Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting Podcast

Find out how to improve blood sugar control and stop making common blood sugar mistakes! In this video, we'll cover 13 blood sugar mistakes to avoid, along with the best blood sugar management tips for healthy blood sugar levels. 0:00 Introduction: Stop making blood sugar mistakes!0:25 High blood sugar explained2:41 Insulin resistance and diabetes5:47 Common blood sugar regulation mistakes 12:22 How to lower blood sugar naturally14:05 More blood sugar management tips Did you know that all of the blood in your body should only contain a single teaspoon of sugar? Our bodies tightly regulate the amount of sugar in our blood at any given time. If you have prediabetes, that number rises to 1.5 teaspoons. With diabetes, the blood contains 2 teaspoons of sugar. The average person consumes between 50 and 100 teaspoons of sugar every day. Insulin removes the sugar from your blood and converts it to fat or stored sugar in the liver and muscles. The body only needs a tiny amount of sugar (which the liver can make on its own), so we don't actually need to consume any sugar at all. Chronic excessive sugar consumption can lead to the development of insulin resistance, which is at the root of many chronic diseases.Improve blood sugar control by avoiding these common mistakes when testing your blood sugar. 1. Not washing your hands2. Using alcohol wipes incorrectly 3. Using expired strips4. Hot sauna or cold plunge before testing5. Tylenol usage6. Taking vitamin C and other supplements 7. Squeezing fingers8. Using different fingers 9. Using continuous glucose monitors 10. Testing at high altitudes11. Drinking coffee 12. Checking glucose in the morning 13. DehydrationAn A1C test measures the average blood sugar over a period of 3 months. Several factors, including ethnicity, anemia, and diet, can affect these results. The liver is at the root of the problem when it comes to type 2 diabetes. Fortunately, a low-carb diet with intermittent fasting can quickly eliminate liver fat and correct insulin resistance and diabetes. To further support healthy blood sugar levels, try the following:•Consistent exercise •Apple cider vinegar diluted in water before meals•Morning walks•Berberine •Get plenty of sleep•Reduce stress levels•Increase sunlight exposureDr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Censorship in health took a drastic turn, labeling people like Sayer Ji as domestic terrorists for spreading information about holistic health. Advocates of natural health, dietary, and lifestyle modifications, as well as medical freedom, were silenced. Sayer Ji had a website, a business, and a YouTube channel, and was essentially deplatformed. He explains that in 2019, 99% of natural health information was removed from Google, essentially overnight! The Center for Countering Digital Hate is a small organization that claims to work at stopping online hate and misinformation. This group out of the UK influences a large population in the US, and has targeted those advocating for parental rights, medical choice, and religious freedom. They've characterized the advocates of these principles as dangerous, irresponsible, and even violent in an attempt to deplatform and demonetize their opposition. All of Sayer Ji's alternative health solutions were removed from the internet. Even information on sunlight and walking, natural health tips that are hardly controversial. They use manipulation of words like drug, disease, and heal to try to criminalize natural health and increase censorship in health information that challenges the status quo. Sayer Ji has conducted extensive research on the Merck Manual, first published in 1899. It was full of natural health remedies! Fortunately, Sayer Ji's accounts were restored, and he was essentially replatformed with a formal apology.People want alternative health solutions! They want lifestyle changes instead of a polypharmacy of drugs. Sayer Ji explains that there has been a significant increase in people advocating for bodily sovereignty, embracing natural healing, and making lifestyle changes on a large scale. As pharmaceutical companies continue to lose trust, they've resorted to hiring social media influencers to try to regain it. The older you are, the more relevant this becomes! The following conditions that affect the legs can provide insight into your longevity and overall health. 1. Peripheral neuropathyThese symptoms of numbness, pain, tingling, or burning in the bottom of the feet or fingertips are often associated with diabetes. High levels of sugar in the bloodstream destroy the vascular and nervous systems.2. Ankle and foot edema Puffy legs and ankles, or pitting edema, often signify a serious problem with circulation involving the kidney, liver, or heart.3. Restless legs syndromeThis often occurs at night and is related to the overconsumption of sugar. Interference with your sleep can decrease longevity. Dietary changes, vitamin B1, and magnesium may help improve this condition. 4. Deep vein thrombosis Clots in the legs can break off and travel to the lungs. Around 90% to 95% percent of heart attacks are caused by clots. 5. Peripheral artery disease This type of atherosclerosis goes beyond the arteries of the heart and is caused by damage to the endothelial layer of the arteries. 6. Chronic venous insufficiency This is associated with a sedentary lifestyle and puts increased pressure on the heart. 7. Sarcopenia Age-related muscle loss is one of the top predictors of mortality. Protein and exercise are vital, especially as you age. Type 2 diabetes and blood sugar issues cause problems with the inside of the arteries, which often show up in your legs first. A low-carb diet and intermittent fasting can help reverse these issues, but this is often ignored by doctors. Benfotiamine and alpha-lipoic acid can also help with associated peripheral neuropathy. The soleus push-up can significantly improve your blood sugar and circulation, and the sitting-standing test is an excellent indicator of hip and core strength.Potassium, a low-carb diet, and the Soleus Push-up can all help improve edema and reduce excess water weight. Increasing nitric oxide supports the inner walls of the arteries, and consistent exercise and a sufficient amount of sleep can help strengthen the legs and increase longevity. This isn't the best diet for heart health! For a healthy heart, prioritize nutrient-dense foods that contain the active form of vitamin A, heme iron, vitamin B12, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and high-quality complete protein. Here are the top 10 superfoods for your heart!1. Red meatI'm sure you're surprised to see this on the list! Grass-fed red meat contains high-quality amino acids that support the mitochondria in the heart. It's also a potent source of CoQ10, stearic acid, carnitine, carnosine, zinc, and vitamin B12. 2. Butter Grass-fed butter is very healthy for your heart! It's loaded with vitamin K2, which helps remove calcium from the arteries. It also contains butyrate, CLA, the active form of vitamin A, and stearic acid.3. Egg yolkEgg yolks are rich in choline, which helps prevent a fatty liver. Liver fat can spill over into the heart in the form of epicardial fat. Egg yolks also contain vitamin K2 and carotenoids. 4. CheeseRaw, aged cheese is rich in vitamin K2 and contains natural ACE inhibitors, which help support healthy blood pressure.5. Shellfish Oysters, mussels, and clams are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids and various trace minerals, including zinc, copper, iron, and magnesium.6. Organ meatsGrass-fed, grass-finished liver and other organ meats contain omega-3s, CoQ10, vitamin A, B12, and trace minerals like copper. You can also consume cod liver for the same benefits! 7. Fermented foodsFoods such as sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, and natto are rich in vitamin K2. Natto contains nattokinase, which helps support healthy blood pressure.8. Sea salt Sea salt contains 80 to 90 different minerals. Low sodium levels can lead to high blood pressure and increased cortisol levels.9. Fatty fish Wild-caught salmon, sardines, anchovies, and mackerel are potent sources of omega-3 fatty acids.10. Collagen Bone broth and the skin of chicken and fish are excellent sources of collagen. Ten percent of the collagen you consume is in the form of peptide chains, which can help the body repair collagenous structures in the body.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. I'm sure you've heard of using collagen for skin, hair, and anti-aging, but does collagen really work? It does, but in more ways than you think! Find out about the real benefit of collagen you've probably never heard about. Learn more about collagen absorption to maximize the benefits! 0:00 Introduction: Collagen benefits1:04 What is collagen?2:45 More benefits of collagen 4:10 Collagen peptides 7:58 The best collagen sources9:22 Improving collagen absorption and functionCollagen is often used for hair, skin, nails, and joints. It's been used to prevent wrinkles and as a beauty product, but the real benefit of collagen has nothing to do with beauty! Our ancestors ate animals nose to tail. This means they included organ meats, bone marrow, cartilage, and skin as vital parts of their diet.Around 30% of the protein in your body is collagen. It makes up the connective tissue of the body. Your tendons, ligaments, cartilage, fascia, and even a portion of your bones are made of collagen. In modern times, most of our meat doesn't contain much collagen. Only 1% to 3% of the protein we eat is collagen. This can lead to deficiencies in glycine, a key amino acid. When you're 17, you have the most collagen of your entire life. As we age, we lose a significant amount of collagen, leading to skin sagging, wrinkles, joint issues, and increased overall fragility. Here are some of the surprising benefits of collagen:•Antioxidant properties•Helps increase glutathione •Gut lining repair •Glycine for sleep and detoxificationMost of the collagen from the diet breaks down into amino acids. Only 10% remains as collagen peptide chains. Peptides are signaling molecules that tell the body to repair and rebuild connective tissue. These peptides trigger specific genes that activate the fibroblast cells in the body to produce collagen and elastin. When you consume muscle meat, eggs, and whey protein, you're only getting amino acids, not the signaling molecules for repairing and rebuilding. To increase your collagen intake, you can try a collagen supplement. You can also consume collagen-rich foods, such as the skin on chicken or fish. You can use bones, joints, and cartilage to make a variety of stews and soups. Bone marrow is an excellent source of collagen!Grass-fed, grass-finished beef has more collagen than conventional beef. You can even try mixing collagen powder in your coffee! Don't forget the cofactors, vitamin C, biotin, and trace minerals, which are vital for collagen absorption and function.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Inner thigh fat loss isn't just about exercise. Your inner thigh workout should prioritize rest and recovery. Discover the best inner thigh exercises, along with the necessary diet and lifestyle changes, for achieving smooth, toned, and healthy legs. 0:00 Introduction: Inner thigh toning and fat loss1:06 Inner thigh fat loss4:45 How to tone inner thighs7:16 What causes inner thigh fat?7:58 The best inner thigh workout12:29 More inner thigh fat loss tips Subcutaneous fat is the fat stored just under the skin. Visceral fat surrounds the organs. This type of fat is unhealthy and inflammatory, often related to insulin resistance. Liver fat can be eliminated in a matter of days or weeks. Fat on the inner thighs is the most difficult type of fat to get rid of. This fat is not just superficial; it's woven inside the muscle fibers, similar to the marbling in Wagyu beef. Muscle deteriorates and is replaced by fat and scar tissue. Stem cells that make muscle cells are lost, resulting in fewer contractions, less ATP, and more insulin resistance in the muscle. This abnormal accumulation of fat in the muscle is called myosteatosis, or intramuscular fat. This fat must be burned locally! As you begin to address this problem, you may not initially lose weight or notice a visible change, because the change occurs at the cellular level. For inner thigh fat loss, focus on repairing damaged muscle cells, rather than simply losing weight. Strength and decreased appetite will signify that you are improving. The root causes of intramuscular fat are the following:•Inactivity/sedentary life •Insulin resistance •Inflammation •Aging For the most inner thigh fat loss, try the following:1. Eccentric exercises 2. Walking 3. Sprinting/HIIT4. Two meals per day/low-carb diet 5. Increase key nutrients: magnesium, vitamin D, and omega-36. Get plenty of sleep7. Periodic prolonged fasting 8. Stop this barbaric treatment! Sign the petition here: https://stopect.com/email-congress This barbaric medical treatment is still being used to treat depression and mental illness in the US. Find out about the dangerous side effects of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), one of the most controversial mental health treatments that exists. You won't believe they're still doing this!0:00 Introduction: ECT for depression0:41 Electroshock treatment background2:11 Is ECT dangerous? 2:23 What is electroconvulsive therapy?4:22 More side effects of electroconvulsive therapy4:38 Trauma from electroshock therapy This barbaric mental health therapy costs around $2000 to $2500 per treatment, and is covered by Medicaid, Medicare, and the VA system. It's a multibillion-dollar market! The average treatment plan includes 12 sessions in the first month, followed by maintenance sessions every 3 weeks. This treatment has never been scientifically proven to work! There have been no official trials, and it has even been performed on children and pregnant women. The UN calls this treatment a human rights abuse and compares this forced treatment on minors to torture. In China, it's actually used as a form of torture. In addition, this treatment has never been FDA-approved and was merely grandfathered in. In 2018, the FDA downgraded it from a high-risk classification to a moderate-risk classification. This dangerous treatment causes structural brain damage, creates swelling and inflammation in the brain, and even kills brain cells. Electroconvulsive therapy involves putting 150 volts through a person's brain to induce a grand mal seizure. ECT treatment comes with many side effects, has 60 documented adverse events, and can cause permanent brain damage, memory loss, and heart attacks. This treatment uses enough energy to stop the heart, and there is nothing stopping the voltage from traveling to the rest of the body. This can lead to cardiac arrest! People who use this treatment are also at an increased risk of suicide. I've seen firsthand in practice that people who've had this treatment lose their personality, humor, creativity, and more. ECT treatment can lead to death, destruction of cells and mitochondria, and shrinking of the hippocampus. Neurologist Dr. John Feinberg noted in 1977 that ECT caused structural brain damage, indistinguishable from head trauma. If you have depression, diet and lifestyle changes may help. Increasing vitamin D levels, B-vitamin levels, and omega-3 levels, along with a low-carb diet and intermittent fasting, can significantly improve your symptoms.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Never put this on your face! Even natural ingredients can cause skin problems if misused. In this video, I'll share 11 things you should never put on your face. To achieve healthy, clear skin, avoid these common skincare mistakes. 0:00 Introduction: Skincare mistakes to avoid0:20 Skin damage explained 1:28 What not to use on your face2:31 Lemon juice and sun exposure5:25 Rubbing alcohol and bad skin products7:07 Topical steroids and skincare mistakes8:30 More skincare do's and don'ts Your skin is the largest organ in your body. On top of the skin, especially the face, is the acid mantle. This acidic, protective barrier houses millions of microbes that protect you.Putting the wrong products on your skin can negatively affect this environment, leading to redness, rashes, acne, dry skin, and other skin problems. Avoid the following 11 products that ruin your skin! 1. Apple cider vinegarACV is too acidic for the skin. It can cause irritation and redness. If you want to use it on your skin, dilute one teaspoon into 8 ounces of water.2. Lemon juice Don't put lemon juice on your face or hair! It contains a phytochemical that can cause problems when you're exposed to sunlight.3. Essential oils Some essential oils, such as cedarwood and tea tree oil, are simply too strong for the skin.4. Bergamot Combining bergamot with sun exposure can cause skin inflammation. 5. Baking sodaWith a pH of 9, baking soda is too alkaline for the skin. It can damage the acidic environment, compromising the beneficial microbes on the skin.6. ToothpasteHarsh ingredients like peroxide and fluoride should not be used on your skin.7. Rubbing alcoholAlcohol kills the microbes on the surface of your skin. This can allow the overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria. Many creams and lotions contain alcohol, so be sure to check the ingredients of your skin care products.8. Hydrogen peroxide This is effective for removing stains on the teeth and for cleaning, but it's not suitable for use on the face.9. Hair dyeHair dye used for your eyebrows and eyelashes can be very dangerous to your eyes. 10. Topical steroids Redness, irritation, and flakiness are often treated with topical steroids without second thought. Topical steroids stop the growth of skin cells and the production of collagen. 11. Exfoliating scrubsFrequent use of exfoliating scrubs can scrub off the microbiome of your face. It's beneficial to get a filter for your shower head to reduce skin exposure to chlorine and fluoride. Opt for makeup that is free of chemicals and fragrance! Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Avoid these ingredients by any means necessary!0:00 Introduction: The most dangerous ingredients in the world0:23 Why are these toxic ingredients so addictive?3:06 10 deadly ingredients in processed food 6:00 Seed oils and your health12:05 Download the Dr. Berg app! How do they turn cheap, toxic ingredients into a highly addictive food? The worst food ingredients often have the following components:•Devoid of protein•Create a blood sugar spike•Artificial flavorings•MSG•Manipulated texture •Good mouth feel•Bliss point •Signals the release of dopamine •Pleasure when eating Avoid the following toxic ingredients, often found in ultra-processed foods.1. Trans fatsSome foods still contain trans fats. This ingredient is even worse when combined with refined carbohydrates. 2. High fructose corn syrup This synthetic sugar goes straight to the liver, contributing to a fatty liver and insulin resistance. Sweet drinks made with alcohol cause significant liver damage and affect the brain, nervous system, and heart. Seed oils exacerbate this problem. 3. Sodium nitrate This is a preservative found in bacon and hot dogs, and it becomes increasingly toxic when heated.4. Fried potatoes/burnt toastAdding heat to a starch creates toxic byproducts such as aldehydes and acrylamide. These toxic ingredients cause inflammation in the body. Starch or sugar combined with protein creates AGEs, harmful byproducts that damage your arteries, eyes, kidneys, and brain. 5. Artificial sweeteners Artificial sweeteners have a toxic effect on the body, especially the microbiome. 6. Glyphosate Glyphosate is patented as an antibiotic and classified by the WHO as a probable carcinogen.7. MSGMonosodium glutamate affects the hypothalamus in rats, causing them to overeat and become obese. This ingredient can make low-quality food taste better than it really is. 8. Phosphate This stimulant can contribute to arterial calcification, especially if you don't have enough vitamin K2. 9. Potassium bromateThis ingredient is a bread conditioner and is classified as a probable carcinogen. 10. Synthetic flavoringThe ingredient “flavoring” consists of hundreds of chemicals used to manipulate your sense of taste. Chronic consumption of artificial flavors can dull your appetite for real food. Are multivitamins bad for you? How could that be? In this video, I'll share the truth about the multivitamin scam. Find out about the vitamins you should never take, supplements that don't work, and the harmful ingredients in your supplements. 0:00 Introduction: Multivitamins truth0:19 Harmful ingredients in supplements 1:45 Synthetic vs. natural vitamins 3:38 Do multivitamins really work?9:32 Natural vitamins and minerals11:17 Fake vitamins exposed! Many multivitamins are made with the cheapest, synthetic ingredients which could be doing more harm than good. The first ingredient in many multivitamins is often calcium carbonate, which is limestone! The first ingredient usually makes up the majority of the product. Magnesium oxide, another common ingredient, is very cheap and has the lowest absorption rate compared to other forms of magnesium. The term “natural” isn't regulated, so ingredients derived from sources such as petroleum and coal tar can be labeled as natural. In nature, vitamins don't exist alone; they are combined with other nutrients and cofactors, which are often missing when you take synthetic vitamins. Biochemistry can not work without cofactors. Although there are nutrients that are difficult to obtain in sufficient amounts from food, that doesn't mean they should be replaced with synthetic multivitamins.Maltodextrin is commonly used as a filler in vitamins and minerals. It's a highly refined industrial starch, classified as a complex carbohydrate, and spikes blood sugar more than sugar. Ascorbic acid is a synthetic part of the vitamin C complex. Approximately 90% is made in China from GMO corn and sulfuric acid. Many people have a genetic issue converting cyanocobalamin, a synthetic form of B12, and folic acid, a synthetic form of B9, into their active forms. This can cause negative side effects in 40% of the population.Almost all of the popular multivitamins are owned by Big Pharma, Big Food, Big Chemical, or large investment groups. For example, Centrum Silver is owned by Pfizer, and One a Day is owned by Bayer. Avoid these mistakes for a healthy gut! These 8 common gut health mistakes could be destroying your digestive health. Discover the habits and foods that ruin gut health, along with my expert gut health tips to improve your digestion and overall health today.1. Trying to improve gut health with fiberIncreasing fiber is one of the worst things you can do for your gut, yet it's commonly recommended. If your gut is damaged, fiber can exacerbate the issue, contributing to gas and inflammation. If you have gut inflammation, the carnivore diet can help! The carnivore diet helps increase glutamine, an amino acid that promotes gut healing. Zinc carnosine and butyrate, found in butter, are excellent for a healthy gut. Intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting are crucial for maintaining digestive health.Approximately 40% of the population has SIBO. L. Reuteri can help reduce SIBO and has many other amazing benefits. It increases oxytocin, lowers stres, and even increases social capacity. Ensure you have strong stomach acid for healthy digestion and protection from microbes. 2. Commercial probiotics and yogurt The amount of probiotics in these products is so low that it won't make a difference in gut health. Many commercial yogurts are low-fat and contain added sugar and starch. 3. Colon cleansingThis eliminates beneficial gut bacteria, which can ultimately lead to constipation and other health issues. Avoid detoxing and focus on a healthy diet.4. Antibiotics Your gut microbiome does not fully recover after taking antibiotics. Bacteria that survive antibiotics can become antibiotic-resistant superbugs! If you have to take antibiotics take a good probiotic simultaneously.5. Antacids Acid reflux is a valve problem caused by low stomach acid. Weakening your stomach acid worsens the problem. Strong stomach acid is vital for digestion, protection against pathogens, and mineral absorption. 6. Low-fat diets Low-fat diets are bad for digestion because fat stimulates the gallbladder to release bile. Low bile leads to constipation and the inability to kill off microbes in the small intestine.7. Balanced diet Everything in moderation is the worst advice! Lowering carbs from 45% to 65% of your calories to 10% can significantly improve digestion.8. Superfood shakesSuperfood shakes and smoothies with kale, spinach, and fruit can overload the small intestine with fiber. Red meat is the best superfood!
