The CPAC Australia conference featured some based speeches including comedian Rodney Marks paying respect to the traditional owners ‘violent black men', Gary Johns stating Aboriginals need to learn English and just being an Aboriginal means you will die younger, the Christian founders of GiveSendGo stating they will only cancel those on terrorist lists, who support murder (abortion) and child abuse (gender transitions for minors), and the new Australia Christian Lobby Director Michelle Pearse opposing a proposed NSW ban on gay conversion therapy. But what most outraged the usual suspects was CPAC refusing to cancel former Blaze TV host Elijah Schaffer because he interviewed Joel Davis. Dan Andrews has paid the Commonwealth Games Federation $380 million of Victorian taxpayers' money in compensation to not put on the games in 2026. He is cutting money in other areas such as helicopter water bombers just in time for bushfire season. Poor urban planning has resulted in an estate in the Melbourne suburb of Kalkallo only having one entry and exit (but maybe that's by design?). A new Omicron subvariant BA2.86 with 30 mutations has been discovered which Alex Jones reported will be used as a justification for new mask mandates and lockdowns according to a US TSA source. Donald Trump's fourth indictment is under Georgia's RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act accusing him of leading a criminal organization to overturn the state's 2020 Presidential election result. Trump posted on his Truth Social accusing Fulton County DA Fani Willis of only going after those that fought to find the Riggers. Al Sharpton claimed Trump made up the word Riggers because it rhymes with the N-word because Fani Willis is black. Trump will not be attending any of the Republican Presidential primary debates. Another Killer nurse has been uncovered in the UK. Lucy Letby was found guilty of murdering 7 babies and attempted murder of 6 in an NHS neo-natal ward. "When concerts and other special events are held in large auditoriums or arenas, “riggers” must work hundreds of feet above the floor hanging speakers and lights. Riggers will tell you they do not mind looking down a hundred feet to the floor. What they don't like is working in buildings that have false ceilings made of acoustical tile hung just a few feet below the ceiling on rafters and beams. It gives them a false sense of security. They feel as though they are working just a few feet above a floor; but if they stepped onto the tile, they would crash through and fall to their death many feet below. They don't like the deceptive look. It makes it easier to make a mistake. "Satan works like that. He makes dangerous things look safe. He gives us a false sense of security. He makes it easier for us to make a mistake. Satan tries not to scare us to death, but rather to make us think we face little danger of a spiritual fall. "The Epistle of Jude warns of the dangers of false teachers, whose end is destruction. We are to be alert for them, to strengthen ourselves against spiritual deception, and to be ready to help vulnerable believers. Christian friends must not be lulled into a false sense of security and take a disastrous spiritual fall" (Walls and Anders, I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude, vol. 11, HNTC (Nashville, TN: B&H, 1999), 260). To help us better understand this often-overlooked epistle, we welcome Dr. Herb Bateman. Dr. Bateman has taught at Grace Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently the founder of the Cyber Center for Biblical Studies and has published a number of articles and books including one called “Interpreting the General Letters” which includes a study of our topic of conversation today.

In Cardington where it was constructed it was a very local and very human story. 'Dream of Glory' is a two-act musical covering the days before the disaster and its aftermath. The story unfolds not only from the perspective of imperialist politicians, but also through the eyes of local factory workers who built the mighty vessel. They too had bought into the dream of glory. The production by Sharnbrook Mill Theatre was originally broadcast on 3 Counties Radio in 1994. The recording was digitised and restored by Invisible Folk Club Producer Steve Yarwood from recently discovered cassettes. Today - The stories of two of the 14 vendors who braved the 20-degree temperatures to sell at the local artisan market on Saturday. Today's episode is brought to you by Equilus Group Incorporated. Member SIPC and FINRA. Now our feature story… When Dan Riggers first learned to craft ceramics, it wasn't entirely out of unbridled interest. He formerly lived in a town in Idaho that was so small they didn't even have a tavern. All they had was a ceramic shop. That was Peck in Nez Perce County, a panhandle town that hasn't crested the 240-person mark in more than 100 years. Riggers moved there after college. He's picked up a few tricks here and there over the decades and now sells houseware and holiday items at events like the outdoor artisan market at Pybus Public Market. But on Saturday, with light flurries adding to the few inches of snow that fell overnight, Riggers and 13 other vendors braved the 20-degree temperatures to sell to a trickling clientele. He has been selling at the market for about four years now. His goal? To make good, quality products at a fair price. Katie Atkinson, the Pybus marketing and events manager. She said that the market has been a lot of fun, even with the snow. They have heaters and even a fire pit. Typical during the winters vendors set up inside, but -- Covid.... Instead, this year the market has experimented with a few Saturdays of outdoor markets. In March of 2020 Lesley Freitag, the executive director of pybus public market announced that things would be different. And now almost a year later much of the activity remains outdoors. We spoke to Rebecca Weythman of Recycled Designs as well. She uses metals picked up at yard sales, second-hand stores, metal scrap yard — wherever she can get it — to create sculptures. She likes creating one-of-a-kind items. Weythman developed a love for welding in a course at Wenatchee Valley College. The single mom of three had returned to college to learn the business side of interior decorating and landscape design. But part of her curriculum was a 3-D sculpting class where she tried sculpting with metal for the first time. She was hooked. Now an 8 and a half -foot by 8 and a half -foot sculpture of hers sits outside Pybus after a buyer donated it to the market. Next --- When we are talking about gardening, a pest is usually something you want to take care of right away. But right away may not actually be the best time. It's often too late by the time you've discovered the pest. Most often, it takes awhile for the pest to reach a population level that causes noticeable damage; and by then, it may not be controllable. The best time to target pests is either when either they are more vulnerable, or when the population is small. The big question: when is that? That's where Growth Degree-Day or GDD models come into play. Knowing the accumulation of thermal heat units during the season can help you determine a pest's life or a plant's current growth stage. With that, you can track the accumulation of GDD to predict when to plant seeds, apply fertilizer or pesticides, and even estimate when to harvest crops. GDD data and models can even be useful for determining which plants are suitable for a given climate. What exactly is GDD or Growth Degree-Day? It's a calculation of the amount of heat accumulation above a set base temperature over time. The GDD model varies by the type of pests or plants. The formula itself is simple: add the high daily temperature to the low daily temperature --- then divided that by 2 -- that gives you the average daily temperature. Next, subtract the base temperature to get the total GDD units for that day. If the number is a negative, you record a zero for that day, and if it's a positive you add it to the total GDD for the year. Using this type of model can help account for the weather variations from year to year. She was an actress and writer, known for “Phantom from Space”, “The Devil on Wheels”, and the western drama “Giant” - which was the last of James Dean's three films. Finally, before we go we'd like to remember the life of Marilyn Compton King. Marilyn was a fourth generation member of pioneer Cooper Burgess family. She passed away earlier this month after a six week battle with Covid-19. When Marilyn was six years old, her family moved to Wenatchee, where she graduated from high school Through jr. high and high school, she worked at “The Porch.” She was a majorette, member of the Pep Club, Debate Team, and the Swimming Team. She also babysat, packed cherries, worked as a nursing home aide, and at Johnson's. She loved ice and roller skating, swimming, boating, slalom water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, dancing, and gardening. Marilyn married William H. King, in 1953, and they made their home in Monitor for 25 years. She was active in the PTA, she was a Blue Bird Leader, and also a 4-H Leader. Marilyn was a member of the Monitor Methodist Church, and was employed by Bardin's, Fruit Growers Service, Monitor Market, Blue Star Growers, and was a company representative for many grocery line products for over 20 years. She was also the area manager and sales representative for four North Central Washington counties for the first official Washington State Travel Directories. Marilyn was also a Real Estate Agent, she worked for Directed Media and Webpco Printing, and was an account representative for TCI Cable. She was devoted to her grandson, John, who dubbed her “Cookie Grandma”, “Good Jam Gram” and “Silly Grammar” They laughed a lot and learned from each other. She loved her daughter, Kathy, and son, Greg, who both excelled at sports. Marilyn was proud of how they met life's challenges and their accomplishments. Finally, she loved flowers, nature, sharing with friends, and laughter. She will be greatly missed. Thank you for taking a moment with us today to remember and celebrate Marilyn's life. Today our guest is sports psychologist Geir Jordet. Jordet is currently a sports psychology professor at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, specialising in psychology applied to football. He is also the Director of Psychology at the Norwegian Centre of Excellence (owned by the Norwegian Premier League), where he advises clubs in the top two professional leagues, as well as Norway’s national teams, on all topics related to psychology. Over the past 15 years, he has consulted professional football teams and players in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, England, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. He is also the co-founder of Be Your Best™ cognitive training and testing tool for football players, which is a virtual reality-based company. Today he'll discuss the psychology behind penalty kicks ahead of the world cup, how sports psychology has evolved in last 20 years, virtual reality and football psychology and how football psychology is approached in different countries around Europe such as Spain, Portugal, Germany, and England. Anatomie Studios are the focus of this week's episode as we talk to Anna Bones, who opened and runs Anatomie, the U.K’s only full time rope studio. Open since June 2015, Anatomie has gone from strength to strength and provides a safe and welcoming environment for people to learn and practice their Shibari skills. We ask Anna how she started her own journey into discovering Shibari, and how that led to the opening of Anatomie. We have spoken about Anatomie before in previous episodes but it was wonderful to hear about it in Anna’s own words, from initial vision to eventual reality. There are a variety of sessions available at Anatomie, some are geared towards learning, some towards practice and some are neither of the two. I will let you listen in to hear Anna discuss the various things you can discover at Anatomie. We discuss the value in joining your local rope community, and what you can gain from learning from both people like Anna and her partner Fred Hatt who offer tuition at Anatomie and also from peers. Sooooo…If you thought you could get away with rigging an auction by holding your nefarious planning meetings in a park or at a bus stop, think again. The FBI just uncovered an auction bid rigging scheme out in California by hiding microphones in trees, plants, light fixtures, and bus stops – and that’s just the beginning. Find out all the details in today’s episode. I’m Carole Ellis. This is Episode 71. So you’ve probably heard about bid rigging before, and it’s actually something that a lot of investors simply accept as part of the process of buying properties at auction because even when other, more experienced investors aren’t necessarily working together to keep other investors out, there are plenty of scenarios in which a more established buyer will actually pay more than they normally would to snag a property and hopefully scare off the competition. Overpaying on a property is perfectly legal, but rigging the auction, as you might imagine, is not, and you won’t believe the lengths that the FBI recently went to in order to try to expose suspected bid rigging in San Mateo and Alameda counties in California. I’ll tell you all about it in just a minute, but first I want to take a second to mention something else that is basically RIGGED in our society today: YOUR CREDIT. That score determines SO MUCH about what you can and cannot do in your entire life, from where you live (even if you don’t buy) to what jobs you can get and what types of businesses you can even afford to start. Now, let’s get back to where all in your local green space you need to be looking for the hidden mics… So, the FBI originally hid the microphones basically all over San Mateo and Alameda because they suspected that some real estate investors in the area were rigging local auctions by agreeing not to bid against each other at the public auctions, then holding private, members-only auctions where the properties were sold again and the investor who made the original purchase pocketed the difference in the public auction price and that of the private auction. This is a tempting set-up because it tends to keep prices down and also enables investors to make some money just by buying low at the public auction. Bear in mind, also, that this is all ALLEGED, the investor who was actually indicted in 2014 as part of the conspiracy has pled not guilty and the other parties are just being investigated, not accused. Anyway, the FBI put mics everywhere: in the courthouse where the auctions were held (those were hidden in light fixtures), in bus stops near the courthouse, in a statue inside the courthouse, in backpacks that they left lying around, and, reportedly (shockingly, the FBI is not confirming this) under rocks and trees throughout the Bay Area. So basically, if you were hanging out around Oakland Courthouse, they probably were listening. Kind of creepy, huh. So anyway, not surprisingly, the defenses for the guys who are now facing investigation for bid rigging are pretty up in arms about all this recording, and I can’t say I blame them. After all, there was no warrant issued for a surveillance operation in the area. Individuals could have discussed the topic without actually being involved. Apparently you have the right to expect a conversation in a public place to remain private (as long as you have it quietly) and the FBI basically ignored this as well. So it’s a great big mess, and it’s unclear other than establishing that they can get away with this for extended periods of time, the FBI really accomplished much or even intended to. I’m going to just let that little conspiracy theory stew around in your brain for a minute. So, the moral of the story, as it were, is simple: don’t participate in rigged auctions. The FBI doesn’t like it, it’s not legal, and your loving government will break its own laws in order to try to make sure you’re not breaking them. So now don’t you feel protected and loved?
