind memes that have made so many of us laugh and feel seen on IG and YouTube, for a real talk about marriage in the thick of the parenting years. Abbey is living this season herself, adjusting to the genuine demands of raising a little one, and she brings both honesty and hope to this convo in her 3-4 pairing. The research is clear that marital satisfaction often dips when children are young, with less time, less sleep, and less connection to go around, and yet the couples who stay intentional come through these years with a bond that grows deeper, not weaker. Together, Christa and Abbey talk about what a spouse can and cannot carry in this season, why a parent has to tend our own self-care rather than wait for the marriage to refill us completely, and how learning to play again, to laugh and lighten up, can bring life back to both a weary parent and a tired marriage. If you are deep in the parenting years or want to remember how to bless someone in this season as you offer wisdom, this one will meet you right where you are! Watch on YouTube, too! If you're training hard, eating well, and still watching your waist thicken, I want you to hear this: you are not lazy, and your metabolism is not broken. Something else is going on, and once you see it, belly fat stops feeling like a mystery you can't crack. So I called in four people I trust most on this, Ben Azadi, Dr Sarah Berry, Cynthia Thurlow, and Mary Claire Haver. Together we get into why cortisol parks fat right around your middle, how losing estrogen quietly reroutes fat from your hips to your belly, and why the exact same meal spikes your blood sugar far more after menopause than it did before. We go deep on the pieces most women never get told about, the muscle you're losing, the gut and estrobolome shifts, and the insulin exposure that makes this fat feel so stubborn. Then I hand you the fix. My five levers, in the order that actually works, from breaking up long sitting to resistance training, smart HIIT, whole-food carbs, and protecting your sleep and stress. And I tell you honestly where fasted training helps and where it just becomes another way to punish yourself. If you're a busy woman over 40 who's done with "eat less, move more" and wants to know which lever your body needs first, this one's for you. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN - Does cortisol cause belly fat in women over 40? - Why does fat move to your belly during menopause? - Is menopause belly fat caused by a slow metabolism? - What is visceral fat and why is it dangerous? - Can you gain visceral fat even if the scale doesn't move? - Why do post-menopausal women have higher blood sugar spikes? - How does insulin resistance drive stubborn belly fat? - Does the gut microbiome affect body composition in midlife? - How does breaking up sitting improve insulin sensitivity? - Does resistance training help you lose belly fat after 40? - Does HIIT reduce abdominal fat in women? - Does fasted training help burn visceral fat? TIMESTAMPS - 00:00 Why Cortisol Drives Stubborn Belly Fat In Women Over 35 - 03:00 Insulin Resistance, Estrogen Loss And Why Menopause Moves Fat To Your Belly - 09:44 How Muscle Loss And Your Gut Control Midlife Body Composition - 16:11 Why Menopause Belly Fat Is Dangerous And How To Shift Visceral Fat - 17:59 The 5 Levers To Lose Midlife Belly Fat Without A Broken MetabolismVALUABLE RESOURCES Timeline - Support your mitochondrial health: Timeline Mitopure delivers Urolithin A at the clinically studied dose to support cellular renewal and energy production, helping counter the natural decline in mitochondrial function that comes with age.
Zazz is an wonderful actress, singer, and songwriter. She's performed in theater, concert and cabaret venues. She's appeared on Late Night with Stephen Colbert and in the HBO documentary Master Class with Bobby McFerrin, and she's toured with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Here's how she came to be a guest. I first came across Zazz when I interviewed Will Healy, a fabulous musician, about a year ago. One of the works that he gave me for the Songfest was a Zoom video by his group Shouthouse and it featured a terrific singer. I told him that I really liked the video, particularly the singer. And he told me that the singer was Zazz. And then some months later I interviewed the incredible rapper Dizzy SenZe on the show. She also performed with Shouthouse and she sent me the same video, the one with Zazz singing. I knew that I had to have her on the show and she introduced us. My featured song is my reimagined version of “The 'In' Crowd”. It's from the album PGS 7 by my band Project Grand Slam. Today, we have a metabolic health masterclass, featuring Dr. Robert Lustig, Ben Azadi, Dr. Ben Bikman, Mark Sisson, and Dr. Nick Norwitz. In today's masterclass, we explore why metabolic dysfunction is not simply a calories-in, calories-out issue or a failure of willpower, how insulin and leptin influence appetite and behavior, how early signs of insulin resistance can appear years before a diabetes diagnosis, and the important relationship between muscle, glucose regulation, and insulin sensitivity. We also discuss how movement supports fat burning without sacrificing muscle, why chronic cardio may not produce the results many people expect, and how emerging technology could provide a far more personalized approach to metabolic care. Stay tuned for today's informative discussion, where our panel of experts shares their valuable perspectives on metabolic health. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: Leptin resistance and how it can drive the overeating and inactivity commonly associated with obesity How elevated insulin blocks the effects of leptin Why it's essential to pay attention to fasting insulin rather than waiting for blood glucose to rise Ben Azadi highlights metabolic health markers that can provide information beyond fasting glucose. How our muscles help to regulate glucose and support insulin sensitivity The importance of building and preserving muscle to support insulin sensitivity as we age, and how even a brief period of inactivity can reduce insulin sensitivity Mark Sisson explains why running may not be the most effective fat loss strategy How walking can increase your fat-burning capacity while also helping to preserve your muscles Dr. Nick Norwitz explains how type 2 diabetes can involve different underlying pathologies, and how CGM data and machine learning can eventually help to identify specific subphenotypes Connect with Cynthia Thurlow Follow on X, Instagram & LinkedIn Check out Cynthia's website. In Day 193 of The Ways of the Righteous (Orchot Tzaddikim), in the Gate of Fear of Heaven, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe continues exploring the remarkable ways human beings reflect, on a limited scale, qualities Hashem placed into creation. Just as Hashem distinguishes between good and evil, human beings possess the capacity to discern between them. And just as Hashem created and formed the world, mankind has been endowed with extraordinary creative abilities—to build, plant, develop, transform, and accomplish. But human potential does not mean effortless success. Rabbi Wolbe emphasizes that there are no shortcuts. Greatness requires hard work, Torah study, understanding the ways of Hashem, and ultimately Hashem's assistance. The extraordinary capacities placed within us are possibilities that must be cultivated. The lesson also draws a fascinating parallel between Hashem and the neshamah: neither can be perceived with our physical eyes. We cannot see a soul entering the body at birth or departing at death, yet its reality defines human life. Similarly, the inner thoughts of another person remain hidden from us, while Hashem knows what lies within every heart.Rabbi Wolbe then explains the purpose of the Yetzer Tov and Yetzer Hara. Human beings were deliberately placed into a world of competing impulses so that our choices would have meaning. Our capacity to build or destroy, plant or uproot, accumulate or relinquish, exercise power or restraint creates the arena in which free will operates. The challenge is not to live without an evil inclination, but to strengthen the Yetzer Tov sufficiently to govern it.The lesson concludes with the essential balance between Divine judgment and Divine mercy. Rabbi Wolbe discusses Rashi's teaching on the opening of the Torah: creation is introduced with the Divine name Elohim, associated with judgment. Yet a world operating through strict judgment alone could not endure. Human beings need the possibility of making mistakes, repenting, growing, and trying again. Hashem therefore allows mercy to accompany judgment. Our greatness is found precisely within this system. We possess tremendous potential, but we also possess competing desires and the ability to fail. The person who repeatedly chooses the Yetzer Tov over the Yetzer Hara transforms that struggle into spiritual greatness. Such a person, Rabbi Wolbe concludes, is truly fortunate—and fortunate is the mother who brought such a person into the world._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on March 23, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on August 19, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Piracetam, Racetams & Nootropics: Dave Asprey on the Original Smart Drug, Brain Optimization and How to Biohack Memory, Focus and Cognitive Decline We're excited to bring you another Dave solo education masterclass, this one breaking down the molecule that started the entire nootropics industry: Racetams Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey pulls back the curtain on piracetam and the racetam family, the original nootropics that quietly built the foundation for modern human performance and brain optimization. As the father of biohacking and someone who has taken racetams almost every single day for 25 years, Dave brings firsthand experience most experts simply don't have. He built two Bulletproof-era companies and led the biohacking movement while running this stack daily, and in this episode, he shares exactly how it worked for him. Dave traces the strange 1964 Belgian lab discovery that forced scientists to invent the word "nootropic" in the first place, then breaks down how these compounds shift acetylcholine, glutamate, and AMPA signaling to improve memory, focus, and neuroplasticity without touching dopamine or spiking your heart rate. He covers the mitochondria and membrane fluidity mechanisms behind the anti-aging and longevity effects, walks through dosing for all five major racetams, and explains who actually benefits versus who's wasting their money. This is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, human performance, functional medicine, and brain optimization. Whether you're stacking supplements for sleep optimization, exploring fasting and ketosis for metabolism, or just trying to think clearer without sacrificing your health, this episode hands you a real framework for hacking cognitive decline before it starts. You'll Learn: Why piracetam forced scientists to invent the term "nootropic" and what actually qualifies as one How racetams change acetylcholine, glutamate, and AMPA signaling without acting like a stimulant The link between racetams, mitochondria, and neuroplasticity, and why it matters for anti-aging Dosing breakdowns for piracetam, aniracetam, oxiracetam, pramiracetam, and phenylpiracetam Who benefits most: aging brains, stroke recovery, athletes, and anyone flying frequently How to stack racetams with choline, Danger Coffee, and other supplements the smarter not harder way The regulatory mess keeping safe, tested nootropics out of reach in the US Thank you to our sponsors! - ALP | Head to http://alppouch.com/ and use code DAVE for 20% off your first order. - Pique | Head over to Piquelife.com/Dave to get 20% off your order. - OneSkin | Get 15% off OneSkin with the code DAVE at https://www.oneskin.co/DAVE #oneskinpod Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking.
