A gorgeous barred owl perched on a tree branch at the end of her driveway — camera in hand, several stunning shots captured. And then, an hour later, sitting with a friend in the depths of a broken relationship. Two encounters, stark in their contrast, and yet Tammy Darling found herself recognizing something profound in the space between them: beauty and pain do not cancel each other out. They coexist. And it takes love — the particular, Christ-shaped kind of love — to see the beauty that lives inside pain and call it out. In this searching and compassionate episode, Tammy refuses to look away. From the homeless man on the park bench to the woman in the grocery store line carrying fear about her future, she asks the question most of us quietly avoid: how can we stand in awe of the natural beauty of this world and not simultaneously seek out the hidden beauty in the people around us who are suffering? Romans 8:18 reminds us that present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that is coming — but Tammy takes it further, arguing that even now, in the midst of pain, beauty can be found and spoken over those who cannot yet see it in themselves. When love comes alongside pain, beauty is born. And entering someone else's pain is not a burden — it is a privilege. Today's Bible Verse "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."— Romans 8:18, NIV Ponder Today Beauty and pain can coexist — even in the same moment. We don't have to choose between marveling at the world's beauty and grieving its brokenness. Holding both at once is a mark of a heart shaped by Christ's compassion. In the eyes of the hurting, there are pools of beauty waiting to be discovered. The pain may go deep, but the beauty goes deeper. Choosing to look — truly look — at people in pain is where that beauty begins to be revealed. Sight brings responsibility. What is seen cannot be unseen. When we recognize the pain and hidden beauty in another person, we are called to speak it, to act on it, and to enter it. Seeing and doing nothing is its own kind of turning away. Love coming alongside pain is how beauty is born. Compassion, empathy, grace, and mercy are not just kind responses to suffering — they are facets of the love that Christ Himself is, and they transform pain into something redemptive. We were commanded, not suggested, to love one another as Christ loved us. John 13:34 uses the word must. We cannot pass by the wounded stranger on the road. Engaging with the pain of others is not optional for those who follow Jesus. A Prayer for You Today Dearest Jesus, though we live in a broken and fallen world, there is much beauty to behold. We thank You for the privilege of entering into the pain of others so that Your beauty may shine through, even in the darkest of places. May our days be full of compassion and love for one another. When we are hurt, may we forgive. When we are rejected, may we remember that You were too. When we see the hurting around us, may we choose to engage and ease their pain. May beauty in pain be revealed in all we do and say. In Your precious name, Amen. What do you do when faith feels impossible? In Matthew 17, Jesus reveals His glory on the mountain before stepping into a valley filled with fear, suffering and doubt. Through the Transfiguration and the healing of a demon possessed boy, we are reminded that Jesus is greater than our circumstances and worthy of our trust. Faith isn't pretending to have all the answers or never struggling with doubt. It's bringing our honest hearts to Jesus and trusting Him even when life doesn't make sense. When we fix our eyes on Christ instead of our circumstances, we discover that what seems impossible for us is never impossible for Him.

Mike shares how they tricked us into watching a remake, if it’s worth paying money to see in theaters and where he thinks it ranks in the franchise. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about The Social Reckoning, a companion piece to The Social Network which came out in 2010. It focuses on the fallout of the 2021 Facebook leaks, following whistleblower Frances Haugen and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz as they expose the company's internal secrets. Fourteen hours of excruciating pain, a hospital emergency room, and a curtain separating her from another patient's groaning and complaints — and then, just as the medicine began to kick in, a quiet and unsettling invitation in Kelly Balarie's mind: doesn't it feel good to be taken care of? Doesn't it feel nice to finally get the attention and compassion you've been needing? In this raw and spiritually perceptive episode, Kelly describes the moment she recognized that voice for exactly what it was — and refused to sign the contract it was offering. The paralytic man in John 5 had been lying on his mat for thirty-eight years. He had reasons, excuses, and circumstances that seemed to justify staying exactly where he was. But Jesus did not coddle his pain or validate his helplessness. He simply said: get up, pick up your mat, and walk. Kelly draws a clear and challenging parallel between that man's mat and the mat of self-pity we can each find ourselves lying on — sometimes without even realizing it. Pain is real, need is real, and suffering deserves compassion. But there is a difference between receiving care and making a home in helplessness. The invitation from Jesus is always the same: rise up. Take a step. Walk. Bible Verse "Then Jesus said to him, 'Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.'"— John 5:8, NIV Ponder Today Self-pity can masquerade as a need for compassion. The enemy is not above using real pain and real vulnerability to lure us into a posture of ongoing helplessness. Recognizing the difference between genuine need and self-pity is a spiritually important act. Looking to people for what only God can provide will always leave us empty. When we seek from others the validation, attention, and care that only God can truly give, we set ourselves up for deeper disappointment and deeper need. Pain is often healed as we take a new step. Healing rarely comes in full before we are asked to move. Like the paralytic who rose and walked, sometimes obedience to the command precedes the complete restoration we are longing for. Reject the enemy's contracts early. The invitation to stay down, stay sick, and stay sorry for yourself is subtle and can feel reasonable in a moment of vulnerability. Identify it, name it, and refuse it — just as Kelly did in that hospital room. A Prayer for You Today Father, help us when we feel down and out — when it seems like there is no way forward. Show us Your way instead. May we rise up according to Your strength and not our own. Help us not to look to people for what only You can truly provide. May we be strong in the power of Your might, and may we have the courage to pick up our mats and walk. In Jesus' name, Amen. Don't Miss an Episode If today's prayer stirred the courage to rise up from whatever has been holding you down, we'd love to stay connected. How do we find people who can help us carry the weight of our stories? How do we learn to experience safety in community when relationships themselves have often been the source of deep pain?Author, speaker, and podcaster Toni Collier has endured profound hardship throughout her life, including caring for a parent at a young age, surviving an abusive marriage, experiencing sexual betrayal, enduring sexual manipulation as a child, walking through two divorces, and more. Learning to trust others with the deepest parts of her story did not come easily. Yet through the healing power of what she calls a Confessional Community, Toni began experiencing layers of healing and freedom she never thought possible. In her latest book, Don't Try This Alone: How to Build Deep Community When You Want to Hide from Your Pain, Toni shares how authentic, vulnerable community can become one of the primary ways God brings healing through suffering. In this episode, Davey and Toni talk about why confession and vulnerability are such essential parts of healing, how we can become safe people that others trust with their pain, and the emotional and spiritual dangers of isolation and hidden suffering. If opening up to others has felt difficult—especially in seasons of pain, disappointment, or heartbreak—this conversation will remind you that healing was never meant to happen alone and that God often uses deep, authentic community as part of the restoration process He wants to invite you into. #217 -Pain You've Been Told Is "Normal"? It Might Not Be — The New Rules of Women's Health" If you've ever walked out of a doctor's appointment feeling dismissed, confused, or like you somehow "did it wrong," this episode is your reset. You were never meant to navigate your health blindly. In this conversation, award-winning health journalist Meghan Rabbitt pulls back the curtain on what women haven't been told — from the real impact of stress on your brain to why your period, your pregnancy history, and even your hot flashes hold critical data about your future health. This isn't surface-level wellness advice. It's the missing user manual for your body. This episode will change how you think about: Why women are still underdiagnosed, misunderstood, and under-researched — and how that affects your care The silent connection between pregnancy complications and heart disease Why your stress response is biologically different — and what it's doing to your brain right now The health signals you've been taught to ignore (heavy periods, pain, "normal" symptoms that aren't) How to walk into any doctor's appointment like a CEO, not a bystander The simple, non-negotiable habits that actually move the needle in your health Timestamps: [04:00] – "Bikini medicine" and everything it leaves out about women's health [12:00] – The link between pregnancy history, menopause symptoms, and heart disease [14:00] – The breast cancer risk test most doctors aren't talking about [31:00] – The female stress response: why burnout hits women differently [46:00] – Perimenopause decoded: what to track, what's not normal, what to do What's been normalized (but shouldn't be): Pain brushed off as "just stress." Periods that are debilitating but labeled "normal." Chronic fatigue, brain fog, and anxiety that get minimized. One of the biggest shifts in this episode: just because something is common doesn't mean it's normal. Takeaways you can use immediately: Track your symptoms like data, not complaints Bring a prioritized list to your next doctor's appointment Know your breast cancer lifetime risk score Pay attention to your cycle, stress, and digestion — they're connected Stop waiting to feel "bad enough" to take action This episode doesn't just give you information — it changes how you relate to your body. You stop outsourcing your health, stop minimizing your symptoms, and start asking better questions.
Most leaders are waiting on a dramatic, burning bush moment to tell them what their life is for. So they stall. They spin their wheels, convinced the "real" calling has not arrived yet. In this episode, Daron Earlewine sits down with Ken Primeau, lead pastor of Mercy Road Northeast, who built a thousand person church without ever planning to. Ken's whole story is a chain of small yeses. A blank check handed to God in a Panama outhouse pit, a scholarship that came through at the last second, a dream that pointed him to a state he could not find on a map, and two words he heard as his plane touched down in Indiana. If you have been measuring your life by milestones nobody handed you, this conversation reframes what a faithful, purposeful life actually looks like. KEY TAKEAWAYS: ⚡️ Purpose gets built through small steps of obedience, not one cinematic calling. ⚡️ A surrendered "blank check" yes to God strips the fear out of risk. ⚡️ Healthy leadership shares the weight instead of building everything around one personality. Recently, through conversations with other awake and aware individuals, our DTTR panelists, I realized that our physical bodies often behave as if they are the boss of our experience, but they are not. Our soul is.The body makes demands, negotiates, complains, threatens, and tries to control outcomes. Often, this happens in a completely unconscious way. Sometimes it happens so subtly that the soul mistakes it for intuition, guidance, or inner knowing. But at other times, especially when the soul has conscious communication with the body, something I have been teaching for more than a decade, we can clearly hear it trying to make the soul comply. Things like, “We had an agreement,” “This is how it's always been done,” or even, “You're abusing me.” These are not necessarily communications. Often, they are attempts to regain authority. And often they are fear-based statements. How is it that the body acts like a bully when we are trying to empower ourselves and drop negative limitations, programs, and behaviors?Because the physical body was created within a light-dark paradigm, it naturally operates through power-over-others dynamics. As humanity shifts beyond that paradigm, many of our bodies resist. Change feels dangerous to them. Like a teenager throwing a tantrum, the body may use pain, fear, fatigue, aging, illness, or stored trauma to pull your attention and decisions back under its control. It needs to keep things the same. As far as it is concerned, change is not good. Particularly massive changes such as not aging or extending life far beyond what we currently consider possible. Yes, that is possible. This does not mean the body never provides useful information. Pain can be information. Exhaustion can be information. The key is learning the difference between information and manipulation. When the body reports conditions, listen. When it starts calling the shots, remember who the boss is.What does this look like?A feeling of exhaustion may simply be information. Extreme flu-like symptoms, brain fog, or confusion that appear at exactly the moment you need to take action may be something entirely different. When you look to see what is happening, the body might say, “We need to rest. You are working too much.”Who gave it permission to make those kinds of decisions for us?Well, we did, of course.Yet although it might feel like a good reason, and that we should have rested more so as not to get sick, the truth is that the body should not have taken us to that extreme. We, as souls, have complete control over our bodies. If we only knew how.Throughout history, advanced practitioners have demonstrated extraordinary influence over their physical bodies. They remind us that consciousness directs matter, not the other way around. The body is not the boss of our experience day to day, or even lifetime after lifetime. We are. The soul is.When a nasty physical symptom, fear, or limitation becomes the center of your attention, it often gains power. When you stop feeding it authority and reclaim your sovereignty, the dynamic changes. For example, I broke an ankle, but it did not actually stop me from doing the important things. The information came in that if I did not do what my body wanted, it would keep breaking bones until I complied.Wow.Well, I can work around that. It is not the first time my body has tried to force me to do things through extreme measures, including threatening to die and leave me behind so it could follow its own path. And it has not won.The body is not malicious. It is operating exactly as it was designed to operate. The problem is not that it bullies. The problem is that we believe it has the authority to do so.We need to remember that the body is running through a crust of low-frequency programs in order for us to have a light-dark experience. Bodies, like most of our souls, are fundamentally light-only. To have dark experiences, we incorporated artificial limitations and deeply restrictive programs into ourselves. We did this both in our bodies and our souls. And there is more.Aging, for example, is reinforced by collective beliefs and social programming. The body is so entrenched in these patterns that it has forgotten that alternatives exist. As Dr. Kara, one of our Driving To The Rez panelists, pointed out recently, when one program is removed, another often rushes in to take its place, she mentioned that it feels like when we remove the personal program, the social ones take over. It acts like a failsafe designed to keep those limiting programs intact in our co-created reality of light/dark.Iliana, another panelist, observed that this can feel like layers of programming, where removing one layer simply reveals another beneath it.Expanding beyond individual and social conditioning helps the body remember what it once knew. That limitations are choices, not inevitabilities written in stone. And that the soul is the one that has the authority to make those choices. This is possible because our body exists within our soul, not the other way around. Many limitations are not simply personal programs that we integrated into our own bodies. There are also social programs in there as well. Programs we agreed to in order to enter a light/dark experience. Also, as Larry pointed out in our conversation, the body's greatest trick is convincing us that it is the one making the decisions. Its favorite tools are pleasure, discomfort, fear, and distraction. Yet none of these make it the authority over our experience or reality. They are just ways to convince us, or bully us, into compliance.Listen to your body. Care for it. Support it. But do not confuse its voice with authority. Do not assume it knows what is best for you simply because it insists that it does. The body is your companion in this experience, not your master. The authority and decision-making have always belonged to you.The soul. The discussion doesn't stop here - listen to the full podcast episode for unfiltered insights from Inelia and our panelists. In today's episode, Dr. Alison Cook reflects on the story of the man living among the tombs in Mark 5—a man whose torment had become his name. When Jesus asks, “What is your name?” he does not ask in order to shame him, but to surface what has claimed him and begin the work of setting him free. Ido Portal is one of the most original movement thinkers alive. He has spent decades studying the body across martial arts, acrobatics, yoga, dance, and ancient movement traditions, not to master any one of them, but to ask a deeper question: what does it actually mean to move well, and what does the body reveal when you finally start listening to it? In this conversation, we go long, covering ground that most movement conversations never reach. What We Dive Into:1.Most of us treat the body like a car to maintain, something we service occasionally for performance or appearance. Ido's entire framework starts from the opposite premise: the body is not a tool you use, it is what you are. That shift alone changes what practice means.2.What we attend to grows. What we neglect crumbles. Ido applies this principle everywhere, from babies in hospitals to athletes on the field. Bringing undivided attention to even one part of your body for one minute, with no music, no phone, no audience, begins a transformation most people have never experienced.3.The most important moment in Ido's own journey was admitting he didn't have what he was looking for. Not as defeat, but as a beginning. The person who thinks they already have a connection to their body is the one most closed off to finding it. Not knowing, and staying there, is the actual practice.Know Thyself, but not by yourself. Most women have been told their cycle is something to manage, track for fertility, or push through. What almost no one is saying is that your cycle is a second biological clock running inside your body at all times. The circadian rhythm is roughly 24 hours and is governed by light. The infradian rhythm is roughly 28 days and is governed by the menstrual cycle. Men have one main rhythm. Women have two. This is not a flaw in our design. It is added intelligence. In this solo episode, Michelle walks you through what is actually happening underneath the surface of each phase. Your brain structure shifts across the cycle. Your immune system, metabolism, insulin sensitivity, microbiome, and nervous system are all moving with you. You will learn why the same stressor can feel completely different from one week to the next, why luteal phase cravings are real signals and not willpower failures, and how to begin matching your work, food, and rest to the phase you are actually in. Whether you are trying to conceive or simply want to stop fighting your own body, this episode offers a more accurate map of how you are designed to function. Key Takeaways: Women have two main biological rhythms. The circadian rhythm is roughly 24 hours. The infradian rhythm is roughly 28 days and is governed by the menstrual cycle. Most lifestyle and research advice is built around the male 24-hour clock, which is part of why so many women feel exhausted. Your brain structure literally changes across the cycle. The hippocampus shifts in volume, connectivity between regions changes, and verbal fluency, spatial reasoning, and pain perception all move with the phases. Feeling like a different person at different times of the month is neurobiology, not emotional volatility. Your immune system is rhythmic. It is more active in the first half of the cycle and shifts after ovulation, when progesterone becomes mildly immunosuppressive to prepare the uterus for a possible embryo. This is why colds, autoimmune flares, and allergies can shift across the month. Basal metabolic rate rises slightly in the luteal phase, and insulin sensitivity changes. The same meal can land differently depending on where you are in your cycle. Luteal phase cravings are often a real signal of higher energy needs. The gut and vaginal microbiomes also shift cyclically with hormones. You are not a static system. Everything inside your body moves with you. Heart rate variability tends to be higher in the follicular phase and lower in the luteal phase. The same stressor can land very differently depending on when in the month it arrives. Your nervous system is operating from a different baseline. From a TCM perspective, the liver works harder in the luteal phase to prepare for menstruation, which can show up as more irritability, less energy, and stagnation when qi is not flowing freely. Working with the cycle is not just a fertility tool. It is a way of living that supports energy, focus, mood, and recovery across the entire month. Practical starting points: track more than your period (energy, sleep, mood, focus, hunger, stress response), match the work to the phase when possible, and eat in a way that responds to what your body is actually doing in each phase. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine offer a different way to understand the body, especially when it comes to chronic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, stress, digestion, anxiety, inflammation, nervous system dysregulation, and unexplained symptoms. In this episode of hol+, Dr. Taz sits down with Dr. Jordan Barber, clinician, educator, published researcher, licensed acupuncturist, and author of Thinking in Chinese Medicine: A Patient's Guide to Acupuncture, Herbs, and Healing, for a grounded conversation about what Chinese medicine actually is, why it has been misunderstood in the West, and how it can help us see chronic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, stress, symptoms, and whole-body health through a more connected lens.Together, they explore why Chinese medicine is not just acupuncture, herbs, or “energy work,” but a way of thinking. Dr. Barber explains how Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the whole person, including sleep, digestion, emotions, stress, relationships, movement, pain patterns, and the way someone experiences life. He also breaks down how the word qi became simplified into “energy,” why that translation can be misleading, and why Chinese medicine is often more practical, physiological, and science-informed than many people realize.Dr. Barber shares his own path into Chinese medicine after working in IT, living through 9/11 in New York City, and experiencing chronic health issues that conventional care did not resolve. Krill oil improved knee pain, stiffness, and physical function in people with osteoarthritis, helping participants move more comfortably during daily activities like walking and climbing stairs Older adults taking krill oil for six months improved grip strength, knee strength, and muscle thickness, which helps protect against falls, weakness, and loss of independence with age Krill oil delivers omega-3 fats in a phospholipid form that blends efficiently into your cell membranes, while its natural astaxanthin content helps protect the oil from oxidation and inflammatory damage Cheap, oxidized fish oils and diets high in seed oils worsen inflammation and interfere with healthy cellular energy production, making it harder for your joints and muscles to recover Pairing krill oil or omega-3-rich seafood with regular movement, stable dietary fats, and enough protein creates a stronger foundation for preserving cartilage, muscle function, and long-term mobility

Michael Zuber and Jason analyze the potential impact of Fed Chair Kevin Warsh on the economy, specifically regarding his hawkish stance on inflation. While some fear his policies might mirror the aggressive interest rate hikes of the 1980s, they argue that residential real estate remains a resilient asset class that can withstand higher borrowing costs. Conversely, they warn of a looming crisis in commercial and multifamily real estate, where maturing debt and rising rates are likely to trigger significant defaults. Amidst this volatility, they emphasizes the opportunity for strategic buyers to acquire distressed assets from failing syndications. Ultimately, they advocate for direct ownership of single-family homes as the most reliable path to wealth, urging investors to maintain personal control rather than relying on third-party fund managers.
