In this episode, we express our gratitude to Fran Dresser, the president of SAG AFTRA, for her brilliant leadership during this period and rejoice in the fact that the strike is finally over! We also share updates about our weeks, from Cynthia's bustling schedule at the hospital due to an influx of new COVID and flu cases, to Joy's delightful family visit in East Tennessee. Here's a sneak peek: Would you dare to jump out of a plane on your 30th birthday or just for fun? Because two of us did. This episode takes you on a whirlwind of emotions as we dig into some of our most extraordinary personal experiences. We cover Cynthia's heart-loving Swimming with the Dolphins quest, Joy's parasailing escapades, Andrea and Carmen's Sky-Diving adventures... But don't worry, we're not all adrenaline junkies here. Rick's fear of water is both funny and touching... and well, we've got our fair share of laugh-out-loud moments as we poke fun at each other's stories and discuss our potential collaborations. We also take a serious tone, but only for a moment to discuss the differences in how each generation uses the internet. Gen X, Versus Millennials and Gen Z. It's based on a blog post from last week which you can read on my personal website for more information. So, join in for a blend of thoughtful discussions sprinkled with a hearty dose of humor and camaraderie on another fun-filled podcast of sheer joy! As always, thank you for stopping by. A Northland ferry skipper is in a critical condition in Middlemore Hospital after a collision between the Paihia to Russell ferry and a boat yesterday. The incident happened just before midday as the 50-year-old ferry headed out of Russell on its run to Paihia. The collision shattered the ferry's portside and wheelhouse, leaving the skipper, Bill Elliot with suspected head and spinal injuries. Among those who came to his aid was a parasailing boat from Flying Kiwi Parasail. Rich de Rosa is the skipper and owner. He spoke to Corin Dann.

In going through all of my podcast episodes before the New Year, there is one that stands out as a favorite interview I've done and also a favorite by many listeners. I think the story behind Fury Water Adventures is almost as amazing as how Scott Saunders turned his life around with one single moment. In this episode, Mark Baratto sits down with Scott Saunders, the CEO, and creator of Fury Water Adventures Key West. We discuss how Scott almost flunked out of high school, quit college (the first time), and gave up on making anything of himself. To any outsider, Scott would have been considered a "loser," but it was that rock-bottom breaking point that caused him to go from zero to hero in one instant. Have you ever felt unmotivated and didn't really care about much? Scott did too, and his story will get you looking in the mirror and declaring, "enough is enough!" **NOTE** We really get into the complete origin story at around the 13:00 minute mark, so stay with us, it's worth the wait! Dr Travelbest wants to help women travel more and best. In this episode: FAQ is: What should you bring on an airplane? Today's Destination is: Hawaii's Big Island Today's Mistake- Not taking responsibility for my actions Travel Advice: Eating Mana musibi and Spam in Hawaii FAQ: What should you bring on an airplane, asks Carole? Answer: Bring your small luggage and place that overhead if you can. Put your small bag by your feet and in that you will have the things to use on the flight. What should be in your small bag? Your sweater, a small snack, water bottle, phone, earbuds, and phone charger, toothbrush and floss, and something to read. You should have warm socks in case you feel cold feet. Airlines don't always have blankets and pillows anymore. Noise canceling headphones may be the best device you invest in for a long flight. And consider eye covers and a pillow for your neck if you want to sleep. Even If you did check your bag, you still may want to have a change of underwear and t-shirt in case the luggage gets misplaced. Bring your food on the airplane to be sure you get what you want and when you want it. What works well may be fruit and a sandwich. On Southwest Airlines, they no longer give out peanuts. Today, as I am writing this, I was given a choice of Ritz Cheese crackers, Oreos, and corn chips. These are not very healthy options, especially on a five hour cross country flight. Be sure to stay hydrated. You lose water when you fly. It's dry, even if you don't feel it. The longer your flight, the more water intake you need. Today's destination: Hawaii's Big Island https://www.hawaiitours.com/to-do/evening-volcano-explorer/ Island Insiders know the best sunrise views. You can take a helicopter tour, or a zipline experience if you wish. I stayed in Kona, on the west side of the island, and drove my rental car to the southernmost point of the USA and then to the eastern area of Hilo. From there, I drove to the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea Volcano areas, where I saw snow at the peak. I did not hike up there, but had a good view from the Visitor's Center. Driving around the island, you are going to need to rent a car to really see the most of this island. Shave ice is a popular beverage here. Another drink that is unique is Awa. It's also known as kava kava. Relaxing, good for anxiety and depression. Very earthy. Milky, minty. Feel a tingle in your mouth. Tongue gets numb. Check for side effects. https://fruitstand.com/blogs/experiences/how-to-drink-awa Kava Kava Root Supplements: Benefits, Effects, Use, Dosage, & More Marine tourism is very big in Hawaii. 60% of marine animals can't be seen anywhere else in the world. Get up close and personal with snorkeling or scuba diving. You may need to drive a bit to find what you want, including shark swimming. You will often find spinner dolphins, sea turtles, endangered Hawaian monk seals. Be relaxed when swimming with the sharks…hammerheads…and more. They are revered in Hawaiian culture. https://www.realhawaiitours.com/oahu/shark-tours/ Parasailing This brings you about 20 stories up, and it is a thrill to be pulled by a boat and then brought back to the ship. Have someone on the boat take your photo for free, instead of the official photographer. Do it if you can for some outstanding views and memories. Make your reservation upon arrival and then show up for a fun adventure. You will need to sign a health waiver for this activity. https://ufoparasail.net/kona-activities/hawaii-parasailing/ Find a hidden place in Hawaii. You can explore and find many to call your own. Today's Mistake- Not taking responsibility for my actions We all need to be better at taking responsibility for our actions. In my younger years, I often was guilty of wasteful actions and littering from my car window. I regret that now. Kuleana has this meaning: “Responsibility.” Other messages that I learned were: “Take wisdom, make it deep. Be good to nature. Respect the land.” Don't litter in any way and be kind to the land. https://www.ponopledge.com/ Today's Travel Advice-Eating Mana musibi and Spam in Hawaii Looking for some food, try this. Mana musibi is a snack of rice and nori, a seaweed wrap, with Spam inside. Yes, more Spam is in Hawaii than anywhere else. When discussing life's challenges, it's common to hear metaphors about “climbing the mountain”, and reaching the “summit”. We also hear that reaching the peak of the mountain, while incredible, is just a moment and that we should enjoy the accent as much as the descent. We are told to soar toward our dreams and be humble in our approach. Ben White has done all of this literally and metaphorically.Ben has been an adventurer since a young age. Ben hiked and skied all 48 of New Hampshire's 4000-footers at the age of 17 with no backcountry ski knowledge. In 2011 Ben attended the University of Utah and graduated with a geology degree, an atmospheric science minor, and earned undergraduate researcher of the year in the college of mines and earth sciences for his work studying how natural arches vibrate and degrade over time. It was also during that time he also learned to rock climb, ice climb, and fly paragliders. Simply put - Ben LOVES this stuff. But, like most journeys, Ben's path had its fair share of adversity. In our episode today we will navigate through some of the challenges he has had to overcome, both mentally and physically, and learn how he has used his experience to help others, as they quest through the odyssey of life.

Today's Scripture References – Peace with the Lord Philippians 4:4-9 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Parasailing Adventure One week ago, on our lady's beach trip, I was invited by a friend to go parasailing. She had done it before and said it would be fun. Not really realizing what I was getting myself into, I agreed to go. Sitting on the beach watching other people soar above the beach has always looked fun. It just never occurred to me that I could or would do that. So here we go, 2 of us parasailing while the other 4 were observing. Then the anxiety and sheer panic hit to the point I was crying. Tried to get my other friends to take my place. No one else wanted to be “shark bait”. They kept encouraging me to do this thing. Next thing I know, I am being hooked up and whisked away. I screamed the first few seconds of leaving the boat. Next to me is my dear friend coaching me, letting me know everything is going to be okay. Almost immediately, I noticed that the further away we got from the boat, all the noises - my very loud thoughts telling me how awful this experience will be, the boat engine, the waves of the ocean, my beautiful friends cheering me on – just slowly faded away. Peace enveloped me. It was a surreal moment. I finally eased the death grip on the harness and relaxed and enjoyed the view. Enjoyed the peacefulness. Enjoyed the beauty. Realizing that what I was experiencing was exactly what I needed. All the anxiety I had a few moments before was now gone. That peace of God, that surpasses all understanding was guarding my heart and my mind through Christ Jesus. I was not thinking of the million things that could go wrong and how we literally could be “shark bait.” After the captain dipped us in the ocean and we had a soft landing, I literally felt sheer excitement and it was evident. The next morning, I woke up with an epiphany. Since I am a visual learner, sometimes God must physically show me to get His point across. This was one of those moments. My experience parasailing is how I am to approach all issues, problems, situations for the rest of my life – with a bird's eye view and to get above the problem, to rise above my concerns. This is where there is peace, this is where you can hear the voice of the Lord more clearly. This is where you can see the whole picture, not just the problem at hand. I also realized how vitally important to surround yourself with friends that are going to cheer you on, help you move past your fears and anxiety. Regardless of who you are, fear and anxiety can be two powerful emotions that literally paralyzes you. God knows this. He created us and does have patience with us. If we trust Him and allow Him, He will develop in us faith that overcomes all our fears. If we have trustworthy friends and allow them to speak into our life, we move through our anxieties and face our fears head on. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/deanna-fullerton/message

Parasailing, Cages, Heat The pay-per-view also included two other title matches. Mr. Perfect lost his WWF Intercontinental Championship to the Texas Tornado, who was a substitute for Brutus Beefcake, who had been injured in a real-life parasailing accident. The Hart Foundation won the WWF Tag Team Championship from Demolition in a two out of three falls match. Each of the matches was built up through feuds scripted by the WWF's writers, and the matches that took place at the event had pre-determined outcomes that had been decided by the WWF. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Wie lange liegt euer letzter Adrenalinkick zurück? Oder seid ihr eher die Chiller-Fraktion und lehnt euch auf der Couch zurück? So there are podcast guests and then there is Kevin O'Neil with Destiny Water Adventures. We had no idea what we were getting into when we brought Kevin on the podcast. And man did we learn a lot. We were expecting the calm cool and collected businessman crushing the Destin Florida Jet Ski and Boat Rental Market. Instead, we got the story of a guy from Detroit who used to drop bars down on 8th Mile (That might have been from a movie). How a guy with no boat experience became the greatest Parasailing captain in all the land. And how he took this experience and knowledge to create Destiny Watersports. This is an epic tale of accomplishing your dreams and not letting the MAN keep you down. We also totally go off course and talk gurus, and Kevin's man-crush on Tai Lopez. So sit back and take a listen. It will be the greatest thing your ears have ever heard.....well or just another fun podcast. Like many other Crested Buttians, Ben Eaton is an East coast transplant, originally from the small ski town of Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. Ben grew up ski racing before attending St. Lawrence University in upstate New York to study art. After college, he found his way to Vail, both to coach ski racing and to further his knowledge of working with metal, aka blacksmithing. One thing led to another and he found himself in Crested Butte, and working as a full-time Blacksmith making decorative door handles, fireplaces, etc, as well as his own artwork. Later, while spending time in Europe while his wife pursued her degree, he began paragliding. (Paragliding is flying through the air with a parachute-like canopy. Parasailing is what you might see when someone is getting towed behind a boat. Hang gliding uses a larger wing with framework. And finally, speed flying is using a much smaller wing at higher speeds generally at lower flying altitudes). On any given day when the wind is right, you may very well see Ben or one of his flying friends soaring high above the mountain (there is a take-off near the top of the Monument ski run). I hope you enjoy my conversation with Ben about "hand forged custom ironwork" and paragliding as much as I enjoyed the interview! Please subscribe on your favorite podcast player and leave a review! You will love it, and you can find it on Spotify and Apple Music. Now, the Hemingway quote Jake meant to give: “Always stop while you are going good and don’t think about it or worry about it until you start to write the next day. That way your subconscious will work on it all the time. But if you think about it consciously or worry about it you will kill it and your brain will be tired before you start.” ~ Ernest Hemingway The quote that was actually given (which is, admittedly, more beautiful): “I had learned already never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that fed it.” ~ Ernest Hemingway Daniel suggested to Freddy that he read the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. Freddy read it and loved it. “This is the riveting first-person narrative of Kvothe, a young man who grows to be one of the most notorious magicians his world has ever seen. From his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, to years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-riddled city, to his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that transports readers into the body and mind of a wizard.“ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/roadrants/message

Anne Huffington didn't start diving or flying until she was in her forties. When I was 40 I miscarried my third baby and was aware that motherhood would not be in my future. I asked myself what I could do now that I could not have done as a mother, and the answer was “learn to scuba dive”. That set me on a course of diving all over the world. At a Professional Women’s Network event, I found myself in a hot tub with the Jungian Therapist and Author Jean Sinoda Bolin, who asked me what my passion was. I described diving to her – going deep into gathering dark water off the Monterey Coast kelp forests until an underwater world opened up to delight my eyes. She said, “I would guess you are also in deep grief therapy because what is manifesting on the exterior is often what we are pursuing on the interior. As it turned out, I was going through therapy 3x/week – called doing “black hole” work on buried trauma. I thought about those concepts and decided that perhaps we could shape our interiors by what we did in the exterior, and I figured it was time for me to fly! There was a school for budding paraglider pilots down the road from where I lived in Northern CA. I signed up for a class. At first you walk uphill a little ways, then lay out the glider and run down. As the day progressed I got high enough on the hill to find myself in the air while running, and I knew I had found something I loved. It was as if my dreams of flying had turned into reality. I was hooked. I signed up for the package of 10 lessons, and paid about $3,000 for my own paraglider – a yellow and purple Wills Wing I named “Glory”. With my Novice designation I began to fly at the Pacifica coast – a place affectionately named “The Dump” – hang-gliders flew to the north at Fort Funston. I carried my paragliding backpack in the trunk of my car and most days during daylight savings time I could be found flying at The Dump. I would change from pantyhose to a flight suit in my car in the parking lot and walk to the launch areas. I progressed to an Intermediate Level (the designation stickers were worn on the helmet) and after some years because the first female President of the Bay Area Paragliding Association. My longest flight was about 5 hours, and as I launched I would inwardly say “C Ya” as I yelled “Clear”. It was a thrilling time of life!

Travel can be a lot of things and of course, when one of us taking a trip... things can get to How in the Hell did I get here? pretty quick! In today's Episode, Erin learns the importance of thoroughly reading the directions during a this 12-hour endurance test. Next, Kari just wants to get home to join in the graduation celebrations of a niece and nephew... the question is will she even get on the plane after an alarming encounter with the TSA? Lastly, Kim is on her first trip out of the country (yes, the same trip where she was also held hostage by a monkey in Episode 3!) where she tries parasailing. They say what goes up, comes back down... well, eventually yes, but not without a lot of excitement for her in the air! Produced by Kim A. Flodin and featuring Erin Beach, Kari Flodin and Kim Flodin.
