A federal judge tells the Pentagon its Anthropic ban was “illegal and baseless” after Anthropic refused to remove safeguards that would allow Claude to be used for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. Meanwhile, Sony and Warner are suing Anthropic over allegedly scraping and torrenting copyrighted music to train Claude, while a separate lawsuit accuses xAI of using child sexual abuse material in Grok training. Because nothing says “revolutionary technology” quite like a growing stack of lawsuits and federal judges.Elsewhere in the dystopian workplace, employees are increasingly fed up with AI, communities are pushing back against data centers, and one AI startup is fleeing that backlash for Saudi Arabia. Google's AI shopping mode is also accused of recommending products that cost significantly more than traditional search results, while Waymo and Zoox rack up injuries among test drivers. Tesla's Autopilot is implicated in another fatal crash, and FSD apparently still has a complicated relationship with freight trains. In the prediction-market casino, a federal appeals court sides with Nevada against Kalshi, while George Santos earns the platform's first lifetime ban for allegedly manipulating a market. And Meta's AI glasses are facing another privacy lawsuit, this time from the people who never bought the glasses but may have been recorded by them anyway.Plus, the new Twitter is back from the dead, complete with a $20 admission fee and an AI fact-checker named Vera; Sony would like you to understand that buying a digital game means you don't actually own the damn thing; Siri on the Apple Watch moves at approximately the speed of continental drift; JBL makes Wi-Fi speakers and we have Star Trek, Ted Lasso, Silo, Spaceballs, Wicked, The Traitors, The Gentlemen, and more. Sign up for our Patreon to listen to premium episodes: patreon.com/postingthroughit~~~Milo Yiannopoulos emerged during the alt-right's rise before Trump's 2016 win and went on to be arguably the movement's most famous—or infamous—influencer. A standout in a conservative MAGA space for his flamboyant dress and outspoken enthusiasm for gay sex, Yiannopoulos became a star of Steve Bannon's Breitbart News and helped drive the misogynist harassment campaign Gamergate before leading a notorious troll storm against Black comic Leslie Jones. He elicited protests on his "Dangerous Faggot" tour and landed a massive book deal before his comments about adults having sex with minors sent his trajectory in a star-crossed direction involving Kanye West collaborations, turning "straight," and being sent back to England at the hands of a brutal ICE agency he once championed.Jared and Mike's guest for this episode is Bobby Silverman, returning after previous Who the Hell episodes: Tim Pool, Dave Portnoy, and Michael Tracey. Bob interviewed Milo during the height of his celebrity, and together the three trace his path from his English upbringing to his recent deportation at the hands of frenemy Laura Loomer. So enjoy the limelight while you're in it — because one day you're America's bad boy, and the next you sink to the bottom of the sea, like a sodomy stone.Transition Music: "Never Outnumbered" by Shaolin Punk

Whatever type of music you love, Rick Rubin has probably left his mark on it. Rubin, a founder of Def Jam Recordings and a former co-chairman of Columbia Records, might be the most influential music producer alive. A very partial roll call of the artists he's worked with: Johnny Cash, Jay-Z, Run-DMC, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Slayer, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Neil Diamond, Brandi Carlile and Adele. We recorded this in 2023, after Rubin released a fascinating, unusual book, “The Creative Act: A Way of Being.” I'd expected stories of late-night sessions with famous musicians, but instead it read like a spiritual tract. Rubin was offering a guide to how to cultivate the mind states that lead to real creativity. And that's what this conversation was about, too: how to open yourself up more to the world, and learn to trust your own taste. Rubin's advice feels more relevant with each passing year, as technology gets ever better at hacking our attention and the world fills with A.I. slop. So I wanted to share this episode again. This episode is a recap — and an expansion — of the six-hour Mixing Masterclass that Dee Kei hosted live in his LA studio. Lu was in the room. The audience brought mixes. Things got real. Now Dee and Lu bring the best of it to the podcast, including the things they didn't get to cover in person. The first and most important topic: what is the actual value of a mix engineer, and how should that determine your pricing? Dee lays out a position he holds firmly — you should never discount your rate based on stem count, never negotiate yourself down before the client even asks, and never charge by the hour for mixing. Your rate reflects the lifetime of training behind each decision, not the time it took to make it. Like Picasso sketching on a napkin, the price isn't for the five minutes — it's for everything it took to get there. Lu adds the market reality: what your price communicates before the client even hears your mix, and why charging too little signals something you don't want to signal. From there the episode moves into compression — specifically what happened in the room when Dee deliberately smashed a vocal with an 1176 in "all buttons in" mode and the mix bus with a Vertigo VCA compressor just to prove a point. The reaction in the room said everything: over-compression isn't always wrong. Rules like "don't compress more than 2-3dB" are useful frameworks until the moment the song tells you otherwise. They also get into the subjective vs. objective nature of mixing — why saying "there's no such thing as a good or bad mix" is actually incorrect, and how to think about objectivity in a field where the tools of judgment are mostly invisible. The Shohei Ohtani analogy here is one of the better ones the show has produced. The episode closes with a breakdown of how Spotify's LUFS normalization actually works — including the gating behavior that means raising your quieter sections can paradoxically lower your integrated LUFS, and why album masters and single masters should be approached as two completely separate deliverables if you want your music to hold up in playlists.A lot covered. From Trump's major Venezuela oil announcement and escalating pressure on Iran to Milo Yiannopoulos' deportation and Hasan Piker's controversial past coming back into the spotlight, there was no shortage of political chaos this weekend. We break down Trump's Venezuela oil deal, Marco Rubio's reaction, new Iran sanctions, U.S. strikes on Iranian missile launchers, Scott Bessent's brutal response to Elizabeth Warren, and the media's latest Pete Hegseth speculation. Plus, Canada gets dragged into the madness with "Lake America," CBC's 9/11 language controversy, trade tensions, and some hilarious parody videos. Then things get even messier: Milo Yiannopoulos is deported, his old pro-deportation posts resurface, Laura Loomer and Tom Homan enter the conversation, and conservatives clash over what happened. Candace Owens sparks more speculation, Kathy Hochul delivers another painfully awkward moment, and Abdul El-Sayed faces repeated questions about his association with Hasan Piker as old Piker clips make the rounds again. We're also covering the latest on the Lindsay Clancy trial, Spencer Pratt's reaction, Michelle Obama talking about her daughters leaving home, Dolly Parton's Nashville honor, Billie Eilish getting roasted by Grok, and plenty of ridiculous viral videos to end the show.Be confident in your portfolio with Bulwark! Episode 111: Hit-Boy is one of the biggest producers in modern day music. He's produced some of the biggest songs for Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Drake, Travis Scott, Big Sean and Nipsey Hussle. He's a 3x Grammy winner. He gave Jay-Z the first diamond record of his career, off a beat that six artists turned down before it ever got to him. This Hit-Boy interview is different than the others he's done. We go deep into the craft, how the beats actually get made, cut, released, and paid! Why he's numbered every single beat he's made since 2006, and what happened to the 1,600 nobody picked. We got into all of it. Making "Backseat Freestyle" for Ciara before Kendrick ever heard it. Producing a #1 country record for Beyoncé. Being flat broke in 2017 with a future #1 already sitting on his hard drive. Getting free after 18 years and putting his new album out himself, on his own site, with no label and no DSPs. He also still makes everything in FL Studio, the same program he started on at 15 years old in Fontana, California. He's one of the most important producers of the last 15 years and he's still working like he has something to prove. His biggest days are still ahead of him. This one's for anybody who makes music in the modern world, especially hip hop and pop. I hope you enjoy my interview with the legendary, Hit-Boy! Huge thanks to our friends at DistroKid! North West is Dazed's new cover star, and the internet has a LOT to say. At 13, Kim Kardashian's eldest is being raked over the coals for her styling, her adults-only itinerary and a music tour that quietly collapsed, and we're unpacking why this cover has reignited the child-star debate all over again. And we're mourning the death of the original idea. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are reuniting for a How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days sequel, and while we love them, we're asking the bigger question: is Hollywood ever going to greenlight anything new again?Plus, we pay tribute to the late, great Tim Curry — the shape-shifting genius behind some of our most formative (and most terrifying) childhood characters, and the films worth revisiting to remember him.TAKE THE SPILL'S WEEKLY POP CULTURE QUIZ HERE Become a Mamamia subscriber and get an all-access pass to everything we make, including exclusive podcasts and early listening, subscriber-only articles, monthly giveaways and our home workout app, MOVE. From there it's El Chapo's vitamins and the corpses he lined his driveway with, Vlad the Impaler's welcome mat, which comic could start a cult, the CIA-adjacent Manson doc that Tom actually buys, the man who survived Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and a lone plane crash survivor who walked out of the fireball scrolling his phone. Fair warning: Dee Kei opens this one by saying he doesn't know if he's going to release it. Congratulations — you found it.This is a looser, more speculative episode than usual, and that's exactly the point. Dee brings a theory he's been sitting with: that the rise of AI tools and plugin saturation is quietly driving a resurgence in the value of analog gear — not because analog is objectively better, but because it represents something that AI fundamentally can't replicate. Humanness. Randomness. The chaos of a real circuit doing something slightly unpredictable.Lu, who has personally moved over $157,000 in analog gear sales and spent years tracking sold listings on eBay and Reverb, brings the market perspective. They get into which pieces actually hold their value (vintage preamps and compressors from the right era), which ones don't (anything mass-produced and recently released), and the old idea that buying the right gear is just another savings account you can twist the knobs on while you wait. From there the conversation opens up into some bigger territory. They talk about the current bubble of vintage mixer restoration and servicing companies popping up, what vibe coding is doing to the plugin marketplace, and how AI tools are being deployed very differently in live sound versus the studio — including a breakdown of the L-Acoustics source intelligence system and how it can achieve up to 40dB of feedback reduction in real time on a vocal channel. The episode wraps with Dee going full speculative: the Gartner hype cycle and where AI actually lands when the bubble pops, what nuclear fusion does to the cost of running AI at scale, and the two technology shifts he thinks will fundamentally change everything about how we make and experience music. It's the kind of episode that happens when two engineers with too much on their mind decide to just talk. The industry context makes it more interesting than it sounds.SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PATREON FOR EXCLUSIVE CONTENT!SUBSCRIBE TO YOUTUBEJoin the ‘Mixing Music Podcast' Discord!HIRE DEE KEIHIRE LUHIRE JAMESFind Dee Kei and Lu on Social Media:Instagram: @DeeKeiMixes @MasteredbyLu @JamesParrishMixesTwitter: @DeeKeiMixes @MasteredbyLuThe Mixing Music Podcast is sponsored by Izotope, Antares (Auto Tune), Sweetwater, Plugin Boutique, Lauten Audio, Filepass, & CanvaThe Mixing Music Podcast is a video and audio series on the art of music production and post-production. In this episode of Hip Hop What Ifs, host A and 12 Kyle are joined by hip-hop legend D-Nice to recount the history and cultural weight of anti-violence anthems. The crew also examines the West Coast's 1990 response, "We're All in the Same Gang," and explores why modern hip-hop struggles to produce similar unity projects today. The US musician, poet and performance artist reflects on "queer rap,” the industry that boxed him into it and the reinvention he's built on the other side.A consummate multi-hyphenate, Mykki Blanco (formerly she/her, now he/him) came up in a specific New York moment: the early '10s crossover between queer nightlife, noise and a rap underground that was just beginning to loosen its grip on who was allowed inside. Alongside artists like Le1f, Zebra Katz and Cakes da Killa, Blanco was lumped into a "queer rap" wave that acquired a cult following around the world, propped up MySpace and Tumblr. The co-signs came fast and from unlikely places. Blanco opened shows for Björk, Diplo and Major Lazer, collaborated with Madonna and spent seven months working closely with Kanye West. But he stayed outside the mainstream—partly by design, and partly because the industry of that era wasn't willing to let a Black queer rapper be anything other than a Black queer rapper. In this Exchange, Blanco reflects on the music industry's prejudices and limitations, and on how he's risen above them. After a few years off the touring circuit, he's back with a new album and a new sound. Café Paradiso, out in early September, is shaped less by the aggression that fuelled his early work, and more by solitude and mid-career reflection. He talks about his reinvention and more: the freedom that's come from leaving rap, the blueprint he laid for a whole generation of queer artists coming up behind him and what working with West actually looked like from the inside. Nipsey Hussle's posthumous album, Kanye West's peak era, and a blunt reality check on why so many kids still can't read - this episode covers the kind of conversations people actually argue about after the mic turns off. If you care about hip-hop, parenting, or what's really happening with attention spans, you'll want to hear this one.Tee The Mayor leads the conversation with Rod and Trigga Man as they unpack whether the new Nipsey project feels like a meaningful release or a money grab, which tracks actually land, and what it says about posthumous albums in general. From there, the crew gets into the bigger question: when was Kanye West really at his peak, and do the first three albums still hold up more than the later, more experimental era? You'll discover why some unreleased records feel complete while others sound like leftovers, how the group separates hook artists from full project artists, and why names like Drake, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Jeremih, Anderson .Paak, and Leon Thomas enter the chat. They also break down what makes an artist's sound timeless, what gets lost when albums become disposable, and why certain records still hit years later. Then the episode shifts into a much bigger conversation about education and accountability. The guys react to a viral teacher breaking down over students who can't read, debate whether the blame belongs to teachers or parents, and dig into the damage caused by no child left behind, social media parenting, and the pressure to perform for cameras instead of doing the real work. This one matters because it's not just about music or school - it's about standards, attention, and what happens when culture rewards flash over foundation. If you like raw opinions, sharp debate, and real talk that moves from rap classics to the state of the next generation, this episode is for you.

Lu brought the topic this week — and it's one of the most universally felt things in audio that nobody talks about directly: the feeling of not belonging in the room. Not because you don't have the skill. Not because you don't have the credits. Just because the feeling is there, and most people let it make the decision for them. The episode opens with Lu sharing what he keeps hearing in consultation calls — talented engineers at every level passing on sessions they would have handled just fine, because they didn't feel ready. Dee and Lu are direct about it: the gap between someone who is working and someone who isn't is almost never the quality of their mixing. It's almost always confidence and forward motion. They unpack what imposter syndrome actually looks like at different stages of a career — not just at the beginning, but also at the mid-level, when asking for help or shadowing someone starts to feel embarrassing in a way that holds people back just as much. From there, Dee reads from Daniel Kahneman's Thinking Fast and Slow — specifically the chapter on cognitive priming — and the episode gets genuinely fascinating. He walks through the Florida Effect study, where participants subconsciously primed with age-related words actually walked slower down a hallway without knowing it. Then the pencil experiment, where people forced into a smile by how they held a pencil in their teeth rated cartoons as funnier than those forced into a frown — without being aware their facial expression had changed at all. The implication is direct: acting calm and confident doesn't just make you look calm and confident to others. It statistically makes you feel calmer and more confident yourself. The conversation also takes an unexpected turn into money priming — how the mere presence of money-related imagery in your environment makes people measurably more independent, more self-reliant, and also more selfish and socially distant — and what that means for the environments engineers build and the mindsets they carry into sessions. It ends where it started: the feeling of not belonging is not evidence of not belonging. Send the email. Ask to sit in. Shadow the session. The only thing making the street look longer than it is, is you.SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PATREON FOR EXCLUSIVE CONTENT!SUBSCRIBE TO YOUTUBEJoin the ‘Mixing Music Podcast' Discord!HIRE DEE KEIHIRE LUHIRE JAMESFind Dee Kei and Lu on Social Media:Instagram: @DeeKeiMixes @MasteredbyLu @JamesParrishMixesTwitter: @DeeKeiMixes @MasteredbyLuThe Mixing Music Podcast is sponsored by Izotope, Antares (Auto Tune), Sweetwater, Plugin Boutique, Lauten Audio, Filepass, & CanvaThe Mixing Music Podcast is a video and audio series on the art of music production and post-production. Keef Carter returns to Vigilantes Radio Live for a deeper conversation about identity, storytelling, ownership and the next evolution of his creative career. The Harlem alternative hip-hop artist first joined Coach Dini to discuss his ByKEEF trilogy, the influence of Kanye West and Cassidy, his unconventional MTA songwriting process, and his belief that art can bring people back to life. This time, one statement changes the entire conversation:“I'm not really an artist. I'm a writer.”Keef opens up about what that realization means, why “Black boy joy” became central to his storytelling, the role Harlem continues to play in his creative identity, and how art galleries, train rides, fashion, film and everyday observation shape his writing. The conversation also explores Keef's plans to build a music production label, what ownership really means in today's industry, whether he'd rather create a hit for someone else than perform one himself, and how his ambition is evolving beyond simply becoming a successful recording artist. With BYKEEFX3 approaching and an August 28 performance at Trixx Lounge in Indianapolis on the horizon, Keef isn't simply preparing another release. He's beginning to define what comes after being the person behind the microphone.Spotify linkhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/1rPIKcoL1H005DjUMcGFw8?si=cDi6dU4LSw28O_d34kGwqA&utm_source=copy-linkInstagram @keefnycarterBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/vigilantes-radio-live--2166168/support.Vigilantes Radio Live! by The Only One Media Group ℗©2025Episode Credits:Produced, edited, mixed, and written by Demetrius "Whodini Blak" Reynolds, Sr.Artwork designed by Demetrius "Whodini Blak" Reynolds, Sr.Show Introduction by KateSegment jingles composed & produced by Demetrius "Whodini Blak" Reynolds, Sr.Additional music licensed through 7th Sign RecordingsLinks:onlyonemediagroup.comhttps://www.instagram.com/vigilantesradio/https://www.iheart.com/podcast/966-vigilantes-radio-live-29999229/https://www.instagram.com/whodiniblakin3d/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26009230/To support our show, please leave reviews, ratings, or you can help fuel the passion over at buymeacoffee.com/vigilantesradioEmail us at onlyonemgt@gmail.com or vradio@onlyonemediagroup.com

Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled his vision for an AI-powered utopia that mostly boils down to "trust humanity to do the right thing," which is a bold statement from the guy whose $300 million yacht apparently couldn't hear a Coast Guard distress call from a stranded family. Elsewhere, an AI agent booked a gym class by exploiting a security hole and kicking someone else off the waitlist, because nothing says "personal assistant" like accidental cybercrime. The EU is now requiring labels on realistic AI generated content, China is breaking up people and their chatbot companions, and OpenAI reportedly has achieved the ultimate AI ethics breakthrough: having no dedicated ethicist. The surveillance dystopia is also picking up speed. Flock tried to turn hundreds of thousands of rideshare and delivery drivers into a roving army of license-plate snitches, while every Flock camera in one Minnesota city was promptly sawed down and stolen. Meta's smart glasses continue their transformation into the preferred accessory of creeps and pickup-artist assholes, prompting pubs and other venues to ban them outright. Researchers found those glasses being used to secretly record and harass women, proving once again that every shiny new piece of wearable technology eventually gets repurposed as a tool for human depravity. And because apparently your car dashboard wasn't already commercial enough, BMW is now putting Spider-Man ads on the screens you paid tens of thousands of dollars to own. Finally, Apple is facing a class-action lawsuit over an iCloud Private Relay flaw that can expose your supposedly private IP address, Anthropic is watermarking Claude-generated text, SpaceXAI is taking another year to remove a pile of unpermitted gas turbines, and somebody is apparently stealing millions of dollars in AI hardware straight off California highways. We also hit Media Candy with Strange New Worlds, Silo, Broadchurch, Ted Lasso, and The X-Files, sweat through yet another Apple Fitness disaster, celebrate the sweet relief of escaping Spark, and ask the eternal Gen-X question: how did all this technology supposedly make life easier when we're still just sitting here surrounded by 47 goddamn tabs?Sponsors:CleanMyMac - Get Tidy Today!
