Ever bought a beautiful color-coded planner and abandoned it in 10 days? Jessica and Kelly get real about why aspirational, Instagram-perfect systems fail — and what actually works instead. This episode is about meeting yourself where you're at: building systems that are low-friction, flexible, forgiving, and repeatable, especially on hard days. Because social media isn't perfection, it's performance — and real systems need to expect a human, not a highlight reel. What We Cover Why perfect systems fail — Instagram and Pinterest systems assume consistency, predictable schedules, and stable moods, while real life includes hormones, travel, burnout, grief, and aging parents. If a system collapses under stress, it was never actually supportive. What real systems look like — low friction, flexible, forgiving, sustainable, and repeatable, not aspirational Trading elaborate for repeatable, with real-life examples: A 10-minute anchor habit (coffee, stretching, reviewing the day) instead of a 90-minute morning routine Three default dinners on rotation instead of an elaborate weekly meal plan A 15-minute nightly "closing shift" where everyone tidies a few things instead of a full nightly reset Two inbox folders — Action and Archive — instead of inbox perfection Three priorities a day (sticky note optional) instead of a complicated goal-tracking system The smallest-version question — asking "what's the smallest version of this that would still move things forward?" to get unstuck on things like replying to an email or text Habit stacking — attaching new habits to something you already do daily (like making coffee), rather than building something from scratch Real examples from Jessica and Kelly's own homes, including: A baby-step lunch habit (grabbing simple protein like turkey pepperonis or trail mix) instead of full meal prep Planning just three meals a week and shopping just-in-time instead of stocking up in advance A shoes-at-the-door system and laying out clothes the night before A weekly family scheduling check-in (including grandparents) to coordinate who's taking whom where The energy system check — asking "what kind of energy do I have today?" and adapting instead of punishing yourself for being human Free Resource The Organizational Style Quiz helps you figure out whether you're a visual organizer, a minimalist, a flexible stacker, or someone who needs more structure. A solar-system-level disaster wipes out four planetary systems, humanity clings to life in space colonies, and Zion stands as the last planet that can still sustain people. Then come the “Victims” and the only real answer is a handful of towering mechanized weapons called Ingrids, built with eerie female humanoid forms and powered through nerve-link technology that can wreck the human body.We walk through Candidate for Goddess (also known as Pilot Candidate) with a clear focus on how its world works: the Goddess Operation Academy, the strict pilot requirements (age, health, EL blood type), and EX, the superhuman capability that makes a pilot compatible with an Ingrid's interface. We also dig into the series' most charged dynamic: each young male pilot paired with a female repairer who maintains the machine and manually blocks painful feedback during missions, turning teamwork into something that can feel like dependency and control at the same time. Then we get personal about the rewatch factor. Some of the character design and dialogue screams “product of its time,” and the CGI mechs, especially the doll-like faces, can be a mixed bag in 2026. But there's still a compelling spine here, from Zero's mysterious “call” to the hangar to the moment he links with a goddess during an attack when it should have meant death. Armor of God - Helmet of Salvation (Eph 6:13-17) 1. The purpose of the Helmet 2. Why the Helmet of Salvation 3. Action comes from our thoughts 4. Beliefs determine behavior 5. Protect our mind
In this episode, I talk about why your potential isn't limited by your skills, knowledge, or opportunities; it's limited by the interference created by how you respond to fear. Fear will always be there, but when you stop letting it control your thoughts and behaviors, it becomes one of your greatest teachers. I discuss why building champions starts with building the right daily behaviors, how the AAA Strategy (Alignment, Action, and Adjustment) helps you stay aligned with where you want to be or better, and why purpose makes every obstacle easier to overcome. Most importantly, I share why faith is the antidote to fear. When you stay committed to your non-negotiable behaviors and remain in the consistent, persistent pursuit of your potential, you create more opportunities, more options, and more touches of favor in your life.To join my next free Friday Training sessions, email me at david@dmeltzer.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Be sure to check out the grand finale of our Eco-Justice and Climate Action Mini Series! Throughout the last few months, we've explored everything from outdoor education in Canada, to a global storytelling initiative, to resilience building in coastal island communities, and more. Today, Joe and Blane explore the story behind “Crystallizing Territorial Visions and Claims: Critical Mapping with Amazonian Kichwa Communities in Climate Change. We are joined by authors Anke and Maritza, and co-investigator, Bequer Tuanama, from San Martin, Peru. The interview is bilingual, Spanish and English, with translations. The episode is full of meaningful reflections, candid anecdotes about the process, and a deeper look at their research project. Enjoy! The team begins by tracing how the partnership with Kichwa communities in San Martin, Peru came into being, and was built from existing relationships [3:13]. This leads into a discussion of critical mapping itself, and how a participatory research tool gradually became something more [5:57], providing a space for collective reflection, negotiation, and the reimagining of territorial claims in the face of state-led conservation efforts. The power dynamics involved and their negotiations are very insightful [10:32]. Afterwards, the team walks us through what the mapping process actually looked like, and the connection between mapping territory and climate action, using stories, timelines, and imagery of non-human beings which were included, beyond geographic boundaries [14:00]. The team then shares some of emergent practises from collaborating with a diverse group of collaborators on the project, including different layers of knowledge on map, as well as a vision for the territory in the future, along with practical challenges of the logistics of budgeting, transportation, bringing in elders and women, and providing an intercultural approach to the work [22:56]. The episode closes with learning and outcomes from the project, from the universities changing their approach to action research and impact, how mapping is an important tool of dialogue and collaboration across different sectors, bringing women's voice to the forefront, and engaging different levels, particularly for communicating with the state [35:04].Thank you Anke, Maritza, and Bequer for sharing your work with us in this episode.Thank you to our listeners for tuning in to this episode of the Action Research Podcast, created by Joe Levitan, Adam Stieglitz, Shikha Diwakar, Cory Legassic, and Vanessa Gold.Produced by Shikha Diwakar and Vanja Lugonjic.Subscribe to our podcast on most major podcast distribution platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. How have you found yourself in the world of action research? "That which seems like a false step is just the next step. What if it wasn't the wrong step? What if it was simply necessary? The path is not something you already know. The path is something that starts to appear because you just keep walking." In this special episode of our entrepreneur series, the tables are turned as Andrew interviews his co-host and business partner, Leo Gomez. Leo reflects on his upbringing in Brazil, the psychological impact of moving across cultures, and how an inherent bias toward action shaped his journey as an educator and founder. Leo Gomez is an experienced language educator, teacher trainer, and co-founder of Learn Your English. A passionate advocate for task-based language teaching (TBLT) and experiential learning, he also breaks down how he built and launched TBL4T by validating demand before creating a single lesson, demonstrating how every "false step" is simply part of the path. In this episode, we discuss: How growing up in Brazil's necessity-driven, micro-entrepreneurial ecosystem forged a lifelong bias toward action. The psychological tension between a native, spontaneous Portuguese identity and a structured, academic English persona. Why traditional schooling fails experiential learners by presenting knowledge as a finished product to memorize rather than a tool to use. Sidestepping academic dogma to build a practical TBLT framework for real-world teachers facing rigid constraints. How validating an audience first prevents costly product mistakes. Using student feedback and "loop input" to evolve an 8-week pilot into a high-level, 10-to-14-week transformative program. Reframing client rejections, failed launches, and operational mistakes not as errors, but as mandatory steps on the entrepreneurial path. Why waiting to feel "ready" is an illusion, and why taking scary leaps is the only way to uncover what your market actually wants. *Prefer video? Watch the episode on YouTube. A few months ago, Kelly barely knew what Substack was. Now it's about to cross $100K in added revenue for the business, and she's convinced it can become a multimillion-dollar trust-building funnel. In this episode, she shares where the Substack strategy stands now, why she's genuinely excited about the platform's new updates, and why a platform taking real steps to protect the authenticity of the human voice is something every creator should be celebrating, especially as the other platforms drown in AI slop. Then she gets into the moves she's making next, including betting on her daughter Madison's business by moving it entirely to Substack, and launching two brand-new publications to show the exact same growth model working in completely different niches. The conversation explores permaculture, fruit trees, seed saving, local food economies, and why understanding where food comes from is one of the most important skills of our time.I've spent a lot of time thinking about what I was going to do for my 1000th episode of the Farm podcast. And was recently interviewed by Tayler Wellman of tales with Tayler. After listening to the episode, I thought it would be a great jumping off point for my 1000th narrative episode. This tells some of my story and she did a really great job with the interview so I asked and she said yes, play it on your podcast. This will give you two opportunities, first to experience a new podcast and second to hear some of my backstory leading into the next 1000 episodes. Self-seeding crops like basil, parsley, cilantro, kale, nasturtiums, and sweet potatoes transformed his Phoenix property into an old-growth food forest that largely cared for itself. Why are fruit trees such an important investment?Fruit trees are planted once and can provide fresh food for decades. Greg shares stories of century-old citrus trees and explains why fruit trees offer one of the highest long-term returns for home gardeners. What is permaculture?Permaculture is the art and science of working with nature instead of against it. Greg explains how designing landscapes that mimic natural ecosystems creates resilient, productive gardens with less work over time. Why should every household maintain a seed bank?Seeds are the foundation of food security. Greg explains how storing seeds at home strengthens local resilience and inspired the creation of the Great American Seed Up, helping thousands of people build personal seed reserves.Do seeds really expire? Not necessarily. Most expiration dates reflect packaging regulations rather than biological limits. When stored cool, dark, and dry, many seeds remain viable for years—even decades. How can beginners successfully start growing food?Start small with crops you already enjoy eating. Herbs like basil are inexpensive, productive, and easy to grow—even on a sunny windowsill. What if someone doesn't have a yard?Greg recommends Tower Gardens, container gardening, windowsill herbs, and visiting local farmers markets. Food production is possible even in apartments and condos. Why is understanding our food system so important?Knowing where food comes from reconnects people with healthier eating, stronger local economies, and more resilient communities. Growing even a small amount of food changes the way people think about nutrition and sustainability. How can individuals help address climate change?Focus on regenerative practices that work with nature. Growing food, improving soil, supporting local farmers, and creating resilient food systems are practical actions anyone can take.Which book most influenced Greg's thinking?Ishmael by Daniel Quinn profoundly shaped Greg's worldview by challenging assumptions about humanity's relationship with nature and inspiring his lifelong mission of transforming food systems.Episode HighlightsGreg explains how self-seeding plants transformed his yard into an old-growth food forest that produces food with minimal maintenance.Fruit trees are presented as one of the easiest long-term investments for home food production. The story behind the creation of the Great American Seed Up and its mission to build community seed resilience. Why seeds stored properly can remain viable for decades despite printed expiration dates.Lessons learned growing food in both the Arizona desert and the mountains of North Carolina. How Tower Gardens make food production possible for apartment and condo dwellers. The philosophy that nature is regenerative while most human systems are degenerative—and why that must change.Greg's lifelong mission: helping people understand where their food comes from by inspiring them to grow even a small portion themselves.Calls to Action & ResourcesUrban Farm — https://urbanfarm.orgUrban Farm Podcast — https://urbanfarmpodcast.comGreat American Seed Up — https://greatamericanseedup.orgFruit Trees Program — https://fruittrees.orgFree Desert Planting Calendar — https://plantingcalendar.orgLearn about Permaculture — Explore local Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs) at Permaculture.netVisit Your Local Farmers Market — Meet local growers and buy seasonal food directly.Read: Ishmael by Daniel QuinnTales with Taylor Podcast on podcast platforms and HERE on YouTubeTales with Taylor Website - https://taleswithtaylor.comVisit www.urbanfarm.org/999 for the show notes on this episode, and access to our full podcast library! Global supply chains are facing no shortage of complexity from shifting tariffs and changing consumer behavior to rapid advances in artificial intelligence. But having more technology and data does not automatically create a more resilient operation. What matters is how leaders interpret that information and turn it into action. In this episode of The Buzz, powered by Zebra Technologies, host Scott Luton is joined by guest co-host David Shillingford and Shannon Vaillancourt, founder and president of RateLinx. Together, they explore the latest developments affecting global trade, grocery spending, freight operations, supply chain resilience, and AI adoption. The conversation examines why resilience is ultimately a leadership challenge, how poor data can undermine even the most advanced technology, and where human judgment remains essential as organizations automate more decisions. Key Takeaways Why increased tariffs create additional complexity and uncertainty for global trade and supply chain teams How consumer spending pressures, food waste, inflation, and changing purchasing habits may be influencing grocery sales Why supply chain resilience requires action, not simply visibility, risk documentation, or additional technology How experienced leaders use patterns, information, and anticipation to make stronger decisions Why AI often exposes existing data-quality problems rather than creating new ones Which routine supply chain tasks are best suited for AI and where human oversight remains critical How technology can eliminate repetitive work and help teams focus on higher-value decisions Why conversations, collaboration, and real-world experience remain powerful sources of supply chain insight Supply chain leaders do not need more information for information's sake—they need the ability to recognize patterns, evaluate risks, and act with confidence. Tune in to hear practical perspectives on using AI responsibly, strengthening operational resilience, improving decision-making, and preparing your organization for the next disruption. Are you relying on single-action shooting for your revolver at the range? In this episode of Guns Podcast US, hosts Brent T. Wheat and Roy Huntington dive deep into the age-old debate of single-action versus double-action shooting. They explain why defaulting to single-action on a defensive revolver is not only holding back your accuracy but can also be a dangerous habit. Join the conversation as Roy breaks down the mechanics of a proper double-action trigger pull, the importance of staging, and why mastering this technique will make you a far more competent and safe shooter. Whether you are a seasoned revolver enthusiast or just starting your journey, this episode provides the critical insights you need to improve your marksmanship and understand the true capabilities of your firearm. Key Takeaways · Shooting double-action forces better trigger control and overall marksmanship compared to the crutch of single-action. · Using single-action in a defensive situation is considered incompetent and dangerous due to the extremely light trigger pull and potential for negligent discharge. · Proper double-action shooting involves 'staging' the trigger, feeling for the mechanical clicks, and maintaining a smooth, continuous pull. · Most accuracy issues with double-action are caused by poor technique and lack of practice rather than the mechanism itself. · Revolvers have complex internal mechanisms; understanding how they operate is crucial for both safety and performance. · Negligent discharges are often legally framed as 'negligence' in court, regardless of whether you claim it was an accident. -- Have a topic idea or a guest you'd like to see in a future episode? The latest broadcast of Diamond and Silk’s Chit Chat Live—appropriately titled "Turning Tragedy Into Action"—provided an emotional platform for families alleging negligence and abuse behind institutional hospital doors. Hosted by Rochelle "Silk" Richardson, the episode featured advocate Heidi Bond discussing systemic medical protocol failures, while cross-platform discussions highlighted grassroots documentary campaigns by filmmakers and activists like Patty Myers. The broadcast tapped into a deep well of collective grief and frustration. Rather than letting sorrow fade into silence, the central message across the stream and its viewer communities was clear: turn mourning into a demand for transparency, accountability, and reform.
