This book will change your life, as an IBS patient. A Unique, Pivotal and “out of the box” Book about Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The author of this book is Dr. Mohammad Farivar, an exceptional gastroenterologist with extensive expertise in the management of inflammatory bowel disease. He has served as a Professor at Harvard Medical School, Boston University, and Tufts University. Millions of people in the United States are suffering from IBS like symptoms. They are being diagnosed and treated as IBS. The purpose of this book is to help these patients figure out what is causing their symptoms and take care of it. For the majority of them diet is the culprit and by recognizing and avoiding it one can put an end to future suffering. In this book, more than 40 reasons are blamed and several real life examples illustrate how difficult it may be to find the cause if you are not knowledgeable about the pathophysiology of GI tract and digestion and absorption of food.

Let's be real, as humans, we all get the occasional upset tummy (and this is perfectly normal). Our digestive system is a complex arena of microbiota, digestion, absorption, and processing. However, some people have more sensitive guts and this can lead to symptoms that impact quality of life and simply annoy the crap out of you (literally and figuratively here). One such condition that I have increasingly been seeing over the last few years, is IBS (Or Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I have worked with and helped many clients navigate this arena and regain “gut stability” and get rid of “funny tummy”.So what should one look out for? How can you know if you have IBS?In this episode, I will share 4 potential signs IBS may be an annoyance in your life. DISCLAIMER: The information in this video is for guidance only and is not individualized advice for you! Bloating is incredibly common - and while some of it is completely normal, for many people, it can start to feel unpredictable, persistent and disruptive to daily life. It may even worsen during the second half of the menstrual cycle (aka the luteal phase), when rising and falling levels of progesterone and estrogen slow digestion and increase gut sensitivity. In this episode, we're talking about the many causes of bloating (spoiler: it's more than just food), why it tends to fluctuate across different phases of your cycle, and what to do when it starts getting in the way of how you feel, function, or move through your day. You'll leave this episode with a better understanding of your body and practical ways to start identifying patterns and reducing discomfort, without over-restricting or falling into food fear.If you enjoyed this episode, we'd love to hear it; leave a rating and review!Episode links:Free Hormone + Gut Health Toolkit1-on-1 Nutrition Coaching ProgramsReferencesIovino P, Bucci C, Tremolaterra F, Santonicola A, Chiarioni G. If you've been managing IBS by avoiding certain foods but still experiencing unpredictable flare-ups, you're not alone. Emerging science shows that IBS is a complex condition involving multiple body systems: your nervous system, immune response, and gut microbiome all influence how and when symptoms appear. For something so physical, IBS is rarely just about the gut.I created this IBS Masterclass podcast episode to help you finally understand what's really driving your symptoms. And it's not just about food. Stress, sleep, movement, and even your gut-brain connection can all play a role in making IBS worse.Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS, affects nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide, yet it's still so often dismissed as "just a sensitive gut." The reality? IBS sits in that quiet, complicated space between physical and emotional. And we don't need more elimination diets or shame. We need understanding, compassion, and space to heal.To give you the clearest answers, I've brought together the world's leading gut health experts:Dr. Will Bulsiewicz – gastroenterologist and NYT bestselling author of Fiber Fueled, helping us understand the role of fiber, fermentation, and plant diversity in long-term digestive healthDr. James Kinross – colorectal surgeon and author of Dark Matter, exploring how gut bacteria influence inflammation, immunity, and disease riskDr. Emeran Mayer – gastroenterologist & neuroscientist, author of The Mind-Gut-Immune Connection, bringing over four decades of research into how emotions, microbes, and immunity shape the IBS experienceProfessor Felice Jacka – Director of the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University, pioneer in nutritional psychiatry, uncovering how food and mental health are deeply connected through the gutWe explore: • How stress and trauma shape gut-brain signalling • Why the vagus nerve is a key player in digestion• The misunderstood link between emotional health and IBS • Whether FODMAP diets help or simply mask deeper issues • And how to create a sense of calm in your body that supports long-term healingThis isn't just a masterclass. It's a myth-busting, life-affirming conversation that every person with IBS deserves to hear. You'll discover why your body reacts the way it does and learn how to listen with more compassion. Because sometimes, what looks like bloating or discomfort is your nervous system saying, "I don't feel safe."If IBS has made you feel frustrated, alone, or disconnected from your own body, I hope this episode brings you clarity and relief. You deserve to feel at home in your body again.Love,Sarah Ann

In this eye-opening episode we are talking about the gut issues nobody wants to talk about—IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). For millions of women, chronic bloating, pain, and unpredictable digestion have become their “normal”—but it doesn't have to be that way. I'm joined by Dietitian Ashley Hurst, founder of Crohn's & Colitis Dietitians, a gut health expert who is on a mission to bring awareness to the root causes of chronic gut inflammation, including stress, food sensitivities, trauma, and even immune dysfunction. Together, we unpack why these conditions are often misunderstood or dismissed—and what real healing can look like. These issues are so commonly paired with a thyroid condition. If you've ever been told “everything looks normal” but your body says otherwise, this episode is for you.

In this empowering and eye-opening episode, I sit down with the incredible Dr. Nikki DiNezza—a true expert in the world of gut health. Whether you're a runner, a health-conscious human, or someone who's just trying to feel better in your own skin, this conversation will resonate with you.Dr. Nikki shares her fascinating journey into gut health and explains how our digestive system is so much more than what we often think. We talk about why runners, in particular, need to prioritize their gut—especially if you've ever struggled with GI distress on a long run (yep, we've all been there!).Together, we explore the vital role of fiber, why stress management is essential for your gut and nervous system, and the truth about probiotics and prebiotics. Dr. Nikki also gets real about common pitfalls—like jumping too quickly into elimination diets or getting overwhelmed by functional medicine rabbit holes. What I love about this conversation is how practical and holistic it is. We talk about mindful eating, training your gut (just like you train your body!), and tuning in to what your body needs—without falling into restriction or fear.

Encouraging physicians to make a diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome and prescribe medication for it is big business. I'm not saying that medication for IBS is never a good idea or never effective, but I am saying that it is often an overly expedient solution that doesn't usually lead to lasting relief for the simple reason that IBS consists of multiple different conditions. You've got IBS. And you don't want to live a life of restrictive eating. What do you do? Well, in today's episode two dietitians with IBS-D are going to share what they know to help you enjoy what you're eating and feel your absolute best. Sometimes, eating with irritable bowel syndrome is like playing the slots: you never know what's going to pop up next. Maybe you've been doing well on a low FODMAP diet but all of a sudden your symptoms crop up again….with zero changes to your diet. Or, maybe you can't seem to figure out which foods are causing issues because sometimes you get symptoms and sometimes you don't…with the same food!Which is why I'm chatting withJessica Roocroft, a dietitian who's an expert in caring for the different subtypes of irritable bowel syndrome and also somewhat unique in her practice because her programs include gut-directed hypnotherapy as a way to help symptoms reside with as few dietary restrictions as possible. We're going to chat about how nutrition influences IBS…and also why foods aren't necessarily causing your symptoms. They may in fact just be exacerbating the symptoms caused by something else entirely. We're going to talk about the gut brain connection so you understand its impact on digestive health, totally free of the psuedoscience you usually see on social media. Jess shares a wealth of very specific and detailed information on tools and practices that might help you get your symptoms under control so you can actually enjoy food again and learn to live a less restrictive and more enjoyable food life. About Jessica Roocroft RD:Jessica Roocroft (just call her Jess) is a Registered Dietitian from North Vancouver, BC who owns and operates an Irritable Bowel Syndrome-focused private practice. Leyla highlights the advantages of dietary interventions as first-line treatments for IBS, the practical aspects of implementing these diets, and the study's broader implications for improving quality of life for IBS sufferers.

Do you struggle with chronic health problems like depression, allergies, or skin issues that just won't go away no matter what you try? According to Dr. Alejandro Junger, a renowned cardiologist and functional medicine practitioner, the root cause of these persistent ailments might be right under your nose - in your gut. In this Habits and Hustle podcast episode, I am joined by Dr. Junger as he shares his personal journey from struggling with debilitating depression and allergies to discovering the power of gut healing. He explains that a staggering 99% of chronic diseases are either directly caused by or related to gut health issues. We discuss the science behind how a "leaky gut" can wreak havoc on your entire system, leading to a host of seemingly unrelated symptoms. We also dive into practical tips on how to repair your gut through his innovative Clean Program, which has helped countless people around the world reclaim their health and vitality. Dr. Alejandro Junger is a Cardiologist and New York Times best-selling author.
