“We're part of the governance mechanism telcos need for AI to be safe, secure, and performant,” said Stephen Douglas, Head of Market Strategy at Spirent. In this Technology Reseller News podcast, Publisher Doug Green interviews Stephen Douglas of Spirent, one of the world's leading test, measurement, and assurance providers for the ICT sector. The conversation takes a deep dive into how telecom service providers are uniquely positioned to lead in the era of sovereign AI — and why rigorous testing and assurance will be critical to their success. As AI moves from training clusters into live consumer and enterprise applications, the demands on network infrastructure are shifting dramatically. From unpredictable traffic bursts to strict data sovereignty regulations, Douglas explains how these changes represent both a threat and an opportunity for telcos. Central to the discussion is the concept of Sovereign AI — the idea that governments and mission-critical industries will require localized, compliant, and secure AI infrastructures. Far from being a constraint, Douglas argues this trend offers telcos a new chance to move beyond the “fat dumb pipe” role and become national AI enablers. By leveraging their deep, distributed infrastructure, trusted relationships, and regulatory experience, service providers can offer GPU-as-a-service, AI model orchestration, and privacy-compliant platforms. But as Douglas warns, with opportunity comes accountability. Telcos will need to validate AI model behavior, prevent hallucinations, ensure security doesn't degrade performance, and continuously test compliance. Spirent, Douglas notes, plays a crucial role in enabling this transformation: “From performance validation to continuous compliance audits, we're helping service providers become the trusted AI platforms of the future.” To learn more about Spirent: https://www.spirent.com

In this episode, Dave talks about the recent IPO of a major Chinese Amazon seller, SainStore, and explores key insights from their filings. He covers the diverse brand strategies employed by the company (and a lot of other Chinese companies, in fact), the viability of the aggregator model in China, and the company's profitability metrics, inventory management practices, and even their social credit score.  Another Amazon seller has gone public... but in China.  It seems that the aggregator model has been working well over in the East, but what specifically are they doing to succeed?  Here's the 5 takeaways that I learned when looking over this company's IPO fillings.  Struggling with tariffs? Unsure about upcoming changes? Let's talk! With Portless, you only pay tariffs after your customers pay you – so your cash always moves faster than your costs. Schedule a risk assessment and leverage tariff deferment today. All new customers get $1,000 to reinvest in their business. The Big Takeaways The aggregator model in China is thriving, with companies creating multiple brands in-house (rather than purchasing companies at 4x and 5x). Profit margins for major Chinese sellers are significantly lower than Western expectations. SainSmart holds about 25% of their revenue in inventory, which could turn out to be a HUGE risk in cash flow. The social credit score in China is a real and impactful metric for businesses. 75% of SainSmart's revenue comes from Amazon, but they also diversify across other channels that you wouldn't expect. The need for sellers to chase off-Amazon sales for better pricing power is ABSOLUTELY crucial. Chinese sellers are adept at utilizing multiple sales channels, including lesser-known marketplaces. The business model for Amazon sellers is evolving towards higher revenue with lower margins. Founders overvalue revenue in the early days. The first 10 customers are about learning. Nothing you build next will matter if you don't have a tight feedback loop.  That's how Jason Moolenaar approached the launch of Sentient. A tool that fixes one of the most expensive blind spots in B2B sales: the time lag between form fills and follow-ups.  He knew the problem firsthand, but he didn't rush to scale. He optimized for speed, feedback, and reality checks. Most founders don't. Highlights include: Validating Within your Network (03:53), Predictable Channels for Early Growth (14:21), Niching Down (19:05), The Sweet PMF Feeling (23:35), And more… Stay updated with our podcast and the latest insights in Outbound Sales and Go-to-Market Strategies!

Navigating the Stock Market: Strategies for Long-Term Investing Success

Inspired Money

Play Episode Listen Later May 21, 2025 100:33

Why This Episode Is a Must-Listen  The stock market feels more complex than ever—rising inflation, shifting interest rates, and non-stop headlines can rattle even the most seasoned investors. If you want to cut through the noise and build a long-term investing strategy that works, you'll want to hear directly from professionals who have navigated everything from market booms to bear cycles. This episode of Inspired Money brings together four leading investment minds to share real-world tactics, mindsets, and frameworks for surviving—and thriving—over the long haul. Meet the Expert Panelists David Stein is the founder of Money for the Rest of Us and a former institutional investment strategist who managed billions in assets as Chief Portfolio Strategist at FEG Investment Advisors. He now educates individuals through his top-ranked podcast, best-selling book, and investment tools platform Asset Camp, helping investors build resilient portfolios with confidence and clarity. https://moneyfortherestofus.com  https://assetcamp.com      Mariko Gordon, CFA, CFP® is the CEO of Uzume LLC, where she provides financial planning and consulting services to individuals and families. She previously founded and built Daruma Capital Management into a $2.5 billion firm with a distinctive, non-traditional approach to investing. With over 30 years of experience as a small-cap stock picker, she now helps clients navigate personal finance, entrepreneurship, and life transitions, drawing from her deep expertise in business, investing, and her multicultural heritage.  https://marikogordon.com https://www.uzumellc.com   Mike Taylor is the Lead Portfolio Manager of the Simplify Health Care ETF (PINK), the first 100% pro bono ETF with all net profits benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. With over two decades of experience managing long/short healthcare equity portfolios at firms like Citadel, Millennium, and Diamondback Capital, Mike is widely recognized for running one of Wall Street's top-performing healthcare hedge funds.  https://www.simplify.us   Chris Wang, Managing Partner and Director of Research at Runnymede Capital Management, previously held roles as a research analyst and Assistant Portfolio Manager at TIAA-CREF. With over two decades of experience, Chris is known for Runnymede's unwavering integrity and distinguished track record in safeguarding clients' assets during turbulent financial times.  www.runnymede.com  Key Highlights: Building Resilient Portfolios David emphasizes the importance of asset allocation and diversification rather than focusing solely on picking individual stocks. By thinking like an endowment and blending global equities, bonds, and real assets, even individual investors can manage risk over time. He suggests, “As individuals, we can't just naively invest in the S&P 500 and hope things will go well… Our job is to understand the drivers and manage more like an institution.” Investing vs. Gambling Mariko draws a clear line between investing and speculation: investing has a positive expected return and is grounded in a long-term horizon and strong fundamentals, while gambling is driven by short-term bets and speculation. Her practical advice: “Do it for 10% of your portfolio and learn from your mistakes… Put most of your money elsewhere.” Adapting to Market Realities Mike shares that success in the market isn't about being right most of the time, but about surviving your mistakes and adapting. He reveals that the best hedge fund managers aren't right every day, but consistently compound small advantages: “The difference between a manager who's good versus great is literally 3% of days up more. And that, compounded, is your return.”  Staying Rational in Volatile Markets Chris highlights the importance of sticking to a disciplined, research-driven strategy—and knowing when to be aggressive or defensive based on business cycles. Emotional investing and impulsive changes hurt performance. “Sometimes you just have to step away from the screen… avoiding the headlines and reading [only] on Sundays can help you keep perspective,” he says. Call-to-Action So here's your assignment for the week: Take 15 minutes and review your current investments. Ask yourself: Am I clear on why I own each holding? If you can't answer that confidently, dig in. Is it a value play? A growth opportunity? A dividend payer? Or something you heard about on social media?  Clarity is the first step toward confidence — and confident investors stay the course.  Find the Inspired Money channel on YouTube or listen to Inspired Money in your favorite podcast player. Arvind Parthiban, CEO of Super Ops, discusses the company's growth strategy following a recent $25 million Series C funding round. With a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), Super Ops aims to enhance its platform for managed service providers (MSPs) by developing innovative features that streamline IT management. Parthiban emphasizes the importance of being close to customers, revealing plans to relocate the leadership team to the U.S. and expand into European markets. The company is committed to building a strong presence in the MSP sector, leveraging AI to transform service delivery.Parthiban differentiates Super Ops' approach to AI from competitors by viewing it as a foundational element rather than a mere feature. He argues that while many companies are integrating AI functionalities, true differentiation lies in how these technologies are applied to solve real-world problems for MSPs. Super Ops has invested in a dedicated AI team in New Zealand, focusing on creating meaningful tools that enhance operational efficiency and service quality for its users. The conversation also touches on the challenges of data access for AI development. Parthiban acknowledges that while Super Ops has a growing customer base, competitors with larger datasets may have an advantage. However, he believes that the company can still leverage its existing data and partnerships to create valuable AI-driven insights and automation tools. He asserts that the focus should not solely be on data volume but also on the quality and applicability of the AI solutions being developed. Finally, Parthiban addresses concerns regarding Super Ops' marketing strategies, which some MSPs have described as aggressive. He defends the company's approach, likening it to common practices in the tech industry, while also expressing a desire to build trust within the MSP community. He clarifies that while the company is not currently monetizing its AI features, it plans to ensure that MSPs see tangible value before implementing any pricing changes. This strategy reflects a commitment to fostering long-term relationships with customers as the industry evolves.
