You have to humbly accept Jesus's care over your life as he washes your feet. If you don't, Jesus says, you're going to miss him. You're not going to get him; you won't understand what he's all about. There's a difference between union and communion. Peter and the twelve were united with Christ; they were one with him. But just like you and I, their feet got dirty because they walk in a world that is fallen and broken and dirty. Journeying through this life takes a toll on us, and our souls need to be drawn in over and over again to our life with him. We need to be realigned, renewed, refreshed. We need to be washed. We need to come into communion with him again. So Jesus insists on cleaning our feet. When he cleans our feet, he's reminding us of who we are in him. You are his daughter. You are his son. You are one with him. Jesus insists on caring for us throughout our lives, washing our feet, reminding us of the intimate care and grace that's offered to us each and every day. It's a humbling thing for someone to wash our feet, but our souls are in need of the humbling reality of Christ serving us. Our pride, like Peter's, wants to rise up and demand otherwise. "You'll never wash my feet," says Peter. The flesh, our pride, always refuses, but the presence of Christ humbles us and teaches us. In this moment, he teaches us who we are and what we are to become. We are chosen. We are in him. We have union with God, and we are to participate with him as servants of God. There is union and there is communion. Our union has been forged through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ—Christ alone. Our communion is where we participate with him in who we now have become and join in on what he is now doing today. He continues to wash us even through this word, through what we're doing here right now. You may not have noticed this, but while we were hearing the word today, something else was happening, if you will. Christ was serving you, washing your feet. Ephesians 5 says we are washed by the cleansing of the Word. He's washing our feet as we listen to and respond to his word each day. Jesus says to you what he said to Peter: Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. The water of God's word washing our feet is going to be a part of our life together from here on out. Don't let your pride and flesh stand in the way of Christ serving you. And maybe next time when you come to the word, envision Jesus, the Creator of all things, washing your feet. Let it be a reminder to you that you are one with him and that we need him to renew, to restore, to clean us, and that we are loved. And let that love move beyond you into the world to others, so that you can love the way he loved and served you. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. True Biblical Worship vs. Strange Fire: What Does God Really Want? | KIB 543 DESCRIPTION Welcome to Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Episode #543 with Dr. Michael Lake and Mary Lou Lake. What does God actually desire from those who worship Him? Modern Christianity often defines worship primarily through music, singing, emotional experiences, and church services. But Scripture presents something far deeper. True biblical worship is not merely an event we attend—it is a covenant lifestyle of reverence, obedience, holiness, truth, thanksgiving, humility, service, repentance, and wholehearted devotion to God. In this episode, Dr. Michael Lake examines the biblical theology of worship from both the Old and New Testaments. Psalm 24 reveals the necessity of clean hands and a pure heart, while Jesus declares that the Father is seeking those who will worship Him "in spirit and truth." The human neshamah is compared to the daughter of a king—pure, precious, and lofty—yet placed inside a physical body filled with earthly desires. The body wants comfort, food, pleasure, materialism, and immediate gratification, while the soul longs for holiness and closeness to Hashem. Dung beetles may not be a very pleasant subject, but after all, someone has to do the housekeeping. So God created what man has classified into 30,000 species of dung beetle. Many will form their finds into a ball about the size of a croquet ball and roll it home for the wife and kids. Others tunnel beneath a find and set up housekeeping there.A purple flower in Borneo, however, cuts into the productivity of one of the tunneling species without giving it anything in return. This flower smells, not like a rose, but like dung. It relies primarily on this dung beetle for pollination. Studies show that most other pollinators will examine the flower, but perhaps put off by the smell, won't attempt to pollinate it. But the dung beetle is a successful pollinator as it searches the flower for food. The flower's unpleasant odor seems designed to do nothing other than fool the beetle into pollinating it. It apparently offers the beetle nothing.It would be nonsense to say that this flower designed this strategy to attract a beetle able to pollinate it. It would be just as silly to say that the impersonal forces of evolution designed this deceptive plant. Matthew 13:44, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” I want you to imagine for a moment coming to the end of your life, and standing before your Creator as he shows you a life of your movie. Everything you did in your entire lifetime. And imagine realizing you missed the whole point of life. Sadly, that will be many of us. Oh we’ll make it to heaven, we’ll gain our ticket of entrance into the Holy Gates – not because of a single thing we did, but all as humble and unworthy recipients of what the man on the cross did for us. But the time we had here on earth was wasted. We focused on the wrong things. We stressed about things that weren’t within our control. We rushed through the important things. And we quite simply missed the point. Here, standing with God having the experience of eternity and seeing our life as a movie, we would have a new found perspective of the time we were allotted on Earth. We would see that this entire time we were spiritual beings having our human experience. Really nothing more and nothing less. We were never bodies that just happen to also have a soul. We were first and foremost souls that were gifted these bodies for just a brief moment in the history of the world. Seeing this, knowing this, understanding this – we would be able to return to this life and get it right. With Heaven’s perspective we would know what’s truly important and what isn’t. And what is it we would have found – TREASURE. Hidden treasure. Right here in our own lives. Now, let’s read Jesus’ Parable of the Treasure again. “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Oh that God would give us a heavenly perspective, right here as our spiritual selves have our brief human experience. We would let go of everything we’ve been holding so tightly in order to obtain the real treasure. The treasure of the time and opportunities we’ve been given here of eternal importance. Once you recognize what is truly valuable, your entire definition of a good life changes. WHAT IF YOU COULD SEE THE TREASURE NOW? What if God could give you just a glimpse today of what you will understand when this life is over? What if you could see your life from Heaven’s perspective—not to make you feel guilty about what you’ve done, but to help you recognize what actually matters while you still have time to do something about it? I think we would be shocked. We would look at the things we spent so much time worrying about and wonder, ‘Why did I give that so much of my attention?’ We would look at the things we were chasing and say, ‘Why did I think that would make me happy?’ We would look at the things we were so afraid of losing and realize, ‘Those things were never mine to keep anyway.’ And then we would see the things we almost missed. That conversation that was the last one, when we didn’t know it was the last one. The sunset we were too busy to notice. The person God put in our path. The chance to say, “I love you.” The ordinary Monday that we rushed through because we were waiting for something more exciting to happen. And we would realize: THAT was the treasure. Not the bigger house. Not the nicer car. Not the perfect body. Not the job title. Not the bank account. Not the perfectly organized life. Those things aren’t necessarily bad. But they were never the point. The treasure was hidden in the middle of the life God has already given us. And isn’t that exactly what Jesus says? The man finds treasure hidden in a field. He doesn’t have to travel across the world to find it. He doesn’t have to manufacture it. He doesn’t have to earn it. He discovers something of incredible value that was already there. I wonder how much treasure is already buried in your life. THE TREASURE IS OFTEN ORDINARY We tend to think God’s best things must be big things. A big calling. A big breakthrough. A big adventure. A big answer to prayer. But some of the most eternally significant things God will ever do through you may look incredibly ordinary while you’re doing them. A meal around your table. A prayer whispered over someone who is hurting. A simple phone call you make time for. A child who knows they are loved. A stranger who experiences kindness. A person who comes to Jesus because they watched you live differently. A quiet morning where you opened God’s Word instead of opening your phone. These moments don’t look impressive on Instagram. But Heaven doesn’t measure life the way Instagram does. Heaven knows the value of things Earth overlooks. And that changes the question we should be asking. Instead of: “How can I make my life bigger?” Maybe the better question is: “How can I make my life matter?” Instead of: “What can I accomplish?” Ask: “Who can I love?” Instead of: “What can I accumulate?” Ask: “What can I give?” Instead of: “How can I protect my time?” Ask: “What is God asking me to do with the time I’ve been given?” Because someday, every single one of us will discover that time was the most valuable thing we ever possessed—and we were spending it every single day. WHAT ARE YOU TRADING YOUR LIFE FOR? The man in Jesus’ story discovers the treasure and then does something radical. He sells everything he has. Why? Because he finally understands value. He isn’t making a sacrifice because he’s miserable. He does it “in his joy.” That’s important. When you really understand the value of the Kingdom, surrender doesn’t feel like losing. It feels like trading up. You aren’t giving up your life. You’re finally learning what your life is for. And maybe that’s the question Jesus wants to put in front of us today: What are you trading your life for? Because you are trading it for something. Every day. Your time is being spent. Your attention is being spent. Your energy is being spent. Your thoughts are being spent. The question isn’t whether you are spending your life. The question is: Are you spending it on what is actually valuable? Because you can spend your entire life building something that disappears in an instant. Or you can spend your life investing in things that outlive you. HEAVEN’S PERSPECTIVE CHANGES TODAY And here’s the beautiful part: We don’t have to wait until Heaven to get Heaven’s perspective. We can ask God for it now. “God, show me what I’m missing. Show me what I’m holding too tightly. Show me what I’m worrying about that doesn’t matter. Show me where I’m wasting time. Show me who needs me. Show me what I need to release. Show me the treasure that is already buried in the life You’ve given me.” Because maybe your life doesn’t need a complete overhaul. Maybe you don’t need a new house, a new job, a new relationship, or a new body. Maybe you need new eyes. Maybe the ordinary life you’ve been overlooking is the very life God wants you to live intentionally. Maybe the people you’ve been taking for granted are the treasure. Maybe the time you’ve been wasting is the treasure. Maybe the season you’re complaining about is carrying something God wants to teach you. Maybe the field you’ve been looking past is the field where the treasure is buried. SO WHAT DO WE DO WITH THIS TODAY? Look at your life today and ask: What matters for eternity? Then do more of that. Who matters for eternity? Love them. What relationship needs attention? Give it attention. What conversation have you been putting off? Have it. What grudge are you carrying? Release it. What’s keeping you distracted? Put it down. What has God been asking you to do? Stop negotiating and do it. What are you constantly worrying about that you cannot control? Give it to God. And what ordinary, beautiful thing have you been rushing past? Slow down long enough to see it. Because one day, we will see this life differently. We will understand what mattered. We will understand what didn’t. And I don’t want to wait until then. I want to recognize the treasure now. I want to live today like the woman I will wish I had been when I see my life from Heaven. Because the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. And perhaps the most incredible thing about the parable isn’t that the treasure was there. It’s that the man found it. Maybe that’s what Jesus is inviting us to do today. Look again. Look at your life. Look at your people. Look at your time. Look at your opportunities. Look at this very ordinary Monday. Day 2923 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 150:1-6 Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2923 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2923 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Cosmic Crescendo – Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord! On our previous expedition—on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Two—we explored the fourth movement of the "Final Hallel" in Psalm One Hundred Forty-Nine. We marveled at the powerful, revolutionary posture of God's faithful ones, who sing a new song of victory, rejoice on their beds of rest, and carry both the high praises of God in their mouths and the two-edged sword of divine truth in their hands to execute the written judgments of heaven. Today, on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Three of our trek, we reach the ultimate summit, the grand finale, and the absolute crown of the entire Book of Psalms: Psalm One Hundred Fifty, verses one through six. This brief, six-verse hymn is the grand crescendo toward which all one hundred forty-nine preceding psalms have been steadily marching. The tears of lament, the pleas for rescue in dark caves, the struggles against deceptive enemies, the prayers for direction, and the celebrations of royal victory all dissolve into one uninhibited, all-encompassing, galactic explosion of pure praise. In this final psalm, we are given the ultimate masterclass in worship, answering the four fundamental questions of praise: where to praise, why to praise, how to praise, and who should praise. The Dual Sanctuary: Praise in the Heavenly and Earthly Courts Let us open our ears to the thunderous opening salvo of this final psalm, as recorded in the New Living Translation, grouping together the logical, contiguous thoughts found in verse one and verse two. Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! The psalmist launches this final doxology with an explosive series of commands, shouting, “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!” He then immediately provides the unshakeable foundation for this worship, declaring, “Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness!” Notice how verse one answers the critical question of where God is to be praised! The psalmist points to two interconnected locations: "in his sanctuary" and "in his mighty heavens." To fully appreciate the spiritual magnitude of this pairing, we must view it through the Ancient Israelite divine-council worldview. In ancient biblical theology, the earthly sanctuary—the tabernacle, and later the temple in Jerusalem—was understood to be a physical micro-copy and Earthly anchor of the true, celestial temple in heaven. When the psalmist calls for praise in both the earthly sanctuary and the "mighty heavens"—or literally, the raqia, the radiant dome of the sky—he is calling for a complete synchronization of the two realms! He is summoning the human worshipper on earth to lift their voice in perfect harmony with the angelic hosts, the seraphim, and the heavenly assembly gathered around the supreme throne of Yahweh. Then, in verse two, the psalmist answers the question of why we offer this praise! We praise Him for two distinct reasons: His actions and His character. We praise Him for His "mighty works"—His tangible, historical acts of creation, deliverance, covenant-keeping, and redemption. And we praise Him for His "unequaled greatness"—His inherent, infinite, unsearchable majesty that sets Him completely apart from every created entity, every earthly monarch, and every rival spiritual power in existence. He stands entirely without equal! The Full Symphony of Sacred Sound: The Heavenly Orchestra The narrative now transitions into a magnificent, detailed blueprint answering the question of how God is to be praised, weaving together every category of musical instrument in verse three, verse four, and verse five. Praise him with a blast of the ram's horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud, clanging cymbals! The psalmist unleashes a dizzying, symphonic array of instruments, commanding, “Praise him with a blast of the ram's horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud, clanging cymbals!” Look at the astonishing variety and sensory richness of this worship band! The psalmist intentionally gathers instruments from every sphere of Israelite life to create a total, unrestricted environment of praise. He begins with the shofar—the ram's horn—whose piercing, resonant blast was blown by priests to announce sacred assemblies, signal royal coronations, and sound the charge on the day of battle. He then adds the delicate, melodic elegance of royal court music: the lyre, the harp, wind flutes, and plucked stringed instruments. Furthermore, he brings in the joyous, rhythmic percussion of village celebrations: the tambourine, expressive communal dancing, and the metallic, reverberating crash of loud, clanging cymbals! In the ancient world, different instruments were often reserved for specific social classes or localized rituals. The elite played the lyre; the priests blew the shofar; the women danced with tambourines. But here, in the grand finale of the Psalter, all artificial boundaries are completely demolished! Every sound, every rhythm, every melody, every instrument, and every cultural art form is recruited into one massive, glorious, roaring avalanche of sacred sound, dedicated entirely to the King of kings. The Universal Anthem: Everything That Has Breath Having established where to praise, why to praise, and how to praise, the psalmist reaches the final, climactic verse of the entire Book of Psalms, answering the ultimate question of who should praise in verse six. Let everything that lives and breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! With one final, breathless, cosmic shout that echoes across the centuries, the psalmist closes the entire collection, commanding, “Let everything that lives and breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” What a staggering, magnificent climax to this multi-month journey through the psalter! The Hebrew phrase used here for "everything that lives and breathes" is kol ha-neshamah—literally, every single breath! This single line brings the entire biblical narrative full circle. Way back in Genesis chapter two, Yahweh bent down into the dust of the earth and breathed the neshamah—the divine breath of life—into human nostrils, animating humanity to become living souls. Now, at the end of the Book of Psalms, the purpose of that breath is fully disclosed! Every lungful of oxygen you inhale, every pulse of air that moves past your vocal cords, and every breath taken by every living creature across the entire planet is designed for one supreme purpose: to return to its Creator in grateful, joyous adoration! Notice how this final verse connects seamlessly with the journey we have taken together through the "Final Hallel," from Psalm One Hundred Forty-Six through One Hundred Fifty. In Psalm One Hundred Forty-Six, the psalmist vowed, "I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath." In Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight, he called upon the stars, the stormy winds, the sea monsters, and human kings to praise the Lord. Now, here in Psalm One Hundred Fifty, all individual voices, all instruments, all celestial beings, all earthly creatures, and all breathing life unite into one final, eternal Hallelujah! As we stand at the summit of this magnificent book today, let us carry this ultimate legacy of wisdom into our daily lives. Whatever wilderness you are trekking through, whatever dark caves you have lived in, and whatever mountains you must climb, remember the ultimate destination of your story. You were created by an infinite, loving God; you were redeemed by His mighty works; and your very breath belongs to Him. Genesis 1–3 reveals God as the purposeful Creator who formed the world in an orderly way, declared His creation very good, and created mankind in His image to live in relationship with Him and steward His creation. Mankind was given meaningful work, marriage, companionship, and responsibility as part of God's original design, with obedience to God at the center of life and flourishing. However, Satan introduced deception and doubt about God's Word, leading the woman to be deceived and Adam to knowingly disobey God. Through sin came spiritual death, separation from God, shame, fear, broken relationships, difficulty in work and childbirth, corruption in creation, and ultimately physical death. Yet God's response to the fall revealed both justice and mercy: He cared for Adam and Eve in their fallen condition, prevented them from living forever in that condition, and promised that the offspring of the woman would ultimately defeat Satan. Chabad Chassidus is an all-embracing world outlook and way of life which sees the Jew's central purpose as a unifying link between the Creator and His world. Written by the Alter Rebbe, the founder of Chabad, Tanya is the central text of Chabad Chassidus. It shows the reader a path to realizing their purpose and developing a deeper relationship with G-d. Her Hidden Names by Autumn Dickson Esther's story is one of courage. She is a remarkable woman who was placed in humble circumstances and rose to save her people. In a land that often looked down upon Jews, Esther's heritage should have prevented her from being able to save her people. And yet, she rose to prominence was guided by the hand of the Lord. Here is one verse that introduces Esther and sets the foundation for what I want to talk about. Esther 2:7 And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter. In this verse, we learn that Esther's given Hebrew name was “Hadassah.” In an effort to protect her, her name was changed to “Esther,” a Persian name. Jews were often looked down upon, discredited, and hated. Having a Persian name would have protected Esther from some of the prejudice she would face in court. There is beautiful significance in the fact that Esther changed her name. “Hadassah” means “myrtle.” The myrtle was a fragrant, humble evergreen plant often symbolizing righteousness, peace, beauty, or God's people in biblical imagery. Esther was many of these things, and she rose to represent all of her people. The name “Esther” was also significant. Its Persian roots connect it to the word “star” which she certainly rose to be. Interestingly enough, the name “Esther” also has Hebrew roots, but those Hebrew roots mean “hidden.” Esther's names, with their many meanings, all tell her story very well. It also connects her back to Christ. Esther was placed in a position to save her people. So much of her identity was “hidden” so that she could fulfill her role to save her people. Had her true identity been known, she may have been barred from being queen due to prejudice. In the Old Testament, Christ is known as Jehovah, a latinized version of “YHWH.” This means, “I am.” It is a powerful statement of our Creator. It emphasizes self-existence, sovereignty, and eternal nature. When He comes to the earth, His name is revealed to Mary as “Jesus.” Jesus is the English version of Yeshua, which is a shortened version of Yehoshua. Yehoshua means “YHWH saves.” When Christ came to earth, He did so quietly. Much of His identity was hidden. It was so hidden that the people in Nazareth, who knew Him while He was growing up, rejected Him thoroughly. They were angry when He claimed divine authority and purpose, and they tried to kill Him. If He had come in all of His glory, would things have been different? How would they have felt about Him then? If He had come in all of His glory, He might not have been rejected and put in a position to save us. On a broader note than Nazareth, many of the Jews didn't recognize Him. They were looking for a powerful rebel who would throw off the Roman empire. They did not understand that Jesus was coming to save them in a more important way. Because He didn't come in all of the glory that was due to Him, He was betrayed and rejected. And though He didn't deserve it, we needed it. We needed His true identity to be rejected so that He would be able to fulfill His atonement on our behalf. His “hidden” identity placed Him in a position to save the entirety of the human family. Let's take it a step further. Esther's hidden identity placed her in a position to save her people, but it wasn't just her hidden identity. It was also her humility. Because of her docile and peaceful nature, the king really liked her. When she entered the throne room, the king extended his scepter towards her, sparing her life. Even after being spared, her humility continued. Rather than making a big fuss in the middle of court, she invited the king and Haman to a banquet. At the banquet, her request on behalf of her people was not widely viewed. This likewise ties her to Christ. When Christ saved the world, He did it quietly and without fanfare. As He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane, He may have had an audience on the other side of the veil, but they were likewise hidden. His only companions fell asleep, and Christ accomplished His mission humbly. When it was all over, His success remained quiet as He was betrayed and taken to die. Not even His apostles seemed to understand just what He accomplished in that garden. Both Esther and Christ had identities that were hidden that placed them in a position to save. Both Esther and Christ did so quietly and humbly, and this likewise enabled them to fulfill their missions. What does this mean for us? Each of us has a mission given to us by the Lord. We made promises before we came here. The Lord can place us in the position we need to be in to set us up for our mission. Regardless of whether we are born as an exiled, lowly orphan or born in a stable, He has the power to place us exactly where we need to be. Though it is counterintuitive, sometimes it is the very humble circumstances we are given that enables us to fulfill our own personal missions. Christ utilized kings like Cyrus and Hezekiah to save His people, but He also used those in the humblest circumstances to save His people. None of your circumstances matter; those are easy enough for the Lord to manipulate. What truly matters is whether you're following the Savior. Your mission may be quiet and humble, but if that is the case, then you are in good company. We don't have to go over a loudspeaker to save His people. It doesn't have to look outwardly dramatic. It doesn't have to be filmed or livestreamed or hold a huge audience. We simply have to be willing to follow the Savior, and He will lead us to do good. I testify that we can learn about Christ when we study the scriptures. I testify that everything was set up perfectly for Him to save us, not just with the alignment of circumstances in the New Testament, but also in your own personal life. There is a Plan of Salvation at large, and it has been successfully won. There is also a Plan of Salvation for you, and through the power of God, the circumstances can align for Him to save you too. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The Title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The New Song of High Praise and Two-Edged Swords – The Sovereign Triumph of the Faithful On our previous expedition—on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty—we stood in awe before the majestic, sweeping panoramic view of Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight. We listened as the psalmist summoned the entire cosmos into one massive, harmonious choir, calling upon angels, stars, sea creatures, stormy winds, snow, fruit trees, wild beasts, kings, maidens, and little children to join in shouting praises to the exalted name of Yahweh! Today, as we step onto Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Two of our ongoing trek through the Book of Psalms, we advance directly into the fourth movement of the “Final Hallel”—Psalm One Hundred Forty-Nine, verses one through nine. If Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight was the universal, cosmic anthem of all creation, Psalm One Hundred Forty-Nine zeroes in with laser-like focus upon the specialized role of God's covenant people, the chasidim—His faithful ones. In these nine powerful verses, we discover a striking, revolutionary synthesis that will challenge our understanding of spiritual authority: a movement that weaves together vibrant, exuberant worship with the execution of divine, cosmic justice. The first segment is: The New Song in the Assembly: Exulting in Our Maker and King Let us open our ears to the joyful invitation that opens this psalm, as recorded in the New Living Translation, grouping together the deeply connected thoughts in verse one, verse two, and verse three. Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful. O Israel, rejoice in your Maker. Rejoice, O people of Jerusalem, in your King. Praise his name with dancing; celebrate him with tambourines and harps. The psalmist begins with an energetic, soul-stirring blast of praise, exclaiming, “Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful!” He then immediately directs the heart of the community toward their true identity, declaring, “O Israel, rejoice in your Maker. Rejoice, O people of Jerusalem, in your King. Praise his name with dancing; celebrate him with tambourines and harps.” Notice the specific context established in these opening lines! The worship called for here is not merely private, solitary devotion; it is explicitly located “in the assembly of the faithful”—the kahal chasidim. This is the corporate gathering of those who are bound to Yahweh by covenant loyalty. They are commanded to sing a “new song”—a shir chadash—which, throughout the Old Testament, always signifies a fresh anthem composed in response to a newly experienced, mighty act of divine deliverance! To appreciate this through the ancient Israelite divine-council worldview, consider the titles given to God here: He is both “Maker” and “King.” The surrounding pagan nations bowed before earthly tyrants and territorial deities who claimed to be rulers of the land. But Israel's true King is the very Master of the divine council—the uncreated Creator who spoke the universe into existence! When the covenant community gathers to dance, beat tambourines, and play harps, they are not engaged in mindless ritual; they are holding a joyous royal court celebration, publicly declaring that their ultimate allegiance belongs solely to the supreme Sovereign of heaven and earth. The second segment is: Crowned with Salvation: Rejoicing on the Beds of Rest The narrative now transitions from public, expressive celebration to the deep, intimate affection that Yahweh harbors for His humble servants, combining the logical thoughts found in verse four and verse five. For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds. The psalmist pulls back the curtain on the heart of God, declaring, “For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.” What an astonishing, deeply comforting reality! The supreme Ruler of the cosmos—the One who commands trillions of stars—takes genuine, personal delight in His people! Look at who He elevates: not the proud, arrogant conquerors of the world, but the anavim—the humble, the lowly, and the gentle. He takes those whom the world dismisses and “crowns them with victory”—or as the Hebrew word yeshua implies, He decks them with salvation, deliverance, and royal beauty! And notice where this joy spills over in verse five: “Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.” In the ancient world, lying on one's bed was a posture of vulnerability, rest, and private reflection in the quiet hours of the night. In earlier psalms, like Psalm One Hundred Forty-Two, the night and the isolated places were associated with deep anxiety, tears, and hiding from enemies in cold caves. But now, under the secure reign of Yahweh, even the bedroom becomes a sanctuary of peace and quiet exultation! The faithful can lie down in safety, resting in divine honor, breaking into spontaneous songs of joy in the middle of the night because their King keeps watch over them. The third segment is: The Dual Weapon: High Praises and the Two-Edged Sword The narrative takes a dramatic, intense turn in verse six and verse seven, introducing a startling juxtaposition that bridges the atmosphere of praise with the arena of cosmic combat. Let the praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, The text shifts from sweet lullabies on night beds to high-stakes spiritual warfare, proclaiming, “Let the praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,” Look at this extraordinary dual posture! In one breath, the faithful have the “high praises” of God in their throats; in the next, they hold a sharp, two-edged sword—a cherev pipiyot—in their hands! To modern ears, combining joyous worship music with hand-to-hand weaponry sounds jarring, but in the biblical worldview, worship and warfare are two sides of the exact same coin. When viewed through the ancient Israelite divine-council framework, this passage carries profound theological depth. In the ancient worldview, the hostile pagan nations were governed by rebellious spiritual principalities—lesser gods who incited human empires to wage war against Yahweh's order and His covenant people. The “vengeance” and “punishment” spoken of here are not acts of personal malice, bitter revenge, or lawless vigilantism. Rather, they represent the enforcement of divine, covenant justice! Praise is not merely an emotional release; it is a spiritual weapon that declares the supremacy of Yahweh, disarming the dark spi“itual pow”rs, w“ile the sw”rd of truth cuts through systemic human rebellion, enforcing the sovereign decrees issued by the heavenly court. The fourth segment is: The Written Judgment: The Glorious Privilege of the Saints The psalmist brings this powerful, martial hymn to its ultimate climax, weaving together the contiguous thoughts in verse eight and verse nine. to bind their kings with chains and their leaders with iron shackles, to execute the judgment written against them. This is the glorious privilege of his faithful ones. Praise the Lord! The psalmist describes the complete overthrow of corrupt power structures, declaring that the saints are called, “to bind their kings with chains and their leaders with iron shackles, to execute the judgment written against them. This is the glorious privilege of his faithful ones. Praise the Lord!” Look at the absolute authority described here! The proud monarchs, oppressive tyrants, and elite leaders of the earth—who previously thought themselves completely invincible above the law—are bound in iron...

Those who believe that the universe, the earth and everything on it are the result of mindless evolution are hard-pressed to explain the origin of intelligence. Some even try to argue that there is no such thing as intelligence, saying that we only think that certain things reflect intelligence. As we learn more about the world, it takes an even greater faith to believe in evolution.The incredible structure of DNA and how it works is one example. Scientists have now demonstrated, though they did not intend to do so, that DNA is itself infused with intelligence. In 1994, it was discovered that DNA could be used as a computer. Since then, much has been learned about the computing power of DNA.For example, how can DNA be used to solve the problem of finding a flight path between seven cities so that each city is visited only once? To solve the problem, researchers assign a numerical value to individual strands of DNA. Through a series of steps, they allow the strands of DNA to interact with each other, saving the results after each step. An electronic computer can solve a math problem with 30 clauses and fifty variables in 1.6 million steps. A DNA computer can solve the same problem in only 91 steps!DNA computers would not be possible unless intelligence was built into the very fabric of the creation. What happens to creator loyalty when somebody delivers the work, attracts an audience, and then waits weeks to be paid? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I speak with Rob Israch, President at Tipalti, about the payment infrastructure supporting the creator economy. Platforms may be able to add thousands of creators quickly, but the systems behind onboarding, tax collection, approvals, global payouts, communication, and reconciliation often struggle to keep pace. Rob cites research suggesting 87 percent of creators have experienced late payments. For a creator, payment is a direct test of whether a platform values their contribution. Delays, incorrect amounts, limited payment methods, or receiving funds in the wrong currency can damage trust and encourage successful creators to take their audiences elsewhere. This makes the payout experience part of creator retention. A platform may offer excellent creative tools and attractive commercial opportunities, but those benefits are easily undermined when creators have to chase payment updates or submit the same information repeatedly. Global growth adds another layer of difficulty. Rob explains that payment teams may need to account for approximately 26,000 rules, varying tax identification requirements, local payment methods, currency preferences, fraud checks, and screening against over five sanctions databases. If the correct information is not collected during onboarding, payment errors can increase by two or three times. The resulting problem concerns the complete workflow. Creator information must be collected securely, tax details validated, payment recipients screened, approvals completed, funds delivered through the preferred method, and every transaction reconciled with accounting systems. Creators also need timely communication when a payment is attempted, completed, delayed, or rejected. We discuss how automation can connect those stages and reduce the manual work that causes errors. Rob also describes practical roles for AI, including more responsive onboarding, automated fraud detection, tax validation, and immediate answers to payment-status questions. These capabilities can reduce support requests while giving finance teams more time to examine performance, risk, and growth. They also provide creators with something remarkably valuable: confidence that they will be paid accurately and kept informed when a problem occurs. Day 2920 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 148:1-14 Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2920 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2920 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Cosmic Choir – When Creation and Heavenly Hosts Unite in Praise On our previous trek together, on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Eighteen, we stood in holy awe as we completed Psalm One Hundred Forty-Seven. We witnessed how Yahweh fortifies the gates of Jerusalem, satisfies His people with the finest wheat, and commands the swift operations of nature—sending snow like white wool, hurling hail like stones, and then thawing the frozen wilderness with a single warm breath of His word! We marveled at how the God who controls the winter weather uniquely revealed His sacred decrees to Jacob. Today, as we step onto Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty of our trek, we enter the third breathtaking movement of the “Final Hallel”—Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight, verses one through fourteen. In our last study, the focus was centered on how God interacts with Jerusalem and the natural elements. But today, the aperture of divine revelation opens to its absolute maximum width! Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight is nothing short of a cosmic summons—a grand, universal invitation issued by the psalmist to every single layer of reality. From the highest spiritual throne rooms of heaven, down through the sun, moon, and blazing stars, past the deep ocean trenches and stormy winds, and all the way to earthly kings, young maidens, and little children! Every created entity in existence is called to join one massive, harmonious symphony of adoration for the Sovereign Creator. The first segment is: The Cosmic Liturgy of the Highest Heavens Let us open our ears to the celestial call that begins this cosmic liturgy, as recorded in the New Living Translation, grouping together the logical, contiguous thoughts found in verse one, verse two, verse three, verse four, verse five, and verse six. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies! Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven! Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, highest heavens, and the waters above the highest heavens. Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For he commanded and they were created. He established them forever and ever. His decree will never be revoked. The psalmist begins this song at the highest possible altitude, shouting into the celestial realm: “Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies!” He calls upon the angels, the armies of heaven, the sun, moon, shining stars, highest heavens, and the waters above to lift their voices in praise, because Yahweh commanded and they were created, establishing them by a decree that can never be revoked. To fully appreciate the vast, stunning scope of this opening movement, we must view these verses through the Ancient Israelite divine-council worldview. In the ancient Near East, neighboring pagan nations bowed down in fear to the sun, the moon, and the stars. They worshipped the heavenly bodies as autonomous, supreme deities who controlled human destiny. Furthermore, they viewed the “armies of heaven”—the Sabaoth—as divine powers competing for cosmic dominance. But the psalmist shatters all pagan mythology with a single theological hammer blow! The sun, moon, stars, angels, and celestial hosts are not independent gods! They are created beings, members of Yahweh's heavenly assembly, who owe their very existence to His single creative command. When God spoke in Genesis, He established their assigned order, set their boundaries, and issued a cosmic decree that can never be revoked. Therefore, the stars do not rule over us; rather, along with the angelic council, they function as a radiant choir, continuously singing praises to their ultimate Master and Creator. The second segment is: The Earthly Symphony: Ocean Depths, Weather, and Wild Spaces The narrative now descends with magnificent grace from the highest spiritual heavens down to the terrestrial realm of earth, combining the logical, contiguous thoughts found in verse seven, verse eight, verse nine, and verse ten. Praise the Lord from the earth, you creatures of the ocean depths, fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather that obey him, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying creatures and flying birds. Having summoned the celestial choir, the psalmist turns his face toward the earth, calling upon the creatures of the ocean depths, the fire, hail, snow, storm clouds, obedience-rendering winds, majestic mountains, fruit trees, wild beasts, livestock, scurrying creatures, and soaring birds to join the song of praise. Notice how beautifully this section connects with what we studied in Psalm One Hundred Forty-Seven! In our previous episode, we marveled at how God hurls hail like stones and sends snow like white wool. Here in Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight, those exact weather elements—fire, hail, snow, clouds, and stormy winds—are described as active servants that directly “obey him.” Even the wild, chaotic forces of creation are obedient ministers of His sovereign will! Look, too, at who leads the earthly praise: “you creatures of the ocean depths.” In ancient Near Eastern mythology, the deep oceans and great sea dragons—the tanninim—were viewed as terrifying, chaotic monsters that threatened to destroy cosmic order. But in the biblical worldview, these sea creatures are merely playful, awe-inspiring creations of Yahweh, positioned in the deepest oceanic trenches to offer Him silent, profound worship! From the massive mountain peaks down to the smallest scurrying creature In the forest brush, all of nature functions as an unblemished, living sanctuary of praise. The third segment is: The Human Chorus: Monarchs, Elders, and Youth The psalmist now brings the focus of creation's praise directly to humanity, grouping together the logical thoughts found in verse eleven and verse twelve. Kings of the earth and all people, rulers and judges of the world, young men and young women, old people and children. The call to worship reaches its human climax, urging kings of the earth, all people, global rulers, judges, young men, young women, senior citizens, and little children to lift their voices together in unity. Consider the radical, revolutionary egalitarianism of these two verses! In the ancient world—and indeed in many societies today—humanity was deeply fractured by social class, political power, gender, and age. Earthly kings and judges sat on opulent thrones, claiming divine authority and demanding that lesser subjects bow before them. But when Yahweh steps into the room, all human artificial hierarchies completely collapse! The earthly king stands on the exact same ground as the young child; the powerful judge stands alongside the young maiden; the elderly citizen stands next to the energetic youth. Why? Because before the infinite, unsearchable majesty of the Creator, every human being is equally a dust-creature, made in the divine image, and called to offer worship. No earthly ruler possesses ultimate sovereignty. All political authority on earth is subject to the Supreme Court of Heaven, and every human heart—regardless of age, status, or title—finds its true dignity when bowing before the Lord of all. The fourth segment is: The Towering Name and the Horn of the Covenant The psalmist brings this breathtaking, universal symphony to its ultimate, triumphant crescendo, weaving together the contiguous thoughts in verse thirteen and verse fourteen. Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven! He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the Lord! With a triumphant shout, the...

While Jesus walked this earth, he taught us the truths of God and the secrets of living well. In just 3 years of ministry he said everything he needed to say, and he said it perfectly. Now, over 2000 years later, his words are our perfect guide for life. Some of Jesus’ teachings were on deeply spiritual things that he knew we would struggle to understand. Not all things needed to be understood, but for some things we would need to understand so we could live well. For these things, Jesus often taught in parables. Parables are stories. The word parable means “to throw alongside”. So, Jesus is teaching using a story thrown alongside a truth. These are earthly stories with Heavenly meaning. Today, we begin our study of the parables of Jesus. We will read the stories he told, understand them, and apply them to our lives so we grow and get better. Through these parables we will see how a holy God speaks to ordinary people with everyday stories we can see, understand and remember. Some things God says are mysteries and simply cannot be figured out – but these are not. God essentially leaned down and brought his wisdom in a way we would actually get it. (Now you will notice with these parables, they are often found in a few of the gospels. Remember the 4 gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the accounts of 4 of Jesus’ disciples as they walked with him. They are retelling everything they saw, experienced, heard and learned from Jesus. So, you may read the same parable in the gospels and that’s why. For simplicity, I’ll just be choosing one of the gospel accounts and reading it. You could also study the other books to see if there’s any special differences noted by the authors.) Ready to get it? Let’s dive in to the Parables of Jesus! —————— Part 1: The Parable of the Sower Scripture: Matthew 13: 1-23 Here’s the setting. Jesus is in his 3 years of actively teaching and preaching here on earth and more and more people are beginning to follow him. On this particular day Jesus was staying at a house near the sea and when he walks outside a large crowd starts gathering around him. So, Jesus gets in a boat, goes out a little on the water and sits down in the boat to start teaching. The crowd of people stood on the beach to listen. First, just knowing that the King of the Universe, the Savior of the world, the divine Creator in human form didn’t choose a fancy synagogue like all the other teachers. He didn’t choose a formal stage or a platform. No, he chose a boat floating on the sea, wearing his ordinary robe and sandals like everyone else there that day. We see through this example that Jesus really didn’t come to judge the world, he came to save it. In humility, he met us right where we are to teach us the highest of lessons. And here, in this boat, is where Jesus begins teaching in parables – again earthly stories with heavenly meaning. “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” That was Jesus’ story. But what was the point in this? Was he giving a gardening lesson? For some listening, it would seem like nothing more than that – but for those God was calling to follow him and setting apart as his people, he was speaking in a way they could truly understand. Everyone in this day understood farming. Everyone had to grow crops to survive. Their survival depended on a successful harvest. They knew seeds, they knew soils. And for those who were called as followers of God, he was about to open their minds to how his word works in their lives through the example of the sower, the seed and the soils. The disciples heard Jesus’ story and came to him asking why he was speaking in such a different way, then Jesus explains the story. The seed is the word of God. This seed falls on 4 different types of soil, and it is the soil that makes all the difference. It’s the same seed. The same sower. Different soil. ————— Soil #1: The Path Verse 19, “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.” Do you ever read your Bible, skim the words, get through the whole chapter so you can check the box, but not actually understand it? Yip, that’s seed hitting the soil along the path. That’s seed that won’t grow. That’s knowledge that quickly gets snatched up by the evil one. He swoops in like a bird and takes the surface level seed. Growing in God’s word isn’t about speed reading and getting through chapters. That’s just the path – that’s where everyone is walking – that’s ground that can’t really grow anything. If it’s worn with traffic, fast moving ground, it’s not growing ground. Surface level knowledge of God’s word will get snatched up every time by the evil one. Satan knows the life changing power of the Bible even more than you do – that’s why he continually tries to hinder you from really diving into it. He’s perfectly fine with you keeping it on the surface, speed reading to check a box, and never have it actually grow in your life. Life doesn’t change on the soil of the busy path. The seed never changes. The Sower never changes. The harvest is determined by the soil. ————— Soil #2: The Rocky Ground Verses 20-21, “As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.” Rocky soil is shallow dirt mixed in with rocks. This little bit of soil warms quickly with the sun and the rocks, creating fast growth of the new seed, but it simply won’t last. The rocks keep the seed from ever growing roots. While it sprouts up fast, the first hard rain will wash it right out. That can be us. We can get all excited about what God says to us, we can be all gung ho in the beginning, convinced we’re going to really do it this time, but as soon as life gets hard and the storms hit, we just get washed right out. Life hits and we’re out – why? Because our soil was rocky and allowed for no permanent growth. Everything was temporary and short lived. Have you noticed how you get excited fast but fizzle? That’s rocky ground. There’s ground work to be done. The seed never changes. The Sower never changes. The harvest is determined by the soil. ————— Soil #3: Thorns Verse 22, “As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” Notice something. The seed actually grows here. This isn’t the path where nothing happens. This isn’t the rocky soil where it dies immediately. The plant starts growing, it just never produces what it was created to produce. Why? Because something else is growing right beside it. Jesus says the thorns are “the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t have to plant weeds. Have you ever noticed that? You can spend all weekend pulling weeds out of your flower beds, and two weeks later they’re back like they own the place. You never planted them. You never watered them. You never invited them. They just showed up. Our hearts work the same way. Nobody wakes up and says, “Today I’d really like to become anxious.” Nobody decides, “I’m going to slowly make my job my identity.” Nobody plans to let social media steal their contentment. The weeds just grow. The bills. The schedules. The kids. The comparisons. The endless to-do lists. The pursuit of more. The fear of not having enough. The pressure to keep everyone happy. None of these things may be sinful by themselves… But together they quietly choke what God is trying to grow. Notice Jesus didn’t say the thorns killed the believer. He said they made them unfruitful. You can know Jesus, love Jesus, go to church, read your Bible… And still have a life where God’s Word never reaches its full potential because everything else is competing for your attention. Maybe today isn’t about planting more seed. Maybe it’s about pulling weeds. Sometimes growth doesn’t require adding one more Bible study. Sometimes it requires removing what has been choking the life out of the one you’re already doing. The seed never changes. The Sower never changes. The harvest is determined by the soil. —————— Soil #4: The Good Soil Verse 23, “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” This is beautiful. Notice Jesus doesn’t say good soil is perfect soil. He simply says it receives the seed. It welcomes it. It protects it. It gives it room. It lets it sink deep. It keeps coming back day after day. And eventually… Fruit. That’s God’s goal. Not information. Transformation. God isn’t trying to make you a Bible trivia champion. He’s trying to make you look more like Jesus. Fruit takes time. An apple tree doesn’t apologize because it didn’t produce apples the week after it was planted. Growth is slow. Roots grow before fruit shows. Sometimes you’ll wonder if anything is happening at all. Keep showing up. Keep reading. Keep praying. Keep obeying. The roots are growing even when you can’t see them. And one day the fruit everyone sees will simply be the evidence of what God has been growing underground all along. So today… Which soil are you? Actually… That’s the wrong question. The better question is… Which soil is your heart today? Maybe today you’ve been living on the busy path. God’s Word has stayed on the surface because you’ve been rushing from one thing to the next. Maybe today your heart is rocky. You love the excitement of following Jesus until life gets hard. Maybe today you’ve got weeds. Not terrible sins. Just too many things competing for your heart. Or maybe… By God’s grace… Your heart is becoming good soil. Not perfect. Just open. Soft. Hungry. Ready. Here’s the best news of this whole parable: Soil can change. A hard path can be broken up. Rocks can be removed. Thorns can be pulled. The condition of your heart today does not have to be the condition of your heart tomorrow. So before you close your Bible today, don’t just ask, “What did I learn?” Ask, “God, what kind of soil is my heart today… and what do You want to do with it?” Because the seed never changes. The Sower never changes. But when the soil changes… Everything changes. “Lord, soften whatever has become hard. Remove whatever is keeping me shallow. Pull whatever is choking my growth.
