Confidence doesn't come from promotions, degrees, or other people telling you that you're impressive. In this episode, I revisit one of the earliest conversations on the podcast to break down the myths about where confidence comes from and why relying on external validation alone never works. You'll learn why starting with your past accomplishments is helpful but not enough and how the deeper work of confidence comes from developing internal trust in yourself. This episode lays the foundation for building confidence that is self-generated, resilient, and ready to support all areas of your life.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: schoolofnewfeministthought.com/432The Socratic Coaching Method Certification: thesocraticcoachingacademy.comFollow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil
The question of what happens after we die is one as old as time itself. We all wonder about it & are devastated by it at some point. Many fear it. And others feel that they already know or have even experienced it themselves. My guest this week, Ryan McCormick, produced an entire series of interviews based on the topic of the death and the afterlife. And all this within his pioneering podcast, "Outer Limits of Inner Truth," that delves into the profound mysteries of life, liberty, health, and the human spirit. Clearly I had a lot of questions, and accolades, for Ryan. We had a fantastic time chatting about all things other worldly. On this week's guest episode, Ryan shares how he came to embark on this journey of sharing stories of the Outer Limits of Inner Truth with the World. He shares about his early days of working with several mentors including metaphysical visionary Stuart Wilde to creating the "world's only show about Forensic Soul Analysis." Ryan tells us what made him decide to tackle death and the afterlife in such a comprehensive way, how he balances being respectful of different beliefs while exploring such spiritual territory, and what he hopes someone who's never thought about these topics gets from listening. Ryan's remarkable series, Journey Beyond Death, spanning 65 original interviews, including 28 with individuals who have had near-death experiences (NDEs), this series weaves together stories of survival, grief, revelation, and spiritual awakening. It brings together voices rarely heard in one place: grief counselors, psychologists, metaphysical teachers, mediums, and survivors of clinical death—all sharing their deeply human experiences and insights. The series begins by meeting listeners where they are: in the raw immediacy of grief. The opening episodes feature deeply personal accounts from people who have lost children, spouses, siblings, and close friends. These early stories are not sensational—they're sacred. They're grounded in real-world heartbreak, but also resilience, offering comfort to anyone navigating the silent terrain of mourning. Bio: Ryan McCormick is a public relations professional and the host and executive producer of "Outer Limits of Inner Truth," a pioneering podcast that delves into the profound mysteries of life, liberty, health, and the human spirit. Since its debut in 2014 on BlogTalkRadio, the show has earned its reputation as the "world's only show about Forensic Soul Analysis."McCormick is the co-founder of Goldman McCormick Public Relations and a Florida State University graduate (B.S. '00). He's the recipient of a 2016 Bulldog Reporter Corporate Social Responsibility PR Gold Award for his work on the Nick Hillary campaign, which helped lead to Hillary's exoneration.Born and raised in Long Island, New York, McCormick describes himself as a "perpetual seeker" and "Fringe Dweller" with an insatiable curiosity for science and spirituality. He's had the honor of working with several mentors including metaphysical visionary Stuart Wilde, Howard Stern, Ron Paul, and PR legend Michael Levine. His show has featured high-profile guests including Richard Belzer, George Noory, Dr. Ron Paul, Robert Kiyosaki, Dr. Naomi Wolf, and others.Show Link: https://www.outerlimitsradio.com/journeybeyonddeath/

We've all been there: standing at the crossroads of a parenting decision and wondering, am I making the wrong call? For many of us, the idea of letting our kids quit an activity feels like giving in—or worse, failing them. But what if the word “quit” is the problem in the first place? In this episode, Leslie Randolph sits down with psychologist Dr. Emily Gordon to reframe what's really going on when kids want out of something. Together, they swap “quitting” for a new lens: detours, decisions, and opportunities to choose differently. The conversation is equal parts practical and freeing, with guiding questions parents can ask themselves and their kids to figure out whether an activity is helping or hurting, whether resistance is about the activity itself or just the transition into it, and how to know when it's time to stay the course, or turn down a new road. They also talk about the deeper goal behind these decisions: raising confident teens who know how to check in with themselves, build resilience, and trust their own judgment. From family values to tween autonomy to the lifelong practice of self-confidence, this episode shows how even small parenting choices can strengthen the foundation for confident women in the future. The takeaway? There's no universal “right” answer. There's only the right decision for you and your family, right now. Let us know what you enjoy about the show!Take a journey into your inner landscape with this transformative guided meditation focused on reconnecting with your authentic power. Beginning with mindful breath awareness, this practice leads you to visualize your breath as golden light energy gathering in your solar plexus – your personal power center. Many of us unconsciously dim our light, hiding our gifts and talents from the world. Through gentle guidance, this meditation helps you identify where you might be "playing small" in your life, where self-doubt has crept in, and where anxiety might be physically stored in your body. As you direct healing breath energy to these areas, you'll experience a profound release of tension and a renewed sense of possibility."You are a powerful and beautiful being who came here not to dim your sweet soul," reminds the guide as you're led through a series of empowering affirmations: "I am powerful, I am connected, I am strong" and "I am ready." These words aren't just positive thinking – they're reminders of your essential nature and the gifts you were born to share. The meditation culminates with an invitation to be your own lighthouse – a guiding beacon not just for others but for yourself. In a world that often encourages conformity, this practice gives you permission to shine your unique light unapologetically. Whether you're facing challenges, seeking direction, or simply wanting to reconnect with your authentic self, this meditation offers a sanctuary of self-discovery and empowerment. Take these ten minutes to remember who you truly are. The world needs your light – are you ready to let it shine?Support the show

398 Everything We Do Can Create A Story Every living breathing moment, we contribute to our own story. Every job, every interaction with another soul, every moment we reflect, we write a significant line in our story and oftentimes we must take time to truly consider what we truly want to have in our story. Do we want exhaustion or loneliness to rule our narrative? Or do we want to forge our own community based on that which brings us joy and cherish the light within us? These are the questions we must ask ourselves. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Tracy MacDonald discuss the importance of living as much as possible, from adventures around the globe, to taking a moment to just breathe and take in the beauty of nature. And how in doing so you create a life for yourself and those you love to be proud of. Highlights Are your actions in alignment with how you want people to remember your story? What is grounding to you? What relationships, whether it be a place like nature or people around you, have you developed out of loneliness? It's never too late to change your label. What fears did you have and how did you get through them? And would that fear have stopped you? Quotes “Nature is always consistent, and I can go out and I can look for the beauty. And I find it really grounding.” “The more you practice getting outside your comfort zone, the more comfortable you become with it.” “I think you learn so much about America by being outside of it.” “Your skills are never wasted. Sometimes you're tapping into skills you learned early in your career and there's nothing wrong with that.” “It's interesting the stories that strangers will share with each other." Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Some of the things that Tracy said that are really strong in my memory, is that when she was facing things she was afraid of and she knew she wanted to push through, she asked a lot of questions. Open to taking risks. She prepared in that way and she practiced. She talked about doing this over and over and over again, knowing that once she stepped into her stretch zone once, she could stretch even further every time she did it again. She has a limited fear of failure allowing her to learn from each thing and here's the kicker; When she's brave, she likes how she feels about herself. She knows she's modeling the behavior she wants to see in people around her. Friends it's your turn. What are you going to do next that you're a little bit afraid of that you can ask enough questions to feel confident enough to step into that stretch zone? And start practicing. I'd love to hear your thoughts. And, as always, thank you for listening. About Tracy Tracy, a native of Columbus, Georgia, is a dynamic Fraud and Risk Consultant, public speaker, and former Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service. With an impressive career that spans roles such as Counter-Terrorism Instructor for the Defense Intelligence Agency and Lead Associate in Counter-Illicit Finance for Booz Allen Hamilton, Tracy exemplifies what it means to break barriers and lead with resilience and excellence. Be sure to check out Tracy's LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and her blog Carpe Diem Creative! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Episode #170: Today we explore the crucial topic of conflict resolution skills in relationships. In this episode, I reflect on recent experiences where I've observed adults struggling to effectively resolve conflicts, often due to fear and a lack of self-confidence. Through open, honest, and direct communication, we can foster trust and support in our relationships, whether within families, friendships, or professional teams. I share my personal approach to seeing the best in people, highlighting the importance of loyalty and mutual support. By prioritizing understanding and transparency, we can create stronger, more supportive connections. Continuing our conversation, I emphasize the significance of honest and transparent communication in maintaining healthy relationships. We often harbor grievances and speak behind people's backs instead of addressing issues directly, which can hinder harmonious coexistence. While difficult conversations may be uncomfortable, they are essential for productive interactions. I share personal experiences of fostering trust and openness and the necessity of moving on when this is not reciprocated. Confronting issues head-on rather than avoiding them can lead to more genuine and respectful interactions, paving the way for more meaningful connections. Lastly, I discuss how embracing our own success while celebrating the achievements of others can enhance our confidence and shield us from negativity. Conflicts often arise from jealousy and insecurity, but by cultivating unshakable confidence and understanding differing perspectives, we can resolve conflicts more effectively. I encourage listeners to reach out with empathy and a willingness to listen, addressing unresolved issues with loved ones to foster harmony and growth. I wrap up the episode with heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and engagement, inviting you to connect with me on social media and share your valuable feedback. It's different from our past ones because in this one, we picked out all the advice in a step-by-step, chronological manner that would best help you get your artistic career started. We begin with tips about the importance of creating good work, finding a mentor to help you improve, continuous practice, and above all, painting what you love and what matters most to you. Then we move on to the importance of living below your means and having good financial support such as getting a day-job to help support you as you learn to paint and build your portfolio. Once you've built up a good repertoire of work, you can join communities, build your network, apply to exhibitions, and consider reaching out to galleries. Just as important, of course, is making sure you have a beautiful website, social media channels to upload your work, and continue to build relationships with fellow artists. Finally, our past guests remind us of the importance of treating your craft like a business and also to never forget why you began painting in the first place. When you first take the Strengths Finder quiz, we often feel like those skills and talents are what you can use to guide and influence others, however if we forget to take time for ourselves, to turn our talents inward and focus on ourselves, we are failing ourselves by not acknowledging what we bring to the table. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Lindsey Van Gorp discuss the importance of introspection, fostering and growing our strengths, as well as how we need to wield our talents and skills in order to be the best version of ourselves, not just for others but for ourselves so that we may feel fulfilled in our lives. Highlights Have you ever done anything out of character for the sake of someone else? Are you direct in your communication or do you soften the edges of your words? Recognizing the innate strengths in everyone and how that builds community when you're aware of it. Do you use your talents solely for those around you or are you using them more introspectively to best show up for yourself? Quotes “Clear is kind, I think that's a thing I'm trying to learn and use more effectively. Because you're right, I have these strengths that make me a happy, sometimes soft person when it comes to my communication, and I'm learning to remind myself that it's actually far more kind to the person I'm communicating with if I am direct and clear in my communication instead of softening the edges of what I'm trying to get at.” “Once you're aware of it, you see it everywhere.” “I think mine is a combination of all of mine, I looked at the strengths as how they impact others; Like how does this show up for everyone around me? And I had spent less time thinking about how do they show up for myself? And even just that mindset shift of it's not always about how you can influence or impact those around you through them, but how am I using them towards myself?” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Even without using a tool or assessment like Strengths Finder, what questions can you ask people around you, the ones you clearly think differently from, what questions can you ask to get to the heart of why they do what they do and how they do it. Because when you can understand the language, you don't need to change who you are but you do need to learn a little bit of how to speak it. And, as always, thank you for listening. My friend, the loudest voice holding most people back isn't the world around them, it's the critic inside of them. In this episode, I'm going to show you how to silence that inner critic, break free from the lies it tells you, and start building the kind of self-confidence that cannot be shaken. If you've been doubting your worth, second-guessing your path, or letting fear keep you from your full potential, this message is your reminder that you are enough and it's time to live like it.
