In this episode, I sit down with drummer Tom Jorgensen. He's been playing drums on the Beetlejuice national tour for the last three years. Tom talks about what makes the Beetlejuice drum book one of the most physically demanding on the road and how Shannon Ford's original approach set the tone for everything that followed. We dig into:* The sheer physical challenge of playing Beetlejuice eight times a week and how Tom reworked his setup and grip to survive it.* The philosophy he learned from jazz legend Michael Carvin — “It's not about what you're playing, it's about what you're doing” — and how that mindset keeps every performance fresh.* His time touring with Postmodern Jukebox, cutting his teeth on cruise ships, and what those experiences taught him about endurance, posture, and musical adaptability.* Lessons from working with Rich Mercurio and Nadia DiGiallonardo on Waitress, and the moment that turned a sub gig into his first big break.* The balance between consistency and creativity on tour — how to avoid burnout, stay healthy, and keep the show locked in night after night.* Why gratitude and discipline are non-negotiable for musicians who want longevity on the road.Tom's story is a reminder that Broadway drumming isn't just about chops — it's about mindset, focus, and knowing how to serve the show every night. For more: https://www.tomjorgensensound.comListen now wherever you get your podcasts.Subscribe at BroadwayDrumming101.com and pre-order my new book Broadway Bound and Beyond: A Musician's Guide to Building a Theater Career at BroadwayBoundBook.com.Mentioned in this episode:* Beetlejuice National Tour* Shannon Ford* Michael Carvin* Rich Mercurio* Nadia DiGiallonardo* Postmodern Jukebox* Waitress First National TourClayton Craddock is the drummer for the upcoming Broadway revival of Cats: The Jellicle Ball, opening at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 7th. Send us a text We're diving into the euphemisms used in Christian marriage books and by evangelical pastors, and when you translate them into actual language, it gets real creepy real fast. From Kevin Leman's "Mr. Happy" to Josh Butler's semen theology, these authors hide harmful messages behind flowery or vague language. When authors tell women to "give him a gift" while she's bleeding heavily or recovering from childbirth, they're actually telling her to perform sex acts while in pain—and that's just wrong. Most disturbing? The euphemisms that hide sexual assault and make it sound normal.THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORPre-order Dorothy Greco's book For the Love of Women which launches next week! Our CoursesCheck out The Whole Story!, our puberty course for parents/kidsCheck out our Orgasm Course!TO SUPPORT US: Join our Patreon for as little as $5 a month to support our workAnd check out our Merch, or any of our courses!Give to the Good Fruit Faith Initiative of the Bosko FoundationJoin our email list!OUR BOOKS WE MENTIONED:The Marriage You Want (and the new video series that goes with it!)She Deserves BetterLINKS MENTIONED:Fred Stoeker's Focus on the Family interviewJosh Howerton and the Shady Little Girls in MiniskirtsOur article on Josh Butler's book A Beautiful UnionSupport the showJoin Sheila at Bare Marriage.com!Check out her books: The Great Sex Rescue She Deserves Better The Marriage You Want and the Study Guide The Good Girl's Guide to Great Sex and The Good Guy's Guide to Great Sex And she has an Orgasm Course and a Libido course too!Check out all her courses, FREE resources, social media, books, and so much more at Sheila's LinkTree.
Arianne MacBean writes, “Your anger is the spark of your inner fire.” As outlined in her upcoming book, Tough Shit: The Angry Woman's Guide to Embodying Change, that spark is something every woman deserves to honor. This week she joins me for a conversation that's all about reclaiming that fire and learning how to channel it into transformation. Arianne is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Los Angeles with a certificate in somatic psychotherapies and practices. We talk about the power of anger as a tool for self-knowledge, how the patriarchy taught us to suppress it, and why embracing it is one of the most radical acts of self-compassion a woman can take. Arianne also shares how her background as a dancer and choreographer shaped her somatic therapy work and how tuning into the body allows us to uncover what's really beneath our anger: fear, sadness, hurt, and ultimately, truth. This conversation is such a beautiful reminder that anger isn't something to fix, it's something to feel, follow, and transform. ✨ If you'd like to watch the video version of this episode, you can find it here. What you'll hear about in this episode: Why anger is powerful information, not something to suppress (3:32) How somatic therapy connects movement, body awareness, and emotional healing (5:36) Ways to use anger as armor and as a guide toward deeper healing (13:20) The surprising history behind the phrase “tough shit” and Arianne's reclamation of it (19:30) That there are men actually doing the inner work on themselves, facing hard truths, and learning to show up differently in relationships (34:35) Learn more about Arianne MacBean: Arianne MacBean is a Somatic Psychotherapist, writer, and educator. She taught dance at the middle, high school, and college levels for over twenty years and was the Artistic Director of The Big Show Co., an LA-based dance-theater group. She holds a BA in Dance from UCLA, a Double MFA in Dance & Writing from California Institute of the Arts, and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6vU3-LGrgM From Jul 11, 2016. Stars can spin faster or slower than the Sun. What's the fastest that's ever been discovered, and what's the fastest speed you can have before they tear themselves apart? Everything in the Universe is spinning. Spinning planets and their spinning moons orbit around spinning stars, which orbit spinning galaxies. It's spinning all the way down. Consider that fiery ball in the sky, the Sun. Like all stars, our Sun rotates on its axis. You can't tell because staring at the Sun long enough will permanently damage your eyeballs. Instead you can use a special purpose solar telescope to observe sunspots and other features on the surface of the Sun. For Manifestors, visibility is powerful, but it's also dangerous. We're designed to initiate, to spark movements, to light things up. But when that spark catches, it can quickly become something else: pressure. People start wanting your energy instead of your work. They want your time, your creativity, your guidance. And suddenly, your energy is the product. In this episode, Holly shares how she had to set strong energetic boundaries when her business was still small, because even at 2,500 followers, the pull for her energy was already huge. She shows you how this is happening with her friend, a Projector with 270k followers, who's only now experiencing that level of energetic demand. Together, these stories reveal something crucial about the Manifestor experience: popularity isn't measured by numbers, but by how our energy moves people. You'll learn how to protect your creative rhythm, reclaim your sovereignty, and stop over-giving your power. Because your energy was never meant to be consumed or demanded on, it was meant to initiate. Have you spent years doing everything “right”? Building your career, caring for others, keeping things together and still feel like something is off? Maybe it's a quiet ache you can't shake. That pull between might not be burnout at all. It might be a kind of betrayal you didn't know you were carrying. In this episode, I sit down with Lora Cheadle, author, speaker, and betrayal recovery coach. Lora's story began with infidelity but led her deeper into the world of nervous system regulation, and the rebuilding of her self-worth. Lora brings a lived understanding of how our bodies often speak the truth before we can put them into words. In this episode, you'll learn:How societal expectations and perfectionism can cause emotional exhaustion and disconnection, especially in high-achieving women. What happens to your nervous system when you live in survival mode for too long and how self-betrayal becomes a coping mechanism. How to tell when your burnout symptoms are signs of deeper misalignmentWhat your body is communicating through tension, fatigue, and restlessness. How expectation management can shift long-standing relationship dynamicsSimple somatic tools to support nervous system balance and recovery.Ways to rebuild trust with yourself through internal validation instead of outside approvalThis conversation is a gentle invitation to pause, breathe, and remember that you're not broken. You're human and you're learning, healing, and coming home to yourself, one sensation at a time. Here's to honoring what your body already knows,LaurieClick here for a video on how to leave a review to receive a free somatic stabilization/grounding exercise. The NFL regular season is finally here, and there are plenty of must-watch games in Week 8. However, there are plenty of duds on the schedule as well. How do you decipher those can't miss games from those which you only keep tabs on your fantasy football team for? That's where the For Your Viewing Pleasure podcast comes in where hosts Jeff Hartman and Wesley Coleman talk about the slate of games in Week 8, and what you should, and shouldn't, be watching. Whether you're curious about e-bikes, new to biking, or finding more eco-friendly ways to travel, micro-mobility is becoming an increasingly popular (and practical) way to get around. But with more people riding on the road, safety, confidence, and smart planning matter more than ever. In this episode of Merging Into Life, host Zack Klapman talks with Tangier Barnes Wright, Deputy Director of Shared Micromobility at PeopleForBikes, about how cities can better support cyclists and how riders can better support themselves. They cover everything from choosing your first route to making yourself visible at night and practicing good etiquette on shared trailsLearn more: https://www.peopleforbikes.org/

Today we discuss Harvard, higher ed, public health, AI, and political cheating. Harvard has announced the suspension of several graduate programs, as well as hiring and other budget freezes, claiming poverty due to the suspension of federal grants. But Harvard's revenue last year was $6.7 billion, and their losses amount to 1.7% of that. Meanwhile, Trump wants Harvard to run trade schools. Then: vaccinologist Paul Offit admits that natural immunity was always superior to vaccine-induced immunity—if you survived the infection—but that this was not a matter of public health policy because Americans couldn't handle the nuance. And: Google's AI fabricated a criminal history, and is now being sued. Finally: how you voted is visible on your mail-in ballot in some counties in California.*****Our sponsors:Caraway: Non-toxic, beautiful, light ceramic cookware. What if everything you thought GLP-1s were for—was just the beginning? I sit down with Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen, a board-certified endocrinologist and obesity medicine specialist with over 15 years of experience prescribing GLP-1s, to explore what these medications are really doing in the body. Whether you're already taking Ozempic or Wegovy, considering starting, or just curious, this conversation will change how you think about metabolism, hormones, and health. Dr. Salas-Whalen explains how GLP-1s go far beyond appetite suppression and weight loss—they can impact fertility, inflammation, autoimmune conditions, and even how your brain responds to addictive cravings and stress. You'll also hear how body composition, not BMI, is the future of metabolic health, and what to ask your doctor before starting GLP-1s.

In this episode of The Untrapped Podcast, Keith gets real about money, mindset, and risk. After dropping $9,300 on a brand-new enclosed trailer, Keith dives deep into how he approaches investing in his landscaping business — and why he refuses to buy anything until it's absolutely necessary. From avoiding unnecessary debt to setting financial safety nets, Keith shares the exact philosophy that's helped him stay profitable and sane while running multiple businesses. This isn't about flashy spending — it's about working smarter, protecting your peace, and building real security. "If other people can do this, so can you. You're being forced to expand in your maturity and your growth." – Keith Kalfas Topics Covered: Why Keith only buys tools “the morning of the job” The difference between wanting and needing new equipment How to calculate a 50% profit margin on every job Setting your “safe number” — the bank balance that calms your stress How to balance growth without sacrificing your health or family The mindset shift from risk-taking to smart scaling Key Takeaways Only Buy What You Need — When You Need ItKeith's golden rule: never buy a new tool until the morning of the job that requires it. This keeps your risk low and your cash flow strong — no fancy toys gathering dust, just smart, purpose-driven purchases. Know Your “Safe Number.” Set a financial cushion that lets your nervous system chill. Whether it's $5K or $50K, define the amount in your bank account that makes you feel secure — and never dip below it. That's how you build peace and profit at the same time. Testosterone Replacement Therapy can feel confusing—especially with conflicting advice online. In this beginner-friendly episode, Dave Lee explains what TRT is, when it's truly needed, and why it's a lifelong medical therapy. He covers the core decision point (optimize lifestyle first vs. start TRT), what “good” protocols look like (stable levels via frequent low-dose injections or 20% trans-scrotal cream), and the red flags to avoid (infrequent injections, cookie-cutter add-ons like routine HCG and aromatase inhibitors, pellets/patches/gels with poor efficacy). Dave lays out the habits that make TRT work—sleep, protein-forward nutrition, steps, cardio, and resistance training—and clears up the biggest myth around fertility, including how it can usually be restored while staying on treatment. If you're considering TRT or just had low T labs, this is your practical roadmap—and why working with a true expert matters. Today, we're diving into the fascinating world of the mind — and how understanding how we think can empower us to see ourselves and others more clearly. My guest is Dr. Daniel Yon, an experimental psychologist and neuroscientist at the University of Birkbeck, London. His groundbreaking new book, A Trick of the Mind, explores how our brains act like scientists — using past experiences to build theories about the world, shaping what we see, how we judge others, and even what we believe about ourselves. Whether you're exploring how to build confidence, strengthen intuition, or simply better understand how your brain works, this episode offers practical insights to help you see your mind in a new light KEY TOPICS Unpacking the Mind with Dr. Daniel Yon and the Uncertainty Lab (0:00) How Your Brain's Theories Invent and Shape Your Perception of Reality (6:38) From Misheard Lyrics to Inherited Trauma: How Experience Shapes Perception (15:38) The Neuroscience Behind Gut Feelings and the Matthew Effect (26:22) How Social Interactions Shape Confidence and Our View of Others (39:57) Final Insights: The Power of Broadening Your Perspectives (54:32) RESOURCES MENTIONED JOIN MICHELE'S NEWSLETTER FOLLOW on YOUTUBE Michele's Book: Design A Life You Love: A Woman's Guide to Living a Happier and More Fulfilled Life GUEST INFORMATION Website: The Uncertainty Lab Book: A Trick of the Mind: How the Brain Invents Your Reality If you enjoyed this interview, please take a moment to rate and review it on Apple Podcasts or other podcast player. *The Good Life with Michele Lamoureux podcast and content provided by Michele Lamoureux is for educational and entertainment purposes only. What if authentic friendships could make motherhood lighter, richer, and more joyful? This episode is inspired by a conversation I had recently with my daughter Ashton—soon to be a mom herself—about the incredible role of prayer and friendships in navigating motherhood’s highs and lows. Together, we explore how real connection helps us grow into the women and mothers God designed us to be. We unpack how to set healthy boundaries, handle comparison, and handle differences in parenting styles with grace. This conversation is all about celebrating sisterhood over competition and finding strength through community, faith, and heartfelt connection. You'll hear from a father who raised a first-round draft pick after his son's battle with cancer, a Division I head coach redefining toughness and leadership, an MLB All-Star revealing the truth behind the pro grind, and a mindset expert helping parents protect their child's confidence and love for the game. Each voice offers a different angle, but together they deliver one powerful message: in travel baseball, the real win isn't exposure- it's who your child becomes along the way. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Why skills and stats mean nothing without self-awareness and belief. How parents can listen, support, and guide without adding pressure. What MLB players and coaches say separates the few who make it from everyone else. Why culture, values, and brotherhood define true programs -not exposure or trophies. How to help your child love the game for life, even when the system tries to take that away. Whether you're a coach, player, or parent, these conversations will change how you see travel baseball- and what it really means to “make it.”

Over the past year, Chris Irwin — retired Navy SEAL and creator of RareSense — has walked us through his complete framework for training your mind like you train your body. In this supercut, we're bringing all four conversations together to cover the five MindKillers (oblivion, storytelling, suppression, fear, and stagnation) and their countermeasures — the specific tools you can use to stop sabotaging your mental fitness.
Bone health is something most of us don't think about until much later in life, but the reality is that the foundation for strong, healthy bones is built decades earlier – and what we do in our 20s, 30s and 40s can make all the difference to our health and strength in later years. Today, I'm delighted to welcome Dr Vonda Wright. Vonda is an orthopaedic surgeon and internationally recognised authority on active ageing and mobility. She believes that with mobility, smart nutrition and building relationships, we can harness our own power to control 70% of our health and ageing. Vonda specialises in sports medicine and is one of only a few female orthopaedic surgeons in the United States. She currently serves as the inaugural Chief of Sports Medicine for the Northside Hospital Orthopaedic Institute and is the founding director of the Performance and Research Initiative for Masters Athletes (PRIMA). She is also the author of several books, including her latest, Unbreakable: A Woman's Guide to Ageing With Power, combines cutting-edge science with practical tools to help us protect our bones and our future health. In this fantastic conversation, we discuss: Why osteoporosis isn't just a disease of old age, but one that begins much earlier in life, often decades before the first fracture. The idea of the “critical decade” – why our mid-30s to mid-40s are such a pivotal window for building bone strength, especially for women approaching menopause. The key lifestyle factors that influence bone density, from nutrition and protein intake to resistance training and impact exercise, and why it's never too late to start. How scans such as DEXA and REMS can give a clearer picture of bone quality and help us take action before problems arise. The cultural and societal pressures that shape women's health behaviours, and how these can sometimes work against long-term bone resilience. Simple, practical strategies for protecting your bones at every stage of life, supporting independence, mobility and confidence as we age. Vonda also shares her vision of ageing with strength, independence and vitality, and why she believes we can all take proactive steps to remain “unbreakable”. As Vonda explains, we have more control over our bone health than we might realise - and that knowledge should feel both comforting and empowering. Caring for our bones is really about caring for our future selves. By taking simple, consistent steps today, we can build the strength and confidence to live the way we want for years to come.
