Come, Follow Me with FAIR – Christmas – Part 2 – Autumn Dickson

Jesus' Lineage; Our Lineage by Autumn Dickson I opened up the New Testament this week to study the birth of Christ. I ended up down a bit of a rabbit hole, and I'm going to take you to part of it with me. My rabbit hole took me all over the place, but I'm going to try and simplify it into some basic ideas. It's going to be very technical at first and there are some nice enough implications, but then I want to more broadly apply it to the rest of us. The thing that really got me started down this rabbit hole is the fact that the very first verses we read in the New Testament are the lineage of Joseph. Funny enough, I had never noticed it consciously before because I usually just skip over that part. As I thought about it a bit further, I realized that it was odd. Why are we sharing Joseph's lineage when Jesus isn't of that lineage? Wouldn't it be more effective and helpful to share Mary's lineage (Yes, I know that wasn't the tradition then; it just seems like it would make more sense considering the fact that she's his biological mother). I then learned that many biblical scholars believe that we do have Christ's lineage through Mary. In Luke's account, we receive another account of lineage. This listed lineage lists Joseph, but scholars believe that it's Mary's line anyway. It just mentioned Joseph because of social norms. There are some other theories surrounding Luke's account of lineage, but the most widespread theory is that it really is Mary's line. We're going to go with that theory for all intents and purposes in this particular post. Why is lineage important? Well, it's important for a few reasons. We'll talk about its significance in the life of Christ, and then we'll talk about its significance in our own lives. It had been prophesied that Christ would come off of the Davidic line. Beyond that, He wasn't going to be just some random descendant but heir to the throne (if the Romans hadn't been in charge at the time). Christ's lineage through Mary and Joseph was really important for this particular prophecy. Christ comes off of the Davidic line biologically through Mary. This biological portion of being from the Davidic line is important for obvious reasons. However, Joseph's line is important too. Through Joseph, Christ is able to be known as an heir to the throne of David because that kind of thing always legally passed through males. I spent some time learning about Jewish customs and laws surrounding adoption, and I'll give you a couple of short facts. There wasn't much of a legal proceeding with official records and paperwork when it came to adoption. Rather, if a man stepped up to the role of father in a child's life, that child was legally adopted. If the father treated the child as his own, then the child held claim to everything that the other children held claim to. Inheritances, the family name, all of it. This was actually really important in a society where it mattered who your family was. Christ was of the Davidic line in all the ways that mattered. And this is absolutely amazing. It's cool to think about how God orchestrated every single detail to come together for Christ to fulfill prophecy. It's amazing. Even with His human side coming through His mother, He was still legally adopted and considered an heir through Joseph's line. But I actually want to take this further to allusions surrounding our own heritage, inheritances, and legality in terms of God's family. Like Christ, there are two parts that play into our inheritance. Biologically (not sure if that's the right word but we're going to run with it because I don't have a better word), we are spirit sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. Because of our divine parentage, we were always meant to inherit a throne. It's within our “blood,” so to speak. But there's another portion of this. Through divine authority known as the priesthood, we are “legally” adopted into the family of God. There are three parts to this next thing I was to talk about. Christ could have stepped into His kingship if the Jews had been RIGHTEOUS enough to hold on to their kingdom. Joseph SACRIFICED and LEGALLY ADOPTED Christ and because of that, Christ would have been able to step into His kingship. If Israel had been righteous, Christ would have been king. If we are RIGHTEOUS and lay claim upon Christ's power to LEGALLY ADOPT us into the House of Israel, the because of Christ's SACRIFICE, we are to be divine heirs. As another detail in inheritance that is rich in meaning, primogeniture (firstborn son's claim to the throne over other children) was overwhelmingly common but not the absolute rule. Through wickedness or directly through the decisions of God, the older could be deemed unfit to inherit such power. Heavenly Father truly is the Master. All of the details are laid out so beautifully. There are a million parallels in the gospel that add layer upon rich layer to our understanding. I testify that God is in the details. The more I learn about the gospel, the more I am filled with a sense of awe at all of His orchestration. I testify that we come from a divine family, and I testify that Christ made a sacrifice and gave us the power we needed to adopt us into His family as well. All of these combine to an astounding truth; we have been set up to be heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, to inherit a divine throne. There is so much we were born into. God has so much in store for us. Autumn Dickson was born and raised in a small town in Texas. She served a mission in the Indianapolis Indiana mission. She studied elementary education but has found a particular passion in teaching the gospel. Her desire for her content is to inspire people to feel confident, peaceful, and joyful about their relationship with Jesus Christ and to allow that relationship to touch every aspect of their lives. Autumn was the recipient of FAIR's 2024 John Taylor Defender of the Faith Award. The post Come, Follow Me with FAIR – Christmas – Part 2 – Autumn Dickson appeared first on FAIR.

Lee Strobel is an American Christian author, apologist, speaker, and former investigative journalist who transitioned from an atheist investigative journalist into a leading Christian apologist and author, blending rigorous investigative methods with his faith journey to influence millions worldwide. Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Strobel earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School; growing up in a nominally Christian but non-practicing household, he became a committed atheist who viewed Christianity as irrational until 1979, when his wife Leslie's conversion prompted a nearly two-year personal investigation into the historical evidence for Jesus. On November 8, 1981, at age 29, Strobel became a Christian, an experience he describes as “falling in love with Jesus” while interviewing scholars and examining ancient manuscripts. A 14-year veteran of The Chicago Tribune where he served as award-winning legal editor, Strobel earned Illinois' highest honors for investigative reporting and public service journalism from United Press International before pivoting full-time to Christian apologetics. He is a New York Times bestselling author of over 40 books and curricula—including the seminal The Case for Christ (1998), which has sold over 5 million copies—with total sales exceeding 18 million copies translated into 40 languages. His “Case for…” series, along with titles like The Case for Faith, The Case for Miracles, and The Case for Heaven, applies courtroom-style evidence to core doctrines. Strobel, currently serves as Founding Director of the Lee Strobel Center for Evangelism and Applied Apologetics at Colorado Christian University. He is described by The Washington Post as “one of the evangelical community's most popular apologists,” he has received multiple Gold Medallion Awards and the 2023 Pillar Award for History from the Museum of the Bible. Married to Leslie since 1973, Strobel is father to daughter Alison (novelist and homeschooling expert) and son Kyle (professor of spiritual theology at Biola University's Talbot School of Theology), and he continues to equip believers worldwide with intellectual tools to defend and share their faith effectively. Episode Title: "From Carnage to Cleavage" - Planet of Fire Review PLANET OF FIRE (February-March 1984) Writer: Peter Grimwade (his final Doctor Who work) Director: Fiona Cumming (her last story, dating back to The Highlanders) Location: Lanzarote, Canary Islands - chosen after Cumming promoted it with holiday photos! THE SHOPPING LIST EPISODE: Peter Grimwade faces an enormous writing burden with his final Doctor Who script - a literal checklist: Introduce Perry, reintroduce Kamelion (and write him out), fill in Turlough's background, bring back the Master and kill him off, and oh yes, set it all in Lanzarote because we want a holiday! PERI: The accent is terrible, the acting is broad, the costumes are... strategic. But she's a complete 180 from Tegan, which makes her "a refreshing change" in Jim's words. Also: Why does Fiona Cumming, a female director, go along with the obvious cheesecake shots? THE QUESTION: Why was Turlough sent to Earth instead of being on the ship with the others? THE DEATH: The Doctor hesitates as the Master burns in the flames. Both hosts question whether he could've saved him (echoing the Davros dilemma from Resurrection). KAMELION'S END: The prop finally works by having Kamelion transform into Howard (Perry's stepfather) and then the Master. Jim asks the obvious: "Why didn't they just do that all along?" THE PSYCHOLOGICAL WOUND THEORY: Jim theorizes that while previous Doctors showed physical deterioration before regeneration, Davison is being psychologically and mentally wounded - all the ethical dilemmas (Davros, the Master, Kameleon) are wearing him down, setting up the regeneration. LOCATION WORK: Both hosts praise the Lanzarote filming and volcanic landscapes doubling for Sarn. Jim wanted more of the shipwreck dive sequences. The café scene where the Doctor leaves alien money behind stands out as atypical behavior. THE SOPHIE ALDRED ACE PODCAST UPDATE: John reports the interviews barely discuss Doctor Who - Sylvester McCoy talks about pissing off Richard Burton and friendship with Ian McKellen; Katy Manning discusses life philosophy ("Every day is a blessing"). The hosts approve: "We've heard all the Doctor Who stuff for years!" NEXT TIME: The Caves of Androzani - "Once daily Androzani! Major and minor!" I hope you enjoy it. In this podcast, you'll learn the first Hermetic Principle, Mentalism, and how your mind shapes your lived reality through the meanings you assign, the attention you rehearse, and the actions you take. Chris breaks down how “raw data becomes a story, the story creates emotion, emotion pressures action, and action creates consequences,” then ties it directly to Adlerian psychology, mindset training, and practical personal responsibility. If you're into Hermetic Principles, manifestation with backbone, mental discipline, and self mastery that actually changes behavior, this episode gives you a clear framework to stop confusing interpretation with reality and start steering outcomes on purpose. You can expect concrete tools you can use immediately in relationships, work, and daily life, including widening the gap between stimulus and response, generating three plausible meanings before you react, and running an “attention audit” so you stop feeding resentment loops, doomscrolling, and negative self talk. Chris also shares a relationship repair line that turns accusation into curiosity, plus a simple morning and night practice to train your mental filter and build evidence based confidence. This is for anyone who wants stronger emotional regulation, cleaner communication, better relationships, and a spiritual lens that stays grounded in standards, values, and real world results.Disclaimer: We are not professionals. The Referable Client Experience with Stacey Brown Randall   Most business owners say they want more referrals. Very few are actually drowning in them. The default strategy is to do good work, hope people notice, and maybe ask for introductions when things get slow. In this episode of Profit Answer Man, I sit down again with referral expert and author Stacey Brown Randall to talk about why that approach does not work and how to build a truly referrable client experience.   Stacey has spent years helping small business owners generate referrals without asking, without incentives, and without feeling manipulative. Her new book, The Referrable Client Experience, dives into how your day to day client journey can become your most powerful referral engine.   In This Episode, You'll Learn: Referrals, Introductions, and Word-of-Mouth Are Not the Same Thing. One of the first big shifts Stacey brings is simply defining our terms. A referral happens when a referral source connects you directly to a prospect, clearly identifies a need, and positions you as the solution. An introduction is just a connection. There is no identified need. Word-of-mouth buzz is when someone talks about you or gives out your name, but you are never actually connected. Most business owners lump all three together. The problem is that only one of them consistently leads to new clients. If all you are getting is introductions and vague "I mentioned you to someone" comments, you are not really running a referral strategy. Your Small Size Is Your Superpower. When we talk about "client experience," most people picture big company initiatives, software, and dashboards. Stacey defines client experience more simply as how your client feels while they work with you. That is where small business wins. You can: Make clients feel seen and remembered, Adjust quickly when something is off, Add personal, human touches that big companies could never scale, If you want to go from a good client experience to a referrable one, you have to understand the emotions you are creating along the way and be intentional about them. The Science Behind Why Referrals Happen. Referrals are not magic. Stacey frames them through three lenses: What happens in the brain of the referral source. When someone makes a great referral, "feel good" chemicals fire in their brain. They get to be the hero who solved a problem for someone they care about. It is about them helping the prospect, not about you. The psychology of trust. Referral sources do not need to know every credential or detail about you. What matters is that they trust you as a person and do not forget you. That trust is nurtured by consistent, human touch points, not by dumping your resume on them. Behavioral economics. Instead of manipulating reciprocity, Stacey focuses on the positive side: using surprise, delight, and variety in your touch points so people remember you and feel connected to you. Gifts, Touch Points, and What Actually Lands. Gifts can be powerful but they are often used poorly. Stacey's guidance: A gift should not be tied directly to a single referral, or you train people to expect a payout each time. For each referral source, build a plan of five to seven touch points over the year that happen whether or not referrals come in. Use gifts sparingly, and make them meaningful, humorous, or heartfelt enough to be memorable. If it took you two seconds to choose and send, it probably will not stand out. For actual referrals as they happen, Stacey recommends something simple and powerful: a handwritten thank you note. Be Strategic, Not "Spray and Pray". When owners want more referrals, they often default to more networking. More coffee dates, more events, more people. Stacey calls out the problem with this "spray and pray" approach. Instead, she encourages business owners to: Identify their ideal referral sources by asking, "Who regularly sees my ideal client before I do?" Focus on building real relationships with those few instead of trying to convert every person in the room. Accept that it is a numbers game, but a strategic one: you may meet a hundred people and end up with three or four true referral partners.   Key Takeaway: Referrals are not a mystery reserved for the lucky few. They are the predictable result of a client experience that makes people feel seen, cared for, and confident enough to put their reputation on the line for you. When you understand the science behind referrals and build a simple plan around your best referral sources, you can stop chasing cold leads and start welcoming more ideal clients who already trust you.   Bio: Stacey Brown Randall is the author of the new book, The Referable Client Experience, and the multiple award-winning book, Generating Business Referrals Without Asking. She is also the host of the Roadmap to Referrals podcast. Stacey teaches business owners how to generate referrals naturally…without manipulating, incentivizing, or even asking. She has been featured in national publications like Entrepreneur magazine, Investor Business Daily, Forbes, and more. She received her Master's in Organizational Communication and is married with three kids.   Links: Websites: https://staceybrownrandall.com/ https://referableclientexperience.com/ Social Media: www.linkedin.com/in/staceybrandall https://www.instagram.com/staceybrownrandall/ https://www.facebook.com/StaceyBrownRandall https://www.youtube.com/@referralswithoutasking   Conclusion: Referrals don't come from luck, pressure, or clever tactics—they come from the way your clients and referral sources feel throughout their experience with you. Stacey's insights remind us that when you create a journey rooted in trust, care, and thoughtful connection, referrals become a natural byproduct—not a struggle. By understanding the science behind why people refer and building a simple, intentional plan around your best referral sources, you can replace unpredictable lead generation with a reliable, relationship-driven system that grows your business sustainably and profitably.   #ProfitAnswerMan #SmallBusinessGrowth #Referrals #ClientExperience #BusinessProfit #CashFlow #TrustedAdvisor #BusinessStrategy   Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@profitanswerman Sign up to be notified when the next cohort of the Profit First Experience Course is available! Christmas is a magical, busy season of joy and celebration. It's so easy to get caught up in all the festivities and excitement that we don't pause long enough to consider what the Christmas story is actually about.  Because if you look closely, the story of Christ's birth challenges our assumptions about power, generosity, status, and what it actually means to reflect the heart of God.  The nativity isn't merely a sentimental moment; it is God intentionally choosing the margins, stepping into human vulnerability, and redefining what greatness looks like.  And if we let it, that truth forces us to ask harder questions about the way we show up for others, especially the overlooked, the lonely, and the forgotten. The first Christmas wasn't designed around abundance, convenience, or comfort. It unfolded in obscurity, among shepherds no one valued, in a manger no one wanted, to a young woman no one expected.  And the people who recognized Jesus first weren't the powerful. They were the poor, the humble, the ones most longing for God to break into their story.  Christmas, then, isn't about what we receive; it's about what we can give. How do we let the generosity of God shape the generosity we extend? Beyond celebrating Emmanuel, how do we embody Emmanuel for others?  In this episode, I'm joined by Rev. Dr. Emily Gierer, a pastor, educator, and spiritual leader who has spent nearly two decades guiding students, families, and faith communities.  Together, we explore why the true meaning of Christmas has far less to do with tradition…and far more to do with transformation.   Things You'll Learn In This Episode  God's Upside-Down Kingdom God chooses shepherds, not kings, to receive the first announcement of Christ's birth. What does that tell us about the kind of people God notices first? Generosity Was Never Meant to Be Comfortable The incarnation is the ultimate act of sacrificial giving. How does Jesus' costly example redefine the way we think about giving our time, resources, and talents? Why Loneliness Intensifies During Christmas "God with us" is not poetic language; it's God stepping into human fear, abandonment, and suffering. What would it look like to embody that same presence for someone who feels unseen this season? How to Teach Children a Different Kind of Christmas Kids are shaped more by what we model than what we say. How do families train children to value compassion over accumulation in a culture obsessed with getting?   About the Guest Rev. Dr. Emily Gierer serves as the co-Lead Pastor of St. Timothy's Church in Storrs, Connecticut, where she guides worship, preaches regularly, disciples students, and develops spiritual formation initiatives. With a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School, and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Emily has almost two decades of pastoral leadership and campus ministry experience at the University of Connecticut. In addition to her pastoral work, Emily teaches in the English Department at the University of Connecticut, offering courses in American literature, women's literature, and Biblical literature.  Together with Dr. Jana Holiday, she will also launch and co-lead Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary's new Doctor of Ministry track, Women in Leadership, beginning in July 2027. In this episode, I'm joined by two pioneers at the forefront of reshaping our understanding of human consciousness - Professor Donald Hoffman and Dr Iain McGilchrist. Despite coming from very different backgrounds, they've both arrived at surprisingly similar conclusions about some of life's biggest questions and the nature of reality. This conversation explores the parallels—and differences—in their thinking, covering topics like: — The growing scientific evidence that consciousness may be fundamental — The shockingly complex structures that physicists are now discovering beyond spacetime and what this implies — The power of silence for creating breakthroughs in scientific and creative work — The need for both a rigorous scientific and embodied approach to understanding consciousness. And more. You can dive deeper into Iain's work through his book: The Matter with Things, and Don's via his book: The Case Against Reality. — Dr Iain McGilchrist is a Psychiatrist and Writer, who lives on the Isle of Skye, off the coast of North West Scotland. He is committed to the idea that the mind and brain can be understood only by seeing them in the broadest possible context, that of the whole of our physical and spiritual existence, and of the wider human culture in which they arise – the culture which helps to mould, and in turn is moulded by, our minds and brains. He was formerly a Consultant Psychiatrist of the Bethlem Royal and Maudsley NHS Trust in London, where he was Clinical Director of their southern sector Acute Mental Health Services. Dr McGilchrist has published original research and contributed chapters to books on a wide range of subjects, as well as original articles in papers and journals, including the British Journal of Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry, The Wall Street Journal, The Sunday Telegraph and The Sunday Times. He has taken part in many radio and TV programmes, documentaries, and numerous podcasts, and interviews on YouTube, among them dialogues with Jordan Peterson, David Fuller of Rebel Wisdom, and philosopher Tim Freke. Today on the podcast, I'm joined by Alexandra Bucko, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Mineral Nutritional Balancing Practitioner who works primarily with complex and chronic illness cases.Alex specializes in hypermobility and hypermobility-related connective tissue disorders, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, POTS, autonomic dysfunction, and extreme hypersensitivities—and she brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to this work, having navigated many of these conditions herself. In this conversation, I had so many questions around the differences between connective tissue disorders, how to know if you might have one, what symptoms to look for, and how diagnosis actually works. We also talk about whether some of these patterns can improve or even reverse with the right support, and why so many people experience overlap between genetic factors, autonomic dysfunction, and sensitivity-driven symptoms. We go beyond labels and dive into practical, grounded strategies to support the body physically, structurally, and emotionally, especially for those who feel like their system is fragile, reactive, or hard to stabilize.Alex is also pursuing her medical doctorate and a Master's of Science in Human Nutrition, with completion expected in 2028 and 2027. She currently lives in Split, Croatia, and when she's not working with clients or studying, you'll find her at the beach, traveling, or enjoying good food. This episode is especially valuable if you've been trying to make sense of complex symptoms, overlapping diagnoses, or feel like your body doesn't respond to conventional approaches.Throughhealthandback.com

In this episode of The Fractional CMO Show, Casey opens up a raw coaching call with people who aren't fractional CMOs yet—but want to be. These are agency owners tired of the hamster wheel, strategists stuck doing execution, and full-time employees wondering if this fractional thing is actually real.    Casey coaches through real deals happening this week: Eric transitioning from agency to targeting private equity exits, Roxy discovering clients keep telling her she's a "really strong strategist" but she's drowning in execution, Paul pitching a $30M company, and Ernesto trying to find IVF clinic owners who want marketing leadership instead of just need it. The conversation cuts through the noise—stop pitching, stop discounting, start having curious conversations that make fractional CMO services the obvious solution. Key Topics Covered: -The 3-5 client rule: Three is ideal—more clients means mixing up names like dating multiple people at once  -Financial structure: Client pays your fee directly (~$9,700 of $10K), then separately pays for the team you build  -Luxury pricing: They should say "that makes sense" not "can you discount?"  -Warm outreach: Share your shift, ask "who should I meet?" not "will you hire me?"  -The exit conversation: Surface if they're selling in 2 years—they won't tell their team but they'll tell you  -Never pitch, discover: Ask questions until fractional CMO is obvious, then "what questions do you have?"  -Agency owners can transition without shutting down—fractional work is separate  -Discounting kills relationships: Clients who negotiate once nickel-and-dime forever  -Find people who want to grow: Show them you're the bridge—they don't need to know fractional CMO exists yet

We close out Season 8 with a very special episode that is particularly poignant in this holiday season when people of many faiths are called to reflect on our core values. We are joined by Reverend Jackson who is currently the Associate Conference Minister for Justice and Witness Ministries in the Central Atlantic Conference in the United Church of Christ. Reverend Jackson has been the pastor at the United Church of Christ of Seneca Valley in Germantown, Maryland since 2016. She earned her Master of Divinity degree in 2012 from Wesley Theological Seminary. She also holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor's in Social Relations and Public Policy from Michigan State University. In this conversation, Reverend Jackson discusses the evolving role of sanctuary churches in the context of immigration and the legal risks they face. Since the withdrawal of federal guidance designating protected locations such as churches went into effect, it is more difficult for churches to provide sanctuary for refugees at risk for being deported to dangerous and life-threatening situations. A coalition of religious organizations has since brought a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security arguing that this policy violates the right to expression of faith and freedom of religion.Reverend Jackson discusses the theological and moral imperative to support immigrants that arises from multiple biblical texts, and the calling on Christians to take risks for their faith. Reverend Jackson advocates for a proactive approach to community involvement and the need for churches to educate themselves about local laws and the realities of immigration. Churches must advocate for their rights to practice their faith without government interference. She reminds us that love for one's neighbor is a core tenant of Christian faith. The biblical texts clearly demonstrate that this imperative applies to all people around us, regardless of status.Links to organizations proving support to immigrants:https://www.ilrc.orghttps://unitedwedream.org

Procurados, Viviane Barci e o STF não se manifestaram. O caso envolvendo o Banco Master tramita no STF sob a relatoria do ministro Dias Toffoli.
