Gratitude isn't a garnish! It's the main dish. In Part 2 of our conversation with “The Gratitude Guy” Kevin Monroe, we roll up our sleeves and get practical. This episode is all about turning appreciation into action — without falling into the traps of toxic positivity or meaningless thanks. You'll learn how to deploy gratitude as a leadership strategy, how to make it part of your workplace rhythms, and why it transforms not just your team culture but your people's *entire lives*. (And honestly, yours too.) If Part 1 was the “why,” this one is the “how.” This isn't about feel-good fluff. It's about building a joy-filled, high-performing workplace on purpose. Here's what we talked about:03:15 Don't Be That Guy: Why bad behavior cancels out even your best thank-yous 06:37 The ripple is real: How gratitude multiplies inside and outside of work. 11:16 Practice, not perfection: How to make gratitude an ongoing practice, part of your leadership and team rhythm. 12:43 Stop sprinkling. Start deploying: Three steps to use gratitude well. 15:46 The 4S Formula: The four parts every "thank you" needs to actually land. 20:04 The Big Bocks: How to deploy gratitude today. One thing you can do to create a and why generative workplace that wins. Here's the real real? Cultures that prioritize joy and gratitude don't just "retain" employees. They freaking energize them. If you're tired of Band-Aid solutions and empty gestures, this episode is your blueprint for doing it differently — and doing it right. Guest: Kevin Monroe Kevin is a workplace gratitude consultant, leadership mentor, and founder of multiple gratitude initiatives that have reached over 70 countries. In this episode, Jamie speaks with long-time senior technology executive David Weiss, Operating Partner at Thoma Bravo and Clearhaven Partners.  Jamie finished the interview, turned to her producer and said, “Now that is what excellence in leadership looks like!” David says that while many leaders have a gift of natural charisma, he relies on a very intentional approach to leadership that has turned out to be a strength.  Drawing upon Eduardo Briceno's work, he advises leaders and teams to know when they are in the “performance zone” and when they are in the “learning zone.”  He describes the stages he sees companies grow through and why assessing complexity is just as important as measuring revenue.  David gives us a short primer on how private equity firms work and discusses 3 of 10 levers of scale he has identified.  One of those levers is culture and he introduces his very interesting “Energy Creator Framework” making the case that it's not enough to make sure you have the right people; your organization needs the right energy from those people.  David is an extraordinary leader; you will find yourself playing and replaying this episode in the weeks to come.   During this episode, David refers to the following work: The Performance Paradox: Turning the Power of Mindset into Action by Eduardo Briceno What Leaders Really Do by John Kotter (especially Chapter 3)   Executive Access is produced by The Ideal Life, a platform that provides coaching, community, and content for people to grow both personally and professionally.

Can something as simple as kindness really change someone's view of God? Simple acts of love and kindness are how Jesus shows up in people's lives. When someone feels seen, heard, and cared for—especially in their mess or suffering—it softens hearts. It opens a door. That's when people start to wonder, “Why are you doing this?” And we get to say, “Because Jesus loves you.” When we meet people in their suffering with compassion—feeding them, clothing them, praying with them—we're not just meeting physical needs, we're revealing the heart of Jesus. And when people experience that kind of love, they start to believe again that God is real, that He sees them, and that He hasn't forgotten them. In today's episode, I sit down with Mandy Busch and Amanda Pfeiffer to share the incredible story of how their parish community responded after an EF4 tornado struck. Instead of just reacting, they mobilized hundreds—each person using their unique spiritual gifts—to serve with compassion, leadership, and faith. We talk about how discovering and using our charisms—the gifts given by the Holy Spirit—can be a game changer for unity and fruitfulness in mission. When we stop comparing and start collaborating, the Church comes alive. Like a puzzle, every piece matters. And when we come together in love, the result is powerful.
