What is «corruption»? What different kinds of corruption exist in our modern societies? How does corruption manifest itself in governments, corporations, the judicial system and every other sphere of our lives? To answer these questions, Pedro Pinto interviews Donatella della Porta in this episode of «It's Not That Simple», a podcast by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation. An expert on corruption, Donatella della Porta is a professor of political science, dean of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences and Director of the PhD program in Political Science and Sociology at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, where she also leads the Center on Social Movement Studies (Cosmos). Among the main topics of her research are social movements, political violence, terrorism, corruption, the police and protest policing. She has directed a major ERC project - Mobilizing for Democracy, on civil society participation in democratization processes in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Mattei Dogan Prize for distinguished achievements in the field of political sociology; in 2021, she received the Research Awards of the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung in recognition of her lifetime's research activities. She is an Honorary Doctor of the universities of Lausanne, Bucharest, Goteborg, Jyvaskyla and the University of Peloponnese. She is the author or editor of 90 books, 150 journal articles and 150 contributions in edited volumes. In this episode, della Porta discusses what the term «corruption» means and what kinds of practices constitute an act of corruption. She also examines the resiliency of corruption in our societies, how it uses the corrupt political and judicial systems to avoid criminal prosecution and thus perpetuate itself in a vicious cycle. Della Porta also addresses the evolution of corruption throughout the world in the last few decades, namely how “democratic backsliding” has been at the root of the increasing levels of corruption in many countries. Finally, della Porta considers how to fight corruption, the role of whistleblowers and how to protect them, in a conversation well worth listening to. Venus passed by the earth in close proximity to its Lithosphere causing catastrophic change on the earth: volcanoes, earthquakes, violent storms and hurricanes. Venus impact on Mars caused debris to float in spacing and asteroids rained down on the earth for nearly two decades. The book, “Earth, Moon, and Planets” Dr. Whipple predicted and postulated worlds in collision 1,500 and 4,700 years ago when a comet collided with and disrupted the planetoids that revolve by the thousands between Mars and Jupiter. Dr. Whipple studies the comet Encke and its last encounter 1,500 years ago. The first visit to the earth by the comet was in 1500 BC at the time of Mose and caused the dividing of the Red Sea. The result of the earth pass through the tail of the comet was intense heat, enormous tides, incessant violent electrical disruption between the comet and the planet. The second visit by the comet was 52 years later and coincided with Joshua's attempt to make the sun and the moon stand still. Professor Hans Pettersson of the Oceanographic Institute at Goteborg found “evidences of great catastrophes that altered the face of the earth”, “climate catastrophes”, “volcanic catastrophes”, and “tectonic catastrophes that raised or lowered the ocean bottom hundreds and event thousands of feet” spreading huge tidal waves that destroy coastal life. Petterson discovered that the Pacific and Indian ocean-beds consisted of “largely of volcano ash” that settle after an eruption. Patterson also found evidence of a heavy shower of meteors, several hundred times greater than astronomers admit. The Comet collided with Mars in 747 BC and lost its tail and became transformed into Venus. The Venus orbit became near circular. Mars orbit was affected and in 687 BC it nearly collided with Earth. At certain epoch in the past the position of Mars and Venus were identical. Olympus mon was formed as electrons streamed to the top of the mound. The surface was raised by electrical force. The summit became a focal point of negative charged area in a region surround by positive charged surface. A second discharge formed a ring around the cauldron., a Hale-Bopp discharge Mars temperature ranges from minus 23 Celsius to minus 137 Celsius. Mars has no electromagnetic shield. For Mars to have life, it must have water. Olympus Mons is 27 kilometeres above datum and the floor of the canyon system is known as Valles Marineris. Olympus Mons has 700 km lava scab, 80 km summit caldera, and a outer edge of the lava scab of 5,000 km in diameter. Valles Marineries chasm is 7 km deep and 200 km wide, four times deeper and six times wider and ten times longer than the Grand Canyon. The Valles Marineries run across the floor of the Chryse Planitia basin. Argyne, Hellas, and Isidis meteorites transformed Mars. Argyre crater is 3 km deep and 630 km wide impacted by 36 km object. Hellas is 5 km deep and 2,000 km wide impacted by a 1,00 km object. Isidis is 1,500 km wide impacted by a 50 km object. Mars has over 3,305 craters that are wider than 30 km and 93 percent lie south of the line of dichotomy. Mars gravitational pull could have broke up a passing body into fragments. The lack of a strong atmosphere would increase the likelihood of impact and may have trigger volcanic eruptions on the opposite side of Mars. Large fragments of Mars surface could have been ejected into space. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

On today's show, do dogs understand time and what is behind their internal clock? Then we take time out to celebrate the canine stars of the big screen with author and film journalist Wendy Mitchell. Can dogs tell the time? If you ever get the feeling your dog knows what time it is, you're not alone. But without telling the time in the literal sense, how do they seemingly know when it's time to eat, time to sleep or time to play fetch? The answer isn't straight forward, in fact there's more than one reason at play. We take a look at this phenomenon and some of the factors that could have you believing your dog is secretly wearing a watch. Do dogs have a concept of time? Dogs that know when their owners are coming home Wendy Mitchell, Author of Citizen Canine: Dogs in the Movies As a film industry insider and journalist, Wendy Mitchell has a unique perspective on the business. Después de un año nace "Made in Hellspain". E incluso grupos clásicos de Black metal como: Mayhem, Burzum, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child... Aunque estéticamente por grupos más clásicos como: Kiss, White Zombie, Alice Cooper, The Misfits, GWAR o Cradle Of Filth.

I particolari ce li racconta Michele Serra.

Volvo Cars says it will limit the top speed of its new cars at 180 kilometres per hours (112 miles per hour) in all markets as of next year because "too many people get seriously injured or even killed because of excessive speeding."CEO Hakan Samuelsson says Monday that "while a speed limitation is not a cure-all, it's worth doing if we can even save one life."He adds there are two other major causes of traffic fatalities — intoxication and distraction. The company cited figures from the U.S. government's highway safety agency showing that 25 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2017 were caused by speeding.Volvo Cars is based in Goteborg, Sweden, but is owned by China's Geely holding company.

Var passar hiphopen in i ekvationen?
Meet Shahbaz Kahn - traffic general in Goteborg Shahbaz is newly appointed chairman of the Traffic board of Goteborg. We have an intense discussion in Goteborg about the new train tunnel “the west link” and that discussion is something that we handle. But most important is how the world leading mobility cluster in Goteborg that has rapidly developed the last 10 years can collaborate with the city and the academy to strengthen all parties. The city is already a test arena for new technologies with the “Driveme-project” and others but we have all opportunities to develop it to a entirely new level. When it comes to banning diesel cars in the city Shahbaz is clear that he is against this kind of prohibition. This will only close the city for people with less resources and is not a tool he want to use. He wants to work with positive motivation so people voluntary pick traffic solutions that is both efficient and good for the environment. And he is very interesting in visiting Volvo Cars to explore possible opportunities to collaborate in finding both short- and long-term solutions on traffic challenges. Welcome to the conversation.

Britain is inviting the public to weigh in on draft rules allowing scientists to create embryos using DNA from three people - a man and two women. The technique aims to prevent mothers from passing on potentially fatal genetic diseases. The latest public review should be the last step before politicians consider changing the law to let doctors offer the new fertilization techniques to patients. That would make Britain the first country in the world to allow the procedure to help people have children. The British government hopes to gather as many views as possible before introducing its final regulations. The proposed rules have been published online and the government is inviting people to respond by late May. The public input isn't meant to debate whether the controversial techniques should be permitted. Instead, it concerns how they should be used to prevent relatively rare diseases caused by DNA defects. Mistakes in certain cells' genetic code can result in diseases such as heart problems and mental retardation. You're listening to NEWS Plus Special English. I'm Mark Griffiths in Beijing. A Swedish doctor says four women who received transplanted wombs have had embryos transferred into them in an attempt to get pregnant. In all, nine women in Sweden have received new wombs since 2012, but two had to have them removed because of complications. The women received wombs donated by their mothers or other close relatives. The experimental procedure is designed to test whether it's possible to transfer a uterus so a woman can give birth to her own biological child. These women had in vitro fertilization before the transplants, using their own eggs to make embryos. Dr. Mats Brannstrom, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Goteborg is leading the research. The doctor predicts that three or four of these women might successfully give birth. There have been two previous attempts to transplant a womb - in Turkey and Saudi Arabia - but both failed to produce babies. Doctors in Britain and Hungary are also planning similar operations, but using wombs from women who have recently died. This is NEWS Plus Special English. We turn to the United States. A DNA test of a pregnant woman's blood is more accurate than current methods of screening for Down's syndrome and other common disorders. If other studies bear this out, it could transform prenatal care by giving a more reliable, non-invasive way to detect these problems very early in pregnancy. That offers women a safe and accurate alternative. It would let couples decide sooner whether to have an abortion or to prepare for a major medical problem. It may also cut down on the 200,000 or more invasive tests done each year in the United States to diagnose or rule out problems with a fetus. Several companies already sell these DNA blood tests. The tests can be done when the fetus is only 9 to 10 weeks old, a couple of weeks sooner than current methods. The current methods screen for disorders caused by extra or missing chromosomes, such as Down's syndrome. Down's syndrome occurs in about one of every 700 pregnancies. The old methods are imprecise. Ultrasound and various blood tests can hint at a problem but don't directly test for one. This is NEWS Plus Special English. You're listening to NEWS Plus Special English. This report form part of the European Community Multi-Center Trial "Fetal ECG Analysis during Labor". Aim of this prospective trial was to identify changes in the fetal ECG waveform with cases of verified fetal hypoxia. In this paper we also report on the use of a newly developed automatic system for identification of ST waveform changes (ST Log). All ECG were recorded with the STAN recorder (Neoventa Medical AB, Gothenburg, Sweden). The ECG information was not displayed during labor in order not to influence the clinical management. This report includes data from 320 cases and include six cases of fetal intrapartum hypoxia. Twenty seven cases showed changes in ST waveform. All five cases with the most marked ST change (a rise in T/QRS of >0.10 units and lasting more then 10 minutes) had signs of ongoing intrapartum hypoxia. Six out of six cases with evidence of intrapartum asphyxia, showed ST changes. On the basis of our multi-center trial it appears that the combined analysis of CTG and ST waveform changes provides an accurate way to identify adverse events during labor. The work is continuing with a new STAN recorder developed by Neoventa Medical in Goteborg and currently being tested in a Swedish randomized, controlled multi-center trial.
