What can Gandalf teach us about life? How did The Matrix convince Charles to try lo mein? Why are Charles and Joe—usually two dads with very different nerdy interests—suddenly united in their love for Spider-Man: Brand New Day? And exactly how much housework is enough housework? This week on Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom, Charles and Joe tackle all of those questions and plenty more in an episode packed with movies, conventions, parenting, terrible dad jokes, and some surprisingly serious conversations about relationships and household responsibilities. The episode kicks off with the Question of the Week: “What's the most unexpectedly deep life lesson you've learned from a piece of entertainment?” Joe pulls some wisdom from Gandalf, while Charles explains how The Matrix somehow inspired him to finally give lo mein a try. Because apparently, sometimes the path to personal growth runs through Middle-earth—and sometimes it runs through Chinese takeout. Then the Roll of the Dice determines what's next, and something incredibly rare happens: Charles and Joe are nerding out about the exact same thing! Both hosts dive into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, sharing their enthusiasm and singing the praises of a movie they thoroughly enjoyed. If you're a Spider-Man fan, this is one conversation you won't want to miss. Next up is “Daddy, Tell Me A Story,” where the conversation turns toward Dragon Con. Charles and Joe look back at their past convention experiences while also talking about what they're excited to see and do at Dragon Con 2026. Whether you're a longtime convention veteran or someone considering attending your first con, there's plenty of fandom-fueled excitement to go around. Of course, no episode of Wise_N_Nerdy would be complete without the Bad Dad Jokes. The dice have spoken, the fates have spoken, and unfortunately, the dads have jokes. Prepare yourself for some spectacularly terrible puns and the inevitable groans that follow. From there, the “How Do I...?” segment tackles one of the most dangerous territories at any convention: the vendor hall. Charles and Joe discuss some of the pitfalls shoppers can encounter, what they look for when browsing convention vendors, and how to make the most of the experience without walking away wondering how you somehow spent that much money. Finally, the Parliament of Papas weighs in on a Reddit relationship story involving a wife who believes her husband isn't pulling his weight around the house—even while acknowledging that he may actually be doing around 60% of the household work. Charles and Joe dig into the complexities of household responsibilities, expectations, communication, and why percentages alone may not tell the whole story. From unexpected life lessons and Spider-Man to Dragon Con, bad dad jokes, convention shopping, and relationship debates, this episode has a little something for every kind of nerd and every kind of parent. So grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and join the conversation. Find your FAMdom with Wise_N_Nerdy! Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom Learn more about your ad choices. The WNBA is having a moment. Viewership is up. Attendance for this year's WNBA All-Star Game surpassed the NBA's All-Star Game. Games and events can be viewed in a record number of places, from broadcast to cable and streaming. And just this week, Angel Reese of the Atlanta Dream set a single-game record. But the stories about the WNBA capturing national attention in recent weeks are about none of that. Instead, the focus has been on two retired NBA players, including Enes Kanter Freedom, who showed up courtside at an August 23 Chicago Sky–Indiana Fever game wearing a T-shirt that said "Woman: noun. adult human female."“I don't believe that he's being genuine in any realm, in order to create this mass hysteria of sorts for an issue that's actually simply a non-issue,” says Angela Perry, a WNBA content creator, tells The Intercept Briefing. “There are no trans women in the WNBA; there are none attempting to be in the WNBA.”This week on The Intercept Briefing podcast, host Jessica Washington speaks to Perry and journalist Katelyn Burns about how the premier women's professional basketball league has found itself at the center of a right-wing manufactured panic.“The right has made such hay out of trans women in women's sports that they need to keep inventing controversies in order to keep this issue front of mind,” says Burns who writes for the independent newsletter Burns Notice and co-hosts the Cancel Me, Daddy podcast. “We have a midterm election coming up, and to be frank with you, the only thing that the right has done besides terrorizing immigrants is banning trans women from women's sports. It's at the center of almost all of their policies,” continues Burns. “They are inventing controversies about trans people in sports where there are no trans people involved.”“This is about women in general. They're already talking about not wanting women to have the right to vote,” says Perry. “This isn't just about sports. There's a political party trying to scale us back to what they perceive was a time where things were better. But really, it was when women were more controlled.”“The bigger issue is that the people who think that they're protected, it's always going to get to the protected class eventually,” warns Perry. “Right now, the focus is trans, and people think they're safe because ‘I'm not trans. I'm a cis woman and I'm protected.' But it will impact you.”For more, listen to the full conversation of The Intercept Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you listen.Full transcript: https://interc.pt/3UXTwXsKeep our investigations free and fearless at theintercept.com/join. The girls are back, and this week's episode is a perfect little haunted-theater, true-crime anxiety spiral. Cute? No. Creepy? Extremely. First, Monique tells the story of British comedian Jason Manford, who got cast in the West End revival of Sweeney Todd at London's historic Adelphi Theatre. Every night after getting his throat slashed onstage, Jason would clean off the fake blood and FaceTime his wife and twin daughters before bed. How sweet. Until his three-year-old daughter asked, “Daddy, who's that man behind you?” A tall man with dark hair, a mustache, and a soldier's uniform: a description that matched William Terriss, the beloved Victorian actor who was stabbed to death at the Adelphi stage door in 1897 while wearing a Union Army captain's costume. The theatre ghosts really said: yes, and? Then Amy brings us into the 1977 death of Charles “Chuck” Morgan, a Tucson escrow company president whose case is so suspicious it feels personally insulting that anyone tried to rule it as a suicide. Chuck disappeared, came home three days later missing a shoe, bound in plastic handcuffs, unable to speak and writing that he had been kidnapped and tortured. He hinted at a secret government identity, got paranoid (naturally), wore a bulletproof vest, carried a gun and told his family he had written a letter naming who was responsible if anything happened to him. Then he disappeared again. Nine days later, a mystery woman called “Green Eyes” phoned his wife with an ominous Bible passage and soon after, Chuck was found in the desert wearing his bulletproof vest, shot in the back of the head, with a $2 bill pinned to his underwear and absolutely no reasonable explanation. Police ruled it suicide. Monique and Amy, correctly, said: no, girl, no. If you take anything away from this episode, let it be this: when a three-year-old sees a crying soldier behind you, maybe believe the fucking child.
This week, Courtney and Whitney dedicate the episode to a woman who has been part of the soundtrack of their lives: Dolly Parton. The Sisters celebrate the Queen of Country through the things that connected her most closely to their own lives: sisters, moms, childhood memories, food and the dinner table. Whitney shares how Dolly's words helped her find peace after IVF and embrace a life without children. Courtney recalls seeing 9 to 5 in the theaters with Momma and Daddy which eventually led to her showing up to an NFL player's Halloween party dressed as Dolly. What is really up for discussion is if one of Dolly's album covers inspired her to enhance her own assets It's their very personal tribute to an icon who made being completely yourself look pretty damn good. Today, after staying on Jon Ossoff's email list for eight years, I finally hit unsubscribe. This is my Dear Jon letter, and in some ways, the moment I will really be saying goodbye to the Democratic Party once and for all.I will admit I held on too long with Ossoff. Try as I might over the past six years since leaving the party to extricate myself from their relentless email machine, I didn't mind when Ossoff's emails flew into my mailbox. In 2017, I saw in Ossoff what the Democrats needed as they tried to find their next Obama stand-in. He fit the bill perfectly. I also liked how he didn't seem to buy into the party's increasingly crazy extremes but was comfortably moderate, at least for a time. My record with Federal political donations tells the tale. If anyone looks at my record, they'll see I continued donating to ActBlue through 2025. Except that I didn't. I just didn't realize they were charging me all that time. That's how relentless they are and how stupid I am. The Glow-UpBefore the expensive makeup, strategic lighting and tight shirts, Ossoff looked like what Steve Bannon would call a “pencil-necked geek.” He was too skinny, even if he was an Obama clone. He seemed too good, too clean for dirty politics back then. I fell for the lie that Ossoff really was a self-made man, a “filmmaker who turned to politics,” per this Wall Street Journal video. He is hardly self-made. More like a hot house flower.Ossoff grew up in a political household. Both parents were heavily involved in politics. At just 19, he began working on Capitol Hill for Rep. Hank Johnson while attending Georgetown's School of Foreign Service and continued working for him until 2012. His email list was mostly the kind of thing you'd get in the old days of the Democratic Party, the kind of thing you'd expect from the Obama clone factory. But that isn't really where Ossoff is now in his political career. He is determined not to go down as a squeaky-clean beta male. No, Ossoff has gotten SWOLE. He appears to have brought in a team to fix the look to be camera-ready. The makeup, the hair, the dimples. Ossoff finally looks the part. He can do alpha. All of a sudden, he's the guy everyone is talking about. He's the guy who is suddenly the hottie on tap. True, he's Jewish, and that's a problem for the Democrats, but no one really talks about that. Instead, they're selling the matinee idol on TikTok. The truth is, I didn't think about Jon Ossoff much until he went viral for channeling his inner sexist in a desperate bid to get attention and rise to the top of the pile. And it worked. He went viral! He's in the headlines now, and everyone knows his name. But this version of Jon Ossoff will never be president. He's abandoned what made him exceptional in the first place, his decency and his goodness. The sharks demanded flesh and blood, and he gave it to them, but it will come at a cost. One of the main reasons Democrats have failed for the past ten years to gain any purchase in this country has been their obsessive fixation on Trump, which is pretty much all Ossoff is doing. It's a race to the bottom to see who can out-Trump Trump, to be more confrontational, more bullying, more vulgar, and tougher. They believe this will solve their “man problem,” and who knows, maybe it will. I look at Ossoff now, and I don't see someone tough or brave. I see a coward.Ossoff, like James Talarico and almost every Democrat, is now leaning into the party's extremes. Because of course he is. He has to. In his viral speech in Atlanta, he referenced his daughters and said they will ask him one day how he let things get so bad, and, in the same sentence, dismiss the concerns of little girls and women in sports.Guess what, Jon: thousands of little girls will one day ask you why you let it happen, why you allowed so many of them to believe they should amputate their breasts when they could not consent. They will look to you, Jon. You will have to tell them why you pretended biological males had no advantage in sports because you were too cowardly to stand up to your own party. I once thought Ossoff was a good man. Now I see him as a desperate man, no different from any other Democrat, so much so that he's given himself over to what has become an uncontrollable fetish on the Left to dehumanize Donald Trump and his supporters. They slut-shamed Melania's modeling photos, splashing them all over social media. They suggested Trump was having an affair with his own daughter. They took a bath in Karoline Leavitt's Vanity Fair photos, which splashed all over TikTok and led to her being called KKKaroline. They mocked Kellyanne Conway's age and her face, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders' makeup. It's grotesque and repulsive, but it is typical and ongoing. Even now, Rosie O'Donnell is out there on primetime television calling Trump a “serial pedophile and rapist.” It doesn't matter if it's true. It only matters if it happened in their imagination. They spent whole seasons giggling about the particulars of the Stormy Daniels affair, and they were willing to forgive lusty E. Jean Carroll's sexy talk at Anderson Cooper and envision instead a ridiculous, implausible, violent rape incident that most likely never happened. They call Trump a rapist so they can kill him. They call him a racist so they can kill him. They call him a fascist so they can kill him. They call him a pedophile so they can kill him. They just want to kill him, and every day the hungry beast must be fed. Before you say “But Trump says…” there's a difference. No one on the Right, least of all Trump, pretends to be morally superior to the other half of the country as they have on the Left. There are no death fantasies. They don't go “no contact.” They don't destroy your career if you even so much as like a post by the other side. The price of admission in their world is that you have to want Trump dead too. You must forsake him, and then they will welcome you with open arms. That's who they are and what they've become and why I could not and will never be a part of that world anymore. Now, Ossoff has become one of them. The party of women knows destroying a woman like Natalie Harp isn't a good look, because she is sympathetic. She's a homeschooled bone cancer survivor whose father committed suicide. And Ossoff, to paraphrase Aaron Sorkin, gets on television and calls her a w***e.And that, more than anything, defines the men of the Left, too. They can't stand up to those crazy, crazy women. They have no real courage to stand up to the extremists either. They know they are muzzled and must do as they're told. Cowardly beta males like musician Bill Madden, a keyboard warrior whose fingers tingle every day when he has the chance to say the worst things he can as long as it's aimed at women on the Right. It kind of helps to see what he really looks like, just a fading nobody clinging to his youth. This quote is on his Wikipedia: “… when it comes to inequality, historically, no group of people has been discriminated against more than women. Men have been f*****g up the world for thousands of years. It's time we give more women a chance to lead.”Oh really? I guess you have to say which women, eh Bill? Not all of them. It's possible the Democrats overplayed their hand and have realized the Natalie Harp story is not a win for them. You can see them now reeling it in, trying to say Trump amplified it as a distraction because it makes the Democrats look bad. Oh no, my friends, you did that all on your own. The problem is that where there is chum in the water, there are hungry sharks. The lower the Democrats go, like Jennifer Welch and Hasan Piker, the more the candidates seeking office must feed the hungry beasts. The Party of Crazy, Crazy WomenThey might think the Great Feminization has made society better, but it has left them like a women's prison, or stranded on a desert island with the only men in sight being the weak, flaccid, pandering, ineffectual men of the Left. And that has left the women, shall we say, a bit unhinged. Can you blame the women stuck on that island for losing their minds when they saw Zohran Mamdani's TikToks? Most of what he does now seems directly related to how much women on TikTok will swoon over him. Parents' night out? Free helmets? Doxing millionaires? Free groceries? Rent freeze!Abdul El-Sayed is following the same sales pitch of aiming his TikTok videos at the young ladies, flexing his muscles and waving his backside at the camera in a way no white man could ever get away with, certainly not while positioning themselves as a sexy “Daddy” figure. They don't just want sexy back; they also want to be the party of fun and are working on a TikTok rebrand. The problem is that the base of the Democratic Party, mostly white women, are nuttier than a five-pound fruitcake. We found out just how nutty this past week as a movement began to form in support of child murderer Lindsay Clancy. There they were again, those crazy, crazy women showcasing their pathology on TikTok. They weren't shaving their heads this time or wearing blue bracelets. They were elevating Lindsay Clancy as the victim, even after she confessed to strangling the life out of her three kids. These are the kinds of lunatics whose votes Jon Ossoff needs. And that is why he has finally given them exactly what they want. The irony of all of this is Natalie Harp was hurled into the arena for unending mockery, slut-shaming, and fantasies. Doesn't she count as a woman, too? Isn't she worthy of support? A Feeding FrenzyThe media was all too ready to devour the bloody chum Ossoff threw into the water. It's just that, as with everything they do, it's not real. It's fake news. There is no bottom when it comes to how they report on Donald Trump and especially the women who surround him. But some of the lows have been extraordinary, like dragging out Harp's wayward, socialist hippie brother to exploit the tragedy of their falling out after the death of their father. It doesn't get much darker than that. Or more desperate. Here is Larry O'Connor on Townhall:O'Connor again with Mark Halperin and Kevin Walling on Next Up:Scott Jennings had no trouble setting the record straight.Ossoff's sleazy attack on Harp reveals his biggest weakness. He wants it too bad, and he sold himself out. And maybe that makes him ready to be the democratic nominee. Want those big donations? Trash women, trash working-class voters, dehumanize your fellow Americans. Sell women and girls down the river. Pander to the extremists. Smear the character of a young woman like Natalie Harp just to go viral, just to please the unhinged women on the Left who don't even know what a woman is. For his part, Trump flicked Ossoff away like a speck of dust on his suit, calling him Pee Wee Herman. And if we know one thing about Donald Trump, once you get hit with a nickname, it sticks. //Become a paid subscriber or leave a tip.Manage subscription This is a public episode. What level of coffee snob would your favorite fictional character be? Would Captain America carefully curate the perfect cup, would The Hulk simply smash the coffee machine, or would the bizarre Worms from Men in Black somehow have the most sophisticated coffee preferences of them all? Charles and Joe kick off this episode of Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom with a hilarious Question of the Week that combines fandom, coffee culture, and plenty of ridiculous speculation. After the traditional Roll of the Dice, the show jumps straight into "What Are You Nerding Out About?" Joe shares his excitement over playing Lords of Waterdeep during his family reunion. He talks about the strategy, fun, and familiar board-game vibes that reminded him of Ticket to Ride, making it a perfect addition to a family gathering. Meanwhile, Charles is celebrating an exciting opportunity at Dragon Con, where he's getting to conduct interviews and connect with some incredible people as an official convention spokesperson. The dice then lead the hosts into the "Parliament of Papas", where Charles and Joe tackle a question from TheFullRunThrough: Should parents correct their children when they mispronounce words in an adorable or funny way? The conversation explores the balance between preserving those precious childhood moments and making sure kids eventually learn the correct pronunciation. Naturally, no Wise_N_Nerdy episode would be complete without a Bad Dad Joke, and this week's contribution involves skydiving. Prepare yourself for another joke that is almost certainly better at making you groan than it is at making you laugh. Next, the "How Do I...?" segment takes on a challenge many parents eventually face: How do you support your child's obsession when it's something you're not interested in yourself? Charles and Joe dive deep into the importance of showing up for your kids, learning about the things they love, asking questions, and finding ways to connect even when their hobbies aren't your personal cup of tea. It's a thoughtful conversation about parenting, connection, and reminding our children that their passions matter because they matter. Finally, the episode wraps with "Daddy, Tell Me A Story," where Charles shares a memorable—and decidedly unpleasant—family story involving his wife suffering from severe food poisoning that ultimately resulted in an emergency room visit. It's another reminder that family memories aren't always the glamorous adventures; sometimes they're the stories you tell years later because you can't believe they actually happened. From fictional coffee preferences and board games to Dragon Con, parenting dilemmas, terrible dad jokes, supporting your kids' passions, and an unexpected trip to the ER, this episode has plenty of laughs, nerdy enthusiasm, and genuine fatherhood wisdom. So grab your favorite coffee, settle in, and join the conversation. Whether you're a board-game fan, anime and pop-culture enthusiast, convention-goer, or parent trying to navigate the wonderfully chaotic journey of raising kids, there's a place for you here. Find your FAMdom and join Charles and Joe for another adventure where family, fandom, and fun come together. Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom Learn more about your ad choices. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: August 19, 2026This episode of Weird Darkness covers the marriage application Chris Watts filed from a Wisconsin prison eight years after murdering his pregnant wife and their two young daughters, and the long record of women who write to, visit and marry men who will never get out.It opens at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin, where an inmate may touch a visitor twice, once at the start of a visit and once at the end, an embrace reporting puts at roughly ten seconds. On August 12th, 2026 the Daily Mail reported that Chris Watts, 41, and a 39-year-old Cleveland realtor named Lizzie Henderson had applied to marry inside the Wisconsin prison system. Lizzie had moved from Ohio to Wisconsin with her mother, filed a sealed petition for a confidential name change on September 12th, 2025, and appeared in prison visitor logs roughly twenty times during 2025, plus a visit on Christmas Day of 2024. Wisconsin handles these requests under policy 309.00.06, PIOC Marriages, which routes the application through a marriage coordinator and leaves the decision with the warden. No ceremony or license has been documented, and Watts has no projected release date. From there the episode goes back to the family. The Watts family doorbell camera recorded Shanann Watts arriving home at 1:48 in the morning on August 13th, 2018 at 2825 Saratoga Trail in Frederick, Colorado. She was 34 and fifteen weeks pregnant with a son the couple had named Nico, raising daughters Bella, four, and Celeste, three, and selling Thrive for Le-Vel while her husband worked for Anadarko Petroleum and carried on an affair with co-worker Nichol Kessinger. Watts failed a polygraph administered by Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent Tammy Lee, blamed Shanann for the girls' deaths, then retracted it. A drone over an Anadarko site called CERVI 319 found Shanann in a shallow grave and both girls submerged in crude oil inside storage tanks with eight-inch hatches. Judge Marcelo Kopcow sentenced him on November 19th, 2018 to five life sentences plus 84 years. In a February 2019 interview at Waupun, Watts described smothering Celeste in his truck while Bella sat beside her, and hearing Bella's last two words, "Daddy, no!", every time he closes his eyes. The second half opens in the autumn of 1921, when French railways ran extra trains to Versailles for the trial of Henri Désiré Landru, a furniture dealer who placed lonely-hearts advertisements in Paris newspapers and murdered eleven people. Women mailed him proposals of marriage while he awaited the guillotine. The modern version runs through Meet-An-Inmate, launched in 1998, and WriteAPrisoner, founded by Adam Lovell in 2000, which post profiles written on paper because American prisons allow no internet access; Susan Smith drew more than six thousand letters before pulling her listing in 2003. Hybristophilia, the term journalists reach for, was coined by sexologist John Money in 1986 and has never appeared in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Sheila Isenberg's Women Who Love Men Who Kill, forensic psychologist Katherine Ramsland's "perfect boyfriend" model, and sociologist Megan Comfort's San Quentin fieldwork in Doing Time Together supply what the women themselves say they are getting. Two 2025 studies found that actively seeking out romanticizing TikTok content correlated with attraction while passive exposure predicted nothing. The risk is documented in the killings of Regina Capobianco and John Mann by her pen pal Thomas Knuff in Parma Heights, Ohio, and in the strangling deaths of Stephanie Dowells and Tania Thomas during family visits at Mule Creek State Prison. The marriages run from Nina Van Zandt, who married Haymarket defendant August Spies by proxy in 1887 and may have married an innocent man, through Ted Bundy and Carole Ann Boone, Doreen Lioy and Richard Ramirez at San Quentin, the Twinkie that served as Erik Menendez and Tammi Saccoman's wedding cake, and James Whitehouse, who wrote to Susan Atkins in 1985 and went on to Harvard Law School to serve as her attorney. All of it rests on Turner v. Safley, the 1987 Supreme Court decision in which Justice Sandra Day O'Connor noted that most inmates are eventually released, leaving the man who never will be an untested case. Rhode Island's 1909 civil death statute declared lifers "dead in all respects", and Britain barred whole-life prisoners from marrying in 2024 after Milly Dowler's murderer Levi Bellfield was granted permission. The episode closes on the women who leave, absent from every study in the field. Lynn Hartman ended her engagement to Steven Avery in October of 2016 and wrote that she had been fooled by the Netflix documentary. Paula Williamson married Charles Bronson at HMP Wakefield in November of 2017, had it annulled in 2019, and died that July at thirty-eight. Anna Eriksson divorced Lyle Menendez in 2001 and still argues for his release. No agency counts prison marriages, and every figure circulating online is unsourced. Chris Watts belongs to a long file rather than a new one, having received his first letters from strangers within weeks of his December 2018 sentencing, before he had written a word to any of them.LIKE WHAT YOU'RE HEARING? The girls are back, and this episode starts in full spooky mode before Monique makes a hard left into Victorian women eating arsenic wafers for a glow up. First, Amy tells the story of Ivy Sundarji, a hardcore skeptic, atheist and science-minded TV writer who starts hearing from her late fiancé Jahangir after he drowns in the exact surfing accident she had once seen in a vision. And then a little blonde girl shows up. She says “Daddy did it.” She shows Ivy images, names, places and details that later connect to the case of five-year-old Harmony Montgomery. Ivy, who very much does not want to be “some crazy lady in Los Angeles” calling a tip line about a dead child talking to her, does it anyway. Because looking dumb matters less than justice. Then Monique goes rogue (as she should) with a deeply upsetting Victorian death-and-beauty deep dive. We're talking tuberculosis, the White Death, lead face enamel, mercury creams, belladonna eye drops, radium products and arsenic complexion wafers sold like they were cute little wellness snacks. This one is grief, ghosts, the horrors of beauty and two best friends asking, very correctly: what the fuck is wrong with people?

The first witness the jury heard in the Jared Bridegan murder trial wasn't a detective. It was a woman named Jonelle Cruz who found Bridegan's two-year-old daughter Bexley alone in a car seat on a dark Jacksonville Beach road, shaking and asking about her dad.Prosecutors opened Monday in a Duval County courtroom by calling the killing a targeted ambush. Mario Fernandez Saldana, a former Army drill sergeant who married Bridegan's ex-wife Shanna Gardner, is the first of three defendants to face a jury. He sat listening to the evidence without visible expression.Assistant State Attorney Christina Simak Stifler told the jury Fernandez recruited a man named Henry Tenon for the job. GPS data from a vehicle linked to Tenon showed two trips along Bridegan's exact route before the murder on February 16, 2022. A dark blue Ford F-150 with a tire in its bed was seen near the road an hour before the shooting.Stifler explained the motive: a family trust. Gardner's parents founded Stampin' Up!, a company generating hundreds of millions in annual revenue. An irrevocable trust blocked Gardner from becoming trustee while she had legal entanglements with Bridegan. As long as he was alive fighting for custody of their twins, she couldn't touch the money. After Bridegan was dead, ten thousand dollars in checks from a company funded through the trust were deposited into accounts linked to Tenon. Phone records show thirty-five calls between Fernandez and Tenon in February 2022 alone.Defense attorney James Hill pushed back. No eyewitness places Fernandez at the scene. No DNA ties him to the road. Checks the prosecution calls payment for murder carry memo lines reading landscaping and roof upkeep.Bridegan's wife Kirsten took the stand and told the jury she knew who was responsible before police named a suspect. Bexley described the shooting in her own words: Boom, Boom, Boom, Daddy on the ground.Three defendants face separate trials for one murder. Gardner's trial starts in September with Jose Baez as her attorney. Linda Scarpa grew up loving her father. The rest of the world knew him as one of the most feared men in organized crime. As the daughter of notorious Colombo crime family hit man and FBI informant Gregory Scarpa Sr., Linda lived a life few could imagine. Behind closed doors, she knew him as a devoted father and family man. Outside the home, he was a violent enforcer whose actions left a trail of fear, bloodshed, and unanswered questions. Reconciling those two realities has shaped Linda's entire life. Linda shares her extraordinary story in The Mafia Hit Man's Daughter, co-written with Linda Rosencrance. More than a true-crime memoir, the book explores the emotional cost of growing up in the shadow of organized crime. It is a deeply personal story about family loyalty, betrayal, love, loss, identity, honor, and the lifelong struggle to separate the man she loved as her father from the man the world feared. Her story extends far beyond the pages of her book. Linda has appeared on I Married a Mobster in the popular two-part episode "Daddy's Girl," and has been featured on programs including The Joy Behar Show, The Ricky Lake Show, Mafia Women with Trevor McDonald, and Evil Lives Here. Her life has also been profiled by major media outlets including Newsweek, New York Post, Daily Mail, News Corp Australia, Men's Journal, and numerous other publications. In this episode of The Suffering Podcast, Linda opens up about what it was really like to grow up as the daughter of one of America's most infamous mob figures. This conversation goes beyond organized crime, revealing the emotional weight of loving someone capable of unimaginable violence and the lasting impact that family secrets, trauma, and unconditional love can leave on a person's life. Ah, Ladies of London: it was a cult classic that came and went, was largely ignored, eventually rebooted, and promptly canned again. Basically, it's a perfect subject for The Housewives Archives. This week we discuss etiquette, "British humor", gays on Bravo, being "creepy", pink walkie-talkies, The Tragedie of Martha and Daddy's Fez, and Alex McCord.LoL discussion: 15:30ishInstagram.com/HousewivesArchives
