It is a 40-minute session during which you are administered a customized blend of vitamins intravenously, right into your bloodstream. The advantage of getting your vitamins this way is that the digestive tract is bypassed in order for you to absorb 100% of what you are getting, you are receiving the vitamins directly, and are able to get much higher doses of the vitamins than you would ever be able to get otherwise. Did you know that 1 of 3 people have a digestive compromise? This means that even if you are eating a great diet or taking all of your vitamins, you might not actually be digesting and absorbing everything. As an operations coach and workflow expert with more than 10 years of engineering experience, Domonique is able to help moms manage their work and raise a family without compromising their sanity or goals. Alexis and her friend Corbin decided to build a business that would help people overcoming homelessness and other challenging circumstances. The result was Unlocked (recently rebranded under the name Resera), an ethical jewelry brand that employs and empowers women survivors overcoming homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration and forced relocation. Alexis is an Ingram Scholar alumna who graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2018, and she’s passionate about using her leadership to increase opportunity and elevate the voices of marginalized women. Bayley has spent the last year going from doctor to doctor, struggling with her health immensely, searching for an answer. After being misdiagnosed with Lymes disease, along with other misdiagnoses, her weekly routine suddenly consisted of taking 30+ supplements a day, having her blood filtered out of her, cleaned, and filtered back in regularly, IVs every other day, and so many more invasive treatments. She was unable to eat most foods, and had a whole host of other symptoms. After seeing over 20 doctors, she decided to take her health into her own hands and reclaim her power. Bayley says "I’m becoming my own healer and becoming the best and highest version of me, so I can spread light and create a ripple of love. I want to help others find their light so they can spread it. “Be the medicine that helps other heal themselves” has been a huge motivation for me... Instead of looking out, look in!" We moved out of our home in Kenya to come back to America on an American Repatriation flight in the era of COVID-19. Day 1 back in Northern California, Cera learned how to weed whack - then woke up at night to a tick biting her thigh. She squeezed and killed it and woke up Matthew, who claimed that the tick was already dead. He did not believe that she had actually been bitten by a live tick. So the arguments started. When we argue - we always both think we're right. We BOTH have experiences and simply saw it differently. And we ALWAYS think our own experiences are the right ones and our partner just experienced it wrong! In this case, we'll never know who was truly right - but we both are 100% sure we are each right and the other is wrong.ABOUT USCERA graduated from UCLA with a degree in International Development and Entrepreneurship in 2018, after living in Los Angeles for eight years. She grew up in rural Kenya and at the age of nine, she lost her childhood home to civil war. That forced her to move to a Nairobi ghetto, where she experienced a different kind of poverty. This experience shaped her mission. She returned to Kenya to start Ecodunia, a social enterprise that makes a difference in the lives of the poor by creating work opportunities and educating girls from under-priviledged communities. Ecodunia is not only driven by profit, but with a mission to lift people out of generational poverty, while making beautiful, useful and sustainable products.MATTHEW started his career as an accidental filmmaker. He wrote a “practice script,”  hoping one day he could write one that he could sell or produce. That script became his first film, “Senses of Place,” which went on to win awards on the film festival circuit and was distributed by FilmBuff. Matthew then moved to Hollywood where he eventually made nine feature films, eight documentaries, and worked with actors Carrie-Anne Moss, Zac Efron, Edi Gathegi, Melora Hardin and many more. He worked with producers Kevin Costner, Bill Borden – Academy Award winner Francis Ford Coppola and Oscar-nominated director Mike Johnson. He has even shared the screen with Josh Brolin, Neil Patrick Harris, Kane Hodder, Naveen Andrews, and many more.Last year, he released the documentary film, “Hardball: The Girls of Summer.” Currently, he lives between California and East Africa, writing and developing new projects, while consulting on film and TV projects. Visit his website to see his work – or check him out on IMDb.com

Guest Expert on this Episode of the THT Podcast - Debra Walker Here's a few words from Debra: My personal interest in high energy natural health, quality nutrition, optimising the mind, optimal health, raw vegan foods, and nature cure, has developed over the past 20 years due to having ME in my 20’s for 7 years, having Lymes Disease in my late 30’s, and kidney infections in my 40’s, this led to me training to be a naturopathic nutritionist. I discovered how the body has the natural ability to heal itself and it never fails to amaze me. Over the past 20+ years, I have gained a number of qualifications also using energy medicine, astonishing me continually with the changes myself personally, and people can rapidly make when using them. I use all of my techniques daily to give me the health and life that I choose to live, and I enjoy walking my talk, so you can rest assured that when I give advice I have done it myself! My personal philosophy with natural health is aligned with the ancient Chinese adage: ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’ I will give you my toolbox, and enable you to understand it so that you become responsible for your own health. In the words of Robert Allen “I encourage you to teach others to fish for themselves, to be self-reliant, to be independent instead of dependent, to be master of his or her own fate. It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give anyone.” I believe that simple things can create great change.

This episode of the Somewhat Frank Podcast, Frank Gruber talks with John Guidos about the current state of affairs with the recent Coronavirus pandemic.  The guys also chat about how to stay positive during times of isolation and suggest to listeners that sometimes it is best to remember to breathe. The discussion was loosely based on the latest newsletter which is shared below. March has come in like a lion. I don’t think anyone expected to see what’s happened in the last few weeks across the globe with the Coronavirus pandemic. It’s been a surreal, unprecedented experience (at least in my time on Earth). While the information is coming in hotter than a Las Vegas summer day, it’s hard not to keep your eyes off of it. That’s why it’s important to take a step back and remember to breathe (while keeping an adequate social distance, of course). That said, if you’re able to, I hope you can work from home for the next couple of weeks. Why? It’s the responsible thing to do. The quick of it is, there are not enough hospital beds to handle the worst-case scenario that this virus can bring. So the best thing to do is to slow the burn and in doing so allow our health professionals a chance to help those that get sick. There’s a great article by Vox that explains the importance of flattening the curve and we can learn a lot about how Tawain has handled the virus in their country. Ok, be safe out there, and please social distance. And as Fred Roger’s would have said in hard situations like this, “always look for the helpers.” Speaking of helpers, a bunch of entrepreneurs & techies worked 24×7 to turn volunteering app VOMO into something everyone & every org can use for free to help out during COVID-19 as it’s more important than ever to be a good neighbor.  ICYMI This past week we hosted our first virtual pitch competition to replace our SXSW event which was supposed to take place on March 14th. Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with a beautiful poem from a good friend. And I’m a big fan of good poetry, especially poems that have been written in the furnace of affliction. I have a friend like that. Her name is Lisa Marie and honestly, she is such an inspiration to me. When Lisa was around 12 or 13 years old, she started suffering from unusual achiness in her joints; she was always seemed tired and listless. Her parents took her to one doctor after the next, but they never got a clear diagnosis. The achiness and tiredness turned into exacerbating pain, and an overwhelming weariness. Brain fog and super-sensitivity to light and sound eventually drove her indoors when she would spend long periods in bed. Finally, it was determined that Lisa Marie was dealing with an unusual form of Lyme’s disease, among other autoimmune disorders. But as her body declined, her heart inclined to God. Her young faith took a beating, but her disease could not defeat her. At the age of 20, Lisa Marie became bedridden. It’s not what any young girl would want, and Lisa Marie kept praying and hoping that things would get better; that they would come up with a treatment for this strange Lyme’s disease gone crazy that relegated her to one room in her house, and a dark room at that, given her sensitivity to light. Get this – that was 20 years ago. And now Lisa Marie is more than 40 years old and she is still in the same situation, living daily with pain that most medications just can’t reach. Yes, and she is still in her bedroom, spending most of her time in the dark. Lisa Marie wears sunglasses when she works on her computer and so this valiant woman is able to write inspirational poems and she posts them on our private pain pal page. Not only that, she prays regularly for each of us in our pain, interceding with great empathy and bolstering our spirits with comforting scriptures. She wrote a poem recently that touched me so much—touched all the “Pals”; I just had to read it for you. She calls it “Cup of Anguish.” And it goes: “Sometimes it all seems too much, This overflowing anguished cup. I say, “I can’t. I’m not this tough.” But then I see upon that tree, The Man of Sorrows slain for me – Unshakable even to death. And though my strength has nothing left, I feel a deep, steadying Breath. For a sacrifice so infinite, May my gratitude be evident. In Your strength, I know I can. So, precious Lord, with all I am. I surrender to Your perfect plan.” Right underneath her poem, Lisa Marie wrote Psalm 119, verse 143, “Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me; yet Your commandments are my delights.” Well, I think you can tell Lisa finds the Word of God her biggest delight; it’s what sustains her day in and day out as she lies on her bed. Hebrews tells us to encourage one another daily, and that’s what I hope Lisa’s story has done for you. If you are troubled and you feel as though anguish has taken over, remember the power and protection, even the delight that is found in the word of God. Because if the Bible, as well as God’s grace, can sustain Lisa Marie, on her bed for some 20 years, He can be your help. By the way, if you’d like a copy of Lisa Marie’s poem called “Cup of Anguish,” just download it off of my radio page at joniradio.org. Or for a hard copy, write to Joni and Friends, P.O. Box 3333, Agoura Hills California, 91376. God bless you today and thanks for listening at Joni and Friends. By: Joni Eareckson Tada © Joni and Friends

New Integrity Music artist Alisa Turner is no stranger to tragedy. She lost her worship leader Dad to a sudden heart attack when she was a 20-year old aspiring Nashville singer-songwriter, was bedridden for six years with Lymes Disease, and lost her infant son, London, 71 minutes after he was born. Yet, her heart looms large with love for God, worship, and others, and her laughter and smiles are truly infectious. In this deeply personal episode, John Chisum and Alisa dig into how she has managed to stay not only positive, but outright effervescent in the face of such losses and offer to the world an endless sense of hope despite the pain. Her worship is deep and the solid biblical foundations of her life support the profound and powerful messages in her songs. The Integrity Music Press Release says of Turner, “Worship artist Alisa Turner sings with passion and vulnerability. Her songs capture something almost mystical, yet deeply rooted in the hard stuff of the “now and not yet” grit of the everyday. It’s the lilt and innocence in her voice and the heartbreaking, but hopeful truth of her story. That story is inextricably woven throughout her self-titled EP (Integrity Music) in a tapestry of grief, suffering, hope and redemption for which there is only one appropriate response: unfettered, unfiltered worship.” An independent artist for over a decade, Alisa’s debut self-titled album produced by Michael Farren is available now as pre-sale and for downloads August 25th. In this episode, John and Alisa enjoy a candid, warm, and often funny conversation as they talk about: Hot chocolate on hot days (she’s obviously a “choco-holic”) Co-writing with high level songwriters like Word Music writer Tony Wood (29 #1 songs and counting), James Galbraith, Jessica Campbell, and Michael Farren How authentic ministry comes from tremendous tragedy and loss and how to craft songs even in the sorrow What it’s like to be “discovered” as an independent artist and find herself signed to Integrity Music Insights into her songwriting process, melody writing, and co-writing (and why she always takes food to cowrites!) “There’s a lot more going on here than just cells floating around in my body. My mind has a lot more to do with it than I believe.” Frank started college just like any other student. He was outgoing, social, and identified himself as an athlete. But that all changed in his second semester when he got diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Used to peak fitness and endless physical energy, Frank started to experience intense stomach pains and blood in his stools - on a daily basis. Sport became painful and Frank’s social life dried up because he never wanted to be far from a toilet. After 18 months of declining health, Frank put his trust in the doctors and agreed to have his colon removed. This involved major surgery and a length recovery process. Frank felt better for a few months, then the pain started all over again. In this episode, Frank tells his story of finding positivity amongst this chaos. He shares how he was able to learn from his dwindling health to take control of his life and find a way to be of service to others. “I was going to get advice from everyone and filter that through my own decision-making system. But ultimately, it wasn’t going to be someone else making the decision for me… It was going to be me interviewing, learning and reviewing all this information.” After traditional medicine failed to provide answers, Frank became the CEO of his own health - a decision that opened the door to an intense journey of spiritual and personal development. Frank learned to see his physical condition through a broader lens. He realized the problem wasn’t just in his physical body - it was connected to his emotions and mindset too. He learned that overall wellness and human optimization is a combination or emotional, spiritual, and physical pillars. Neglect one of these and it create a dis-ease state in another part of your body. It’s what makes this episode so fascinating. This podcast is more than a journey back to health. It’s also shows how you can keep control and influence - even when you feel your life is held back by factors outside of your control. So tune into this episode and listen to an incredible conversation about health, happiness, business, and the role your everyday decisions and habits play in creating a life that’s fulfilling - regardless of your circumstances. Jim Goetz Dr. Mike Brandon Chantea Goetz   The big announcement is that our BiohackHumans website now has an Insiders Only Section. Be the first to see world class workout programs, high quality recipes, videos, how Dr. Mike Brandon lost 30 lbs in 5 days step by step and m uch much more!!!!    New Theories Behind The Real Cause of Lymes Disease and Possible Natural Treatments Jim Goetz   Since the 1970's in the town of Lymes, Connecticut, individuals have been coming down with a mysterious illness diagnosed as many things. The symptoms are pretty much the same. They include: fatigue, muscle pain, weakness, twitching, spasms, restless leg syndrome, mental fog, joint pain, swelling, and tingling in the extremities. (These symptoms sounds seriously like every night after my three times per day workouts). Because of the grouping of symptoms, health officials believed they needed to find the cause of this new "disease". A few years later, an individual who had these symptoms stated they reported having a tick on them a few weeks prior to the symptoms occurring. Researchers found this specific type of tick to carry the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi and "hallejuia" an answer was found (though it was based on mere observation). Lymes has traditionally been treated by using a very large dose full spectrum anti-biotic. Patients often get better at first giving doctors the impression that the drugs are working. This is called a Herxheimer reaction. That is symptoms reverse. Now with this dose of antibiotics, your body is also losing beneficial bacteria that your body needs to function and yes, even think. Unfortunately antibiotics at times casue viruses to strengthen. In this case, this is true.  Recently there has been some speculation that Lymes disease is also caused by other bacteria such as Bartonella or parasites such as Babesia. None of these however or Borrelia actually seem to be responsible for the actual symptoms of Lymes disease. Someone may test positive for one of these bacteria or parasites and have Lymes disease but this again may only be another observational study and the two may have nothing to do with another. This is like someone observing an individual with a cold having eaten a pizza just the day prior and no other foods. Therefore colds must be caused by pizza. This simply is not the truth.  The symptoms of Lymes disease are the same as those who have Epstein-Barr, HHV-6 and it's varous strains. Some also test positive for cytomegalo virus. These are all viruses!!! Exactly!!!!! Lymes disease may actually be a virus that most of us have that is actually triggered by events in life.  All of these items in some way or another lower ones immune response. As a result, a dormant virus can take over. These possible causes include (but not limited to: -mold -mercury based dental mamlgam fillings -mercury in general -emotional events such as the loss of a loved one or traumatic event -bites or stings -virus enabling prescripton medications (see benzodiazepines) -overprescribed medications -recreational drug abuse -overly stressful chronic situations such as finances -lack of sleep -poor nutrition -chemicals in ones environment such as carpets or carpet cleaning products, paint, etc. -runoff -swimming (chlorine is highly toxic in pools as are red algae blooms in the ocean)   Some natural treatments include but are not limited to: -thyme (kills viruses on contact). I often use this in a diffuser and breathe it in the room, especially in fall and winter. I have no proof it works but know I do not get sick often. -lemon balm (kills co-factors of viruses). It's also naturally soothing and used in many good bed time/ relaxation formuals. -zinc (lowers inflammation and may raise immune levels) If you put a zinc losenger in your mouth though and it tastes highly metallic, your zinc levels may already be normal and therefore risk toxicity. -licorice root (impairs viral movement and ability to reproduce) -L-lysine (same as licorice root). However, L-lysine is used during herpes outbreaks as it appears to be directly inverse to L-Arginine, a vasodialator. L- Arginine and foods containing this amino acid are to be avoided during times of outbreaks. -Lomatium root (removes pathogens from the body). -reishi mushrooms (increases lymphocytes, and neutrophils, which are white blood cells responsible for immune function). -silver hydrosol (kills viruses on contact) -astaxanthin (restores neurological function) This is found in krill supplements and Green Vibrance. Both area a staple in the diet of the madscientist himself. -nascent iodine (strengthens the encocrine system)   Swing Away Depression and Anxiety Dr. Mike Brandon Jumping on a trampoline, swinging in the park, running in circles, and rolling down hills may sound like a day's summer schedule for a child, but what about as a way to help combat depression, anxiety, and memory deficits in us all. Our body's vestibular system is what helps us with our balance and equilibrium and allows us to do things like walking and standing upright, standing on one leg, walk across a tight rope etc. The majority of this system is small structures buried within our ears which works with our eyes and specific regions of our brain. It gets strengthened via body and head movements like rolling, jumping, spinning, and so forth. We rarely think about it unless there's an issue like becoming dizzy or losing balance, but clearly this system is important for us. Could you imagine trying to go through a day without being able to walk 10 feet without falling to the side? Science has found however that having a healthy balancing system may also help with stress, anxiety and depression. It appears that having vestibular dysfunction, like dizziness or vertigo, can cause increased anxiety and stress, and even the reverse with having excess stress or anxiety disorders could cause dizziness or vertigo. So clearly they are related, but why does that matter? There was a study that took college students and gave them “swing time” every day, meaning they literally went to a park, sat on a swing and swung back and forth for a while. This caused all participants to have a positive change on their emotional state with depression, stress, and anxiety. This led me to think about children and the importance of recess. Its been over the news the past few years when it was shown that increased play time increased academic performance. This could be a big part as to why. Children's brains are still developing, so having kids “just be kids” and run, roll, and jump, is quite important so they have a better chance at staying happy and coping with the stress that inevitably arises in life. Currently, kids don't play as much as they used to due to tv, video games, and similar activities, so their vestibular system which is linked to strong emotional control and satisfaction may not get fully developed. Add to that then how most of us as adults live rather sedentary lives and sit most of the day, so we aren't strengthening our equilibrium and balance systems either. The good news is, that it appears that even as adults we can help ourselves by “just being a kid”.  So maybe I wouldn't advice grandpa to go hop on a merry-go-round or start doing flips on the trampoline, but gently rocking in a chair or standing on a wobble board for a while may help his occasional panic attacks or make him smile a bit more. It shouldn't be surprising then that most people enjoy things such as swinging and spinning. Everybody wants to stay young, and though we have yet to biohack a secret for that, there's clearly benefits by following a child's example in this case. So go make yourself a little dizzy, a little happy, and as always, BioHack on!   References: Dalton, S. (2016, May 11). Youth Fitness: Exercise Helps Children Excel in School. In this episode, John and Alisa enjoy a candid, warm, and often funny conversation as they talk about: Hot chocolate on hot days (she’s obviously a “choco-holic”) Co-writing with high level songwriters like Word Music writer Tony Wood (29 #1 songs and counting), James Galbraith, Jessica Campbell, and Michael Farren How authentic ministry comes from tremendous tragedy and loss and how to craft songs even in the sorrow What it’s like to be “discovered” as an independent artist and find herself signed to Integrity Music Insights into her songwriting process, melody writing, and co-writing (and why she always takes food to cowrites!) How she thinks about writing melodies to words on the page Why she’s excited about gearing up for her radio concert tour with Greg Sykes And more...
