Im UNESCO Weltkulturerbe »Oberes Mittelrheintal« sind in den letzten Jahren zahlreiche zertifizierte Premiumwanderwege entstanden. Bekannt sind vor allem der Rheinsteig und der Rhein-Burgen-Weg, die Wanderer durch das gesamte Welterbetal führen. Ein echter Geheimtipp für alle Wanderbegeisterten sind die im Herbst 2019 eröffneten Wisper Trails, ein mittlerweile 216 Kilometer umfassendes Wegenetz aus (Rund-) Wanderwegen in der waldreichen, unberührten Natur der Region. Die 15 Rundtouren sind zwischen 5 und 19 km lang, der Streckenweg Wispertaunussteig ist 44 km lang. Alle Wisper Trails wurden vom Deutschen Wanderinstitut als Premiumwege zertifiziert und weisen dementsprechend eine hohe Qualität auf, die sich in der durchgängigen Beschilderung, einem besonders hohen Erlebniswert und schönsten Naturerlebnissen widerspiegelt. Ihr Name stammt vom knapp 30 Kilometer langen Flüsschen Wisper, das sich durch ein wildromantisches Tal schlängelt. Gisteren verscheen de nieuwe roman 'Mordechai' van schrijver Marcel Möring. Het is het verhaal over Mordechai Gompertz, de grootste schrijver die Nederland ooit heeft voortgebracht. Möring debuteerde in 1991 met 'Mendel', dat met de Lubberhuizenprijs werd bekroond. Voor 'Het grote verlangen' ontving hij de AKO Literatuurprijs en het daaropvolgende 'In Babylon' werd bekroond met twee Gouden Uilen. Voor 'Dis' ontving hij de F. Bordewijk-prijs. Wenn aus dem oft ernsten Thema Wein Genussfreude entsteht, sprich diese Kultur richtig mit Spaß gelebt wird, dann ist nicht selten eine Frohnatur wie Niklas Ertl daran schuld. Das klingt so einfach, aber es gibt unglaublich wenige, die Weinspaß nicht mit Saufen, Nerdtum oder niveauloser Alberei verbinden, sondern mit Humor und richtig viel purer Lebensfreude. Und das in Verbindung mit einem unbeschreiblichen Pflichtbewusstsein, einem devoten, aber nicht unterwürfigen Gastgebertum und enorm viel Weinkompetenz. Wenn man Niklas zuhört, wie er bewandert sein Weinwissen zum Besten gibt, fragt man sich automatisch: Wie alt ist Niklas eigentlich und wann hat er angefangen Wein zu trinken? Wie kann er das alles nur schon wissen, erfahren oder schlichtweg probiert haben? Die Antwort ist einfach, denn es war auch nicht früher als jeder von uns; aber – und das erklärt vieles – umso intensiver. Von Niklas kann man schon jetzt so viel lernen. Und nicht zuletzt das: wie man es schafft, sich binnen weniger Jahre an die Spitze der Branche zu arbeiten. Denn manchmal ist es nicht die Länge der Berufserfahrung, auf die man verweisen kann, sondern die Intensität und Ernsthaftigkeit, die einen dahin bringt, wo Niklas jetzt ist. Doch das erzählt er uns selbst. Das Schönste jedoch ist, dass es Niklas' Grundziel nicht war, einer der Top 50 Sommeliers in Deutschland zu werden, also seinen Weg nicht zielorientiert gegangen ist; es somit nicht für sich 'gemacht' hat sondern für seine Gäste. Warum? Er ist einfach abstrus gerne Mundschenk und das fast bedingungslos selbstlos und vor allem uneigennützig zum Wohl seiner Gäste, die ihn dafür schlichtweg lieben. This week we are joined by Hannah Aoki, who announced in May that she had accepted a full athlete scholarship to the University of North Carolina. Hannah was a little bit of a late bloomer to college recruiting as she didn't become a level 10 until her sophomore year of high school but she was determined and willing to do whatever it took to achieve her goal of becoming a college gymnast. After winning the all-around title in the All-Star East division at nationals this year, Hannah received the phone call she had been waiting and hoping for from UNC. Today Hannah joins us to talk about her recruiting journey and share some advice about trusting the process and not comparing your journey to others. We are so excited to bring you our conversation with the one and only Kathy Johnson Clarke! She's a world bronze medalist, an Olympic silver and bronze medalist, an American Cup Champion, a national champion with Centenary College, where she competed in 1978 and 1979 — long before it was cool to do elite and college gymnastics at the same time — and of course she's a beloved commentator who has graced television screens in our sport for 41 years. This week we are looking back on the historic season that Cal Gymnastics had and we are honored to be joined by the incredible eMjae Frazier. eMjae just finished her sophomore season with the Bears but she's already primed for the history books. As a freshman she scored the program's first and only perfect 10 on floor and broke the all-around program record. She decided to one up herself for her sophomore season, adding two more 10s to her collection (one on beam and another on floor), as well as breaking the all-around program record that she set the previous year, twice! eMjae has been an instrumental piece to the success of the Cal team. Aside from the very first week of the season, the bears were ranked in the top three nationally, seven of those weeks they were ranked No. 2. The Bears finished with their highest NQS in program history with a 198.180, won the regular season Pac-12 championship title outright with a perfect 7-0 record for the first time in history, and of course, capped off the season finishing second at the NCAA Championships; allowing them to bring a trophy back to the Bay Area for the first time ever. Today's guest is Abby Brenner who is a former gymnast at the University of Michigan and the University of Utah. During her athletic career Abby truly did it all from helping Michigan win its first ever national title in 2021 and winning two Big Ten Championships as a team. She then transferred to Utah for her 5th year where she helped Utah win the Pac-12 Championship as a team and took home the individual Pac-12 vault title. She closed out her career by earning NCAA All-American honors on bars and helping Utah to a 3rd place finish at the NCAA Championships. In this episode Abby will talk about the misconceptions that sometimes surround transfer athletes, how the transfer process works, the challenges that come with being a D1 gymnast, areas she struggled with post-gymnastics, NIL, and so much more! This week we are super excited to sit down with Kentucky's superstar freshman Creslyn Brose who is absolutely killing it in her first season of college gymnastics. She currently ranks 6th in the nation on floor with an NQS of 9.95 and has career highs of 9.85 on beam and 9.975 on floor — which she has already done twice this season! She is also one of the most entertaining athletes to watch on floor across the whole country because she can dance and perform so well – truly very few people are doing it like Creslyn Brose! In this episode of the Epigenetics Podcast, we caught up with Geneviève Almouzni, Ph.D., Research Director at the CNRS at Institut Curie in Paris, to talk about her work on the regulation of chromatin organization by histone chaperones. Geneviève Almouzni got her Ph.D. from Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie in 1988 under the supervision of Marcel Méchali. She then moved to the United States to work as a postdoc in the National Institutes of Health in the laboratory of Professor Alan Wolffe. In 1994, she returned to Paris and became a Junior Group Leader at Institut Curie and became a Group Leader there in 2000. In 2013, she took over the direction of research at the Institut Curie and became the third woman to hold this position, after Marie Curie and Irène Joliot-Curie. Geneviève Almouzni’s research focuses on the assembly of chromatin and the identification of histone chaperones. Histone chaperones are necessary for the establishment and maintenance of chromatin, as they help to assemble the nucleosomes out of the core histones and DNA. This occurs both when the polymerase transcribes through a nucleosome and after DNA replication and repair. The Almouzni group has identified and characterized multiple histone chaperones, including CAF-1, HirA, and HJURP. Furthermore, they investigated how post-translational modifications on soluble histones influence the final epigenetic state of the nucleosome and the reassembly of chromatin after DNA replication. In the last couple of years, the group has focused on the unraveling the link between the structure of chromatin at centromeres and cancer. Gut, dass Alex und Stefan sich nun zur Länderspielpause wieder getroffen haben und die Neuigkeiten aus der DEL und aus dem DEB zusammenfassen. Das erste Saisonviertel wird vor allem in Köln noch länger in Erinnerung bleiben. Nach Hans Zach und Lance Nethery ist nun auch Marcel Müller freigestellt worden. Ob dies das richtige Signal für den Tabellenvorletzten ist? Beim Deutschen Eishockey-Bund wird derweil Tacheles geredet. Das neue Präsidium lud zur außerordentlichen Mitgliederversammlung ein und versucht den Verband auf den richtigen Weg zu setzen. Das ist mit der Perspektive, 2015 die DEL(-Klubs) unter das DEB-Dach zu ziehen, in unseren Augen, gelungen. Große rote Zahlen stehen beim DEB im Raum. Von einem Minus von 233.000 Euro ist die Rede. Allein für 2014.
