I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties above the fruit America is back. Yes, sir. Welcome back to the program. We appreciate you tuning in this afternoon, especially with all the winning that president Trump has done over the past couple of days. Let's go to Gene in great court. Gene, what do you think about president Trump? Charlie, I'm gonna ask you to start a movement here on your program with all of Charlie Champs. Okay. And that is we need to petition the Norwegian parliament to declare Donald Trump the next Nobel Peace Laureate. Yeah. He has done much to stabilize the world, to give the world clarity of direction and stability. Yeah. No question about it. And that includes the accomplishments of his, 40, fifth term, Charlie. Now, on the other hand, if they won't do it, then we have to demand that Barack Obama go on a special Oprah Winfrey show and return the Nobel Prize that they gave to him to say this rightfully belongs to Donald j Trump because I did nothing. You're exactly right. That that guy did nothing, got the Nobel Peace Prize. I appreciate it. Thank you, Jean. Man, I would kill to get a Nobel Peace Prize. Let's go to Tom in, Anderson and talk to him. Tom, welcome. Hey, Charlie. How are you today? Doing good. What's up, man? Well, I wanted to comment on the pharmaceutical price reduction. Yeah. It wasn't that many years ago that I recall that you could basically deal with some companies out of Canada. You could buy a drug manufactured here in The United States that was sold to Canada, and then in turn, somebody in Canada could sell it back to you Yeah. For half the price that you would pay if you bought it here. Yeah. And they're still making money, which you think to yourself so, basically, they're just, like, taking huge advantage of their own countrymen while but somehow, Canada's able to buy it so that it's cheaper. Reduce the price in half and still make dollars off of it. Yeah. The last time I got something, I I think they had sent it to Zimbabwe or something. Yeah. Right. And so they ship it all around the the world, and somehow it comes back to me at the half the price that I would pay if I went down to my local pharmacy and bought it. Yeah. And you're going Yep. This is insane. It really is. I'm glad he took care of that. I am too. I am too, Tom. I appreciate it. In fact, there's so many do you know I mean, like like, ivermectin? You know, in Mexico, that's over the counter. You you can go in and get ivermectin like you can get ibuprofen. Not here. Not here. But thanks to our FDA and the USDA, they got those restrictions on those. Well, we remember last week that a bunch of Democrats showed up at a an ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. Remember that? And, oh, boy, and they caused a ruckus while they were there. Well, they might actually be paying the price for that ruckus. The Trump administration is warning there could be more arrests after three house Democrats attempted to push through ICE agents and enter a New Jersey immigration detention center on Friday. He just told me those lawmakers have oversight capacity. DHS had said, hey. You know, we would have let them in with proper channels, but instead, you saw that play out. Those Democrats, though, they're insisting they are the victims. That's right. They're always the victim. Now federal law enforcement exists to uphold the law. That's what they're supposed to do. They're not supposed to be there to be props for political stunts. They staged an unannounced inspection, quote, unquote, at a fully permitted ICE facility operating under a $1,000,000,000 contract with the GEO Group, then they cried foul when all their grandstanding collided with security protocols. This week on Talk World Radio we're talking about making peace in place of the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. Mairead (Corrigan) Maguire is a Member of the Advisory Board of World BEYOND War. She is based in Northern Ireland. Mairead is a Nobel Peace Laureate and Co-founder of Peace People – Northern Ireland 1976. Mairead was born in 1944, into a family of eight children in West Belfast. At 14 she became a volunteer with a grass-roots lay organization and began in her free time to work in her local community. Mairead's volunteerism, gave her the opportunity to work with families, helping to set up the first centre for disabled children, day care and youth centres for training local youth in peaceful community service. When Internment was introduced by the British Government in 1971, Mairead and her companions visited Long Kesh Internment camp to visit prisoners and their families, who were suffering deeply from many forms of violence. Mairead, was the aunt of the three Maguire children who died, in August, 1976, as a result of being hit by an IRA getaway car after its driver was shot by a British soldier. Mairead (a pacifist) responded to the violence facing her family and community by organizing, together with Betty Williams and Ciaran McKeown, massive peace demonstrations appealing for an end to the bloodshed, and a nonviolent solution to the conflict. Together, the three co-founded the Peace People, a movement committed to building a just and nonviolent society in Northern Ireland. The Peace People organized each week, for six months, peace rallies throughout Ireland and the UK. These were attended by many thousands of people, and during this time there was a 70% decrease in the rate of violence. In 1976 Mairead, together with Betty Williams, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their actions to help bring about peace and put an end to the violence arising out of the ethnic/political conflict in their native Northern Ireland. Since receiving the Nobel Peace prize Mairead has continued to work to promote dialogue, peace and disarmament both in Northern Ireland and around the world. Mairead has visited many countries, including, USA, Russia, Palestine, North/South Korea, Afghanistan, Gaza, Iran, Syria, Congo, Iraq.

She was awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize for this work, making her the first Yemeni, the first Arab woman, and the second Muslim woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize, as well as the youngest Nobel Peace Laureate at the time, at the age of 32. Tawakkol is just one of the many women that have been at the forefront of this revolution, peacefully leading the path to freedom and democracy. Yemen is in the middle of one of the worst humanitarian crises of modern times which stems from the counter-revolution to the Arab Spring, waged by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Iran. Despite this, Tawakkol remains hopeful for the future of her country and the region, asserting that Yemeni people will continue their peaceful resistance until they “reach to the destiny of democracy.” Some topics we cover include: What Yemen was like in the years leading up to the Arab Spring, and the progress that has been made since Tawakkol's pivotal role in the movement as a journalist who exposed human rights abuses and mobilized weekly demonstrations against the government Her arrest for this work, and how it had the opposite effect of what the government intended The counter revolution led by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Iran - and how it led to one of the worse humanitarian crises of modern times Women's pivotal role in the Arab Spring uprisings, and the ongoing revolution What makes Tawakkol proud to be a woman, and to be Yemeni What keeps Tawakkol hopeful for the future of her country and the region Transcription is available here Changemakers: How women make change happen This is the first episode of the new Changemakers series which explores how women make change happen from those at the top helping to drive it. Each episode, we look at where we are on this long march to equality, what lies ahead, and how important you are in the fight. In this 14-episode series, we'll hear from Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman, Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, and Afghanistan's youngest ever female mayor Zarifa Ghafari, among others. Thirty years ago, Al Gore took office as Vice President of the United States. Over the intervening period, he has lost a campaign for President and reinvented himself as the Nobel Peace Laureate-branded conscience of the climate movement. But years removed from his film An Inconvenient Truth and with countries like Germany following his environmentalist policy prescriptions, has Gore's vision borne out? Rima Fujita was born in Tokyo and now resides in Southern California. She graduated from Parsons School of Design with her B.F.A. and has exhibited her work internationally to much acclaim. As a descendant of the Last Samurai her creative aesthetics is strongly influenced by the philosophy of Bushido and Buddhism. Known for her distinctive style with vivid colors on black surface, Rima's works are extracted from her dreams and meditation process. They are ethereal and evoke a timeless sense of longing and peace, and yet if examined deeply her images trigger a powerful ripple of infinite emotions. She is inspired by “Nibiiro,” an expression of a very dark grey color from the Heian period in Japan (AD 794 to1185). If you mixed all colors that exist in Nirvana, the Buddhist land of Perfect Bliss, it would become “Nibiiro.” Rima's life passion lays in her philanthropic work. In 2001 she established “Books for Children,” an organization that produces children's books and donates them to children in needs around the world. She has created 4 children's books and has donated more than 12,000 books to the Tibetan children in exile. All profits go to support the Tibetan children's education. H.H. The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu and Betty Williams, the Nobel Peace Laureates personally gave her special recognition in 2006 at the International Peace Summit in Japan. Peter Meisen heads the World Energy commission of the World Citizen Government founded by Garry Davis. The inspiration for his life's work came from meeting the visionary engineer Buckminster Fuller and reading his seminal book “Critical Path.” Dr. Fuller created the global gaming simulation, The World Game – “to make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous cooperation without ecological damage or disadvantage to anyone.” Peter launched the Global Energy Network Initiative (GENI) to promote linking renewable energy resource around the world. The GENI initiative has earned the endorsements of 7 Nobel Peace Laureates, and newsman Walter Cronkite calling it “the best solution to peace and sustainable development he's seen.” After 30 years, the world has now embraced this solution, just far too slowly. He developed The SIMCenter, a surround visualization tool, like a Mission Control Room, that enables collective understanding and dialogue. He's helping to create many SIMCenters in partnership with universities and city leadership -- to help City leaders deal with complex, interconnected problems, highlighting need options and strategies. -- See the video at: PeoplePoweredPlanet.com -- Music by: „World Citizen“ Jahcoustix feat. Ideal Peacebuilding The ideal peacebuilding model is context-specific. It heavily relies on grassroots peacebuilding efforts by the local community to address specific causes of violence. It also relies on outsiders using the traditional top-down approach to connect with government officials, elites, rebel leaders, and other power players. These responses should be led by locals with knowledge and supported by outsiders with resources. Communities must make the decisions that impact themselves, instead of outsider interveners. Bottom-Up Peacebuilding Bottom-up peacebuilding is a way to end conflict that focuses on identifying the roots causes of violence in a specific community, and addressing them directly. It engages all participants to reach long-lasting solutions to distinct and sometimes unrelated issues, resolve disputes through mediation, and work with outside organizations to help fund grassroots operations. Bottom-up peacebuilding has often succeeded where top-down peacebuilding efforts have failed. Peace, Inc. Peace, Inc. refers to the standard worldwide system of intervention and peacebuilding, also known as top-down peacebuilding. It focuses on brokering deals between elites, leaders, diplomats, and other high-level players, while ignoring the communities that are directly affected by conflict. It treats outsiders as experts and relegates locals to an inferior status. While outside intervention can bring expertise and resources to war-torn areas, Peace, Inc. tactics are often practically ineffective and can even result in harm. Referred to by his fans as “the Artist for the People”, Phil Hansen is an internationally recognized multimedia artist, speaker, author and innovator -- at the forefront of bringing art to a wider audience. Crashing irreverently through conventional boundaries, Phil works at the intersection of traditional art, electronic media, offbeat materials, and interactive experiences. He is most widely known for his meta-art, videos that document the creation process (sometimes even through destruction), showing millions that art is action, not just result. Hansen’s work also extends deeply into traditional media with features on the Discovery Channel, Good Morning America, the Rachael Ray Show, and Last Call with Carson Daly, Glamour and many more. His work is sought-after by many influential clients including the Grammy Awards, Disney, Skype, Mazda and the Rockefeller Foundation. For the tens of millions who have seen Phil’s art on TV and online, it’s hard to imagine that his artistic journey nearly came to an end when a tremor developed in his drawing hand. In exploring new ways to create art, Phil discovered that by embracing his shake, limitations could become the passageway to creativity. His inspirational story was first shared on the TED stage to a standing ovation, and then shared around the world including on PBS, BBC and CCTV. Now, Phil’s ability to draw parallels to the business setting has won him followers among industry and business leaders, leading to invitations to speak at the TED2013 conference, Adobe MAX Creativity Conference, World 2Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, and the Million Dollar Round Table. “Phil’s message of self-reinvention and the power of transforming adversity into opportunity is one that translates well across audiences—regardless of the industry. His message inspires, motivates and reenergizes the creative spirit in us all.” - Ford Motor Company “We need to first be limited in order to become limitless.” - Phil Hansen At the request of some of his speaking clients, Phil has designed a unique art experience beyond the talk. Companies who are seeking an unforgettable interactive experience for their audience are absolutely stunned by its originality, value and effect. "A number of years ago at our sales meeting we had a very expensive performance painter present. I can say that the impact of Phil’s talk with the fingerprint art project provided much more impact and value. Being able to connect all employees to a single work of art is absolutely incredible." - Bethany Quam, General Mills President, Convenience & Foodservice Division Besides speaking and doing art, Phil is an advocate for advancing art education. He’s the author of Tattoo a Banana, a guide to exploring creativity through art with everyday materials. And he’s the founder of Goodbye-Art Academy, providing high quality and free art education videos to teachers and students everywhere. Independent, free now from the constraints of office, with a wealth of experience and the ability to open doors at the highest level, The Elders are helping tackle some of the world's most intractable problems. Brought together by Nelson Mandela in 2007, The Elders use their collective experience and influence to promote peace, justice and human rights worldwide, using private advocacy and public diplomacy. They include the former holders of some of the world's most important and demanding posts, as well as individuals with an extraordinary track record on peace-making, reconciliation and driving social change. To celebrate the group's fifth anniversary, in July 2012 Intelligence Squared hosted three of the Elders on stage in London at the Barbican Centre. We were joined by Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter, the first female president of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, and Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town, Nobel Peace Laureate, and Chair of The Elders Desmond Tutu. Chairman of Virgin Group Richard Branson and Singer and songwriter Peter Gabriel, whose original vision of The Elders was translated into reality by Nelson Mandela, made a special guest appearance at the beginning of this event. It was chaired by Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Finn interviews Peter Gabriel, musician and humanitarian, at Bush Studios, London. When Peter Gabriel was young, his mother taught him how to play the piano. By fourteen, he had his first musical gig, and was on the way to making “noises for a living,” he says. “On a good day, people pay me!” In 1967, he and several of his schoolmates founded the rock band Genesis. Mr. Gabriel sang lead vocals and played the flute, often wearing costumes on stage. Then in 1975, he surprised everyone by leaving Genesis to start a very successful solo music career. His interest in all kinds of music would lead him to singers, songwriters, and musicians far from the United Kingdom. So he and his friends decided to start a music festival featuring musicians from everywhere. Their first WOMAD Festival — World Music, Art and Dance — was held in 1982. Today, WOMAD festivals have been held in over thirty countries. Mr. Gabriel’s interest in world cultures and communities didn’t stop with a music and arts festival. He was talking one day with Richard Branson about how the oldest members of a community are often the ones who guide the group and help resolve disputes. This led to a question. Could the wise older members of our “global village” work with conflicts and major problems? They took their idea to several of those world leaders, including Nelson Mandela. Mr. Mandela brought together other leaders. In 2007, The Elders was born. Today the ten-member group includes honorary Elders Bishop Desmond Tutu and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Musicians often make online videos and use technology to promote their work. Mr. Gabriel started WITNESS, an organization that trains human rights activists how to use video and other internet technology to expose human rights abuses. In 2006, he was given the Man of Peace award by the Nobel Peace Laureates for this, and his other human rights, work. But Mr. Gabriel’s humanitarian interests don’t stop with his fellow human beings. During a visit to the Language Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia, he was accompanied musically by Kanzi, a bonobo, at his own keyboard. Kanzi, and his sister Panbanisha, learned to communicate in English, using symbols on a language keyboard. Kanzi now lives in the Iowa Primate Learning Sanctuary. What was it like to work with a great ape on keyboards? It was “almost like meeting your ancestors and playing music with them!”
Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille, has expressed her disappointment after the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates was suspended.
Former President FW de Klerk, who received a Nobel Peace Prize together with late President Nelson Mandela in 1993, has lashed out at government after the suspension of the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace laureates in Cape Town.
For a third consecutive time, South Africa has made it clear to the Tibetan spiritual leader The Dalai Lama that he is not welcome to visit. Most recently, the DL was informed he would not receive a visa, forcing the controversial religious leader to cancel his visit to attend the upcoming World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in October. Although Pretoria officially denies that it is singling out The Dalai Lama, it's universally accepted the government is not interested in antagonizing China, its larger trading partner. Furthermore, South Africa is not alone as China leverages its expanding influence to further isolate The Dalai Lama, making it increasingly difficult for him to find an audience abroad.

Southwest Airlines has launched a sustainability initiative called “LUV Seat: Repurpose with Purpose” to upcycle leather seat coverings, keeping them out of landfills, so as to create opportunities for people in Kenya. The pilot project began with 43 acres of leather seating materials and works in partnership with local nonprofits. Readers can comment on Facebook with the hashtag #LUVSeat, Marilee McInnis, a Southwest Airlines Spokesperson, noted: In Nairobi, Kenya (the project’s pilot location), SOS Children’s Villages Kenya, the primary non-profit partner that serves orphaned children and families in need, along with Alive & Kicking, Masaai Treads, and Life Beads Kenya, will use the leather to produce goods for distribution to local community groups.
