Perry Lunsford is the founder and CEO of Healthy Insurance Dude, one of the nation's fastest-growing independent health insurance brokerages. A U.S. Air Force veteran and lifelong entrepreneur, Perry has built multiple businesses—from irrigation companies and fitness centers to marketing agencies and insurance—while learning firsthand that failure often lays the foundation for extraordinary success. In this episode, Perry shares how years of setbacks, smart marketing, and relentless resilience helped him build a thriving business by simply taking exceptional care of people. On this episode we talk about: How years of entrepreneurial failures prepared Perry for massive success in the insurance industry Why marketing—not sales—became his biggest competitive advantage Building the Healthy Insurance Dude brand through social media before personal branding became mainstream The difference between entrepreneurs and employees, and why entrepreneurship isn't for everyone Lessons learned from rebuilding his business after leaving the traditional MLM insurance model Perry's approach to investing in businesses, classic cars, and assets he understands best Top 3 Takeaways Your biggest failures often become your greatest competitive advantage. Every business Perry struggled through gave him skills that eventually made succeeding in insurance feel almost effortless. Great marketing makes selling easy. By building trust and visibility before speaking with prospects, Perry created a business where customers were already ready to buy before the sales conversation even began. Invest in what you know. Whether it's your own business or a niche market like classic cars, understanding your investments gives you a significant edge over chasing trends you don't fully understand. Notable Quotes “God put me on the planet to fail at a lot of stuff to end up here.” “I'm not a very good salesperson. On July 29th 2026, Mr. F and I stepped off the southmost stop of the Las Vegas Monorail and into the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Maybe it was the heat of Vegas or maybe we were called to this spot, but we ended up smack dab in the middle of a Paparazzi Accessories Convention. I quickly made a TikTok video, and it exploded with questions and stories alike, leading to the inspiration of this episode, loaded with my own personal MLM convention stories as well as looking at an MLM Convention from both perspectives; the eager MLM rep and the AntiMLM Advocate who now knows better.Show NotesSHARE YOUR MLM CONVENTION STORY WITH US!!!Alien CowpokeThe Las Vegas MonorailMy Paparazzi/MGM TikTokPaparazzi 2026 Convention : Break Through Multi-Level Marketing Groups Operate Much Like CultsMLMs : The Ultimate Commercial CultsHow MLMs And Cults Use The Same Mind Control TechniquesThe Influence ContinuumOut of MLMThe BITE ModelLAMLM Book ClubMLM DupesHow can you help?MLM ChangeReport FraudTruth in AdvertisingReport to your state Attorney General's office! Not in the U.S.? The Recruitment Trap

Everybody is searching for ways to increase income. Unfortunately, MLMs often look like an easy way to start a business without taking on the cost of a traditional company. The pitch sounds simple. Buy the product, follow the plan, and put in the work. The numbers behind those promises often tell a different story. Today's guest, Stacie Bosley, has spent years studying what really happens inside MLMs. She is a professor at Hamline University in Minnesota and holds a Ph.D. in applied economics. Her research covers multi-level marketing, consumer protection, income claims, and pyramid scheme fraud. She has also served as an expert witness in cases involving the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. We talk about what separates an MLM from a pyramid scheme or a Ponzi scheme. Stacie explains why these opportunities attract smart and motivated people. We'll learn about the role of recruitment including those hidden expenses and fake or misleading success stories. We also learn questions people should ask before investing their money and time in any business opportunity. Show Notes: [01:03] Stacey explains how her background in applied economics led to research on multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, and income misrepresentation. [03:22] Early experiences in rural Wisconsin and changes in retail and internet commerce sparked an interest in how people pursue business opportunities. [05:07] Pyramid schemes rely on a pay-and-recruit structure that mathematically leaves most participants with losses. [08:57] Adding a legitimate product does not change the underlying structure when profits still depend primarily on recruitment. [10:33] Ponzi schemes generally use investment language, while pyramid schemes tie a participant's compensation directly to recruiting others. [12:38] Products, demographics, religious communities, and other affinity groups can shape how MLM opportunities are marketed. [16:17] Reward-responsive people may be attracted to the recognition, status, and sense of competence these opportunities promise. [19:47] Anyone considering an MLM should define what they hope to gain and examine their realistic chances of reaching that goal. [22:53] The appeal of a turnkey "business in a box" can cause people to skip the research they would normally do before starting a business. [25:32] Earnings often look far worse after product purchases, training costs, conference fees, and other expenses are deducted. [28:13] Companies making income claims have a responsibility to explain what participants typically earn and spend. [31:02] Disclaimers such as "results not typical" do little to correct exaggerated success stories or earnings claims. [34:08] MLM losses can affect finances, relationships, social connections, and a participant's sense of personal worth. [37:12] Limited time, money, and energy can be diverted into opportunities that fail to improve a family's financial situation. [40:03] A company may be operating as an MLM regardless of its chosen label if participants earn from the activity of recruited sellers. [42:22] Important questions include the typical startup cost, ongoing expenses, earnings, profitability, and participant retention. [44:23] Claims that unsuccessful participants simply quit or failed to work hard can be used to dismiss troubling outcome data. [46:12] Encouraging sellers to recruit their own competitors conflicts with basic principles of supply and demand. [48:03] A large number of local sellers may be presented as community support even though it can indicate market saturation. [49:47] Resources such as Stacey's TED Talk, Truth in Advertising, and her published research can help people investigate these opportunities. [50:59] A reminder to look beyond the sales pitch and ask what people actually earn after expenses. Thanks for joining us on Easy Prey. In this episode, I talk with Olesya Lyuzna about the second book in her Ginny Dugan series Liars in Paradise. Listen to hear all about: The roots of modern self-help, manifestation, and MLM-style thinking stretch back to the 1920s. Olesya shares how historical figures like Napoleon Hill and the era's get-rich-quick culture inspired the novel's sinister organization, Echelon.  Sometimes throwing away an entire draft is the best writing decision. Olesya discusses scrapping a nearly finished manuscript, rebuilding the story from the ground up, and how the rewrite created a much stronger mystery centered on Jack being framed. Historical fiction can feel incredibly relevant because human behavior doesn't change. We discuss how periods of uncertainty—after war, during economic booms, or amid social upheaval—create fertile ground for cults, scams, conspiracy thinking, and charismatic leaders. Real places often make the best fictional settings. Olesya shares how a supposedly haunted Long Island mansion, Winfield Hall, became the inspiration for Echelon's headquarters, complete with strange history, ghost stories, and Gilded Age excess. Great mystery series let their characters carry emotional scars. Rather than resetting Ginny after each case, Olesya discusses intentionally letting previous losses and evolving relationships shape every investigation, making the series feel more emotionally authentic. Episode Summary What happens when you achieve everything you thought you wanted, only to discover you've lost yourself along the way? In this episode of the Work at Home Rockstar Podcast, Tim Melanson sits down with Randy Vlasic, Founder and CEO of LIWMI Logistics, to discuss the lessons that came from building, selling, and rebuilding businesses while redefining what success really means. Randy shares his journey from struggling in school to becoming an entrepreneur, selling his first company at 29, and navigating the identity crisis that followed. He explains how faith, mentorship, and personal responsibility helped him rebuild his life around purpose instead of profit. The conversation also explores practical business topics including sales mastery, remote leadership, AI tools, goal setting, work-life balance, and creating a business that supports both your team and your family. Whether you're just starting out or leading a growing company, Randy offers thoughtful insights on building something meaningful that lasts. Who is Randy Vlasic? Randy Vlasic is the Founder and CEO of LIWMI Logistics, a tech-enabled freight brokerage built on disciplined execution, accountability, and people-first leadership. He leads a fully remote team, believing that trust, structure, and responsibility—not proximity—create high-performing organizations. After building and exiting companies early in his career, Randy learned that success without responsibility, faith, and personal growth is unsustainable. Today, Randy speaks openly about leadership, mastery, fear, and the ongoing work of becoming the kind of person capable of carrying success well in business, family, and life. During this conversation, he also shares how the Life Is What We Make It movement grew from his own journey of rebuilding his identity after selling his first business. Recorded live at the Retail Collective Summit, this episode features Ryan Napierski, CEO of Nu Skin, as he outlines his 30-year journey from working in the call center to steering a global corporate empire spanning 50 countries. Ryan delivers an unvarnished masterclass in corporate survival, detailing how a sudden industry-wide ban in China forced the company to completely shift its direct-selling model toward technology investments and integrated brand building. He also shares how a near-fatal backcountry snowboarding accident shattered three vertebrae in his neck and profoundly redefined his leadership lens. The discussion maps out his framework for navigating the rapidly growing $6.8 trillion global wellness economy. Ryan breaks down "Unit Economics 2.0," explaining how AI-driven ad spend is causing a massive inflation in customer acquisition costs (CAC) for direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands. He pulls back the curtain on Nu Skin's strategic $275 million exit of the platform Mavely, proving why nano-influencers with sub-1,000 followers deliver vastly higher conversion rates than expensive macro-influencers. Finally, Ryan addresses the challenge of managing channel conflict as a legacy MLM entity scales into a highly integrated, modern omnichannel strategy.

A wellness MLM does not announce itself as a cult. It arrives as a smoothie recipe, a flyer of smiling mothers, and a promise of working from home while you take your health back. My recent guest on Cults, Culture & Coercion, Brandie Hadfield, lived inside one for a decade. She is a Registered Psychotherapist  and co-founder of the peer support nonprofit Flipping the Pyramid, and she spent roughly ten years selling supplements for a wellness MLM before she understood she had been recruited into a commercial cult. Brandie was a new mother in 2011, isolated and exhausted, when the pitch found her. I invite you to notice how ordinary the entry point was, because the same machinery now drives coaching programs, prosperity preaching, and the speculative frenzy around cryptocurrency, which I consider a form of multi-level marketing. A small group sells the dream, recruits everyone else to buy in, and the people at the top profit while almost everyone below them loses money. Her recruitment began with a parenting book by a famous pediatrician and a home-based coaching certification. She paid for the courses, the workbooks, and the materials. Then a package arrived in the mail from the pediatrician's daughter, inviting her into the MLM the family sat near the top of. Brandie saw it later for what it was. A funnel. She is intelligent, devoted, and the kind of employee who gives more than anyone asks. Recruiters prize those traits. Her ADHD, undiagnosed at the time, sharpened her focus into something the group put to use. “My kind of tunnel vision and focus and tenacity, which can be a beautiful aspect of having ADHD, was really exploited,” she told me. Brandie was a mother with undiagnosed ADHD raising a son later identified as autistic. Isolation, a hunger for belonging, and a tendency to commit fully to a mission left her exposed. Her graduate research examined narcissistic leadership in commercial cults and its impact on neurodivergent people, and it filled a gap she had felt firsthand. She wants to help others now. About Michelle Nedelec: Michelle is an international best selling author and expert in entrepreneurs and she's the founder of Awareness Strategies. She's run her own series of companies for over 22 years and for over 15 years has been helping managers and executives to continually double their profits and revenues. She not only has what it takes to help her clients build million-dollar businesses but she does it time and time again. Michelle particularly loves to talk about marketing automation, systems integration, and support both on and off of the stage. She teaches the key components of the business, strategy, systems, support, and state of mind so that you know how to continually elevate all four components to build a healthy thriving business. For the past 6 years, she's been focusing on helping entrepreneurs bring their businesses online from conceptualization to done for you IT automation. In this episode, Jennie and Michelle discuss: Competence vs. Confidence. You don't need to have the competence you need to have confidence. Focus on your goals, short term goals, long term goals, and ultra long term goals. Business automation systems, how to attract people gain their attention, and hook them in. Money and business, spending vs investing.   Key Takeaways: Fear is part of being human, embrace it instead of feeling scared of it. Build and embrace your confidence. Expand your comfort zone and confidence by setting goals and then proving that you can achieve them. Pitch marketing is over, everyone wants to buy, but no one wants to be sold on something. Work to solve a problem for them. Employee mindset vs entrepreneur mindset, ask yourself what you want to create and then do it, don't wait for people to tell you what to do.   "It's not rocket science it's just common sense in the business world." —  Michelle Nedelec   Michelle's Book Freebie: Business Ownership Mindset Connect with Michelle Nedelec: Facebook: Michelle @ Awareness Strategies Instagram: @michellenedelec Website: Business Ownership Mindset.com Show: The Little Blue Pill for Business Podcast (Coming to You August 11th) LinkedIn: Michelle Nedelec Email:michelle@awarenessstrategies.com   CONNECT WITH JENNIE: Twitter: https://twitter.com/jenniebpl Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/badassdirectsalesmastery/app/307339332686535/ Instagram: Website: https://badassdirectsalesmastery.com/  Show: https://badassdirectsalesmastery.com/blog/     Show notes by Podcastologist: Kristen Braun  Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Is the "purest" water you can buy actually the worst thing for your body? This week I sat down with Martin Riese, the world's water sommelier and water advocate, the man behind the very first water menu and the guy Netflix, National Geographic, and Buzzfeed all call when they want the truth about water.Martin's been studying water since 2005, and he's built his whole career on debunking the myths the rest of us have been sold. He dropped a bomb early on: the viral "water crystal" science everyone loves came from a man with a fake doctorate who refused a million-dollar offer to replicate his findings in a real lab. Here's what blew my mind: last year, AI data centers used more water than every bottled water company in America combined. And he told me exactly why the "pure" water so many of us chase — the zero-TDS, ultra-filtered kind — can actually strip your body of the minerals it needs to hydrate you at all. He even told me why a Diet Coke can technically hydrate you better than nothing, and unpacked the $5,000 MLM water machine he says has zero proof behind its health claims. After this conversation, you'll never look at your glass of water — or your water bill — the same way again. What we talk about:Why "water sommelier" is a real certified job, not a jokeThe fake doctorate behind the viral water crystal trendWhy filtered water isn't actually dehydrating youThe zero-TDS trick that's fooling people into buying the wrong waterWhy he's against the $5,000 machine everyone's selling onlineWhat Flint, Michigan's tap water actually tasted likeWhy AI data centers might be the next water crisisWhy he refuses supplements, creams, and quick fixesEpisode Links:Website: https://www.martin-riese.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/martinriese/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@martinrieseofficialYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/MartinRieseConnect with Tracy:Website: https://tracyduhs.com/Hydration Shop: https://sanctuarysd.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tracyduhs/Flow FAM Community: https://tracyduhs.com/join-flow-fam/

Sarah and Paul analyze Sara's storyline after learning Bruce Bennett was murdered, focusing on her relapse temptation, the specificity of the bar and bathroom scenes, and how performance choices are shaped by coverage, shot order, inner monologue, and avoiding “indicating.” Sara describes not planning emotional beats, sometimes playing against expectation, and how director Michael Switzer supported the work; they note a missed opportunity for Sara and Bellick to connect through recovery. Fan questions prompt Sara to reflect on returning to the show after maternity leave, balancing work with being a new mom, and using real-life strain in performance. They also discuss self-help/MLM parallels (Est, The Forum) and speculate about the show's GATE storyline and T-Bag's “Cole Pfeiffer” persona. In this episode, we expand on ideas presented by Nate Oman during a discussion on Faith Matters and trace the complicated, evolving history of Mormon sealings from Joseph Smith through the 20th century.Today, “eternal families” are often presented as the central purpose of temple sealings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But historically, the story is much messier. In this conversation, we explore how early sealings were not originally centered on the modern concept of nuclear families being together forever. Instead, sealing theology developed gradually during the Nauvoo period and often functioned as a way to create dynastic networks, priesthood connections, and systems of authority –what some critics compare to an MLM-style hierarchy of spiritual relationships. We discuss the evolution of sealing theology from Joseph Smith to Brigham Young, baptisms for the dead and the trauma surrounding Alvin Smith's death, the rise of dynastic sealings and the “Law of Adoption” where men were sealed to other men. We also discuss the relationship between sealings and plural marriage, how the sealing language changed over time, why Joseph Smith never initially sealed himself to Emma, the story of Jane Manning James and how she was “attached” to Joseph Smith instead of sealed. We also discuss the racial restrictions for Black Mormons, questions of informed consent, authority, and prophetic consistency, and whether the modern LDS concept of “forever families” would have been recognizable to Joseph Smith himself. We also examine how doctrines once treated as essential and eternal –including the Law of Adoption –were later abandoned entirely, raising larger questions about revelation, institutional change, and the development of Mormon theology. Whether you're believing, questioning, post-Mormon, or simply interested in religious history, this episode offers a deep dive into one of the most controversial and misunderstood developments in Mormon history.___________________YouTubeAt Mormon Stories we explore, celebrate, and challenge Mormon culture through in-depth stories told by members and former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as scholars, authors, LDS apologists, and other professionals.  Our overall mission is to: 1. The people best trained to recognize what NXIVM was doing were the people Keith Raniere reportedly made sure never got inside the organization. Licensed therapists were kept out. That wasn't an accident.NXIVM's recruitment model was built on a framework Raniere refined after his first MLM, Consumers' Buyline, was shut down as a pyramid scheme by the New York attorney general in 1996. The courses cost thousands and were structured so each one led to the next. The colored-sash hierarchy rewarded recruitment. Doubt about the methods was reframed as a personal failing — a limiting belief to be overcome through more coursework, not a reason to question anything.Raniere deliberately pursued recruits with resources and public visibility. Clare and Sara Bronfman invested over $100 million, bringing both capital and credibility. Actress Allison Mack became a high-profile recruiter. Their participation told every prospective member this was legitimate.India Oxenberg entered at nineteen and spent seven years inside, ultimately marked and unable to recognize the situation she was in. The escalation from introductory course to inner circle was so gradual that each step felt like a free choice. By the time the deepest demands arrived, members' judgment had been reshaped by years of conditioning. The psychological architecture Raniere built continues to function in the minds of a small loyalist network that still advocates for his release — years after his conviction on all seven federal counts.Part two of a four-part Hidden Killers investigation into NXIVM and Keith Raniere.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? What if success was never really about the money, the funnels, or the strategies? In this deeply personal and powerful episode of BizNinja Entrepreneur Radio, Tyler Jorgenson sits down with entrepreneur, speaker, and transformation coach Liz Benny for a conversation that goes far beyond business tactics. Together, they unpack identity, healing, purpose, entrepreneurship, and what it truly means to live a wealthy life on your own terms. Liz shares the unexpected beginnings of her entrepreneurial mindset, from mowing lawns on her family's rose farm in New Zealand to navigating MLMs, learning online marketing, building successful businesses, and eventually creating her “Kapow” philosophy centered around connection, alignment, purpose, ownership, and wealth. But this episode is about more than entrepreneurship. It is about the internal work required to sustain growth. Liz opens up about battling perfectionism, depression, people-pleasing, and the pressure of external validation while learning how to fully embrace who she is without dimming her light for others. Tyler and Liz also explore future self identity, subconscious blocks, emotional healing, leadership, and why so many entrepreneurs feel disconnected even after achieving outward success. This conversation will challenge the way you think about wealth, success, and personal growth while reminding you that the greatest breakthroughs often come from reconnecting with yourself first. What You'll Learn How Liz Benny's entrepreneurial journey began on a rose farm in New Zealand The biggest lessons she learned from MLM and online marketing Why understanding the “rules of the game” matters in business How she built her first successful online business and scaled it The story behind her “Kapow” philosophy and what it really means Why entrepreneurs often struggle with external validation The four core connections every entrepreneur needs to thrive How identity shapes income, leadership, and personal growth Why future self work can accelerate business success The connection between perfectionism, burnout, and healing How subconscious beliefs can quietly limit growth and fulfillment Why authentic self-expression is essential for long-term happiness Chapters 00:00 Welcome to BizNinja Entrepreneur Radio 01:13 The Moment Liz Benny Realized She Was an Entrepreneur 03:10 Lessons Learned From MLM and Early Business Ventures 06:12 Building an Online Business Through Social Media Marketing 08:59 Discovering Russell Brunson and Scaling Online Success 11:30 The Meaning Behind Kapow and Creating True Wealth 14:31 The Struggle With External Validation 15:52 The Four Connections Every Entrepreneur Needs 18:42 Becoming Your Future Self Now 22:11 Mental Health, Perfectionism, and Healing 26:15 Letting Go of Limiting Beliefs 27:53 Building a Life You Actually Love 29:25 Where to Connect With Liz Benny 29:50 Final Thoughts for Entrepreneurs

On this solo episode, Travis shares candid stories from his own entrepreneurial journey, walking through more than a dozen ventures that didn't work out the way he hoped before his podcasting business took off. From childhood side hustles and landscaping to MLMs, door-to-door sales, and water purification, he breaks down how repeated “failures” created the skills, resilience, and opportunities that ultimately built his income today. On this episode we talk about: Why fear of failure and fear of embarrassment keep people from even taking the first swing at their goals How our social wiring, threat detection, and negativity bias make us over-index on what others might think The difference between temporary failure and the only real failure: quitting and pulling yourself out of the game Travis's long list of experiments: landscaping, college side hustles, multiple MLMs, door-to-door solar, alarms, water machines, and more How just 3–4 of roughly 17 different ventures produced about 90% of his income over the last decade The transition from sales and MLM into podcasting, masterminds, courses, and live events Why leveraging other people's time (hiring help) was a key early lesson in building leverage instead of just trading hours What the entrepreneurial path actually looks like emotionally: ups, downs, and the necessity of stepping back up to the plate Top 3 Takeaways The fear of other people's reactions to your failure is often more paralyzing than the failure itself, and it's usually based on imaginary scenarios that have never happened. Entrepreneurship is inherently experimental; most attempts won't be home runs, but a small percentage of ventures can drive the majority of your long-term income. A failure only becomes permanent when it causes you to quit — as long as you keep getting back in the game, each “loss” becomes data, skill-building, and positioning for the next win. Notable Quotes "A failure is not a failure at all unless it causes you to quit. The only version of failure that's permanent is the one that pulls you out of the game." "You're creating a situation in your mind that has never happened and then reacting to the reactions of other people about a situation that has never happened." "Out of those 17 things, probably three or four of them are responsible for 90% of the income that I've made in the last decade." Every “no” from a friend, every awkward pitch, every time someone left you on read — turns out, that was all training. If you came from an MLM background, you already know how to handle rejection, talk to strangers online, pitch a product you believe in, and keep going when it feels embarrassing. You just didn't know those were skills yet. In this video, I'm breaking down why your MLM era might actually be the reason you're going to crush it in UGC and brand deals — and why the girls who've never had to sell anything are actually starting from behind. We're talking warm outreach, content creation, showing up consistently even when it feels cringe, and how to take everything you already learned the hard way and turn it into income that actually makes sense for your life. No pyramid. No downline. Just you, a camera, and brands that pay YOU directly. If you've ever felt embarrassed about your MLM chapter — this one's for you. In this Casual Convo we get real about one of the most uncomfortable truths of being a primary parent: the financial precariousness hiding beneath the surface of every “traditional” family life. From the fear of losing your spouse, to the trad wife movement and MLM's, we cover it all while grappling with what we actually can control when solutions feel out of reach. In this interview, real estate expert Jonathan Greene discusses the prevalence of scams and "get-rich-quick" schemes within the investment coaching and syndication industries. He emphasizes that successful real estate investing is inherently "boring" and long-term, contrasting it with the high-priced, flashy programs marketed by modern gurus on social media. Greene warns investors to watch for MLM-style referral structures and hidden fees, advising them to prioritize transparency and "skin in the game" from sponsors. He advocates for a "get-rich-slow" approach, highlighting the historical durability of income properties and the importance of geographic and asset diversification. Ultimately, the conversation underscores the need for personal responsibility and thorough due diligence to navigate a largely unregulated and marketing-driven landscape.
