John 10:22-30At that time, the festival of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the portico of Solomon. So the Jews gathered around him and asked him, “How long will you keep us in the suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us, plainly.”Jesus answered them, “I have told you and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name testify to me, but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they will never perish. No one will snatch them from my hand. What the Father has given me is greater than all else and no one can snatch it from the Father's hand. The Father and I are one.” “You do not believe because you do not belong to my sheep.”“You do not believe because you do not belong.” What if that's the whole tweet, as they say? What if that's all we need to hear this morning? And what if you and I are supposed to be convicted by that – as followers of Jesus – rather than use it as some kind of judgement against those who consider themselves not to be followers of the Jesus we claim?“You do not believe because you do not belong.”Jesus is talking to the Jews who weren't on board yet with what he was up to. And, with a little pastoral imagination, I like to think his disciples were within earshot of this conversation; that they were following him around, as usual, and that Jesus knew he was being heard by both at the same time; that he was speaking to both crowds at once – those who belonged and those who didn't believe. There are plenty of people in the world who don't believe in Jesus – or God – or have a Christian faith for all sorts of rational, considered, thoughtful, theological reasons. Maybe they're deliberately, purposefully atheists. Maybe they're people of another faith – Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, pagans. I'm not talking about them, necessarily.Instead, I found myself wondering this week about those who don't believe, but who would, could, might believe, if only we – as followers of Jesus – would do better at finding ways for them to BELONG, first. (“You don't believe because you don't belong…”)I heard two stories just this week, in two very different, settings, from two very different sources, about two sets of parents who were struggling with the fact that their gay or lesbian children weren't people of faith; didn't go to church; didn't believe or worship or practice a faith that their parents wished that they would. In one case, the child had been raised in the Church, but had fallen away from an active, practicing life of faith. In the other case, the family wasn't one who had ever practiced a faith, but the father came to believe in mid-life, and wanted to bring his wife and grown children along with him for the journey. (For what it's worth, one of these stories came by way of a colleague, here in Indianapolis. The other was from a completely unrelated story I heard on “This American Life.”)Anyway, what these two sets of parents have in common, is their outspoken disapproval of their children's sexuality, which is evident to the adult children they want to love, by either the theology they adhere to (“Love the sinner. Hate the Sin.” sort of stuff.), their political persuasion (the politicians and policies they support that do harm to their gay children), or both.In other words, the children of these parents know that they don't – and will never – BELONG to their parents' faith communities or fit into their misguided view of the world, so how could they and why would they ever want to believe in the things their parents professed about a loving, gracious, merciful God?“…you don't believe because you don't belong.”In my opinion, so many people in so many walks of life are falling away from the faith or throwing it all out with the bath water, because they see Christianity connected with exclusion, judgment, hypocrisy, greed, violence, and more. People don't believe because they don't belong – or because they don't want to belong – to a body that embodies any of those things. And, as hard and as sad and as frustrating as that is, it makes perfect sense to me. And it's why we have so much work to do.And I think that work starts with belonging. They don't believe because they don't belong.People long to feel and to experience welcome, love, and affirmation. And when they do, they might begin to wonder about believing and embracing the God who promises it.If we want people to feel like part of God's family… If we want people to learn about the grace we proclaim… If we want people to believe in the wideness of God's mercy, in the amazing love of our creator, in the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and in life everlasting…I'm convinced that they need to know, trust, and feel like they BELONG, first. And I think our call is to show and to shout and to share the good news of that belonging as loudly and as clearly, as often and in as many ways as we can manage.I heard another, beautiful story this week – perfect for Mother's Day – about a different family altogether who proved what belonging can do. Many years ago, this set of American parents adopted a 7 year-old boy from Romania, who had lived the first 7-and-a-half years of his life in an orphanage where he shared a crib with another boy his age that entire time. As they grew, they stayed in that crib, to the point that they had to sleep sitting up. They didn't go to school. They didn't go outside. They only left their crib to eat and to use the bathroom. Daniel, the boy who was adopted by the Americans in South Euclid, Ohio, never even knew the names of the adults who took care of him in that orphanage. The short of the long is that Daniel came to the states utterly unprepared for the life with which his adoptive parents hoped to give him – he simply wasn't ready socially, emotionally, or intellectually for a life with people who loved him. After 7 years in a crib, how could he be? And after a six-month honeymoon period with his new family in the states, things went downhill fast and furiously.Daniel developed an anger and rage over all that he couldn't process or understand about his experience in the orphanage, his having been put there in the first place by his birth parents, and his place in the world and with his new mom and dad. He threw tantrums they described as “tornadoes of rage … eight hour marathons where he would throw anything he could get his hands on.” There were thousands of holes in his bedroom walls from his violent outbursts. He abused social workers and specialists. He choked a puppy. He gave his mom, Heidi, a black eye, once. He held a knife to her neck, another time. It got so bad they hired the equivalent of a bodyguard to be in the house, so that Heidi was never alone with her new son. Finally – and I'm leaving out a lot of the story, mind you – they embarked on a fascinating, controversial treatment for Daniel's diagnosed Attachment Disorder where they pulled him out of school, Heidi quit her job, and they spent several months side-by-side, literally no farther than three feet apart. If one of them went to the bathroom, the other waited outside the door. They only time they were not next to each other, was when they were sleeping. They worked to establish the bond that's supposed to be created between mothers and infants, under normal circumstances, by being very deliberate about eye-contact, for instance, and proximity. Daniel wasn't allowed to ask for anything – he had to learn, from experience, that Heidi would provide basic needs for him, like food and drink. Daniel's punishment for not playing along, or for doing something wrong, was called a “Time In,” where he would be subjected to time on the couch, being hugged by his mother.Ultimately, it worked. After eight weeks of this and a year of “holding therapy” where the family of three cradled each other – holding 13 year-old Daniel like a newborn – for 20 minutes, every night for a year, Daniel began to transform, slowly, but surely, almost imperceptibly, into a boy who believed that he would be and could be and was LOVED by his parents. Another way to say this, if you ask me, is that Daniel came to believe in that love, because he was finally convinced that he belonged to his new family. He believed because he belonged. And I think this is our call as people of God in the world. People need to see and to know that they already belong to the good news and grace and eternal life we claim. And I think it's our job and it should be our joy – even when it's hard – to show that kind of love and belonging to them.I think they need to see us marching at PRIDE parades.I think they need to see us teaching about and practicing anti-racism.I think they need to see our kids walking against homelessness and they need to see us giving money to their cause.I think politicians need to receive our letters, our phone calls, and our votes – in the name of Jesus – that speak out on behalf of people who are hungry and homeless and criminalized for that. (Join us for that next Sunday, between services.)I think the women who are served by our Agape ministry to sex workers need to experience the proximity and generosity of that ministry. And the list goes on. But I've said enough. And, just because it couldn't be more timely, I'll close with something from the new Pope Leo that makes me think he'd agree with me. Apparently, he said this once:“We are often worried about teaching doctrine, but we risk forgetting that our first duty is to communicate the beauty and joy of knowing Jesus.”They don't believe, because they don't belong.I think those who don't believe what we claim to know about the grace of God need to experience it, first; they need to see us making room for them, for their doubts, and for their unbelief – whoever “they” may be. And that needs to happen, not because it's our job to convince them of God's love, but because we – and the world – will be blessed and better for having shared this love humbly, hopefully, and with a warm welcome of belonging, in Jesus' name.Amen[To hear the full story of Daniel and his family, listen to Episode 317 of This American Life, “Unconditional Love.”]

Discussion includes how this past week's Leo Full Moon exposed the plight of individuals against ideological notions of “a more perfect union” as the ongoing U.S. Pluto return reveals how corporate greed is rotting governmental foundations from the inside out.Pluto=other peoples' money=taxpayer dollars. Pluto also=joint resources=federal loans & grants. In Uranus-ruled Aquarius, which Pluto will transit through until March 2043, it's about transformation of joint resources due to ideological notions of a “more perfect union.”But Aquarius is an “of the people, by the people, for the people,” humanitarian archetypal notion. The kind that represents humanitarian advances in technology that make life better for us all. However, given that the effects of U.S. Pluto return--triggered initially @27'33” Capricorn in 2022—will last until about 2036 if history proves educational—it's highly likely this period will culminate as a time of “power to the people.”It's just that it's going to take a while to get there and it won't happen without a fight. However, the signs of an infected U.S. governmental system—based on financial policies such as more deregulation, fiscal austerity, trickle down economics of the “starve the beast” kind—have burst through into consciousness during the new Trump administration. The February 9 Sun/Mercury conjunction in Aquarius, squares by the Aquarius Mercury & Sun to sudden change maker Uranus on February 10 & 11, & the February 12 Leo Full Moon, respectively, have brought alarm & consternation, but also additional clarity as these aspects highlight disenfranchisement of the individual. In addition, as the news continues to fly so fast and furiously that it's hard to keep up, one fact stands out in stark relief. And that is that technology matters more than people. That's because non-elected folks like billionaire Elon Musk continue to use AI to parse out what the tech bros describe as “waste & fraud” in the American Treasury Department's systems of payments. With no oversight, they seem to be the only ones—along with newly appointed billionaires who now head major governmental cabinet posts—in charge of the U.S. payment system. And that includes not only humanitarian medical & food aid both at home & abroad, but Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, student loans, and much more. When oligarch wannabes steer the ship, it's becoming easier to see that the final destination is NOT enhanced people power, but rather corporate power uber alles, which means “above everything else.”Will the upcoming entrance of Neptune into Aries on March 30 save us? What about when Saturn enters Aries on May 26 and the two planets run side by side in 2025 before they exact conjoin at the 0° Aries point on February 20, 2026. And how about the upcoming trine of Uranus—after it enters Gemini July 7—to Pluto in Aquarius, the effects of which we'll begin to feel in 2025 and which will last through to 2029.Join us for a deeper discussion on all of this & to hear more Astro News You Can Use as Mercury enters Pisces Feb 14 & the Sun does the same Feb 18, & Mars gets ready to station direct on Feb 23 @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking!

Sheri Horn Hasan's “Karmic Evolution's Astrologically Speaking!” podcast--which drops Friday, February 7—is BAAAAACK! Listen here: https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speakingThis week's Astro News You Can Use includes a look at how--as we approach the Feb 12 Leo Full Moon--the world has been watching as those in the U.S. begin to wake up to a new reality within its governing structure and to fight back. There is no doubt, since the January 29 Aquarius New Moon & the direct stations of Uranus & Jupiter, that the news has been flying so fast and furiously that it's been difficult to keep up most days unless you're a diehard news addict. No wonder sudden shock (Uranus=sudden change) related to codified U.S. law (Jupiter=law, immigration, higher education, religion, philosophy, ethics & morals) has shaken many American's faith in their governing systems.Venus represents who we value as partners, finances, and what we do to earn our money, a.k.a., work, or our “jobs.” And now, since Venus in Aries sextiled Pluto on February 7, these most unconventional—and many say illegal—orders out of President Trump's White House have prompted legal push back. And the fight (Aries) over governmental finances, jobs, & between existig allies & trading partners (Venus) continues. The opportunity to fight back against Plutonic efforts to disempower people by imposing tariffs against allied trading partners, withholding funds from Americans, laying off government workers, discontinuing funding for charitable efforts, etc., has began to bear fruit, considering that a double-digit number of lawsuits have been filed to date. And word has it there will be more anon…after all, the Jupiter mission, now direct, is expansion, lol... We wait to see if there are any new major shocking announcements of the legal sort between now & February 9's Aquarius Sun/Mercury conjunction,  Mars/Saturn trine, February 10's Mercury/Uranus square, & February 11's Sun/Uranus square, as we head into the February 12's Leo Full Moon.We do know that Trump's been experiencing a square from transiting Saturn in Pisces from his 7th House of partnership to his natal 10th House Gemini Uranus (which conjoins his Gemini North Node & Sun there), likely spurring his need to shock through unconventional pronouncements. Since several judges have stayed his Executive Orders on issues concerning U.S. birthright, stoppage of funding via USAID, lay-offs of federal workers, granting non elected individuals access to the Treasury Department's payment system, and more, to date, we may well have Saturn to thank. Especially since transiting Saturn will go on to exact square his natal Nodes, Sagittarius Moon, & Gemini Sun--all by April 12, we may see more delays or shut downs of these efforts. We shall see...This Leo Full Moon forms a fixed cross as the Leo Moon opposes the Aquarius Sun & both luminaries square Juno in Scorpio (the partner in the sign of joint resources) opposite Uranus (sudden change.) This period will likely shock even more people out of their complacency over Trump's attempts to take a wrecking ball to America's usual civil & legal structures. Some are calling this a coup from the inside, which puts a new slant on Trump's “deep state” propaganda to mean that HE is the “deep state.” *(Well, it wouldn't be the first time that he is what he projects others to be, right?)Meanwhile, we delve into the meaning of the recent shift of the transiting nodal axis into a Virgo South Node & Pisces North Node, & take a look at the health implications (not only for the U.S. but for the world) since the Hygeia's (asteroid goddess of health) conjoined with the dwarf planet Eris, the goddess of chaos & discord on January 9. This as we await whether the February 11 Senate voters confirm that RFK, Jr., will become our next U.S. Secretary of Health & Human Services. This, as wounded healer Chiron in Aries (wound around the previous inability to take action or to be proactive) heads toward its exact conjunction with Eris on May 26. A lot will likely happen between now and then, given other major astrological shifts coming up, so we'll wait, and watch, and see…Join me now for this interesting and timely podcast @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking and I'll see you then! Namaste…

On this week's mini-episode, I want to share my top strategy for taking the pressure off you while delivering a great experience for parents on back-to-school night, stations.    Back-to-school night, like the first day of school, can be a stressful time. You're trying to get a lot of information across quickly, and it can feel like the only way to get that accomplished is by talking fast and furiously for the eight or so minutes you have with your rapidly moving parents.  A colorful presentation that you love is great, if that works for you, but if you'd prefer to go interactive, why not try stations? It takes a lot of pressure off you, and it's easy to repeat in session after session without losing your voice or sweating through your fancy schmancy parent meeting clothes.  With stations, you can get parents up and moving around your classroom, get them the information they want, and even create a chance to chat and answer questions informally. If you want to try this method, here's how I'd break it down.  Have your stations set up around the room before parents enter. Throw a welcome slide up on the board with your name, a fun photo (or collage) from classes past, and your contact information. Once parents are all inside, welcome them and invite them to move around the room to the different stations, letting them know how much time they have to move around so they can pace accordingly. At each station, they should find an obvious sign telling them what to do, as well as any supporting papers they need to pick up or fill out.  Here are some ideas for stations: #1 Info Sheet + Q & A With you: At this station, parents can grab a paper with your name, course description, contact information, and a QR code that takes them to any website or LMS you'd like them to have access to. You can hang out here and chat with them, answering questions and getting to know them a bit.  #2 Slideshow + Examples of Student Work: At this station, set up a computer or iPad to run a digital slideshow of student work from past years. Scatter a few great projects here too. This will give parents a sense for the type of work their kids will do in your class.  #3 Tour the Library: Invite parents to browse the shelves in your library. Maybe they'll find a title they once loved and it will inspire them to talk books with their students. By focusing on this important space in your classroom, they'll realize that reading is going to be an integral part of your class. #4 Learn how to Support Students: If there are certain things you wish parents would do, like set their kids up with a library card, ask them what they're studying, remind them to leave their cell phones in their lockers, etc., create a station with these tips. Then leave out some post-its and invite parents to add their suggestions of what has worked well for them in supporting their child's learning.  #5 Write a Note: At this station you could go one of two ways. Invite parents to write a note of encouragement to their child that you can then share at a key moment. Or invite parents to write you a note letting you know how they feel you can best reach their child. That might mean telling you about a project their child loved in the past, about their favorite books, about their favorite subjects, about important events in their lives that are impacting their school time, etc. You can always add more stations or choose just a few of these. You could also pair the stations with a short talk from you at the beginning. There are lots of recipes for a successful parent night – just choose what makes you feel comfortable and confident introducing them to all the wonderful work their kids will be doing. Back-to-School Night can be stressful, but this week I just want to highly recommend you create an experience that makes you feel relaxed and confident. I sat down with Nate a couple years ago and we did a full interview about his origin story and career.  You can check this out in Episode 84 of The Bomb Hole Podcast.  This episode is not a full interview, instead its a check in with Nate to see what he has been up to since we last talked on air.  If you did not catch our first interview and do not know who Nate Bozung is or do not know about he went from being the unofficial 9th member of the forum crew when he was just a young shredder coming out of Alpine Utah.  Or how he started a company called Neff with a good friend that led to a hostile buy out putting over 2 million dollars in his hands.  The next year plus gets a little blurry as Nate's life went from zero to 60 in the snap of his fingers as his bank account went from overdrafts and bank fee's to more money then him or anyone in his tight circle had ever seen.  World travel, fake friends, houses, guns, alcohol, drugs, living in a hotel in NYC, LA, Australia, Russians, Greece, South America, personal bindles for everyone, thousands given as tips….  As the stories came out telling of his antics a true legend was born.  What goes up must come down and it did fast and furiously.  We all remember seeing the news as a standoff with the police in kimbal Junction was playing out to us. Oh wait is that Nate on the Newsss!!!   It was.  Thankfully thats all behind him and ended up being very different then the news first portrayed it but it brought the spot light back to Nate and next the info came out that he has spent it all.  Something like 2.3 Million spent in shortly over a year.  Check out his first interview as he gets into lots of this.  Nate and I sat down and caught up as two friends do when they have not seen each other in a while.  He looks amazing as always with his Cowboy Shiek look!!  Nate fills me in on things like…  not seeing another human after a breakdown for 4 months, surviving off of ramen noodles sent via amazon, making millions, spending millions, riding ton's of pow, breaking down right where you need to be, making a private ski resort, cutting runs with a chain saw, shredding new run that he made, life in the sticks, picked up for work in a snow cat, making clothing, Bozung Sun Glasses and so much more.  It was amazing to see Nate and I hope you enjoy this as much as I did when recording it!!E-Stone -  @Stonies_Buds  Nate Bozung -  @bozwreckBe sure to Subscribe to our channel on YouTube too https://www.youtube.com/@StoniesBuds and hit that like button! Thanks to all of our Patreon members for the support as well as being a part of the Stonie's Buds Family!!!  For more information on Patreon check it out here.  https://www.patreon.com/StoniesBudsNew Stonie's Buds Merch at https://www.stoniesbuds.com/Special Thanks--Moonchild- https://moonchildsnowboards.comGnomie Mugz - https://gnomiemugz.comStonie Budz Print Shop - https://307o96449135872.3dcartstores.comSupport the showSupport the show

Week of Pluto Initiating the Aquarian Age/February 2-9,2024

This week opens with the last quarter moon in Scorpio signaling a time for releasing intensely passionate structures that no longer serve our self purpose. It can be a volatile growth period as all the planets are awake and interacting with Pluto at 0 degrees of Aquarius. Although preparation may have occurred to meet the newly cosmic messages being downloaded to Earth, it does not guarantee that all will go according to peaceful plans for us humans. Many forces are at play and not all receive cosmic messages in the same way as peace loving humans should. We are dealing with genocide, warring political parties, fear of losing control/power, massive migration of starving peoples, and our own inner fears of unknown changes. As we face a world crisis of revolutionary ideals amongst all sides of conflicts, World War III appears imminent. Many are already fighting for past vengeful deeds committed over hundreds and thousands of years ago that lingers still in many many hearts and minds. Releasing fears, hatred, and anger remains futile as humans continue to show the animalistic versus their humanitarian side. As Mercury meets with Pluto at the beginning of its passage through Aquarius from 2/5-23/2024, a mental metamorphosis ignites the "simulation" of revolutionary ideas propelling our 3D reality and catalyzing forward institutional changes in order to serve humanitarian progression. Pluto will return to Capricorn in September until November for the last time during our lifetimes to finish it's seismic changes to all institutional laws for the betterment of people versus power mongers that run outdated oppressive companies/governments. Then be prepared as the Aquarius new moon moves in and meets up with Pluto on 2/9/2024! Our inner landscapes will go through the wringer of own psyches pushing for honesty and integrity. Many will fail this cosmic test as it will occur fast and furiously asking for personal changes. Blame and denial will reign over the next twenty years of Pluto's tour through Aquarius- as has been shown by the astrological charts of Pluto's transit here back over a century ago during the French and American Revolutions. Structures set up during that time have been eroded by power mongers and misinterpreting the laws of the land by the losers of such wars. February continues and accentuates the Age of Aquarius, whether the masses are ready or not! The cosmic clean up begins no matter what humans think they can control. The weather can not be controlled nor the Earth's quaking as it heals itself. We can be certain of one thing if nothing else, the Sun will continue in its path interlocking with the Black Hole as the Earth gets pulled along in its gravitation with the Sun. Stay strong and meditate in order to find personal harmony and center. Remaining vigilant in finding personal clarity is a MUST if we are to survive the chaos being inflicted on our everyday survival. Thank you for your support and kindness. Sending love and light to all as we are one on this planet. We are all the same in our vulnerabilities, so please stay kind to yourself and others. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jody-cirame/message

Caporoso most recently served as the EVP of Media at Team Whistle where he led the creation of positive, relatable sports and entertainment content across YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, and the company's linear network, Whistle TV. Joe Caporoso on change: "One of the interesting things in being at Whistle this long, which I know is relatively uncommon in media, is the role really changes and evolves every couple of years. We've acquired three companies, we have been acquired twice, a lot of that within the past five years, so it's kept me on my toes and you learn a lot very fast and furiously." Joe Caporoso on capacity building: "We have to have the ability to go through every social platform and find up-and-coming creators who are telling interesting stories and there's an audience for those stories. I think whether or not you are a full-time athlete, even if you are a smaller creator in a very niche area, there are brands and platforms very interested in sponsoring that story-telling." Joe Caporoso on collaboration with global social networks: "Both sides need each other. Platforms like Meta and TikTok want as much quality, original content as possible. We can provide that ourselves, and we can provide relationships to creators who can provide that and organise how that content is distributed around major tent-pole events. So, there is a definite need and interest in ensuring that we continue to post original and branded content, of a certain quality at a very high volume, with the most cutting-edge and popular creators and all the different platforms are jockeying for how can they get companies like us to put as many resources as possible on their platform."

Prepare Your Practice to Survive and Thrive (Ep. 211)

Hello, and welcome to Beauty and the Biz where we talk about the business and marketing side of plastic surgery, and how to prepare your practice to survive and thrive. I'm your host, Catherine Maley, author of Your Aesthetic Practice – What your patients are saying, as well as consultant to plastic surgeons, to get them more patients, more profits and stellar reputations. Now, today's episode is called "Prepare your practice to Survive and Thrive". This podcast is for you if… You are the main revenue generator in your practice You can't figure out how to grow your practice without dramatically increasing your overhead and working harder You're looking for a plan to turn your practice into a sellable asset if and when you are ready to exit But, times are changing so quickly and will continue to change at a rapid rate due to the economy, Artificial Intelligence and other cosmetic rejuvenation advancing technologies. Prepare now so you're able to adapt to weather the good times and the bad times, since nothing stays the same so knowledge is power and acting on the knowledge is everything! Because the objective is to set up your cosmetic surgical practice as a business so it's more profitable, more enjoyable to go to every day, and it frees up your valuable time so you have more of it to spend doing what you like to do with the people you most enjoy being with. Because the ultimate goal to scale your practice includes a system that attracts a steady stream of cash-paying patients, WITHOUT spending a fortune on advertising, chasing down leads, hiring more staff, discounting services or performing on social media. In other words, a "faster, easier, cheaper way to more cosmetic patients and profits.” So here are 3 things you need to grow a scalable practice and to prepare your practice to survive and thrive: Leverage – use your assets you already have to generate more revenues with less effort and overhead to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Bankable Profits – not just revenues, but profits you actually take out of the practice and Transferrable Value – means you have separated you from the practice so you have the freedom to sell to someone else when it's time to exit But there are challenges ahead to prepare your practice to survive and thrive… Did you hear what happened? Privacy issues are killing your plans for attracting new patients to your practice. So much is happening behind the scenes with Apple, Google and FaceBook trying to dominate consumer data capture, so they are no longer sharing data with advertisers like before. This is making it very difficult for you to attract new PREFERRED patients when you can no longer target specifically to certain audiences.  And that means Ad results will become incomplete and inaccurate because you now have only 10% of the data that used to be 100% available.    So that will force you to increase your advertising budget substantially, as in 30-80% and HOPE the broader, less targeted audience is interested in cosmetic rejuvenation. It's very similar to old-school mass advertising like TV. You spend a fortune to talk to everyone, rather than a targeted audience most likely to want your services. So not only do your ad costs increase dramatically, so do poor quality leads. Since your ads are not as targeted to your preferred patients, you get a mixed bag of the public contacting you. Now your staff wastes a lot of time triaging these leads to determine who is really serious and who is flaky. So, you need well-trained staff and processes to qualify leads. BTW, if you aren't already, I recommend you charge a consult fee so at least, your time is better protected from wasted consults who have no intention of moving forward. Regardless of their motives, these few Internet companies affect you big time if you are using paid advertising to attract new cosmetic patients. It's complicated and technical so I'll leave that to your internet company to explain but, suffice it to say, it's going to get even more expensive to advertise for a new cosmetic patient with less than stellar results. This major increase in advertising costs has now made SEO popular again; however, the supply is much greater than the demand so it's getting near impossible to rank on the 1st page. And now AI has taken off and can write content for you and everyone else so that will add a whole new level of complexity and On top of that, Google is also using AI and turning into an answer engine in which they are answering consumer questions without them having to go to your website. Another huge challenge you want to plan for is your social media strategy. I believe this is where we need to head so I would spend time understanding it and getting good at it because it's your only differentiator in a sea of massive content coming at prospective patients. However, please keep in mind, you are only renting those followers. IG and FB own them so they are, in essence the landlord. That means they can raise the rent and/or kick you out at any time, so you lose your data you've spent years collecting. I'm sure you're aware that social media and plastic surgery don't get along. You are showing graphic material that can be offensive or hurt the self-esteem of the public so they can close down your account without notice. They also decide who sees your organic content. FB & IG continually strangle your list to force you to “pay to play” by buying advertising. The latest stats show only 5.2% of your followers actually see your organic content so you have this false sense of security thinking you're marketing your practice when, in fact, it's drying up right before your eyes. So, to counter this, I recommend you own the data to help prepare your practice to survive and thrive! You can no longer trust that audiences you have built on social media platforms will be available to you. The 1st party data is the future and the money is in your patient list data.it's become your best targeted list because they already raised their hand indicating they are interested in cosmetic rejuvenation. Use landing pages to capture your followers' name, email and cell so you can stay in touch no matter what happens. I'm imploring you to use the data and resources you already have built up over the years being in practice since it's no longer easy to come by. Another big challenge is Technical Advancements are coming at patients fast and furiously. Just google non-surgical and look what pops up. What that means to you is plenty of patients still need your surgical expertise; however, way more will opt for non-surgical procedures first to delay surgery So, meet them where they are now so you don't lose them to non-surgeons and med spas. Develop that relationship early so they come for non-surgical AND stay for surgical procedures and they come for SX and stay for non-SX for years to come. Given these challenges, how CAN you scale your practice and prepare your practice to survive and thrive? Attract more patients from proven marketing channels that worked for you to prepare your practice to survive and thrive You encourage these patients to Return more often & spend more at each visit to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Encourage referrals, reviews and sharing on social so you DON'T spend on advertising for new patients to help prepare your practice to survive and thrive This will take a mindset shift to prepare your practice to survive and thrive... The short-term, one-and-done mentality is a tough game to play in today's world. Instead, look at each patient as an unpaid practice revenue-generator who brings you new patients for free. Once you embrace this “patients for life” mindset, you will treat your patients differently and they will react in kind by building your practice for you organically. So, here's what I'm proposing to prepare your practice to survive and thrive… Enjoy the surgical side of your practice while also building up your non-surgical as a healthy stand-alone profit center and here's why… Patients enter different doors to cosmetic rejuvenation, so you want to meet them where they are. Some will go straight to SX and then stay for more, while others dabble in non-surgical, some for years, before they are ready for your SX option. And the beauty of our industry is that Cosmetic Consumers Have ENDLESS NEEDS. The non-surgical industry has grown dramatically thanks to social trends, social media and advanced technologies that continue to fuel the demand. And let's face it, we females are hard on ourselves. We stare in the mirror and critique ourselves and then we finally have had enough and do something about it and then what do we do? We find the next thing that bothers us about us and focus on that. It never ends and that's what keeps all of us in business! I also looked up the most recent Aesthetic society stats and non-SX is now 1/3 of all aesthetic procedures performed and that's growing. And, here's another interesting stat… Loyal non-SX patients spend 67% more than new patients and that makes sense because If they know, like and trust you, they are open to your recommendations and will gladly buy your packages when offered. This increases their lifetime value and decreases your advertising budget and that makes for a great P&L statement. So, it's the Retention of your patients that scales your practice using resources you already have and paid dearly for. You likely have a database of hundreds or thousands of patients. Can you imagine what would happen to your bottom line if a majority of them returned for more and referred their friends? I know for a fact many of them would gladly return and refer if given the opportunity. Heck, even google agrees: One day, I was so frustrated with all the changes going on in digital advertising and tripling your costs to get mediocre results, I googled how can I get more cosmetic patients and here's what google said. How to increase patient volume in your cosmetic surgery practice: Get more reviews for your cosmetic surgery practice Enhance your online presence Don't miss out on the social media platforms Positive or negative, respond to reviews Train your staff Build strong relations with existing patients, referrals will follow I happen to have a solution that addresses most of these so check out KissLoyaltyClub.com for details. BTW, here's the greatest missed opportunity Word-of-mouth referrals to prepare your practice to survive and thrive. That should be growing every year for you so if it's not, something is off. Duct Tape Marketing says 83% of business owners claim their main source of new business is referrals. But here's the crazy part... 93% of customers say they would refer their friends to you BUT only 29% actually do. Work on the 64% difference   – that's where the money is (not your TikTok videos) Do you even ask referrals? This cannot a happy accident. It needs to be a process. Treat your patients well, give them a great experience and results and then ask them to refer their friends. So, To pull this altogether, here is the structure to follow to scale your practice in this order. Increase referrals and reviews to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Retain more of your patients to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Add more value to differentiate you from your competitors to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Offer Ongoing staff training to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Increase the conversion rates of callers to appointments and consultations to paid procedures to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Increase your patient's transaction value to prepare your practice to survive and thrive Increase their frequency of visits and then when you have these fundamentals down to prepare your practice to survive and thrive, Now you Increase your leads/traffic because you are on your game and firing on all cylinders to prepare your practice to survive and thrive. But most surgeons have this backwards. They focus only on the bottom rung to increase leads, skip the leverage parts so they and their staff work a lot harder than necessary for less results. The goal is to create a system to scale your practice by 10X'ing the value of your non-surgical patients so if they are typically worth $1K to you, they are soon worth $10K to you because you have a proven system to compel them to return more often, refer more of their friends, give you reviews, and share you on social media with their followers. So, now you have peace of mind knowing you have a steady stream of patients coming in month after month to give you predictable revenues. This scalable system needs to be a creative solution that eliminates discounting, advertising and hiring more staff. This will ensure you operate more profitably so you keep more of the revenues you bring in. And this system needs to be on autopilot so you and your staff can focus on the patient experience. And this system needs to be unique to anything else out there because it changes the conversation. Here's what I mean… Most practices don't realize how insanely difficult it is to get a complete stranger to buy something from them, so they fall back on price, as in discounting their services. That message attracts price-shoppers but then you're frustrated that you're being nickel and dimed to death. All of this discounting hurts your profits and your image and it's a race to the bottom because you can't compete if you're barely covering your overhead. It's also not a fun way to run your practice.         So, with the creative system I'm proposing, you change the conversation from discounting to collecting KiSSes for free services to prepare your practice to survive and thrive. This makes it more fun for your patients to collect KiSSes to win something.  And, the most effective word in advertising has been and will always be FREE, so we use it strategically. So now your patients have fun collecting kisses and you keep way more of your profits and revenues. That's how you scale a cosmetic practice you enjoy going to and are proud of. I want to introduce you to the KiSS Loyalty club where your patients get KiSSes towards Free Cosmetic Services, rather than discounts so you keep more profits AND we do all the marketing for you so you don't have to hire more staff. Its sole purpose is to grow your revenues by encouraging your patients to return, refer, review, approve their before/after photos, shoot a video testimonial, share you on social media and complete a surgical procedure is optional. If that sounds interesting to you, please check out the details at KissLoyaltyClub.com and let's see if you're a good candidate for The Kiss Loyalty Club. You'll go through a quick, 1-minute assessment and then we'll talk. And, if you do that before 4th of July, I have a killer offer going on where you save up to $17,997 and get lots of free bonuses so go now to KissLoyaltyClub.com and I hope to talk to you soon.   P.S. This week on Open Sources Guelph, we're city folk! Municipal matters are top of mind on this edition of the show, as we look at independence day for three Ontario cities, and then that election to fill the vacant mayor's seat in Canada's biggest city. In the back half of the show, we will once again serve in our essential roll as the mandatory stop for all local Green Party candidates who want to get elected! This Thursday, May 25, at 5 pm, Scotty Hertz and Adam A. Donaldson will discuss: The Final a-Peel. The Ontario government announced last week that Peel is over. The region will be dissolved on January 1, 2025 as Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon become their own independent municipalities. Not a bad present for Doug Ford to give Bonnie Crombie on the eve of her announced bid to run the Ontario Liberals, but the question now is how much more meddling with municipalities is going to tale place in Ontario these next three years? DeepStar 6ix. The Toronto mayoral by-election is entering its final month of campaigning, and from all appearances right now it seems like it's Olivia Chow's to lose. At the very least, there are about five or six likely mayors in the field of 102 (!!) and they're facing off in a couple of different debates this week. Candidates are also throwing out policy fast and furiously so what can we expect in the final couple of weeks of this election, and can anyone consolidate enough support to take on Chow? Clancy Dance. Earlier this year, Kitchener Centre MPP Laura Mae Lindo announced that she would be stepping down at the end of the spring session, which means a by-election will be coming up the road sometime in the next couple of months. The Green Party has gotten ahead of things, buoyed by the local success of the Two Mikes (Morrice and Schreiner), and have acclaimed Kitchener councillor Aislinn Clancy as their nominee. This week, we'll talk to Clancy about being the first one in the race, why she wants to make a move to Queen's Park, and the potential fate of Waterloo Region under the current government. The Far Middle episode 80 features a co-dedication to both the 1980 U.S. Men's Ice Hockey Team, and to the incomparable and prolific Jerry Rice. Nick notes Rice’s collegiate career at Mississippi Valley State and the offensive innovation of Coach Archie Cooley. The topic of innovation sparks the start of this episode’s connections as Nick moves through a host of topics like Rice weaving through a secondary. While innovation represents growth, Nick zeroes in on the elitist organization, The Club of Rome, and their best-selling environmental book, The Limits to Growth. Nick looks at how the Club and its anti-capitalism/industrialization tenets have matriculated to the Church of Climate today and anti-growth initiatives disguised under the mask of sustainability. Nick notes the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, “outright prescriptions to stop growth and regress or reduce growth,” says Nick. He then questions how the term sustainability, a term so nebulous and hard to define, became so prevalent across society today. What’s not hard to define is the anti-growth, anti-free market ideology of the Left, and the linear sequencing of their trap. Nick proceeds to walk through how that sequence begins with a major policy that can impact almost everything across the economy, using the slew of energy and climate policies pushed by the Left as today’s biggest example. These policies create energy scarcity, which in turn leads to energy inflation and then overall inflation as the cost of energy is an input in nearly every product and service. Overall inflation leads to central banks fast and furiously raising interest rates. And when interest rates are raised, so too is the cost of carrying government debt. Skyrocketing debt service leads to either: increased deficits; higher taxes; and/or, reining in discretionary spending. Nick asks which of these three outcomes do you see happening as America experiences this sequencing in real time, and explains this is the trap of the Left’s no-growth approach. Nick concludes that policies coming from the elite class—whether it be The Club of Rome or the UN—have created a situation where society is checking in but can’t check out, which brings to mind the Eagles’ December 1976 release of Hotel California.

(10/20/22) The end of October brings the end of the current buyback blackout window, as earnings continue to come in, fast and furiously. Stocks are set to trade upwards this morning as the markets maintain a bullish trend. Interestingly, while markets were setting new lows, divergent indicators weren't, which is a bullish sign. Markets still need to break above 3,800. As we approach month's end and the close of the stock buyback blackout window, that should provide a bid to stocks, and any resulting rally is where you're going to want to sell and take some profits. Market trend is still negative, and as we move into year-end, and the Fed's rate hikes start to take a bite, corporate earnings and corporate profits will be negatively impacted. Are you curious how to build an automated lead generation process on LinkedIn? Well, if so, you're in the right place today. I'm going to teach you how to make an automated funnel on LinkedIn to grow your business smarter and faster. Let's jump into it. This is The Learn More, Earn More Business Growth Podcast. Hey, everyone. Welcome to the show. I'm your host, Brian Webb. This podcast is designed to be your number one premier place to learn the framework, secrets and growth hacks to grow and scale your business smarter and faster. While you're working on pursuing your dreams and growing your business, I'll be here to help you make better decisions and avoid costly pitfalls and expensive mistakes along the way. So let's go ahead and jump into today's episode. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to The Learn More, Earn More Business Growth Podcast.             If you're new here today, today is part three of a three-part LinkedIn masterclass. Episode 58, we talked about creator mode and the seven reasons that every B2B business leader should add this to your profile, and how to do it. Episode 59, we talked about part two, basically how to prospect like a pro, how to get 10 to 20 real leads or more every month from LinkedIn. Today, part three, the final part of this series anyway, is how to create an automated sales funnel on LinkedIn. And so today, we're going to talk about how to turn your LinkedIn company page into an automated sales funnel in just a handful of steps.             Remember prospecting is an organic process, meaning you're humanly reaching out to other people, trying to connect, and form those relationships. Today is going to be more about paid traffic. So the money that you give to LinkedIn to buy traffic or to buy media to get attention to your brand and to the products and services and offers that you have. LinkedIn ads offer really, really valuable opportunities to expand your reach because that's what they want you to do. They want you to pay them using one of their specific types of ads called native lead forms.             Again, we're always flying fast and furiously here on the podcast because you are a busy, busy person, but basically, a lead forum is when an ad pops up on LinkedIn and someone clicks on it. Instead of abandoning LinkedIn and going to your website, a form pops out with all of their information already populated from their account in the forum. All they have to do is click submit. LinkedIn likes this because they're less likely to leave the platform. You like it because it's bringing the information straight from their account, which is probably their real information, as opposed to them just giving you their juncture email address.             But before you run any ads, the first thing you've got to do, you've got to turn on conversion tracking in the platform. And to do this, to access conversion tracking, go to LinkedIn campaign manager, open your account, view your account assets, then create new conversions for each step of your sales funnel. For example, you might want to track leads, signups, new trials, subscriptions, whatever. You can also use this to track ad clicks and phone calls, so that's step one. And if you haven't heard of these acronyms, I'm going to share them with you for the first time.             TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU. TOFU stands for, top of funnel, MOFU, as you might guess, stands for middle of funnel, and BOFU stands for bottom of funnel. But for this next step, we're going to talk about top of the funnel. And when you think of the top, middle, or bottom of funnel, think of those as temperatures. So think of top of funnel as cold. Meaning the people who might not even know that you exist, or if they do, they have very little awareness about who you are, how valid you are. Think of MOFU or middle of funnel as people who have a little more exposure to your brand, your products, and your services. You've been nurturing them for a little while.             And then think of the bottom of funnel as where they're most likely to convert. This is when they're hot. Hopefully, the ones that are ever going to purchase from you. And they're the ones who are familiar with you. They have been exposed to your content, and it's time to start talking about your offers. So when people are at the top of your funnel, meaning they don't hardly know who you are, focus on organic type of posts that tell people about your business and introduce prospects to your products and services. Rather than providing tons of details, create short-form content. Entertain people, educate, always educate, and always engage.             Now, the next step that you're going to want to do when you're producing this top of funnel or TOFU content, it may reach hundreds or thousands of people if your company page has a sizeable following. But if you want your content to actually be seen, even if you're a smaller company, you're going to have to boost those top-performing posts on your LinkedIn company page. That way you can reach more of your target audience and keep adding new prospects into your funnel. So now, let's move to the MOFU, not to be confused with the MOFO. The MOFU, can't believe I said that.             The middle of your funnel at this point, prospects have moved past the getting to know you stage. They understand what your business does. They have a general idea of how your products and service that can help them. So at this point, you want to start focusing on creating more in-depth, more detail-type content. You can detail how your products can help, demonstrate how your services have worked for other people, and share competitive research that shows your business is a top choice. Social proof, social proof, social proof. We talk about that all the time.             Now, you can do this with regular text posts, but especially at this point, you might want to think about using images and video content, multimedia in your ongoing marketing efforts, in the middle of the funnel on LinkedIn. And by the way, if you weren't already aware, you could even upload a slide deck to LinkedIn, which will appear to the users on LinkedIn like a carousel. So if you have a slide deck prepared, for example, export that out to a PDF, upload that PDF as a document to your post, and it will look like an image carousel. So people can scroll through the various slides that you want them to see.             Next step, we want to get to some automated retargeting with paid content. Again, we're still in the middle of the funnel. One principle I teach all the time, it takes at least 21 to 24 times for your audience to engage with your brand before they go through those three phases of the relationship, right? They've never heard of you, maybe a little bit of awareness. You build trust through enlightenment. And then finally you get to that commitment, that engagement of some kind. They came to your event, webinar. They took a sales call. They signed up to be your customer. I stumbled into another statistic recently that had nothing to do with the number of times, it was the amount of time they consumed your content.             And the time was over five hours, meaning 21 to 24 times before they go through the process. This newer statistic that I'd bumped into suggests that they have to at least consume five hours of your content. So think about that for a second. Five hours, they see a post that's about two seconds. When you're posting videos, when you're posting documents, slide decks, PDFs, you're getting more of their attention. You might be getting more of their time. So at this point, you want to accelerate these touch points. You want to move people through this stage of the funnel more efficiently.             Okay, I'll get back to the podcast in just a minute, but let's face it, most marketing doesn't work. Did you know that most business owners and leaders are making the same mistakes over and over again? Like so many others. You're probably tired of relying on hope, which is a failed marketing system. You know what that is, that's when you're spending valuable time and money on marketing, and then you hope it works. You've probably thrown tons of money towards marketing mistakes and failures. You wish you could get all that money back, but you can't.             When you don't have a reliable system for generating leads and acquiring new customers, then you're doomed to exclusively rely on the loyalty of your existing customers and word of mouth. But it doesn't have to be that way. I want to give you a resource for free. You heard me right, free. I've put together the ultimate 97-point marketing audit checklist, which will allow you to assess and diagnose what is and is not working in your marketing. And it will only take you about 10 to 15 minutes. Think of it like an MRI for your marketing without the expensive medical bills to follow.             And to get this free marketing checklist delivered right to your email inbox, just go to getmymarketingchecklist.com, provide your info and we'll get it out to you right away. And again, it's totally free. I'd actually encourage you to walk through the checklist with your team and honestly discuss and evaluate every item on the list. It will be the best 10 minutes you've invested into the growth engine of your business in a long, long time. Again, don't waste another day or another dollar on failing hope marketing strategies that do not work.             If you want to grow and scale your business smarter and faster, and with fewer mistakes, you're in the right place. Again, totally free. Simply go to getmymarketingchecklist.com right now. Let's fix what's broken in your marketing today. This newer statistic that I bumped into suggests that they have to at least consume five hours of your content. So think about that for a second. Five hours. They see a post that's about two seconds. When you're posting videos, when you're posting documents, slide decks, PDFs, you're getting more of their attention. You might be getting more of their time.             So at this point, you want to accelerate these touch points. You want to move people through the stage of the funnel, more efficiently. Use campaign manager to run consideration-focused campaigns. If you use retargeting audiences, you can guide prospects through a customized series of touchpoints designed to address their specific needs. Here's an example, consider publishing an organic carousel post that links to a blog post introducing people to the topic, or create a LinkedIn video ad that takes a deeper dive into the topic and re-targets people who visited the blog post.             Publish a website traffic ad that links people to a detailed how-to guide and re-targets people who watch your LinkedIn video ad. And since this is a podcast and not a full-blown course, we can't go too deep here, but let's move to the next step, how to design bottom of funnel LinkedIn content? And remember bottom of funnel means these are people that you have been warming up, educating, entertaining, and engaging for an extended period of time. At this point, your prospects might have a strong interest in your solution, but something is preventing them from taking that final step.             Maybe they have lingering questions. Maybe they're checking out your competition, or they might be waiting for the right offer. If you can provide the final piece of that puzzle, there's a great chance that you can secure a new customer, a new sale. So let me give you some examples for your bottom of funnel, your BOFU content. Let's talk about LinkedIn live events. This lets you connect with your prospects in real-time, and you can follow up with attendees afterward to provide additional resources for them or make them offers for that matter. And by the way, while it's called LinkedIn live, you don't necessarily have to actually be live.             There's a tool out there called Stream Yard. You can literally produce a video, produce content and then have it post at a later time once you've polished it up. That being said, if you're going live, you need to be present in the live meaning you need to be available to chat, to get messages, to respond to people, but the video could have been pre-produced. And hopefully, prayerfully, coming soon, they're going to have audio-only events opening up to the rest of the platform. This is a platform not unlike ClubHouse, if you've heard of it, where you can go into a room, go live basically, but it will be an audio-only room.             So you can do it from your pajamas, from your home. You heard it from me first, but a couple more examples. Gated Content, Gated Content, lets your prospects download valuable guides and reports and all kinds of things in exchange for their information, their cell phone number, and their email address. You can nurture those leads, please do, please do, via email, text message, or direct mail, and add them to your retargeting audiences. Do you sell an actual product or are you a SaaS company? How about a free trial or a demo? Get prospects in the door and onboard them into your system.             Your final, you can automatically follow up with those leads, and encourage them to upgrade or subscribe to a paid plan. We're almost done. The last step, re-target your serious prospects automatically. I can tell you right now, if you're not running retargeting ads, you have an enormous hole in the side of your business. To lead prospects to a final stage of your sales funnel, your bottom of funnel, use lead generation and website conversion objectives for your LinkedIn retargeting campaigns. With the lead generation objective, you can encourage your prospects to fill out a native lead form to request a personal follow-up or to access your high-value lead magnet.             And if you don't know what a lead magnet is, go to getmymarketingchecklist.com, and intentionally give your real first name, your real last name, your real cell phone number, and your best email address. One, you'll need the resource, you want that resource. And two, it will allow you to go through a journey, a sales funnel journey to see what that experience is like. But as far as your ad is concerned on LinkedIn, you want to use lead generation as the objective. You can encourage prospects to fill up that native lead form we talked about to request a personal follow-up. So bottom line, before you build a funnel, take a few minutes to optimize your LinkedIn presence for lead generation and conversions.             Prospects might discover your business on LinkedIn in several different ways, through a search, seeing your ads, and organic content that you're sharing. When they visit your company page, however, you want them to find all of the information they need to trust your business. So have you uploaded an image and a cover image? Are you updating it regularly? Do you have CTA buttons or call to action buttons that link to your website? Are you doing a good job of showcasing your specialties? You can choose up to 20 of them by the way. And when you do this right, it actually guides the LinkedIn algorithm and increases your chance of appearing in a search.             So that's it for today, people. Again, getmymarketingchecklist.com, go check it out. Are you subscribed to my newsletter on LinkedIn, by the way, learnmoreearnmorenewsletter.com? Go there and subscribe. What a great show we have, Paul is here to share his insight into the wonderful world of kitchen repairs and contractors mistakes and of course, we are talking about those short cuts that eventually lead to failures and homeowners are left with dealing with the builder, warranties or bringing in a professional like Paul to get it done and get it done properly. His business and reputation grew very quickly because Paul found by dealing with smaller scope of work, he was able to fulfil the solution and make the client happy, his reviews grew fast and furiously and the word go around, Kitchen Fix was the brand to work with. Anyone in this industry knows you can never please every client and they will leave bad reviews, even bad reviews on your quote and Paul has learned, move on, just accept you can't please everyone and go find another client. Paul has built his business on efficiency, clients submit a pic, he reviews the scope, he brings what he needs, they fabricate on site, set up his tools in the underground, parking lot, down the street, not matter as long as he has the space to build what he needs and always wraps up the day by cleaning everything up, keeping the home safe and clean. All about the final impression his brand leaves his clients. Paul is very clear on how he works, the skills he provides, and he does get a lot of clients asking for ballparks, he doesn't do that, he asks for pics of what the scope is, he determines the work and cost and presents it. He never goes back to fix any of his work, he has his standards and clients feel he is high, he tells clients that he is high but the work will never have to be done again. Set your standard and build from that level. Paul calls it “Deceptively Complex”, this industry, you are the brand and once you wrap your mindset around that, you will be hugely successful.Shared and Discussed Linkshttps://www.blum.com/ca/en/company/about-blum-canada/https://www.salice.com/us/en/products/hingeshttps://www.grass.at/1404.html?L=1https://www.leevalley.com/en-cahttps://www.richelieu.com/ca/en/https://www.hafele.ca/en/Thank You so much Paul for sharing so much about the industry. We have come to know what it's like to live with COVID-19, even if we don't like, but almost exactly two years ago today, we were freaking out. Remember wiping down your groceries with anti-bacterial wipes? Remember the run on toilet paper? Remember when we thought we could stamp this out in two weeks? Times sure have changed, but are we really at the end of COVID considering how it began? On this day in 2020, March 16, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health announced the region's first case of COVID-19. The anonymously famous person was a man in his 40s who just returned from a trip to Atlanta, Georgia and then tested positive at the Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville. Meanwhile, the list of shutdowns, closures and cancellations got longer and longer.  Those were weird, wild, and crazy days. News was coming fast and furiously, and no one knew what what was going to happen next. Two years later, we're still being affected by COVID even though we're trying to make a case to ourselves that the pandemic is over. Meanwhile, only 14 per cent of people in low income countries have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and in South Africa, where the especially virulent Omicron variant was first detected, less than 30 per cent of people have been fully vaccinated.  So on this edition of the podcast we are going back to where it all began. On the week of March 16, 2020 Open Sources Guelph co-host Scotty Hertz produced an hour-long daily newscast to bring people the latest news and information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, and its impact on the people of Guelph. As we listen, let's remember just how far we've come in the last two years. Yes, it's felt like we've been spinning in place for the last 24 months, but let us also recognize the progress we've made. So let's go back to beginning on this week's Guelph Politicast.  Looking two years later, the Government of Ontario has announced the end of mask mandates on March 21, but some people are trying to keep the mandates in place for schools Check out those details here and here. The government also has an eye to end all COVID restrictions at the end of April, but we will keep you posted with all the latest developments here on Guelph Politico. ⬇️. ⬇️. ⬇️. Easier Way To Scale Practice Revenues (Ep.142) Hello and welcome to this episode of Beauty and the Biz where we discuss how to get surgeons more patients and more profits through an easier way to scale practice revenues. This episode is entitled Easier Way To Scale Practice Revenues And it's especially for you if you're struggling to grow your practice without dramatically increasing your overhead. So, I'll talk about: What is takes to scale your practice The challenges coming at you and how to pivot How to thrive and survive no matter what is going on in the world. Because the objective is to set up your cosmetic surgical practice as a business so it's more profitable, more enjoyable to go to every day, and it frees up your valuable time, so you have more of it to spend doing what you like to do with the people you most enjoy being with. Because the ultimate goal to scale their practice includes a system that attracts a steady stream of cash-paying patients WITHOUT spending a fortune on advertising, chasing down leads, hiring more staff, discounting services or performing on social media. To achieve scalable impact, here's what you need: Leverage – use your assets you already have to generate more revenues with less effort and overhead Bankable Profits – not just revenues, but profits you actually take out of the practice and Transferrable Value – means you have separated you from the practice so you have the freedom to sell to someone else when it's time to exit But there are challenges ahead…. Privacy issues are killing your plans for attracting new patients to your practice. So much is happening behind the scenes with apple, google and FB trying to dominate consumer data capture, so they are no longer sharing data with advertisers like before. This makes it very difficult for you to attract new PREFERRED patients when you can no longer target specifically to certain audiences.  And that means Ad results will become incomplete and inaccurate because you now have only 10% of the data that used to be 100% available and will face more difficulties finding an easier way to scale practice revenues. So that forces you to increase your advertising budget substantially, as in 30-80% and HOPE the broader, less targeted audience is interested in cosmetic rejuvenation. And there is cause and effect to everything. This major increase in advertising costs has now made SEO popular again; however, the supply is much greater than the demand so it's getting near impossible to rank on the 1st page. On top of that, Google is turning into an answer engine in which they are answering consumer questions without them having to go to a website. So, you need really good fresh content that entices consumers to click and stay on your website. This is not an easier way to scale practice revenues since it takes time, money and energy to create that incredible content. Another huge challenge you want to plan for is your social media strategy. You most likely are paying someone to do this for you OR you're spending a lot of your own time posting to add more followers. But please keep in mind, you are only renting those followers. IG and FB own them so they are your landlord. They can raise the rent and/or kick you out at any time, so you lose your data you've spent years collecting. I'm sure you're aware that social media and plastic surgery don't get along. You are showing graphic material that can be offensive or hurt the self-esteem of the public so these platforms can close down your account without notice. To counter this dilemma, I recommend you own the data! You can no longer trust that audiences you have built on social media platforms will be available to you. The 1st party data is the future and the money is in your patient list data. Your followers become your best targeted list because they already raised their hand indicating they are interested in cosmetic rejuvenation. Just google non-surgical and look what pops up what that means to you is plenty of patients still need your surgical expertise; however, way more will opt for non-surgical procedures first to delay surgery. So, meet them where they are now so you don't lose them to non-surgeons and med-spas. The point is to develop that relationship early so they come for non-surgical AND stay for surgical procedures, thus, an easier way to scale practice revenues. So, Give these challenges, how CAN you scale your practice? Attract more patients from proven sources Return more often & spend more Encourage referrals, reviews and sharing on social so you DON'T spend on advertising for new patients. This will take a mindset shift…. The short-term, one-and-done mentality no longer works. Instead, look at each patient as an unpaid practice revenue-generator who brings you new patients for free. Once you embrace this “patients for life” mindset, you will treat your patients differently and they will react in kind by building your practice for you organically. So, here's what I'm proposing… Enjoy the surgical side of your practice while also building up your non-surgical as a healthy stand-alone profit center and here's why…. Patients enter different doors to cosmetic rejuvenation, so you want to meet them where they are. Some will go straight to surgical and then stay for more, while others dabble in non-surgical, some for years, before they are ready for your surgical option and give you a path to an easier way to scale practice revenues. And the beauty of our industry is that Cosmetic Consumers Have ENDLESS NEEDS The non-surgical industry has grown to over $3BB dollars and continues to grow thanks to social trends, social media and advanced technologies that continue to fuel the demand. And let's face it, we females are hard on ourselves. We stare in the mirror and critique ourselves and then we finally have enough and do something about it and then what do we do? We find the next thing that bothers us about us and focus on that. It never ends and that's what keeps all of us in business! I also looked up the most recent Aesthetic society stats and non-surgical is now 1/3 of all aesthetic procedures performed and growing. And, here's another interesting stat… Loyal non-surgical patients spend 67% more than new patients and that makes sense because If they know, like and trust you, they are open to your recommendations and will gladly buy your packages when offered. Here's the best part…. a 5% increase in non-surgical patient retention increases your profits by 25% – 95%. Because recurrent non-surgical patients tend to buy more, return more often and refer their friends, which is an easier way to scale practice revenues. Heck, even Google agrees: One day, I was so frustrated with all the changes going on in digital advertising and tripling your costs to get mediocre results, I "Googled" how can I get more cosmetic patients and Google said: Get more reviews Enhance your online presence Use social media Respond to reviews Train your staff Build strong relations with existing patients and referrals will follow   BTW, here's the greatest missed opportunity: Word-of-mouth referrals. Also, an easier way to scale practice revenues. Duct Tape Marketing says 83% of business owners claim their main source of new business is referrals. But here's the crazy part... 93% of consumers say they would refer their friends to you BUT only 29% actually do. So, the smart thing to do is to work on that difference of 64% – that's where the money is (not your TikTok videos) Word of mouth referrals are not a happy accident You need to champion patients by asking them – making it easy and reminding them To pull this altogether, here is the structure to follow for an easier way to scale practice revenues in this order. Increase referrals and reviews Retain more patients Add more value to differentiate you from your competitors Ongoing staff training Increase your conversion rate Increase your patients' transaction value Increase frequency of patient visits THEN Increase leads and more web traffic   But most practices have this backwards. You'll agree that this is an easier way to scale practice revenues. This scalable system needs to be a creative solution that eliminates discounting and decreases advertising. This will ensure you operate more profitably so you keep more of the revenues you bring in. And this system needs to be on autopilot so you and your staff can focus on the patient experience. It also needs to be unique to anything else out there by changing the conversation. Here's what I mean… Most practices don't realize how insanely difficult it is to get a complete stranger to buy something from them, so they fall back on price, as in discounting their services. That message attracts price-shoppers but then you're frustrated that you're being nickel-and-dimed to death. All of this discounting hurts your profits and your image and it's a race to the bottom because you can't compete if you're barely covering your overhead. It's also not a fun way to run your practice.         So, the solution is to change the conversation from discounting to rewarding your patients with free cosmetic services since the most effective word in advertising has been and will always be FREE, so we use it strategically to create an easier way to scale practice revenues. This makes it more fun for your patients to work towards winning something and you keep way more of your profits and revenues. That's how you scale a cosmetic practice you enjoy going to and are proud of. If that sounds interesting to you, please check out www.KISSLoyalty.com for the details.   P.S. John 1:1-5, 10-14, 16-18In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth. From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known.I want to tell you about and show you a piece of art I learned of recently. It was created by two Chinese artists named Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, who first had this particular work installed at the Guggenheim and later at another museum in Venice. This work of art is an “installation,” really, that includes a robotic arm, confined behind glass walls, like a cage, some say, and programmed to contain and clean up a constant flow of fluid that spills out from – and all around – the machine itself. Here. It's better if you just see it for yourselves…This robotic arm is “artificially intelligent” enough so that when it senses there are enough spectators around watching, it will take a moment or two to dance for those on-lookers. Like, it knows how to “shake its booty,” “scratch an itch,” and “bow and shake.” (Those are the actual names of the dance moves the artists taught the robot.) And it does all of this in ways that look surprisingly human – for a robotic arm anyway. If I understand correctly, I believe it will also stop and dance – celebrating, perhaps – at times when it senses that the fluid is appropriately under control. But then it has to get back to work, of course. It never stops for long.Of course, there are many ways to interpret all of this. And like so many artists it's hard to know exactly what Sun Yuan and Peng Yu are getting at with this particular work. Some have suggested it's a commentary on authoritarian political rule, managing borders and controlling people. Others have seen it as a comment on the nature of work in some cultures – that there is always more to be done, that we don't rest, and that when we do take a breath – to dance, for instance – we just find ourselves pressured to catch up, which is impossible to do.One interpretation that got my attention was the idea that the fluid leaking from and leaving the robot is also its life-source – that it was no mistake that the hydraulic fluid looks like blood – and that the robot needs to keep shoveling it toward itself in order to survive and that, because it stopped too much or too often to rest, or dance, or show-off for the spectators who came to watch, it was slowly dying as more and more of its life-source was lost.So I wondered about it in light of Blue Christmas and the grief or hardship or struggle – or whatever it is – that draws us together for a service like this one. That the world, at times like Christmas, especially – but most days, really – doesn't leave much room or give much permission for grieving, hardship, or struggle. And that leaves so many of us behaving like some kind of robotic arm – our emotions and our fear and our sadness and our grief looking to leak and leave and escape from our very selves, while we work so hard – so fast and furiously – so endlessly and tirelessly – to keep it all so close to the vest. And on top of it, much like the robotic arm, we do our best to dance, to perform, and to pretend for whoever's watching, that everything is okay, that we're fine, that all is well – or at least better than it really feels, deep down. And we never let too much of what we're really thinking, really feeling, really fearing or grieving or whatever, get too far away from us, too close to anyone else, so as not to make too much of a mess for them to worry about.Does any of that feel familiar or is it just me?If so, I wonder what all of that fluid represents for any one of us here, or for anyone watching from home. If that fluid was clear and a little salty, like so many tears, perhaps, what would be its source? What are we trying to keep to ourselves? To keep from escaping? To keep from our family and friends? To protect ourselves from having to share too much of with the world?I imagine that liquid stands for “fear” or “addiction” or “abuse” for some. I wonder if it means “overwhelmed,” or “secrets” or “doubt” about all of this for others. Does it represent an illness or an injustice? Is it a sadness that's brand new or one that won't go away? Is it an anger you can't quench or a forgiveness you can't extend or a concern for someone else you don't know how to address? What is it these days that we may not even have words for – so that we just keep keeping it to ourselves, shoveling it in, pulling it back, never letting it get far enough away so that we might actually let it go?See, what also got my attention about this unsettling work of art – what really connected it to Christmas for me – is its name. The artists call it “Can't Help Myself.” And I don't think it was inspired by The Four Tops. (“I can't help myself…” “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch…”) No. “Can't Help Myself,” strikes me as something much more meaningfully connected to what God is up to at Christmas.Because God knows we're only fooling ourselves. When we stay locked up and locked away in our grief or our fear or our struggle or whatever it may be… when we keep it to ourselves… when we just keep pulling it in, never letting it get too far out of reach. When we keep dancing and performing as though all is well, we are denying the reality – and missing the chance to see – that God showed up, in Jesus, knowing that we can't help ourselves. One of the greatest gifts of God, in Jesus, in the flesh, in the end, is that God reminds us God is not some kind of artificial intelligence and that we are more than robots. And not only are we free to be just who and how God created us to be, but we are free and encouraged to feel just exactly how we are feeling at any given moment – afraid and faithful; lonely and well-loved; angry and forgiving; sinful and forgiven; grieving and hopeful. And that we were never meant to help or to save or to redeem ourselves. Because we can't.God shows up, in Jesus, to live this life we live with all of its struggle.God shows up, in Jesus, to teach us that light comes in the morning; that forgiveness is offered for sins; that what is lost can be found; that life follows death, even.God shows up, in Jesus, so that we can stop pretending and performing; so that we can stop scrambling for what seems elusive and futile; so we can see in ourselves and each other the face of this Jesus: the common ground of our humanity, the forgiveness of our sins, the light in our darkness, our life everlasting. So I hope tonight is nothing more and nothing less than a chance for us to stop dancing – to remember that our life's blood isn't escaping it is on the way, in fact.God shows up in Jesus, not to end all of our suffering and struggle, but to show us that we can share it… let it go… expose it to the light of God's love, and to help us to bear it and to forgive it and to have hope in spite of it, that it will all be redeemed – not by our efforts – but always and only by God's grace, in the end.Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Tanya Perilli is today's delicious guest and she has a fantastic story to share.Tanya grew up with a seamstress grandmother and mother in a small country town in far North Queensland, where there were more fabric stores than dress shops. Fashion was in the blood from an early age. Tanya excelled through her schooling years and was named captain of her High School in Year 12. Despite just missing out on an Architecture degree, she was offered a scholarship at the Queensland College of Art for a Fine Arts degree. Unsure of how she could sustain a life with a Fine Arts degree, with the help and advice of her parents Tanya decided on a different career path and proceeded to complete an Engineering & Construction Management degree at James Cook University. Her journey through the mainly male dominated construction world is a fascinating one and saw Tanya work around the world on some incredible projects, one very close to my heart, Marks & Spencers and their Food Halls! Family circumstances brought her back to Australia and eventually she circled back to her love of fashion and fabrics. She would find herself endlessly searching for something new to wear to the next event or dinner. Following a conversation with a friend in early 2019 she decided to do further research on the fashion rental platforms around the world like Rent the Runway and Armarium in the US, where she learnt about and fully understood the negative impact the fashion industry, and specifically the fast fashion sector, had on the environment. The more she investigated the fashion rental business model the more interested she became as there were so many aspects to consider. Tanya saw this as an opportunity to bring together her entrepreneurial spirit and instincts together with her engineering and project management training, experience, and know-how. Tanya found that although fashion rental in Australia was growing fast and furiously, there was no one offering high fashion on luxury loan. The Fashion Alta Moda business was borne.I was like a kid in a candy store looking through some of Tanya's incredible pieces you can follow her on instagram or take a look at the wonderful collection she has curated below. An amazing story and truly lovely lady. Enjoy!!https://www.fashionaltamoda.com.au/Instagram fashionaltamodax See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

"Fronted by the husband-and-wife team of Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, the Arcade Fire's emotional debut -- rendered even more poignant by the dedications to recently departed family members contained in its liner notes -- is brave, empowering, and dusted with something that many of the indie rock genre's more contrived acts desperately lack: an element of real danger. Funeral's mourners -- specifically Butler and Chassagne -- inhabit the same post-apocalyptic world as London Suede's Dog Man Star; they are broken, beaten, and ferociously romantic, reveling in the brutal beauty of their surroundings like a heathen Adam & Eve. "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)," the first of four metaphorical forays into the geography of the soul, follows a pair of young lovers who meet in the middle of the town through tunnels that connect to their bedrooms. Over a soaring piano lead that's effectively doubled by distorted guitar, they reach a Lord of the Flies-tinged utopia where they can't even remember their names or the faces of their weeping parents. Butler sings like a lion-tamer whose whip grows shorter with each and every lash. He can barely contain himself, and when he lets loose it's both melodic and primal, like Berlin-era Bowie. "Neighborhood #2 (Laïka)" examines suicidal desperation through an angular Gang of Four prism; the hypnotic wash of strings and subtle meter changes of "Neighborhood #4 (7 Kettles)" winsomely capture the mundane doings of day-to-day existence; and "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)," Funeral's victorious soul-thumping core, is a goose bump-inducing rallying cry centered around the notion that "the power's out in the heart of man, take it from your heart and put it in your hand." Arcade Fire are not bereft of whimsy. "Crown of Love" is like a wedding cake dropped in slow motion, utilizing a Johnny Mandel-style string section and a sweet, soda-pop-stand chorus to provide solace to a jilted lover yearning for a way back into the fold, and "Haiti" relies on a sunny island melody to explore the complexities of Chassagne's mercurial homeland. However, it's the sheer power and scope of cuts like "Wake Up" -- featuring all 15 musicians singing in unison -- and the mesmerizing, early-Roxy Music pulse of "Rebellion (Lies)" that make Funeral the remarkable achievement that it is. These are songs that pump blood back into the heart as fast and furiously as it's draining from the sleeve on which it beats, and by the time Chassagne dissects her love of riding "In the Backseat" with the radio on, despite her desperate fear of driving, Funeral's singular thread is finally revealed; love does conquer all, especially love for the cathartic power of music." - James Christopher Monger, All MusicSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/polyphonic-press1229/donations

We're excited to dig into not just the numbers, but everything that has been going on behind the scenes. It doesn't make sense to only talk about what happened, and not about how it affected revenue and profit, or to just talk about revenue and profit and not about what actually made it happen. We think it's really important to talk about both, and there aren't enough conversations going on about truly how much it costs to run a service-based business, so today we're going to lift the veil! Multiple medical societies, physician groups, and prominent physicians have been silenced across a multitude of mainstream social media platforms. Doctor's Lounge host Dr. Scott Barbour will discuss an opinion published by Lionel Lee, DO on the website of AAPS (Association of American Physicians and Surgeons) explaining the threat. From the Opinion - "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press...". The Constitution plainly and clearly states the importance of allowing every American, including physicians, to speak freely without concern for censorship. By now, most of the medical community has seen the recent press conference and videos posted all over social media by the group called America's Frontline Physicians. The videos garnered nearly 20 million views all within a few hours, before being removed by Big Tech for "violation of community standards." The irony is that these physicians were speaking on the steps of our Supreme Court before Big Tech stepped on their ability to meaningfully exercise their First Amendment rights. Why did Big Tech work so fast and furiously to remove these videos in the name of "violation of community standards"? The question I have is, what standards and which community?

Don't sleep on the New England Patriots swooping in and scooping up Justin Fields, leaving the Steelers with Kyle Trask. That's because the NFL is a literal arms race. It's all about the passer. But here your Pittsburgh Steelers sit with a plethora of needs, eight picks in the NFL draft, the first of which is at slot 24. Quarterbacks abound in this draft, but the top five, including Fields, could be off the board in the first 10 to 12 picks. The clearest message the tight-lipped Steelers brass have communicated is that they do not want to trade up. They prefer holding onto their eight selections, including five in the top 140 slots of the draft. Fine, I guess. But this scenario leaves the Steelers with… drum roll please... Kyle Trask out of Florida. That's because I believe your favorite football team is going in looking for a live arm in the ultimate arms race that is the NFL. As for all those other positions Pittsburgh supposedly needs right now? All of them are shorter term. Nothing ensures a franchise's long-term future like a franchise QB. Hence the name. When you realize this, drafting a passer must always be within arm's reach of any team. Most especially, your soon-to-be-Big-Ben-less Steelers. Needless to say, a plethora of Pittsburgh draft predictions are flying fast and furiously as the seconds stick down to the Steelers being on the clock. In such a short span of time, technology has created new social norms, new human behaviours, new business models and new ecosystems. We as individuals, have also developed digital profiles, defined by the technological touch points we engage with every day. These touchpoints produce data that relates to predictive behaviour and this predictive behaviour will be the basis for a new economy. This combined with the future capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a closely networked Global economy, means we have to approach problems differently today, differently than we have in the past. Amy Brenneman gives a heart wrenching, poignant, and beautiful performance. We find out many unanswered questions like, why'd she join the GR cult? Any illness, any chronic decline, any problem that causes systemic dysfunction, requires a complete diagnosis. First, the causes. Let's go back to the start. Bills 28 & 22 that stripped collective bargaining from the BC Teachers Federation. The 10 years plus court battles it sustained. The simultaneous decline in the funding of education. School Boards trapped by law to absorb the pressure and take the heat. Downloading the costs of supplies and activities no longer funded onto parents and Parent Advisory Councils. The 2014 BCTF strike and the infamous clause E80, dictating class size & composition. The political failure of "Parent Bribes". The change to Per-Student Funding to continue the slide. The effects followed fast and furiously. 240 school closures in the Liberal era. Forced competition between communities to keep their schools open  Delays of a decade or more for the schools seismic upgrades program. Lead showing up in the drinking water. Years of neglected maintenance everywhere in the system. Overcrowding of existing schools going unaddressed. The abandonment of true Special Needs education where the numbers showed it necessary. The creation of wide-spread inequality in education delivery and outcomes. Is there a cure? It should be obvious by now what does not work and who will continue the same treatments. What is needed is a new therapy, a new regimen to begin to heal this, a diagnosis to stop the bleeding. Sarah Millar (@waitinginBC) is a working mother, activist, organizer of parent advocacy for education, photographer and Huffington Post blogger who has devoted her energies to assessing this disease.
