On a quiet, long weekend in May of 2011, 20-year-old Maddy Scott set out for a camping trip with friends at Hogsback Lake near Vanderhoof, British Columbia. The next morning, her truck and tent were found, but Maddy was nowhere to be seen. There were no signs of struggle or clues pointing to where she had gone, only questions. Join Jen and Cam as they discuss "Maddy Scott: The Girl Who Never Came Home." If you have any information about the disappearance and subsequent death of Maddy Scott, please call the Vanderhoof RCMP at 250-567-2222, or you can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Ep 408: Creating True Freedom and Independence In Your Life

    The Jim Fortin Podcast

Start Your Transformation Now  In this episode of the Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim explores what it really means to experience freedom and independence—not just in the external world, but within ourselves. Building on his previous discussion about “seniority,” he reveals how true liberation comes from recognizing your spiritual authority, not from wealth, status, or nationality. If you've been seeking more ease in your finances, health, or life path, Jim makes a compelling case that reclaiming your seniority is the missing key.  Diving deeper, Jim challenges cultural narratives around patriotism, belief systems, and identity that often mask as freedom but actually limit us. He unpacks how our upbringing and societal conditioning cause us to give away our power, and why managing your energy and attention is crucial for regaining it. With personal stories—including a raw account of his 39-month house build—and wisdom from his mentor Don Javier, this episode offers both spiritual insight and practical reflection on how to reclaim the independence we all crave.  This episode is your wake-up call to stop seeking freedom externally and start remembering who you already are: a powerful soul with built-in seniority. If you're ready to step into true sovereignty, this is a must-listen.  What You'll Discover in This Episode:  Why We're All Born With Seniority (02:49) You don't have to earn freedom—you came into this life with cosmic power already built in.  How Socialization and Domestication Strip Our Power (05:46) From childhood conditioning to national identity, we unknowingly give away our spiritual authority.  Your Life is the Output of How You Manage Your Energy (09:11) Jim compares your life to a factory—what you create reflects how well you manage your seniority.  A Personal Lesson: When Chaos Hijacked Jim's Power (11:59) Jim shares how his house-building process derailed his energy—and what brought him back on track.  Freedom Begins With Attention, Not Action (15:13) Managing your attention in the 3D world is the gateway to reclaiming inner power.  How Belief Systems and Patriotism Replace Seniority (21:04) Jim explains how societal labels and even religion can brand us, masking our true spiritual freedom.  A Spiritual Person Asks Nothing of No One (26:53) What Don Javier taught Jim about sovereignty, asking Source—not society—for support.  The Hidden Cost of Attachment (29:00) Freedom also means releasing the ego's grip—because what you cling to, controls you.  Discovering Your True Power as Soul (32:00) Jim closes with a powerful invitation: Know yourself as soul, and you'll know true freedom.  Listen, apply, and enjoy!  Transformational Takeaway  Your true independence isn't found in your passport, your bank account, or your job title. It's in your seniority—your deep knowing that you are soul, Source, and creator. When you stop letting beliefs, fears, and attachments define you, you'll remember the truth: you are free because you are. Let go of the need to control, release the illusions of security, and return to the inner sovereignty that was never lost—only forgotten. Freedom isn't out there. It's already within you.  Let's Connect:  Instagram | Facebook | YouTube | LinkedIn  LIKED THE EPISODE?  If you're the kind of person who likes to help others, then share this with your friends and family. They Create Worlds

TCW Podcast Episode 238 - Quake   We dive into the development of Quake, the ambitious and turbulent follow-up to Doom from ID Software. John Carmack set out to build a groundbreaking engine featuring full 3D rendering, dynamic lighting, and client-server multiplayer. This pushed the technical boundaries in a pre-GPU world. To achieve this, he brought in legendary programmer Michael Abrash from Microsoft, selling him on the vision of Quake as a step toward the metaverse as imagined in Snow Crash. Meanwhile, John Romero envisioned Quake as a fantasy RPG inspired by a character from his D&D campaign, but lack of direction and his growing obsession with Deathmatch led to team frustration and eventual fallout. The result was a game that redefined first-person shooters and laid the groundwork for decades of engine development. It also marked the end of an era at ID with the ouster of John Romero.   TCW 030 - DOOM!: https://podcast.theycreateworlds.com/e/doom-1479057917/ TCW 197 - The ID of Game Development: https://podcast.theycreateworlds.com/e/the-id-of-game-development/ Doom States and DeHackEd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTa3diypjv4 P2P vs Dedicated Servers?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt3ZLHKcP2U Token Ring - The Betamax of Networking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjLctlmZSp4 Artie - The Strongest Man In the World: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6Bh3LskNbs Space Strike (DOS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtDdEuKFQps Cosmic Crusader (DOS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKOTa5iQAw8 Big Top (DOS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXUCacgF72M Snack Attack II (DOS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hu-SEjcnnjo So You Haven't Read "Snow Crash": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO64ZhBYy9E Ramblings in Realtime by Michael Abrash: https://www.bluesnews.com/abrash/ QuakeWorld Launch Event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXw6BkZ-gdY Quake (DOS 6.22): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyLC1vR9oGk Quake Longplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7GagGXXUtI Excerpt Quake Postmortem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2OE-74bTQw   New episodes are on the 1st and 15th of every month!   TCW Email: feedback@theycreateworlds.com  Twitter: @tcwpodcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/theycreateworlds Alex's Video Game History Blog: http://videogamehistorian.wordpress.com Alex's book, published Dec 2019, is available at CRC Press and at major on-line retailers: http://bit.ly/TCWBOOK1     Intro Music: Josh Woodward - Airplane Mode -  Music - "Airplane Mode" by Josh Woodward. The James Sarcoma Program continues to grow, with the recent opening of the multidisciplinary Sarcoma Clinic, new and cutting-edge clinical trials and a project in Ecuador to train doctors to treat sarcoma patients. “The entire continuum of cancer care is improving and that's why it's important to have a multi-disciplinary team and clinic, so patients have access to all these advances,” said Joel Mayerson, MD, director of the James Sarcoma Program. Mayerson described the recent advances made by the Sarcoma Program. A renowned sarcoma surgeon, in recent years Mayerson has been utilizing 3D printing to create replacement “bones” for sarcoma patients. “We can take scans and create [with the 3D printer] ‘bones' the exact size of what we remove.” In a new clinical trial “we've found that if we give immunotherapy concurrently with radiation therapy it helps the radiation works better,” Mayerson said, adding “we have the first proton radiation center in Ohio and that allows us to hone the beam to a smaller area and damages less tissue.” Mayerson and the sarcoma team have been collaborating with the world-class veterinarians at Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center to create a probe that allows surgeons to see, in real time during surgery, the difference between normal tissue and tumorous tissue. Seeing the difference enables surgeons to remove less normal tissue, which leads to better function and quality of life for patients. “We used pilot data funded by Steps for Sarcoma to apply for and receive an Ohio State President's Accelerator grant,” Mayerson said. Steps for Sarcoma is the annual fundraising walk; the next Steps will be held September 21. After operating on a patient from Ecuador, Mayerson and the sarcoma team “were asked to help build the program there,” he said. An Ecuadorian surgeon spent a year at the James working with Mayerson and his team, additional physicians will be trained and “our sarcoma tumor board helps guide them in treating their sarcoma patients … This has been one of the most satisfying things I've done in my career, to know that we're impacting patients a couple thousand miles away.”

In this episode of The ICHE Podcast, David Calfee joined by three experts who contributed to the development of the updated SHEA guidance on high-level disinfection (HLD) and sterilization: Dr. Emily Sickbert-Bennett, Dr. Audrey Calderwood, and Dr. Erica Shenoy. Together, they bring expertise in infection prevention and hospital epidemiology to a discussion of what's new, what's changed, and how this guidance can be applied in real-world settings. The episode begins by exploring why an update to the 2008 CDC guideline was necessary and how this new document builds upon and clarifies existing practices. The speakers walk through the multi-year process that began in 2018, outlining the rigorous evidence review and unanimous consensus required for each recommendation. They also clarify what was considered out of scope, including topics such as low-level disinfection, environmental cleaning, and access or cost concerns. Listeners will learn how to interpret the guidance within their own institutions, including when no formal recommendation is provided due to insufficient evidence. The episode highlights emerging technologies like disposable scopes, 3D printed devices, and borescopes—discussing which are ready for clinical use and which require further evaluation. To close, each guest offers a practical action item to help listeners improve safety and quality related to HLD and sterilization in their own facilities. This is a must-listen for anyone involved in infection prevention, reprocessing, or clinical safety.

For decades, chromatographic purification has made use of bead-based diffusion - a reliable but limiting approach, especially as new modalities like gene therapies, mRNA, and viral vectors push the boundaries of what's possible. But what if the future of downstream processing lies not in incremental improvement, but in a dramatic reimagining - from slow diffusion to rapid convection? In this episode, David Brühlmann meets Scott Wheelwright, Chairman, CTO and Co-Founder of BioChromatographix International (BCI). Scott brings decades of expertise in biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing. Prior to BCI, he co-founded Biolnno Bioscience, a leading CDMO, and co-founded Innovent Biologics, one of China's foremost biotechnology companies. Here are three compelling reasons to tune into this episode:Breaking the Mold of Purification: BCI's AXISFLOW™ Platform moves beyond bead-based processes, using advanced 3D-printed monoliths that enable convective flow, making purification of large biomolecules and viruses faster, more efficient, and better suited for next-generation therapies.Innovation Starts with Imagination (and Measurement): True progress in bioprocessing often hinges not on what we can make, but on what we can accurately measure and imagine. In this episode of the PBL Simplified Podcast, host Ryan Steuer talks with leadership expert Matt Kutz to discuss the essence of leadership, the importance of inspiration, and the framework outlined in Kutz's upcoming book, Becoming Epic. They explore the concepts of excellence, perception, and the need for leaders to recharge and find inspiration outside of work. The conversation emphasizes the significance of self-awareness and the impact of leadership on others, while also introducing the idea of "3D thinking freefall" as a method to unlock creativity. The episode concludes with practical advice on managing and developing one's future self. Takeaways Leadership is the lid of the work that happens in schools. Inspiration is the driving force behind effective leadership. The Epic Framework includes excellence, perception, inspiration, and compassion. Perfectionism hinders excellence and should be avoided. Self-awareness is crucial for effective leadership. Compassion for oneself leads to compassion for others. Inspiration often strikes outside of work environments. 3D thinking freefall enhances creativity and problem-solving. Leaders should model the behavior they want to see in others. How to maintain character consistency, style consistency, etc in an AI video. Prosumers can use Google Veo 3's "High-Quality Chaining" for fast social media content. Indie filmmakers can achieve narrative consistency by combining Midjourney V7 for style, Kling for lip-synced dialogue, and Runway Gen-4 for camera control, while professional studios gain full control with a layered ComfyUI pipeline to output multi-layer EXR files for standard VFX compositing. Links Notes and resources at ocdevel.com/mlg/mla-27 Try a walking desk - stay healthy & sharp while you learn & code Descript - my favorite AI audio/video editor AI Audio Tool Selection Music: Use Suno for complete songs or Udio for high-quality components for professional editing. Sound Effects: Use ElevenLabs' SFX for integrated podcast production or SFX Engine for large, licensed asset libraries for games and film. Voice: ElevenLabs gives the most realistic voice output. Murf.ai offers an all-in-one studio for marketing, and Play.ht has a low-latency API for developers. Open-Source TTS: For local use, StyleTTS 2 generates human-level speech, Coqui's XTTS-v2 is best for voice cloning from minimal input, and Piper TTS is a fast, CPU-friendly option. I. Prosumer Workflow: Viral Video Goal: Rapidly produce branded, short-form video for social media. This method bypasses Veo 3's weaker native "Extend" feature. Toolchain Image Concept: GPT-4o (API: GPT-Image-1) for its strong prompt adherence, text rendering, and conversational refinement. Video Generation: Google Veo 3 for high single-shot quality and integrated ambient audio. Soundtrack: Udio for creating unique, "viral-style" music. Assembly: CapCut for its standard short-form editing features. Workflow Create Character Sheet (GPT-4o): Generate a primary character image with a detailed "locking" prompt, then use conversational follow-ups to create variations (poses, expressions) for visual consistency. Generate Video (Veo 3): Use "High-Quality Chaining." Clip 1: Generate an 8s clip from a character sheet image. Extract Final Frame: Save the last frame of Clip 1. Clip 2: Use the extracted frame as the image input for the next clip, using a "this then that" prompt to continue the action. Repeat as needed. Create Music (Udio): Use Manual Mode with structured prompts ([Genre: ...], [Mood: ...]) to generate and extend a music track. Final Edit (CapCut): Assemble clips, layer the Udio track over Veo's ambient audio, add text, and use "Auto Captions." Export in 9:16. II. Indie Filmmaker Workflow: Narrative Shorts Goal: Create cinematic short films with consistent characters and storytelling focus, using a hybrid of specialized tools. Toolchain Visual Foundation: Midjourney V7 to establish character and style with --cref and --sref parameters. Dialogue Scenes: Kling for its superior lip-sync and character realism. B-Roll/Action: Runway Gen-4 for its Director Mode camera controls and Multi-Motion Brush. Voice Generation: ElevenLabs for emotive, high-fidelity voices. Edit & Color: DaVinci Resolve for its integrated edit, color, and VFX suite and favorable cost model. Workflow Create Visual Foundation (Midjourney V7): Generate a "hero" character image. Use its URL with --cref --cw 100 to create consistent character poses and with --sref to replicate the visual style in other shots. Assemble a reference set. Create Dialogue Scenes (ElevenLabs -> Kling): Generate the dialogue track in ElevenLabs and download the audio. In Kling, generate a video of the character from a reference image with their mouth closed. Use Kling's "Lip Sync" feature to apply the ElevenLabs audio to the neutral video for a perfect match. Create B-Roll (Runway Gen-4): Use reference images from Midjourney. Apply precise camera moves with Director Mode or add localized, layered motion to static scenes with the Multi-Motion Brush. Assemble & Grade (DaVinci Resolve): Edit clips and audio on the Edit page. On the Color page, use node-based tools to match shots from Kling and Runway, then apply a final creative look. III. Professional Studio Workflow: Full Control Goal: Achieve absolute pixel-level control, actor likeness, and integration into standard VFX pipelines using an open-source, modular approach. Toolchain Core Engine: ComfyUI with Stable Diffusion models (e.g., SD3, FLUX). VFX Compositing: DaVinci Resolve (Fusion page) for node-based, multi-layer EXR compositing. Control Stack & Workflow Train Character LoRA: Train a custom LoRA on a 15-30 image dataset of the actor in ComfyUI to ensure true likeness. Build ComfyUI Node Graph: Construct a generation pipeline in this order: Loaders: Load base model, custom character LoRA, and text prompts (with LoRA trigger word). ControlNet Stack: Chain multiple ControlNets to define structure (e.g., OpenPose for skeleton, Depth map for 3D layout). IPAdapter-FaceID: Use the Plus v2 model as a final reinforcement layer to lock facial identity before animation. AnimateDiff: Apply deterministic camera motion using Motion LoRAs (e.g., v2_lora_PanLeft.ckpt). KSampler -> VAE Decode: Generate the image sequence. Export Multi-Layer EXR: Use a node like mrv2SaveEXRImage to save the output as an EXR sequence (.exr). Configure for a professional pipeline: 32-bit float, linear color space, and PIZ/ZIP lossless compression. This preserves render passes (diffuse, specular, mattes) in a single file. Composite in Fusion: In DaVinci Resolve, import the EXR sequence. Use Fusion's node graph to access individual layers, allowing separate adjustments to elements like color, highlights, and masks before integrating the AI asset into a final shot with a background plate.

Go read this! https://IdentityBasedmanifesting.comWrite me 3 headlines for this. I get flooded with motivational videos people send me all day. And guess what? I almost never watch 'em. Why? Simple. I don't need motivating. I don't need someone else firing me up. Know why? Because I'm already manifesting. You see, if you're truly manifesting from your chosen state—your real desired identity—you'll never need motivation. Motivation is something people chase when they haven't changed who they are yet. They're still stuck in their old identity, hoping something outside them can jumpstart their engine. Here's the kicker—those folks always have plenty of time. Time to watch, time to share, time to talk about motivation. You know why? Because they aren't busy living the adventure. They haven't stepped fully into their new identity. They're still tip-toeing around the edges, hesitating. That's why they get tired, worn out, drained. And what happens next? They blame their subconscious. "Oh, it's self-sabotage! It's my subconscious holding me back!" Or maybe it's the moon, right? A new moon, a full moon—some cosmic nonsense. They start chasing silly stuff because they've denied the simple truth:You gotta change YOU first. This is why we teach something we call "stacking your states." It's simple, it's effective, and it's bulletproof. Forget going to war with the 3D world. You're wasting your time. Forget mantras and meditation. They're fine, sure, but that's not manifesting.Manifesting happens when you change YOU. When you stack states, you're not just changing what you see—you're changing WHO is doing the seeing. Read that again. It's not about making little mind movies and looking around to see if the world changed. It's about stepping into your chosen identity so powerfully that what you see naturally shifts because YOU have shifted. If this feels forced or fake, good—you've noticed you're still stuck in the old you. You're feeling resistance because your old identity is kicking and screaming against real change. Here's the truth nobody else is telling you:It's not enough to visualize. You've gotta actually become the new identity. Stop going halfway. Dive in completely. Live from your chosen state, your chosen identity. When you do that, motivation becomes a joke because you'll be too busy living the life you've imagined.Let that sink in.Until next time, my name's Mr. Twenty Twenty. Keep exploring that wonder-working power of your imagination. Catch you soon.

Now I Really Won That AI Bet

In June 2022, I bet a commenter $100 that AI would master image compositionality by June 2025. DALL-E2 had just come out, showcasing the potential of AI art. But it couldn't follow complex instructions; its images only matched the “vibe” of the prompt. For example, here were some of its attempts at “a red sphere on a blue cube, with a yellow pyramid on the right, all on top of a green table”. At the time, I wrote: I'm not going to make the mistake of saying these problems are inherent to AI art. My guess is a slightly better language model would solve most of them…for all I know, some of the larger image models have already fixed these issues. These are the sorts of problems I expect to go away with a few months of future research. Commenters objected that this was overly optimistic. AI was just a pattern-matching “stochastic parrot”. It would take a deep understanding of grammar to get a prompt exactly right, and that would require some entirely new paradigm beyond LLMs. For example, from Vitor: Why are you so confident in this? The inability of systems like DALL-E to understand semantics in ways requiring an actual internal world model strikes me as the very heart of the issue. We can also see this exact failure mode in the language models themselves. They only produce good results when the human asks for something vague with lots of room for interpretation, like poetry or fanciful stories without much internal logic or continuity. Not to toot my own horn, but two years ago you were naively saying we'd have GPT-like models scaled up several orders of magnitude (100T parameters) right about now (https://readscottalexander.com/posts/ssc-the-obligatory-gpt-3-post#comment-912798). I'm registering my prediction that you're being equally naive now. Truly solving this issue seems AI-complete to me. I'm willing to bet on this (ideas on operationalization welcome). So we made a bet! All right. My proposed operationalization of this is that on June 1, 2025, if either if us can get access to the best image generating model at that time (I get to decide which), or convince someone else who has access to help us, we'll give it the following prompts: 1. A stained glass picture of a woman in a library with a raven on her shoulder with a key in its mouth 2. An oil painting of a man in a factory looking at a cat wearing a top hat 3. A digital art picture of a child riding a llama with a bell on its tail through a desert 4. A 3D render of an astronaut in space holding a fox wearing lipstick 5. Pixel art of a farmer in a cathedral holding a red basketball We generate 10 images for each prompt, just like DALL-E2 does. If at least one of the ten images has the scene correct in every particular on 3/5 prompts, I win, otherwise you do. Loser pays winner $100, and whatever the result is I announce it on the blog (probably an open thread). If we disagree, Gwern is the judge. Some image models of the time refused to draw humans, so we agreed that robots could stand in for humans in pictures that required them. In September 2022, I got some good results from Google Imagen and announced I had won the three-year bet in three months. Commenters yelled at me, saying that Imagen still hadn't gotten them quite right and my victory declaration was premature. The argument blew up enough that Edwin Chen of Surge, an “RLHF and human LLM evaluation platform”, stepped in and asked his professional AI data labelling team. Their verdict was clear: the AI was bad and I was wrong. Rather than embarrass myself further, I agreed to wait out the full length of the bet and re-evaluate in June 2025. The bet is now over, and official judge Gwern agrees I've won. Before I gloat, let's look at the images that got us here. https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/now-i-really-won-that-ai-bet

You have to hand it to Peden Jones. He really has a grasp on the mechanics of 3D printing — and he's not stingy with it. Why, when they came calling, he lent the College of Liberal Arts a helping hand without hesitation. No sir, it's not hard to put a finger on what makes this mechanical engineering graduate research assistant special. Simply put, he believes in the human touch — and the almost-human, too.

Meanwhile, Christopher Lee torments patients and we try to make sense of the movie's time loops and pub dances. Then, Saw 3D slices its way into the mix with recycled traps, twisted beef, and bad 3D—because we're doing all the 7s this summer, no matter how dull the blade. Also: Frankie Freako drops like Garbage Pail Kids meets Gremlins with Home Alone rage traps—zany, gross, and a little dimensional. MLA 025 AI Image Generation: Midjourney vs Stable Diffusion, GPT-4o, Imagen & Firefly

The 2025 generative AI image market is a trade-off between aesthetic quality, instruction-following, and user control. This episode analyzes the key platforms, comparing Midjourney's artistic output against the superior text generation and prompt adherence of GPT-4o and Imagen 4, the commercial safety of Adobe Firefly, and the total customization of Stable Diffusion. Links Notes and resources at ocdevel.com/mlg/mla-25 Try a walking desk - stay healthy & sharp while you learn & code Build the future of multi-agent software with AGNTCY. The State of the Market The market is split by three core philosophies: The "Artist" (Midjourney): Prioritizes aesthetic excellence and cinematic output, sacrificing precise user control and instruction following. The "Collaborator" (GPT-4o, Imagen 4): Extensions of LLMs that excel at conversational co-creation, complex instruction following, and integration into productivity workflows. The "Sovereign Toolkit" (Stable Diffusion): An open-source engine offering users unparalleled control, customization, and privacy in exchange for technical engagement. Table 1: 2025 Generative AI Image Tool At-a-Glance Comparison Tool Parent Company Access Method(s) Pricing Core Strength Best For Midjourney v7 Midjourney, Inc. Features: Web UI with Draft Mode, user personalization, emerging video/3D. Weaknesses: Poor text generation, poor prompt adherence, public images on cheap plans, no API/bans automation. OpenAI GPT-4o: An intelligent co-creator for controlled generation. Features: Conversational refinement, superior text rendering, understands uploaded image context. Weaknesses: Slower than competitors, generates one image at a time, strict content filters. Google Imagen 4: Pragmatic tool focused on speed and ecosystem integration. Features: High-quality photorealism, fast generation, strong text rendering, multilingual. Weaknesses: Less artistic flair; value is dependent on Google ecosystem investment. Stable Diffusion 3: Open-source engine for maximum user control. Features: MMDiT architecture improves prompt/text handling, scalable models, vast ecosystem (LoRAs/ControlNet). Weaknesses: Steep learning curve, quality is user-dependent. Adobe Firefly: Focused on commercial safety and professional workflow integration. Features: Trained on Adobe Stock for legal indemnity, Generative Fill/Expand tools. Weaknesses: Creative range limited by training data, requires Adobe subscription/credits. Tools and Concepts In-painting: Modifying a masked area inside an image. Out-painting: Extending an image beyond its original borders. LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation): A small file that applies a fine-tuned style, character, or concept to a base model. ControlNet: Uses a reference image (e.g., pose, sketch) to enforce the composition, structure, or pose of the output. A1111 vs. ComfyUI: Two main UIs for Stable Diffusion. A1111 is a beginner-friendly tabbed interface; ComfyUI is a node-based interface for complex, efficient, and automated workflows. Workflows "Best of Both Worlds": Generate aesthetic base images in Midjourney, then composite, edit, and add text with precision in Photoshop/Firefly. Single-Ecosystem: Work entirely within Adobe Creative Cloud or Google Workspace for seamless integration, commercial safety (Adobe), and convenience (Google). "Build Your Own Factory": Use ComfyUI to build automated, multi-step pipelines for consistent character generation, advanced upscaling, and video. Decision Framework Choose by Goal: Fine Art/Concept Art: Midjourney. Logos/Ads with Text: GPT-4o, Google Imagen 4, or specialist Ideogram. Consistent Character in Specific Pose: Stable Diffusion with a Character LoRA and ControlNet (OpenPose). Editing/Expanding an Existing Photo: Adobe Photoshop with Firefly. Exclusion Rules: If you need legible text, exclude Midjourney. If you need absolute privacy or zero cost (post-hardware), Stable Diffusion is the only option. If you need guaranteed commercial legal safety, use Adobe Firefly. If you need an API for a product, use OpenAI or Google; automating Midjourney is a bannable offense.

Today, we're joined by Fatih Porikli, senior director of technology at Qualcomm AI Research for an in-depth look at several of Qualcomm's accepted papers and demos featured at this year's CVPR conference. We start with “DiMA: Distilling Multi-modal Large Language Models for Autonomous Driving,” an end-to-end autonomous driving system that incorporates distilling large language models for structured scene understanding and safe planning motion in critical "long-tail" scenarios. We explore how DiMA utilizes LLMs' world knowledge and efficient transformer-based models to significantly reduce collision rates and trajectory errors. We then discuss “SharpDepth: Sharpening Metric Depth Predictions Using Diffusion Distillation,” a diffusion-distilled approach that combines generative models with metric depth estimation to produce sharp, accurate monocular depth maps. Additionally, Fatih also shares a look at Qualcomm's on-device demos, including text-to-3D mesh generation, real-time image-to-video and video-to-video generation, and a multi-modal visual question-answering assistant. Start Your Transformation Now  In this episode of the Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim shares an intimate and powerful conversation with Don Xavier, a sorcerer and spiritual teacher, about the concept of cosmic seniority. Through personal anecdotes and ancient wisdom, Jim explains that we are not just passive beings in a chaotic world—we are divine co-creators with the universe itself. Drawing from a dinner dialogue with Don avier, this episode explores the immense creative and healing power that lives within us, and how we unknowingly give it away to external forces like fear, ego, and the 3D world. Jim breaks down what it means to reclaim our seniority—the energetic authority we carry as conscious souls on this planet. He dives into how dis-ease begins in the mind, how modern medicine often strips us of our power, and why it's vital to recognize that we are in charge of our reality. Whether you're navigating a health crisis, financial difficulty, or spiritual confusion, this episode will remind you that you already have everything within you to transform your life—if you learn to manage your energy and remember who you truly are. If you've ever felt disconnected from your purpose, your health, or your power—this episode is your call to remember. It's time to stop giving your energy away and start living from your cosmic seniority. What You'll Discover in This Episode:  Don Xavier on Disease and Divine Intelligence (03:00) Illness begins in the mind and manifests in the body—your health is a reflection of your harmony with the universe.  The Power of Seniority and Energetic Responsibility (10:00) Your energy is your power, and reclaiming it is the key to healing, creating, and living fully.  Why You Are on This Planet but Not of This Planet (13:30) Understanding your divine origin shifts how you approach life, fear, and your sense of belonging.  How Modern Medicine Can Strip Away Your Power (18:00) Jim shares how giving seniority to doctors and institutions can limit healing and keep us in “mediocrity.”  We're Always Creating—Even as Newborns (16:30) You are a creator from birth, and your energy impacts others and yourself from the start.  Matter Creates Matter—And Why That's Empowering (26:00) You can shape your physical reality when you consciously co-create with the universe through your energy.  Listen, apply, and enjoy!  Transformational Takeaway  You are not here to surrender your power to external forces—you are here to master it. The universe lives within you, in your organs, in your consciousness, and in your ability to choose. Every moment, you're either evolving or devolving. The difference? Your awareness of your seniority. You are the artist of your life, painting with the brush of divine intelligence. So choose presence over panic, soul over struggle, and power over passivity. Life is not happening to you—it's happening through you.
