This week as a schismatic sect is caught tunnelling underground in New York, we're dealing with a schismatic sect of the Irish variety, intent on burying themselves in pursuit killing of Jack Ryan. Yes, the hunt for the American James Bond continues with 1992's Patriot Games, directed by Phillip Noyce, and starring Harrison Ford, Sean Bean, Anne Archer, Thora Birch, Patrick Bergin, Samuel L. Jackson, Polly Walker, James Earl Jones and Richard Harris. Yes Alec Baldwin has been turfed from the franchise, replaced by the man Paramount always wanted in the role from the start, and Ford does a great job of lending Jack gravity that Baldwin simply can't offer. Unfortunately, the movie around him only gets worse as it goes along, ending with a final reel that feels cut on from a different movie altogether. Meanwhile, Hayley's hyperfocused on the Golden Globes and the start of Awards Season, while Justin's getting deep into Percy Jackson & The Olympians. Other works discussed in this episode include Akeelah and the Bee, No Clue, Bottle Rocket, Foe, The Thing, Cape Fear, Spotlight, Prisoners and Zodiac among others. If you'd like to watch the film before listening to us talk about it, and this week we don't really recommend it, you can find it streaming on Paramount+ at the time of publication. We'll be back next week to wrap up our foray into the Tom Clancy-verse with 1994's Clear and Present Danger, as Harrison Ford becomes the only actor in the history of the franchise who got to play Jack Ryan twice on the big screen. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!

What makes theatre such an important part of building connections -- both in school and out of school? And how can theatre help foster imagination and self-awareness as part of a strong STEM/STEAM program? Meet Selah Theatre Project's Founding Artistic Director, LaTasha Do'zia. Latasha is a visionary artist and entrepreneur who uses the arts to help build a stronger, kinder, and more creative community. As a teaching artist, LaTasha has used theatre as a tool for teacher development, private business communication, counselor training, mental health intervention, and social justice movements.  In 2021, LaTasha was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Virginia Commission for the Arts,.  It has been my privilege to lead professional development workshops on multicultural picture books and STEAM connections with LaTasha. We are co-teaching at Shenandoah University, where we explore bringing multicultural picture books to life. Full show notes.[02:07] We talk about LaTasha's personal adventure in learning and how she reached a place where she owns and operates her own theatre company. "I discovered theater when I was six years old," LaTasha says. "My mother said that I was too dramatic and I needed to put that energy somewhere." We've said this before on the podcast, but books have an amazing power to provide windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors for children (and adults) as they navigate establishing their identities and figuring out who they are in the world. If you haven't read it yet, I strongly encourage you to check out Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop's seminal work on the subject. At [04:27], we learn that LaTasha's favorite book from her childhood that also served as a mirror was John Steptoe's Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters. We delve deeper into the creation of LaTasha's Selah Theatre Project, which she started 11 years ago. LaTasha offers a sneak peek at the new season, which includes What the Consitution Means to Me, Trouble In Mind, Macbeth, Akeelah and the Bee, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?   [06:51]  "We do 8 productions a year and it's a mixture of youth theater, teen theater, and community theater," she says. "We focus on diverse voices as much as possible. And diversity comes in so many ways. It's not just racial, it's also socioeconomic, it's also learning based. There's so much diversity in our group and we're very proud of that. We're small but mighty."[16:58] I have been fortunate enough to work with LaTasha to help teachers and librarians unlock strategies for connecting multicultural picture books with STEAM for more engaged learning. A new monument is designed to showcase the rich cultural history and beauty of the predominantly Black community in Crenshaw. A stop for the metro line is being added and usually the comes with gentrification and eradication of culture. So maybe the most critical goal of the project might be this: to show Los Angelenos and visitors to the city that the Crenshaw community—most famously portrayed on film in Akeelah and the Bee and Boyz n the Hood—isn't a neighborhood to be passed through. It's a destination worth traveling to. It's a community that is worthy of art, beauty, economic investment, and most importantly—honor and respect. (For all y'all who've watched “A.P. Bio.”)It's World Teacher Day, and at Geek Girl Soup we're celebrating teachers by watching some teacher-centered movies and shows. We start with the hilarious—and totally inappropriate—“A.P. Bio” (Peacock). A philosophy professor from Harvard gets fired from Harvard and has to leave Harvard to go back home to Toledo, Ohio. He takes over a class of A.P. biology instead of teaching philosophy at Harvard. (Did I mention that he was a professor at Harvard? I don't think that I mention Harvard as many times as he does in a single episode.) Instead of actually teaching biology, he entangles his students in his schemes to bring down his archnemesis—a philosophy professor-cum-bestselling-author. Susan says not to bother watching beyond season 1.“The Substitute” (IMDb TV) stars Tom Berenger as a retired mercenary who goes undercover as a substitute teacher after his fiancée is attacked in the school where she works as a teacher. He investigates the gang that attacked her and uncovers… guess what… that drugs are being sold in the school. The school must be cleaned up!“Stand and Deliver” (HBO Max) is a biopic that features Edward James Olmos as Jaime Escalante. Mr. Escalante gives up a job as an engineer and takes over a basic math class in a school in East Los Angeles. He tells his students that math is “the great equalizer.” He kicks out kids who don't do the work and challenges all the students to push themselves harder than they thought possible, not only to pass algebra, but to take and pass A.P. calculus.“The Principal” (rent) stars Jim Belushi as a teacher who becomes the principal of a gang- and drug-riddled school. Admittedly, this is a paltry version of…“Lean on Me” (HBO Max), which is a biopic that stars Morgan Freeman as “Crazy” Joe Clark, who becomes the principal of a gang- and drug-riddled school in the late 1980s where he was once a hippie teacher in 1960s. His unorthodox (and dangerous) methods earned him the moniker “crazy.” He immediately expels all known drug dealers. He locks the exterior doors with chains. (Can you say, “Fire hazard”?) He walks around the halls with a baseball bat. He takes a kid onto the roof of the school and urges him to jump. He fires the music teacher. (Yeah, ‘cause the arts don't matter.) And he belittles his ever-loyal assistant principal. But… he does “clean up” the school. And the students love him. In contrast to Joe Clark's stance on Mozart, in “Dangerous Minds” (Hulu) (not a true story), Michelle Pfeiffer teaches her dropout-prone students the poetry of Bob Dylan and Dylan Thomas. She lures them into doing their homework with karate moves, candy bars, an unauthorized trip to an amusement park,

In this episode, the guys talk about one of our favorite beverages and how one coffee brand started a grammy-winning music production company in the hopes of increasing coffee sales but almost destroyed the company. Chad talks about why leadership is so important and Nico talks about why your employees are your most important customers. Today's episode isn't about how one of the worst became the best and it isn't a story about how one of the best became the worst. This is a story about how a mediocre product turned a brand into an 80 billion dollar business. This episode of the Marketing Rescue Podcast is about Starbucks. Plenty of people believe Starbucks' coffee is great. However, in some blind taste tests, their coffee has finished middle of the pack.  In other blind taste tests, Starbucks coffee even came in last after brands like Dunkin' Donuts and Folgers.  Starbucks had been around long before it started to appear in blind taste tests and solidified its status as one of the most beloved modern brands of coffee in the early 2000s. In 1971, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker founded Starbucks at Seattle's Pike Place Market.  They sold the company to Howard Schultz in the early 1980s. It wasn't until after a business trip to Milan, Italy, that Schultz decided to turn the bean store into a coffee shop. Under Schultz's tenure as chief executive - which lasted from 1986 to 2000 - the franchise underwent an aggressive expansion and experienced tremendous success in growing its brand throughout the 80s and 90s. Feeling good about where they were as a company, Starbucks started looking for new opportunities to grow beyond coffee and they started to define their brand as an “escape.”  For many of its consumers, Starbucks does offer moments of escape between home and work.  Some even believe that the experience the brand creates makes the coffee taste great. However, in 2003, Starbucks' may have lost control of its ego.  The mermaid slapped on a metaphorical pair of ‘too-cool-for-you' aviators and the company: Created its own music recording companyWon eight GrammysLaunched a movie with Lionsgate in 2006 called Akeelah and the BeeStarted a partnership with William Morris - the longest-running talent agency -  to scout for music, books, and filmsOpened an “entertainment” office in Los Angeles By 2008, it was clear that Starbucks had lost focus of who it was. With these new businesses serving as distractions, the coffee-centric core of the brand suffered dramatically: coffee sales plummeted, stock prices fell from $37 to $7.83 and the company had to cut 18,000 jobs and close 977 stores.Thankfully, Starbucks realized they were falling before they actually hit the ground. Most turnaround stories start with a question. Some of the best turnaround stories specifically start with, “So, what do we do best?” Unsurprisingly, Starbucks found that the answer to that was coffee. Starbucks exited the entertainment business and rebuilt everything so that the focus was back on coffee. It closed each store location for an entire day to retrain every barista. This accomplished a couple of things like It told consumers that the most important thing Starbucks does is make a great cup of coffee. It also told baristas themselves that they are essential to the brand. Exiting the entertainment business, retraining their baristas, and creating a food menu all had two things in common: the same overarching purpose: rekindle the consumer experience and Howard Schultz. Schultz originally became Director of Retail Operations of Starbucks in 1982. At that time, there were only four branches of the coffee company in the Seattle area.  Less than two decades after Schultz came on board, Starbucks had a presence on six continents, with 3,501 total stores and well over $2 billion in revenue. When Schultz stepped down in 2000, he did it because he was exhausted. By 2008, he could tell the coffee chain was drifting from its core...

I saw an interesting movie over the weekend, It's called “Akeelah and the Bee.” It follows the often used plot of incredible underdog coming out of a disadvantaged environment to compete in the national spelling bee. It uses a lot of tried and true plot mechanisms, but it is extremely well done and the hero, an 11 year old girl is sharp, down-to-earth and likable. One of the supporting cast, the principal of the middle school, is well known from his roles in “Revenge of the Nerds.”The central theme of the movie, and why I bring it up, is that our biggest obstacle to success is not the fear of failure, but the fear of success. Put a different way, in order to succeed we have to be able to picture ourselves as successes. As Akeelah says it simply in the movie, “I need to get over me.”I can certainly think of many times in my life when I couldn't get out of my own way and it kept me from performing up to my potential. Every time I get a golf club in my hand, my brain becomes my worst enemy. Speaking of golf, Tiger Woods talks about the importance of visualizing every shot before he hits it. I sure wish I could do that.Akeelah remembers the really tough words by memorizing them while she jumps rope. It puts a rhythm into her learning and takes the natural resistance out of her brain. As we approach finals, it's a good time to think how you can best picture yourself as a success. If you get a chance to see the movie, “Akeelah and the Bee.” you may find yourself getting inspired. Picture yourself succeeding and you will.

Deborah CoxDeborah Cox (born July 13, 1974) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. Born and raised in Toronto, Cox began performing on television commercials at age 12, and entered various talent shows in her teenage years before becoming a professional backing vocalist for Celine Dion. In 1994, she relocated to the United States and was signed to Arista Records by Clive Davis, releasing her self-titled debut album the following year. Her second studio album One Wish (1998) was certified platinum in the United States and was marked by the commercial success of the pop crossover single "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", which would become Cox's most successful entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number two and remaining there for eight consecutive weeks. Cox signed with J Records for her third studio album The Morning After (2002), which saw moderate commercial success.Cox ventured into acting in the 2000s, making her film debut in the Canadian drama film Love Come Down (2000) and her stage debut in 2004, in the title role in the Broadway musical Aida. She has since appeared in smaller films and several musical productions, including the horror-drama Jekyll & Hyde, the biographical musical Josephine and the musical adaptation of The Bodyguard. Cox's most recent studio albums, Destination Moon (2007) and The Promise (2008), have been released through her own independent record label, Deco Recording Group. In 2017, her single "Let the World Be Ours Tonight" became her 13th number-one hit on Billboard's Dance Club Songs over the span of three consecutive decades.[1] In 2016, Billboard listed Cox at 23rd on its list of the Greatest of All Time Top Dance Club Artists.[2] An eight-time Juno Award nominee, she has won four awards and is often cited as Canada's top R&B artist.[3] Deborah Cox was born in Toronto to parents of Afro-Guyanese descent, grew up in Scarborough, Toronto and attended John XXIII Catholic Elementary School and Earl Haig Secondary School.[3] She began singing on TV commercials at age 12, and entered various talent shows including an appearance on Tiny Talent Time.[4] She performed in nightclubs as a teenager, and began to write music around the same time.[5] Cox entered the music industry in the early 1990s, performing as a backup vocalist for Celine Dion for six months.[3][6] After receiving many rejection letters from Canadian record labels that claimed their "quota" had been reached, Cox moved to Los Angeles in 1994 with producer and songwriting partner, Lascelles Stephens.[3][6]Career[edit]1995–1999: Debut and One Wish[edit]In 1995, label executive Clive Davis signed Cox to Arista Records. Featuring production from Dallas Austin, Keith Crouch, Tim & Bob, and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, she released her self-titled debut album the same year. A middling commercial and critical success, the album peaked at number 102 on US Billboard 200 but emegered as a steady seller, eventually receiving a gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), while going platinum in Canada. Lead single "Sentimental" entered the top five on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, while follow-up "Who Do U Love" attained worldwide success, becoming a top twenty success in Australia, New Zealand and the US, also reaching the top of Billboard's Dance Club Songs.[7] In 1996, Deborah Cox won Cox a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording at the annual award ceremony and earned her a Best Soul/R&B New Artist nomination at the 1996 American Music Awards.Cox contributed the non-album song "Things Just Ain't The Same" to the soundtrack to the 1997 film Money Talks. A dance remix of the song, produced by Hex Hector, became her second number-one hit on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart and was included on her second album, 1998's One Wish. As with her self-titled debut album, her sophomore effort was once again executive-produced by Davis, but featured more uptempo, contemporary R&B, and a slew of new producers and personnel to incorporate dance and club music, including Montell Jordan, Anthony "Shep" Crawford, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, and DJ Quik. One Wish peaked at number 72 on the Billboard 200 and earned a platinum certification from the RIAA, while reaching gold status in Canada. The album capitalized on the crossover success of lead single "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" which became Cox's most successful entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number two, and remaining there for eight consecutive weeks, making it one of the longest stays at number two in chart history. The song also reached number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, spending a then record-breaking 14 weeks at number one, while the third single "We Can't Be Friends," a duet with R. L. Huggar, reached the top ten, with "It's Over Now" and "I Never Knew" become chart-toppers on the Dance Club Songs chart.2000–2005: The Morning After and acting career[edit]After One Wish, Cox collaborated with singer Whitney Houston on her single "Same Script, Different Cast" from the compilation album Whitney: The Greatest Hits. Incorporating a backing track of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Für Elise" during the intro, it was released as a radio-only promo single and became a minor hit on Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 70 while reaching number 14 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. In 2000, Cox made her acting debut when she starred in Clement Virgo's Canadian drama film Love Come Down, playing a nightclub singer. The film garnered eight nominations at the 21st Genie Awards, including two Best Original Song nominations for Cox's songs "29" and "Our Love". In 2001, Cox then recorded "Absolutely Not", for the soundtrack to Dr. Dolittle 2 which became her sixth number one hit on Billboard's Dance Club Songs.Cox's third album The Morning After was released in November 2002 on J Records following a frustratingly long departure from Arista. It marked the Cox's first record under Clive Davis's label, with Davis, once more serving as executive producer.[8] Keen to build on the success of her previous album One Wish, he enlisted the help of producers such as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Jermaine Dupri, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, and Shep Crawford as well as up-and-coming producers Warryn Campbell, Johntá Austin and Alex Richbourg to work with Cox. A blend of urban R&B and adult contemporary songs with additional dance/house tracks, it became her highest-charting album on the US Billboard 200 and Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums yet, debuting and peaking at number 38 and number seven, respectively. Commercially, the album was less successful than her previous album, however, though it produced two singles on the US Dance Club Songs chart, including "Mr. Lonely" and "Play Your Part".[8]In February 2004, Cox made her Broadway debut in the Elton John-Tim Rice musical Aida when she replaced singer Michelle Williams in her role of the Nubian princess. Her four-month engagement earned largely positive reviews.[9] The same year, she recorded and released a dance remix of the musical's theme song "Easy As Life" as a promotional single.[10] In 2005, Cox starred in the films Blood of a Champion and Love on Layaway. Also that year, her voice was featured in the movie Hotel Rwanda in the song "Nobody Cares". To sustain demand for Cox's club appearances, while focused on her family and new album projects, she released a dance single titled "House Is Not a Home" on Nervous Records in January 2006. Later in the year, her song "Definition of Love" was used in the movie Akeelah and the Bee, but was not released as a single.2006–2009: Destination Moon and The Promise[edit]Between 2005 and 2006 Deborah recorded her fourth album, called Destination Moon, arranged and produced by Rob Mounsey. A tribute album to jazz singer Dinah Washington, Cox noted it a concept album that she had in mind for years.[11] Most of the album was recorded live with a forty-piece orchestra with Rob Mounsey arranging. Eventually released by Decca Records in June 2017, Destination Moon peaked at number three on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums. The same year, Cox co-starred alongside Golden Brooks and Darius McCrary in Leslie Small's film A Good Man is Hard to Find. Based on the musical stage play of the same name, the comedy depicts the story of three women who each undergo romantic crises that challenge their personal and spiritual relationships.[12] In 2008, Cox performed the Canadian national anthem at the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans, receiving rave reviews.[13] She also contributed the song "This Gift" to the soundtrack of the 2008 romantic drama film Meet the Browns, directed by Tyler Perry, and served as a supprting act on Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour 2008.[14]Also that year, Cox finished work on her sixth studio album The Promise, released on November 11, 2008, through Deco Recording Group, Cox's own independent label, with distribution handled by Image Entertainment. A breakaway from her previous album, it marked her return to R&B music and saw her working with a wider number of songwriters and producers on the album, including The Avila Brothers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Devo Springsteen, Big Jim, and Shep Crawford.[15] The Promise debuted at number 106 on the US Billboard 200, number 14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and number 95 on the Canadian Albums Chart. Earning generally mixed to positive reviews from music critics,[16] it was nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2009 Juno Awards. It second single "Beautiful U R" marked her biggest hit since "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here," becoming a top ten hit in Canada, where it was certified platinum by Music Canada, as well as her tenth chart-topper on the Billboard' Dance Club Songs. In support of the album, Cox joined forces with American R&B singer Kenny Lattimore for the joint Timeless Promise Tour in July 2009.[17] Also in 2009, she was featured on the single "Leave the World Behind", a house track produced by four DJs Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke.[18]2010–present: The Queen Project, dance music and Broadway[edit]Cox performing at the Capital Pride in Washington, D.C. in 2012.In 2010, it was announced that Cox would be joining fellow R&B singers Kelly Price and Tamia to form a supergroup.[19] While the trio recorded several tracks together, their joint album The Queen Project eventually failed to materialize due timing issues and label politics.[20] In 2011, Cox released the dance-heavy single "If It Wasn't for Love" through Deco Entertainment.[21] It became her eleventh chart topper on Billboard's Dance Club Songs and was to precede a new studio album which remained unreleased.[22] In September 2012, Cox gave her inaugural performance as the female lead Lucy in a revival of the musical Jekyll & Hyde which toured North America for twenty-five weeks. While the show enjoyed a limited Broadway run only, Cox received positive reviews for her performance.[22] Also in 2012, she collaborated with rapper Akon on the song "No Labels", the official anthem of the same-titled American bipartisan political organization.[23] The following year, Cox collaborated with DJ Paige on the non-album single "Higher". Released through Electronic Kingdom Records, it became her twelfth number-one hit on the US Dance Club Songs chart.[21] In 2014, Cox was one of the performers at the opening ceremonies of WorldPride in Toronto, alongside Melissa Etheridge, Tom Robinson and Steve Grand.[24]In 2015, she provided vocals for the made for television biographical film Whitney, directed by Angela Bassett based on American recording artist Whitney Houston.[25] Cox performed all of Houston's vocals in the film, including "I Will Always Love You", "I'm Your Baby Tonight", and "The Greatest Love of All."[25] The same year, she released the deep house-influenced "Kinda Miss You",[26] as well as the ballad "More Than I Knew" as singles.[27] Both were set to appear on her sixth album Work of Art, initially announced for an August 2015 release through Deco and Primary Wave Music.[28] However, after several delays, the album remained unreleased.[29] In 2016, Cox played the lead role of Josephine Baker in the Broadway-bound musical Josephine, which chronicled the singer's life between the years of 1939 and 1945, and starred as Rachel Marron in the North American Tour of the musical The Bodyguard based on the 1992 film of the same name. In support of the musical, Cox released the EP I Will Always Love You on Deco and Broadway Records, containing cover versions of seven Whitney Houston originals and Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You."[30] In June 2017, she released an uptempo dance single "Let the World Be Ours Tonight" during LGBTQ pride season on Radikal Records and Galactic Media. It marked her 13th single to top Billboard's Dance Club Songs.[1]On June 25, 2019, The New York Times Magazine listed Deborah Cox among hundreds of artists whose material was reportedly destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire.[31]Personal life[edit]Cox currently lives in Miami, Florida. She is married to her high school sweetheart and manager, Lascelles Stephens.[32] They have three children: son, Isaiah (born July 1, 2003), and two daughters, Sumayah (born June 29, 2006), and Kaila Michelle (born February 23, 2009).[33]Discography[edit]Main article: Deborah Cox discographyDeborah Cox (1995)One Wish (1998)The Morning After (2002)Destination Moon (2007)The Promise (2008)Awards and nominations[edit]1996Won: Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording (Deborah Cox).Nominated: American Music Award for Favorite New Artist – Soul/Rhythm & Blues.1997Nominated: Juno Award for Best Female Vocalist.1998Won: Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording ("Things Just Ain't the Same").Won: Soul Train Award for Best R&B/Soul Single – Female ("Nobody's Supposed to Be Here").1999Won: Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording (One Wish).Nominated: Juno Award for Best Female Vocalist.Won: Soul Train Lady of Soul Award for Best R&B/Soul Song of the Year ("Nobody's Supposed to Be Here").2000Nominated: Genie Award for Best Original Song ("Our Love" and "29" from Love Come Down).Nominated: Soul Train Award for Best R&B/Soul Single – Group, Band or Duo ("Same Script, Different Cast" feat. In this episode the legendary Tzi Ma of the hit series WU Assassins chats with your favorite host Galaxy about his experience is movies and television.  Tzi Ma was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States at a young age. Together with his parents and four of his siblings, he worked in a family-owned restaurant on Staten Island, New York, where he still has his elementary school friends he's in touch with. One of the most prolific and versatile actors working today, Tzi Ma has worked alongside many of the biggest names in Hollywood. He honed his craft in many of the off-Broadway and regional theaters shows, and worked with acclaimed playwright David Henry Hwang on his first two plays FOB, and The Dance and the Railroad (a play specifically written for Tzi) at the Public theater, and with Eric Overmyer on In Perpetuity Throughout the Universe (also specifically written for Tzi) at the Hudson Guild and Baltimore Center Stage to name a few. His first acting role on the screen was in Ullie Lommel's cult jet-set film Cocaine Cowboys alongside Jack Palance and Andy Warhol in 1978. The claim to fame for that film was that the Nassau county police department at Montauk Point mistook them for real cocaine dealers, confiscated many duffel bags of powdered sugar and production cash and held up production for several days. Most recently, Tzi played the pivotal role of General Shang in Denis Villeneuve's Arrival, a film with Amy Adams which was both critically acclaimed and a box office success. From his role as Hinh, a deadly-efficient assassin and nationalist triple-agent masquerading as Michael Caine's assistant in The Quiet American, to his hilarious, lit-cigarette-swallowing take on The General in Joel and Ethan Coen's The Ladykillers, Tzi always delivers the unexpected. Over the years, he has amassed a distinguished body of work and has come to be a household face. Of course, audiences will always remember Tzi's Counsel/Ambassador Han from Rush Hour and Rush Hour III. His other favorite major film credits include Million Dollar Arm, Dante's Peak, Akeelah and The Bee, Chain Reaction, and Rapid Fire Tzi is also a firm believer in supporting indie films, particularly involving Asian-Canadian or Asian-American writers, directors, and producers. These films include Golden Gate written by David Henry Hwang, which centers around the unjust treatment of the Chinese American community during the McCarthy era; Catfish in Black Bean Sauce by writer/director Chi Muoi Lo, which tackles the lighter side of race relations, family dynamics, and love between an Asian American man and an African American woman; Red Doors by writer/director Georgia Lee - a re-imagining of Shakespeare's The Tempest in an Asian American setting; Formosa Betrayed Produced by Will Tiao, who examines the desire for Taiwanese independence springing from the "white terror" incident; #1 Serial Killer by writer/director Stanley Yung, a rare Asian American horror film; Pali Road by writer/director/producer Jonathan Lim, a psychological mystery thriller love story; Mike, Mike Tan by writer/director Aimee Long, which deals with a Chinese American cop who accidentally kills an Africa American man in the line of duty; and Meditation Park by writer/director/producer Mina Shum, who takes on the challenge of telling the experiences of a first-generation immigrant woman's journey of self-discovery and growth toward independence. His portrayal as Bing, the husband in Mina's Meditation Park garnered Tzi a Best Actor in A Leading Role Nomination from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Through their talented and diverse voices, we share with the world our stories. Notable recurring roles on television includes, the Dragon in ABC's Once Upon a Time; General Onoda in Amazon's The Man in the High Castle; Tao in AMC's Hell on Wheels; President Lu Chi Jang in HBO's Veep; Yao in HBO's Silicon Valley; Ambassador Lu in ABC's Commander in Chief; Cheng Zhi in FOX's 24 and 24:Live Another Day; Dr. Henry Lu in CBS's City of Angels; Det. Harold Ng in ABC's NYPD Blues; Lee Hei in CBS's Martial Law; and as Bah Bah in FOX's animated series American Dad.   For more amazing episodes go to: www.ComicCon-Radio.com   Follow us on Instagram  @ComicConRadio   Please subscribe to Comic Con Radio Always give us 5 stars. The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Curtis Armstrong (aka Booger "Revenge of the Nerds"). “Risky Business,” “One Crazy Summer,” “Adventures of Huck Finn,” “Smokin' Aces,” “Dodgeball,” “Akeelah and the Bee”---just a fraction of the hit films in which you'll find Armstrong's face gracing the big screen. Some of the hit television shows he appeared in are “Third Rock from the Sun,” “Ally MacBeal,” “That 70's Show,” and “Ghost Whisperer to name a few. Whether you're an 80's pop culture junkie obsessed with all things comedy, or a die heart sci-fi geek, you probably have seen Armstrong in your favorite TV shows and movies. Armstrong has been acting since before his big break in "Risky Business." Something you may not know about the veteran is that he first got his taste of acting when he lived in Geneva, Switzerland with his family as a young boy. He would visit a little theater in the old town where they showed unabridged versions of old, silent films and he began to look to the actors of the 20s and 30s as inspiration. He grew to love the art and when he moved back to the states, began to study theater and participate in local plays. He co-founded a theater company after attending Oakland University Academy of Dramatic Arts and later moved to New York to pursue theater and film full time. For the past 30 years, in between filming television and movies, he continued to go back to his original love and could be seen on the stage.  I would love to hear your thoughts on featuring this actor, not only about his newest on AMAZON, but about his impressive, respected, and longstanding career in Hollywood with over 130 credits that continue to grow.

Love Fell On Me With hands that effortlessly glide over the keys and a voice that will carry you to the moon, Sheléa's musical mastery makes her one of the most exhilarating up and coming artists today. While donning multiple hats of vocalist, songwriter, pianist, arranger and producer, Sheléa evokes the sultry energy of Natalie Cole and the piano chops and writing prowess of Anita Baker. Sheléa's debut album, Love Fell On Me, is a return to romance; blending traditional pop, jazz and soul; marking an exciting revival of singing and songwriting in a music scene that is laced with auto-tune and beat driven numbers that read more like chants than songs. Haling from a musical family, both her parents sing and play the piano, Sheléa quickly realized that music was her passion. She would go on to work with legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at their Flyte Tyme production company as an in-house songwriter and vocalist. This experience prepared her for the opportunity to pen and produce two songs on Chanté Moore's last album, Love the Woman, including the album's single “It Ain't Supposed to Be This Way,” and she has lent her stellar vocals to soundtrack projects including Hotel Rwanda, Akeelah and the Bee and Be Cool.
