Maja Aro and Dani Johnson are two of the talented dynamos behind Abby and the Muffins. The series – which dropped on YouTube in late 2024 and quickly amassed more than 100,000 subscribers – stars the wildly talented Dani as Abby, a singing, stunting, and dancing tour-guide who leads pre-schoolers through an imaginative world of fun, play, movement, learning, and exploring. In this fascinating conversation with Sabrina Rani Furminger, Maja and Dani talk about the joys and challenges of putting together an original series combining live action, animation, and original music, working with kids, the benefits of trying scary things and creating the content you want to see in the world, and why growing up shouldn't mean giving up playtime. For this week, I decided to replay a fan favorite for all to enjoy... again!! In this episode, Mark Baratto sits down with Len Johnson, the co-owner of Better Than Sex - A Dessert Restaurant, to talk about where Len's wife Dani gets her inspiration as head baker, and how she "tested" her recipes on all their dinner guests. We talk about the genius behind the restaurant's name (it was all Dani's idea), how they had the "guts" to even start this business after the recession, and how changing their client focus catapulted the brand. Be on the lookout for the Better Than Sex podcast, and don't forget to visit any one of their many locations to try, "Cookie Nookie Pie," Between My Red Velvet Sheets Cheesecake," "Peanut Butter Perversion," "The Morning After," just to name a few. More on Better Than Sex - A Dessert Restaurant Our dream began in 2003. As newlyweds, I was eager to make my husbands every desire a reality, so when he exclaimed to me “I want dessert!”, I wanted to impress! Four hours later after patiently waiting, a fully decorated two-layer Oreo Cookie Cake appeared. Len was a happy hubby. He proclaimed it ‘amazingly delicious' and said: “wow if you can do this, what else can you do?” I am not one for letting go of a challenge and really wanted to “show him” what I could do! Then began the odyssey that leads us to today. My love of baking stemmed from fond memories in my Italian family's kitchen alongside my mom. So, I continued and began teaching myself how to bake. I collected all of my recipes, saved receipts, and took photos of everything I made. Something guided me to do this without reason for several years. Our concept for BTS had not formed yet. I would bring my creations to work and test them out on friends and co-workers. They would often exclaim “you should do this for a living.” Len and I secretly agreed. When Len said to me ‘write a menu' and “I'll write the business plan,” challenge #2 was accepted. We knew we wanted to create an after-dinner experience, an extension of an evening in a romantic and sophisticated sexy atmosphere. And so, it begins…. In 2006 we threw a Valentine's Day Dessert party at our house and invited a few unsuspecting friends. Some of the dessert items we have on the menu today were tested on them. Our idea to open a dessert-only restaurant was officially validated that night. We put our twisted minds together and had an incredibly fun time creating what is now Better Than Sex - A Dessert Restaurant. On May 20, 2008, we officially opened at our original location, 411 Petronia Street to a full house! We always believed in our idea and ourselves, however, the road after was a bit more challenging. The first reviews were less than positive and at one point we only had a few thousand dollars to our names. We Never Quit! Then in 2010 Better Than Sex was featured on the Travel Channel and the rest is history. By 2012 the little location on Petronia Street was standing room only. We needed a bigger restaurant. It was decided to pick up and move to the current Key West location. Our last night at the Petronia location featured our team and guests picking up their tables and chairs and walking them down the block and setting them up in the new space. On December 26th, 2015 we opened our Orlando location. Len and I met over 20 years ago waiting tables in Orlando and it seemed like a perfect fit for our second spot. Orlando opened its doors to a packed house and has been successful since. Coming full circle, on Valentines' Day of 2016 we were blessed to have been featured on CBS Sunday Morning. As you can see, Valentine's Day is significant to BTS. “We valentine, all the time.” We are passionate about what we do and now want to share that opportunity with other like-minded people. We are currently offering our concept to franchise nationwide. And to think, this was all born from an Oreo Cookie Layer Cake. Back in 2003, as husband and wife, we made a promise to ourselves….“Lists do work, agreements work, if you believe it, have a partner that can hold you accountable, you can and will make it happen.” We always will! Today Dr. Leelo Bush shares the unique storytelling gifts of Dani Johnson to create a deeper understanding of talent and abilities. The goal is to understand one's God-given gifts and by doing so, increasing our confidence in what we can accomplish. [01:55] Parable of the Talents [03:04] Useful Reflections on the Parable [05:51] The First Servant's Success [08:45] The Optimistic Second Servant [11:19] The Fall of the Third Servant [17:17] Personalize conclusions from the Parable Talents are Gifts from God The discussion on abilities and talents stems from the idea that these are God-given gifts one receives once they are born. While some are gifted with many talents and others with just one, the important lesson one needs to take away from this is how well can one utilize their gifts. The idea of fear, rejection, and failure are some of the driving factors to why individuals fail to shine with their God-given abilities. Only with the spirit of encouragement, and the trust you have in God in utilizing your gifts, will make you a more capable and confident person. The Parable of the Talents The perfect example of proper utilization of gifts is the Parable of the Talents. Here, 3 servants are given various talents each according to their abilities. With a spirit of excellence and diligence, the first 2 servants, despite having different talents, managed to find success in utilizing what they are given. The same cannot be said for the third, who opted to hide their talent due to the lack of trust and personal insecurities. The parable teaches listeners that despite the number of talents you receive, how you maximize it will be the determining factor whether you succeed in the future. For 2 of the servants, being hardworking, having the right attitude and confidence were the key to success. This is the key takeaway to what the parable wants listeners to get from today's episode. Michelle Ockers is an organisational learning strategist and modern workplace learning practitioner. She helps organisations build high-impact L&D functions by developing and implementing their learning strategy, mindset and skills – and helping L&D professionals become business partners that create value. In this episode, we reflect on what are some of the critical skills for L&D teams, being mindful of our blindspots, how L&D experts are ‘impact explorers', and some key insights from her podcast, Learning Uncut. About Michelle OckersMichelle spent close to three decades in learning and development. After 16 years in the Royal Australian Air Force, she brought her training and project management experience into the corporate sector. In 2018, she started her popular podcast, Learning Uncut, helping L&D professionals share real stories about their work. The podcast became a global go-to source for examples of leading edge industry practice, matching her vision for the industry's potential – and how we can achieve that together. She then made Learning Uncut into a network to offer L&D leaders everywhere the opportunity to thrive, with the support of leading experts.Key takeaways:There are some critical skills needed for L&D teams to be relevant. Michelle highlights some ‘human skills'' like leadership, critical thinking and communication, as key skills to develop within your L&D team. We can't master every skill ourselves, but if we ensure some of the most critical skills across our team are covered, we are able to watch out for any blindspots.Performance consulting is a must-have skill in particular. A successful L&D team is able to demonstrate business impact, not just learning impact. Michelle best describes this skill from the Learning and Performance Institute definition: “it's about partnering with customers and clients, to analyse performance gaps, recommend appropriate interventions and measure the outcomes.”Consider some mindset shifts for your L&D team. If we do a good job with our learning programs, we don't need to be there the whole time. L&D teams are very supportive, but they need to know when to let go. About Dani JohnsonDani is the Co-founder and Principal Analyst for RedThread Research. Before starting RedThread, Dani led the Learning and Career research practice at Bersin, Deloitte. Her ideas can be found in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, CLO Magazine, HR Magazine, and Employment Relations. Dani holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University.Key TakeawaysRedThread's Next-gen Learning Method Report demonstrates that the ways people work are changing – and that the methods companies use to learn must keep pace with those changes. Their research shows that there are more than 60 methods that enable employee L&D, from the way employees consume information to how they can learn from one another. When it comes to analysing data, it's important to be able to ‘sift through' and identify actionable information. 'It doesn't matter what your mama did; it doesn't matter what your daddy didn't do. Nobody but you is responsible for your life. You are responsible for the energy that you create for yourself".Believe it or not, every setback, every disaster, and every hardship that we experience is there to serve us, to help us grow, to help us rise up and elevate our lives, each and every one of us has this tremendous power within...The "power within" us doesn't discriminate and doesn't elude anyone we all have equal and unlimited amounts within us. It simply depends on which voice we listen to, and which voice we feed - our ego or our authentic self.Dani Johnson's personal story is a true testament to how powerful the power within really is. Dani made a meagre living as a cocktail waitress in Hawaii and was living out of her car with just two dollars and three cents to her name and $37,000 in debt. Welcome to the final regular season episode of "Class Reunion: The Podcast"! In this episode, I have a conversation with Debbie Zamparelli, now Debbie Howard, who was one of the folks who attended our in-person reunion in September 2021. We ended up hitting it off, striking up a friendship we didn't have when we were teens. When we sat around the campfire later that night and she started telling me some of her story about growing up in Aurora, I asked if she'd come on the podcast and tell it instead. I'm so glad she said yes. This conversation is the only podcast interview that I recorded after the reunion in Aurora, Missouri, but that's not the only reason I decided to make it the finale. Debbie's experience of moving into a foster home at age 12, getting her first job at 14 and having a baby a week after graduation is only where the story begins, not where it ends. She is now a real estate closing specialist in Searcy, Arkansas, who has raised five children over the past 20 years. Her youngest still lives at home, and she's taking college classes for the first time. It was so special to talk with Debbie for this final episode of this first season of the show. We cover a lot of ground and I end the episode with some thoughts about what making this show has taught me about the concepts of "hometown" and "community." I have at least one bonus episode that I'll surprise you with soon, so stay tuned on Patreon.com.com/classreunionpodcast if you want to support future seasons of the show. Thanks to sponsors Advanced Eyecare Kansas City, Aurora Professional Pharmacy, Bill Baker and the Classes of 1972 and 1975 for their support of the show. I'm also grateful to Patreon subscribers who chip in a few bucks each month to help cover production costs, like the website and the episode donations. Each week, the classmate featured in the show picks an organization or non-profit, and I make a donation on behalf of the class and this show. This week, that donation is going to Virginia Gaston's For the Kids, an organization founded by Debbie's foster mom to help other foster kids in Southwest Missouri. This is the third donation to For the Kids this season. If you want to support the group, follow them on Facebook. Thanks to podcast supporters and sponsors, we've donated nearly $500 to Southwest Missouri nonprofits through this show. An extra thanks to Chris Gonzalez, Alyssa Vidales, Chandler Hoefle, Sis Broyles, Chris and Betsy Cook, Robin and Manuel Beltrán, Dani Johnson and Frank Curry for their encouragement and production support.

Today I am excited as always to welcome my guest Jefferson Santos who is a best-selling author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur. I always say I love having real people join me on The Alden Report who are doing real things that can add value to my listeners. I get even more excited when I'm joined by people that I can instantly make a connection with on a personal level who have similar thoughts and overcame similar struggles and that's exactly what we have in store today. Jefferson grew up outside of Dallas in Richardson, Texas with his mom and sister. He attended and played football at the U.S. Naval Academy and Texas Christian University. Despite possessing great entrepreneurial ambition, by the age of 20 his bank account was in the red at -$1,100 and he had a debt load of $70,000. That's when he decided to make a change and he has never looked back. Since then, he has earned several million dollars and traveled the world training teams from New York to Singapore, Amsterdam to Zimbabwe, and everywhere in between. An energetic and inspirational speaker, he's been blessed to share the stage with some of the biggest names in his industry-- Brendon Burchard, Darren Hardy, Dani Johnson, Marcia Wieder, Cynthia Kersey, Loral Langemeier, Les Brown and Peter Diamandis. During this episode, we talk about our similar backgrounds, about how even the littlest things can make a big difference, about how important it is to be prepared for that big life changing moment and how having an adventurous spirit, courage, faith, persistence and not sweating the small stuff will ultimately lead to success. Celia Berenguer. since November 2017 Chief Learning Officer at European-headquarterted Life Sciences giant Sanofi, couldn’t have been more excited getting ready to press the ‘Go’ button a new Sanofi University. Then, as we hear on this latest episode in our on-going Season 7 look at Purpose in the modern enterprise, a certain novel coronavirus decided to mess with her plans. This is a story, then, about not just how she and her L&D team had to help flip the company to remote working, but what to do about that whole corporate Learning endeavor. Celia—a graduate of Tufts who’s held senior Learning roles in organisations including Barclays, BP, and the Harvard Business School—tells me and this week’s co-interviewer, RedThread Research’s Dani Johnson, not just how she won through, but how a renewed Sanofi focus on Purpose driven by its new CEO, Paul Hudson, helped her work through many of her most difficult issues. A way we decide to understand all this is that COVID’s been a way to help L&D see that what it needs to offer is access to skills and support for talent mobility that makes sense for the individual, the company’s and their own Purpose of ‘Empowering Life:’ Purpose, perhaps, as more bottom-up than top-down, compared to other companies we’ve profiled in our exploration of ‘Is Purpose Working?’ Expect to hear a lot of honest reflection on the first steps of an amazing journey, then, as well as all the countries you need to live in to end up with that accent, the fun and challenge of working with 140 nationalities working hard on everything from general medicines to consumer healthcare to vaccine creation, as well as: how she’s seen the Pandemic throw out the talent rulebook and end standard career pathways; how Learning at Sanofi has a new focus, aligned to getting products out there to help patients; the contribution to making Purpose explicit by her new CEO; why she sees L&D as the source of all the support mechanisms and development tools that can bring that Purpose to life for people; democratising Learning and sharing Learning in a crisis; and so much more.

Welcome to episode 61 where we talk about how to stop living life for everyone else, and start living your own. In this episode we get into just how easy it is to let go, stuff, deny or subvert who we really are, what we always wanted to go after, and focus instead on what others need, and what others need us to be. It can happen quickly but most usually slowly over time, and before you know it years have gone by. Key Elements: Discuss the early setup in your childhood that makes it easier to lose yourself in relationships. Explore some of the signals you might not be living the life that you were meant to. Focus on ways to get back to you! Don't you dare put your life in a box! Don't you dare decide to settle for mediocrity! Don't you dare give up on your dreams! Hi y'all, hope you are all staying healthy and safe. We're taking a vacation this week, and so we're re-publishing one of our most listened to episodes from last year, our second-ever episode where we sat down with RedThread Research's Dani Johnson. A big theme for Dani (now and then) is the importance of putting humanity back into our Learning Programs. That's a passion that feels even more relevant today in our COVID world, where digitally mediated interaction is making true human connection a little tougher, but it remains an essential goal for any Learning Leader. Though we're sure Dani doesn't need any introduction, but she is of course Co-Founder and Principal Analyst at her company, and has spent the majority of her career writing about, conducting research in, and consulting on human capital practices and technology, in such contexts as leading the Learning and Career research practice at quality brands like Bersin, as well as the Human Resource Competency Study (University of Michigan) and the RBL Group. That last gig resulted in her co-authoring the book, HR Competencies: Mastery at the Intersection of People and Business, while her great ideas and CLO community observations can be found in high-prestige L&D/CLOp publications such as CLO Magazine, HR Magazine, and Employment Relations today. PS: we are working with RedThread on an exciting new project we will announce later this month, but in the meantime, enjoy the episode, stay well--and try take a break, too!

It’s been a common practice for years. Recently, it’s even made major headlines. As organizations seek to improve diversity and reduce bias, learning programs and initiatives are frequently at the forefront. Logically, creating awareness about our biases results in a change in behavior and ultimately a better outcome, right? Well, logic and data don’t always match up. In fact, is it possible our efforts may actually be contributing to the problem? In this episode I talk with Dani Johnson from RedThread Research about the research that addresses the truth about Diversity and Unconscious Bias training. Listen in to hear what the research is showing and what steps you can take to effectively improve D&I in your organization. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/learningtechtalks/support

I choose to invest in events and shows regularly. I believe there is nothing like a live event. I've attended events with Strategic Coach, Dani Johnson, Herbalife Global Nutrition, Brendon Burchard, and Travel Blogger Exchange to name a few. You may regularly attend workshops and personal development events like I do. I've always loved to learn. It started with reading extensively as a child and even teaching my stuffed animals. It continued all through school including undergrad, grad and certifications. As an entrepreneur, like many of us, I recognized there were many skills I wanted and needed to learn. Call it an "entrepreneurship degree lol". Since becoming an entrepreneur, I seek daily wisdom from our Creator, read Success is Not an Accident and Joy Principle 4:8, I write down gratitude and goals daily twice daily. I choose to invest in events regularly as well. I believe there is nothing like a live event. I've attended events with Strategic Coach, Dani Johnson, Herbalife Global Nutrition, Brendon Burchard to name a few. . Like any business, it involves persistence and patience. Did you know 8 out of 10 businesses fail in the first two years? Whether it's being an entrepreneur, coach, and/or building a brand it requires desire, drive, and determination. In comparison to many other businesses and events, network marketing offers a lower investment to both start or buy-in, as well as for events. For example, our typical meetings to attend monthly are free for first time guests, and about $25 after that depending on the city, state and country. Extravaganza which was >30,000 of us this year is for distributors, also known as business builders and entrepreneurs, early bird is $75 for Friday - Sunday. We do get 2 tickets (subject to availability) to invite guests for Friday night only. They then decide if they would like to attend at a special price. I don't know about you, but I have not attended weekend long events for $75 before with personal development, workshops and leadership. Any of the events I listed above that I invested in are all well above $75. The experience and the value of each extravaganza is mind blowing. Our next one. is in San Antonio in 2020 for North America. If you would love to learn more, feel free to register at the meal plan via freebies and/or email. There are several reasons to attend Transformation Events. With every event I have ever attended, I have grown exponentially as a person, creator and CEO. 10 Teachers of Transformation We Love: Creating Community + Confidence Full post + images + examples We give insight into teachers we love and impact us in every way. This is an initial insight and roadmap into tons of transformation in shifting my life in health, wealth, business and creating FIT Life Creation. We will be doing this feature now regularly so stay tuned! This post is inspired by the creators, dreamers, and transformers who are brave enough to transform + inspire + impact. We want to express gratitude for all the ways they serve in the world + transform + inspire + create what they love! Highlights 1) Our Creator I believe we have a creator and that we are always guided when we listen. When I look back on my life from my conception - in Bulgaria - to being in four countries by the time I was two - it was very clear that the spirit was guiding us. Nothing in our lives was "normal". It was all supernatural, and has continued to be. 2) My Parents - My first earthly teachers, like many of us, are my parents. They have taught and shown me leaps of faith, fighting for freedom, showing up, overcoming obstacles, selfless and sacrificial love, and so much more. 3) Beth Moore - I first learned about Beth Moore in 2011 from Mount Paran Church. In particular, her Bible Study "Breaking Free" spoke to me. 4) Dave Ramsey I first discovered Dave also at Mount Paran in 2011. I took his entire course in 12 weeks as a self-study and in community too! 5) Dani Johnson A few years after leaving Corporate America, I came across a free book offer "First Steps to Wealth" with Dani Johnson. It resonated with many of Dave Ramsey's points in Financial Peace. However, I loved having it in a female perspective. It only intensified my growth. #6 Strategic Coach When I became a full-time entrepreneur in 2011, I realized how many things I did not know. Like Aladdin from Disney, "It Was a Whole New World". From a friend of mine, I got referred to Ed who was in Strategic Coach, an entrepreneurial program that has been around for 20+ years. #7 Herbalife Global Nutrition first found me in 2013 via my best friend at the time, Isabel Velez. In my first two months, I lost over 15 lbs with adding shakes + beverage mix snack. Disclaimer: avg weight loss is 0.5 to 1 lb a week with healthy active lifestyle. I continue to transform in every way step by step. I also gained an incredible community with our inspirational leader - Garrain Jones + Herbaheroes. #8 Brendon Burchard I first discovered Brendon via an ad about his books The Charge and Motivation Manifesto! I devoured those back in 2013! Brendon Burchard is one of the top motivation and marketing trainers in the world. –Larry King Top 25 Most Influential Leaders in Personal Growth and Achievement. –Success Magazine Top 100 Most Followed Public Figure in the World. –Facebook Insights One of the most influential leaders in the field of personal growth. –O, The Oprah Magazine #9 Chalene Johnson I first discovered Chalene Johnson when Natalie Minh (a great mentor and friend) told me I reminded her of Chalene! I looked at her info and thought Wow! That is such a great compliment! Chalene Johnson is a world-renowned motivational speaker with more than 30 years as a health expert. She is a New York Times best-selling author, health and lifestyle expert, and top health podcaster! #10 Rachel Hollis I first learned about Rachel Hollis from a good friend of mine, Mellie King, who mentioned her book - Girl, Wash Your Face! Right away, I loved her girlfriend, relatable, spiritual, yet also ambitious driving personality to help us create what we love. I've listed to that book now twice and Girl, Stop Apologizing twice. I'm a big believer that knowing yourself helps in every area of life. I also love to know and understand the nature and personality of other people, especially our children! It helps to ease stress in the home and makes raising them easier when we know what makes them tick, what motivates them, what they need and how to help them thrive. They feel validated and loved for who they truly are and learn that they don't need to change themselves in order to please others or to be loved. It has helped to reduce tantrums, arguments & I get more cooperation from my kids now that I understand them better. Learn which programs I used to understand more about myself and them in this episode! As parents raise kids in our culture today, they should think about how spiritual problems can impede success. Maybe it's time to consider how vices like greed or dishonestly can actually hurt our ability to truly succeed in many areas of life. Dani Johnson is a successful entrepreneur and an international speaker, a coach, and a media host. She is also a bestselling author and has written several books, including Grooming the Next Generation for Success. Dani has not always been so successful, but she feels her her rags to riches story is one that can be duplicated if you know what to do. How Spiritual Problems Impede Success in the Lives of Many People Today We are in a spiritual crisis in America today, but we don't know it. I believe my experience at Shepherds Hill Academy has shown me that the intellectual, social, psychological, emotional, and behavior problems plaguing American kids today are coming as a direct result of simply growing up in a society rife with systemic moral problems and questionable moral values. The preeminent problem is a spiritual one, and part of the problem is we are no longer wise people. I am often hesitant to link our systemic cultural problems with the word “spiritual” because that word is now seen as a fairy-tale word in the eyes of many people today, and remarkably, even in the eyes of many self-proclaimed Christians. “Spirituality” is viewed as a metaphysical construct by today's secularized citizenry and, therefore, it is no longer deemed to be as credible as those empirical truths that can be observed with the five senses. But you can't prove love, dreams, ideas, and other non-empirical realities either, yet nobody would argue against the reality of any of those things. Regardless of having no empirical evidence for those things, we all know that they are realities. So how can the spiritual issues facing our nation today affect the success of our kids? Is it possible that things like greed, idolatry, dishonesty, and unforgiveness are actually hindering our kids from succeeding in some areas of life? Today, Dani Johnson and I continue our discussion about preparing children to succeed as we cover the following subjects: An overview of Dani's Story. How trials can teach kids how to handle certain issues in life. How the “perfect family” might not exist. How putting up a “perfect family” facade can teach kids to lie about who they are. What changes can parents make in order to guide the next generation? How forgiveness is tied to success. How idolatry infects American culture. Why parents need to equip kids to carry their family values into every environment. Picture provided by: maxpixel.net

While too many of us are unwittingly allowing our culture to be our kids' “other parent,” largely via digital technology, that “other parent” has been doing a whale of a job sabotaging any success we may have otherwise hoped our kids would find. So instead of dooming the next generation for failure, today, we will focus on grooming the next generation for success. Dani Johnson has taught hundreds of thousands of people around the world about business, money, and relationships. She leads and coaches with a passionate desire to see people not only succeed, but also thrive in the marketplace. As a seasoned entrepreneur, Dani has moved from rags to riches, becoming a multimillionaire in the process. She is a bestselling author, an international speaker, and a host for both radio and television programs. Dani is regularly called upon by major media outlets for her expertise in business, finance, relationships, and spirituality. Dani is also a devoted wife, and she has five children and seven grandchildren. She seeks to serve God both personally and professionally. How Our Culture Can Make It Harder for Parents to Help Kids Find Success On License to Parent, we often speak about how parents and their kids are now living in a culture that is nothing less than toxic—at least for anyone trying to live a pure, obedient, and fulfilled life before God. Today, we really do have to be a lot more intentional about preparing our kids to be the Daniels, Josephs, Ruths, and Esthers that they need to be to find the kind of success that Scripture calls the abundant life. The days of solely relying on church attendance to help build our kids' character and spiritual well-being are over. This is especially true now that the internet is proliferating our culture's “new-morality!” Today's Christian parents need to become serious and intentional about their faith and the spiritual well-being and success of their families—however one defines success. Otherwise, our kids are going to fall prey to the same vain philosophies, grand delusions, and appetites that have now permeated our entire society. After all, smoking weed, watching porn, and constantly playing video games rarely produces any lasting satisfaction or success—and they darn-sure rarely produce a paycheck either. Sadly, these things are becoming the new normal for kids and adults. In our postmodern and relativistic world, we now pick and choose our realities, not by logic or where the objective evidence takes us, but by how something makes us feel. Consequently, today, everyone does what is right in their own eyes, including our kids. Even if you don't take into account all the biblical and spiritual principles, priorities, and values that America has abandoned in recent times, what ever happened to our logic and common sense? Anybody ought to be able to conclude that when one pro athlete's annual paycheck could bankroll a small city's entire police force, fire department, and public school system, our values and priorities make no sense! But that's the new American success story. And we have bought it all hook, line, and sinker. I'm looking forward to our guest helping us sort through this success thing for the sake of our kids, our families, our country, and the good name of our Lord. Today, Dani Johnson and I discuss finding true success as we cover the following topics: How do we define success in the lives of our teens? What does it mean to groom teens to succeed? Was Dani's transformation supernatural? How has the cultural attack on fathers hindered fatherhood? How is your child's environment grooming him or her to fail? Are we raising our kids for failure? Are Christians succeeding in setting their kids up for success. What is the number one thing Christians can do to succeed in our culture.

EP. 34 The conclusion of our three-part conversation on identity and confidence. While the complexity of human beings will never fit neatly into four categories, there are endless degrees of variation within each of the personality types. It’s really just the starting point for discovering who we are. If this sounds a bit confusing, perhaps it would be easier to think of the personality types as a "language." Therefore, the more "fluent" a parent becomes in their child’s "language", the better they will communicate. What does it mean to be human? With all the discussion of robots, AI, and machines at work, is there a clear delineation between what humans can do that software can't? In today's discussion with the inimitable Dani Johnson of Red Thread Research, Ben and Dani discuss some practical ways employers can look at weaving more human components into the work they're doing. Dani's research shows that things like collaboration, storytelling, and creating a vision for the future all tie in with this innate human quality of work, but how do we take advantage of those tools to create better workplaces and performance? This meshes well with Ben's approach in his new book, "Artificial Intelligence for HR," and the conversation takes a fun turn as they both explore examples and ideas for how to make this practically appealing for employers. Jess Winnett is a Live Stream Business Strategist and an entrepreneur who’s building a legacy online. She loves empowering others with the truth that they can have the life and business that they want, without sacrificing time with family with loved ones. She’s the “Queen of Periscope”, and she’s here to show and tell others how they too can use this amazing platform to bring incredible results to their business. Jess got started on Periscope about 10 months ago and although the live streaming aspect intimidated her at first, she fell in love with the way she could connect with people using it. “I knew that I had this voice and this content to share. I just wasn’t sure what platform was right for me.” Her number of followers has steadily grown to a little over 2,700 people, and she notes that she started with no social media presence prior to using Periscope. She feels that there is a direct correlation between Periscope and customer service, and believes that every single time you go live, you leave people with a feeling. She strives to connect with others each time she broadcasts and also gets to know the names of people watching. “People will come back if they feel loved, cherished and appreciated” Due to the fact that Periscope streams live, you can build the “know-like-trust” factor very quickly. The platform has also introduced enhanced features for searching to improve users’ experience. Jess and her husband are big advocates of letting people know when they’re doing a really good job with customer service, as people tend to hear more of the negative reviews that are posted online. To her, a big part of creating a positive customer experience is having that joyful attitude. Jess adds that this starts at the top of an organization and by also affirming customers in their purchasing decisions, all employees can contribute to the experience. She believes that some people are born with the charisma and other skills to do customer service well, but others have to train to learn how to do it. “I had to really work on re-training my mind to be more positive and look for the better outlook in things” She adds that people should always be growing and working on their own personal development so that they can give their customers a better experience. Business can be difficult at times, but you need to self-motivate quite a bit. Jess has also created a private Facebook group (see “INTERVIEW LINKS”) to help motivate her. “What’s beautiful about what you create is that you do have to self-motivate quite a bit” Jess notes that it’s important, particularly when starting a business, to have a vision. She also tries to remember who she ultimately wants to impact. “We can get so focused on what we’re doing short-term that we forget what’s the long-term thing (we want)” Joining a mastermind group has helped her think outside of her business and also with marketing ideas. “Seek out people that will encourage you. Seek out mentors and like-minded individuals.” The online tool or resource that she couldn’t live without is Calendly (see “INTERVIEW LINKS”), which she directs people for booking times to speak. Jess’ recommended books are “First Steps to Wealth” by Dani Johnson, “Quitter” by Jon Acuff, “The 10X Rule” by Grant Cardone, “Raving Fans” by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles and “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. In order to motivate staff, Jess says this needs to be done daily and can be achieved many ways, including daily emails, sales meetings in the morning, and constantly staying connected with your people. She’s really excited about launching her Live Stream Academy (see “INTERVIEW LINKS”) for beginner and intermediate online business owners. “I get to help a lot of different people in a lot of different seasons in their business and life” The quote or mantra she lives by is “Do not question in the dark what God has shown you in the light.” We would welcome a subscribe, rate and review for the show and also that the listeners can come hang out at Navigating the Customer Experience Community on Facebook. This is a private Facebook group for our listeners and past guests to come over share insights and industry trending topics and discussions on business and customer experience – click here!
