In this episode, John Dyer and I explore the insights gleaned from Dr. W. Edwards Deming's "Red Bead Experiment," the efficacy of hands-on visual teaching, and insights from "The Leadership Experiment." What You'll Learn: Dr. W. Edwards Deming performed the "Red Bead Experiment" in many of his classes. What were some of the lessons he was trying to share with his audience? What is the power behind using a hands-on, visual teaching technique, such as the Red Beads, to teach a difficult lesson? I understand that you have been developing an activity called "The Leadership Experiment." Can you describe what this activity is all about? What are some of the lessons learned? Can you share with our audience an idea you are working on regarding a Lean, team based process improvement competition that we may try and implement in 2024? About the Guest: John Dyer is an author, coach, and trainer with 39 years of experience in the field of improving processes. His recently published book “the Façade of Excellence; Defining a New Normal of Leadership” examines the four leadership styles required to move an organization's culture to one of trust, collaboration, and teamwork. John started his career with General Electric and then worked his way up to a Corporate V.P. of Global Improvement at Ingersoll-Rand before starting his own consulting company. He has had the opportunity to study with several leaders in the continuous improvement field such as Dr. W. Edwards Deming, Brian Joiner, and Stephen Covey. Welcome to Weapons of Social Seduction. Today, Dr. Snyder is going to talk about the Psychological Tricks for Bulletproof Charisma. He will be sharing powerful technique such as the Echo Technique and Irresistible Hypnotic Influence. Stay Tuned! Standout Quotes: You are hardwired to be suggestible to authority. When human beings are confronted with authority of any kind, they are hardwired to become progressively more suggestible and or compliant. The more uncompliant or lack of compliance you generate, the more antisocial people tend to be. If you can exert authority in someone's world, they will comply. But if you do it with brute force, they will find a way to make you pay for it. They will find a way to get payback. Every human being on the planet wants to be validated. They want to feel worthy, attracted, appreciated, or attractive. Attractivity can create compliance through a desire to please. Key Takeaways: People are genetically and evolutionarily suggestible to authority. Whenever people are confronted with any kind of authority, they become compliant. If they are not compliant, then they become antisocial. People will comply if you exert authority to them. But do not forcefully exert authority to them because they will respond in an aggressive or defensive way. Authority is the king of hypnotic operators. People will comply even when they do not want to. The moment we view somebody as attractive, our brain cells tend to check out. We tend to do things to try and please that person to get them to like us. This is because we want to feel appreciated and be validated. Welcome to Weapons of Social Seduction. Dr. Snyder is going to share the Secrets of Killer Influence and the Secret Human Passcode to Controlling and Influencing the Minds and Emotions of other People. Stay tuned to learn more! Standout Quotes: People need to feel heard. They need to feel like they have an ally. They need to feel that the person they're communicating with gets them but need to need to bring them they feel more like you and you they feel like you're more like them. The most powerful and compelling reason a person can have for doing something they don't want to do is their own. Understand that the rationale that a person is forced to defend becomes stronger. Key Takeaways: As human beings, we bond with people who are like us. This is because we want to feel that we are heard, that we are understood by the person we are communicating with. So with the Echo Technique, we can use it to get other people to like us and pay more attention to us. The only reason that a person is doing something he or she doesn't want to is because of her or his own. As that person keeps doing something they don't want to, the rationale that they are forced to defend becomes stronger. When your house burns down, a firefighter might put out the fire. But who picks up the pieces? Dr. Patrick Flynn often uses this analogy in his practices – he refers to himself as a “carpenter doctor” – defining himself and his mission by resolving health issues instead of throwing pills at every patient. Dr. Patrick Flynn, DC is the founder of The Wellness Way Clinics. He has attended numerous colleges and taken countless classes from prestigious learning institutions including Palmer College of Chiropractic, National Health Sciences, and the Harvard Medical School HMX fundamentals online certificate program in immunology, all of which have honed his focus on hormones and the immune system. As if that wasn't enough, Dr. Flynn is the bestselling author of the book, I Disagree. His wildly popular public seminar, The Hormone Connection, has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people. He has trained thousands of doctors and his network is now comprised of over 80 clinics around the world. Learn Dr. Flynn's opinion on the COVID vaccine, explore the hormonal differences between men and women (and why we've been looking at estrogen all wrong), and how we should be finding medical professionals that build us up – not just put out our fires. Dr. Shefali explains that her primary entry point into the world of connecting with and teaching parenting is through her desire to expand the consciousness of each person. She explains that because the beginning stages of parenting so often create a willingness to make sacrifices on behalf of the parent, she realized that people were more amenable to “great spiritual change.” She frames consciousness as an act of introspection whereby each of us may learn how to challenge the “lies” that culture has told us about who and how we need to be. Culture while necessary, inevitably wounds people because the nature of culture is bi-polar, while it provides guidance by which we can connect to the world, it also limits our capacity to come to know ourselves. We are each called to both learn to be in the world and then to also see through the guises presented by the culture of fear and control that are interwoven within the nature of culture. To achieve this, the threshold through which we must all pass is marked by the feeling of our vulnerability and how the common refrain of “this is hard' is the precise moment we need to be most fully engaged. We are asking ourselves not to feel pain, but are entirely aware that in each of our lives pain is correlated with our personal growth. Dr. Shefali is asked what it means when we parents desire for our kids to be “successful and happy”? Learn Dr. Shefali's insight into this and other questions about parenting. Her core approach is that while the act of parents “turning the spotlight” away from our kids and onto ourselves is a scary experience, it is also an expanding one, with the consequence of the entire family feeling more abundant and more free to be the unique being each member of the family was created to be. Oprah has endorsed Shefali's work as revolutionary and life-changing. Dr. Shefali Tsabary's ground-breaking approach to parenting has taken her books to the top of The NY Times best-sellers list. Her blend of clinical psychology and eastern mindfulness sets her apart as a leader in the field of mindfulness psychology. As an international speaker, she speaks at events around the globe, spreading her message of conscious parenting and mindful living. She also has a private practice where she consults with families and couples. Shefali received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, New York. Dr. Tsabary was exposed to Eastern mindfulness at an early age and integrates its teachings with Western psychology. Blending East and West, she lectures extensively on mindful living and conscious parenting around the world and is in private practice. Dr. Shefali is a keynote speaker who presents at conferences and workshops around the world. Some of the venues at which Dr. Shefali has presented are: Wisdom 2.0, TEDx, Kellogg Business School, The Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education, and many more. She has had key collaborations with Goldie Hawn's MindUp Foundation, Kids in the House and many educational and transformational centers around the world. She also has a private practice where she consults with families and couples.
