Are your habits shaping the life you truly want, or are they running the show? Habits influence how you think, feel, and show up every single day. The way you respond to challenges, interact with others, and navigate your own mind is all shaped by the patterns you repeat, often without even realizing it. In this episode, I explore why habits are so vitally important and why, if you want to live intentionally, you must be deliberate with your habits. Think about your life 10 years from now. Will you be living with the same habits you have today, or with habits that serve you, support your goals, and leave you feeling like you're in the driver's seat? You'll learn how to start cultivating habits you love, how to unravel patterns that no longer serve you, and why the choices you make right now can dramatically shape the next decade of your life. Today we are going to deal with that voice in all of our heads- the one that judges, doubts, second-guesses, and compares. It tells us we're not doing enough, we're not good enough, or we're not parenting the right way. That voice, often called the inner critic, is oh so relentless. Even casual external criticism, easily fuels this voice that lives in our heads 24/7.

In this week's episode of the LDS Mission Podcast, Episode 222: Trading Out the Tough Stuff, I'm sharing a concept that has been on my mind as I've worked with missionaries, returned missionaries, and missionary moms. Life on the mission—and after—can feel really tough. Whether it's stress, overwhelm, loneliness, or self-doubt, it's easy for our brains to shut down and say, “this is just too hard.” But what I've learned, and what I want to share with you, is that most of the time we're not escaping the tough stuff—we're simply trading one set of hard emotions for another. In this episode, I'll walk you through how to notice this pattern, how to stop resisting the difficulty, and how to choose which “hard” is worth it. You'll hear real-life examples from missionaries, service missions, jobs, relationships, and even my own family. Together, we'll explore why confidence is less about capability and more about being willing to feel discomfort, and how emotional resilience comes from making peace with the fact that life is always 50/50—half good and half hard. My hope is that Trading Out the Tough Stuff will help you recognize the power you have in deciding where to put your energy. You get to choose the tough emotions that move you closer to the person you want to become. Instead of trying to avoid the hard, you can lean into it with intention, faith, and confidence—and find freedom in the process. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Until next week my friends. When a problem keeps showing up in your life like an unwelcome visitor, how do you respond? Maybe the same struggles keep resurfacing despite your best efforts—leaving work at the office, carving out time for what matters, or breaking free from patterns that no longer serve you. It can feel like these challenges are unsolvable, draining your energy, and stealing your peace of mind. These problems aren't unsolvable; the challenge is often in how we approach them. We resist looking at what's painful and dismiss our deepest desires as unrealistic or selfish. In this episode, I share two techniques that flip this pattern. You'll learn how to create containers for difficult emotions, honor your desires without getting lost in logistics, and design small, doable experiments that move you forward when you feel stuck. Do you ever feel insecure or question your abilities? If so, you're not alone. Even the most accomplished leaders I coach experience self-doubt. So today, I'm unpacking how it could be quietly sabotaging your success.Self-doubt is one of the biggest barriers to career progression. You feel like a fraud despite evidence of your accomplishments, avoid taking risks or stepping outside your comfort zone.Your lack of confidence stops you showing up in a meaningful way and you begin to see your self-doubt as a sign you're truly incapable. All this keeps you stuck, out of action and if left unchecked, can silently stall your career growth for YEARS.This has major consequences for your career. Self-doubt holds you back from speaking up in meetings, so you fail to get noticed. Or it hinders your ability to develop relationships with senior stakeholders to progress your career. It may also stop you asking for the pay rise or promotion you know you deserve, applying for the job you want, or making yourself visible to clients to build your network. After working with hundreds of high-achievers, I've seen self-doubt doesn't always show up as insecurity. Often, it hides in the very behaviours many workplaces reward. In this episode, I'm sharing five subtle signs self-doubt is crushing YOUR career. You'll discover how to build the confidence you need to realise your full potential. You'll learn:Why striving to be ‘perfect' is a major source of self-doubt and how taking imperfect action will help you break freeHow ignoring what you WANT in favour of what you ‘should' do is sabotaging your career success -- and what to do about itWhen hard work is a sign of self-doubt and the ONE mindset shift to help you draw the line with overworkingWhy being naturally talented can become your biggest career block -- and what to do when self-doubt kicks in to avoid quitting too soonHow to stop constantly comparing yourself to others and move forward with confidenceSo hit play NOW -- and let's dive in!Thanks for listening. A Candid Conversation About the Dreams We Put on Hold In this role-reversal episode of the Rich Mind Podcast, Greg takes the host's seat and poses a powerful question to Randy: "If you knew you couldn't fail and wouldn't be judged, what's the one thing you would do today?" This thought experiment leads to a candid exploration of Randy's lifelong passion for classic cars and racing. The conversation is a transparent look at how our deepest passions, often formed in childhood, can get buried under the responsibilities and limiting beliefs of adult life. Listeners will learn the importance of identifying their true desires, the power of taking small, tangible steps towards a dream, and why facing the fear of regret is often a more powerful motivator than the fear of failure. Key Takeaways: The question "What would you do if you couldn't fail?" is a powerful tool to bypass your inner critic and identify your true passions. Your childhood dreams and passions often hold the key to what would bring you the most fulfillment in your adult life. You don't have to quit your life to pursue a passion; you can start by "dipping your toe in the water" through local clubs, volunteer opportunities, or conversations. Your existing relationships and network (a friend from a car club, a daughter's boyfriend who races) are often the doorways to your next opportunity. Limiting beliefs, such as "I need to do things on my own" or "My spouse wouldn't enjoy it," can prevent you from taking the first step. Setting an intention is a powerful first step that signals to your mind to start looking for opportunities and connections related to your goal. The fear of regret ("What if I never even try?") can be a more potent fuel for action than the fear of failure. Questions Answered in This Episode: What is the most powerful question to ask yourself to uncover your hidden passions? How do you turn a lifelong passion, like classic cars, into a tangible pursuit? What are the first small steps you can take to explore a new hobby or career path? How can you leverage your existing network to open doors to new opportunities? What common limiting beliefs stop us from pursuing our dreams? Why is it important to ask yourself if you will regret not doing something? How does setting a clear intention help you recognize opportunities you previously missed? How do you balance your personal passions with family responsibilities and commitments? Key People, Concepts, & Terms: People: Randy Wilson, Greg Junge. Why do so many accomplished women still doubt themselves—even after building extraordinary lives and businesses? Kris continues her Self-Trust & Self-Worth mini-series with a powerful exploration of the programming women inherit from generations before us. She invites us to reflect on the systemic, cultural, and ancestral patterns that quietly shape how women value themselves—and why even the most accomplished female founders still lie awake at night second-guessing their own decisions. From hiding success out of guilt to resisting difficult conversations at work, Kris shows how the paradox of female leadership is never about capability—it's about the stories we've absorbed about what women “should” be. And she challenges us to stop playing small, stop apologizing for what we've built, and start owning the lives we've worked so hard to create. Here's what we explore: Why inherited programming makes self-trust harder for women than men The cultural double standard that shames women for success How female founders get boxed in by guilt, doubt, and “shoulds” The hidden cost of over-functioning and perfectionism Why leadership requires both confidence and compassion This episode is your reminder that you are not broken—and you're not alone. The work ahead isn't about fixing yourself, it's about unlearning what never belonged to you in the first place. Contact Information and Recommended Resources Your journey starts with clarity. Show Notes for Episode 198: Not Good EnoughFlipping the Script: Confidence, Anxiety, and Core BeliefsThis week, I had a heartfelt and powerful conversation with the incredible Sabrina Trobak. We dug into a topic that so many of us grapple with: the impact of our deepest core beliefs on our mental and physical well-being.Have you ever felt like you're not good enough, not important, or not valued? Sabrina explains how past trauma can plant these beliefs, which then become the root of so much anxiety, self-doubt, and even anger. To cope, we often turn to unhealthy strategies like suppressing our emotions or staying perpetually busy. This episode really hit home for me, and one of the biggest questions we tackle is: What are you getting out of living in chaos? Sabrina and I explore how a life full of busyness and distraction can become a convenient way to avoid facing what's really going on inside. We also got really real about how weight can sometimes become a shield. We challenged ourselves to ask: Why are you hiding behind your weight? What is the benefit? It's a powerful question that can lead to some eye-opening insights. My biggest takeaway from this conversation was that anxiety is actually a reflection of what you believe about yourself. If confidence is the sun, then anxiety is the shade.Sabrina beautifully connects our emotions to our biology, explaining how hormones like serotonin and cravings for sugar, fat, and starches all play a role. She gently reminds us that while "simple is not easy," learning to feel your emotions is the first step toward healing.Get ready for an episode full of laughter, deep truths, and a few amazing takeaways you won't want to miss.Find the episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/8S9GQ2UHwbkLet's learn a little about Sabrina.Sabrina Trobak, based in Fort St. John, BC, Canada, is a registered clinical counsellor and the author of "Not Good Enough: Understanding Your Core Belief and Anxiety." How many times have you second-guessed yourself because your way looked completely different from everyone else's? I've lived that story most of my life, believing that if someone else had more experience, more authority, or more money, then they must be right and I must be wrong. But here's the truth: what's right for them isn't always right for you. In this episode, we'll explore: Why following someone else's path—even if it “works” for them, can leave you miserable How to recognize when you're doubting yourself just because your way looks different Real examples of trusting your gut vs. listening to the crowd And why your “weird” or “ass-backward” way might actually be the exact gift you're here to share If you've been stuck between your own inner knowing and outside pressure, this conversation is your reminder to ask the question—“Who's right, me or them?”—and start choosing yourself every time. Unlock Your True Potential by Asking This One Question This episode of the Rich Mind Podcast poses a powerful question to kickstart your biggest goals: "If you knew you couldn't fail and wouldn't be judged, what's the one thing you would do today?" Randy and Greg use this thought experiment to dissect the self-doubt, limiting beliefs, and fear of judgment that paralyze us. The conversation evolves into a real-time coaching session where Greg shares his entrepreneurial dream of starting a coaching business and the internal resistance holding him back. Listeners will get a transparent look at how to identify limiting beliefs, the importance of taking small, initial steps to build momentum, and the power of aligning your actions with your authentic self to find true fulfillment. Key Takeaways: The question "What would you do if you couldn't fail?" is a powerful tool to bypass your inner critic and identify your true desires. Self-doubt and limiting beliefs (e.g., "Why would someone hire me?") are the primary obstacles preventing us from taking action, not a lack of resources or skill. You don't need to know every step of the journey to begin. The first step is to simply start and trust that the right people and resources will appear. To overcome the overwhelm of a big goal, break it down into the smallest possible action you can take today. The feeling of joy and fulfillment is a strong indicator that you are on the right path and aligned with your purpose. Leveraging your innate skills (like networking and listening) can provide a unique angle for a new venture you're passionate about. Sharing your goals with a trusted inner circle can provide clarity, encouragement, and the "kick in the butt" needed to get started. Questions Answered in This Episode: What is the most powerful question you can ask yourself to overcome fear and self-doubt? How do you identify the specific limiting beliefs that are holding you back? What is the first, smallest step you can take to start building a new business or pursuing a dream? How do you know if a new career path is truly aligned with your purpose? Why is it so important to have a support system or coach when chasing a big goal? How can you use free tools like AI to get started and build momentum? How do you overcome the fear of judgment from others when you start something new? What is the "ripple effect" and how can helping one person impact thousands? And I realized - it's because deep down, they don't believe they deserve it." - Dr. Tara SwartDr. Tara Swart has uncovered something most manifestation experts won't tell you - the real reason your vision board sits incomplete in a drawer somewhere. As a neuroscientist who bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern brain science, she's discovered that the biggest obstacle to manifesting isn't your technique or your consistency - it's the quiet voice that whispers you don't deserve what you're asking for. Her own vulnerability in placing her first vision board in her tiny studio apartment bathroom, visible to every visitor, revealed how our fear of judgment often mirrors our deepest self-worth struggles. This conversation will shift how you think about goal-setting forever. Dr. Swart breaks down the brain chemistry behind why gratitude literally rewires your neural pathways from fear-based cortisol to love-based oxytocin, making you naturally more willing to take the healthy risks your dreams require. Lewis shares his own daily gratitude practice and how it's become his gateway to abundance, while Dr. Swart explains why your amygdala keeps replaying every past rejection to keep you "safe" from trying again. You'll discover why action boards work better than vision boards, and how to hack your brain's survival mechanisms to support your biggest aspirations instead of sabotaging them.Sign up for the Greatness newsletter: http://www.greatness.com/newsletter

Today, I interview Renee Zukin who spent years caught in fear and intrusive thoughts that silenced her voice. For much of her life, anxiety and self-doubt made her question whether she could ever step into leadership or express herself authentically. She carried the weight of comparison, believing that courage belonged only to those who could do the big, bold things she thought she couldn't.Her turning point came when she redefined bravery. Instead of measuring herself against others, she began to see that courage could be found in the smallest steps — getting out of bed, showing up for work, or speaking honestly in the moment. That shift allowed her to reclaim her sense of worth and begin showing up in her life with more authenticity and compassion.Over time, Renee committed to the inner work, embraced mentors, and put her story into the world. She discovered that she didn't need to be “fixed” to move forward — every step of bravery became part of her healing and part of her voice.Today, she is an author, coach, and educator. Through her book Every Day I'm Brave, she shares her story along with journal prompts that guide others to reflect, find awareness, and take their own brave steps toward reclaiming their voice.__________________Renee Zukin is an author, educator, coach, and mental health advocate committed to doing the inner work that creates outer change. This pattern can leave you frustrated and stuck, questioning why you can't just do what you say you will, even when it's something you genuinely want. In this episode, I break down what's really going on when plans fail, beyond the usual advice about motivation, willpower, or accountability systems. Resistance isn't a flaw; it's information. Do you ever feel like you're stuck in autopilot mode, running through the motions without really asking if you're living the life you truly want? Most of us have at least one habit that feels out of alignment, whether it's scrolling at night, overindulging, or staying in a draining job. We judge ourselves harshly, wondering why we can't break free. But what if these habits are not the problem? What if, instead, they're signals that point to something deeper? In this episode, I offer a new perspective on habits, especially those we label as "bad." When we approach our habits with curiosity and compassion, we start to recognize that everything we do makes sense when viewed in the context of our life experiences and what we've been taught to value. The experience of self-doubt is so familiar for women, especially because of the patriarchal system we live in. But you deserve to feel confident in your emotions and your assessments. In this episode, I dive into why it feels so automatic to doubt ourselves and how you can begin to change that inner monologue. Here's what I cover:What internal self-doubt actually sounds likeExamples of behaviors that stem from self-doubtHow Dr. Becky Kennedy explains the development of self-doubt in childrenHow patriarchy gives boys and girls very different messages about the validity of their self-doubtThe two voices inside us as women—the voice of care and the voice of self–and how to balance themAn exercise to help you work with both voices so you can feel more confidentFind Sara here:https://sarafisk.coachhttps://pages.sarafisk.coach/difficultconversationshttps://www.instagram.com/sarafiskcoach/https://www.facebook.com/SaraFiskCoaching/https://www.tiktok.com/@sarafiskcoachhttps://www.youtube.com/@sarafiskcoaching1333What happens inside the free Stop People Pleasing Facebook Community?
