In this episode, I sit down with Jennifer Garcia Bashaw and Aaron Higashi, authors of Serving Up Scripture, to talk about what responsible interpretation looks like, why certainty works against it, and how the same passages have been used both to enslave and to liberate. Questions and Answers: How is the Church Like a Body? Taylor Brown Download Audio Transcript 00:36Please turn your Bibles to 1 Corinthians 12, verses 12-31. 1 Corinthians 12, verses 12-31. Isn't it frustrating to witness someone not do his or her job correctly? Maybe you have an employee or a direct report who constantly comes late, makes excuses, or has a suspicious number of grandparents that he has funerals he has to attend.01:06How many grandparents do you actually have? You hire a contractor to carry out a project in your house and he makes huge mistakes. And he acts very inconvenient when you come, when you ask him to come back and fix those mistakes. Your waitress has a horrible attitude and never checks on your table because she is constantly texting. You know what's even more frustrating than that? Witnessing or experiencing someone else.01:36not allow others to do their jobs correctly. You watch your favorite team lose yet again because one key player can't get his act together and he messes it up for everybody. You have a boss who is an expert in incompetence. He expects everyone to do their jobs as well as his job. You have a co-worker who makes your job so hard you can't finish this project at work because she has constantly dragging your feet and she is not communicating with you.02:10And instead of accepting that blame, taking it on herself, she points the finger of blame at you and says that it's your fault.02:19You know what's infinitely more frustrating than all the examples I've given already?02:24Witnessing a Christian refuse to do his or her job in the church.02:30or experiencing another Christian attempt to hinder you from carrying out your job in the church. Instead of contributing to the team, this person backs away, tries to go solo and do his or her own thing. Instead of building others up and encouraging them, they tear others down and diminish them. Wasted potential is a sorry sight to behold. Misused talents are squandered resources.03:02Missed opportunities for ministry are to be grieved. As you learned over the past eight months in 1 Corinthians, the church is commanded to be unified and purified. Unfortunately, this unity is undervalued, ignored, and tested by many who should know better. This purity is jeopardized, abused, and cast aside by many who claim to know and love Jesus Christ.03:30Excuses are made and commitments are unkept. Complaints are spoken instead of genuine praise. Zooming in on me and what I want is far more common than focusing on us and what we need. Am I describing you? Am I describing your contribution to the church?04:00Ask yourself, am I contributing to the unity and purity of Harvest Bible Chapel, or am I subtracting from it? Are you neglecting to do your job in the church? Are you standing in the way of others and making it hard for them to carry out their jobs in the church? Take a moment to go before the Lord and consider those questions.04:32Quiet your heart and ask God to convict you today. Ask God to challenge you today. Ask God to change you today. Go to the Lord in prayer. Father, we come before you as your people for the most important appointment of the week. May we not be distracted. Or may we truly dial in to what what you want to teach us this morning. Lord, may you show us who you've called us to be and what you've commanded us to do. I pray we'd all walk out of this room with a different vision of the church and a different idea of what we are called to do individually in the church. I ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen. We are in the Q&A section of 1 Corinthians. Paul is addressing questions that this congregation asked him in a previous And last week, Pastor Jeff showed us Paul's answer to the Corinthians' question about spiritual gifts. Every single believer is given at least one spiritual gift that is to be used to bless the church and advance the gospel. No one is skipped over. No one is forgotten. No one is left giftless. And these gifts are to unite, not divide.06:00And Paul continues to answer this question in chapter 12, verses 12 through 31, by providing a powerful illustration. He compares the unity of the church body to the unity of a physical human body. Check out what he has to say in verse 12 of chapter 12.06:30So it is with Christ. I'm going to ask you a very easy question, and I'm even going to let you cheat to get the right answer. So everyone, look down and give yourself a quick once-over. Come on, go do it. Are you ready for my question? How many bodies do you have? It's not your question. Just one, you got the answer right. Great job.07:01I'm asking you an easy follow-up question. You can look down again if you have to. How many body parts do you have? Do you have more than one body part? Yes, you have more than one. According to Dr. Google, which is never wrong, you have 78 organs, 206 bones, and 30 to 40 trillion cells. You have individual body parts, legs, feet, toes, toenails, arms, Arms, Hands, Hands, Fingers, Fingernails, Heart, Lungs, Kidney, Stomach, Pancreas, Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, Nose, Nose, Hairs, Mouth, Teeth, Gums, Tongue, Uvula.07:41And on the list goes. Sorry, Pastor Jeff's uvula was swollen this week, and you're talking about it a lot, so I had to add that.07:50He was sick. That was the reason why.07:54But these individual parts do not operate or function independently from one another.08:00Instead, they work together as one body. They serve different roles. They carry out the same mission to keep you alive and kicking. And Paul is saying this truth about your physical body applies to the church body as well. Yes, we all have different roles. We all have different functions. But we do not operate independently from one another. We work together as one body.08:30same mission to lift high the name of Jesus Christ by making disciples.08:37And you may be thinking, hold on a minute.08:39This illustration seems to break down a bit because I've always had my physical body.08:44It's the only one I've got.08:46How did I become a part of the church body?08:48When did that happen?08:50It's a great question.08:52Thankfully, Paul answers it in verse 13.08:55He says, For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Jews or Greeks, slaves or free, and all were made to drink of one Spirit. You realize at one point you didn't exist. There was no you. Then you popped into existence and you grew in your mother's womb. And at one point you were born into this world with your physical But if you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, if you have been saved and given new life in Him, you have experienced more than just one birth. According to God's Word, you've experienced a new birth. And on your spiritual birthday, you were brought into the body of Christ. You became a part of the body of Christ. And this second birth is a work of the Holy Spirit, who Paul That sounds really cool. What in the world does that mean? Baptized in the Holy Spirit. Well, 2,000 years ago, John the Baptist baptized men and women in water as a sign of their repentance. But John was up front. He was very clear that he was not the point. He was not the be-all and end-all. He came to point to someone greater than him. He says, He says, I baptize with water, but He will baptize with the Holy Spirit.10:37Who is this greater person?10:39Who baptizes with the Holy Spirit?10:42Jesus Christ Himself.10:46This has massive implications for my life, your life, and the life of this church body.10:52This means that I, Taylor Samuel Brown, wasn't just baptized in water on July 30, 2000 by Pastor Jesse Boggs at Northgate Church. Yes, that was an important day. That was an important baptism. But I experienced an even more important day, an even more important baptism years prior. Before that, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit by Jesus Christ. I was saved from my sins.11:25I was made into a new person.11:27I was brought into the body of Christ.11:32My water baptism was simply an outward symbol of the salvation I experienced.11:39Of this baptism in the Holy Spirit that I experienced.11:45And Paul even says that I drank of the Holy Spirit.11:50Again, sounds great, but what in the world does that mean? Well, think about it this way. When you drink something, you are filled with that liquid, aren't you? Whether it's water, coffee, wild cherry, Pepsi, or kombucha. When you drink a liquid, you are filled with that liquid. When you drink of the Holy Spirit, you are filled with the Holy Spirit. He lives within you. He takes up residence within you.12:20If you have trusted in Christ, you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. You have been filled with the Holy Spirit. In verse 13, Paul mentions different factors that would divide people back in his day. He mentions ethnicity and social status. In 2026, we live in a world where we are constantly being tried to be ripped apart because of our many differences. We have different backgrounds. We have different skin colors. We come from different financial situations. We have different careers. We have different personalities. We have different temperaments. We are different in so many ways. And as we'll discover soon, that is good news to celebrate. But we are the exact same in the most important ways. We have the same Heavenly Father. We have been redeemed by the same Savior.13:20been changed by the same Holy Spirit. We belong to the same body. Our differences may be great, but our unity in Christ and His Spirit is even greater. So after this long and theologically heavy introduction, you may be thinking, all right, this is all very interesting, but what's the point? I get it. I'm a member of the body of Christ.13:49Now, you need to be encouraged to do your job in the body of Christ. Now, you need to be encouraged to let other people do their jobs in the body of Christ. So on your outline, since I'm a member of the body of Christ, number one, I shouldn't doubt the part I play. I shouldn't doubt the part I play.14:19Some of you in this room and watching online struggle to truly believe that you have an important part to play in the life of this church. You may think to yourself, I mean, sure, this is my church and I'm involved, but if I left, nothing would change. No one would notice. I don't have an upfront role that matters. I don't play an instrument. I don't really matter here. And as one of your pastors, it deeply saddens me that some of you feel that way about you.14:51It deeply saddens me that you believe a lie about yourself instead of believing what God's word says about who you are. You do matter. You do have a part to play at Harvest. This church does need you and it wouldn't be the same without you. And I'm not just saying that to make you feel good. I'm saying that because that's what God's word says. Listen to what Paul says in verses 14 through 17.15:19For the body does not consist of one member, but of many. If the foot should say, because I'm not a hand, I do not belong to the body, that would not make it any less part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?15:49I didn't doubt the part I play. Letter A on your outline, because that denies my purpose. Because that denies my purpose. You claiming that you have no part to play in the body of Christ because you don't have the gifting of another person is as ridiculous as your foot saying, I have no part to play in the body because I'm not a hand. I'll never be able to hammer a nail into the wall. I'll never be able to type on a keyboard, so I just give up.16:18I mean, sure, your hands can't do, your feet can't do what your hands can do. But your hands can't do what your feet can do as well, right? Walking is pretty important, right? Most of you don't agree with that. Walking is really important, right? Your hands can't do that. Okay, good. Man, you are sitting right now, but eventually you will have to get up and walk away.16:45You claiming that you have no part to play in the body of Christ is as insane as your ears saying, I have no part to play in the body because I'll never be able to look at the Grand Canyon. I'll never be able to stare up at a starry night. So I'm just going to tune out and call it a day. I mean, yeah, your eye is important, but your eyes can't do what your ears can do. Without your ears, you wouldn't be able to hear anything. Just imagine if your entire body was just just one feature. Eyes are beautiful, aren't they? I love my wife's eyes the most, and I could stare into her eyes for hours. But imagine if Kate was just a big eyeball and nothing else. There's a big eye bouncing around my house and sleeping in the bed next to me at night. That sounds like the premise of a horror movie. I mean, yeah, I'd still love her because I made a vow to her 12 years ago, but That'd be pretty rough. That'd be hard. A big eye has 20-20 vision, but it can't really do anything else. A big ear has great hearing, but it can't really do much else. Now imagine if every single person in this church had the same exact gifting and function. Would that be productive or disastrous? It would be a total and complete I have been in a room with thousands of preachers before.18:20Imagine if those thousands of preachers tried to carry out the same function in the same church.18:27There would be arguments about who does what.18:29The bills would never get paid.18:31The building would fall in disrepair and probably burn down.18:34Preaching is an essential function of the church, but is not the only function.18:41Some of you men in this room do have a preaching gift.18:44We are so thankful for you. You realize it's very different. It's very unique to have this many guys who can preach a message in a church. That doesn't happen everywhere. God has gifted this church. But others of you guys do not have a preaching gift. And that is not something to be upset about. That is not a bad thing. Not everybody has the gift of preaching. Not everyone has an upfront role.19:14If your part is behind the scenes, it matters. Maybe your part is in the AV booth. Without Mike back there, without all the AV team back there, no one would be able to hear the sermons. I'd just scream at the top of my lungs for you to hear me. Without Ben and Lincoln working on the sermons afterwards, people across the country and across the world wouldn't be able to hear it, which does happen.19:43Maybe your part is being on the prayer team. You show the rest of the body what it looks like to faithfully lift up the needs of the saints to the Lord. Maybe your part is security. You function as the antibodies of the church that keeps the rest of the body safe. Maybe your part is working at Harvest Academy or working as an adult leader in Arrow. You are training up the future generation in Jesus Christ.20:14is leading a small group. You are on the front lines of congregational care and discipleship. Maybe your part is on the relocation and building committee with Pastor Rich and the others. You help formulate the budget. You count on Sundays. I can keep going and going and going. Without a doubt, you do have a part to play. Stop believing that you do not matter. Stop being envious of others. Stop denying your purpose at harvest.20:45I shouldn't doubt the part I play because that denies my purpose. Letter B, I shouldn't doubt the part I play because that dishonors God's design. Because that dishonors God's design. Let's look at verses 18 through 20. But as it is, God arranges the members in the body, each one of them as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be?21:18When you badmouth a team's starting lineup and strategies, who are you ultimately dishonoring? The coach who decides who starts and designs the place. If you pick apart every single detail of a restaurant and complain about it to everyone that you know, who are you dishonoring ultimately? The manager, the owner, who decides who to hire, who makes all the big decisions. If you complain about your gifting and part in the body, who are you ultimately dishonoring? God himself. He is the one who created you. He is the one who designed his church. Paul says that God arranges the members in the body, each of them as he chose. When you are discontent with your part in the church, you aren't just hurting yourself, and you are hurting yourself.22:13You aren't just shortchanging your fellow members. You aren't just making ministry hard for the pastors, elders, and other leaders. You are accusing God. You are saying something about Him that is not true. You are shouting this message to your Creator. God, you made a mistake with me. I deserve a do-over. You could have done better. Is that a great message to send to the most important and powerful person the universe. No, it is not. Because God doesn't need a do-over. Because he nails everything on the first try. God did not make a mistake with you. He designs you purposefully and puts you into his church with purpose and design. It's a complete waste of time, energy, and effort to resist the Lord. So cut it out. Get on board with his plans for the body. Lean into your God-given part instead of backing away from it. Do your job in the church because it was personally chosen for you. Since I'm a member of the body of Christ, I shouldn't doubt the part I play. Since I'm a member of the body of Christ, number two on your outline, I shouldn't downplay the roles of others. I shouldn't downplay the roles of others.23:44from sabotaging yourself to sabotaging others. It is foolish to stand in your own way, but it is wicked to stand in the way of other people. As we just talked about, many of you struggle with a low view of yourself and how God has gifted you. Others of you have the exact opposite problem. You have a low view of others and how God has gifted them.24:13In the next several verses, Paul warns you to not downplay the roles of others in the church. Listen to verses 21 through 24.24:43which are more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it. I shouldn't downplay the roles of others, letter A on your outline, by acting like I don't need anyone else. By acting like I don't need anyone else. So Paul turns the tables on the Corinthians as well as you and me in these verses. He flips the scenario.25:13First, he says it's dumb for a foot or an eye to say that they're not a part of the body. Now he says it's dumb for the eye or the head to tell other parts of the body that they don't matter. This kind of attitude is arrogant. This game of comparison misses the point. You know, naturally, we all create lists of importance and systems of ranking.25:43a to-do list that you want to complete, right? Where do you put the items that you think are the most important? Top of the list, right? Where do you put the items that you think are probably the least important? At the bottom of the list. Several months ago, many of you took part in the college basketball brackets, right? You decided which teams you thought were the best and which teams you thought were the worst. If I were to ask you your favorite movies, you could list them very quickly. If I were to ask you to list your least favorite movies, you could do it even quicker. We naturally evaluate everything. We're constantly grading other people's performances. We form our own personal rankings. And this was happening in the Corinthian church back in the first century. There were the spiritual elite at the top of the charts who looked down on those they thought were weaker, less honorable, and even unpresentable.26:45Paul says those brothers or sisters who seem weaker are actually indispensable. Those who seem to have a less than honorable role deserve greater honor. Those who seem unpresentable should be treated with the utmost respect. You may be thinking, oh, Pastor Taylor, I'm not spiritually elite. I don't look down at other people. I don't act like I don't need anyone else.27:16Are you sure about that? Are you sure? Do you make excuses for why you can't be in community with other believers? Do you refuse to join a small group or be involved in other ministries that we offer here like fishermen, live, laugh, lunch, precepts, mugs and moms? You say you don't have time or energy for these things, but inwardly you know that's not true.27:43By not joining a small group or participating in any of these ministries, you are communicating a loud and clear message, I'm doing just fine on my own. I don't need anyone else. I am self-sufficient. Maybe you are a part of a small group of one of the other ministries that I mentioned, but as soon as you walk in, you put up your defense shields. You don't share a detail of your life with anybody. No one knows anything about what you're struggling with or how they can pray for you because you don't.28:13tell them. You don't want to trust anybody else because they might let you down. You were hurt in the past and so you think, well, it's going to happen again, so I'm not even going to try. Are you someone who comes in late and leaves early because you are terrified of knowing others and being known? You're acting like you don't need anyone else. Are there people in this room or the other service that you actively avoid?28:45Is there a guy in your small group that you intentionally leave out of conversations and hangouts? Is there a woman down the aisle from you who you are blatantly rude to face to face and make fun of behind closed doors? All of these behaviors are childish. All of these behaviors are reflective of the Corinthians, not Christ. All of those behaviors hurt the body and do not help the body.29:14I shouldn't downplay the roles of others by acting like I don't need anyone else. Letter B, I shouldn't downplay the roles of others by exclusively focusing on my needs. By exclusively focusing on my needs. Let's read verses 25 through 26. That there may be no division in the body, that the members may have the same care for one another.29:44All suffer together. If one member is honored, all rejoice together.29:53Have you ever been walking around your house minding your own business whenever you stub your pinky toe on the bed or a bench or a chair?30:01Let me ask you, in that moment, is it just your pinky toe that reacts?30:07Does the rest of your body think, man, sucks to be pinky, too bad for him.30:11I'm just gonna kinda do my own thing for a little while he calms down. No, when you stub your pinky toe, the pause button is pressed on life and nothing else matters. Your whole body reacts, your face grimaces, your mouth yells out some things that you hope nobody else hears. Your back arches, your hands reach down and grab your damaged foot and you pogo stick around on the undamaged foot and then your eyes inspect the damage. Your whole body reacts to the pain.30:43You ever had a bad back problem? Or a nagging tooth pain? Are you able to compartmentalize that and not think about it? Now when your back hurts, it's game over for your day. If your tooth is throbbing, you have one all-consuming thought, end the pain right now. Your whole body feels the pain of even its smallest member.31:12The same should be true of the body of Christ. If one person is in pain, all of us should be in pain. If there is a need, we should all rise up to meet that need. If someone in your small group has a big surgery or a major medical issue, start a meal train. Go visit them in the hospital. Take care of tasks around the house.31:41If there's someone on your serving team who loses a family member, show up at the funeral. Show up at the visitation. Your presence will speak far louder than any words you could possibly share. Care about the pain of other people. Meet the needs of others. Care about what other people need, even more than what you need. If one member suffers, all suffer together.32:11If one member is honored, all rejoice together. Here's a question that's been nagging at me all week. Do I love to celebrate the victories of other people? Very often the answer is no. What about you? Do you love to celebrate the victories of other people? Do you rejoice with other Christians?32:41When something good happens to another Christian in your life, do you think, praise the Lord, what a blessing? Or do you think, man, when's it going to be my turn? Nothing good ever happens to me like it does to that guy. When there's a couple in this church that has a solid marriage and really great godly children, do you think to yourself, man, what a great example that I want to follow? Or do you think to yourself, when will my family get it together? I'll never be like Mr. and Mrs. Perfect. I wish they'd stop rubbing it in my face.33:13You have to understand that other people's success is not your failure. According to Paul, their success is your success because you are a part of the same body. Let's share in the pain together. Let's share in the joy together. Let's thank the Lord in the good times together. And let's trust the Lord in the hard times together.33:41I shouldn't downplay the roles of others by acting like I don't need anyone else. I shouldn't downplay the roles of others by exclusively focusing on my needs. Finally, I shouldn't downplay the roles of others by shining the spotlight onto me. By shining the spotlight onto me. Let's wrap up with verses 27 through 31. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, These verses are jam-packed with a ton of stuff that we cannot get into. We don't have the time right now.34:41But it's really important to see that Paul mentions an office that no longer exists today. The office of apostle. Some churches have not got that memo yet. God is not posting apostleship jobs on Indeed. He is not hiring or looking to fill that position in 2026. Paul also talks about the sign gifts like speaking in tongues, miracles, and healing. Thankfully, I don't have to wade into that controversial topic because Pastor Jeff did it last week and he'll do an even deeper dive this summer.35:11Sometimes it pays to be the associate pastor.35:15But for now, catch the principle that Paul is communicating instead of getting bogged down in the details.35:21And the best way to do that is to answer the layup questions that Paul asks.35:25Let's go through the list.35:26And you have to participate.35:27You have to answer the question.35:29There's one obvious answer for all of them.35:31Are all apostles?35:33Good job.35:34Are all prophets?35:36Are all teachers?35:38Do all work miracles?35:39Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? What's Paul's point? God has given every single believer a spiritual gift or several spiritual gifts, but he has not given any believer all the spiritual gifts. That's not possible. You know, we have a lot of talented musicians and vocalists here at Harvest, don't we? Let's give them a round of applause and thank them for all they do for us.36:13You know, Jesse Hogan, he can sing, he can play the guitar, he can play the drums, he can play the piano. He can play three instruments and I can play none. I guess I shouldn't rank our abilities, right? I shouldn't compare. I'm sorry, I'm still learning that lesson myself. I shouldn't compare with Jesse. Jesse can play all those things, but he can't play every single instrument in the world of which there are over 1,500.36:39Also, Jesse can't play all those instruments at the same exact time. If Jesse tried to come up here and do a one-man band and try to run between the guitar, the piano, and run between the drums, he would make a total and complete fool of himself. Because prideful exaltation always leads to forced humility. Jesse needs the rest of the band around him.37:09He needs everybody else. He needs the vocalists who can't reach the notes that he cannot. He needs Chris or Jay on bass. Jesse needs everybody else working with him. You know, the Corinthians were experts in self-exaltation. Many in the church wanted to shine the spotlight onto themselves. Look again at verse 31. Paul says, On a first glance, it may look like Paul is commanding the Corinthians to seek after the biggest and best gifts, but that totally misses the point of what he's actually saying. If you pay attention to the context, he's saying the exact opposite. This word, earnestly, is most often used in the context of envy and jealousy. A better translation of this verse is, But you are jealous for the higher gifts Paul is not commending them He is not celebrating them He is correcting the Corinthians Because they desired the flashy and showy gifts Serving wasn't on their mind because they wanted to show off Paul is telling them You're not the point So stop trying to be You're not in competition with one another You are working together Be in sync with one another do your job and help other people do their job as well. And he concludes by saying, and I will show you a still more excellent way. What is that still more excellent way? It is the way of love, which Pastor Jeff will talk about next week. This whole topic of spiritual gifts and the unity of the body should be viewed the lens of love.39:05The love of Christ for us, our love for Christ, and our love for each other. Otherwise, we'll miss the point of why God even gifted us in the first place. If you have been saved by Christ, never forget that you belong to Christ. Never forget that you belong to Christ's beloved body. Since you're a member of the body of Christ, you shouldn't doubt the part that you Since you're a member of the body of Christ, you shouldn't downplay the roles of others. As this sermon concludes, some of you in this room may feel a bit left out because you're not a Christian. You are not a member of the body of Christ. As of now, you are a detached hand or foot that has no function in the church body. As of right now, you are a detached eye or ear that is not connected to anything greater than yourself. As of now, the life-giving blood of Christ does not flow in you and through you. I have to warn you, if you continue in this state of self-isolation, you will wither away and die in your sins. You will experience a life without purpose, and you will endure an eternity separated from the giver of life.40:35and the other recipients of his life. If that's you, I beg you to turn from your sin and turn to Jesus. Place the full weight of your faith upon him, what he has done through his life, death, and resurrection. And then, and only then, will you be forgiven and given new life. Then, you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit. You will be filled with the Holy Spirit. You will be brought into the body of Christ.41:04you will be placed into the perfect role that you were made for. You will be given the high honor and responsibility of serving Christ and his body. We'd love for you to join us. Let's pray. Father, we come to you and we thank you for your word. We thank you for the encouragement and the conviction that we all experienced. Lord, if there is someone in this room who is currently not a member of the body of Christ, who is not saved. May today be the day where they finally say no to sin and yes to your son.41:43And for the rest of us, Lord, may we do our jobs.41:47May we let other people do their jobs.41:49May we work together and encourage each other.41:51Lord, we thank you for all that you're doing with this new building project.41:57Lord, none of that matters if we can't work together now.42:01May we be faithful now.42:03May we work together now. Monday, 25 May 2026   And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?' Matthew 20:6   “Around, also, the eleventh hour, having exited, he found others having stood inactive. And he says to them, ‘Why, here, you ‘having stood all the day' inactive?'” (CG)   In the previous verse, it said that the housemaster went out at the sixth and ninth hours to hire more people. Jesus next says, “Around, also, the eleventh hour.”   There is an emphasis in these words with the inclusion of the article before “eleventh.” In the other instances, there was no article. This emphasizes the fact that it is right at the end of the day, about 5 pm. Twilight would be coming, and the day would be complete.   In John 11:9, Jesus says, “Are there not twelve hours in the day?” Though probably not specifically talking about a workday, it would signify the duration of a day where work could be accomplished. As Jesus next says in John 11:9, “If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.” That builds upon what Jesus said in John 9 –   “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4, 5   Because the housemaster is hiring day laborers, they would be hired out for the full day. As there is still more light, it says the housemaster, “having exited, he found others having stood inactive.”   These guys had been standing around the market, ostensibly, for an entire day. It is true that some of them may have gotten up later, had things to do at the house, took the morning off for some reason, etc., but for the most part, the next verse indicates they would be people who have come early for the sole purpose of finding work. Because of this, it next notes, “And he says to them, ‘Why, here, you ‘having stood all the day' inactive?'”   He seems incredulous that they had been lolling around all day doing nothing. What is to be done with such people?   Life application: Imagine being a day laborer today. You have a bike to get you to the office, where day laborers go. In the early morning, someone comes in and says he has work digging out stumps. It is a very labor-intensive job. You know, because you did it before. You decide to pass on taking that job.   Throughout the day, people keep getting assigned to jobs, but every time someone comes by, you have missed the call. One time, you went to the bathroom. The next time you went outside to stretch your legs, after that, your wife called and said little Johnny is sick. While trying to console her, two other guys are selected. Each time, a job has slipped past you.   Toward the end of the day, nobody else has come by to hire anyone. Just as you are getting up to get back on your bike and head home, someone walks in and asks why you have been sitting around all day. Do you take it as an insult? Do you take it as light humor? Do you consider it an indictment concerning your skinny frame?   Or does his tone ring of sincerity, really wanting to know why you weren't selected for work, as if he might be able to help out next time you come for work? The scenario is possible, and it doesn't just apply to work. Some people are looking for marriage in their lives, and it keeps eluding them.   Others may be looking for the opportunity to buy a home, but each time one becomes available, something always comes up to interfere with it coming about. It seems like life is against you in this regard. The thing is, we all have to continue on with life.   Are we going to bear a grudge against God? Will we think we are destined for failure? Do people perceive us as incapable? People go through such times questioning their situation. If you are a believer in God, you should remember that at one time you were not saved and now you are.   You had the greatest change a person can ever experience. And it was solely by God's grace that it came about. If you can remember that truth, clinging to it through the trials, you will be able to hold fast to the fact that God was with you, is with you, and will never abandon you. It doesn't matter what people may think about you, and it is one hundred percent certain that you are not destined for failure.   God selected you through the gospel to be his. Whatever trial you are facing, He is there with you as you go through it. So hold fast to Him. If the house is meant to come, it will. If not, you still have an eternal home ahead. If a husband or wife comes along, that is great, but if not, you are a part of the bride of Christ, the church.   The temporary lives we live are a blip in the eternal scheme of things. Eyes on Jesus! You are His. Everything else falls behind that as a reason for being joy-filled at all times.   “For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:2   Lord God, we have needs in this life that You are faithful to tend to. We also have desires as we walk in this world. Search us out and help us as we strive for what we want. It may be that such things are not meant to come about, but we can still pray for them, knowing that You are tending even to the desires of our hearts according to Your wisdom. Thank You that You are always with us in this walk of life. Amen.

This week on Sasquatch Odyssey, I sit down with Brett from Colorado, a lifelong outdoorsman, avid hunter, and longtime listener who finally decided to send his story in. What unfolds across this conversation is one of those grounded, no-frills encounters that I think hits harder than the big sexy sightings, because Brett isn't trying to sell you anything.He's a guy who grew up in the Colorado mountains, knows what belongs out there, and ran headfirst into something that didn't.Brett's first brush with the unknown happened when he was around 16 or 17 years old, somewhere in 2006 or 2007, while camping at the alpine lakes on the western side of I-25 in southern Colorado. A fire, a friend, a quiet night, and then a sound coming out of the tree line that didn't match anything he had ever heard in those mountains. He describes it as a howl, but a howl with bass to it, something guttural that didn't track as canine. His buddy went pale almost immediately and told him his grandpa had warned him about Bigfoot. That was the first time Brett had ever really heard the word in any serious way, and the wood knocks rolling in from the timber that night did the rest of the work. The bigger story, and the one that has stayed with him for almost twenty years now, happened in the summer of 2009 on a remote stretch of road between Durango and Alamosa. Brett, his now-wife, and his best friend Paul were on a road trip out to California after graduating high school. Somewhere south of the Four Corners, deep in unfamiliar country and lost off the MapQuest directions, a doe ran out in front of the Jeep and refused to leave the road. She kept pace in the headlights for a couple hundred yards, which any hunter will tell you is not normal deer behavior.Then Brett saw it on an embankment off the driver's side. Seven to ten feet tall, black and shaggy, and a pair of eyes he describes as Texas Longhorn orange catching the headlights and then dimming as he passed.His friend Paul, who comes from a Hispanic and Native American family, refused to discuss it for the next ten or fifteen miles down the road. When he finally broke, he confirmed everything Brett had seen, then immediately shut it back down with three words that get to the heart of so much of this phenomenon. We don't talk about him. Paul had been raised to believe that talking about this creature is what brings him around to take children. That cultural weight, that learned silence, is something I've explored on this show many times with Fred from Alaska and others, and Brett's experience puts a fresh face on it.We get into the wood knocks Brett heard up at the alpine lakes and how they compare to what I heard with Todd Standing up in Radium and what I've experienced right here on my own property in North Carolina.Brett describes the sound as more of a hollow whop than a wood-on-wood thud, and we talk through my growing belief, shaped by years of conversations with Doug Hajicek and Tom Powell, that a lot of these knocks are being made with the mouth and hand rather than with sticks or clubs. The simple reality is that you cannot walk into the woods and reliably find a piece of wood solid enough to produce that kind of report. The physics don't work.The conversation moves into eye shine, which is where Brett's hunting background really earns its keep. He breaks down the difference between the green and white shine you get off deer and elk, the yellow on cats and bears, and the quick flash of a mountain lion crossing a road, and then explains why what he saw that night fit none of it. The eyes were steady. They tracked the Jeep without flinching. The creature didn't move, didn't hide, didn't react the way anything in those woods is supposed to react.Brett's read, and I think it's a sharp one, is that the thing was hunting that doe and the Jeep just happened to roll into the middle of it.We spend real time on the question of why people clam up after these encounters, and Brett's answer is honest and uncomfortable. Most of the time it's not culture, it's social pressure. He had this conversation with his own parents after the sighting and got the standard dismissals. Probably a bear. You were tired. It was late. He's watched friends shut down their own stories mid-sentence at a bar because of how the table might react.His framing is one I appreciated. If you are comfortable with who you are, it shouldn't matter whether your best friend believes you. The story is yours either way.There's a moment in this episode I want to call out because it caught me off guard in the best way. Brett pauses the interview to ask me a question, which almost never happens on this show, and he proposes a theory about my own experiences filming My Bigfoot Life out in the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2024. He suggests that the calm I felt during that night hike, when I was within ten feet of one of these things and chose to chase it up the ridge rather than retreat, is the same conditioned response that kicked in during my sixteen years in law enforcement, including the two times I was shot at on the job with the Atlanta Police Department. The sheepdog reflex. Run toward the danger, not away from it. I had never quite framed it that way myself, and he might be onto something.We close with Brett's confirmation moment, which came years after the sighting when a Native American truck driver from the Four Corners region described the exact same orange eyes on the exact same pass without Brett feeding him a single detail. That kind of independent corroboration, from a man whose culture has been quietly tracking this creature for centuries, is the kind of data point that doesn't show up in a documentary but matters more than most of what does.Brett's encouragement to anyone sitting on a story is the same encouragement I have been giving for years on this show. The headline was simple. Jack Campbell announced his contract extension. It runs through the 2030 season. The why behind Detroit declining Campbell's fifth year option mattered. His All-Pro nod pushed that option cost to the franchise tag level for linebackers. The NFL does not separate off ball linebackers from pass rushing linebackers in that calculation. His missed tackle rate stood out. He was reliable. He was where he needed to be. Always around the ball. The extension validates the development. The Money Mechanics and What's Next Detroit's approach to contracts remains a strategic subplot for the NFL audience. The Lions prefer void years over traditional restructures. That creates cap flexibility today but limits the ability to restructure deals later. You cannot easily add more years if dead years already stack at the back end. The number of void years on Campbell will signal how aggressively Detroit wants to push money forward. If the deal carries only one void year, it suggests confidence. Prepare for Tribulation Harvest (1) (audio) David Eells, 5/13/26   Great Harvest Through UBM David Eells When I started our website, Mark Ward helped me to set it up. At that time, he had a dream. In it, he saw himself going to his neighbor's yard with his casting rod to teach him how to catch fish. He demonstrated to his neighbor by casting out his line, but the line never hit the ground. Instead, it went out between the telephone wires into space. He noticed that all the way down the line were many, many hooks. As he waited, a fish the size of a man was caught on one of the hooks. Then a fish as big as the sky came and swallowed the first fish. Mark asked me what I thought this meant. I said that Jesus called us to “catch men”. (Mat.4:19) And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men. (Luk.5:10) And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. Fishing through the telephone lines and in space must be fishing over the Internet and wireless. I told him that the Lord was confirming that the website we were building was going to be very successful for the Kingdom in bringing in a great harvest. The first fish that was the size of a man was to show that he was fishing for men. The second fish was to show that a great corporate body of men would be caught by us in this method. It is clear from many dreams and visions that this, along with standard methods of evangelization through sending out many witnesses, as Jesus showed us, will bring a great revival through UBM and many other ministries God is raising up.   Tribulation Ministry Before the Great Storm Tony Hinton - 02/27/2005 (David's notes in red) In a dream, my wife and I were floating along a body of water. It appeared to be a lake, but it was large like an ocean. Each of us was on a separate float, which was yellow gold in color. (The waters are the peoples of the world. The yellow gold is the nature of Christ, which separates (sanctifies) and preserves the righteous from the world.) We were lying on our backs on these floats, looking up at a brilliant sun and beautiful blue sky. At this time, the water was still like glass. We were dressed in white body suits similar to skin diving suits. (Those in white are the righteous who are separated from the world (as in body suits) with their faces to the Son of God in faith rather than on the world and the wicked.) Each of us had a Bible in our hands, and we were reading to each other, taking turns reading aloud. These were special Bibles because they were not affected by the weather or water in any way. The ink did not run if they got wet, and the pages did not blow in the wind. (The special Bibles are the unleavened bread, which is not polluted with the thinking of men, and the water.) The lake was huge, and we floated all over this lake together, just enjoying reading and being together. When the wind would start to blow, we would join hands (my right, her left) (She is on your right hand as Christ and His true church (the called out ones) and continue to read, holding the Bibles with our other hand. When the rains began, we held hands even tighter and continued to read louder, so we could be heard above the dark sky of the winds and rains. These were intense, dark rains, but they would not last long, and the sun would come out again, and the sky would be beautiful and blue again. (These are the birth pains of coming tribulation, which will grow in intensity and frequency.) Every day, we would seem to see different and new parts of this huge lake. As we came to a different part of this lake, it was beautiful, but there was a cove off the main body of water. From this cove, we began to hear cries. At the same time, we both became aware of something under the surface of the water. It was bad and very foreboding. God's true people will receive clear revelation of the antichrist dragon body, as the peoples of the world. (Isa.27:1) In that day Jehovah with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will slay the monster (Hebrew: also Dragon) that is in the sea. (Rev.12:9) And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him. (10) And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying, Now is come the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accuseth them before our God day and night. (11) And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death. As we prayed, it left and headed up towards the cove where the cries were coming from. We prayed again. I said, “We need to go see if we can help whoever it was, we were hearing”. My wife said, “Yes, but what about the thing under the water?” However, even without talking, we knew that we had to agree and go, so we did. (Many will seek to stay hidden from the cries for help, but the need to help those who are in danger of the Dragon will outweigh the fear of the Dragon itself.) Agreeing to go, we went a long way up the cove, almost losing sight of the main body of water. There were other coves off this one, lots of them, and we could tell that there appeared to be a maze of coves. (The coves are the smaller bodies of people to whom we are sent, which will lead to other bodies. The major body on the broad road will not be saved.) At this point, a dark and rainy wind came up out of nowhere and blew us apart. We could see each other but had been blown apart. We began paddling as hard as we could with our free hand towards each other. (Troubles will separate the body, but the hands here represent our own efforts to save ourselves and keep our feeling of safety in unity. As it was with the early disciples, some may be separated from their wives for a time for the sake of those who need to hear God's voice in you. We have been shown that some families will be safe in our refuge so that the husbands can feel free to go out with the gospel.) The Bibles were still in our other hand. The wind then began blowing so hard, and the waves became so high that we lost sight of each other. (This will happen in tribulation when many are in great turmoil and crying for help. Also, the worldly rise up against the true God. (Isa.57:20) But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it cannot rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt. (21) There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.) I felt my heart go faint, and despair gripped my soul, and I knew it was the same for my wife. With all that was in me, I started crying out for Jesus to help us. Suddenly, a voice came out of the midst of the storm and said, “Use your arm with the Word as your paddle...Hurry, for worse, much worse storms, never before seen, lie ahead”. (This separation will bring many to deep, self-crucifying repentance, but the righteous will learn to live by faith in the promises of God's Word rather than their own self-efforts. The Word paddle will move us forward. Many will be translated from place to place so that the body will be unified through their faith.) I took the Bible and started paddling, while shouting the Word. Instantly, I began to move over the waves through the wind and rain. Then I made it to my wife, who was crying because she knew that I was coming for her. (It is not just the knowledge of the word but the spoken Word that will save and unify the body through tribulation.) Through much effort, we clasped hands again. All seemed to be well, even though this storm continued for a little while longer. The storm then passed, with the sun coming back out. We rolled back over on our backs, basking in the sun, and began to sing sweet songs of praise to Jesus for saving us. We rested in Him. (When we have entered the rest through our own wilderness tribulations by keeping our eyes on the Son of God, we are prepared to give this gift to others in need.) Then it was morning, and we again heard the cries coming from the cove. We agreed that I would go, and my wife would stay so that she could keep the main body of water in sight. I would follow the cries no further than I could hear my wife's voice, so that we would know where each of us was, as I went to locate the cries coming from the cove. (Contrary to popular opinion, sometimes men will go out to evangelize, and many women will teach the younger women and children in communal places of refuge, just as it was in the time of the Gospels and the Book of Acts, and as we are commanded in the Word. Some lead about a wife as in (1Co 9:5) Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? History must repeat. The things that have been are the things that shall be … (Ecc.1:9). Also, those men who are called to stay with the baggage in David's day shared in the plunder of conquering the enemy. (1Sa.30:24) As I began to make my way towards the cove, I remembered the thing under the water, and I prayed for Jesus to protect my wife. Rounding a bend in this cove, I came upon another cove. There were all kinds of people on black floats, trying to make their way towards the main body of water. (The ones in black floats are those who are called of God but have not been sanctified in separation from the world and are therefore in danger because they are headed to the broad road of the masses.) They were entangled in a huge, evil-looking black vine that came up out of the water. The vine had thorns on it, and at the end of the thorns were hooks. These hooks had hold of these people. Some had been there a long time and were still appearing to be dead. Others just lay there moaning, moving only slightly. Those who had just gotten entangled were thrashing around wildly in the water, screaming for help. These were the cries we had heard. The people were of all different colors: yellow, black, brown, and white, and young and old alike. (Those who are called out of the world are entangled by the vine of their carnal life of sin, which springs from the earth out of which the fruit must grow. (Isa.27:2) In that day: A vineyard of wine, sing ye unto it. (3) I Jehovah am its keeper; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. (4) Wrath is not in me: would that the briers and thorns were against me in battle! Some are twice dead and plucked up by the roots. Some are entangled in carnal religion that caters to the fleshly man. (2 Pet.2:18) For, uttering great swelling [words] of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness (meaning: self-justifying doctrines that permit sin), those who are just escaping from them that live in error; (19) promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage. (20) For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first. (Its reprobation)(21) For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (22) It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.) Within myself, I thought if I went into this maze, I too would be hooked, and my wife would be left alone. I then heard a clear voice say, “FEAR NOT”. “Use your paddle (Bible) to cut them free”. I begin to swing at the vine with my hand that had the Bible, which I had used as a paddle, which had suddenly become a razor-sharp sword. Stunned, I continue to swing the sword, cutting away the vine and the hooked thorns. The people would fall free and turn over on their backs (Eyes on the Son with faith in the Word) and begin to float in the cove towards the main body of water. We were weeping with joy and thanksgiving as the people were freed. (Those who have overcome and are sent must be careful not to be defiled with the leaven of the unsanctified. As long as they use the sword of the spoken Word against the flesh, they will be safe, and those who listen will be set free by learning to face the Son by faith. Jas.1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.) Then I froze as I heard my wife's voice. She was a long way off, and I told everyone to be quiet so that I could tell the direction from where her voice was coming from. She was calling out that the thing under the water had come back...to hurry. I knew that this thing was powerful and could pull her under if she were alone. Crying out, I ask Jesus to help her. (There will be attempts by the Dragon and then later the Beast against the camps of the saints, but faith towards God will preserve them.) Turning to those still caught up in the evil vine, I told them, “Hold on, help is coming”. I then told those who could paddle to follow me, following the person in front of them out of the cove towards the main body of water. (Those who are committed yet unstable will be guided to the camp of the saints, where prophets, pastors, and teachers will nourish them to purity and strength.) We began to paddle toward my wife's voice, but I could not seem to get anywhere because with so many people in the water beside me, it was creating a drag or wake and was hampering my progress. I then remembered what Jesus had said, “That a worse storm is coming, a storm that has never been”. All I could think of was getting to my wife, and I asked the Lord to put a hedge of protection around her. (Before the Day of the Lord comes, after the Tribulation, God's people will be gathered into the Ark of Christ to ride out the tribulation and the beginning forty days of this storm.) I then thought of all the people still caught up in the evil vine, and I paddled even harder, determined not to be separated from my wife in this storm that was coming. I was strengthened. (Some will be gathered, but some will be destroyed in the Day of the Lord's wrath. (Jud.1:22) And on some have mercy, who are in doubt; (23) and some save, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (24) Now unto him that is able to guard you from stumbling, and to set you before the presence of his glory without blemish in exceeding joy.) Finally catching sight of my wife, while paddling towards her, I then saw on the horizon behind her, a wall of very black clouds beginning to form. It was on the other side of the horizon, and it was a WALL of BLACK DARKNESS. (Joe.2:1) Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is nigh at hand; (2) a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness...(31) The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh. ... (Amo.5:20) Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? “Father,” I cried, “You are not willing (the  Greek here is “wishing”) that any should perish, Stay the storm a while longer”. (This storm will come for seven years while the saints are being purified, and then a worse storm will come at the beginning of the great and terrible Day of the Lord's wrath. As in the natural, Zion was a place of safety. (Mic.4:8) “And thou, O tower of the flock,…” (Mat.24:29) But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, (Representing the called that are not gathered and lose their position with Christ in the heavenlies.) and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (30) and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (31) And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet (the last Trump), and they shall gather together his elect (The Chosen who are gathered) from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.) I then woke up, and I was crying. My beard and my bed were soaked. I was sick for most of the day. (This sounds like (Dan.8:25-27) And through his policy he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and in [their] security shall he destroy many: he shall also stand up against the prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (26) And the vision of the evenings and mornings which hath been told is true: but shut thou up the vision; for it belongeth to many days [to come]. (27) And I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days; then I rose up, and did the king's business: and I wondered at the vision, but none understood it.)   Angels Ask to Serve Us in the Harvest Brian - 12/14/2007 (David's notes in red) I had a dream that I was standing outside, staring at the sky. It was dark and the sky was full of stars. As I was looking up, the moon and the stars started moving around in a crazy circle very fast. (The moon and stars represent God's people passing through many nights, represented by their circling the earth.) When they stopped, some of the stars made the shape of a large fish in the sky and started blinking like a neon sign. (The great fish in heavenly places represents a great corporate harvest of fish after many nights.) What looked like smoke then started coming down from the sky from where the fish was toward me. I was scared and started running toward this house. The smoke was following me. As I went into the house and turned around, and much to my surprise, the smoke took on the shape of a huge angel with wings. It then started waving at me very friendly-like. I turned around to tell whoever was in the house that there was an angel outside waving to me. When I turned around, it was daylight, and there were now many angels who were all standing right in front of me. (Heb.1:14) Are they (angels) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation?) They looked like people, and they all had pen and paper in their hands, ready to write. They greeted me and asked if I needed anything. (The angels serve our needs in the work of bringing in the fish, among other things.) I said, “Can you make sure Lisa Tate and her family are saved?” (Lisa is a childhood friend that I have been dreaming about lately.) One of the angels said, “We can't see that someone is saved, but we are here to see if you need anything”. (“You have not because you ask not”. Many in the days to come will get the revelation of how angels can do all that is necessary far easier than us.) The End. The Lord confirmed this dream days later through my 3-year-old nephew, who was spending the weekend at my mother's house. He just blurted out on that Sunday afternoon that he had a dream the night before that the Sun, Moon, and Stars all got into a boat that was in the water. I have to say that goosebumps grew quickly. (1 Corinthians 15 likens the Sun, Moon and Stars to the different stages of growth of God's people. Here they are caught in a boat like fish.) It was then that the Spirit led me to a book called The Witness of the Stars by E. W. Bullinger, where I think I found the fish. I had no idea that the zodiac had the biblical story. I guess Satan has counterfeited everything. This is what I found in book 2, chapter 2: “Piscis Australis” (The Southern Fish) This first constellation is one of high antiquity, and its brilliant star of the first magnitude was a subject of great study by the Egyptians and Ethiopians. It is named in Arabic “Fom al Haut”, “The mouth of the Fish”. There are 22 other stars. (It is the fish's hunger from God that causes them to be caught.) The constellation is inseparable from Aquarius. In the Denderah Zodiac, it is called Aar, “A Stream”. It sets forth the simple truth that the blessings procured by the MAN - the coming seed of the woman, will be surely bestowed and received by those for whom they are intended. There will be no failure in their communication or in their reception. What has been purchased shall be secured and possessed. (This is true of Jesus and Jesus in the end-time Man-child company of Revelation 12. Hold on to your faith for the things promised by God.) PS: Zodiac, ancient word Zoaz, is “the path”, or “the way”. (The Bible speaks of constellations of the Zodiac positively, but men have turned these good signs into astrology, which is idolatry. In Acts “the way” is the Christian walk.)   Harvest Awaits While Laborers Play Debbi Rennier - 07/23/2006 (David's notes in red) (Mat.9:36) But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered, as sheep not having a shepherd. (37) Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few. (38) Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest. (Yes Lord, we do pray that you send forth Your anointed people to be bold witnesses for you.) Over the last three nights, the Lord has given me this dream: I saw the most beautiful, golden wheat field gently rippling in the breeze. This field was of gigantic proportions, as large as California and Texas combined. I seemed to be floating just above the field, and as I gazed downwards, I saw hands reaching up out of the wheat field. The hands were of all sizes and colors. They seemed to be trying to reach or grasp for something or someone. I then saw a few people, perhaps a half-dozen, go into the field and start helping those whose hands I saw grasping. Those whom they helped in the field also began helping others. This scene was really heartbreaking as there were so many who reached up and so few to help. Many more were missed and overlooked than were saved. (We pray that all hands that reach to God get answered. (Luk.10:2 And he said unto them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.) We commit to do this Lord.) I then looked at the edges of the enormous field and saw much frantic activity. Construction workers were busily building large churches and big houses. I saw business people rushing to work and car dealerships selling expensive cars. They were all totally oblivious to the tragic scene in the wheat field. They rushed about as if nothing was wrong. I then woke up. The Lord led me to the 10th chapter of Hosea. Then HE spoke: “People keep building and laying up treasures here on earth. They will be destroyed. Seek that which is lost. Do not waste your time on the foolish things that will perish...”   Tares Separated G. C. - 11/16/2012 (David's notes in red) G. C. wrote to me the following on 11/16/2012: As the world gets darker, you can see the Light a lot more in some people, while the rest become completely engrossed in the darkness that surrounds them. We are coming to the days where there will be no more fence sitters concerning what is right and wrong. People will be totally righteous or be completely wicked and depraved. The separation has already begun, and judgment has started at the house of God. (I have been horrified by what I have seen. The once strong brethren I've witnessed being turned over to the beast nature. I am not talking about a misstep or stumble; rather, complete disregard for the truth and giving into every form of sensuality.) (There are still some to be removed from the body. They will stumble into darkness over the Rock of offense, Jesus in the Man-child. The Lord is purging His Army because of their seen and unseen sins. Then there will be a glorious revival.) We received this revelation the same day from:   Harvest Begins B. A. - 11/16/2012 I dreamed I was dressed like Ruth back in that time period. I was standing in Boaz's field and admiring the bounty of his crop. It's going to be a good harvest, I thought to myself. It won't be long now. Looks like the wheat is pretty much ready; it just needs a little more time, but not much. (At the time of Jesus the Man-child He said in Joh 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest. 36  He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal…) I noticed some strange-looking weeds here and there, but I wasn't concerned, as I know the harvesters can tell the difference between the wheat and the tares. (They both grow together until the harvest, or tribulation, and then the tares are gathered out of the Kingdom to be burned. (Mat.13:30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.) As I was gazing about the field, I felt the ground start to shake under my feet. (We have been shown by scripture and dream at the anointing of the Man-child great earthquakes will come.) I looked down and I could see the earth shaking, but my feet were steady. (I physically did feel the earth shake, and it made me look down, and I saw the earth moving. (I believe this represents both a physical and spiritual shaking. I believe the Lord was showing me something very important. He wanted me to see the earth moving and shaking, but also to take notice that my feet were not moved; they were perfectly steady. That was very encouraging to me.) I looked back up, and then I saw them in the distance. “Here comes the harvesters! Oh, boy!” (I believe them to be the Man-child [first fruits] coming into the field, as they are the hand of the Lord finishing His work here on earth, bringing in God's harvest.) (Mat.13:36) Then he left the multitudes, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Explain unto us the parable of the tares of the field. (37) And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; (38) and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil [one]; (39) and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (40) As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. (41) The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, (42) and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. (43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.   First-fruits Harvest B. A. - 07/24/2013 (David's notes in red) I had a vision where I was in the spirit, looking down at an apple orchard. I saw an old man (whom I believe represents the Father), and he was at the very top of a large apple tree, and he was inspecting the apples (spiritual Israel) at the top of the tree (representing the Man-child who is the mature fruit). And to the right of the old man was his son (whom I believe represents Jesus) and his son was holding a woven basket (144,000 Man-child company). I watched as the old man carefully examined each apple, inspecting it for the right color and shape before he would pick the apple and give it to his son to place in the woven basket. (Exo.23:19) The first (144,000 man-child) of the first-fruits (Bride) of thy ground thou shalt bring into the house of Jehovah thy God ... (16) and the feast of harvest, the first-fruits of thy labors, which thou sowest in the field (The Feast of Harvest or Pentecost is sometimes called the day of First-fruits. The Man-child and Bride.): This process went on until the basket was completely filled. Then I heard the old man say to his son, “This harvest is complete; we will come back in a few weeks for the next harvest”. (I believe this to be the Bride harvest). Then comes (Eze 23:16) …and the feast of ingathering, at the end of the year, when thou gatherest in thy labors out of the field (The latter end of the year, great harvest is done by the first fruits Man-child and Bride as in the Gospel and Acts.).   Ingathering Harvest Eve Brast - 07/28/2013 (David's notes in red) I had a dream this morning that my husband (the Lord) had purchased many fruit trees (we are bought with a price) and they were all in large pots that he brought inside a mall in the center where all the halls intersected. (An intersection is a place of decision; it's time for the chosen people of God to choose. They were not dwelling in the earth. They were mobile and able to be moved around where my husband wanted to take them.) Our sons Noah, Elijah, and Josiah (representing the Man-child ministries about to pick the fruit) were running around to each tree, so excited about the different fruits on them. The trees were all at different stages of bearing fruit; some of them had young, new fruit, while others were ready to be picked. They were saying, “Wow! Look at this tree's fruit!” and “Oh, look at this one!” (The Church at different stages of bearing the fruit of Christ. The First-fruits will be there to pick the fruit of the great revival harvest.) My husband took me over to some particular trees and showed me one in particular. He was very proud of it and said, “Look at these trees. They are very special. They are potato trees”. And the potatoes were very large and ripe. I said, “I thought potatoes grew under the ground”. He said, “These are special; they grow above the ground”. (Those who were once underground in death and burial are now above ground in resurrection life, for they dwell in heavenly places in Christ.) Then he showed me two other trees right next to them (the Two Witness company). They had small leaves like a pomegranate or an olive tree. (Rev.11:3-6) And I will give unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks, standing before the Lord of the earth. And if any man desireth to hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth and devoureth their enemies; and if any man shall desire to hurt them, in this manner must he be killed. These have the power to shut the heaven, that it rain not during the days of their prophecy: and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they shall desire. He said, “Look at these! These are very special, too”. I asked, “Where is their fruit?” He replied, “The leaves are their fruit. (Leaves take in the Son/sun, enabling the tree to bear fruit.) They are for healing”. (Their leaves are for the healing of the nations. The fruit they bear is spiritual fruit, the Word of God that does bring healing to people.) (Rev.22:1,2) And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the midst of the street thereof. And on this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Then I woke up.   A Sudden Move of God Debbie Fenske - 1/16/23 (David's notes in red) During our morning Zoom meeting, the Lord allowed me to see in the Spirit those whom we would call the lowliest of people, and those addicted to every kind of sin. I could see the Spirit of the Lord suddenly coming upon them, moving in their spirits. I could discern their intense desire for God. These were dry, needy, and homeless people on the streets. (These represent spiritually homeless people as well.) I could see them dropping to their knees and raising their hands to heaven with a sudden, but awesome desire for Jesus, to truly want to know Him. Then I heard the following: “I am doing this. I am doing the work. But even My people, who know My truths, and are walking in My ways, will see, and wonder if such persons could be touched in such a way. But I say to you, ‘What a remnant I am bringing forth!' So, I warn you. I warn My people to be prepared. Be ready to receive My gift to minister to those whom I will allow you to run into as you go about your business of the day. And I say, do not let their appearance stop you from being moved by My Spirit, to minister by My Spirit as I bring you face-to-face with them. Be alert and do the work of God. Even those affluent ones who have sat before Bible teachers hearing My Word preached, and receiving it with joy, and walking in My ways to the best of their knowledge, will now suddenly receive revelation from My Spirit that they are yet so empty, and needy of the deeper truths of My Word. They are going to suddenly desire more of Me, and they will seek Me with all their hearts, praying with earnest out of a sudden yearning desire which I will suddenly impart to them. (In revivals in the past, sinners and self-righteous people suddenly, for no apparent reason, have been overcome with grief for their sins and cried out to God.) And many will find you and will truly find Me through the ministry and revelation truths you have received in Me through My Word and are so freely giving out. Be ready, My People. For I will suddenly do a quick work. Have you not heard? The harvest is ready to be picked. Therefore, I say to you, ‘Stay prepared in Me, and go forth, intentionally, into My harvest field. Drop all things that would hinder you from being My vessels. For I have called you.'” Thank you, Father! Bless us all, in Jesus' name, to receive this word from You, and to move with Your Spirit, to bring many into Your Kingdom, and into Your eternal Kingdom truths. Lord, help us all to be ready! Amen!

Living the Christian life isn't just about trying to be good or trying to do better. That will just lead to frustration. We have to understand how serious a problem we have. Guilt and shame are real, and without Jesus, we have no way to deal with guilt or shame. The only way to pay for guilt is with sacrifice. Forgiveness always costs… someone has to pay. The awesome thing about our God is that He doesn't demand our blood but offers his own. Jesus offered his own life to sacrifice for us. Once and for all. A sacrifice made on our behalf is what makes us what to “be good and do better” to experience the joy in life God wants us to have! What do we make of times in scripture where violence occurs, especially when the destruction comes because of God's commands? In this episode, Professor David M. Calabro discusses his article "'Thou Shalt Utterly Destroy': Understanding the Biblical Ḥērem", which grapples with the troubling and often misunderstood concept of ḥērem—the ritualized devotion of people, cities, and goods to God that appears in the conquest narratives of Deuteronomy and Joshua. Calabro explains that while ḥērem is frequently read today as indiscriminate violence or genocide, its ancient meaning is far more complex. Rooted linguistically in ideas of holiness and consecration, ḥērem reflects an ancient Near Eastern way of framing warfare in theological, often hyperbolic terms. By placing Israel's scriptures alongside archaeological evidence, inscriptions from neighboring cultures, and restored gospel truths, the episode shows how biblical language of total destruction functioned within a shared cultural hyperbolic idiom, and that ḥērem is not ultimately about ethnicity or nationality, but about covenant loyalty, repentance, and one's response to God.  Rather than resolving all moral and theological questions, Calabro's work invites listeners to read these texts with greater historical awareness, humility, and a willingness to work with God to understand His ways.
