'The End' is the last song in the medley of the Abbey Road album, and it is the only song in the Beatles' catalogue that features a drum solo by Ringo Starr. According to EMI engineer Geoff Emerick, who worked on the album, the solo was originally longer, but it was edited down to fit the song's length. Our BDJ engineers have made a remix of the Beatles song 'The End', which features an extended drum solo by Ringo Starr. This solo is based on the original recording that was cut short for the Abbey Road album, as well as the inspiration that Ringo drew from the drum solo in 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' by Iron Butterfly.'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' is a song by Iron Butterfly that is considered one of the first examples of heavy metal music. It was written by the band's vocalist and organist Doug Ingle, who allegedly slurred the words 'In the Garden of Eden' when he was drunk. The song features a long instrumental section that includes a drum solo by Ron Bushy. We have combined elements of both drum solos and created a remix of 'The End' that showcases Ringo's talent and style.  If, at some time,, the original recording of Ringo's solo emerges, then we will know how accurate this version of the solo is.

Conversations are vital to our existence - after all, we talk with people every day. But have you ever dissected what makes a conversation effective? When we are more conscious of how we are talking with others, we can nurture more productive connections, and avoid common pitfalls that often derail our conversations. In this episode, we explore the importance of conscious conversations, with author Chuck Wisner, whose new book The Art Of Conscious Conversations: Transforming How We Talk, Listen, and Interact is coming out in mid October 2022. Chuck's insights are built on a fascinating mix of careers: from architect to personal coach, with a stop-off as a mediator at the Harvard Law Mediation Program.  With Chuck, we discuss the four sequential stages to an effective conversation:  Storytelling Collaboration Creativity Commitment We explore the role our identity plays in shaping the stories we tell ourselves, why leaders' authority can make their voice louder, and how some of our best ideas happen when we are stimulating our creative minds. “The stories we live by and tell ourselves and others are essential to our identity.” ~ Chuck Wisner If you enjoy listening to Behavioral Grooves Podcast, please consider donating to our work through our Patreon page. As broadcast September 2, 2021 with plenty of extra echoes on that dub for you podcast surfers.  Tonight we pay tribute with the entirety of our first quarter of the show, remembering a legend on the mic & in the booth, who not only changed reggae & dub forever, but far beyond those as well.  Lee "Scratch" Perry passed away on Sunday aged 85, and one in that amount of years could hardly have more influence than The Upsetter.  After that, we have a good amount of new funk & soul to get through with a remix from Prefuse 73, a live version from Hojean, and a pretty amazing bit of afrobeat from Common as well!  For our 2nd hour AMPED rock feature, there are some blistering tunes to go through as well, with Turnstile out with their colossus of an album, IDLES covering Metallica, and Halsey teaming up with Trent Reznor on her new album which is also cracking stuff.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)Lee “Scratch” Perry – Disco DevilBob Marley – Sun Is Shining (Lee “Scratch” Perry Dub)Dennis Alcapone feat Lee “Scratch” Perry – Back Biter (aka Shocks '71)Lee “Scratch” Perry & The Upsetters – Curly LocksThe Orb feat Lee “Scratch” Perry – Golden Clouds Part II (30:16)Arjuna Oakes & Serebii – First NightsHojean – Over 85 (Live)Maston & L'éclair – Swiss FrancDaste. – changes Freddie Gibbs & Yasiin Bey – Never Die (Prefuse 73 remix)Common feat Black Thought & Seun Kuti – When We MoveFela Kuti & Afrika 70 with Ginger Baker – Ginger Baker & Tony Allen Drum Solo, Pt 2Part III (62:59)Turnstile – BlackoutHalsey – HoneyIron Maiden – StrategoTeenage Bottlerocket – You're Never Going Out of StyleJohnny Marr – Spirit, Power and SoulPart IV (93:02)Bat Fangs – Queen of My WorldIDLES – The God That FailedGeese – Low EraUltra Q – BowmanOasis- Live Forever

This is a recreation of the concert called … “The T.A.M.I. Show”. **** T.A.M.I. stands for Teenage Awards Music International. **** On October 28 and 29, 1964, an independent film production company staged a concert at the Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, CA. It featured an amazing collection of the current and most popular recording artists among teenagers: The Supremes, James Brown, and the Beach Boys. And since the “British Invasion” was in full swing, the list of performers included a number of acts from Britain, including Gerry & The Pacemakers and The Rolling Stones. Free tickets were distributed to local high school students. **** The best footage from each of the two concert-dates was edited into the film, which was released on December 29, 1964 … using technology called Electronovision and only in Black & White. There were go-go dancers, girls & boys, both black & white, performing in the background and beside the performers. There were Brits and Americans, stars and supporting acts, black and white performers, young-and-old-concertgoers. Brought together as one, in the same auditorium, bonded by rock & roll music. It was NO problem. The T.A.M.I. Show continues to be regarded as one of the best rock & roll concert-movies ever made. **** What you're about to hear, as a special presentation from The Danny Lane Music Museum, is a re-creation of that concert with the original songs from the exact same set-list. **** Jan & Dean hosted the concert and performed the show's theme song …. "Here They Come (From All Over the World)” ***** Join the conversation on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008232395712 ***** or by email at: dannymemorylane@gmail.com **** You'll hear:1) Drum Solo & Warm Up by Hal Blaine & The Wrecking Crew2) (Here They Come) From All Over The World [Rare alternate "Music City" Version] by Jan & Dean3) Johnny B. Playing a great drum solo isn't something you need to do for every gig or performance, but it really helps to know how to play an effective solo. Improving your ability to solo on your instrument will not just prep you for the moment the singer turns around and shouts "SOLO" - practicing solo techniques also helps improve your creativity and flow on your instrument. Dr Simon Rosenbaum in Gaziantep, Turkey, with participants in an exercise program for Syrian refugees. Simon Rosenbaum , Author provided (No reuse)A growing body of research is drawing a link between mental and physical health – and the connection is much stronger than you might realise. Simon Rosenbaum, a senior research fellow in school psychiatry at UNSW, had been researching the role of exercise in mental health treatment for years when he teamed up with a colleague, Ruth Wells. Wells is a PhD candidate in clinical psychology at the University of Sydney and a research fellow at the school of psychiatry at UNSW, and her research expertise focuses on the mental health of refugees. Late last year, the pair flew to Gaziantep in southern Turkey, where about one in four people are Syrian refugees. They wanted to explore what role exercise might play in improving the mental health of Syrian refugees. Full concentration – mindful bicep curls. Simon Rosenbaum, Author provided (No reuse) Today on Trust Me, I’m An Expert, we hear from Simon Rosenbaum and Ruth Wells on what they found when they got there; how exercise might fit with existing treatments for refugees with PTSD and other conditions; and how exercise can help people anywhere who are trying to improve their mental health. We’d love you to listen to the whole episode, but we’ve included a few snippets below to get you started. What does the science say on exercise and mental health? The science linking exercise and mental health. Simon demonstrates bicep curls. Simon Rosenbaum, Author provided (No reuse) Simon Rosenbaum teaches the Syrian refugee women how to do a push-up. Simon teaches female participants how to do a push-up. The work Ruth Wells and Simon Rosebaum have been doing in Gaziantep has come out of years of collaboration with their partners in the field, including Rania Said Yousef and Raiya Al Said. So a special thanks goes out to them, as well as Omar Said Yousef, Dr Ammar Beetar and the organisation Syria Bright Future. Raiya tells us that music, exercise and dance can help depression. Raiya explaining the importance of dance and exercise. Some opportunities for designing local exercise programs identified by the group. "They always leave when it gets hot in the cafe." —Man counter-protesting protestors   About: Since the turn of the millennium, the percentage of U.S.-based specialty coffee drinking folk, like those who have a cup everyday, has quadrupled. Travel to any major or minor city in the country, and you’ll see an offering of coffees that transcends the uniform Starbucks experience that’s on every block. But the image that reflects after you place a mirror in front of any craft coffee company or cafe is a bit more clear, albeit unsettling. Stare at it long enough and you’ll come across matters like gentrification, the rise of the millennial-inspired yuppie wave and the old act of global economics, power dynamics and capitalism all at play. This podcast episode explores the intricacies of coffee and attempts to answer two simple questions about one very complex drink. What makes specialty coffee special and who is it really for?
