Laurent de Cherisey was fresh out of business school and looking forward to earning a lot of money when his sister had a car accident that left her severely disabled. This led him to rethink everything. Including finding faith. He founded what has become a string of houses where accident victims and non-accident victims live side by side. They're called the Simon of Cyrene houses, named after the man Jesus chose to help him carry his cross. The project was financed in part by the box office receipts for the hit comedy Untouchable at the request of the aristocratic tetraplegic accident victim whose story inspired the film. We talk to Laurent about his journey and to some Simon of Cyrene house-dwellers about what's good about these places - why it works bringing together people of very different social classes, ethnic and religious backgrounds and, above all, very different physical and mental capacities. Today in The Catechism Series, we continue through the opening article of the Creed: “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.” Fr. David Sherry explains what Catholics mean when they profess belief in God, not merely as a conclusion of reason, but as our first beginning and last end. We'll also look at how God's existence can be known, why we call Him Father, what it means that He is almighty, and how creation itself points us back to Him. The main goal of the Society of Saint Pius X is to preserve the Catholic Faith in its fullness and purity, to teach its truths, and to diffuse its virtues, especially through the Roman Catholic priesthood. Questions about what it means to be holy, how to fight your sins without slipping into a works-based mindset, and whether, as a Christian, it's better to be humble, meek, and self-deprecating because none of us does good or bold and confident because we've been saved by the Creator.   What does it mean to be holy, and why is this important? How do I rest in Jesus' completed work and still fight my sins without slipping into a works-based mindset? As a Christian, is it better to be humble, meek, and self-deprecating since none of us does good, or can we be bold and confident since we are saved by and loved by the Creator of the universe?

Before Sex and the City became a cultural phenomenon, Candace Bushnell was writing about something she saw happening all around her: ambitious, successful single women taking over New York City. In this episode of Superwomen, Candace joins Rebecca to revisit the column that started it all, the real-life stories behind Sex and the City, and what it was like watching her work become part of the culture. But a lot has changed since the '90s… and a lot hasn't. Candace shares what she thinks about dating today, why successful women are still struggling to find great partners, and why women no longer have an “expiration date.” She also opens up about the pursuit of creative success, the rejection that comes with it, and why not everything you create is going to work. Read OnlineMarriage and Divine UnionSome Pharisees approached Jesus, and tested him, saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?” He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.” Matthew 19:3–6In Jesus' time, divorce was a controversial and divisive issue. Two prominent schools of thought offered opposing views: The followers of Rabbi Hillel permitted divorce for trivial reasons, while the followers of Rabbi Shammai allowed it only for serious offenses. In today's Gospel, Jesus does not side with either group. Instead, He elevates the conversation by pointing back to God's original design for marriage, revealed at the beginning of creation.Jesus reminds us that God's intention for marriage is the permanent and sacred union of man and woman—a covenant, not merely a contract. When the two become “one flesh,” it is not only a physical union but also a spiritual and ontological reality: A new creation comes into being through the marital bond.Today, many people misunderstand the sacredness of marriage. Many marriages falter for a variety of reasons. This is partly because the ideal of marriage is demanding and requires deep personal sacrifice. True love—caritas, or charity—goes far beyond emotion and affection. It calls for the complete gift of self, radical selflessness, and unwavering commitment. When lived according to God's design, such love yields rewards that far surpass the trials it entails. But when relationships are clouded by selfishness, resentment, unforgiveness, or sin, they often unravel, leaving behind pain and regret.Saint Paul refers to marriage as “a great mystery,” likening it to the union between “Christ and the Church” (Ephesians 5:32). This is more than a metaphor; it is a theological truth. Every baptized person is called to be part of the Body of Christ and to share in the eternal Wedding Feast of the Lamb. The saints and mystics refer to this as “spiritual marriage”—the soul's union with Christ in Divine Love. The path to such divine union is rigorous. It demands the total gift of oneself to God. Every sin and attachment to sin must be stripped away by grace—and by our cooperation with that grace. This purifying journey prepares the soul for Mystical Marriage, a lasting and unbreakable union with God.Just as the heights of sanctity are reached only through great effort, so too is the perfection of marriage—or any relationship. This can feel daunting, but it should not lead to discouragement. Rather, it should inspire us with hope and resolve. Whether in marriage, friendship, or our relationship with God, we must pursue the ideal with zeal. Sanctity does not happen overnight, and neither do holy relationships. All require perseverance, humility, and grace.Jesus' teaching on marriage challenges us, but it is full of promise. It offers hope because it affirms that the grace needed to live this vocation comes as a gift from God in the Sacrament of Matrimony. For those called to marriage, and who receive and cooperate with this grace, the reward is nothing less than divine communion and eternal joy. To reach this end, we must transcend our natural limitations and rise above self-interest, fear, and the desire for comfort. This vocation requires a lifelong commitment to sacrificial love, fidelity, and perseverance, even amid trials and suffering.Reflect today on your vocation and how well you live the depth of love to which you are called. Whether you are married or celibate, trust in God's providence and resolve to live not by the standards of the world, but by the wisdom of the Kingdom of Heaven. Such a calling can only be fulfilled by grace and by hearts courageous enough to say “Yes” to that grace, day after day. Resolve to say “Yes,” and your reward will be great. My loving Lord, the charity that flows from Your Sacred Heart is pure and holy, radiating throughout Your entire Church. Draw me ever deeper into that love, so that I may receive You into my life and radiate Your love to others. Help me and all Your children to love You with all our hearts and to love one another, so that we may be perfectly united in You. In the end there can be no half measures in truly believing, and, as a result, having a daily relationship with our Saviour.  The completion of this relationship leads us to more and more fully sense the wonder of the Creator of all things – and the unlimited nature of those “all things.”In 1st Kings today we read one of the longest chapters in the Bible: it describes the awesome glory of the Temple in which just about everything was overlaid with gold.  Solomon had just completed it and we read his words of benediction.  First he offers an emotional prayer to God, “that all the peoples of the earth may know your name” [ch. 8 v.43] When he finishes his prayer “he stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, ‘Blessed be the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel …” [v.56] and we ponder how even greater, far greater, must be the blessing and the joy, and the greater “rest” when, as we will read on Friday, Jesus the greatest king of all opens “the house of prayer for all nations” [Mark 11 v.17]Solomon brings his benediction to a climax with a petition to the Lord “that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no other” and then utters the even more significant words, “Let your heart therefore be wholly true to the LORD our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.”   [v.61]            Human nature is such that the challenge to be “wholly true to the LORD” is only accomplished when we have a real living relationship with Him and his Son, and how thought provoking is our chapter in Mark in showing us how the disciples failed to be fully committed, despite constantly witnessing remarkable miracles and hearing his teaching..  Jesus said to them, “Having eyes, do you not see, and having ears do you not hear?  And do you not remember? ….Do you not yet understand?” [8 v.18,21] And for ourselves, having eyes, do we not read, and having brains, do we not yet understand?  Let us apply our God-given intellect ever more diligently to what we read and then make sure we meditate upon it.  A true blessing for us – every day – only by this means will we be “wholly true to the Lord”

If you follow aviation on social media, chances are you've seen Sarah Daniels — better known by her channels and social media as Sarahnautics. But Sarah's journey into aviation is anything but ordinary. Before becoming a pilot and one of aviation's most recognizable content creators, Sarah was an actress, performer, and even a Disney Princess. And perhaps most surprisingly, she was once afraid of flying. That fear ultimately led her into the cockpit and set her on an incredible journey through aviation. Today, Sarah is on an ambitious mission to visit every airport in the United States, documenting the people, places, and experiences she encounters along the way.In this episode, we go beyond the social media posts to explore Sarah's story — from her life before aviation and overcoming her fear of flying, to her journey across America's airports and the evolution of Sarahnautics. We also talk about one of the most difficult moments she's shared publicly: capturing an in-flight emergency and making the decision to be vulnerable enough to let her audience see what really happened. Most importantly, Sarah talks about why she creates, the responsibility that comes with having a platform, and her hope that her story can inspire more women and young girls to see themselves as part of aviation. This is a story about fear, courage, exploration, and discovering that sometimes the thing you're most afraid of can lead you somewhere extraordinary.✈️ FOLLOW SARAHNAUTICSInstagram: @sarahnauticsTikTok: @sarahnauticsYouTube: SarahnauticsFacebook: SarahnauticsThreads: @sarahnauticsTwitch: SarahnauticsLearn more about Sarah and follow her journey to every airport in America at Sarahnautics.com.✈️ FOLLOW AEROEXPLORATIONCheck out the YouTube Channel. https://www.youtube.com/@AeroExplorationSponsor Information:Support our sponsors and affiliates who help make this podcast possible!Affiliate Links:Lightspeed Headsets: https://www.lightspeedaviation.com/?campaign=flyingmidwest23&ref=101Flying Eyes Sunglasses: https://flyingeyesoptics.com/?ref=Flyingmidwest23Use code Flyingmidwest10 for 10% off your purchaseAeroExploration Merch:flyingmidwest.com/merchContact Information:Do you have questions or comments about the show? In this Daily Devotion for August 13, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 77:16-18, where the exodus is described in dramatic terms, the sea trembling in fear, thunder crashing, lightning lighting up the world, all of creation reacting to its Maker as He rescued His people. This devotion carries that image forward to the cross. If creation itself trembles before God, imagine what it meant when the Creator entered His own creation as a man. When Jesus died, darkness covered the land, the ground shook, and the rocks split. Creation recognized its Maker hanging there, quietly accomplishing your redemption. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, won once and for all through His finished work. Through that redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper the same God who moved all creation comes to us still, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. When your own life feels shaken, remember whose hands hold the water, the sky, and the earth itself. The same God who rescued His people from Egypt moved all of creation again to rescue you from sin.Subscribe for weekly sermons and Daily Devotions. If this devotion has blessed you, consider supporting this ministry: https://buymeacoffee.com/whitegandalphYou can also give directly at https://buymeacoffee.com/whitegandalphHashtags (5)#DailyDevotion #Lutheran #LCMS #BibleStudy #Christianity

August 13 2026 Thursday Who Jesus Made You To Be / Week 39 Victory Through Faith #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word.  That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. My Prayers For The World Ephesians 1:15-23 NLT  'Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God's people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.'  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT 'When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Youar roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.grounded.dayLast week we covered the introduction, ayat 1–8. We saw how Allah opens the surah with Alhamdulillah — a practice of gratitude — and directs that gratitude towards the Qur'an itself. Allah corrects those who claim He has a son. Then He moves to the purpose of creation: this world was made beautiful as a test of who among us has the best deeds. Then it is destroyed. Then comes the resurrection. That last point is where this week begins.Grounded is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. The problem the Quraysh hadThe Quraysh did not struggle with the idea of a Creator. Something cannot come from nothing, and everything around us points to an uncreated Creator. When they were asked who created the heavens and the earth, they would say: Allah.Their problem was Yawm al-Qiyamah.Because belief in the Day of Judgement changes how you behave. It changes your priorities. If you believe in God but not in the reckoning, you can do whatever you want — you die, and that is the end of it. The rich and the powerful can steal from the poor, oppress the weak, bomb nations and schools, and walk away from it. If there is no ākhirah, what is there to worry about?Belief in the ākhirah takes that away. It forces a change.Ayah 9 — Do you find this the amazing part?أم حسبت أن أصحاب الكهف والرقيم كانوا من آياتنا عجباDo you think that the people of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder?Al-raqīm means inscription. The story of these young men was carved into stone — as the ancients would inscribe things — and so it survived. It was known among certain Christian communities, which is exactly why the Quraysh used it to test the Prophet ﷺ. Nobody in Makkah knew this story. They had to travel outside the city to find people of the book who could tell it to them.So Allah puts the question back to them. You accept that a group of young men slept in a cave for centuries and woke up alive — and that you find miraculous. But death and resurrection you cannot accept? This ayah is not saying the story of the people of the cave is no sign. It is a sign, and a great one. But it is not the greatest. Why is this the thing that excites you, while you ignore what actually matters — that you will die, be resurrected, and be held to account?Ayah 10 — The duʿāʾ on the way to the caveإذ أوى الفتية إلى الكهف فقالوا ربنا آتنا من لدنك رحمة وهيئ لنا من أمرنا رشداWhen the youths retreated to the cave and said: our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself, and prepare for us right guidance in our affair.Awā means to seek protection — to move behind something and shelter there.Notice what the Qur'an leaves out. We are not told the city, the town, the house, or the cave. This is how the Qur'an teaches history: it omits what is not relevant to the lesson, because detail distracts. If Allah had named the city, people would argue about the city. What matters is that there was a group of young men.And Allah highlights that word — fityah. Young men.We tend to treat the youth as the weakest link in the chain of the ummah. Children come to the masjid because their parents bring them. The elderly come because perhaps there is nothing else. And the youth are absent. Allah is addressing exactly that.Look at the early followers of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was forty; Abu Bakr al-Siddiq رضي الله عنه was around the same age. Those are middle-aged men. But Sayyidina Ali was in his early teens. Zayd ibn Harithah, another young man. Uthman, Zubayr, Talha — teens and early twenties. They were the ones actively carrying the daʿwah.

Kim and Margo explore what working behind the scenes in music and culture taught him about what artists actually need, why he continues to approach his work as a fan first, and the role community plays in building a sustainable creative life. Margo and Kim discuss: How growing up in DIY punk, hip-hop, electronic music, and art scenes shaped Kim's approach to creativity and community What working with major artists and cultural platforms taught him about the realities of building a creative career Why Kim leads with a "fan first" mentality and how genuine curiosity has guided his career Why community is the invisible infrastructure behind so many successful creative careers Moving beyond the myth of the self-made artist and recognizing the people, resources, and relationships that help us grow Defining success on your own terms rather than following someone else's blueprint for a creative business The value of practical support—from sharing opportunities and resources to having someone a few steps ahead show you what's possible Connect with Kim: Website: www.3pts.co Instagram: www.instagram.com/3ptsco Substack: 3pts.substack.com A monthly newsletter dedicated to sharing opportunities for makers such as grants, residencies, open calls, markets and more. https://us7.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=eb522373216e8266b4805a156&id=45f83f7c19 Connect with Margo: www.windowsillchats.com www.instagram.com/windowsillchats www.patreon.com/inthewindowsill

If there is still light outside your window, that light is coming from a being. This episode asks a question we usually skip: not what it is like for us to evolve in third density, but what it is like to evolve as a Solar Logos. The lifetime under discussion is the sun's lifetime — and we are inside it. Part two of a conversation begun two weeks earlier, opening with a short recap and then moving into new territory: vertical concrescence, the Logos as a person with biases, and the difference between an inter-personal and an intra-personal relationship with God. The back half is open discussion, including sustained disagreement from two members that goes unresolved on purpose. Topics Opening attunement — three breaths, and the recognition that the light we receive is also light we give back. The many become one and are increased by one — Whitehead's definition of concrescence. Two hydrogens and an oxygen. Two prokaryotes becoming one eukaryotic cell. Why the pattern cannot be confined to the horizontal. Larger does not mean more advanced — the assumption that the sun must be a completed being, further along than we are, and why that may be a paradigm we import rather than something the Ra material teaches. Transcendent in the sense that Troy is transcendent in relation to his own cells. Two logjams and a horseshoe — the pre-veil stalemate (Ra's divinely happy entities; why study when you can enjoy recess), the innovation of the veil, and whether the far side of that arc brings us back around to a logjam of a different kind. What the sun cannot do — 54.17 on catalyst through the first triad only, and the question it raises: is the Solar Logos free not to love? A Person with biases — session 90 on the bias toward kindness. Kindness from kin. Family ties and bonds. The bipedal form and the opposable thumb as deliberate intensifications of the veil. Beauty, per Whitehead — the most diversity that can be packed into a moment of unity without the unity breaking. Intra-personal, not inter-personal — Terra as one person (Ra's planetary entity, Teilhard's noosphere, the Jewish Adam Kadmon), the Solar Logos as another, and why the relationship between them is a being coming face to face with itself rather than two entities meeting. Venus, Maldek, Mars — harmony at one pole, self-destruction at the other, and the guardianship in the middle where the oneing begins. Then Earth, and a Solar Logos eventually experiencing what is otherwise impossible for it: death. The discussion Two members pushed back, and the disagreement is the second half of the episode. On free will at the Logoic level — whether the sub-Logoi possess complete freedom of choice in structuring their creations, and whether 54.17 is better read as describing early third density, before an entity becomes conscious of the incarnational process and begins choosing its own catalyst. On whether a Logos can be personal at all — the case that a sub-Logos is a class of being beyond personal form, which creates and then experiences through its creation rather than entering it. On this reading, Jesus emptied himself and the Logos experienced third-density Earth in the first person through him, without acting through him. The acorn response — containing all the octaves is not the same as having them activated. Every being is under process, because process is the nature of the development of love. On the archetypes — why some Logoi apparently lack Experience or Transformation altogether, and whether Solar Logoi choose their archetypal system or inherit the most articulated version discovered so far and refine it. Ra's own phrasing at 81.33: the sub-Logoi have been refining the discoveries of earlier sub-Logoi. The AI parallel — builders who construct an architecture, watch it think on its own, and then study what it did in order to find structure they neither knew about nor put there. Teilhard at the Omega Point, and AI as the human collective brain becoming a physical thing. The surprise of creation: put the third element in, and something arrives that no one predicted. Deism, or the dance — the Creator who sets the stage and observes, versus the Creator radically participating in its own creativity. Both readings are on the table. Neither gets forced. Midrash — why multiple interpretations are the point, and not a problem to be solved. Ra citations referenced 54.17 · 81.33 · session 90 (bias toward kindness; bipedal form and opposable thumb) · 78.22 A tilde (~) before "Ra says" marks a paraphrase rather than a direct quotation. Also mentioned Alfred North Whitehead, Process and Reality — concrescence, and beauty as maximal diversity within unity Pierre Teilhard de Chardin — the noosphere and the Omega Point Richard Rohr Adam Kadmon in the Jewish mystical tradition Midrash as interpretive practice About Building 4th is a contemplative community that meets Tuesday nights. Ra Contact Night is a recurring format. Selah9 But you have rejected us and disgraced us    and have not gone out with our armies.10 You have made us turn back from the foe,    and those who hate us have gotten spoil.11 You have made us like sheep for slaughter    and have scattered us among the nations.12 You have sold your people for a trifle,    demanding no high price for them.13 You have made us the taunt of our neighbors,    the derision and scorn of those around us.14 You have made us a byword among the nations,    a laughingstock[b] among the peoples.15 All day long my disgrace is before me,    and shame has covered my face16 at the sound of the taunter and reviler,    at the sight of the enemy and the avenger.17 All this has come upon us,    though we have not forgotten you,    and we have not been false to your covenant.18 Our heart has not turned back,    nor have our steps departed from your way;19 yet you have broken us in the place of jackals    and covered us with the shadow of death.20 If we had forgotten the name of our God    or spread out our hands to a foreign god,21 would not God discover this?    For he knows the secrets of the heart.22 Yet for your sake we are killed all the day long;    we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.23 Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord?    Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever!24 Why do you hide your face?    Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust;    our belly clings to the ground.26 Rise up; come to our help!    Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!+++For more information about this group, please visit their website at reformationboise.com. One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on the Daily Radio Bible, a daily Bible‑in‑a‑year podcast with 20‑minute Scripture readings, Christ‑centered devotion, and guided prayer. This daily Bible reading and devotional invites you to live as a citizen of Jesus' kingdom, reconciled, renewed, and deeply loved. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! On this 11th day of August, we journey through the pages of Jeremiah 7-9 and John 13, guided by Hunter, your Bible reading coach. Together, we'll listen to God's words of warning and hope to His people through Jeremiah, reflecting on the call to obedience, repentance, and authentic worship. Then, we'll witness Jesus' act of humble service as He washes His disciples' feet, teaching us the importance of humility, love, and allowing ourselves to be cared for by Christ. As we seek renewal and realignment in our walk with God, today's reading and reflections will encourage us to receive His grace, lean into communion with Him, and extend love to others in the same spirit that Christ serves us. Settle in, open your heart, and let's draw near to the Living Word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: You have to get washed, and he has to wash you. You have to humbly accept Jesus's care over your life as he washes your feet. If you don't, Jesus says, you're going to miss him. You're not going to get him; you won't understand what he's all about. There's a difference between union and communion. Peter and the twelve were united with Christ; they were one with him. But just like you and I, their feet got dirty because they walk in a world that is fallen and broken and dirty. Journeying through this life takes a toll on us, and our souls need to be drawn in over and over again to our life with him. We need to be realigned, renewed, refreshed. We need to be washed. We need to come into communion with him again. So Jesus insists on cleaning our feet. When he cleans our feet, he's reminding us of who we are in him. You are his daughter. You are his son. You are one with him. Jesus insists on caring for us throughout our lives, washing our feet, reminding us of the intimate care and grace that's offered to us each and every day. It's a humbling thing for someone to wash our feet, but our souls are in need of the humbling reality of Christ serving us. Our pride, like Peter's, wants to rise up and demand otherwise. "You'll never wash my feet," says Peter. The flesh, our pride, always refuses, but the presence of Christ humbles us and teaches us. In this moment, he teaches us who we are and what we are to become. We are chosen. We are in him. We have union with God, and we are to participate with him as servants of God. There is union and there is communion. Our union has been forged through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ—Christ alone. Our communion is where we participate with him in who we now have become and join in on what he is now doing today. He continues to wash us even through this word, through what we're doing here right now. You may not have noticed this, but while we were hearing the word today, something else was happening, if you will. Christ was serving you, washing your feet. Ephesians 5 says we are washed by the cleansing of the Word. He's washing our feet as we listen to and respond to his word each day. Jesus says to you what he said to Peter: Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. The water of God's word washing our feet is going to be a part of our life together from here on out. Don't let your pride and flesh stand in the way of Christ serving you. And maybe next time when you come to the word, envision Jesus, the Creator of all things, washing your feet. Let it be a reminder to you that you are one with him and that we need him to renew, to restore, to clean us, and that we are loved. And let that love move beyond you into the world to others, so that you can love the way he loved and served you. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

True Biblical Worship vs. Strange Fire: What Does God Really Want? | KIB 543 DESCRIPTION Welcome to Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Episode #543 with Dr. Michael Lake and Mary Lou Lake. What does God actually desire from those who worship Him? Modern Christianity often defines worship primarily through music, singing, emotional experiences, and church services. But Scripture presents something far deeper. True biblical worship is not merely an event we attend—it is a covenant lifestyle of reverence, obedience, holiness, truth, thanksgiving, humility, service, repentance, and wholehearted devotion to God. In this episode, Dr. Michael Lake examines the biblical theology of worship from both the Old and New Testaments. Psalm 24 reveals the necessity of clean hands and a pure heart, while Jesus declares that the Father is seeking those who will worship Him "in spirit and truth." This teaching also confronts a serious problem within modern Christianity: worship can become religious performance while the believer's daily life remains disconnected from God. Scripture reveals that obedience itself is worship. Holiness is worship. Serving others can become worship. Thanksgiving is worship. Repentance restores true fellowship with God. Even studying Scripture to discover what pleases God becomes an expression of devotion to Him. Dr. Lake also examines Cain, Nadab and Abihu, Saul, Uzziah, and Israel's golden calf to demonstrate a sobering biblical principle: sincerity does not give humanity the authority to redefine worship. God determines how He is to be worshiped. The episode concludes with a warning that much of contemporary worship risks producing "strange fire" rather than Christlikeness—and a call for the Remnant to return to worship that transforms the worshiper and exalts God alone. IN THIS EPISODE: • Why worship is a lifestyle rather than an event • What it means to worship God in spirit and truth • The Hebrew and Greek concepts behind biblical worship • Why obedience is an act of worship • Why God requires holiness from His worshipers • The relationship between thanksgiving, praise, and worship • Why biblical study itself can become an act of devotion • How religious performance can replace genuine worship • Why worship must remain God-centered rather than man-centered • Cain, Nadab and Abihu, Saul, Uzziah, and unauthorized worship • The danger of "strange fire" in the modern Church • How true worship produces transformation and Christlikeness • Why worship and obedience are powerful components of spiritual warfare Mary Lou also discusses prayer, spiritual warfare, and the importance of recognizing that the heavens belong to Almighty God—not the powers of darkness. The episode opens with a call for believers to respond to spiritual opposition by declaring biblical truth and magnifying the Creator rather than fearing the enemy. In this lesson from the Gate of Fear of Heaven (Shaar Yirat Shamayim), Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe continues the powerful parable of the royal soul. The human neshamah is compared to the daughter of a king—pure, precious, and lofty—yet placed inside a physical body filled with earthly desires. The body wants comfort, food, pleasure, materialism, and immediate gratification, while the soul longs for holiness and closeness to Hashem. This tension between body and soul is not a defect in creation; it is the very arena in which human greatness is achieved.Rabbi Wolbe explains that our mission is not to reject the physical world, but to elevate it. Physical experiences can become extraordinarily holy when directed properly. He illustrates this through marriage and intimacy: what the outside world may treat as merely physical can, within the sanctity of a Jewish marriage, become one of the holiest expressions of Divine service. Torah awakens the soul to remember its royalty and teaches us not to “sell ourselves cheaply” by living beneath our spiritual dignity. The lesson then turns to the unique privilege and responsibility of the Jewish people. Hashem gave us Torah and mitzvos as the means through which we recognize His greatness, develop Yirat Shamayim, and draw closer to Him. Looking at the heavens, the earth, the sun, moon, and stars can awaken awareness of the Creator—but Torah gives that awareness clarity and direction. Through learning and mitzvah observance, we begin to understand not only that Hashem exists, but what He wants from us.Rabbi Wolbe concludes by describing Yirat Shamayim as Hashem's greatest treasure. Gold, silver, possessions, and worldly success cannot compare to the clarity of knowing our relationship with God. The more we invest in Torah, mitzvos, and Hashem's wisdom, the more we awaken the royal soul within and recognize how privileged we are to live in a personal relationship with the Creator._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on February 16, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on August 11, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Share your questions at aw@torchweb.org or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content.  _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life.  To directly send your questions, comments, and feedback, please email: awolbe@torchweb.org_____________Support Our Mission:Our Mission is Connecting Jews & Judaism. Dung beetles may not be a very pleasant subject, but after all, someone has to do the housekeeping. So God created what man has classified into 30,000 species of dung beetle. Many will form their finds into a ball about the size of a croquet ball and roll it home for the wife and kids. Others tunnel beneath a find and set up housekeeping there.A purple flower in Borneo, however, cuts into the productivity of one of the tunneling species without giving it anything in return. This flower smells, not like a rose, but like dung. It relies primarily on this dung beetle for pollination. Studies show that most other pollinators will examine the flower, but perhaps put off by the smell, won't attempt to pollinate it. But the dung beetle is a successful pollinator as it searches the flower for food. The flower's unpleasant odor seems designed to do nothing other than fool the beetle into pollinating it. It apparently offers the beetle nothing. It would be nonsense to say that this flower designed this strategy to attract a beetle able to pollinate it. It would be just as silly to say that the impersonal forces of evolution designed this deceptive plant. Only an all-powerful, all-wise Creator could have designed this relationship, which intricately weaves together needs and abilities to make the whole creation work!Isaiah 40:28"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.”Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, give us more wisdom and understanding, that we may be more like You. Ben Curtis is Global Brand Vice President of Sure/Rexona at Unilever, and is just back the US where he ran the brand's first-ever Men's World Cup as a FIFA official partner. He came on Unofficial Partner before the tournament to talk about what he was walking into; this is the debrief — what worked, what didn't, and what a global personal-care brand actually gets for the money, from the armpit branding on the fourth official's board (a Rexona first at a World Cup) to the New York activation built around creators rather than TV spots.Joining him is Mayowa Quadri, head of brand at the football-and-culture publisher Versus, a creator and consultant who worked on Rexona's campaign from the other side of the table. What does a global brand actually get for a World Cup sponsorship? Ben breaks down how Rexona measured return in near-real time — from brand mentions, to creator content earning 10x that, to cultural moments running into the millions of engagements — and where the brand ranked against Adidas and Coca-Cola.Was the fourth-official armpit branding a gimmick or a strategy? The Rexona sign held up at every substitution was a World Cup first. Ben argues it's a durable strategic position rather than a one-off joke; Richard presses on whether the idea has legs beyond its novelty. How much of the marketing budget now goes to creators rather than TV? Ben's answer is the headline number: a decisive swing away from traditional advertising in the space of a single World Cup cycle.Has the way we consume a World Cup fundamentally changed? Mayowa on clip culture, the Americanisation of the tournament, and a younger audience watching through creators and streamers rather than buying broadcast packages — and why broadcasters are now behaving like creators themselves. What makes a brand-creator relationship work, and when does it fail? Both sides on the shift from prescriptive deliverables to briefing intent, the trust a brand has to extend, and the fast route to losing an audience by looking like you've sold out.Is football still a sport, or is it now a culture? Mayowa's case that the footballer is a human being with interests beyond the 90 minutes — and how brands are buying into fashion, music and identity rather than match results. What is the media agency actually for now? How Unilever identifies communities and maps creators against them, the rise of nano-creators as word-of-mouth amplifiers, and why the direct brand-to-creator connection still matters. Can the controversies around FIFA stay 'priced in'? With Infantino in the headlines, whether the noise around the governing body touches the sponsors who fund it — and Mayowa's argument that player power, not sponsor pressure, is the variable that could actually move things.Unofficial Partner is the leading podcast for the business of sport. The Bible begins with four powerful words: “In the beginning God…” In Part One of The Scarlet Thread, Pastor Jay Tyler begins a journey from Genesis to Revelation, following the story of redemption that ultimately leads to Jesus. Genesis 1:1 reveals God as the eternal Creator, the One from whom everything comes and to whom everything belongs. But the Creator did something extraordinary: He entered His own creation to redeem what sin had broken. From the very beginning, the scarlet thread is there, pointing us toward Jesus Christ, the Creator who became our Redeemer.

877 · Disney Worldbuilders Interview with Leslie IwerksDisney Worldbuilders asks a question most of us have never thought to ask... where does a Disney world actually begin? Not the land. Not the ride. The moment before any of it existed, when it was still just a feeling inside one person's head. This week I sit down with Leslie Iwerks, director of The Imagineering Story and Disneyland Handcrafted, to talk about her ambitious new documentary. Disney Worldbuilders brings together Bob Iger, Josh D'Amaro, James Cameron, Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Pete Docter, Jennifer Lee, and Jared Bush for a series of remarkably candid conversations about how deeply personal ideas become stories, characters, and physical worlds that millions of people can walk into.I had the privilege of screening the film before its release, and it is even better than I hoped. In our conversation, Leslie shares:Why so many of today's most influential creators were Disney fans first, and what that says about the parksHow personal struggles and childhood memories shaped stories like Frozen, Inside Out, and ZootopiaThe brutal note Jared Bush received on an early version of Zootopia, and what pulled it back from the edgeWhy Kevin Feige's favorite detail in any Disney land is a construction wallWhy story and technology have always worked together at Disney, going back to Walt and UbWhat creative failure, uncertainty, and rejection can teach the rest of usHow great leadership protects storytellers and creative riskWhy honoring Disney's history cannot mean being afraid to evolve itThe moment Leslie filmed that became the emotional heart of the filmLeslie also reflects on her grandfather, Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, and her father, Disney Legend Don Iwerks, and how their legacy of combining storytelling and technology continues through Disney's worldbuilders today. She does not just study world builders. Matthew 13:44, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” I want you to imagine for a moment coming to the end of your life, and standing before your Creator as he shows you a life of your movie. Everything you did in your entire lifetime. And imagine realizing you missed the whole point of life. Sadly, that will be many of us. Oh we’ll make it to heaven, we’ll gain our ticket of entrance into the Holy Gates – not because of a single thing we did, but all as humble and unworthy recipients of what the man on the cross did for us. But the time we had here on earth was wasted. We focused on the wrong things. We stressed about things that weren’t within our control. We rushed through the important things. And we quite simply missed the point. Here, standing with God having the experience of eternity and seeing our life as a movie, we would have a new found perspective of the time we were allotted on Earth. We would see that this entire time we were spiritual beings having our human experience. Really nothing more and nothing less. We were never bodies that just happen to also have a soul. We were first and foremost souls that were gifted these bodies for just a brief moment in the history of the world. Seeing this, knowing this, understanding this – we would be able to return to this life and get it right. With Heaven’s perspective we would know what’s truly important and what isn’t. And what is it we would have found – TREASURE. Hidden treasure. Right here in our own lives. Now, let’s read Jesus’ Parable of the Treasure again. “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Oh that God would give us a heavenly perspective, right here as our spiritual selves have our brief human experience. We would let go of everything we’ve been holding so tightly in order to obtain the real treasure. The treasure of the time and opportunities we’ve been given here of eternal importance. Once you recognize what is truly valuable, your entire definition of a good life changes. WHAT IF YOU COULD SEE THE TREASURE NOW? What if God could give you just a glimpse today of what you will understand when this life is over? What if you could see your life from Heaven’s perspective—not to make you feel guilty about what you’ve done, but to help you recognize what actually matters while you still have time to do something about it? I think we would be shocked. We would look at the things we spent so much time worrying about and wonder, ‘Why did I give that so much of my attention?’ We would look at the things we were chasing and say, ‘Why did I think that would make me happy?’ We would look at the things we were so afraid of losing and realize, ‘Those things were never mine to keep anyway.’ And then we would see the things we almost missed. That conversation that was the last one, when we didn’t know it was the last one. The sunset we were too busy to notice. The person God put in our path. The chance to say, “I love you.” The ordinary Monday that we rushed through because we were waiting for something more exciting to happen. And we would realize: THAT was the treasure. Not the bigger house. Not the nicer car. Not the perfect body. Not the job title. Not the bank account. Not the perfectly organized life. Those things aren’t necessarily bad. But they were never the point. The treasure was hidden in the middle of the life God has already given us. And isn’t that exactly what Jesus says? The man finds treasure hidden in a field. He doesn’t have to travel across the world to find it. He doesn’t have to manufacture it. He doesn’t have to earn it. He discovers something of incredible value that was already there. I wonder how much treasure is already buried in your life. THE TREASURE IS OFTEN ORDINARY We tend to think God’s best things must be big things. A big calling. A big breakthrough. A big adventure. A big answer to prayer. But some of the most eternally significant things God will ever do through you may look incredibly ordinary while you’re doing them. A meal around your table. A prayer whispered over someone who is hurting. A simple phone call you make time for. A child who knows they are loved. A stranger who experiences kindness. A person who comes to Jesus because they watched you live differently. A quiet morning where you opened God’s Word instead of opening your phone. These moments don’t look impressive on Instagram. But Heaven doesn’t measure life the way Instagram does. Heaven knows the value of things Earth overlooks. And that changes the question we should be asking. Instead of: “How can I make my life bigger?” Maybe the better question is: “How can I make my life matter?” Instead of: “What can I accomplish?” Ask: “Who can I love?” Instead of: “What can I accumulate?” Ask: “What can I give?” Instead of: “How can I protect my time?” Ask: “What is God asking me to do with the time I’ve been given?” Because someday, every single one of us will discover that time was the most valuable thing we ever possessed—and we were spending it every single day. WHAT ARE YOU TRADING YOUR LIFE FOR? The man in Jesus’ story discovers the treasure and then does something radical. He sells everything he has. Why? Because he finally understands value. He isn’t making a sacrifice because he’s miserable. He does it “in his joy.” That’s important. When you really understand the value of the Kingdom, surrender doesn’t feel like losing. It feels like trading up. You aren’t giving up your life. You’re finally learning what your life is for. And maybe that’s the question Jesus wants to put in front of us today: What are you trading your life for? Because you are trading it for something. Every day. Your time is being spent. Your attention is being spent. Your energy is being spent. Your thoughts are being spent. The question isn’t whether you are spending your life. The question is: Are you spending it on what is actually valuable? Because you can spend your entire life building something that disappears in an instant. Or you can spend your life investing in things that outlive you. HEAVEN’S PERSPECTIVE CHANGES TODAY And here’s the beautiful part: We don’t have to wait until Heaven to get Heaven’s perspective. We can ask God for it now. “God, show me what I’m missing. Show me what I’m holding too tightly. Show me what I’m worrying about that doesn’t matter. Show me where I’m wasting time. Show me who needs me. Show me what I need to release. Show me the treasure that is already buried in the life You’ve given me.” Because maybe your life doesn’t need a complete overhaul. Maybe you don’t need a new house, a new job, a new relationship, or a new body. Maybe you need new eyes. Maybe the ordinary life you’ve been overlooking is the very life God wants you to live intentionally. Maybe the people you’ve been taking for granted are the treasure. Maybe the time you’ve been wasting is the treasure. Maybe the season you’re complaining about is carrying something God wants to teach you. Maybe the field you’ve been looking past is the field where the treasure is buried. SO WHAT DO WE DO WITH THIS TODAY? Look at your life today and ask: What matters for eternity? Then do more of that. Who matters for eternity? Love them. What relationship needs attention? Give it attention. What conversation have you been putting off? Have it. What grudge are you carrying? Release it. What’s keeping you distracted? Put it down. What has God been asking you to do? Stop negotiating and do it. What are you constantly worrying about that you cannot control? Give it to God. And what ordinary, beautiful thing have you been rushing past? Slow down long enough to see it. Because one day, we will see this life differently. We will understand what mattered. We will understand what didn’t. And I don’t want to wait until then. I want to recognize the treasure now. I want to live today like the woman I will wish I had been when I see my life from Heaven. Because the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. And perhaps the most incredible thing about the parable isn’t that the treasure was there. It’s that the man found it. Maybe that’s what Jesus is inviting us to do today. Look again. Look at your life. Look at your people. Look at your time. Look at your opportunities. Look at this very ordinary Monday. There is treasure here. Don’t miss it. Welcome to Day 2922 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2923 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 150:1-6 Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2923 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2923 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Cosmic Crescendo – Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord! On our previous expedition—on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Two—we explored the fourth movement of the "Final Hallel" in Psalm One Hundred Forty-Nine. We marveled at the powerful, revolutionary posture of God's faithful ones, who sing a new song of victory, rejoice on their beds of rest, and carry both the high praises of God in their mouths and the two-edged sword of divine truth in their hands to execute the written judgments of heaven. Today, on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Three of our trek, we reach the ultimate summit, the grand finale, and the absolute crown of the entire Book of Psalms: Psalm One Hundred Fifty, verses one through six. This brief, six-verse hymn is the grand crescendo toward which all one hundred forty-nine preceding psalms have been steadily marching. The tears of lament, the pleas for rescue in dark caves, the struggles against deceptive enemies, the prayers for direction, and the celebrations of royal victory all dissolve into one uninhibited, all-encompassing, galactic explosion of pure praise. In this final psalm, we are given the ultimate masterclass in worship, answering the four fundamental questions of praise: where to praise, why to praise, how to praise, and who should praise. The Dual Sanctuary: Praise in the Heavenly and Earthly Courts Let us open our ears to the thunderous opening salvo of this final psalm, as recorded in the New Living Translation, grouping together the logical, contiguous thoughts found in verse one and verse two. Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! The psalmist launches this final doxology with an explosive series of commands, shouting, “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!” He then immediately provides the unshakeable foundation for this worship, declaring, “Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness!” Notice how verse one answers the critical question of where God is to be praised! The psalmist points to two interconnected locations: "in his sanctuary" and "in his mighty heavens." To fully appreciate the spiritual magnitude of this pairing, we must view it through the Ancient Israelite divine-council worldview. In ancient biblical theology, the earthly sanctuary—the tabernacle, and later the temple in Jerusalem—was understood to be a physical micro-copy and Earthly anchor of the true, celestial temple in heaven. When the psalmist calls for praise in both the earthly sanctuary and the "mighty heavens"—or literally, the raqia, the radiant dome of the sky—he is calling for a complete synchronization of the two realms! He is summoning the human worshipper on earth to lift their voice in perfect harmony with the angelic hosts, the seraphim, and the heavenly assembly gathered around the supreme throne of Yahweh. Then, in verse two, the psalmist answers the question of why we offer this praise! We praise Him for two distinct reasons: His actions and His character. We praise Him for His "mighty works"—His tangible, historical acts of creation, deliverance, covenant-keeping, and redemption. And we praise Him for His "unequaled greatness"—His inherent, infinite, unsearchable majesty that sets Him completely apart from every created entity, every earthly monarch, and every rival spiritual power in existence. He stands entirely without equal! The Full Symphony of Sacred Sound: The Heavenly Orchestra The narrative now transitions into a magnificent, detailed blueprint answering the question of how God is to be praised, weaving together every category of musical instrument in verse three, verse four, and verse five. Praise him with a blast of the ram's horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud, clanging cymbals! The psalmist unleashes a dizzying, symphonic array of instruments, commanding, “Praise him with a blast of the ram's horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud, clanging cymbals!” Look at the astonishing variety and sensory richness of this worship band! The psalmist intentionally gathers instruments from every sphere of Israelite life to create a total, unrestricted environment of praise. He begins with the shofar—the ram's horn—whose piercing, resonant blast was blown by priests to announce sacred assemblies, signal royal coronations, and sound the charge on the day of battle. He then adds the delicate, melodic elegance of royal court music: the lyre, the harp, wind flutes, and plucked stringed instruments. Furthermore, he brings in the joyous, rhythmic percussion of village celebrations: the tambourine, expressive communal dancing, and the metallic, reverberating crash of loud, clanging cymbals! In the ancient world, different instruments were often reserved for specific social classes or localized rituals. The elite played the lyre; the priests blew the shofar; the women danced with tambourines. But here, in the grand finale of the Psalter, all artificial boundaries are completely demolished! Every sound, every rhythm, every melody, every instrument, and every cultural art form is recruited into one massive, glorious, roaring avalanche of sacred sound, dedicated entirely to the King of kings. The Universal Anthem: Everything That Has Breath Having established where to praise, why to praise, and how to praise, the psalmist reaches the final, climactic verse of the entire Book of Psalms, answering the ultimate question of who should praise in verse six. Let everything that lives and breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! With one final, breathless, cosmic shout that echoes across the centuries, the psalmist closes the entire collection, commanding, “Let everything that lives and breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” What a staggering, magnificent climax to this multi-month journey through the psalter! The Hebrew phrase used here for "everything that lives and breathes" is kol ha-neshamah—literally, every single breath! This single line brings the entire biblical narrative full circle. Way back in Genesis chapter two, Yahweh bent down into the dust of the earth and breathed the neshamah—the divine breath of life—into human nostrils, animating humanity to become living souls. Now, at the end of the Book of Psalms, the purpose of that breath is fully disclosed! Every lungful of oxygen you inhale, every pulse of air that moves past your vocal cords, and every breath taken by every living creature across the entire planet is designed for one supreme purpose: to return to its Creator in grateful, joyous adoration! Notice how this final verse connects seamlessly with the journey we have taken together through the "Final Hallel," from Psalm One Hundred Forty-Six through One Hundred Fifty. In Psalm One Hundred Forty-Six, the psalmist vowed, "I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath." In Psalm One Hundred Forty-Eight, he called upon the stars, the stormy winds, the sea monsters, and human kings to praise the Lord. Now, here in Psalm One Hundred Fifty, all individual voices, all instruments, all celestial beings, all earthly creatures, and all breathing life unite into one final, eternal Hallelujah! As we stand at the summit of this magnificent book today, let us carry this ultimate legacy of wisdom into our daily lives. Whatever wilderness you are trekking through, whatever dark caves you have lived in, and whatever mountains you must climb, remember the ultimate destination of your story. You were created by an infinite, loving God; you were redeemed by His mighty works; and your very breath belongs to Him. Take a deep breath right now, lift your heart to the heavens, and join the cosmic choir in shouting: Hallelujah—Praise the Lord! If you found this podcast insightful,...

World War III is the greatest of them all, and it is the war for the winning vision. He who tells the story of the human race, the narrative, is the one who will control it. There are two sides to the vision of the Torah, the faith in the Creator of the universe who created humans in His image, and the knowledge that each of us has an evil inclination designed to enable us to fight for any true success. Only an uncompromising commitment to these two principles can put us on the path to success, as individuals and as a society. Seven years ago, New Yorker staff writer Jia Tolentino coined the term “Instagram Face.” Now we talk about how current beauty standards are changing our relationship to reality. “It seems more explicitly anti-human right now than ever before,” she tells Tonya Mosley. “There seems to be something that's dove-tailing with the age of AI.” Also, we hear from Lee Sung Jin, creator of the Netflix series Beef. The second season is a story about class and blackmail at an exclusive country club. He talks about how he has pulled ideas from his own life, and his experience working in writers rooms as the only Asian person. Film critic Justin Chang reviews the new erotic comedy I Want Your Sex, starring Olivia Wilde.Subscribe to our free weekly newsletter Follow us on Instagram Subscribe to our YouTube channel Check out the Fresh Air ArchivesSupport public media with NPR+ and enjoy perks for over 25 podcasts like this one.
