Surprise. Punch Drunk TV is back with episode 127 and, obviously, this is not your average show. Since we're all stuck at home, Jack and I decided to try one thing we've never done in our seven-year history doing this show: Record remotely. It worked, albeit my (Aaron) mic was not at great as his. No winners or losers in this episode. It's more like, we're just checking in, ya know? Although we do talk about television a bit. Tiger King, The Office, Sesame Street and more are mentioned in this episode. What have you been watching to keep yourself sane? Thanks for listening and hey, maybe we'll do another one of these soon enough. #ClinkTheDrink

Well would ya look at that, we're back ... kind of.  It's episode 126 of Punch Drunk TV and, well, it's been a while. When Jack proposed this "terrible idea" of doing a one-off episode where we talk about the year's best TV shows, I couldn't help but say yes. I mean, I have a baby and no social life now, so just getting the opportunity to sit in someone else's living room was incentive enough. But, it was quite nice getting the band back together, so to speak. Yes, this is a long episode. Longer than The Irishman, in fact. We talk about all sorts of big tentpole things like Disney+, The Mandalorian and Watchmen. But we also dig into lesser-known TV shows you should be watching like Primal, Sherman's Showcase, David Makes Man and something called Cannon Busters.  We have no guarantee we'll be back to do this again. But who knows, there may be another episode of Punch Drunk TV for your earholes by the time Comic-Con is over. Anything's possible. But don't quote me on this.  There are no losers in this podcast episode ... aside from Haim Saban. But you'll need to listen to really figure out what I mean.

Clinkers, we know it's been a while but we are finally back for one more -- and one final -- episode. Yes, it's true, after almost 7 years, we have decided it is now time to bring Punch Drunk TV to an end. This is Aaron typing, in case you didn't know. I started this show, back when it was first called Best Frienemies, and then revamped to the GeekNation show Pass the Effin Remote, for the simple reason that I wanted to hang out with Jack. I knew we had good chemistry, I was always entertained when we hung out, and a light bulb went off that we should do some type of show. Now, here we are. Doing this show helped us make new friends, brought our voices into households across the world, opened up doors to new job opportunities, and solidified my friendship with this dude I first met at a goth club over 20 years ago. This may be the end to Punch Drunk TV, but we are not going anywhere. Jack and I are currently working out an idea for a new show, so please keep in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter. We will announce something in the coming months. In the meantime, please clink the drink with us one final time. Aaron here -- after taking a week off my wife, her mother, my baby and I all got hit with the flu, we have returned for Episode 119 of Punch Drunk TV. There's a lot we go over in this episode, including the multiple Fyre Festival docs that hit streaming last week. Before we kick things off, Jack's wife JoEllen poses a question to us and you Clinkers: How would you describe The CW? Because they definitely have their own very specific brand going on. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: The CW has ordered a musical dramedy spinoff of "Riverdale" titled "Katy Keene." The CW also ordered a "Lost Boys" TV series which will no longer be an anthology series but, as THR says, will be "set in Santa Carla and explores the secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla's eternally beautiful and youthful undead." "Queer Eye" will go to Tokyo for four episodes in its next season. The special four-episode installment, titled "Queer Eye: We're in Japan!," will premiere on Netflix after Season 3 of the series drops later this year. Netflix is rebooting "Unsolved Mysteries" from the show's original producers. According to THR, "the new series will follow a similar format to its predecessor, which first aired on NBC in the late 1980s. Each of the 12 episodes will focus on a single mystery — the broadcast version had multiple cases per episode — and like the original, will enlist viewers' help in solving each case." Showtime has bought the rights to a four-part docuseries titled, "Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men." The first two episodes will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and then the series will air on the network in the spring. Has it been two weeks or three weeks since we last recorded? Jack and Aaron disagree on these numbers (it's been two weeks, but whatever). Still, it doesn't really matter because we are back! Jack is back from Japan, Aaron has left his couch, there's a bunch of interesting TV news worth discussing, Rick Grimes didn't die, and somehow witches are once again all the rage! "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels" will take place in 1938 Los Angeles. THR says it'll be "rooted in the conflict between characters connected to the deity Santa Muerte and others allied with the devil, City of Angels will explore a mix of the supernatural and the combustible reality of that period, creating new occult myths and moral dilemmas within a historical backdrop. We have officially begun counting down till San Diego Comic-Con! So, of course, that means Aaron and Jack spend a good portion of the episode talking about the TV goodies (or lack there-of) happening next week.  The Emmy nominations were also announced this week, so we not only try to figure out who will win in this insane race but dig through some of the snubs (ie: No Twin Peaks or Last Man on Earth!) For shame! NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage scored his seventh Emmy nomination for supporting actor in a drama series. Dinklage is now the most nominated person ever in the category. Sandra Oh becomes first Asian woman to score lead actress Emmy nom for Killing Eve. FX has renewed Pose for a second season Three new Archie comics series are in the works. The first of which is an updated animated incarnation of Archie and his friends. There have been numerous Archie cartoons in the past, but this one will reportedly lean more towards comedy than the current comic book series or even Riverdale. The second show is also an animated series, with Josie from Josie and the Pussycats in the lead. That series is described as a "horror-tinged" story. The third is a live-action adaptation of Sam Hill, a private detective character whose adventures have only been sporadically published within the last few decades. Sam Hill is far from an obvious choice for an adaptation, but it could be a sign that the company is attempting to expand its reach. The accompanying report states the three shows are being pitched to streaming services and broadcast networks. Season 22 of South Park will premiere on September 26. FX's Y: The Last Man series has been cast. Barry Keoghan has been signed to portray Yorick Brown, an amateur escape artist and the only human male who survived a catastrophic plague that nearly wiped out his gender. Yorick and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, may be the only two male mammals left alive. Imogen Poots will play Hero Brown, Yorick’s sister and an EMT who has her own burdens to bear in the new world. Diane Lane will co-star as Senator Jennifer Brown, Yorick and Hero’s mother. Captain Marvel co-star Lashana Lynch has nabbed the fan favorite role of Agent 355, a Secret Service operative who becomes Yorick’s protector and one of the most memorable characters in the comic. Juliana Canfield will portray Yorick’s girlfriend, Beth, while Marin Ireland will play Nora, “the president’s senior assistant and right hand.” AARON'S LOSER: Bill Maher Live from Oklahoma and SuccessionJACK'S LOSERS: The Outpost and Very CavallariAARON'S FENCERS: Preacher and Mr. MercedesJACK'S FENCERS: Cooking on High, Paid Off with Michael Torpey, Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters, TKO: Total Knockout and The Unbreakable Kimmy SchmidtAARON'S WINNERS: Explained, Claws, Somebody Feed Phil, GLOW and Sharp ObjectsJACK'S WINNERS: Youtube Channels: Lindsay Ellis and Red Letter Media's Best of the Worst, Anne with an E and Somebody Feed Phil Be sure to subscribe on iTunes and comment! It's our 99th episode! To celebrate coming in shy of the big hundred, Jack and Aaron brought their wives along for a very special episode. Here, we discuss our "couple shows" and how our significant others affect the shows we watch. We recorded this one a bit early this week (on Memorial Day, to be specific), which means there's no talk of the "Roseanne" fiasco that went down on Tuesday. Who needs more "Roseanne" talk, anyway. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: New Episodes of "Queer Eye" is hitting Netflix on June 15! The new episodes will feature the show's first female and trans male subjects. "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening is bringing his first new series to TV in 20 years. It's called "Disenchantment" and according to Mashable, "The series will follow the misadventures of "hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci." The report continues, saying, "As they go about their adventures, the trio will encounter "ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools." Idris Elba is set to direct, produce, and star as Quasimodo in a modern retelling of Victor Hugo’s classic, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," for Netflix. Sure. And because Aaron and Kelly are expecting a child, we talk about the impact the Marvel Cinematic Universe is having on new baby names.  AARON'S MOVIE LOSERS: "All Eyez on Me" and "Anon"JACK'S FENCERS: "Picnic at Hanging Rock" and "The Break with Michelle Wolf"KELLY & AARON'S FENCERS: Aaron: "The Break with Michelle Wolf" and "Cargo." Kelly: "Little Women"AARON'S WINNERS: "The Toys That Made Us," "Girl's Trip," "Steve Martin & Martin Short: An Evening You'll Forget for the Rest of Your Life," "Westworld" and "The Handmaid's Tale"JACK & JOELLEN'S WINNERS: Jack: "The Last Man On Earth" finale, "The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale" finale, "The Middle" finale and "The Toys That Made Us." It's that time again. Episode 98 of Punch Drunk TV is here and we start off with an apology from Aaron who clarifies his stance on the legality and morality of raping and murdering robots in Westworld. Because, for some reason, last week he just couldn't communicate his argument properly. Also, the whiskey ... it be strong. It's Memorial Day Weekend, what are you all doing? Besides listening to this new episode, of course...? NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Damon Lindelof says his "Watchmen" series will not be an adaptation of the comics or a sequel to the movie, instead saying, it'll be "a remix." Via The Hollywood Reporter, Lindelof says, "Those original twelve issues are our Old Testament. When the New Testament came along, it did not erase what came before it. Creation. The Garden of Eden. Abraham and Isaac. The Flood. It all happened. And so it will be with Watchmen. The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica. To be clear. Watchmen is canon.” Netflix has canceled their "Arrested Development" press tour in the UK following backlash against Jeffrey Tambor. Barack and Michelle Obama have inked a multi-year production deal with Netflix where they will be creating new documentaries, docu-series, feature-length movies, and other types of content. Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis — the co-showrunners of ABC's "Once Upon a Time" — have replaced Bryan Fuller as the new showrunners for Apple's "Amazing Stories." FOX and WWE are close to a five-year $1-billion dollar deal to bring Smackdown to the network. Raw will stay on USA. After being canceled by SYFY, "The Expanse" has been rescued by Amazon "Krypton" has been renewed at SYFY for a second season "Step Up: High Water" renewed for a second season at YouTube Red FX has renewed "Baskets" for a fourth season Mark Wahlberg is currently in the process of bringing back the children’s educational TV series "Captain Kangaroo" with his non-scripted production company Unrealistic Ideas. “We are bringing back a cool STEM scientist as Captain Kangaroo,” he said. There are no other details about the series or where it'll air at this time. There's a new "Thundercats" series on the way, called "Thundercats Roar," and some fans are really unhappy about the new show's silly aesthetic. AARON'S LOSERS: "Fahrenheit 451" and "13 Reasons Why"JACK'S LOSERS: "Evil Genius" and "Rea(L)over" AARON'S FENCERS: "The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish," "13 Reasons Why: Beyond the Reasons," "The Final Year" and "McMafia"JACK'S FENCERS: "Saturday Night Live" finale w/ Tina Fey, "Scijinks," "The Split" and "Royal Wedding Live with Cord & Tish" AARON'S WINNERS: "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Westworld" and "The Handmaid's Tale"JACK'S WINNERS: "Mob Psycho 100," "Terrace House: Opening New Doors," "The Handmaid’s Tale" and "Westworld" Be sure to subscribe on iTunes and comment! We're now at that weird time between show seasons. With Summer shows around the corner and most shows coming to an end, what sorta batshit crazy things are we going to be watching over the next month? That is the question. In the meantime, The Network UpFronts are done and it seems that the Red Wedding has come to Fox. The network almost killed all of their comedies. But at least Stiffler is coming to "Lethal Weapon" ... right? NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Clayne Crawford has been replaced by Seann William Scott for Season 3 of "Lethal Weapon." It's unclear what will happen to Riggs in the story, but Scott will come in as a new unruly cop character for Damon Wayans' Murtaugh to team up with. Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon will return as Cord and Tish to cover the Royal Wedding on HBO. It's titled "The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish!" and will premiere May 19 at 7:30 pm. Jordan Peele will executive produce a new 10-episode nazi-hunting series for Amazon called "The Hunt." Set in the 1970s, the series "starts from a vaguely real-world premise—former Nazis living undercover in New York—and quickly gets TV-show-over-the-top with it, suggesting that the “hundreds” of secret Germans are plotting the rise of a “Fourth Reich” in the heart of the Big Apple." According to Entertainment Weekly, "Arrested Development's" 16-episode fifth season will be split into two halves, with one premiering May 29 and the other coming by the end of the year. Netflix is getting in on the horror anthology trend with a new series, "Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight." According to Variety, Del Toro will serve as executive producer on the series, and reportedly wants to write and direct select “equally sophisticated and horrific” episodes himself; the rest will come from writers and filmmakers personally selected by the director. "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has been renewed for a sixth season.  According to AV Club, "the show will return for a 13-episode run next summer, most likely giving viewers a nice gap between the May release of Avengers 4 and the show’s season premiere. This way, half of the cast can still be obliterated and then resurrected without undercutting whatever the movie does to pull it off—which we’re all guessing involves time travel, right?" Batwoman will make her debut in CW's next Superhero crossover event. This will be the first time any of the "Arrow"-related shows will be making a direct connection to the Batman universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Epix has just ordered 10 episodes of "Pennyworth," a show dedicated to Batman’s butler Alfred when he first began working for Bruce Wayne’s father. The show will emphasize Alfred’s past as a former British SAS officer living in 1960s London, so it will be as far removed from the classic Batman mythology as possible. DC Universe announced a new 13-episode live action series for the streaming service based on "Doom Patrol." A press release from Warner Bros. says "Doom Patrol" will be about a team of super-powered people who have all been scarred and traumatized by various tragedies until someone known as The Chief comes along and enlists them in a mission to investigate 'the weirdest phenomena in existence.'" NOTEWORTHY CANCELLATIONS:Syfy has canceled "The Expanse."CBS: "Kevin Can Wait," "Scorpion," "Superior Donuts" NBC: "Great News," "Rise," "Taken" ABC: "Alex, Inc.," "The Crossing," "Deception," "Designated Survivor," "Quantico," "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World," "Marvel's Inhumans"FOX: "The Exorcist," "Lucifer," "The X-Files" (but there'll be more "Prison Break," apparently?) ABC also passed on "The Greatest American Hero" reboot. The CW canceled their "Supernatural" spinoff series "The Wayward Sisters." "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was saved from cancellation by NBC, and Fox has resurrected Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing" after canceling practically all its comedies because "The Roseanne Effect" and ... football?  AARON'S LOSER: "Patrick Melrose"JACK'S LOSERS: "Safe" AARON'S FENCERS: "Evil Genius" and "I'm Dying Up Here"JACK'S FENCERS: "All Night," "Evil Genius," "Patrick Melrose" AARON'S WINNERS: "Dear White People," "Westworld," "Barry" and "Killing Eve"JACK'S WINNERS: "Barry," "Westworld," "The Handmaid’s Tale," "Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife" and Little Women" Be sure to subscribe on iTunes and comment! We took a week off but now we're back ... and badder than ever! How is it that after one week of not recording, there seems to be even more TV shows we are behind on? Is it even possible to stay up to date on everything when a new show is constantly premiering? Damn, do you remember how shitty TV entertainment used to be before LOST, Mad Men and Breaking Bad? Well, do you? NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: "The Walking Dead" Season 8 finale brought in 7.9 million viewers — it was the highest rated show of the night, but it was the show's lowest-rated finale since Season 1 — which was watched by 6 million people. Carey Elwes and Jake Busey have joined the cast of "Stranger Things" for Season 3. According to Deadline, Elwes will be playing Larry Kline, the mayor of Hawkins, who was described as “A classic, 80’s style slick politician. Pathetic and driven only by his own interests. The studio is looking for a male, aged from 40s-60s, to fill the role." Busey will be playing a character named Bruce, who was described as “a morally compromised news reporter in his 50s” who is “outwardly sexist, overweight and bedraggled.” Idris Elba is going to Netflix. The service has handed out a straight-to-series, eight-episode order for half-hour entry "Turn Up Charlie," an original comedy created by, starring and exec produced by the "Luther" Emmy nominee. According to THR, "Elba will star in the comedy as Charlie, a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend's problem-child daughter." Comedy Central confirms that Season 5 of "Broad City" will be its final season. Smart move going out on their terms. And with the recent announcement that Amazon is developing an "A League of Their Own" TV series — with Abbi Jacobson co-writing and executive producing — it looks like she'll be keeping busy. I wonder if Alana is good at sports? Nat Geo says Season 3 of its series "Genius" will be about Mary Shelley. Season 2, which is about Pablo Picasso, premieres on Tuesday, the 24th. ABC has once again ordered a 13-episode spinoff to "The Goldbergs." It's currently untitled and will be taking place in the '90s. RECENT RENEWALS & CANCELLATIONS: HBO has renewed "Barry" for Season 2. CBS renewed "Blue Bloods," "Bull," "Hawaii Five-0," "MacGyver," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "NCIS: New Orleans." Hey Clinkers. How are you? It's raining in L.A. So ... thoughts and prayers to all the displaced snails ... NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: The "Stranger Things" cast just got huge pay raises. Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, and Caleb McLaughlin all will go from about $30,000 per episode to somewhere between $200,000 and $250,000. Millie Bobby Brown’s bump was apparently even bigger, but Deadline doesn’t offer specifics. David Harbour and Winona Ryder are making somewhere “north of $300,000" after their own salary bumps. Series regulars Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton are only making between $100,000 and $150,000, which seems low for how important they are to the series, but they both got overshadowed by Joe Keery during season two. Kathy Bates will return for Season 8 of "American Horror Story" because, duh. Ryan Murphy revealed at PaleyFest: “Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do. So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.” John Constantine will become a series regular on DC's "Legends of Tomorrow." That is if The CW renews the show for a fourth season. NBC has given an extended order for more "Will & Grace" episodes this season. The network already ordered a second season before the reboot's premiere and just ordered a third season (or 11th season, if you're keeping track). Jerry O'Connell has been cast as Sheldon's older brother Georgie on "The Big Bang Theory" and will appear in the Season 11 finale Netflix has secured the international rights to all of the Monty Python movies as well as many TV series including "Flying Circus." Hey guys, it's been a rough week. So instead of filling this intro with some sort of witty small talk, we're just going to ask that you head over to iTunes and review/rate the show if you like what you hear. We love you. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: "The Walking Dead's" Season 8 finale and Season 4 premiere of "Fear the Walking Dead" — aka the series' first-ever crossover episode — will hit 750 theaters nationwide on April 15 in what Fathom Events is calling "Survival Sunday" Thanks to the success of "The White Queen" and "The White Princess," Starz has put the third installment into production. Based on Philippa Gregory's series of books, the newest series is "The Spanish Princess" which "returns viewers to the world of royal court intrigue as seen uniquely through the perspective of the women, but also sheds light on a previously untold corner of history — the lives of people of color, living and working in 16th century London." Hulu is developing a series about the "Satanic Panic" of the late '80s and early '90s. The series is called "Demons," and according to THR, the drama will "revolve around Marilyn Jones, the seductive "patient zero" in the frenzy surrounding satanic ritual abuse, and her husband, Bennett Lewis, a brilliant but manipulative psychiatrist. In success, each season of Demons would explore a twisted crime affected by the couple's dark exploration into the fragile nature of memory and guilt." MTV is expanding its "TRL" franchise to add late night and morning editions of the program. Nerdist reported on a rumor that FOX may be interested in rebooting "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Of course, it's just a rumor but would this even be a good idea? QUESTION: After watching "Jessica Jones" and "Daredevil's" sophomore seasons, I have to wonder, Is there a Season 2 curse for Netflix's Marvel shows? In Episode 89 of Punch Drunk TV, Jack and Aaron discuss a very important topic: Their rekindled Tori Amos fandoms. Seriously, it's overtaken everything ... but only '90s Tori. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Barack and Michelle Obama are in early talks with Netflix to produce a new global series for the platform. The deal is said to be focused on a series that would highlight inspirational stories, not anything to serve as a direct rebuttal to current President Donald Trump or his policies. Bronson Pinchot, aka Balki from "Perfect Strangers," has been cast as a recurring character in Netflix's "Sabrina" series. Pinchot will recur as George Hawthorne, "Baxter High's villainous, puritanical principal. He is a constant thorn in Sabrina's side and is always trying to thwart her escapades." Disney Jr is working on a new "Rocketeer" animated series. This time, the story will follow Kit: “a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing she’s next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-powered jetpack.” Assisting Kit with her adventures will be “her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and airplane mechanic uncle, Ambrose.” Jon Favreau has been tapped to write and executive produce a live-action "Star Wars" TV series that'll air exclusively on Disney's yet-to-launch standalone streaming service 26.5 million people tuned in to the Oscars on Sunday, making it the lowest rated event in the awards show's history. Another week, another episode. We're still in the midst of Olympics mayhem, which means a lot of shows have yet to return or premiere. But that'll change soon. Until then, uh ... what's your favorite brunch food? NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: "The Walking Dead" star Lauren Cohan has yet to renew her contract for Season 9. She's not necessarily leaving the show but has been grappling with AMC over less-than-satisfactory salary offers. She has just been cast as the lead in a new ABC pilot called "Whiskey Cavalier." The show would star "Scandal's" Scott Foley and is described as a "high-octane hourlong action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: "Whiskey Cavalier") who, following an emotional breakup, is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca "Frankie" Trowbridge (codename: "Fiery Tribune"). Together, they lead an interagency team of flawed, funny, heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics." CBS is rebooting "L.A. Confidential" as a TV series. Walton Goggins will star as "Detective Jack Vincennes, who is described as all swagger and flash with a movie-star smile. He knows how the system works and uses it to his best advantage, including some corrupt shakedowns on the side." Kevin Spacey played the role in the 1997 movie. CBS cast it's new "Magnum P.I." Thomas Magnum will be played by Jay Hernandez, who is a Mexican American. He previously played Dimitri Havelock in "The Expanse" and Daniel Acosta in Fox's short-lived series "Gang Related." Comedy Central has renewed "Drunk History" for a 6th season Fox News is launching a streaming service called "Fox Nation" in late 2018 and will be targeted towards the network's "super fans" Comedian Michelle Wolf — hot off of getting her own Netflix late-night series — will host this year's White House Correspondents Dinner. Hey Clinkers, Happy Valentine's Week! To continue the lovefest, we want to know who is your TV crush? Could be a celebrity ... or even the character they played. Inquiring minds want to know ... This episode finds Aaron a bit loopy after a long day doing some bizarre background acting on a Disney Channel TV show. He was pelted with yogurt and ended up dressing as a Mexican Wrestler. So basically, he's sleep-deprived and drinking. Welcome to CrazyTown! NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Ryan Murphy is moving from 20th Century Fox to Netflix. His new five-year deal will pay the man $300-million dollars and goes into effect July 1st. Murphy will continue to serve as an exec producer on FX's "American Horror Story," "American Crime Story," "Feud," "Pose" and Fox's "911." In its first three days, "The Cloverfield Paradox" had 2.8 million viewers — which is one-fourth the size of the audience for "Bright," which brought in roughly 11-million dollars in its first three days on the platform. "The Daily Show's" Michelle Wolf — basically the best correspondent on "The Daily Show" during the Trevor Noah years — has signed on for her own late-night show on Netflix. It'll premiere later this year. "New Girl's" Hannah Simone will star in ABC's "Greatest American Hero" reboot After a 20-episode first season, Netflix has canceled "Disjointed" Mary J. Blige will star in Netflix's "Umbrella Academy." This is Blige's first ever series regular gig. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will play the role of Cha-Cha, "a ruthless and unorthodox hit-woman who travels through time to kill assigned targets. Aaron here. I'm back from Texas and I have stories: I went to a rodeo. I ate bbq. I hung out at the ranch where "Dallas" was filmed. Good times...? That said, I'm curious -- is there a TV show you love that has made you want to visit the locale it takes place in? "Friday Night Lights" made me want to go to Texas. So there's that.  Also, big apologies to our Canadian listeners! We never mean to imply being Canadian is a bad thing. Just some of the shows that come out of Canada have a specific look and feel that is quite different from American shows. Seriously, we're sorry.  NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: Aside from Samurai World, there will be five other mysterious parks featured in "Westworld" Season 2 — this according to the website DelosDestinations.com. Bryan Fuller has exited "Amazing Stories" citing creative differences with Apple. "The Big Sick's" Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon are teaming with "SMILF's" Lee Eisenberg and "Master of None's" Alan Yang to develop "Little America." According to THR, "Little America" will be an immigration-themed anthology series and "is based on the true stories featured in Epic Magazine. It is described as a funny, romantic, heartfelt and inspiring look beyond the headlines at the lives of immigrants in America at a time when their stories are more relevant than ever." Joel McHale has a new show coming to Netflix on Sunday, Feb. 18 called "The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale." The premiere episode will welcome Kevin Hart as a guest, with appearances by Alison Brie, Mike Colter, Paul Reiser, Jodie Sweetin and Jim Rash. Much like he did on "The Soup," McHale will take an absurdist look at pop culture, as well as news from around the world. It's Winter Olympics time, dear Clinkers! Also, Aaron had an Aziz Ansari conundrum he really needed to work out ... just listen, you'll see. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: 19.8 million viewers tuned into the 60th Annual Grammys, which is a 24% drop in ratings from 2017 — and it's an all-time low in viewership for the awards show CBS officially ordered reboots of "Cagney and Lacey" — described as "a reboot of the iconic series about two female police detectives and friends who keep the streets of Los Angeles safe" —  and "Magnum P.I." — described as "an update of the classic TV series and is set in Hawaii. It follows Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator." SYFY has renewed "Happy!" for Season 2 Netflix has renewed "Fuller House" for Season 4 The CW has officially ordered a pilot for the new "Charmed" reboot series. It's been a year since the network announced the show, which was originally supposed to take place in the '70s. The network has allegedly scrapped the '70s theme for a "feminist angle," according to the show's official synopsis. Ian McKellen is insulted by the idea of someone else playing Gandalf in Amazon's "Lord of the Rings" TV series. According to the AV Club, he doesn’t specifically say that he wants to reprise his role on Amazon’s prequel, but he does note that he’s canonically still young enough to play Gandalf since the character is “over 7,000 years old.” NBC's next live musical event will be "Jesus Christ Superstar."
