Is love truly blind? Just ask the Love is Blind contestant who accidentally glued her eyeball shut (we're not laughing, you are). Today, we're celebrating Sarah's birthday by hoping she gets to do what she loves most, sneaking food into the cinema. We also vent about a torturous hike ruined by unprompted motivational speeches from men on the trail. Then, we get into the science of attraction. Think you have a "type"? Sarah explains why you're wrong, who you actually like, and why the person of your dreams is probably already off the market. The Dating Debate: Be honest, do you actually have a "type" or do you think it's all a myth?#LoveIsBlind #DatingMyths #RelationshipAdvice #DatingPsychology #MovieSnacks #HikingAdventures #TrailEtiquetteBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:This episode is sponsored by Betterhelp. As two women with reality TV backgrounds, we found it triggering, and discuss why people get so offended when we share negative experiences from our time on MTV.From the chaos of TV to the delights of recovery, we then explore the topic of EMDR therapy. We break down what experts are saying about it, why there is disagreement on why it works, and the concerns about some therapists getting fast and loose with their implementation of it. Finally, Susie discusses an interview with a woman who had no idea she was pregnant and accidentally gave birth in a toilet. We examine how it is possible for someone to be completely unaware of their pregnancy. In This Episode:Sarah is almost 40!A wild story about the OJ Simpson caseThe America's Next Top Model documentary and our MTV reality TV experiencesWhat experts say about EMDR therapy and its implementationHow someone can not know they are pregnant and give birth in a toiletThe Sponsors & Partnerships we Love:Get 40% off your first box PLUS get a free item in every box for life when you go to https://www.hungryroot.com/braincandy and use code braincandySupport the Brain Candy Podcast:Website: https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Book Recommendations: https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Merchandise: https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Candy Club: https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Sponsor Codes: https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Follow Us on Social Media & Platforms:LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights: https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It's Thursday, February 19th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark British preacher challenges buffer zones around abortion mills A preacher in Britain is challenging the country's abortion buffer zones which effectively censor the Bible. Officials arrested, charged, and convicted Stephen Green for holding a sign with a Bible verse near an abortion mill in 2023. The verse was Psalm 139:13 which says, “For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother's womb.” Green stated, “As a Christian, I should be able to preach freely all over the land. Psalm 139 is about how we all belong to God from conception. Buffer zones and this conviction [are] a direct attack on the Bible and free speech.” Elon Musk endorsed new conservative political party in England Billionaire Elon Musk endorsed a new conservative political party in Britain last week. On Friday, Member of Parliament Rupert Lowe launched the Restore Britain Party. Musk shared the launch video on X which has received nearly 40 million views.  The party is devoted to ending mass immigration and the creeping Islamification of Britain. Rupert Lowe also stated the party will openly recognize the country's Christian heritage.  Listen. LOWE: “Restore Britain will openly recognize the Christian heritage that shaped this country's moral and civic foundation. (applause) Duty, restraint, forgiveness and, most importantly, fairness. These values created a high trust society. “Restore Britain will end the creeping Islamification of Britain. (applause)  Unfettered immigration from Islamic countries will end. (applause) Britain is a Christian country, and under Restore Britain government, it will remain a Christian country.” (applause) Church of England votes against blessing homosexual couples Last week, the Church of England  voted against proposals to allow blessing services for homosexual couples. The General Synod did not shut the door on the issue though, voting to investigate it in the future.  The move keeps the church from performing marriage services and blessing services for people living in unnatural relations. However, the Church of England's rules already allow blessing prayers within regular Sunday services for such couples.  Proverbs 25:26 says, “Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” Franklin Graham preached in world's southernmost city Evangelist Franklin Graham  preached in Ushuaia, Argentina. It's known as the southernmost city in the world. Listen. GRAHAM: “What makes Ushuaia so special are the people. We love the people. If you can't remember anything else tonight, remember this: God loves you. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take our sins. We deserve death. We're guilty of sin. “Bartimaeus had no hope. There are many of you here tonight. You have no hope. Now, Bartimaeus cried at the right time. Jesus was passing by. The Bible says that ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but he should have everlasting life.' “Will you invite Christ into your heart? Will you trust Him? Come. Come to Jesus.” Hundreds of people turned to Christ through the evangelistic outreach event. Graham wrote on X, “We give God the glory for each one who responded to the invitation to repent of their sins and put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.” Eighty-two percent of South Americans identify as Roman Catholic, but evangelicalism has been growing in recent decades.    Graham also plans to visit Peru next month. 21 states challenge mail-order abortion kill pills In the United States, 21 states and 60 members of Congress are challenging mail-order abortion drugs. Louisiana initiated the case, challenging a Biden-era rule from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The rule removed the in-person dispensing requirement for the abortion drug mifepristone.  Erik Baptist with Alliance Defending Freedom stated, “The Biden FDA's unlawful authorization of mail-order abortion drugs was meant to be a loophole around states that choose to protect life.” 41-year-old mother Olympic bobsledder wins gold (audio Olympic theme song) American Olympic bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor  won her first gold medal on Monday. The 41-year-old mother triumphed in the women's monobob event at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.  She is now the oldest gold medalist in an individual Olympic event. After the victory, she said this on Instagram: “The moment we prayed for. Glory to God.” Norway has won the most gold medals Nearly 2,900 athletes from over 90 countries are competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics.  So far, Norway has won the most gold medals and the most medals overall. In the medal count, Norway is followed by Italy and the U.S. A podium finish can mean big prize money for athletes. A gold medalist from the U.S. can win $38,000. Athletes from Singapore can make the most for winning an individual event at $792,000.   Christian missionaries sharing Christ & Bibles in Olympic crowds And finally, Evangelicals are sharing the Gospel at the Winter Olympic Games this year. Hundreds of Southern Baptists alongside International Mission Board missionaries are joining the crowds to share Christ and distribute Bibles. Karen Herfurth is in Italy with a group from Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. She said, “This is a chance for Southern Baptists to reach more people and impact more lives! We may never know the difference this makes until we are in Heaven.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, February 19th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  Plus, you can get the Generations app through Google Play or The App Store. It's Tuesday, February 17th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed 90,000 Nigerians displaced due to Islamic violence More than 90,000 Catholic Nigerians have been displaced in the Southern Taraba State since September 2025, reports International Christian Concern. According to the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, over 100 people have been killed and thousands more wounded in that same time frame. U.S. funds United Nations, Dept of Ed, and Nat'l Institutes of Health The Trump administration is still funding the United Nations.  President Donald Trump approved another $3 billion dollars to the international organization in early February, according to Reuters.  The U.S. has averaged $2.5 billion dollars of funding each year for the United Nations, over the last twenty years.  America joined the United Nations back in 1945, and is its largest donor.  And, despite vowing to close down the U.S. Department of Education during his campaign, the president has signed a government funding bill that will jack up the Education Department budget 2025 levels by $217 million for a total of $79 billion. That's $12 billion more than the administration's original request. Plus, the National Institutes of Health gets another increase of $415 million over Fiscal Year 2025. In total, $48.7 billion of taxpayer money will keep this bureaucracy alive and flourishing. Republican states take action to cut property taxes Several Republican-majority states are working to reduce and eliminate property taxes for citizens. North Dakota, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, and Texas have made progress. Plus, Tennesseans will consider a ballot measure this November to eliminate the property tax. Several states are also working to trim or fully end state income taxes, with nine states having zero income tax in 2026.  One-third of young women call themselves homosexual or transgender The Gallup polling organization released new numbers on Americans identifying with a list of sexual perversions.   Now, 9% of U.S. adults call themselves sexually perverted, up from 7% in 2023, and 3.5% in 2012. The increase has occurred with the younger generation primarily. Now, almost a quarter of 20-somethings and roughly one-third of young women call themselves homosexual or transgender. Also, 10% of the 30 to 49-year-olds claim these perverse identities. Transgender murderers kill at 10 times rate of general population As The Worldview reported on February 12, the mass murderer held responsible for perpetrating Canada's worst school shooting in recent history was a man pretending to be a woman, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Jesse Van Rootselaar killed his mother and seven others, and wounded 27, before killing himself in the massacre in a remote town in British Columbia. Another man pretending to be a woman, Robert Westman, was the perpetrator at the Annunciation Catholic School shooting last August. At least five other mass-casualty shootings are attributed to men and women attempting to change their gender. That includes the Aberdeen, Maryland Rite Aid shooting, the STEM School killings in Denver, Colorado, the Club Q massacre in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Covenant School massacre in Nashville, Tennessee. Also, the Iowa Perry High School perpetrator appeared to be pushing the transgender agenda. A recent study from National Review found that transgender suspects participate in mass shootings at a rate of 10 times that of the rest of the population. Alabama's Governor signs Child Predator Death Penalty Act Alabama Republican Governor Kay Ivey signed the Child Predator Death Penalty Act into law late last week, reports WVTM13.  This law assigns the death penalty to crimes of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, and first-degree sexual assault of victims under age 12. Biblical law assigns a serious penalty to those who kidnap or seize people against their will. Exodus 21:16 says, “Now one who kidnaps someone, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall certainly be put to death.” Kansas governor vetoes law to keep boys out of girls spaces Kansas Democratic Governor Laura Kelly  vetoed a bill passed by the Kansas legislature that would have kept biological males out of women's bathrooms.  The bill would have prosecuted any men, pretending to be women, who trespass in women's spaces, on repeated offenses. Hopefully, the state legislature will override the veto, given that the Republican Party holds a two-thirds majority in both houses.   So far, 20 states have passed laws that ban men from invading women's spaces. Proverbs 17:13 reminds us, “Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.” Puerto Rico affirms value of human life from conception Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González-Colón  signed a bill that affirms the humanity and dignity of an unborn child, from the moment of conception.   Governor González-Colón said the bill “classifies as first-degree murder the intentional and knowing killing of a pregnant woman, resulting in the death of the unborn child at any stage of gestation within the mother's womb.” This was passed mainly for purposes of homicide and criminal law. While this personhood law does not automatically ban abortion outright in Puerto Rico, pro-lifers are hopeful it will pave the way for future legal protections of unborn babies. 47% of Americans think visitors from other planets have visited Earth  (theme from the movie E.T.) Interest in extraterrestrials and UFOs is at an all-time high in the United States. A “Yougov” survey found 47% of Americans believe extraterrestrials have visited the Earth. Former President Barack Obama says ET's probably exist. But he clarified on Instagram that, “I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us.” Pokemon card sells for $16 million And finally, a trading card has netted the highest private sale amount in history.  A Pokeman card took in over $16 million over the weekend. That beats the last world record sale of a 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card, which sold for $12.6 million in 2022. There were only 41 of this particular Pokemon card produced in 1998. That compares to 75 billion Pokemon cards printed in 2025. Pokeman is a game wherein the players play-act the harnessing of the power wielded by demons or monsters. Extra print stories United States military strikes ISIS in Syria The US military conducted strikes on more than 30 ISIS targets in Syria since the beginning of February.  According to US Central Command, or CENTCOM, the attacks "struck ISIS infrastructure and weapons storage targets with precision munitions delivered by fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned aircraft." CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper said, “Striking these targets demonstrates our continued focus and resolve for preventing an ISIS resurgence in Syria. Operating in coordination with coalition and partner forces to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS makes America, the region and the world safer."  More than 50 ISIS terrorists have reportedly been killed in the past couple of months by the United States military. Tensions remain high between the US and the Middle East, with all eyes on potential military action in Iran.  US House passes SAVE Act The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act requiring those who vote in American elections to provide proof of citizenship. The bill passed 218-213, with every House Republican voting in favor of the measure. Texas Democrat Henry Cuellar also crossed the aisle to vote for the law. The law is touted by Republicans as a simple way to secure American elections and to eliminate cheating and foreign influence. Americans also overwhelmingly favor the requirement of a photo ID to cast a vote. However, the bill faces a hard road in the Senate, with Republicans holding only 53 seats, but needing 60 votes to pass the SAVE Act. Psalm 67:4 says, “O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon Earth.”

Love is in the air as Valentine's Day approaches, but while Sarah and Amy are navigating a new romantic milestone, Susie is mostly just finding the whole shift deeply annoying. The duo dives into the social dynamics of the season by dissecting the functional differences between friendship and community, exploring why we need both even if they serve wildly different purposes in our lives. The conversation takes a sharp turn into "fitness cults" as Sarah realizes her old workout routine was less about health and more about a non-religious devotion to a gym leader, before pivoting to a bizarre news story involving a WWI artillery shell and a very delicate emergency room extraction. Naturally, this leads to a candid and hilarious debate over the 69 position; Sarah maintains it is an overrated logistical nightmare, but after Susie's passionate defense, the pair concludes that Sarah's distaste is likely just a result of poor execution.00:00 - New Relationship Dynamics and Valentine's Day Expectations10:19 - Understanding the Different Needs of Friendship and Community16:44 - Film Students and the Decline of Attention Spans24:41 - Manage Your Money and Cancel Subscriptions with Rocket Money26:46 - The Problem with Grading on a Curve in Academia30:47 - A Bizarre Emergency Room Visit: Unexploded Artillery Shell42:07 - Amplify Your Everyday with Thrive Cosmetics and Community Support44:56 - Sarah and Susie Debate the Logistics of the 69 Position49:57 - Experiencing Awe: Aquanauts and the Underwater Overview Effect54:16 - Why Public Dancing is Disappearing and Overcoming EmbarrassmentBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Let Rocket Money help you reach your financial goals faster. Steven C. Law, author of the new book, THE STORY OF BOB (Feb. 16, 2026)? Steven tells the life of Reverend Robert W. Wood: a World War II veteran, ordained Christian minister, and early gay rights advocate who chose visibility at a time when silence was often the only path to survival. In 1960—nearly a decade before Stonewall—Wood published Christ and the Homosexual, a radical act that openly affirmed gay people within a religious world that overwhelmingly rejected them.Drawing from intimate interviews and deep archival research, Law traces Wood's life from his early awareness of his identity, through wartime service, to his involvement with the Mattachine Society and his quiet but consequential role in shaping early LGBTQ+ advocacy. Wood was never famous, never safe, and never passive. His activism came with real costs—professional, personal, and spiritual. What makes The Story of Bob especially compelling for LGBTQ+ readers is its human scale. This is not a mythic hero's tale, but the story of a gay man navigating love, faith, fear, desire, and integrity in a world that offered him very few models for living openly. The book restores Bob to queer history as someone who lived authentically when doing so could cost everything.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Christian groups want to overturn homosexual marriage, Colombian president denies divinity of Jesus Christ, De-transitioner awarded $2 million

It's Wednesday, February 4th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Colombian president denies divinity of Jesus Christ Christians across Colombia recoiled at recent remarks made by President Gustavo Petro. The nation's leader denied that Jesus is Christ, describing Him instead as a “man of light, of truth and a revolutionary.” This public attack on Biblical truth comes as Christians continue to face persecution and physical attacks in the country.  Criminal organizations have killed at least 10 pastors in Colombia over the last year. Sadly, the government provides little protection for church leaders. Psalm 2:11-12 warns rulers, “Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” U.S. forces shoot down Iranian drone over Arabian Sea A U.S. fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone as it approached a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea on February 3rd, the U.S. Central Command has announced, reports The Epoch Times. The incident comes at a moment of heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. President Donald Trump recently ordered naval forces to the Middle East and has threatened military strikes on Iran if it does not agree to new limits on its nuclear development. The U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, said the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was operating about 500 miles from Iran's southern coast on Tuesday, when U.S. forces spotted what they identified as an Iranian Shahed-139 drone. When the Iranian drone “unnecessarily maneuvered toward” the aircraft carrier, the U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces issued de-escalatory instructions, but the drone continued on its path toward the aircraft carrier. That's when an F-35C Lighting II stealth fighter jet, assigned to the aircraft carrier, intervened and shot down the drone. Thankfully, no American service members were harmed during the incident, and no U.S. equipment was damaged. Conservative candidate wins presidency of Costa Rica Meanwhile in Central America, conservative candidate Laura Fernández Delgado won Costa Rica's presidential election on Sunday. She gave thanks to God following the election victory.  Life News reports that Fernández emphasized moral values and the protection of unborn babies during her campaign. She stated, “Defending the lives of Costa Ricans who have not yet been born is an obligation of the State. Abortion is nothing more than murder and, therefore, penalties must be toughened.” Christian groups looking to overturn homosexual marriage In the United States, a coalition of conservative groups launched a campaign last month to overturn Obergefell.  The infamous Supreme Court ruling from 2015 legalized faux homosexual marriage.  The campaign, known as the Greater Than movement, calls for protecting children from being put in the middle of such unbiblical relations.  Listen to comments from Dr. Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  MOHLER: “Marriage is actually the most basic institution of human civilization. You redefine marriage, you have just destroyed the house. You can put together a new house and claim it's the same. Children will know the difference. It harms children in virtually every way imaginable.” De-transitioner awarded $2 million The Epoch Times reports a New York jury found a psychologist and plastic surgeon liable for malpractice in a transgender case last week.  The doctors supported and performed a double mastectomy on a 16-year-old girl who claimed to be a boy. Fox Varian is 22 now and no longer pretends to be a boy. She was awarded two million dollars in the case. Varian is the first de-transitioner to win such a malpractice lawsuit.  Nearly 30 more de-transitioner lawsuits are in process across America. Trump stands with pharmacies for not carrying Abortion Kill Pills The Trump administration is protecting pharmacies from having to carry abortion kill pills. Under the Biden administration, the Department of Health and Human Services required pharmacies serving Medicare or Medicaid patients to carry abortion drugs. The department rescinded that mandate last week. This is part of the government's policy to “end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.”  Red states are growing and blue states are shrinking The U.S. Census Bureau released its latest Population and Housing Unit Estimates last week. Red states, like Texas, are growing, while blue states, like California, are shrinking.  Based on this, the American Redistricting Project released its 2030 Apportionment Forecast of how these demographic trends will affect Congress. Texas and Florida could gain a combined eight congressional seats. Meanwhile, California and New York could lose six seats. 83% of U.S. adults believe in God; 25% attend weekly religious service Pew Research released new analysis of Americans' religious beliefs and practices. The analysis shared the data as if the U.S. population were scaled down to 100 people.  In that case, 83 people would believe in God or a universal spirit. Fifty-two would believe in Heaven and Hell. Forty-four would pray daily. Thirty-eight would say religion is very important in their lives. And only 25 would say they attend religious services at least weekly.  Romans 11:5 reminds us, “Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” U.S. life expectancy rose to 79 And finally, U.S. life expectancy rose to a record 79 years in 2024. This according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Life expectancy at birth for women rose to 81, and for men it rose to 76. Meanwhile, the age-adjusted death rate decreased nearly four percent from 2023. The increased life expectancy comes after improvements following the COVID-19 pandemic as well as declines in overdose deaths.  Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, February 4th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). My frequent conversation partner Blake Smith is back on the pod today to talk about his book-in-progress on the pioneering gay editor Michael Denneny as well as a related essay, “For the Love of the Gay World,” just published in a new anthology. In both endeavors, I think, he's doing some version of the same thing, which is to make his case, that gay men briefly had, then lost, but could have again a coherent, self-reflective cultural and intellectual world by and for themselves. As he writes:Part of what the playwright Larry Kramer called, two decades ago, the tragedy of today's gays is that in order to begin a potentially generative, or productively divisive, conversation about the state of male homosexuality (its culture and politics, its problems and affordances) we must undergo an ordeal of conceptual and historical clarification. Without doing so, we are likely to miss the real objects of our agreement and disagreement, wasting time with opinions expressed in each interlocutor's jumble of inherited, half-comprehended categories. It is hard for gays to talk sensibly to each other about where we are and how we got here; the ideas by which we understand that ‘we' and its emergence in time are so contested and confused. This makes gay thinking peculiarly dizzied, harried and disoriented. It is often in doubt whether there is any gay ‘we' (or any gay thinking) —or whether ‘we' do in fact wish for our talk to reach out to such a ‘we' rather than merely confirm ourselves individually in what we already take ourselves to think and know.In the following I will try to do two things at the same time. I will try to clarify the routes through history by which certain concepts have come down to us, and to trace their relationships and contradictions. Disentangling homosexual, gay, and queer, and the movements by which these terms were conceived and contested, may allow us to talk more with more clarity about the objects of our dis/agreement. At the same time, as I lay out—in a sketchy, rapid, and admittedly contestable fashion—this history, I will show how there came to be, at a few different times and places, a self-conscious articulation of the interest and pleasure that we take in talking to each other about ourselves, and of the desire to perpetuate ourselves individually and collectively that is adumbrated in this talk. Our talking together both reflects and forms what Hannah Arendt (whose relevance to gays will become clearer over the course of this essay) called a world. Which is not a physical place. A world, in this sense, is what is communicable to a group of people, what they can hold together in their talk. It is also the set of practices by which that communicability is maintained (the fact, for instance, of our having a shared vocabulary and grammar, but also of our having reasonably similar psychologies and common objects of perception). Worlds can expand and contract, and also collapse. Whether we want to speak to someone about an apparently external object or an apparently internal thought, the possibility of our doing so successfully depends there being already a world that contains us, our intended interlocutor, and the topic we want to address. His framework involves a periodization of three distinct eras: the “homosexual” phase of the late 19th and early 20th century, when doctors, psychologists, and the men they studied were constructing new categories of identity; the “gay” era that emerged in the mid-20th century and flourished after Stonewall; and the “queer” phase that began in the 1980s and now dominates how we talk about sexual minorities. His argument, stripped down, is that the gay era represented something genuinely new in the world. Before that point there existed various ways of characterizing sex between men, but there wasn't a publicly visible and accessible identity oriented around the idea of two men being together as romantic equals, without one becoming feminized, without requiring a status differential, old and young, top and bottom. This emerged organically from bars and cruising spots and men finding each other in mid-century American cities, and then from that base there evolved a self-conscious culture, one in which Denneny, through his magazine Christopher Street and his editorial work at St. Martin's Press, was a central figure. Then in some respects this culture died, or attenuated. Literally died, in many cases, with so many deaths from AIDS. But also at the hands of the queer paradigm, which supplanted it first in the universities, and then much more broadly in the culture. Queer as an identity, in Blake's construction, did a few things. It conceptualized the queer as a potentially universal, or universally accessible, counter-normative, transgressive force. Anything could be queer, or queered, if it stood or was understood at certain angles to the normative.More problematically, from Blake's stance, it subsumed the gay male identity into a larger queer collective identity that included first lesbians and transgender people but soon anyone, including old fashioned straight folks, who wanted to align themselves with the queer. And this has meant, among other things, that there is simply less psychological and cultural energy available for the maintenance and development of the gay world, as Denneny understood it, particularly in the aftermath of the death of so many gay men from AIDS and particularly because gay men don't biologically reproduce themselves. They need more conscious, deliberate reproduction of their culture, their world.A subtext of our discussion, which we reference but don't really delve into, is that Blake's political orientation has shifted a lot over the last year or so, since Trump was left. He hasn't gone left, precisely. His policy preferences remain roughly the same, basically old new school new deal left liberal social democracy-esque. He's just not interested anymore in aiming his fire at certain elements of the left.I think I've undergone a shift as well, though to a much lesser degree, and with no guilt. I'm more interested in critiquing and thinking about the flaws of the right, now that those flaws are so evident and so damaging to the country. That's definitely a shift. But it still feels important to me to critique the left, in part because that's just my beat, but also because the stakes are really high.To this point, my brother Jonathan said something to me the other day that I hadn't thought about but made a lot of sense. He lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has been involved in the organizing there against the ICE invasion. What he said is that it's pretty clear to him that people in the Twin Cities have internalized the hard lessons from mistakes made after the George Floyd killing. They're thinking, much more strategically than the last time, about how to act so as to elicit sympathy rather than aversion from the broad mass of people in the middle politically. They're sidelining the idiots from antifa and the abolish the police crowd. They're super conscious of the need to avoid riots and looting. Etc.And you can see the results, how powerful and effective their opposition has been. I think critique is a small but important element in the process that leads to that result. So I'll keep being a pain in the ass on that front, but spend more time looking at the right and also try to spend more time in the space where I think blake is right now, which is trying to think constructively, creatively about new possibilities for culture and politics that we might want to explore on the other side of the culture wars. Sarah's outdoor adventures never stop, and this time she ended up in a ski parade! While Susie has resorted to wearing heated apparel inside. Susie shares the story of Andrea Yates, the woman who killed her five children, and the religious beliefs that made her think she should. Susie is worked up about how grandparents now insist on being called all kinds of weird names and Sarah's got a theory about why they don't want to be called "grandma." We discuss the abundance of "service" dogs on planes and the reasons people bend the rules to get their dog on board, and why it's the airlines's fault. And we hear about two babies who were switched at birth and it wasn't discovered until they were two years old, and the moms had to decide whether to switch them back or not! The Secret Teachings
BEST OF TST (9/16/25) BROhemian Grove: Caught in the Acts

The Secret Teachings

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 4, 2026 120:00 Transcription Available

BEST OF TST: Peter Thiel of Palantir is hosting a lecture series on the Antichrist in San Francisco between September 15 and October 6, 2025. Entirely secretive, the talk is put on by Acts 17 Collective, referring to the Biblical book of Acts wherein we read about how the divine being is not like material things (gold and silver) but instead something far more valuable. Is this ironic or intentional? Many see this as the fulfillment of prophecy, but perhaps it is the fulfilling of pop-culture prophecy instead. Perhaps technocrats are playing and preying on 4 billion Christians and Muslims to run a scenario designed to strip away faith in the divine and parlay it into technology. A satirizing of eschatology? The tech-bros believe that God messed up and man can fix it by replacing organic creation with synthetics. Everlasting life can be achieved through gold and silver (material means) which will extinguish the real spiritual nature of mankind - the true gold that is ‘Christ' consciousness - and replace it with antichrist consciousness. In the process, vampires like Thiel will feed on your corpse. True eternal life begins with recognizing death and choosing to make the world a better place anyways rather than becoming a nihilist. It is the choice of Christ consciousness and of faith in what lies beyond. One often overlooked detail of the technocracy is the apparent obsession with homosexuality, transgenderism, and Judaism. Consider the gay technocrats of Thiel, Yuval Harari, Sam Altman, and the debated sexuality of Alex Karp. All but Thiel are also Jewish, as is Larry Ellison and Curtis Yarvin, the man giving JD Vance many of his philosophical ideas. In fact, Thiel and Yarvin created Vance and influence him through their Dark Enlightenment philosophy, which wants to replace governments with a techno-monarchy equivalent to the Christian concept of a NWO. Are their Homosexual practices recycling sexual energy to create synthetic life? Homosexuality is also a rejection of God's creation, which is why so many Jews embrace not just homosexuality but the entirety of LGBTQ. People like Sam Altman have placed the hexagram into his ChatGPT logo while he has unveiled an ORB device that is a machine which confirms your humanity. We need only recall Matthew 26 where the high priest Pharisees accuse Jesus of being the Son of God to which Jesus rejects such a notion and lectures them on the end of their monopoly over salvation. The tech-bros are the modern pharisees and they not only reject Christ, but intend to convince his followers to fight a Holy War, and then offer salvation from the destruction with their vampiric machines. Alex Karp has promised a 3-front war is coming and Larry Ellison did say that most of the advanced AI technology was coming from Herzliya Israel, not Silicon Valley, which would make it a brother to transgenderism which finds its home in Tel Aviv. If all of this is slightly more true then it means Israel is the beast and the Balfour Declaration of 1917 was the dragon giving power unto the same. This is probably why the Trump administration has given military roles to the tech-bros and held high-profile dinners for Silicon Valley technocrats who he is himself a slave too. Hence the cutting of his right ear as a result of an assassination attempt, which Biblically speaks to the servant of the high priest, which in the Church of Satan is MAGA.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. A celebrated playwright at the height of fame, Oscar Wilde became fodder for scandal and ruin when he chose love over self-preservation. His brilliant career was extinguished in a courtroom where his queerness became the weapon used to destroy him. In 1895 Victorian England, homosexuality was not just taboo, it was a crime, and Oscar Wilde's passionate affair with Lord Alfred “Bosie” Douglas drew the wrath of Bosie's father, the Marquess of Queensberry. What began as a libel suit against that father's public accusation of “posing as a sodomite” thrust Wilde into a nightmarish legal spectacle that exposed his private life to the world's prying eyes. As the libel case collapsed, the evidence gathered was turned over to authorities, leading to multiple trials for gross indecency under laws that criminalized queer intimacy. Newspapers and courtroom spectators dissected Wilde's love, his works, and the very phrase “the love that dare not speak its name,” turning a queer history moment into a public obsession. Hostile judges, invasive testimony, and Victorian moral panic culminated in a devastating conviction, years of hard labor, and exile in France, where Wilde's health, reputation, and family were forever altered. This episode examines the personal cost of queer desire under oppressive laws and the cultural backlash that followed one of the most infamous queer trials ever. Hosted by Jordi and Brad, Beers With Queers brings chilling crimes, queer stories, and twisted justice to light, all with a cold one in hand. However, seven church leaders remain in detention after two decades without a charge or a trial, reports the Christian Post. Open Doors noted this week that the release appeared to include believers, businesspeople, and politicians. The names of those freed have not been made public, but the group confirmed that none of the seven church leaders it has advocated for, over the years, were among them. The leaders have each been detained for more than 20 years without legal proceedings. In addition, Open Doors said they have not been permitted to see family members, have access to a lawyer, or appear before a court. Hebrews 13:3 says, “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” In national address, Trump says prices coming down In an 18-minute speech from the White House on Wednesday night, President Donald Trump discussed the economy. (Read the transcript here) TRUMP: “Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I'm fixing it. When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say, in the history of our country, which caused prices to be higher than ever before, making life unaffordable for millions and millions of Americans. This happened during a Democrat administration, and it's when we first began hearing the word affordability.” He addressed the falling cost of goods and services since he took office in January of this year. TRUMP: “I am bringing those high prices down and bringing them down very fast. Let's look at the facts. Under the Biden administration, car prices rose 22% and in many states 30% or more. Gasoline rose 30 to 50%. Hotel rates rose 37%. Airfares rose 31%. “Now, under our leadership, they are all coming down and coming down fast. Democrat politicians also sent the cost of grocery soaring, but we are solving that too. The price of a Thanksgiving turkey was down 33% compared to the Biden last year. The price of eggs is down 82% since March, and everything else is falling rapidly.” Arrest warrant issued for Brown University shooter Authorities have reportedly issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the Brown University mass shooting that occurred last week in Providence, Rhode Island, and are investigating a potential link between the school massacre and the murder of an MIT professor, reports The Western Journal. Just two days after the Brown shooting occurred, Nuno Loureiro, who taught plasma physics at MIT, was shot at his home Monday in Brookline, Massachusetts. He later died of his injuries. During the shooting at Brown, two students were killed and nine others were wounded after the gunman opened fire Saturday afternoon inside a campus classroom during final exams. The male suspect, who is 5'8” with a stocky build, escaped from the building. Army officer once ousted by COVID shot mandate now leads reintegration efforts On October 2, 2025, U.S. Army Colonel Kevin Bouren was administered the oath of office by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, formally returning Bouren to active duty. The event concluded his three-year separation from the Army, a period initiated by the Department of Defense's 2021 COVID-19 shot mandate, reports the U.S. Army's Communication Office. Bouren, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an officer with multiple advanced degrees, had a promising career trajectory that included an assignment to the Joint Staff. In 2021, his military service was interrupted after his request for a medical exemption from the COVID shot mandate was denied. During his time away from the Army, Bouren made an unlikely career move. He began working in Christian filmmaking as a co-producer and co-founder of Set Shepherds, managing logistics for films he worked on, while also mentoring the cast and crew as a chaplain. It allowed him to apply his leadership experience in a non-military context while integrating his Christian faith. Bouren said, “As the set chaplain, getting to lead morning devotionals and minister to the cast and crew was wonderful.” In early 2025, when the call for COVID reinstatements came, he said, "God called me to military service, and there was nothing that was going to get between me and going back in the Army. I felt like I had a lot left to offer." After his formal return, Bouren was designated the Army's COVID Reinstatement Task Force Lead. He said, “Our warriors of conscience shouldn't have to navigate this alone. We're here to … support them through every step … after they were “unlawfully separated.” Chick-fil-A embraces and celebrates homosexual marriage And finally, Christian leaders say Chick-fil-A has waffled on homosexual faux marriage and diversity, equity and inclusion policies, reports Christian talk show host Todd Starnes. More than a decade ago, Christians across the nation rallied to defend the beloved fast-food restaurant chain after homosexual faux marriage activists declared war. They tried to put Chick-fil-A out of business after Dan Cathy, the son of founder Truett Cathy said in 2012 that marriage is between one man and one woman. Sadly, there's been a cultural shift at Chick-fil-A. An Orem, Utah Chick-fil-A franchise recently posted photos on its Facebook page celebrating the faux homosexual marriage of two men complete with photos of the gushing grooms. Leviticus 18:22 says, “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” Family Research Council called out Chick-fil-A accusing the company of duplicity. In a column in The Washington Stand, they wrote, “More than anything, what should frustrate loyal customers is that — unlike the secular corporations that promoted this agenda for decades without apology — Chick-fil-A built a business model based almost entirely on faith. And frankly, that means they should be held to a higher standard. Yes, there are local operators with diverse objectives and opinions, but for the sake of the company's broader character, those individual franchises should be held to a moral code that reflects Chick-fil-A's stated beliefs. At the very least, the vice president of DEI should be reassigned to support the Cathys' original mission, and the cancer of diversity, equity, and inclusion should be eradicated from headquarters.” The Family Research Council added, “Unlike Target or Anheuser-Busch, this company intentionally made religion a part of the chain's identity. So, it's a point of legitimate hurt and disappointment that [Chick-fil-A] keeps profiting from its Christian reputation, only to turn around and sell out those same values. Americans expect that from Nike. They expect it from Starbucks. They believed Chick-fil-A was different — and they continue to be wrong.” In recent years, Chick-fil-A stopped donating to the Salvation Army and to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes after pressure from the far-left. They also funneled $230,000 to Covenant House, an organization that hosts Drag Queen Story Hours. Conservatives were in disbelief — so much so that The Federalist felt the need to spell it out in a headline that read: “Yes, Chick-fil-A Really Is Funding a Group that Hosts Drag Queen Story Hours.” And Chick-fil-A ruffled lots of feathers when they hired a vice president of DEI. Christian talk show host Todd Starnes  said, “Traditional values have been taken off the menu at Chick-fil-A – just like the chicken salad sandwich and coleslaw.” Send your letter of objection to Susannah Frost, Chick-fil-A President, 5200 Buffington Road, College Park, GA 30349.  You can reach Chick-fil-A online through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com, and by calling Chick-fil-A between 9:00am and 10:00pm ET, Monday through Saturday, at 866-232-2040.. We're mad at the Guinness World Book of Records again because of their evolving business model and the schemes they're using to make bank.
