This week, Scott sat down with his Lawfare colleagues Senior Editors Molly Roberts and Eric Columbus, and Contributing Editor Renée DiResta, to talk through the week's big domestic news stories, including:“Signed, Sealed, Undelivered.” As the first mail ballots of the 2026 midterms go out this week, a fast-moving legal fight over President Trump's effort to reshape mail-in voting is racing toward the Supreme Court. At issue is a new U.S. Postal Service rule—stemming from a Trump executive order—that requires states to submit absentee voters' information to a federal portal before USPS will deliver their mail-in ballots. A federal ruling in Massachusetts blocked key parts of the rule last week, the administration is appealing, and a separate challenge is pending in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, an anonymous whistleblower in the U.S. Postal Service has come forward and warned that the hastily built portal it intends to use to vet mailed ballots is so untested and unforgiving that a single scanning error could stop tens of thousands of ballots from reaching voters. How did we get here? And what is it likely to mean for November's election?“Meta Culpa.” Last week, Meta abruptly settled a landmark child-safety case midway through trial, agreeing to pay a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general as much as $17 billion and to overhaul how teenagers experience Instagram and Facebook. The proposed consent judgment—which has been approved by a federal judge in California—would require a default two-hour daily time limit for users under 18, a midnight-to-6 a.m. “night mode,” hidden “like” counts, stronger age checks, and a school-hours notification cutback, most of it locked in for a decade. It's being billed as the largest big-tech settlement ever, but some children's advocates are warning that its terms don't touch the recommendation algorithms at the heart of the problem. Is this a turning point for social media regulation—or just a manageable cost of doing business?“Strictly Ballroom.” On Monday, a divided Supreme Court cleared the way for President Trump to keep building his enormous new White House ballroom, staying a lower-court injunction that had halted construction on the site of the now-demolished East Wing. But the 5-4 ruling in National Park Service v. National Trust for Historic Preservation didn't actually decide whether the project is lawful. Instead, the majority held that the challengers—led by an architectural historian who regularly walks her dog past the White House—lacked standing to sue, deeming her objection to the ballroom mere “offense” rather than a concrete aesthetic injury. In an unusual twist, Chief Justice Roberts wrote the principal dissent, joined by the Court's three Democratic appointees, arguing that the Court has left standing doctrine even murkier than it found it. So what did the Court actually decide? And what might it mean for other legal challenges to Trump's refashioning of our nation's capital, and beyond? In object lessons, the summer has left most of our crew hungry for more. Eric is eating up the tropical goodness of certain (glass-free) Outshine fruit bars. Molly is savoring the simplicity of an in-season tomato. Scott is perfecting his process for perfect pizza. And Renée stands alone snackless, squeezing out the last of her summer stress with a NeeDoh squishy. To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare. Troy of The Secret Commonwealth emailed a sad follow up back in March to the news about his friend who was illegally held in ICE custody: "Marc, thank you so much for sharing the fundraiser for my friend on your new episode. It is with profoundly heavy heart that I have to tell you that my friend died last Sunday of a heart attack. He had been moved to a hospital in Mississippi and apparently suffered two successive attacks. His body is being returned now. To say we are devastated and infuriated would be inadequate to describe our state of being. We had just been sending his lawyers important records and documents that we felt, along with his obvious serious health conditions, had a very good chance of securing his release. We'll never know now if that would have proven to be true, but we just needed him to endure a little while longer, which he ultimately could not. He died one month short of a year since being detained by ICE. I have not yet publicly announced this in an update to our fundraiser because, frankly, it's still too fresh and painful to address. But any proceeds we've made will obviously now be put toward the cost of his funeral service. Sorry to impart this bad news, but I mostly wanted to express my gratitude to you for your kind support on behalf of Pejman's family, my girlfriend (who was his dearest friend in the world and who spearheaded this fight for his freedom) and for me. Best to you,"
In this special, no-news edition of The A.M. Update, Aaron McIntire sits down with Jimmy Moon, a father from Sacramento, California, for one of the most powerful testimonies he's ever heard. Jimmy opens up about the terrifying early hospitalization of his daughter, now three years old, and the promise he made to God in the midst of that trial. He also shares his personal journey through suicidal ideation as a young man, and how that experience later led him to found a small local ministry that places highlighted scripture references into donated Bibles for others walking through similar struggles. Aaron reflects on why stories like Jimmy's matter, especially for those who follow the news closely enough to feel worn down by it. This episode is a reminder that God is still at work, even when the headlines tempt us to believe otherwise.

Chinese brands took 7,070 registrations or 7.5% of the market, led by BYD on 2,195, MG on 2,003 and Jaecoo on 1,987, but were outsold by Renault alone on 13,128, ahead of Peugeot on 11,716 and Tesla on 5,038, of which 4,622 were the Model Y, France's best-selling BEV.MOST USED EVS RETAIN ABOUT 90% CAPACITY AT 150,000KMAn Aviloo study of more than 500,000 battery-health tests across 20 popular models in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia between 2022 and 2026 found most used EVs retained about 90% of usable battery capacity at 150,000km, with median state-of-health scores ranging from 87% to 94%, led at that mileage by the Mercedes-Benz EQA at 93.97% and Hyundai Ioniq 5 at 93.79%, and trailed by the Nissan Leaf at 86.67%, Mini Cooper SE at 87.11% and Renault Zoe at 87.33%. Chinese models were excluded for lack of data, air-cooled and smaller batteries such as the Zoe and Leaf degraded faster, the Leaf ZE1 showed a 13.5-percentage-point spread between individual cars, and with warranties typically covering eight years or 160,000km and requiring replacement below 70%, the findings strengthen calls for mandatory battery-health certification since identical age and mileage can mask very different treatment.KIA OPENS CANADIAN ORDERS FOR 2027 EV4 GTKia has opened factory orders for the 2027 EV4 GT at certified Canadian dealerships from CA$58,595, its third "affordable" EV to get GT treatment, replacing the standard car's front-wheel drive with a 288-horsepower dual-motor all-wheel-drive system paired to an 81.4kWh battery for an estimated 431km of range. The GT adds GT-exclusive neon-accented brake calipers, 20-inch alloys, suede and synthetic-leather seats, a GT instrument cluster and a steering-wheel GT boost button, sitting above the standard EV4 that launched in Canada in late 2025 from CA$38,995 as what Kia called the country's most affordable EV.HONDA SEEKS 1.5 TRILLION YEN IN SAVINGSHonda is seeking 1.5 trillion yen ($9.4 billion) in savings by 2030 to improve its car business, expecting cumulative EV-related losses to exceed $12 billion and shifting towards hybrids while under pressure from Chinese manufacturers including BYD, which are taking share in Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe on software, battery technology and the industry's lowest prices. Honda briefed major suppliers on the plan in spring and, according to internal documents, is targeting a 30% cost reduction in pressed and forged components, electrical parts and software-defined-vehicle parts, with individual targets issued to suppliers afterwards.MNDOT OFFERS $41.2 MILLION FOR UP TO 40 SITESMnDOT is offering $41.2 million in its third and largest NEVI round for fast-charging sites across Greater Minnesota, expecting to award up to 40 locations across 74 eligible areas with no more than one station funded in each, now able to go beyond I-35, I-90 and I-94 after the federal government certified those routes as fully built-out corridors. Funded sites must provide at least four NACS and four CCS1 connectors delivering a minimum 150kW per port with all ports in simultaneous use, be open during the host business's hours, and include an ADA-compliant charging space, adequate lighting, security cameras or staff, and snow removal within two hours of storms exceeding an inch — even though most earlier interstate sites have yet to open.TESLA US SALES DROP 26% IN AUGUSTMotor Intelligence estimated Tesla sold 40,816 vehicles in the United States in August 2026, down 26% from 55,500 a year earlier and its largest year-over-year monthly decline of 2026, with demand appearing to stabilise around 40,000 units a month, below the 47,000 monthly average of the first half of 2025 and below tax-credit-inflated third-quarter volumes. Ending Model S and Model X production, extending Model Y and Model 3 offers, starting Model Y L deliveries, expanding a certified pre-owned programme from $20,600 and fully claiming California's MyFirstEV allocation within days did not materially change the trajectory.VOLVO GLOBAL SALES FALL 7.4% FROM JUNE THROUGH AUGUSTVolvo Cars sold 148,239 vehicles globally from June through August, down 7.4% year over year despite a 13% rise in electrified sales — fully electric up 27%, plug-in hybrids down 1% — which made up 53.5% of global volume, with the decline blamed on China's continuing downturn and weaker US demand for electrified models. The company expects a significantly stronger second half as EX60 deliveries ramp up from Gothenburg production that began in spring at around $60,000 in the US, alongside European growth and continued US recovery, while shifting more output stateside to cut tariff exposure with XC60 production starting in South Carolina later this year and global Polestar 3 production consolidated there.XPENG TAKES UK COMMERCIAL CONTROLXpeng is establishing its own UK national sales company, taking ownership of its UK operations and responsibility for strategic and commercial development while retaining International Motors — the Subaru and Isuzu importer that originally handled its UK shipping and retail — as a provider of operational infrastructure and local distribution expertise. Having entered the UK last year with the G6, delivering 1,800 units through 48 dealers in England, Wales and Scotland, Xpeng plans to add the X9 MPV as an ID Buzz rival and the L03 coupé-crossover, sold as Mona in China, though no UK launch date or pricing has been announced and an entry price below £40,000 would pitch it against the Skoda Enyaq and Ford Explorer.35% OF SCREEN-EQUIPPED OWNERS NEVER USE THEMJD Power's 2026 U.S. Tech Experience Index study, surveying 68,084 owners of vehicles with passenger screens, found 35% had never used the screen and only 6% used it every drive, even as the feature spreads through new vehicles. Smart ignition, climate control and driver-preference settings scored highest for satisfaction with the fewest problems while added complexity in driver-assistance features lowered scores, suggesting owners prefer predictable technology and that a screen — a cheap, simple way to make a plain dashboard look advanced, useful for passenger HVAC control or films on long trips — improves appearance rather than the ownership experience.
In Part 2 with tax attorney Matthew Rappaport, we go deeper into the complexities of 1031 exchanges for real estate partnerships. Matt breaks down the holding-period myth behind drop-and-swaps, why transaction sequencing matters, and how the risks can differ in California and New York. We also explore partnership divisions under Section 708, why special allocations often don't work, the limitations of Section 761(a) elections, and what Rev. Proc. 2002-22 actually means for tenancy-in-common arrangements. Hour 4 (9.02) Timmy pushes back on LA28’s planned exclusive Olympic roadway network: 369 miles of Los Angeles streets, including key corridors, could become permit-only for athletes, coaches, and officials — leaving locals, even the millionaires and billionaires who live along those routes, facing possible hefty fines if they get caught using the roads to get home. The hour also hits the fight to save urgent care and emergency services in wealthy Laguna Beach. Then true-crime author Laurel Woods joins in studio to talk about her memoir Strip Club Heiress: growing up in Westlake Village with a retired CHP officer dad who entered the strip-club business, the 1989 murder of his business partner, his 2000 conviction and years in the California prison system, the employee-turned-star-witness who wore a wire, and why Laurel still believes her father is guilty even though he has always maintained his innocence. Eliot Davis shares his powerful story of mental health, depression, PTSD, and anxiety—and why it's okay not to be okay. In this conversation, Eliot talks about struggling in silence, finding peace through pain, and using your resources to begin healing and helping others do the same. There are some conversations we avoid because they're uncomfortable. Eliot Davis believes those are often the conversations we need the most. After experiencing his own struggles with mental health and seeing the impact those struggles can have on the people around him, Eliot turned his pain into purpose. His message is simple, powerful, and deeply human:“It's okay to not be okay. Don't suffer in silence.”In this episode of The VIBE with Kelly Cardenas, we talk about depression, PTSD, anxiety, mental health, self-care, asking for help, and what it really means to create an environment where people feel safe enough to tell the truth about what they're going through.Eliot brings a unique combination of passion, vulnerability, peace, and love to his message. His goal isn't to pretend he has all the answers. It's to remind people that they are not alone, that their story matters, and that there are people and resources available when they need help. His message is already reaching students through speaking engagements at high schools throughout California, with more opportunities ahead. This is a conversation for anyone who has ever struggled with their mental health, supported someone who has, or simply needed someone to say:You don't have to go through this alone. If this conversation connects with you, share it with somebody who needs to hear it.And if you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a qualified mental health professional or a trusted resource in your community.Executive producers - Brooklyn Cardenas, Makena Cardenas and Maddox Cardenas#MentalHealth #Depression #PTSD #Anxiety #MentalHealthAwareness #EliotDavis #TheVIBE #KellyCardenas #DontSufferInSilence #ItsOkayToNotBeOkay

Moon is back from California and Mexico, Rizz is out, and naturally the captain's chair immediately becomes a command center for delayed flights, stale cereal, deviled eggs, celebrity nonsense, video games, and a surprisingly passionate takedown of Gladiator 2. Welcome to another funny podcast where we somehow start with Southwest Airlines and end up debating whether a Steve Perry look-alike can spiritually become Steve Perry if the crowd believes hard enough.Moon kicks things off with the glamorous realities of modern air travel after seemingly every flight on his trip decided that “on time” was more of a suggestion. A canceled connection, rerouting through Dallas, delays into Los Angeles and another delay getting back to St. Louis gave him plenty of time to catch up on movies. Unfortunately, that included The Mandalorian and Grogu, which gets a very enthusiastic C-minus review. Somewhere, a Star Wars fan just felt a disturbance in the Force. Then we discover that Americans apparently hit an energy wall around 2:48 in the afternoon, which explains basically every email you've ever received after lunch. Rafe's sleep schedule is wrecked, Lern is fighting afternoon cravings with hard-boiled eggs, and that leads to perhaps the most important culinary advice ever delivered on a funny podcast: if you've already hard-boiled the egg, you're halfway to a deviled egg.“Scoop and gloop,” America. That discussion somehow turns into stale cereal confessions. Lern admits to eating old strawberry vanilla Chex after band practice while Rafe reveals that he knowingly ate stale Pops AND stale Golden Grahams. This is less a morning show and more four adults slowly admitting things that should probably stay between themselves and their pantries. Then it's time for Crap on Celebrities, where things get appropriately ridiculous. A woman is accused of stealing and crashing an ambulance outside an Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte concert. Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose gets some love. Gibson is releasing an extremely limited Billy Gibbons “Pearly Gates” Les Paul. Sean Ono Lennon welcomes his first child, making John Lennon and Yoko Ono grandparents for the first time. There's also a Matthew Perry documentary on the way, more Tulsa King, and the crew tries to understand the enormous world of people watching other people play video games.Speaking of gaming, Grand Theft Auto gets everybody talking about Twitch, streaming communities, gameplay fandoms, and the strange realization that watching someone else play a game can become an entire entertainment ecosystem. Scott even admits he made “multiple dollars” streaming, so please respect the media mogul.Hollywood keeps the nonsense rolling with Emmy gift bags, Marvel's mysterious Secret Wars casting, Hamnet, and Ridley Scott reportedly having some thoughts about Paul Mescal and Gladiator 2. That opens the floodgates because Rafe and Moon are more than happy to discuss just how much they hated that movie. Sharks in the Coliseum are put on trial. The verdict is not favorable. There's also a live-action Street Fighter movie coming with a completely unhinged cast, including Jason Momoa, 50 Cent, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Eric André and more. Apparently somebody looked at the casting board and selected “yes.”Finally, Journey brings Steve Perry look-alike Hugo Valenti onstage during shows in Japan, causing some fans to apparently wonder whether the real Steve Perry had returned. The crew listens to the results, and that goes exactly as respectfully as longtime listeners would expect.Throw in birthdays, Terry Bradshaw, Keanu Reeves, Salma Hayek, Rafe's increasingly dangerous wordplay, and all the other nonsense that somehow qualifies as broadcasting, and you've got another funny podcast from The Rizzuto Show.Delayed flights. Deviled eggs. Stale Pops. Celebrity fails. Video games. Gladiator sharks. October 27, 2006. Sacramento County, California. While performing his overnight patrol duty for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, 38-year old Deputy Sheriff Jeffrey Mitchell sends a message to dispatch that he has pulled over a white Chevrolet van with no plates in a rural area. Minutes later, a clicking noise is heard on the radio and Jeffrey is soon found dead on the ground behind his patrol car, as it turns out he had gotten into a violent struggle before he was shot in the head with his own service revolver. Twelve hours later, a white Chevrolet van containing the bodies of 43-year old Allan Shubert and 28-year old Nicole Welch is found in the Cosumnes River over 20 miles away and it is determined that they succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. Over the years, law enforcement explores the possibility that Allan and Nicole's deaths are connected to Jeffrey's murder, but no conclusive answers can be found. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore the bizarre murder of a police officer and the deaths of two other potential victims which have gone unsolved for two decades. So you have any information about this case, please contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Cold Case Homicide Unit at 916-874-5057 or their tip line at 916-874-TIPS (8477). Legal team, we are continuing on in our Ultimate Girls Trip Roaring 20th series where we cover the various legal issues that each of the housewives involved in this show have been tied to. On the docket this week, we are moving from Teresa to Kyle…but really, Mauricio. Are they getting divorced or not? We give you guys an update on the case regarding the Sweetwater property, which then turned into this other case where there was a qui tam action that was filed (we'll explain what that is). For our fans of The Valley, we get into the loan Michelle accussed Jesse of taking out and spending fraudulently. We break down what small business loans are used for, and speculate about what could happen to Jesse if the government found out he used his Economic Injury Disaster Loan to pay for personal, luxury expenses. We also touch on the Kim and Kyle eviction, and why we hate that photo being circulated right now. Is America actually in decline, or are we just watching the same cycle that has destroyed civilizations before?Michael Malice (“YOUR WELCOME”) welcomes author and political blogger, Curtis Yarvin, onto the show for a provocative look at the fate of America, and whether the country is approaching the end of an era. They dig into Rome, California, and whether the West is genuinely in trouble, or if comparing America to collapsing civilizations is just “astrology for men.”Curtis challenges Michael's optimism about the state of the world and lays out his darker predictions for what could happen if Republicans lose in 2028. They also revisit 9/11, the Cold War, the decline of high-trust society, the exponential growth of parasocial relationships, and the increasingly tribal nature of American politics. Somehow, even Danny Bonaduce becomes part of the historical analogy. And beneath it all is one uncomfortable question: have Americans lost the ability to change their political reality, or is something much bigger about to break? And, if the current system really is heading toward a reckoning, will 2028 finally produce the candidate willing to look the entire political establishment in the face and simply say: “F you.”https://x.com/curtis_yarvinhttps://graymirror.substack.com/https://passage.press/collections/curtis-yarvinPre-Order UNWANTED – A TALE OF THE OLD WEST AND THE NEW WAVE: https://UnwantedBook.comOrder THE WHITE PILL: http://whitepillbook.com/Order THE ANARCHIST HANDBOOK: https://www.amzn.com/B095DVF8FJOrder THE NEW RIGHT: https://amzn.to/2IFFCCuOrder DEAR READER: https://t.co/vZfTVkK6qf?amp=1https://twitter.com/michaelmalicehttps://instagram.com/michaelmalicehttps://malice.locals.comhttps://youtube.com/michaelmaliceofficialIntro song: "Out of Reach" by Legendary House Cats https://thelegendaryhousecats.bandcamp.com/The newest episode of "YOUR WELCOME" releases on iTunes and YouTube every Wednesday! Sonny Mayo has spent decades living the life most musicians only dream about. A veteran guitarist and longtime fixture in the heavy music world, Sonny has performed and recorded with bands including Snot, Sevendust, Hed PE, Amen, and the Exies, building a career around loud music, relentless touring, and life on the road. But these days, Sonny's life looks very different. After recently suffering a massive heart attack and undergoing bypass surgery, Sonny found himself facing something no tour, album, or guitar could prepare him for: his own mortality. And as he fought his way through surgery and recovery, something strange started happening. His caregivers had names like Enoch, Michael, Angel and Gabriel, and his head surgeon was wearing a shirt featuring a burning heart. Coincidence? Or was something bigger happening? In this wide-ranging conversation, Sonny and Shane go far beyond the heart attack. They talk about God, Jesus, spirituality vs. organized religion, sobriety, mortality, and what happens when life forces you to reevaluate everything you thought mattered. They also go down some very different roads: COVID, the Palisades fires, leaving California, the changing culture of America, retiring from music, and Sonny's new life in Arizona building a real estate business with his wife. After decades in music, Sonny has officially stepped away from the stage, but not from the conversation. This is a story about surviving, starting over, questioning everything, and realizing that maybe the greatest performance of your life begins after the applause stops. We know that kids spending time on social media are more likely to experience depression and anxiety. Less clear, and far more contentious, is the role we expect of schools, governments, and tech companies, and some parents are organizing. We Meet: Mothers Against Media Addiction (MAMA) Founder Julie ScelfoThis episode of our oral history project originally aired in March 2025. Since then, MAMA has grown to nearly 50 chapters nationwide, and a California court found Meta and YouTube liable for designing addictive products that harm kids - a case Scelfo has called a major win for the movement.Credits:This episode of SHIFT was produced by Jennifer Strong with help from Emma Cillekens. Originalists venerate the Founders, who were by most reckonings a group of remarkable statesmen. Today, many Americans look seemingly in vain for a statesman worthy of the moment and its challenges. But what is a statesman? Does the U.S. Constitution assume a statesman will be at the helm? Does it enable such a leader, or is it designed to thwart the designs of what Lincoln called the “towering genius?” Acclaimed author and scholar Steven B. Smith joins us from Yale on the occasion of publication of his new book, On Statesmanship, in the first of two fascinating segments on many aspects of this many-faceted concept. And, Andy and Akhil take a look at an important law emerging from the California legislature and awaiting the governor's signature. We're bringing in the professionals. Nancy Moscatiello and Scott Eldridge, veteran true crime television producers and hosts of The Slippery and Scamanda, join Live, Laugh, Larceny for a deep dive into the wild world of '90s crime television, scams, investigations, and the stories that happened behind the scenes. We skip the Dreadful Dilemmas and get straight into their careers working on iconic crime and reality television shows including Crime Watch Daily, Hard Copy, Real TV, and America's Most Wanted. First, Trevin puts their investigative memories to the test with Crime Academy Flashcards, an original game inspired by preschool flashcards. Each object or location sends Nancy and Scott into their archives, recalling bizarre investigations and revealing how crime television actually got made. A flashcard about a restaurant brings up the infamous Sunset Boulevard Denny's brawl and the hunt for restaurant surveillance footage. A question about disguises leads to stories about the techniques early news investigators used to get access and information. A Chicago diner sparks memories of Mari Yang during the investigation into the murder of Chicago Bears safety Shaun Gale. Then the conversation gets stranger. A Patreon suggestion involving Ouija boards leads to the psychic scam known as the “Immaculate Deception,” while a flashcard about phones opens the door to wiretapping, the Andonian Brothers, and a California cartel known as The Mine. We also explore the history of Hard Copy and the evolution of “caught on tape” television, including how early reality news programs helped create the found-footage and true-crime television formats that dominated the '90s. Even Entertainment Tonight gets pulled into the story of how the genre evolved. Other cases include Jose Lantigua, a Florida furniture store owner who faked his own death and claimed to have Mad Cow Disease, and the infamous Wendy's finger-in-the-chili scandal involving Anna Ayala of San Jose. Nancy and Scott share behind-the-scenes knowledge about the case—including the strange petty crime committed after the original scandal. And because no episode featuring The Slippery would be complete without talking about scams, Amanda goes one-on-one with Nancy and Scott for her burning questions about Scamanda. We dig into Amanda Riley, the California blogger who falsely claimed to have Stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma and collected more than $100,000 in fraudulent donations, as Nancy and Scott offer their perspective on the case, the deception, and the hit true-crime series Scamanda. It's '90s crime TV, investigative journalism, scams, fraud, famous cases, behind-the-scenes television stories, and one very strange deck of flashcards. Take a break from the heavy and get petty! Rosie previews the offseasons ahead for the exiting quarterfinal teams, taking a look at the top free agents for California and Maryland while giving Rob Pannell his flowers after an emotional final game of the season (and possibly career). From the natural narratives of Brennan O'Neill playing against the Utah defense to the built-up animosity of past matchups between Boston and Philly, the final four aren't just peaking at the right time, but also have the most intrigue. Whether it's the boos raining down from the Salt Lake City crowd for every O'Neill touch or the beef between the Cannons and Waterdogs, the intensity will be incredible. Come for the analysis on what Denver and Boston need to do better in the semis, stay for the ref decision Rosie brings up that makes Kevin break. The two end with a big-picture look at what a title would mean for the remaining semifinalists in the grand scheme of things when it comes to legacies, re-establishing a dynasty or building one.

It's Wednesday, September 2nd, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Another state in India passed anti-conversion law India's state of Maharashtra became the 13th in the country to enact an “anti-conversion” law last week. It's the country's second-most populous state. This has prompted thousands of churches in the area to have worshippers sign a form. The form simply says the person is attending freely and not under coercion. India's “anti-conversion” laws are often used to target Christians. Hindu nationalists have attacked churches in Maharashtra 11 times in the last six months. India is ranked 12th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of the most dangerous places to be a Christian. In John 15:18-19, Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet, because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Send a polite, 4-sentence note to Vinay Kwatra, the Indian Ambassador to America, asking that he urge his government not to pass these anti-conversion laws which target Christians. Address it to the Embassy of India, 2107 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20008. You'll find the correct spelling of the ambassador's name and the address in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Australia's new assisted suicide law ABC News Australia reports Australia's Northern Territory passed a bill legalizing assisted suicide last week. The territory was the first in the world to legalize voluntary euthanasia in the 1990s. Australia's federal government overturned the law within a couple years. But in 2022, the government reversed its decision, allowing the territory to legalize assisted suicide once again. Now, all states and territories in Australia allow for this form of killing. Over 7,200 people have died this way in the country since 2019. Trump's Venezuelan oil deal gives access to 65 billion barrels The Trump administration announced a major oil deal with Venezuela on Friday. The deal would give the United States access to 17 oil fields in Venezuela with proven reserves of 65 billion barrels of oil. That's about 20 percent of the country's reserves. By comparison, the U.S. has 46 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. President Donald Trump hopes the deal will lower gas prices for Americans. However, analysts suggest that the deal will not relieve prices in the short-term. Homeland Security investigates voter fraud in 9 states CNN reports that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating voter fraud in nine states ahead of the midterm elections in November. These states include California, Connecticut, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin. The Trump administration is pushing for states to phase out certain electronic voting systems and move to paper ballots. The administration has threatened to withhold significant homeland security funds from states that do not adopt such election changes. ICE arrested 51,000 immigration arrests in July U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement made 51,000 immigration arrests in July. That's up from 43,000 arrests in June. Both months set records for the agency. Nearly 20,000 of July's arrests were in Texas and Florida. Both states have been very cooperative with the Trump administration's mass deportation efforts. Gallup poll: Americans supportive of marriage if couple has kids A new Gallup poll found that more Americans are supportive of marriage when children are involved. Thirty-nine percent of U.S. adults say it is very important for a couple to be legally married if they have a child together. That's up from 29 percent in 2020. However, it's down from 49 percent in 2006. Gallup noted, “Weekly church attendees show one of the largest increases since 2020 in the belief that couples, who have a child together, should be married, up 24 points, from 41% to 65%.” Bible societies distributed 148 million Scriptures in 2025 And finally, the United Bible Societies distributed over 148 million printed Scriptures in 2025. The top countries for Bible distribution last year were Brazil, China, India, Nigeria, and the Philippines. Rev. Dirk Gevers, Secretary General of the United Bibles Societies, said, “While printed Scriptures continue to reach hundreds of millions of people each year, digital engagement is growing, opening new opportunities to connect with the Bible through mobile devices and online platforms.” This year is the organization's 80th anniversary. Since 1946, the Bible society has distributed 25 billion Scriptures, including 1.1 billion complete Bibles. Malachi 1:11 says, “From the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering; for My name shall be great among the nations.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, September 2nd, in the year of our Lord 2026.
