Mit diesem Podcast beginnt im WarpCast eine neue Zeit, denn wir werden uns nicht mehr ausschließlich dem Thema Science-Fiction widmen, sondern auch Fantasythemen im Podcast besprechen. Damit erfülle ich (Chris) mir einen lange gehegten Wunsch, nämlich über Bücher, Filme und Serien aus diesem Genre zu sprechen. Doch wo soll man da nur anfangen? Mit einer so heterogenen Menge an Franchises oder Welten die es zu entdecken gilt, ist es meiner Meinung nach hilfreich sich darauf zu berufen was die meisten von uns kennen. Wir haben uns mit dieser Überlegung dazu entschieden Tolkiens Welt und seine bekannten Geschichten als Anfangspunkt unserer Fantasy-Exkurse heranzuziehen.  Doch Tolkiens Welt ist riesig und unfassbar komplex. Sich diesem Thema zu widmen kann aus unserer Sicht immer nur eine Annäherung bleiben. Die schiere Menge an Quellen und Verweisen ist erschlagend. Ich bitte daher alle Hörenden diesen Podcast auch in diesem Sinne zu verstehen. Wir nähern uns dem Thema an. Bereits in dieser Folge passieren uns Fehler, das ist unvermeidbar. Wir verwechseln hier und da Fakten oder bringen sie nicht ganz sauber in Zusammenhang. So ist es mir mit Wolfgang Krege passiert, den ich fälschlicherweise Manfred Krege nannte. Seht es uns bitte nach.  Ich denke im Podcast kommt unsere Begeisterung gut rüber und ihr könnt nach dem Hören ein bisschen besser verstehen wie wichtig uns das Thema ist.  Wer mit uns gemeinsam weiterlesen und lernen möchte, was es in Mittelerde zu entdecken gibt, dem kann ich nur empfehlen mal bei den Freunden des TolkCast und der Deutschen Tolkien Gesellschaft vorbeizuschauen. Das bildet gerade für Neulinge einen guten Überblick und hilft sehr den Einstieg zu erleichtern.  Ganz besonders möchte ich Anika vom TolkCast und der Deutschen Tolkien Gesellschaft danken die mit ihrem tollen Format „Tolkien in 5 Minuten“, viele wertvolle Denkanstöße gegeben hat.  Auch Jochen Gebauer und dem Kapitel Eins Podcast sei an dieser Stelle gedankt. Heute erfülle ich mir einen kleinen Traum den ich schon lange mit mir herumtrage. Nach mittlerweile 65 Episoden des WarpCast feiern wir den ersten Geburtstag unseres Podcast. Anfang 2020 sprachen Marco und ich das erste mal über die Idee einen Podcast ins Leben zu rufen, damals waren die Ideen noch grob umrissen und wir wussten alle noch nicht wie sich so etwas am Ende umsetzen lässt. Nach ein wenig hin und her kam es dann soweit dass Marco und ich uns gemeinsam vor das Mikrophon gesetzt haben und die erste Episode aufnahmen. Am 25.01.2020 hat diese erste Folge dann das Licht der Welt erblickt. Über das vergangene Jahr haben sich dann die unterschiedlichsten Themen ergeben. So habe ich mich persönlich in das kalte Wasser gestürzt und das Thema Perry Rhodan für mich entdeckt. Neben den Mitgliedern unserer kleinen Redaktion, waren auch externe Gäste mit dabei und haben etwas hören lassen. Autoren, Medienschaffende und Redakteure waren ebenfalls zu Gast. Da aber nicht jede Idee am Ende in der Umsetzung so viel Spaß macht oder qualitativ auf dem Level ist, die wir uns vorstellen, haben wir einiges auch wieder verworfen. Das Experimentieren werden wir uns auch in Zukunft offen halten. Seid also bitte nicht ganz so streng wenn mal ein Format nicht weitergeführt wird. Für die Zukunft werden wir unseren Fokus auf feste und wiederkehrende Formate legen. Der Dienstag wir im Wechsel die Perry Rhodan Erstausgabe und Perry Rhodan NEO bearbeiten. Am Freitag erhaltet ihr alle zwei Wochen eine Folge unseres Enterprise Rewatchs mit Gundel und mir. Die jeweils andere Woche erscheinen dann Podcasts zu wechselnden Themen. Die Planung ist zwar schon bis zum Juli 2021 fertig gemacht, es ist aber noch nichts in Stein gemeißelt und es wird auch noch die ein oder andere Änderung geben. Da das Thema Podcast und ein Magazin aber neben Zeit und Herzblut auch den ein oder anderen Euro kostet, brauche ich niemandem zu erklären. Wir haben uns daher dazu entschieden die Plattform Steady zu nutzen. Denn wer uns finanziell unterstützt kann das dort tun. Für uns steht fest dass unsere Podcastinhalte frei verfügbar bleiben. Wer sich aber dazu entschließt das 5€ Tier bei Steady zu buchen bekommt Zugang zu allen bereits vorproduzierten Folgen des WarpCast. Diese verschwinden zum selben Zeitpunkt aus Steady, in dem sie im öffentlichen Podcastfeed veröffentlicht werden. Es wird also keinem etwas vorenthalten. Um unsere Audioqualität im Jahr 2021 weiter zu steigern, werden wir versuchen uns viel mit anderen Podcastern auszutauschen. Listener, Mike Samsen, wrote in with his thoughts: "Someone said NOT to get a yellow tent because it attracts bugs. Being the happy owner of a yellow Redverz, I was distressed by my apparent stupidity (though I’ve never had an issue.) Anyhow, being a recovering management consultant, I had to do a little research. As it turns out, it appears yellow is a good color. According to Sciencing.com, "Insects are attracted to ultraviolet and blue light, including black and florescent." Pest Cemetery.com maintains that "yellow lights or the color yellow actually prevents mosquitoes from biting you. Yellow is a color mosquitoes can hardly see and when they do see the color it confuses them. Consequently yellow clothing may be a wise choice to prevent an evening out from turning itchy."
