What happens when historical research uncovers a truth you are not sure you want to know? In this episode of Shifting Schools, Tricia speaks with author Christine Kuehn and her husband and research partner, Mark Schiponi, about Family of Spies: A World War II Story of Nazi Espionage, Betrayal, and the Secret History Behind Pearl Harbor. Christine's investigation began with a startling discovery: members of her family had been deeply involved with the Nazi Party, and her grandfather had been convicted for his role connected to the attack on Pearl Harbor. What followed was a 30-year search through family testimony, declassified FBI files, National Archives records, historical accounts, photographs, and long-buried memories. Christine and Mark describe the emotional strain of researching a painful family history and the many times the project was packed away because the discoveries became too difficult to face. They also explain how they compared official records with family stories, handled contradictions, organized years of handwritten notes, and decided what evidence could be trusted. The conversation also examines the craft of making history readable. Christine and Mark wanted the book to reach people who might never choose a conventional work of World War II history. They discuss weaving the past together with Christine's present-day investigation, writing nonfiction with the momentum of a novel, and removing compelling material when it no longer served the larger story. They are part of a grassroots effort to mobilize and halt the quietly announced closure of the Chicago branch of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). That memo describes the closure of NARA regional archival facilities in Chicago, Illinois and San Bruno, California, and imminent removal of archival materials from both sites. Ms. Neidhardt and Ms. Pozesky describe how under the aegis of their professional association - Chicago Area Archivists - a group of concerned citizens is pushing back, and coordinating an effort to stop the closure. by UFO History Buff & Author, Charles Lear Recently, there have been reports throughout the media that FBI files concerning a UFO sighting reported by three Anoka, Minnesota, police officers have been declassified and are available at the National Archives. Remarkably, almost none of the media outlets covering the story provide a link to the actual document with the exception one news outlet, KARE 11, which was kind enough to provide a pdf with one of the FBI documents and related material from Americans for Safe Aerospace and the National UFO Reporting Center.There is an article by Conor Wight on the CBS News site (updated May 28, 2026) headlined “Newly declassified FBI documents detail UFO sighting by Anoka officers — and one of them filmed it.” Wight is with CBS Minnesota and starts his story with this: “Buried within the National Archives is an unexplained sighting from right here in Minnesota.”Buried is an apt description, as the documents were quite hard to find in the National Archives Catalogue, but a search within “Group 16: Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Records Collection,” brought us to records from the FBI, which led us to the files related to the Anoka case, which are the top three in a series of six results. Read more →CONTACT AND SUPPORT

On Friday's Mark Levin Show, should our Constitution be gutted? DSA's Gustavo Gordillo says yes. He says the Senate is undemocratic and should be reformed or eliminated. The problem? Small states have an equal say in the Senate. The genius of the Founding Fathers was that in at least one house of a bicameral Congress, small states wouldn't be swallowed up by large states. Gustavo wants to replace this genius system with a European-style socialist parliament. He also wants to put the working class over billionaires. Isn't it funny you never hear Socialists like Gustavo talk about liberty? Marxist "working class versus billionaire class" rhetoric promotes group-based oppression narratives over freedom, individual rights, and the Declaration of Independence. These people seek to destroy the country, its way of life, political and governing systems, founding principles, and economic system—the greatest on Earth—built through countless legal, military, and political battles. Due to generosity and stupidity, including open borders and ceding colleges and universities to enemy-promoted teachings, an enemy within now acts through culture and has largely conquered the Democrat Party piece by piece. Those who love the country and want to preserve its lifestyle for children and grandchildren must wake up, listen, and pass the message on, because if more of them vote, they win. Later, China has constructed a full-scale, three-dimensional replica of a US Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in the Taklamakan Desert as a weapons testing facility to target real warships. They're not fooling around, this is serious. Afterward, it's problematic that the media dismissed President Trump's election security speech and his findings on Communist China's interference in the 2020 election. There are foreign and domestic forces seeking to destroy America, including a weak ruling class, rogue judges, and too many university faculty who indoctrinate students against America's core principles. Finally, Rep Jim Jordan calls in and explains that Special Counsel Jack Smith misled Congress by testifying that his team did not obtain the contents of communications between Trump administration officials and members of Congress. Evidence shows the National Archives, under the Biden administration, turned over unfiltered text message contents to Smith's team raising separation of powers and Speech or Debate Clause violations. Mr. Hong now lives in Pennsylvania, where he serves as executive director of Make Us Visible Pennsylvania, a group that, according to its website, supports a "nationwide initiative to update school curricula with accurate information about Asian American & Pacific Islander history and culture." Mr. Hong visited the National Archives in San Bruno, California - one of the two branches, along with Chicago, which was abruptly targeted for closure by the National Archives and Records Administration - with his father 25 years ago. Over many visits and with help from National Archives staff, they discovered priceless documents about their family history and photos of family members from as far back as the 1880s. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Rising anti-Christian incidents in Israel Anti-Christian incidents are surging in Israel this year. A report from the Religious Freedom Data Centre found there were 83 incidents of harassment during the second quarter of 2026. That's up from 44 incidents during the first quarter.  These incidents include spitting, verbal assault, threatening behavior, and physical assault. The report noted, “In recent years, these acts have increasingly taken place openly, in broad daylight.” In John 15:18, Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.” Hamas dissolved Gaza government The Islamic Resistance Movement, known as Hamas, announced the dissolution of its government in Gaza on Monday. The Islamic militant group took control of the Palestinian territory in 2007. In 2023, it led an attack on Israel. Since then, Israel and Hamas have been at war. The Trump administration has been working on a peace plan to end the conflict over the past year. Hamas is now preparing to transfer power to a committee backed by the United States.  Fewer Americans support Israel Support for Israel is declining in America. The data comes from a new Associated Press-National Opinion Research Center poll.  Forty-percent of U.S. adults say America is too supportive of Israel's conflict with the Palestinians. That's up from 37% in 2024. Along party lines, 60 percent of Republicans say the U.S. shows the right amount of support for Israel. That's up from 33 percent in 2024. Meanwhile, 58 percent of Democrats say the U.S. supports Israel too much. That's up from 45 percent in 2024. Trump: “Our founders were great, our cause was just.” U.S. President Donald Trump gave his Independence Day speech at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. last week.  President Trump celebrated America's unique freedoms on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He said, “Unlike so many others in the world, in this country we have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equal justice under the law.” Listen to more of his comments.  TRUMP: “We have thrived and flourished because our founders were great, our cause was just, our people are brave, our culture is exceptional, and our destiny is written by God. (applause) “And, as we can see here tonight, after 250 years, the spirit of 1776 still lives within us all. At 250 years old, we may be the oldest constitutional republic on Earth, but our country is just getting started, because the best is yet to come.” (applause) Psalm 67:3-4 says, “Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on Earth.” South Carolina prohibits bank discrimination against Christians The state of South Carolina will prevent banks from discriminating against people on the basis of their beliefs.  Republican Governor Henry McMaster signed the Guarantee Banking Act last week. The measure prohibits large financial institutions in the state from denying financial services to people over their religious or political beliefs.  Matt Sharp with Alliance Defending Freedom commented, “By enacting this bill, South Carolina joins Tennessee and Idaho in leading the charge to protect citizens, non-profits, religious organizations, and businesses from discriminatory debanking.” U.S. stock market surged The U.S. stock market surged during the first half of 2026. Markets grew despite war in the Middle East and oil shortages.  The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 8.9 percent this year. That's its best growth during the first half of a year since 2021. The S&P 500 climbed 9.4 percent this year, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq grew 12.5 percent.  Britain discovered rare copy of Declaration of Independence PBS reports on a rare copy of the Declaration of Independence that was discovered in the United Kingdom this year.  A volunteer at the country's National Archives was cataloguing the papers of Royal Navy captains from the American War for Independence. That's when volunteer Michael Scurr found the rare copy of the Declaration. It was one of 11 copies printed in Exeter, New Hampshire in July 1776. The copy was later seized by the British Royal Navy on Christmas Eve of the same year. It remained buried in archives until this February. Dr. Graham Moore from The National Archives said the discovery is “one of the rarest forms of the Declaration we know about.” Worldview listeners weigh in from Alaska and Kentucky Trevor Williams, age 10, in Wasilla, Alaska, wrote, “You are doing good with The Worldview in 5 Minutes. WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS  Scott Kesterson opens on the morning after the 250th with the detail history almost never tells: the beautifully engrossed parchment in the National Archives was not produced until August 2 — what circulated on July 5, 1776 was John Dunlop's broadside, printed through the night, 200 working government documents dispatched to colonial assemblies and General Washington, who received his copy on July 9, immediately ordered it read to every brigade at 6pm, and watched New York citizens tear down the gilded lead statue of King George III and melt it into 42,088 musket balls for the Continental Army. The episode then traces what July 5 actually looked like inside the room — Congress in regular session managing military correspondence, financing a war with uncertain currency, and working New York's abstention toward full unanimity — alongside what it looked like outside: loyalist families making quiet preparations to leave, Elizabeth Lewis not yet knowing that British forces would soon raid her estate, take her prisoner, deny her a bed or change of clothes, and break her health until she died in 1779, three years after her husband signed, the unmonumented human cost of a document that told every king in the world his authority had a ceiling. Back in the 1950s, facing the threat of nuclear annihilation, federal officials sat down and pondered what American life would actually look like after an atomic attack. They faced a slew of practical questions like: Who would count the dead and where would they build the refugee camps? But they faced a more spiritual question as well. If Washington DC were hit, every object in the the National Archives would be eviscerated in a moment. Terrified by this reality, they set out to save some of America's most precious stuff. In this special update episode of JFK The Enduring Secret,  Andrew Isler and Mark Adamczyk and myself  recap our recent trip to Washington, D.C., for a highly anticipated meeting with Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna. After a chaotic day of travel, we secured nearly an hour with the Congresswoman and her staff to discuss the ongoing issues and lack of compliance surrounding the 1992 JFK Records Act.The conversation highlights how we made the case for shifting the focus  from requesting specific, isolated documents to addressing the broader, systemic issues regarding the National Archives (NARA) and their compliance with the JFK Records Act.  We were delighted at Representative Luna's bias toward action on the topic; she eagerly reviewed Andrew and Mark's  prepared briefs and material that we also delivered to her on behalf of Doug Horne, highlighted critical points, and demonstrated a serious commitment to the JFK task force's transparency mission.Listeners will get an inside look at the team's key recommendations to Congress, which include requesting a Government Accountability Office (GAO) audit of the JFK records collection to establish a true, accurate inventory of what the National Archives holds. We also discuss a push for  the release of Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby's heavily guarded tax returns, and the urgent need to track down 27,000 missing legal orders previously issued by the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB). Congresswoman Luna was so receptive to the GAO audit, that she instructed her staff to draft a letter to the agency right there in the meeting.  Andrew provided them with a pre-drafted request letter to make it even easier to do. As America moves toward its 250th anniversary in 2026, many people are thinking again about the country's founding, its documents, its ideals, and the generations who carried the story forward. America250 describes July 4, 2026, as the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the National Archives is preparing its own Freedom 250 commemoration around 250 years of America and the Declaration of Independence. The Smithsonian is also marking the anniversary with programs meant to examine America's past, present, and future. Sources are listed at the end of this article. That makes this a good time to think not only about what we remember, but how we remember it. In travels around the country, it's hard not to notice that some public history has changed. In some towns, monuments have been removed. In others, signs have been replaced, plaques have disappeared, buildings have been renamed, and local displays have been rewritten. Sometimes those changes happen with public debate. Other times, they happen quietly, and only the people who pass through often notice that something is missing. People will disagree about whether each change is good, bad, needed, unfair, overdue, or unnecessary. That is part of living in a country with a long and complicated past. But one thing remains true no matter where someone stands on those debates. Removing a marker does not remove the history. A sign may come down. A statue may be moved. A display may be changed. A building may get a new name. Yet the event still happened. The person still lived. The community still existed. The letters were still written. The court files were still recorded. The newspapers still printed the story. The land records still show the owners. The pension files still tell of military service. The church registers still name the baptisms, marriages, and burials. The census still places families in a household, on a road, in a town, in a year. Public memory can change, but the past does not vanish because the public display changes. That is why America's 250th anniversary should send us back to the sources. In 1976 historian George H. Nash wrote The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America Since 1945, a celebrated historical accounting that established much of the narrative for how we think about the development of modern conservatism even today.  But much has changed since the seventies.  What can the history of conservatism tell us about this present moment, and what can it tell us about where things may be heading?  Dr. Nash joins Saving Elephants host Josh Lewis to unravel the past, present, and future of conservatism in the United States.   About George H. Nash George H. Nash is the epitome of a gentleman and a scholar.  A graduate from Amherst College who received his Ph.D. in History from Harvard University, Dr. Nash is an authority on the histories of American conservatism and the life of President Herbert Hoover.  Dr. Nash is an independent scholar, historian, and lecturer.  He speaks and writes frequently about the history and present direction of American conservatism, the life of Herbert Hoover, the legacy of Ronald Reagan, the education of the Founding Fathers, and other subjects.  His writings have appeared in the American Spectator, Claremont Review of Books, Intercollegiate Review, Modern Age, National Review, New York Times Book Review, Policy Review, University Bookman, Wall Street Journal, and many other publications.  He has lectured at the Library of Congress; the National Archives; the Herbert Hoover, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson presidential libraries; the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum; the Hoover Institution; the Heritage Foundation; the McConnell Center; and at various universities and conferences in the United States and Europe.  Several of his lectures have been featured on C-SPAN.  He has also been interviewed by C-SPAN, National Public Radio, numerous radio stations, and the print media.  Dr. Nash lives in Massachusetts.  

Next week, Andrew Iler, Mark Adamczyk, and I are heading up to Washington, D.C., to meet with Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna. Congresswoman Luna chairs the Congressional Task Force On The Declassification of Government Secrets. We have secured an opportunity  to brief her personally on critical record keeping  and oversight issues that have been festering for years.   These are issues that we  believe are core to the committee's mission when it comes to  assessing the state of JFK Records disclosure and accounting for all JFK assassination records. Perhaps, more importantly, these are  issues core to restoring the government's strict legal compliance with the JFK Records Act and public confidence in what is being shared with our citiziens. Congresswoman Luna's Task Force on the Declassification of Government Secrets is currently finalizing its historic report, and we are making this trip to ensure that our actionable recommendations are explicitly cemented into that document. We are hopeful that our recommendations are going to be taken seriously. For nearly 27 years, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has operated outside its statutory authority, undermining a law that Congress unanimously passed to guarantee an "enforceable, independent, and accountable" process for public disclosure. Early in the task force's existence, we provided a formal submission that outlined and discussed a myriad of critical issues including missing Final Determination Notifications (FDN's) and the lack of a searchable (and verified complete) index of records. We are hopeful that our input will help to restart congressional oversight of the records collection and be the  blueprint to finally correct decades of improper record  administration by NARA in the post Assassination Record Review Board era. Andrew Iler and Mark Adamczyk  are two of the foremost experts on the planet when it comes to the technicalities of the  JFK Records Act.   Their continuing research has uncovered issues with the records collection that can no longer be swept aside. Who were the women who worked with Jeffrey Epstein? In Part I of this series, we look at Ghislaine Maxwell, transnational crime royalty as the daughter of MI6/Mossad double-agent and disgraced British media mogul Robert Maxwell, whose dying wish was to connect Maxwell with a young upstart in New York named Epstein.  Joining this discussion are investigative filmmaker Dave Pederson, the producer of the anti-corruption documentaries Americonned and Super Size Me, and OSINT expert Patrick Duggan who created a searchable database of the Epstein files before the DOJ could delete them. We also discuss the analysis by investigative journalist Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez that Maxwell was Epstein's handler in an intelligence long-game going back to the O.S.S., predecessor to the C.I.A.  Important historical context to our discussion: In 2011, then FBI Director Robert Mueller gave the "Iron Triangles" speech, revealing that transnational crime today works like an industry: fancy Western institutions like banks, law firms, and PR firms launder the money and reputations of shadowy crime and rogue intelligence syndicates, who are further served by their paid-off political operatives and politicians. In the speech, Mueller promised to crack down on the head of the Russian mafia, Semion Mogilevich, nicknamed the "boss of all bosses." Instead, Mogilevich was mysteriously taken off of the FBI's Most Wanted List in 2015, at a time the FBI was busting Russian spy rings in New York City, including Kremlin recruitment of college girls, including one Andrea may have encountered at a foreign policy event. A year later, Donald Trump, after decades of financial dealings with dirty Russian money, would be elected president with the Kremlin's illegal help. The 2016 election was a transnational coup decades in the making. In 1999, a high-level U.S. source leaked to the New York Times, undermining a sensitive intelligence operation between the FBI and MI6 to close-in on Russian mafia infiltration in the West, especially Mogilevich. In reporting from that time, The Guardian wrote:  "Author Jeffrey Robinson - whose latest book, The Merger, was published by Simon and Schuster last week - says that organised criminals such as Mogilevich are enjoying massive success using Harvard Business School techniques. 'Mogilevich typifies the new global criminal,' says Robinson. 'These men don't rob banks, they buy them. They take full advantage of globalisation, ill-equipped law enforcement and lax money-laundering laws - especially in Britain - using the City of London as their onshore gateway to the offshore world. 'This case is the tip of the iceberg. The City is an absolute cesspool and it will remain a cesspool because the people in charge don't care. Mogilevich is not the only one, the Bank of New York is not the only place."  Russian oligarchs are the Russian military industrial complex. Mogilevich oversees "weapons trafficking, contract murders, extortion, drug trafficking, and prostitution on an international scale," according to the FBI. It would be easy to buy-off U.S. officials, like the FBI's Charles McGonigal who was paid with our tax dollars to fight the Russian mafia, but was instead on their payroll. Intelligence agencies in the U.S. – the FBI and the CIA – have faced virtually no oversight and accountability for most of their existence, leading to the explosive Church Committee Congressional hearings, exposing that the CIA and FBI were involved in covert mind control experiments, illegal coups and science fiction-style assassination programs, and violent infiltration of political opposition groups on U.S. soil. She was the Senior Story Producer on the CNNFilms documentary “The End: Inside the Last Days of the Obama White House” , which premiered at the National Archives in Washington, DC. She directed and produced the feature “Indian Point”, about an aging nuclear power plant close to New York City, which was honored with the Frontline Award for Journalism in a Documentary Film and aired on NHK during the anniversary of Fukushima in Japan. Ivy created and directed the 6-part nonfiction series “The Hill” (Sundance Channel), about Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) and his young staff (nominated for best series by the International Documentary Association). She produced the feature documentary “Museum Town”, which premiered at SxSW, and has produced and directed for the Emmy Award winning climate change series “Years of Living Dangerously” (National Geographic) and for “Death Row Stories” (CNN). Ivy's debut film, “Heir to an Execution” (HBO), explored the legacy of her grandparents Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. It premiered at Sundance and was shortlisted for an Academy Award. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences and serves on the Professional Advisory Board of The Jacob Burns Film Center.
