#740 Show Notes: https://wetflyswing.com/740 Presented by: Northern Rockies Adventures In this episode, we dive into the remote and wild fishing experiences offered by Northern Rockies Adventures with Daniel Schildknecht, Phil Rowley, and Lance Egan. From chasing Northern Pike, Lake Trout, and Grayling to navigating untouched rivers by float plane, this trip had it all. Plus, we get an inside look at an upcoming hosted trip that might be your next dream adventure. Strap in for big fish, wild landscapes, and some unforgettable moments on the Wet Fly Swing Podcast! Episode Chapters with Phil, Daniel, and Lance on Northern Rockies Whitefish, Grayling, and the Predator-Prey Game The lakes and rivers of the Northern Rockies are home to a mix of fish, each playing a role in the ecosystem. While whitefish and grayling might not be top targets for every angler, they tell an important story about these waters. Key Takeaways: - Whitefish = Healthy Water – Mountain whitefish are a sign of clean, untouched rivers. If they're thriving, so is the fishery. - Grayling on Dry Flies – These fish love rising to dries but don't always have the best aim. Be ready for multiple takes! - Whitefish = Food Source – Big rainbows, bull trout, and lake trout feast on whitefish. Schools of them hugging the bank means predators are nearby. Some of the best fishing moments happen when you're not just casting but observing. In these remote waters, every fish has a role, and understanding them can make you a better angler. Crystal Clear Lakes and a Short but Intense Fishing Season The lakes of the Northern Rockies aren't like most others. They are deep, clear, and packed with life. With diverse landscapes and rich water quality, these lakes create the perfect habitat for big, healthy fish. What Makes These Lakes Special? - Ultra-clear water – No murky lakes here, just pristine, see-through waters. - Rich food sources – Scuds (freshwater shrimp), snails, and chironomids fuel big trout. - Diverse habitats – From deep, rocky basins to shallow, weedy shoals, every lake is different. The fishing season here is short but intense. If you're after prime stillwater action, aim for June to September. For big pike, cooler water in June or late August is best. And if dry flies are your thing, mid-July to mid-August is peak time. Chasing Lake Trout: Timing, Depth, and Surprise Encounters Lake trout can be tricky on the fly, but with the right approach, they're not impossible. These fish love cold, oxygen-rich water, so they move deep when temperatures rise. But sometimes, they show up in the last place you'd expect. Flying into the Wild: The Ultimate Fishing Access Getting to Northern Rockies Adventures isn't just a journey—it's part of the experience. Float planes take anglers deep into untouched waters, where the only crowds are schools of hungry fish. The Bush Planes That Get You There - Caravan – A “rocket ship on floats,” built for speed and comfort. - Turbo Otter – A powerhouse that carries up to nine anglers in style. - King Air 300 – The luxury ride from Vancouver, flying right over the Rockies. Every flight brings jaw-dropping views, from rugged peaks to remote lakes. And with bubble windows, you're never missing a moment. No crowded boats, no long drives—just you, a plane, and the adventure ahead. Phil and Tim Flagler are teaming up for a special hosted trip at Northern Rockies Adventures from August 10–17, 2025. This trip offers a mix of stillwater and river fishing, with access to some of the wildest and most untouched fisheries in North America. What to Expect - Four flyouts to remote waters, targeting multiple species. - Guided and hosted fishing with Phil, Tim, and the Northern Rockies team. - Pre-trip Zoom sessions to go over logistics, gear, and flies. - Lodge accommodations with incredible food and views. If you're interested in joining the trip, email Daniel or Phil at daniel@nradventures.com or flycraft@shaw.ca or visit flycraftangling.com. Exploring the Northern Rockies by Float Plane Lance Egan spent an unforgettable week at Northern Rockies Adventures, fishing six out of seven days and staying at the lodge right off the Alaska Highway. The experience combined world-class fishing, comfortable accommodations, and breathtaking views. Lance landed rainbows, bull trout, grayling, northern pike, and lake trout while exploring the remote waters. With 132 million hectares of wilderness and 80+ fishing locations, the possibilities were endless. Even after a week, it felt like they had only scratched the surface. One of the biggest highlights? Flying in a float plane over untouched rivers and hidden lakes, picking the perfect spot to fish. With so many unexplored waters, it's an angler's paradise waiting to be discovered. A Fly Fishing Playground: Dry Flies, Streamers, and Bull Trout Lance mixed it up on this trip, fishing dry flies, streamers, and even topwater poppers. While dry fly fishing was his go-to, he also found success stripping streamers for bull trout, pike, and lake trout. Bull Trout: Targeted near drop-offs and inlets, using streamers like white sparkle minnows. - Pike: Explosive topwater eats on poppers and divers in shallow, clear lakes. - Grayling & Rainbows: Dry flies were the ticket, with spot-and-stalk fishing making for exciting takes. Kris commissions his signature ‘Santa's Dildo'.By cb summers. Listen to the Podcast at Steamy Stories. When I woke up, I had a splitting headache. Blizzard was standing on a stool in front of my chair, licking the last of Sugar Plum's cum out of my beard with her long, sensitive tongue. She was wearing a white robe, one of Mary's new uniforms. I waited until she was done.“What time is it?” I mumbled.“Three hours after closing time,” she answered. “I'm glad the quitting bell didn't awaken you. It arose such a clatter.”I felt like throwing up. Blizzard grabbed a trashcan without me even needing to ask. She always knew what I wanted before I did. She was such a good elf. She held the can under my mouth.“I don't feel so good.”“You drank too much elf milk. So did Indigo. I had to send her home early. Everyone else stayed late to get their work done, just in case you're wondering. And be of good cheer, your headache will pass.”I saw the ripped up shreds of the secretary costume in the trashcan.“How did you know?”“I saw how you looked at Holly. I knew what you were thinking. You wanted to anoint her, but you didn't because you loved Mrs. Kringle. But you don't love her any more, do you?”“No.”“I thought not. I am very perceptive. And I don't think you're going to vomit after all.” She was right. I was feeling better. She put the trashcan on the floor. “I suppose I should tell you that I encouraged Holly to present herself as a gift to you. I felt you needed it. It cannot be good to go so many years without anointing anyone. I even made the pretty underwear for her. I wore the same pair last night, though I had to take them in a bit.”“Really? Those were the same panties?”“Yes. Imagine my surprise when you passed on the opportunity. Humans. Very difficult to understand.”“It's a good thing I turned her down. I might have injured her.”“Yes, but I didn't know how large you were at the time. Your elf servants have seen you naked of course, but apparently you triple in size when you harden. I am perceptive, but I didn't think about that. Silly me. So, it's definitely a good thing you didn't attempt to mount Holly. She had a very small pussy.”“How do you know?”“Oh, I made love to her the morning after you turned her down… well, she looked so sad and so horny. She didn't like my tongue at first… it really is quite long, even for an Elf, but she quickly learned to enjoy it. And I learned to enjoy the flavor of human pussy. It's really quite nice.”Even all these years later, the thought of Blizzard going down on Holly was enough to give me a hard-on. “You… had sex with Holly?”“She'd done such a good job as my assistant, I thought it was the least I could do. I anointed her with my milk. She was very happy when she left.” Then Blizzard kissed me on the lips and said, “Thank you, Mr. Kringle, for the secretary's day gift.”I smiled. I felt warm and alive. “Thank you, Blizzard, for the fantasy come true.”She laughed a high, musical laugh. “My pleasure. But it was only fantasy for the first few minutes.” She squeezed my growing erection, “I've got to go home, Mr. Kringle. Maybe tomorrow.”She hopped off my lap and started walking toward the door. I looked around and noticed that the cum had all been cleaned up. I'd have never known an orgy had happened here, other than the stains on my own clothes.“Is that sort of thing normal for elves?”“Not really, Santa. We never have love-share during working hours.” She said as she was walking out the door.“Then why did you do it today?”“You wanted us to, of course,” With a wink of her eye, she closed the door. Blizzard was a perceptive elf, but not a wise one. She knew what I wanted without needing to ask, but she didn't seem to know that sometimes what we want isn't necessarily what's good for us.SCENE 5:SAVING CHRISTMASAs Kris told his story, he rarely looked at me but up at the ceiling instead, perhaps afraid I might be judging him. He needn't have worried. I was sitting cross-legged on the other bed, listening with rapt attention, totally turned on. During his story he'd grown hard every time he got to one of the ‘good parts'. But each time he'd brought his knees up to hide what was happening. But I could see the outlines of his massive shaft inside the loose fitting trousers. I found myself salivating, itching to slip onto his bed and unleash his manhood. But I had a modicum of willpower now, so I forced myself to sit still and listen. When he started describing the crazy elf orgy in his office his eyes glazed over, lost in his memories, unaware that he was getting hard. Much to my surprise and delight, Kris' cock grew larger and larger until his pants were tenting straight up a good ten inches. Then, when he got to the part of his story where he sodomized Blizzard, his cock grew even longer and slowly ripped through the fabric of his loose (but not loose enough) pants. My god! He wasn't lying, it could actually do that! I watched in amazement as the head of his massive pole emerged through the splitting seam, encased at first in his silky red boxers, which were decorated with Christmas trees. But soon the insistent bulge ripped through the silk too, and what to my wondering eyes should appear? Santa's fifteen inch cock! It was darker than the rest of his skin, ruddy and throbbing with his hot blood. The boxers and pants settled, revealing every inch of his throbbing Santahood. I thought he'd been bragging when he how big it was. But I shouldn't have doubted him. Kris Kringle never lies!I'd seen hundreds of cocks on my cross-country quest, from the tiniest little tadgers to the world's biggest pricks. I thought I'd seen them all, but I was wrong. This was definitely the biggest one of them all, by far! I don't particularly care how big a man's penis is when he's fucking me. It always feels great. In fact, anything over two inches thick is downright uncomfortable. But I've always loved to see and hold huge shlongs in my hands, ever since I'd given a bath to fake homeless Santa. Whenever I came across a hung Santa, I'd usually give him a hand job while he fingered me. Sometimes I didn't even need that much to have an orgasm, it was so exciting for me. So looking at Kris' abominable snowman made me instantly wet. I could barely concentrate on his fascinating story. When he finished talking about the orgy, his cock started getting softer, and he only noticed it when it flopped heavily over onto his thigh.“Damn it!” shouted Kris. He sat up in bed to cover himself. His cheeks turned beet red, “I'm so sorry. I hate when it does that!”“It's okay, Kris. Believe me, I've seen it all.” He smiled at me and fumbled his cock back into the ripped hole. I even enjoyed watching that. “I hope that's never happened when kids are around.”“No. I only see kids when I'm delivering toys, and to do that I need all my concentration on the task. I need to be filled, suffused with love and the spirit of Christmas. If I'm thinking about anything else… like naked elves for instance, I just can't do it. I mean, I have to fly my sleigh around to millions of houses in a few hours' time.”“Yes, how do you do that? I've always wanted to know!”“I don't know… I just do. I go into some sort of time warp, I guess. I don't know how it works. It just does. If I'm in the 'Christmas Spirit', that is.” The expression on his face suddenly became desperate and tears filled his eyes. Now I understood. I moved closer, sitting on the edge of my bed. “You're afraid you won't be able to get into the Christmas Spirit this year, don't you?”He burst into tears, holding his hands over his face, his secret fear spoken aloud at last. I moved to his bed and put my hand on his chest. “But what about last Christmas? You delivered the toys then didn't you?”“Yes, but with the added burden of the sex toy deliveries I missed almost twelve thousand homes! I had so send those presents in the… mail.” He said the last word as if it was the most shameful word in the English language. “This year, I don't think I'll be able to deliver any toys at all.” He began weeping again.Santa was a basket case.“Don't cry Kris. I'll help you figure it out.” But of course, I had no idea how. It had taken months for me to stop chasing Santas, even after I realized it was a self-destructive habit that was ruining my life. Christmas Eve was tomorrow! There was precious little time to quiet Kris' troubled mind.I lay down in bed next to Kris, and cuddled him, my hand on his belly, and my head on his shoulder. His strong arm hugged me lightly, but he didn't try to reach farther and feel me up. If he had, I don't know what I would have done.A dim light was coming through the window. Shit! I'd been listening to his story for so many hours, I hadn't noticed the time! It had to be after noon, because the sun was only up between noon and 2 in Alaska that time of year. But Kris felt so warm in my arms. I decided to give him a few minutes to cry softly, while I cuddled him and patted his belly. I closed my eyes… for just a second. When I woke up, Kris' cock had emerged from the hole in his pants again. It seemed to be towering above me. Then I noticed that my bare hand was wrapped around the base of it. Blitzen, it was warm! I could hear from his light snoring that he was asleep. I didn't move a muscle. I just looked at his cock, feeling his flesh in my hand. How long had I been holding it? There was something familiar about his cock… almost like I'd seen it before. Déjà vu… I watched as a tiny bit of pre-cum seeped out of the tip and dripped down the shaft. I stared in fascination as it made its long trip downward, until it spread out on my knuckle. What was I doing?I let go, and sat up. I looked at the clock. We'd been asleep for hours. It was nearly five P.M. on Christmas Eve!“Santa… Kris. Wake up,” I said, my back to him, not wanting to be tempted by the sight of his cock again. “It's Christmas Eve.”He woke up and cursed again at his misbehaving member.I laughed. “Maybe you should invest in some stretch-pants,” I said.He chuckled deeply. “I'm glad I amuse you so much.”I still had no idea what to do to help him, but I knew where to start.“Kris. You need to take me to the North Pole.”I said it firmly, in a no-nonsense way. He said, “Okay.”He'd parked his Sleigh behind a stand of trees a few hundred yards from the diner. My god, the reindeer were beautiful. They were huge and furry. I couldn't believe I was actually seeing them with my own eyes! Kris introduced them to me. Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Sprinkles. Blitzen was apparently home, sick with a cold. As I met each reindeer I was amazed at how individual each one was. Some pranced and pawed, others just stared at me stoically. Apparently Kris understood their language, but I didn't. Just sounded like a bunch of honking and snorting to me.Santa had to hook them to the sleigh, because he'd unbridled them before coming to see me at the Moose Café. That actually touched me a bit. It meant he'd planned to spend some time chatting with me. Or maybe it meant he'd hoped to fuck me. Either way, it was touching. The sleigh was impressive for how unimpressive it was. In all the movies it's this super-amazing contraption. But Santa's sleigh is just an ordinary wooden sleigh with chipped paint and rusty old bells. It looked like it had been patched up a hundred times like the old junker I drove. When I climbed aboard, I didn't feel magical. I had imagined this moment my whole life, but it was actually quite ordinary. Just two people climbing aboard an old sleigh. Ho, hum.But then he shouted in his booming voice, “Dash away!” and the reindeer started galloping. The whole rickety contraption lifted off the snow, as if it were light as a feather. My heart leapt up in my throat! Now this was more like it! The reindeer hooves were now running in midair. We banked up steeply, twisting and dodging among the glistening treetops. I suddenly felt as if the sleigh were going to tip over, so I threw my arms around Kris and looked back to see the lights of Anchorage growing small behind us. The sky was clear. The storm had passed during the night. We were surrounded by stars, dancing playfully around the moon, illuminating a wonderland of snow below us. I held Kris Kringle tight. We snuggled up together, so comfy… so cozy were we.After a while I noticed something odd.“Kris. We must be a thousand feet up, in the arctic… but I'm not cold.”“Of course not. You're with me.”We were picking up speed, but I saw Kris pull back on the reins a bit. I understood. There were still things to be said, but he didn't know how to continue.I gave him a nudge, “So, what happened after the orgy in your office? It sounds like you'd sort of made your peace with the situation.”“Yes. That's right. I didn't have any more orgies for a while. But I did start sleeping with… I mean, fucking female elves, usually one to four at a time. I was shy about it at first, but Blizzard was happy to hook me up with any elf that caught my eye, as long as they weren't Mary's elves. But soon I didn't need help. I hung sprigs of mistletoe about the factory, and if any female elf happened to be standing under one, well she was fair game. It was really quite a fun, liberating time. But I missed Snowbell.”“You didn't see Snowbell?”“No. I asked around for her, but Mary made it clear that Snowbell was her elf, not mine. I didn't want to fight, so there wasn't much I could do about it. Mary and I… well we never talked about any of it. Eventually we stopped talking entirely. She never ate dinner with me anymore, but stayed over in her wing working on her project.”“So you never saw Snowbell again?” I felt sad. From his story, I could tell that Snowbell was special to him.He smiled, “I saw her one last time. She snuck into my bedroom one night. I awoke with her sucking my cock. She laughed and laughed when I woke up, thinking it was the funniest thing in the world. Then she got serious and said that she'd been wanting to see me ever so much, but Mary wouldn't let her. I could tell she was conflicted. She was still wearing her hair down as said she would, but she had no choice but to obey Mary. It was in her blood. So I asked her what she was doing in my room. She said Mary had sent her with a proposition. In exchange for one night with Snowbell, I was to donate something to the sex toy project.”“What?”“My cock.”“What do you mean?”“I asked the same thing and when Snowbell told me I had no choice but to comply. I would have traded anything for one more night with that little elf. We fucked for hours. I think we both knew it would be our last time. But before I was done, and when I was at my hardest and longest, Snowbell shaved all the hair off my cock and balls, and spread a molding compound around everything.”Oh, my god… could it be?“When Snowbell was finished she had a perfect cast of my cock and balls. She cleaned off the residue and we went back to fucking… making love, actually, until I fell asleep. When I awoke, Snowbell and the cast were gone.”I started breathing hard. Oh my god, I thought, I hope he tells me what I think he's gonna tell me!“I was sad. But Christmas was coming and I had no time to be maudlin. Anyway, a few days before Christmas Eve Mary finally showed me the sex toy she wanted me to deliver. Apparently, after all the product testing with all the crazy contraptions she could find, she'd determined that the classic sex toy would be best. The big giant dick.”I was right! I was right!“She'd turned the cast of my cock into this big rubber…”I interrupted him, shouting in delight, “…dildo that plays Christmas carols!”He looked at me and a big smile warmed his face. “Did you like it, Virginia?”Oh it was too wonderful for words. “Kris! You saved my life!” I stood up, jumped between his knees and threw my arms around him, kissing him with all my love. Kris Kringle had saved my life!We kissed for a long time. His cock got hard, emerging from the hole in his pants again. It moved up my belly and rested between my breasts, but I didn't touch it. I just wanted to kiss him and he wanted to kiss me. We explored each other's mouths for a long time, sometimes looking into each other's eyes. His azure eyes were the color of a clear blue mountain lake. Eventually his cock realized that I didn't want to fuck, and it shrunk again. I just wanted to kiss Kris Kringle on his sleigh, a thousand feet above the ground, as we crossed the Arctic Circle. When I'd had my fill, I stepped back and saw the quizzical expression on his face.“Thanks,” he said. “But I didn't save your life, Virginia. I just gave you a rubber cock. You didn't send me your customary Christmas list, so I had to put your name on Mary's sex toy list. I was… actually quite worried that you'd be offended by it. That was a pretty obscene Christmas gift. I almost refused to deliver them… but Mary had put so much work into her project, and I was so distracted by all the elf sex I was having, I just didn't have the energy to say no. But right before delivering them, I ripped all the 'from: Santa' tags off.”I put my hands on his fuzzy face. I loved him with all my heart. I'd always loved Santa. But now I loved Kris Kringle, and that's a different thing altogether. “Kris, I never really finished my story earlier. I think now's a good time to tell you how I finally got my shit together. And how you saved my life. ”“Okay”, he said.I kneeled on the bench next to him and held his hand as I talked. “Well, when I found out I was a truck stop whore, I was pretty ticked off, let me tell you. I didn't regret fucking and blowing scores of anonymous Santas. But the lying… it really pissed me off. So before that jerk of a truck driver came back from the shitter, I got behind the wheel of his eighteen-wheeler and drove off without him. He'd taught me how to drive it, the idiot. I headed straight for Alaska. I knew he wouldn't call the cops on me. I mean, what could he say to them? He was my pimp. I could easily prove that and put him in jail."I stopped for gas and Santa hunting all along the Alaska Highway. Fort Nelson, Watson Lake, Winterhorse… Everywhere I stopped I found Santas to kiss and suck and fuck, but they all turned out to be phonies. But I kept heart. I was on a holy mission. Something… some natural force in the universe was driving me to seek you out!”“Well,” he said, “You've finally found me.”I kissed him again, but briefly, and continued my story, “I was getting more and more desperate. By the time I reached Anchorage, Christmas was only a few days away. I started cracking up. I needed to find you… I knew you were in crisis… that you needed me. I was so desperate that I started questioning everything I knew about Santa, and I stopped looking for bearded, jolly, fat men. Now… any man would do. Any man at all as long as he was over thirty. I'd just walk into a gas station or a bar and start kissing every man in the place. Sometimes they'd chase me out… sometimes they wouldn't. Sometimes it ended up with me following them home or taking them back to my stolen truck. Sometimes I was flat on my back in the slushy mud of a freezing cold back alley. Sometimes it was more than one man at a time. One night, four days before Christmas Eve, I went into a sleazy bar, and I was gang fucked. I won't say gang-raped, because I enjoyed every fucking instant of it. There were ten or fifteen men there, all ages, all races, all sizes, fucking me one after another, filling my pussy with cum, shoving their cocks down my throat, jacking off all over my naked body as I lay on my back on the pool table. I loved it… but one by one I realized none of them were you. I begged them to call their friends, anyone, everyone, because Santa was out there somewhere and he needed me to fuck him!”“Oh, Virginia. I'm so sorry.”“An hour and eight men later, a woman came into the bar looking for her boyfriend. When she saw me naked on the pool table, dripping with cum, a line of men waiting for their turn on me, she fought them off and rescued me. I didn't want to leave, but by this time I was too exhausted to resist. She wanted to call the police, but I convinced her that they weren't raping me. I'd asked them to do it… begged them to. She gave me a t-shirt, since my clothes were back at the bar. Then she gave me some sleeping pills, and I fell asleep. But as soon as I woke up I ran straight out the door. Soon I was dashing through the snow, barefoot, going from house to house, looking for men."The first door I banged on was answered by a little old man, probably in his nineties, carrying an oxygen tank. He looked jolly enough for me. I kissed him like crazy, but the tubes that were blowing oxygen up his nose were in the way, so I got on my knees, unzipped his fly and went to town on his cock before he even knew what was happening. He got very hard, very fast. I gobbled on his knob until he shot his wad in my mouth. I looked up at his astonished face, and realized he wasn't you, so I apologized, and ran to the next house. Nobody home. Next house: a woman. Next house…"I found a middle aged man shoveling his sidewalk. I pushed him onto his back in the snow and started kissing him and rubbing myself all over him. I crawled up his body and rubbed my pussy in his face… I was naked under the t-shirt. He was too stunned to lick me or anything so I just fucked his face for a while. He took off his gloves and started feeling me up… my ass, my tits. Finally he started licking my pussy like crazy. That was more like it! I finally had a screaming orgasm. I was going to fuck him next, but I heard his wife in the house yelling, 'what was that noise, Frank? Are you okay?' Frank? Not Santa? I jumped up and ran off. Next house, nobody home, next house a woman making breakfast for her children."Next I came across a small church. I ran inside, intending to pray for you to find me, but instead I found the pastor polishing a candelabra. Soon, I was polishing his penis; first with my mouth, then with my pussy. He was an enthusiastic convert to the church of Virginia, because he bent me over on the railing they give communion at and fucked me from behind. Instead of shooting his wad in me, however, he had me kneel in front of him while he jerked himself off on my face. I looked up at him, my hands together, praying he would turn out to be the real true Santa. He wasn't. Just a perverted priest, led astray by a Santa-seeking slut."I was absolutely totally crazed, but happy, so happy! I felt as if I were fulfilling my purpose in the universe! I didn't even knock at the next door I came to. I just barged right in and saw a teenaged boy sitting in front of a television, playing a video game. He was definitely the youngest person I'd ever considered might be Santa, but by this time my standards had really slipped. It turned out later he was eighteen, but I didn't even think about it at the time. I just pushed his game controller aside, unzipped his fly and started sucking his cock. He couldn't believe what was happening. It was like his secret Christmas wish had come true. I heard later that he was a virgin. He isn't anymore. As soon as he was good and hard, I jumped on his lap and started fucking him. He was so astonished that he didn't even notice the preacher's cum dripping off my face. As I fucked him I lifted my shirt up and rubbed my breasts all over his face. His hard young cock felt so good inside me! I started having a screaming orgasm. Soon he started quivering, then he started cumming."That's when his mother came back from the store. She'd gone to buy a new snow shovel. When she walked in, she thought her son was being attacked by some wild woman from the woods… and I guess he was. She attacked me with the snow shovel.”I lifted up my bangs, to show the long scar I now had on my forehead.Kris' eyes were smoky with compassion. I noticed he had an erection from my story, but he'd put a blanket in his lap to cover it up. He leaned toward me and kissed my scar.I smiled, “There's another one on my thigh… I'll let you kiss that one later. That woman really did a number on me. She even knocked out my two front teeth. I still owe money for the implants. But… actually, she did me a favor. She stopped my ecstatic rampage. I woke up in the Anchorage hospital.”“Yes, I remember,” said Kris. “I'd wondered why you were in a hospital, but I couldn't stick around to find out. I still had millions of presents to deliver.”I put my hand on his cheek. “That's okay. Anyway, when I woke up, it was Christmas eve. I was scarred, and black and blue all over. A male doctor came in to see me, and the first thing I did was to try to unzip his fly to suck his cock. He backed off and I tried to get out of bed to get at him! He said there was a big suture on my thigh, so I needed to keep still. But I didn't care. The nurses had to restrain me… strap me to the bed so I wouldn't hurt myself. The doctor called in a psychiatrist. I was too crazed with desperation to lie, so I told her that I needed to find Santa, I needed to fuck him! I couldn't explain it. I just had to! She was very nice, but in the end she filled out some paperwork to have me transferred to a mental hospital in a few days. I knew what that meant. I'd be locked up! But later that night I was able to talk the nurses into taking off my restraints. They figured it was cruel to keep me strapped down on Christmas Eve. But they kept a sharp eye on me. I waited and waited for everyone to leave for the day. But I fell asleep, listening to the nurses sing Silver Bells as they exchanged presents out in the nurse's station. When I woke up, it was dark. No one was stirring.”“Not even a mouse?” asked Kris, smiling.“Not even a mouse. I snuck out of bed, determined to escape. I was going to run out into the cold dark night. It was crazy. The suture on my leg would have opened up. I'd have bled to death, or froze. I didn't care. I just needed to find Santa… but then… I saw it.”“My present,” he said, smiling.I nodded. “Your present. It was sitting right there, on the rolling tray next to my bed. A big, red, wrapped oblong box. I wondered if the nurses had left it for me. I didn't see a tag. I wanted to run… but I thought… maybe, just maybe, this present was from you. So I carefully unwrapped it, quietly and slowly so nobody would hear me. I was surprised as fuck-all when I saw what was inside. It said 'Santa's Little Helper' on the box, and had a small cartoony drawing of you. Most of the box, though, was clear plastic and I could see what was inside. A giant rubber cock, colored red and white in a spiral pattern, just like the North Pole. I started laughing. I thought, what the fuck is this? Who the hell gave this crazy thing to me? I mean… it was obscene! It was like, fifteen inches long, and four inches thick!” I mimicked the shape and size of it with my hands. He laughed.“When I saw your cock earlier, I should have recognized it. But the spiral red and white stripes must have thrown me off. And I never, even once, thought that YOU had given me that crazy cock! I took it out of the package, absolutely fascinated by it! I didn't know then what I found so fascinating. But… now I know. It was you, Kris. It was your cock. It was what I'd been searching for the last three years… but I didn't even know it! I held it in my hands, feeling its meaty weight… it's insane girth. In spite of the unrealistic coloring, it felt so realistic. I had a rubber cock once… it was all floppy, but this thing… well it was stiff as well as soft, just like a real cock. I knew it would never fit inside me… but I had to try it out. I lay back on my bed, my desire to run away suddenly forgotten. I lifted up my hospital gown and pulled my panties open. I put the head of that monster up to my pussy lips and began to masturbate my clit with it. It felt amazing. I have no idea why. My skin tingled at its touch. It began to vibrate, even though I hadn't turned on any switch. It was a soft vibration… almost undetectable, not like the crude buzzing that normal dildoes make. I started getting wet… and I mean soaking wet. I pushed the head of that thing between my pussy lips and it slid inside. I couldn't believe it. I'd never been able to enjoy the feeling of a big dick inside me, and this was bigger than any I'd ever felt before. It was mind blowing. Oh sure, it felt tight, but it fit! So I decided that it must have been designed to shrink in order to fit inside anybody, no matter their size, you know, like squeezing a sponge. Anyway, it felt good inside me, so I thrust it deeper and it really seemed to go farther than I would have thought possible. It was like a magic act really… the way it seemed to disappear inside me… all the way to the base. And weirdest of all… it was like I could feel all fifteen inches of it inside me, even though I know, for a fact, I am not fifteen inches deep!”Kris was surprised to hear all this. “I didn't know it did that. Mary didn't demonstrate it for me. Just loaded them up on the sleigh. Wow. Elf magic, I guess.”I giggled, “When it was all the way inside me, it started playing a Christmas carol. 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'. I laughed out loud! I thought it was the craziest gift ever! I was so curious who'd left it for me so I could thank them! I grabbed it by its big, heavy balls and started fucking myself with it, and soon I felt so good, I forgot all about how weird it was. I was just fucking myself, feeling the vibration of the music deep inside me. I crammed it into myself for minute after wonderful minute, screaming into a pillow to stifle the sound. I had a powerful orgasm. Powerful."I lay back, the cock… your cock, still inside me, and I went into a post orgiastic state. But your cock wasn't finished with me! It started moving inside me, very slightly, just enough to keep my orgasm zinging, like it was a stone skipping across a lake. I don't know how long this lasted but when it was over… I was absolutely spent… and I felt content. My need to chase Santa had lessened. It was still there, but the hungry, insane desperation was gone. I pulled your cock out of me and lay in bed, hugging it to my belly like a pet, and fell asleep, getting the first really good night's sleep I'd had in two years.”I kissed Kris again. “Thank you for the present Santa.”“You're welcome, Virginia.”To be continued..By cb summers for Literotica
Interview with Neil Pettigrew, VP Exploration of GT Resources Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/gt-resources-tsxvgt-strategic-position-in-critical-metals-exploration-with-glencore-backing-5954Recording date: 28th November 2024GT Resources (TSXV:GT) offers investors a compelling opportunity to gain exposure to the high-potential nickel and copper space via Canadian and Finland projects. The company's flagship asset is the Canalask nickel-copper project in Yukon. Located just off the Alaska Highway, Canalask is a high-grade magmatic sulfide system with similarities to world-class nickel camps like Norilsk and Voisey's Bay.The company recently completed its first drill program at Canalask in over 20 years, returning impressive intercepts like 2% nickel over 20-30 meter widths. VP Exploration Neil Pettigrew believes these high-grade footwall intercepts are indicative of a larger source in the main ultramafic intrusion that has yet to be drill-tested. A follow-up drill program is planned for 2025 to vector in on the location of potential massive sulfides.GT also owns 100% of the North Rock copper project in mining-friendly Ontario. North Rock features a 13 km trend of copper-bearing gabbros, with historic resources of 1 Mt at 1.2% Cu at the Beaver Pond zone. This includes a 10,000 tonne stockpile grading up to 8% Cu. Pettigrew sees potential for both bulk tonnage and high-grade mineralization at North Rock and is undertaking borehole geophysics to define targets for follow-up drilling.GT is led by a proven management team with multiple successes under their belts, including advancing the 90 Mt LK nickel project in Finland. The company is well-funded with over C$10 million in working capital and counts major miner Glencore as one of its largest shareholders. With a market capitalization of under C$25 million, GT is significantly undervalued relative to the quality and potential of its projects. Near-term catalysts include ongoing exploration results from both Canalask and North Rock, along with potential strategic interest given the scarcity of high-quality nickel and copper projects globally. As the electrification trend accelerates, GT Resources offers speculative investors a low-risk, high-reward way to play rising demand and prices for these critical metals.View GT Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/palladium-one-miningSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
Get totally TRUCKED UP! Simon Lindley, fed up with the FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) surrounding electric vehicle (EV) trucks, decided to take matters into his own hands. He launched the Trucked Up EVs YouTube channel, where he's on a mission to test the limits of these electric beasts, evaluate the charging infrastructure across Canada, and debunk some myths. I caught up with Simon at the very beginning of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. He was plugged into a BC Hydro DC Fast Charging station, charging his Ford F-150 Lightning at lightning speed. To truly understand the pros, cons, and challenges of touring with an EV truck, Simon embarked on an epic 24,000-kilometer cross-country adventure. He's testing the limits of his EV, exploring the charging landscape across every province, and engaging with his viewers in local coffee shops to discuss the future of electric vehicles. Interview with Derrick Weyrauch, President & CEO of GT Resources Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/gt-resources-tsxvgt-positioned-for-success-in-the-green-transportation-revolution-5060Recording date: 17th June 2024GT Resources (TSXV:GT) is an attractively valued junior explorer with two highly prospective nickel-copper projects in mining-friendly jurisdictions. With the world rapidly transitioning to clean energy technologies, demand for key battery metals like nickel and copper is set to soar in the coming decades. GT offers investors compelling exposure to this macro theme and a timely opportunity to invest alongside mining heavyweights Glencore and Eric Sprott. The company's flagship asset is the Canalask Nickel-Copper Project in Yukon, Canada. Canalask boasts excellent access and infrastructure, situated just off the Alaska Highway about a 4.5 hour drive from the capital of Whitehorse. Previous drilling by Falconbridge in the early 2000s identified a historic footwall deposit grading an impressive 1.35% nickel, with grab samples returning up to 6% copper. With a recent $1.8 million financing, GT is commencing its drill program at the Canalask Nickel-Copper project. The company plans to drill 400-500 meter depths to test geophysical anomaly. The goal is to confirm and expand the historic resource while vectoring in on higher grade massive sulfide mineralization. With drilling expected to continue into late August, steady news flow from Canalask should provide ample catalysts for GT's stock over the summer months.GT's secondary assets in Finland provide investors with additional upside optionality. The LK Project hosts a large existing disseminated sulfide resource while the adjoining KS Project offers potential for new high-grade discoveries. Grab sampling at LK returned extremely high metal tenors including 1.3% nickel and 0.3% copper. GT plans to conduct geophysical surveys at KS later this year to generate drill targets for a future program. The company is well-capitalized to aggressively advance both its Yukon and Finland portfolios with over $10 million in working capital. This strong treasury, along with a tight share structure and institutional backing from the likes of Glencore and Eric Sprott, are key differentiators for GT versus many of its junior mining peers.Of course, investing in early-stage exploration companies carries elevated risk. Many things can go wrong ranging from low-grade drill results to permitting delays, social opposition, and lack of infrastructure. However, GT has taken steps to mitigate these risks by securing projects in favorable jurisdictions and maintaining a diversified asset base. As CEO Derrick Weyrauch explains, "You want to have multiple projects so if one's getting slowed down or doesn't work, you flip into the next great idea."The investment thesis for GT is straightforward: the company offers investors a compelling combination of high-grade nickel-copper projects, imminent catalysts, a strong treasury, and world-class backing to capitalize on the once-in-a-generation opportunity in battery metals. With drilling at Canalask set to commence in the coming weeks, now appears an opportune time for investors to take a closer look at GT Resources.View GT Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/palladium-one-miningSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Countries Seek To Return To The MoonOn Wednesday, the Indian space agency ISRO celebrated as its Chandrayaan-3 craft successfully made a soft landing at the lunar south pole. This is the first mission to explore the region around the moon's southern pole, and a major success for ISRO. The mission plans to use a robotic rover to conduct a series of experiments over the course of about 2 weeks, largely centered around the availability of water and oxygen-containing materials.Less than a week earlier, a Russian craft, Luna-25, crashed onto the moon. It would have been Russia's first moon landing in 47 years. The cause of the crash is not yet known. Maggie Koerth, science journalist and editorial lead for CarbonPlan, joins guest host Flora Lichtman to talk about the two lunar missions and whether the flurry of activity signals a new space race. They'll also discuss other stories from the week in science, including a new analysis of the Y chromosome, work on the camouflage skin of the hogfish, and a setback in a mission to clear up space junk. What's The Human Cost Of Alaska's Mineral Boom?A dusting of snow clings to the highway as Barbara Schuhmann drives around a hairpin curve near her home in Fairbanks, Alaska. She slows for a patch of ice, explaining that the steep turn is just one of many concerns she has about a looming project that could radically transform Alaskan mining as the state begins looking beyond oil.Roughly 250 miles to the southeast, plans are developing to dig an open-pit gold mine called Manh Choh, or “big lake” in Upper Tanana Athabascan. Kinross Alaska, the majority owner and operator, will haul the rock on the Alaska Highway and other roads to a processing mill just north of Fairbanks. The route follows the Tanana River across Alaska's interior, where spruce-covered foothills knuckle below the stark peaks of the Alaska Range. Snowmelt feeds the creeks that form a mosaic of muskeg in nearby Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, a migration corridor for hundreds of bird species. To read the full article, visit sciencefriday.com. Salmon Flourish After Mine Damage Restored In AlaskaOn Friday, July 28, there were hundreds of juvenile salmon clustered in a pool, in clear water surrounded by a bank of fresh woody debris. Not 100 yards away, a spinning drum processed sediment to extract gold. This land is managed by a mining company, but it's also the site of a major stream restoration project. Thousands of salmon are returning to this stream in Hope, more than 100 years after aggressive gold mining affected the path of the river. The project to restore Resurrection Creek has brought together a coalition of stakeholders, including the present-day mining company that occupies the site. The restoration of Resurrection Creek began in the early 2000s. The goal was to correct habitat damage caused by historic mining.More than 100 years ago, heavy mining activity in the gold rush town affected the stream pattern, turning it from a meandering creek to a straight ditch. Jim Roberts is vice president of Hope Mining Company, and he said hydraulic mining in the early 1900s fundamentally changed the waterway. To read the full article, visit sciencefriday.com. All About Sea OttersLast month, a rowdy sea otter was stealing surfboards off the coast of Santa Cruz California, biting chunks out of surfboards, and even catching a few waves. It's rare for a sea otter to get so close to humans in the wild. Authorities are trying to capture the otter, named 841, for her safety and that of the surfers. But, a month later, she remains at large. Guest host Flora Lichtman talks with Jessica Fujii, sea otter program manager at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to get the 411 about Otter 841, and talk all things sea otter—including their sophisticated use of tools, carrying food in their armpits, and busting myths about hand holding. Twenty-nine ski areas with vertical drops over 1,000 feet. Fourteen soar beyond 2,000. Five cross the 3,000-foot mark. Four pass 4,000. And BC is home to the only two ski areas in North America that give you 5,000 or more vertical feet: Whistler and King Revelstoke. Thirteen BC bumps deliver 1,000-plus acres of terrain, and at least 20 load up on 200 inches or more of snow per season. Check these stats:British Columbia is like the Lamborghini dealership of skiing. Lots of power, lots of flash, lots of hot damn is that real? No duds. Nothing you'd be embarrassed to pick up a date in. A few community bumps, sure. But the BC Bros can stack their power towers – Big White, Fernie, Kicking Horse, Kimberley, Panorama, Red, Revelstoke, Silver Star, Sun Peaks, Whistler, and Whitewater – against any collection of ski areas anywhere on the planet and feel pretty good about winning that knife fight. And yet, even in this Seal Team Six of ski resorts, Sun Peaks looks heroic, epaulets and medals dangling from its dress blues. This is the second-largest ski area in Canada. Ponder that BC ski roster again to understand what that means: Sun Peaks gives you more acreage than anything on the famed Powder Highway, more than Revy or Red or Kicking Horse or Fernie. Turn north at Kamloops, east at Hefley Creek, and get lost at the end of the valley. But Sun Peaks' sheer size is less impressive than how the resort won those big-mountain stats. “British Columbia has probably the most progressive ski resort development policy in the world,” Alexander tells me in the podcast. When he arrived at the bump that was then called “Tod Mountain” in 1993, the place was three chairlifts and some surface movers serving a single peak:Over the next 30 years, Nippon Cable transformed the joint into a vast ski Narnia not only because they were willing to funnel vast capital into the hill, but because the BC government let them do it, under a set of rules known as the B.C. Commercial Alpine Ski policy. While inspiring, this is not an unusual ski area evolution tale for Western Canada. Compare the 10 largest BC ski areas today to the 10 largest in 1994:The acreage explosions at all but Whistler-Blackcomb (which at the time operated as independent ski areas), are astonishing. To underscore the point, check out the same years' comparison for the 10-largest U.S. ski areas:Certainly, the U.S. has seen some dramatic shuffling, especially as Vail and Alterra combined Canyons with Park City and Alpine Meadows with the ski area formerly known as Squaw Valley to form the megaresorts of Park City and Palisades Tahoe. That Big Sky didn't measure on the top 10 in 1994 – the tram didn't arrive until 1995 – is amazing. But the Western U.S., in 1994, was already home to legions of enormous ski resorts. That Heavenly, Mammoth, and Jackson Hole are the exact same size today as they were 29 years ago illustrates the difference between the two countries' attitudes toward ski resort expansion and development. Canada nurtures growth. The U.S. makes it as difficult as possible. Indeed, the reason Big Sky was able to ascend to monster status is that the resort sits entirely on private land, immunizing it from Forest Service bureaucracy and the endless public challenges that attend it.Sun Peaks is a case study in BC's development-friendly policies actualized. More important: the resort's evolution is a case study in smart, transit-oriented, pedestrian-friendly development. Alexander explains in the podcast that the long-range goal has been to build not just walkable base villages, but a walkable community stretching from one end of the valley to the other. This is the point that's so often missed in the United States: not all growth and development is bad. The reckless, developer-driven, luxury-focused, disconnected sprawl that is U.S. America's default building mode is terrible and inhuman and ought to be curtailed. Deliberate, dense, interconnected, metered development based upon a community masterplan - which is what Sun Peaks is doing - should be encouraged. This sort of thoughtful growth does not dilute mountain communities. It creates them. Rather than trying to freeze development in time – a posture that only kicks sprawl ever farther out from the mountains and leads directly to the traffic addling so many Western U.S. ski towns – BC has enabled and empowered the sort of place-building that will create sustainable mountain communities over the long term. It's an inspiring model, and one that The Storm will examine intensely as I focus more deliberately on Canada. What we talked aboutRecord skier visits; bringing back that international vibe; touring Western Canada; Sun Peaks' first season on the Ikon Pass; the secret giant; how to dodge what few liftlines the resort has; the Mountain Collective as Ikon test run; Tod Mountain in the early 1990s; ski area masterplanning; Sunshine Village; growing Sun Peaks from backwater to the second-largest ski area in Canada; Nippon Cable, the Japanese lift manufacturer that owns Sun Peaks; why Sun Peaks doesn't use Nippon lifts; why Sun Peaks changed its name from “Tod Mountain” in 1993; an interesting tidbit about Whistler ownership; whether Sun Peaks ever considered joining the Epic Pass; Sun Peaks' masterplan; potential terrain expansions; upgrade potential for Sunburst and Sundance lifts; future lift additions; “the guy who serves the most ski terrain with the fewest lifts is the most efficient”; going deep on the coming West Bowl Express quad and the new terrain that will go along with it; why Sun Peaks retired the West Bowl T-bar before replacing it; better access to Gil's; why Sun Peaks is building the lift over three summers; the amazing Burfield lift, a fixed-grip quad that stretches nearly 3,000 vertical feet; potentially shortening that lift; why Burfield will likely never be a high-speed lift; prioritizing lift projects after West Bowl; converting – not replacing – Orient from a fixed-grip quad to a high-speed quad or six-pack; village-building; the potential major lift that's not on Sun Peaks' masterplan; and potentially connecting the resort to the Trans-Canada highway by paved road from the east. Why I thought that now was a good time for this interviewIn April, Sun Peaks announced construction of a new high-speed quad in West Bowl for the 2024-25 ski season. The lift will replace the West Bowl T-bar, visible on this circa 2019 trailmap, on a longer line that pushes the boundary away from the 7 Mile Road trail:The resort will lengthen the existing trails to meet the new lift's load point down the mountain, as Alexander explains in the podcast. This will be Sun Peaks' third new chairlift in three years, following new fixed-grip quads at Crystal and Orient in 2020 and 2018, respectively. Sun Peaks approaches chairlift construction in a unique manner, with a history of building lifts as fixed-grip machines and then upgrading them to high-speed lifts later on. Orient, for example, may evolve into a high-speed six-pack that lands several hundred more feet up the mountain. Slowly, deliberately, endlessly, Sun Peaks grows and evolves. While Alexander and his team continue to stack bricks into the resort's foundation, they simultaneously grow the mountain's profile. A few years back, the resort joined the Mountain Collective. Last October, it joined Ikon. And, kaboom: no more secret at the end of the road. That's a good thing. If these BC giants are to thrive, they're going to need help outside the province, which hosts a population of approximately 5 million in an area the size of California (39 million residents), Colorado (5.8 million), and Utah (3.4 million) combined. That means bringing skiers burned out on Summit County and Wasatch liftlines across the border, where big ski resorts continue to get bigger and the liftlines rarely form (outside of the West Coast).I don't want to overstate the scale of what's happening in BC – certainly big projects still can and do happen in America. And even as they grow fat by North American standards, most of the province's biggest ski areas still look like birdbaths compared to the ski circuses of Europe. But imagine if, over the next 30 years, 480-acre Ski Cooper transformed into 5,317-acre Vail Mountain. That is essentially what's happened at Sun Peaks since 1993, where a small community bump evolved into an international destination resort 10 times its original size. And they're nowhere near finished – Sun Peaks' masterplan (pg. 141), outlines a monster facility at full build-out:The Mountain Master Plan … will ultimately include a total of 26 ski lifts, including one pulse gondola, one 10G/8C Combi lift one detachable grip six-passenger chairlift, four detachable quadruple chairlifts, nine fixed grip quadruple chairlifts, four platter lifts and approximately two beginner moving carpet lifts, with a total combined rated capacity of about 41,186 passengers per hour … The overall Phase 4 [Skier Comfortable Carrying Capacity] will be approximately 14,830 skiers per day. … there will be 225 trails providing 177.5 kilometers of skiing on [1,895 acres] of terrain. Here's a conceptual map of Sun Peaks at full build-out:While plenty of BC ski areas have evolved over the past several decades, no one has accomplished the trick more steadily or with such deliberate, constant momentum as Sun Peaks. It was time to check in to see how they'd done it, and what was going to happen next. What I got wrongAs is my habit, I introduced Sun Peaks as defined by our U.S. American measurement system of feet and acres. Which is not that unusual – this is a U.S. American-based podcast. However, as a courtesy to my Canadian guests, listeners, and readers, I should have also offered the equivalent measurements in meters. Only I am a dumb U.S. American so I don't actually know how to do these conversions. Sorry about that. Why you should ski Sun PeaksThe Ikon Pass is an incredible thing. Purchase one in the spring and spend the following winter bouncing across the snowy horizons. Hit half a dozen of the continent's greatest resorts in Utah, big-mountain hop in Colorado, spend a week in Tahoe or skimming between peaks at Big Sky. Or go to Canada – 10 Ikon destinations sit in the northland, and seven of them crouch in a neat circle straddling BC and Alberta: Norquay, Lake Louise, Sunshine, Panorama, Red, Sun Peaks, and Revelstoke:You could complete that circle in around 17 hours of driving. Which is not much if you're rolling through a two-week roadie and spending two or three days at each resort. Some of them could occupy far more time. Sun Peaks can eat up a week pretty easily. But for the resort-hoppers among us, an Ikon or Mountain Collective pass includes days at Canada's second-largest ski area on its ready-to-eat buffet. Here's a look at every Canadian ski area that participates in a U.S.-based megapass:So the first reason to ski Sun Peaks is that you probably already have access to it. But there's something else – you can just go there and ski. As much as I love the ski resorts of Colorado and Utah, they are just too easy to access for too many people. That's great, but skiing in those powder holes requires a certain patience, an expectation of some kind of madness, a willingness to tweak the algorithm to see what combination of snowfall, open terrain, day of the week, and time of day yields the most open path between you and turns. That calculus is a little easier at Sun Peaks: just show up whenever you want and start skiing. Outside of Whistler, the big-mountain resorts of BC resemble the big-mountain resorts of the American West 40 years ago. Endless labyrinths of untamed terrain, no one to race off the ropeline. BC's collective ski resorts have evolved much faster than the market's realization that there is another set of Rocky Mountain resorts stacked on top of the Rocky Mountain resorts of U.S. America. That's a lot of terrain to roam. And all you need is a passport. Go get it.Podcast NotesOn building an alternate route into Sun Peaks from the eastMost visitors to Sun Peaks are going to spend some time traveling to the resort along the Trans-Canada Highway. Eastbound travelers will simply turn north at Kamloops and then right at Heffley Creek. Westbound travelers pass within five miles of the resort's southeast edge as they drive through Chase, but must continue toward Kamloops before turning toward Sun Peaks – nearly an hour and a half on clear roads. There is a mountain road, unpaved and impassable in wintertime (marked in yellow below), and long-simmering plans for an alternate, less death-defying paved path that could be open year-round (market in blue below). Alexander and I discussed this road, and he seemed optimistic that it will, eventually, get built. Given Sun Peaks' record of actualizing the improbable, I share his outlook. Here's a map of the whole mess:On Nippon Cable and WhistlerWhile Sun Peaks presents as an independent ski area, it is in fact part of a Japan-based conglomerate called Nippon Cable. This is primarily a lift manufacturer, but Nippon also owns a number of ski areas in Japan and 25 percent of Whistler (seriously). Read more about their properties here.On Big Bam ski areaAlexander mentions Big Bam ski area, which sits along the Pine River just west of the Alaska Highway and south of Fort St. John. Here's a homemade trailmap that someone codenamed “Skier72” posted on skimap.org, with the caption, “Approx. Trails at Big Bam. Made with Google Earth. Top lift is future quad chair, bottom lift is rope tow”:Big Bam is a volunteer-run, weekends-only organization with 180 feet of vert. You can follow them on Facebook (their last Instapost was in 2014). Alexander mentioned that the ski area had moved from its original location, though I couldn't find any information on the old hill. The place has had a rough go – it re-opened (I believe in the current location), in 2009, and was closed from 2016 to 2019 before turning the lifts on again. They seem desperate for a chairlift. If anyone knows more about the Big Bam story, please let me know.On Sun Peaks spare lift fleetAlexander notes that Sun Peaks “might have the least number of lifts for a resort of our size” on the continent. Indeed, the ski area has the third-fewest number of lifts among North America's 10 largest ski areas:On the Burfield chairliftStow this one for ski club trivia night: Sun Peaks is home to what is very likely the longest fixed-grip chairlift in the world. The Burfield quad rises 2,890 vertical feet on a 9,510-foot-long line. According to Lift Blog, ride time is 21 minutes, and the carriers are 115 feet apart. The lift's hourly capacity is just 470 riders – compare that to the Crystal fixed-grip quad right beside it, which can move up to 2,400 skiers per hour. The Storm Skiing Journal and Podcast explores the world of lift-served skiing year-round. If I'm in the ‘Christmas Spirit', that is.” The expression on his face suddenly became desperate and tears filled his eyes. I could easily prove that and put him in jail.“I stopped for gas and Santa hunting all along the Alaska Highway.

If I'm in the ‘Christmas Spirit', that is.” The expression on his face suddenly became desperate and tears filled his eyes. I could easily prove that and put him in jail.“I stopped for gas and Santa hunting all along the Alaska Highway.
On July 22nd, 2019 a Canadian officer was driving around on his normal patrol route when up ahead of him he saw a truck run a red light at an intersection. The officer quickly flashed his lights and signaled to the trucks driver to pullover. Inside were two young men who appeared to be in their late teens. They looked nervous and scared. He told them he'd watched them run a red light and that they needed to be more careful. The teens just nodded in agreement and apologized, still frightened. Wondering why the boys seemed so unnerved, The officer decided to search the boys vehicle, but didn't find anything suspicious. The only items in the back were survival gear and maps, pretty common belongings for people driving in that area who liked to hike or camp in the wilderness. Realizing he had nothing to keep them further, The officer told the boys to be more careful driving and sent them on their way. As he watched them drive off he had no idea he was letting two killers go free. The Alaska Highway was born to be a military supply route but it grew up to be a story-teller. This unforeseen attribute – like an E-ticket ride at Disneyland – had us riveted from Mile-0. Built for war, this 1,187 mile (1,910 km) road opened to the public in 1948. Since then, driving to Alaska is a surefire epochal adventure for any traveller who is up for a dense narrative with beaucoup twists and turns. Every overlander comes away with a unique life-altering experience, but not always the one they intended. #020 - Memoirs of a 10 year old Donna Clayson. Moving from Dawson Creek to Haines Junction in the mid 60sTravel in the Yukon in the 21st century is literally a breeze compared to the earlier modes of transportation. Waterways, wagon roads, horse trails, and traditional foot roots all paved the way towards the comforts we enjoy today, and eventually train routes, roads and air travel developed over the years making our lives much easier in the North .Anyone who's left the familiarity of their home town and travelled a thousand miles of dusty Alaska Highway in the 1960's would certainly have some distinct memories from this experience. Back in these days, keeping a personal diary was encouraged and keeping daily notes of the scenery, flora and fauna, along with the interactions with others along the way was common place at the end of the day. It's through reflecting upon this notes after the fact that writers have years worth of interesting facts and and characters from which to draw upon for their own literary works. Today's guest has done exactly that. As a young girl at the impressionable age of 10, her mother whisked her away from the familiarity of her home in Dawson Creek and drove north on the newly constructed Alaska highway to the tiny community of Haines Junction, Yukon. It was durning this arduous 1500 km journey that Donna Clayson began to realize that the place she was fighting so hard to not accept as her new home, completely enamoured her with its majestic mountains and authentic beauty. In today's podcast, Donna reflects on her journey to the Yukon through her 10 year old eyes and the litany of emotions and thoughts journaled in one of her earliest writings. As 19th century historian John Wade would say..."the rest is history". #018 – Exploring the North with ExploreNorth.com founder, Murray Lundberg In today's interview with Murray Lundberg, we discuss the adventures, challenges, and changes in researching and presenting the fascinating history of the Yukon. We discuss how social media, WYSIWYG website development, PDF books and the ever changing Internet has been both a challenge and a blessing to this entrepreneurial historian, writer, photographer and presenter. Murray was one of the first on the scene in the mid 90's recording the Yukon's rich history when websites were written in HTML code and cameras still used film and online courses were not even an option. His progressive mindset and commitment to staying abreast of technological advances continues to serve him well as he wears multiple hats when it comes to being the "jack of all trades" in the history preservation/presentation arena. From his humble and curious beginnings as both a tourist and tour bus driver, he continues to expand his wide breadth of Yukon history in real time by connecting with thousands of people each day through his Yukon History & Abandoned Places facebook group and ExploreNorth.com websites. The growth of his social media sites has been the inspiration needed for him to re-commit to completing several books that have been " on the list " for some time. He's zealously working towards getting them out the door and into the hands of local tourists visiting Carcross as well as through Internet sales. His first book, Fractured Veins and Broken Dreams, features the Montana Mountain mining activity in the early 1900's and he's currently working on another titled "The Alaska Highway". Scary Mysteries of the Month – January 2020 Scary Mysteries of the Month is a compilation of the weird, disturbed, frightening and downright baffling stories of the month. From UFOs, serial killers, ancient sites, mysterious creatures, and even ghosts – these are your Scary Mysteries for January. 5. Pig Monkey Hybrid China is home to the weird and fabulous, so it almost comes as no surprise when they announced late 2019 they finally created a pig monkey creature. You might think how bizarre it is for scientists to especially choose a pig and monkey hybrid to create, but there’s a purpose for it. Scientists created this animal hybrid because of the possibility they could one day pave the way for human organs to be grown by animals. 4. Alaska Man Escapes Canadian Killers Eager to get home, in July 2019, Ken Albertsen had driven 15 hours in a single day. He was tired and exhausted after having gone on a family trip to Montana and was eager to get home in Alaska. He needed to rest so the 54-year old pulled over on the side of the Alaska Highway in Yukon, just 100 kilometers from the north border of British Columbia. 3 Ghost on Scotter Road She’s described as a tall ghost wearing a fancy dress who is seen haunting a portion of Scotter Road, Scunthorpe, England. For years, many have reported seeing this ghost walking on a section of road close to the viaducts in the industrial town of Lincolnshire. Because of its notoriety, it’s now dubbed as The Scotter Road Specter. 2. Missing Oregon Girl Twenty-year-old Allyson Watterson from Portland, Oregon was last seen with her boyfriend, Ben Garland on December 22. Before noon on December 22nd, a homeowner from North Plains saw Watterson and Garland together in the area. Another homeowner later found Garland asleep in his truck on the 23rd and took him home. Garland headed out with his father in search of Watterson shortly after, but when they couldn’t find her, they contacted her family who then reported her missing. 1. Chad Underwood and the ‘Tic-Tac’ UFO Known online as the Tic-Tac UFO, the New York Times broke the news last year implying the U.S. Government has been tracking these unidentified flying objects for years. But the bombshell for the article was a 76-second video footage of a supposed UFO-encounter in 2004 by a U.S. Navy pilot.
The question of whether or not we should drill for oil in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most contentious public lands debates in the United States. Even though most Americans would have a hard time finding it on a map, the topic seems to ignite intense feelings in just about everyone. After 40 years of fighting, Congress voted in December 2017 to allow drilling in the refuge. As we release this, the Trump Administration says they’ll start auctioning off development rights to oil companies as soon as this winter. But opponents to drilling are trying to stop that from happening, and at this point, no one really knows how things will play out. In this episode, we take you to the refuge, track down the origin story of the conflict, and follow that conflict through the decades. Learn more about Threshold on our website. Become part of our passionate network of supporters here. This series was produced in partnership with the Pulitzer Center. Archival footage in this episode is from the documentaries Alaska Highway and Journey to Prudhoe, and from CNN, Eddy Arnold’s 1952 rendition of Smokey the Bear, PBS NewsHour, and ABC.

On July 15, a young couple, Chynna Deese from North Carolina, and Lucas Fowler from Sydney, Australia, were found dead on the Alaska Highway in northern British Columbia. Four days later, the body of 64-year-old Leonard Dyck a lecturer at the University of British Columbia, was found 475 kilometres from the first crime scene. Once believed to be missing persons, 19-year-old Kam McLeod and 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky, both from Port Alberni, B.C., are now fugitives on the run from RCMP. Guest host Trevor Robb is joined by Vancouver Sun reporter Stephanie Ip.
Canadian police urged people in a remote northern town to stay inside and lock their doors Monday as officers hunted for two teenagers who are suspects in the murder of three people in British Columbia.Police Cpl. Julie Courchaine told a news conference in Winnipeg that the agency received a tip Sunday afternoon that Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky may have been spotted in York Landing — about 55 miles (90 kilometers) from Gillam, where a vehicle that had been used by the suspects was found burned last week. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued a tweet saying "it is critical" that residents in York Landing "stay indoors as much as possible with their doors locked."The community of about 500 people is accessible only by air or a ferry, though a rail line runs about 15 miles (25 kilometers) away.Nineteen-year-old McLeod and 18-year-old Schmegelsky have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Leonard Dyck, whose body was found last week in British Columbia. They are also suspects in the fatal shootings of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese of Charlotte, North Carolina, whose bodies were found July 15 along the Alaska Highway about 500 kilometers (300 miles) from Dyck's killing. The RCMP Manitoba said the Royal Canadian Air Force was assisting with the search.Police earlier had been searching further east in the town of Gillam, aided by tracking dogs and drones.Meanwhile, the father of one of the suspects has sent a book to reporters describing his mental health, harassment convictions involving his ex-wife and his relationship with his fugitive son.Alan Schmegelsky said the book titled "Red Flagged" is a novelization of actual events and fictionalizes some incidents. He said he sent the book to reporters to highlight how a "broken system" has shaped him and his son."My son and I have been treated like footballs. It's time for some truth," he said.He writes that he was arrested by Victoria police on Aug. 4, 2008, his son Bryer's eighth birthday, three years after his acrimonious split with the boy's mother.Court records show he was charged with criminal harassment in December 2008. He was found guilty of the lesser offence of disobeying a court order. He returned to court numerous times over the next decade on charges of harassment and breach of probation.Schmegelsky says he does not currently have a permanent residence and has been homeless for about two years, staying primarily in Victoria. He has said that he did not see his son between the ages of 8 and 16, at which age his son briefly lived with him in Victoria and they worked in construction together for a summer. He showed The Canadian Press recent photos and videos of his son on his phone.
BC RCMP say they share the public's concern after some grim mysteries these past few weeks. RCMP are looking for a bearded man who they say had been seen talking to one of the victims of a double murder. Investigators announced yesterday that 23-year-old Lucas Fowler, and his 24-year-old girlfriend Chynna (CHINA) Deese, had been shot dead on the Alaska Highway. Police are also investigating the death of another man in northern BC, and two missing young teenage men. As we've been telling you, this story has been receiving international attention, with news crews from Australia travelling to Northern BC to report on the story. Do you want to know how to recognize Bees in your garden and neighborhood? Do you want to plant flowers that will invite more bees to your garden? I’m super excited because for Earth Week, it’s April 27,2019. I have the Assistant Professor Pollinator Health Extension from the Department of Horticulture | Oregon State University, Dr. Andony Melathopoulos from the Pollination Podcast! (http://blogs.oregonstate.edu/pollinationpodcast/) (http://blogs.oregonstate.edu/pollinationpodcast/) Oh there’s more then one bee?! When I do master gardener training is I help people identify 5 bees that are in North America. When you garden for bees it gets kind of complicated. If you can identify these 5 bees then you can go visit a neighbor’s garden and say oh! I see that bee on this plant. Rick and I are driving up the Alaska Highway. Join us for hour eight of our drive while we kill some time and make a podcast. In this episode we chat about the logistics of trip planning, picking your hunting partners, and the technical information that is available these days for hunt planning.
Kathy was raised in a remote village on the Alaska Highway in northern BC, but wanderlust has taken her far from her roots. She's always loved telling tales. One day she stumbled upon the world of traditional storytelling, and she was hooked! Since then, Kathy's performed original stories and world folktales in schools, libraries, concerts and festivals across Canada and internationally. Highlights include the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, a Nordic storytelling conference in Iceland, and most recently- sharing tales with school children in South Africa. Her stories have been published in various venues, and included on several CD anthologies. In this podcast, we discuss growing up on the Alaskan Highway, Kathy's family's roots in the area, her father memories and work on the Alaskan Highway, and we focus on her upcoming storytelling show the “Alaskan Highway Road Show” celebrating the 75th anniversary of the highway.
The Alaska Highway (also known as the Alaskan Highway, Alaska-Canadian Highway, or ALCAN Highway) was constructed during World War II for the purpose of connecting the contiguous United States to Alaska through Canada. It begins at the junction with several Canadian highways in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and runs to Delta Junction, Alaska, via Whitehorse, Yukon. Completed in 1942 at a length of approximately 1,700 miles (2,700 km), as of 2012 it is 1,387 mi (2,232 km) long. The difference in distance is due to constant reconstruction of the highway, which has rerouted and straightened out numerous sections. The highway was opened to the public in 1948. Legendary over many decades for being a rough, challenging drive, the highway is now paved over its entire length. An informal system of historic mileposts developed over the years to denote major stopping points; Delta Junction, at the end of the highway, makes reference to its location at "Historic Milepost 1422." It is at this point that the Alaska Highway meets the Richardson Highway, which continues 96 mi (155 km) to the city of Fairbanks. This is often regarded, though unofficially, as the northern portion of the Alaska Highway, with Fairbanks at Historic Milepost 1520. Mileposts on this stretch of highway are measured from Valdez, rather than the Alaska Highway. The Alaska Highway is popularly (but unofficially) considered part of the Pan-American Highway, which extends south (despite its discontinuity in Panama) to Argentina. Meet Emily Chappell, a hero of mine. A reformed London cycle courier, she’s cycled from Wales to Japan, from Anchorage to Seattle in the depth of winter and raced across Europe on the gruelling Transcontinental Race. On Thursday 3 March 2016 I took her for lunch - excuse the background noise - and we talked about the joys and perceived pitfalls of riding long distances alone, ice lollies versus ice cream and how riding the Alaska Highway is actually easier than a winters day in the United Kingdom. In this episode of the Roadtreking RV Podcast we answer some questions from listeners who want to embrace the RV lifestyle but have concerns because they are not mechanically inclined or good at "fixing stuff." They wonder if they'll be able to cut it as an RV owner. I do my best to assure them, with Jennifer chiming in. Bottom line is if I can do it, they can. I am not a Mr. Fix it. We share the tips and suggestions needed that will let anyone take to the road in an RV confident that, whatever comes up, they can handle it. And no, you do not have to roll up your sleeves and do-it-yourself. Help, we assure everyone, is easy to find, as we share our experiences. [spp-player] Complete Shownotes for Episode 74 of the Roadtreking RV Podcast As Jennifer joins me, we update the audience of our whereabouts and our rough travel plans for 2016, both confessing that we have a bit of cabin fever and are soon planning to hit the road.[spp-timestamp time="2:30"] JENNIFER'S TIP OF THE WEEK Let's face it, sometimes those long drives in our RV to get to all those great places out there can be…. Well, a pain in the…. Glutes. [spp-timestamp time="4:30"] Both Mike and I have had it. And while our Roadtrek seats are very comfy and have great lumbar support, all that sitting puts a lot of pressure on your butt and the back of your thighs. We've seen comfort pads and padded cushions sold at truck stops and online but we were looking for something more ergonomically designed. And that took us to a store near our house called Relax the Back. Actually, there are about 100 of these around the U.S. and each one specializes in products aimed at people seeking relief and prevention of back and neck pain. It was there that we found the Travel Lite Cushion by Lifeform, a seat cushion made with pressure sensitive memory foam that conforms to your body and then regains its shape when not in use. The sales person at the store took it out to the parking lot so we could try it in our Roadtrek. He explained that it is desiged to help correct our pelvic angle and sitting posture while maintaining the natural curve of the spine. By reducing pressure to the glues and the back of the thighs, it helps improve circulation to the legs and feet. We couldn't be happier with these cushions. We carry it between our RV and our personal car and I even bring it in the house and pur it on my office chair when we're home. They are exclusive to the Relax Your Back stores and cost $145 each. That's a lot but we think they are really worth it. Oh yeah, one other related tip we picked up from our Relax the Back store consultant that is for you men. And this tip is free: Don't sit on your billfold. Do not keep your billfold in your back pocket while you drive. Even if you have one of these skinny billfolds like Mike has, siting on it makes an unnatural tilt and that will always result in back pain after a long drive. LISTENER QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK Two of our listeners have questions this week that expressed their eagerness to hit the road in an RV but were worried at their lack of mechanical skills. Listener Brian is a Texas attorney about to retire and hit the road in a Class B campervan. But he worries that his lack of fix it skills will leave him in a bind. [spp-timestamp time="10:00"] A listener asks about traveling to Alaska in an RV and seeks advice on what to see and where to go. Mike refers her to the Alaska Tourism office and their excellent book Milepost 2016, which details literally every single mile of the Alaska Highway. [spp-timestamp time="18:35"] And Listener Dan, whose looking to buy used class B, also has concern's about not being good at fixing things and wants to know where he can find one for about $30K. Mike and Jennifer suggest he try Roadtrek International or RV Trader for used RVs, besides calling various Class B dealers around the country and ask them. Jennifer warns him that because they are in such high demand,
In this episode of the Roadtreking RV Podcast, we learn from an expert how RV travel does not have to break the bank. They don't call Marianne Edwards the Frugal RVer for nothing - after all, she's been out on her latest trip since January and has only spent about $150 on camping fees over the past five months. Most nights, she camps free. That doesn't include other things like gas, supplies, food, etc., but still, it's pretty impressive and besides... Marianne, of the Frugal RV Travel and Boondockers Welcome blog and websites, has some great ideas about cutting costs on all of those things, too! And so will you after listening to this episode, as Marianne guides us toward finding affordable adventure and fun and the wide open spaces that most RVers miss. Among other things, Mike and Marianne talk about: What's more economical - long trips or short trips? What is boondocking? What do you really need to boondock? What is the boondocking RV lifestyle and why is it so appealing to so many?" Who would NOT be suited to boondocking? How do you find boondocking spots?" What is the best way to save money while traveling in an RV? How to boondock safely What is a "Shunpiker" and why you should be one? Also in this episode we have news and info about Walmart parking lot safety, composting toilets, Alaskan travel and advice for traveling with pets. [spp-player] Complete shownotes for episode 34 of the Roadtreking RV Lifestyle podcast: First Things First: It's a Dog's (RV) Life - How We Travel With Our Dog, Tai Roadtreking reader Lee asks how we manage our dog Tai when traveling. Jennifer shares how we help Tai deal with some of his doggie anxieties and other accommodations made to keep the 11-year-old Norweigian Elkhound happy while RVing. We also talk about dog-unfriendly parks and how we keep tabs on Tai when he's in the RV and we are out to dinner or touring a museum. Listener Question: What Do I Need to Know About RVing to Alaska? Click on this pic for Roadtreking's Alaska travel tips! Roadtreking reader Cristian from Seattle is headed to Alaska and wants information about proper preparation for the trip, especially when it comes to tires. Also, he wants info on a center screen door for his RV. Mike notes that the Alaskan Highway is in excellent shape and no special tires are needed for summer travel. He and Jennifer share their Alaska travel experience and this link - Alaska Highway info http://blog.alaskatravel.com/tips-for-driving-the-alaska-highway. Regarding the composting toilets, Mike has one main thought: forget about it because they are not not nearly as convenient as makers claim.
