Ushered in by the restrictions and needs of the Pandemic, remote work and telehealth have become welcomed realities for people across the globe. In this show Dr. Haim Weinberg, Licensed Psychologist, Certified Group Psychotherapist, co-author of Theory and Practice of Online Therapy, Advances in Online Therapy: Emergence of a New Paradigm and author of countless articles and chapters on this topic, will offer an inside look of what makes teletherapy viable and crucial in meeting the mental health needs of people at this time. As a pioneer in this field, Dr. Weinberg will consider the obstacles, challenges and benefits to using telehealth. In the back and forth with Host Suzanne Phillips, he will discuss - What makes a therapeutic alliance possible across a zoom call? Can a person feel known and understood if they are not sitting with the therapist? Is a therapy group possible through a zoom call? What are the most common obstacles for the patient, the group and the group therapist? Can they all be overcome? What should a patient look for in searching for an online therapist? Listen in -You will be informed and maybe relieved to know that given the challenges people are facing worldwide, sometimes help is only a call away.   Dr. Haim Weinberg (PhD) is a licensed psychologist in Israel and California, a group analyst, and Certified Group Psychotherapist in private practice in Sacramento, California. He is the past President of the Israeli Association of Group Psychotherapy and of the Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society (NCGPS). Dr. Weinberg is the list-owner of the group psychotherapy professional online discussion forum. He served as the Director of International Programs at the Professional School of Psychology where he created and coordinated an online doctoral program in group psychotherapy.  He co-edited a series of books about the social unconscious and wrote a book on Internet groups. His co-edited book “Theory and Practice of Online Therapy” was published just before the COVID-19 pandemic started. His new co-edited books are "Advances in Online Therapy: The Emergence of a New Paradigm" and “The Virtual Group Therapy Circle - Advances in Online Group Theory and Practice”. Dr. Weinberg published 10 books, 24 book chapters and 55 articles. His books were translated in China, Japan, Romania, South Korea, the Czech Republic, and Israel. Dr. Weinberg developed group therapy training groups in Asia, and is leading online training process groups for therapists around the world.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the reform is subjecting all of Mexico's Federal Judges to election by popular vote. While there are many unknowns with respect to the exact implementation of the reform, one thing is certain: uncertainty. We dive into the uncertainty, what this means for the current judicial bench, the future of the Mexican courts, and whether this might signify a great shift away from Mexican courts and toward international arbitration. Digital storytelling provides students the opportunity to bring their lived experiences into the classroom as creators rather than consumers of knowledge. In this episode, Tom Mackey and Sheila Aird join us to discuss ways digital storytelling can be used to increase student information literacy, critical thinking skills, and to support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Tom is a Professor of Arts and Media and Program Coordinator for the BA and BS degrees in Digital Media Arts at SUNY Empire State University. He is the recipient of a 2022 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities and the recipient of several other awards for his teaching and mentoring work. Tom is also the co-author of several books and two MOOCs that focus on metaliteracy. Sheila is an Associate Professor and European Director of International Programs at SUNY's Empire State University in Prague, in the Czech Republic. Her work broadly focuses on cultural history and public scholarship with a particular focus on  public history, pop culture, children of colonial enslavement, and issues of race in the African Diaspora community. Sheila has presented her work in many domestic and international venues and has co-authored two papers with Tom. Sheila and Tom are the co-editors of the new book, Teaching Digital Storytelling: Inspiring Voices through Online Narratives, published in 2024 by Rowman and Littlefield. They also co-authored the framing chapter for this volume based on their collaborative development and teaching of Digital Storytelling as a virtual exchange between SUNY Empire students studying in Prague and the United States. The International Risk Podcast delves into an analysis of the recent Venezuelan election on the 28th of July 2024. Protesters took to the streets in Venezuela days following the election as opposition leaders criticized the results of the election that saw President Nicolas Maduro secure another 6-year term in power. The opposition's Maria Corina Machado told reporters that a review of available voting records from the election showed that presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez had achieved a “categorical and mathematically irreversible” victory over Maduro. Machado and Gonzalez appeared at protests in the capital. Machado stated, “What we are fighting here is fraud by the regime”. Thousands took to the streets to protest and were met with tear gas and rubber bullets by the police. With 187 protests across 20 states. at least 24 people were killed in incidents related to the election or the demonstrations. Shortly following, the leader of the opposition Gonzalez fled Venezuela to take refuge in Madrid. With political tensions rising between the two parties, Dominic sits down with Juan de Dios Cincunegui to investigate the impact that this election will have on international relations and how it will contribute to international risk. Juan de Dios Cincunegui is Director of Cideipp, the International Centre of Parliamentary Studies, Research and Foresight at the School of Politics, Government and International Relations of Universidad Austral in Argentina. As a university professor, he directs the International Program on Parliamentary Diplomacy. He has dictated classes at ISEN (the Diplomatic Training School for Argentina). He is an IVLP Fellow at the US Department of State. He has been working on plural diplomacy for decades. To add to this, Juan is an expert in Administrative Law, Strategic Planning, State Management, Diplomacy and Parliaments. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Senior analyst Haviv Rettig Gur joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan on today's episode. Yesterday, Rettig Gur and Borschel-Dan attended a joint press conference for the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research and Tel Aviv University, where they heard the findings of the latest Palestine-Israel Pulse survey. They heard eye-opening perspectives of massive distrust in the other and how that influences any kind of vision of the future. They also learned that there is one sector -- Arab Israelis -- that is still optimistic and still thinks that peace can be achieved. The survey was conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) in Ramallah and the International Program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation at Tel Aviv University with funding from the Netherlands Representative Office in Ramallah and the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine through UNDP/PAPP. The lead authors were Dr. Dahlia Scheindlin, Dr. Khalil Shikaki and Dr. Nimrod Rosler. It polled 1200± Palestinians — over 800 from the West Bank and over 400 from Gaza in person — and 900 Israeli adults online, in the last half of July. Among other things, its findings addressed the impact of October 7 and the ongoing war on support for the two-state solution and support for various alternatives to the two-state solution, including one democratic state, one undemocratic state, a two-state confederation.We hear about attitudes toward the war and massive distrust of the other, extreme perceptions of the other and each side's sense of victimization. Tune in for insights that could shape your academic journey. Featured on this Episode:Mark Del Mastro, professor of Spanish/Hispanic Studies and associate provost for academic and international programs provides leadership and support in the area of curriculum development and review and academic policy. He also oversees the Center for International Education, the Office of the Registrar, and the Office for Institutional Effectiveness. Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky and raised in northern New Jersey, Del Mastro earned his B.A. at Wake Forest University, his M.A. at Middlebury College, and his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. After defending his doctoral dissertation in August 1992, he relocated to Charleston, South Carolina to begin a career at The Citadel, where for 18 years he taught a variety of courses to include Spanish language and literature, and Hispanic culture and business. In July 2010 Del Mastro joined the College of Charleston where he served as Chair of the Department of Hispanic Studies until August 2019 when he transitioned to his current role as Associate Provost for Academic and International Programs in the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs. Chris Korey, professor of biology and associate provost for student success, leads the office for the academic experience, which provides students with educationally purposeful activities that lead to deep learning, integrated social and intellectual development, and engagement with local and global communities. In this role, Korey leads eight units and multiple programs. Korey joined the College of Charleston's Department of Biology in 2003. Most recently, Korey served as Associate Dean for the School of Sciences and Mathematics, a role he has served since 2020. Korey earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Harvard University. An active scholar, his past research focused on the development and plasticity of the invertebrate nervous system and model systems for studying human genes associated with neurodegenerative disease.
