This podcast explores the newly released 2025-2030 USDA/HHS Dietary Guidelines for Americans. This health reboot represents a fundamental shift toward real, whole foods to combat the rising tide of chronic disease and obesity. Moving away from clinical calculations, the new standards prioritize protein intake at every meal, the consumption of full-fat dairy without added sugars, and a diet rich in produce and healthy fats. This policy overhaul explicitly discourages ultra-processed foods and refined carbohydrates, aiming to simplify nutritional advice into a common-sense framework. Ultimately, the success of this nutrition reboot depends on making these nutrient-dense options affordable and accessible for the average family. You can read the full post here and access the transcript for this episode here.
Today's show is especially exciting, because we're going to take a fresh look at the new inverted food pyramid—and what it finally gets right for a population where the majority of Americans are metabolically unwell. Thank you to Secretary Kennedy and the MAHA group dedicated to making America healthy again. To reverse this huge increase in metabolic disease and chronic disease in general. A change that has been long time coming and I applaud it! Loudly! For decades, we were taught to build our diets on grains, fear protein, fear fat, and count calories—often with disappointing results. Today, we'll talk about why that advice didn't work for so many people, what's changed, and how this new model brings common sense back to nutrition by prioritizing blood sugar balance, muscle, and metabolic health.
In this episode of Iron Culture, Eric Helms and Eric Trexler discuss the recent changes to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) and the implications of these updates. They begin by addressing the shift in their podcast schedule, emphasizing the importance of mental health and balance in their work. The conversation then transitions into a detailed analysis of the new dietary guidelines, highlighting the complexities of the process behind their formulation. Helms critiques the influence of corporate interests and the political landscape on the DGAs, while also acknowledging the positive aspects of the new recommendations, particularly the increased emphasis on protein intake. The hosts explore the historical context of dietary guidelines, the evolution of public health messaging, and the challenges of effectively communicating nutritional advice to the public. In this episode, Eric Helms and MASS Research delve into the complexities of the latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs), discussing the implications of the visual representation of food groups and the recommendations for protein, fats, and processed foods. They critique the new guidelines for their lack of clarity and potential confusion, particularly regarding the emphasis on whole foods versus processed foods. The conversation highlights the disconnect between the written guidelines and their visual representation, which may mislead the public about healthy eating patterns. They also explore the political influences on these guidelines and how they may affect vulnerable populations, particularly in school lunch programs and social assistance programs. Seed oils are widely promoted as “heart-healthy” and appear in most modern nutrition guidelines — yet many women continue to struggle with inflammation, fatigue, hormone imbalance, and weight loss resistance while following this advice. In this episode, we explore how seed oils interact with the female body, why highly processed industrial fats affect inflammation, metabolism, hormone signaling, and nervous system regulation, and what nutrition guidelines often fail to explain about fat quality, oxidation, and real-world metabolic health. This conversation covers: What seed oils are and how they are made Why polyunsaturated industrial fats are biologically unstable How seed oils can contribute to chronic inflammation and metabolic stress The connection between fat quality, hormone signaling, and insulin resistance Why women are especially vulnerable to the effects of modern fats Healthier fat choices that better support metabolism and hormonal balance This episode is not about fear, food rules, or perfection. It's about understanding how modern nutrition guidelines can overlook female physiology — and how to make informed, nourishing choices that support long-term health. If you've ever wondered why eating “healthy” still leaves you feeling unwell, this episode offers clarity and context you won't find on a food label. https://www.heart.org/en/news/2024/08/20/theres-no-reason-to-avoid-seed-oils-and-plenty-of-reasons-to-eat-them This is the newly rebranded podcast, formerly known as "Your Birth, God's Way". Jordan Sather runs solo while Nate is out, diving deep into RFK Jr.'s decision to cancel $500 million in mRNA respiratory vaccine contracts. He breaks down why RFK considers these shots pointless due to rapid viral mutations and shares Dr. Ryan Cole's take that this move could collapse the mRNA vaccine empire. Sather calls out media outlets parroting identical pro-vaccine scripts, highlights the push to remove vaccine exemptions, and revisits whistleblower Dr. William Thompson's revelations on CDC coverups. The conversation shifts to RFK's ban on thimerosal, U.S. health decline since the 1980s, and the broken “sick care” system. From there, Sather tackles overhauling USDA dietary guidelines, improving prison and school meals, cutting soda and candy from SNAP, and requiring nutrition education in medical schools. He stresses the gut-brain connection, critiques farm subsidies favoring GMO crops, and advocates for local, nutrient-dense food production. Along the way, he shares fitness tips, supplement recommendations, and answers viewer questions on topics from DMSO to moringa, wrapping with plans for an upcoming children's health episode.

The World Health Organization (WHO) sets global health guidelines that influence doctors, institutions, and government policies, but what happens when those guidelines are fundamentally flawed? In this episode, we break down the WHO's diabetes nutrition recommendations and why they don't make sense from both a scientific and common-sense perspective. We discuss: • Why the WHO claims to “not recommend restrictive diets” but actively restricts protein and saturated fat • The misleading claim that carbohydrate sources “don't matter” for diabetics • How Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) expose the real impact of different foods on blood sugar levels • The obsession with cholesterol, despite research showing that low cholesterol correlates with higher mortality • Why skyrocketing diabetes rates show that these recommendations have failedIf you want to take control of your own health rather than relying on outdated and ineffective guidelines, this episode will give you the tools to think critically, experiment with your diet, and make informed choices.

Welcome to the Natural Super Kids Podcast! In today's episode, we're diving deep into a controversial topic – Australian Dietary Guidelines. For this episode, we will be looking at three specific guidelines: The National Health and Medical Research Council's Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, Nutrition Guidelines for School Tuck Shops, and Health Direct's Healthy Eating for Kids. Australian Dietary Guidelines are once again sparking discussion because one of our members in the Natural Super Kids Klub encountered a surprising roadblock when submitting a Bliss Balls recipe to her child's school tuck shop. The recipe, which included coconut oil, was deemed a "red food" and rejected due to school canteen guidelines favouring vegetable oils over natural, solid oils like coconut oil.In this episode, I will discuss:The challenges faced by parents when it comes to meeting their kids' nutritional needs;Flaws in Health Direct's Guide on Healthy Eating for Kids:Emphasis on a large amount of cereal and grain foods;Does not consider adequately consider new research on saturated fats;Preference for processed vegetable oils over healthy natural oils; The misinformation around coconut oil and its surprising benefits on HDL cholesterol.Specific issues identified with the Guidelines for Healthy Foods and Drinks Supplied in School Canteens;Perplexing categories used: green, amber, and red;The use of intense sweeteners in “green” drinks;Preference for vegetable oils rich in Omega-6 fatty acids and the implications on children's health;Omission of essential fat-soluble nutrients when opting for low-fat dairy;Banning salt in school lunches, despite its necessity in nutrient balance. What's missing in Australian Dietary Guidelines, and where the focus should be redirected; Her recommendations for healthy feeding practices for kids;As parents, it's our responsibility to question and explore dietary recommendations to ensure our kids get the best nutrition possible. If you're passionate about providing optimal nutrition for your kids and want practical tips to overcome challenges, this episode is a must-listen. Today, we're going to dive into a topic that's been on my mind for the past 25 years as a fitness professional - our flawed nutrition guidelines and the ideas behind them. Do you ever wonder why our nutrition guidelines, which have only led to increased metabolic diseases, continue down the same path despite decades of failure? Well, there's a strong driving force behind it all. (Can you guess what it is?) Hit play to learn more! The famous 1979 food pyramid recommended 6 to 11 servings of grains, leading to weight gain. The guidelines were established by politicians and nutrition scientists, including Mark Hegsted who was paid by the Sugar Research Foundation to promote sugar and blame saturated fat for heart disease. Hegsted later became head of the USDA and drafted the nutrition guidelines. The food pyramid was released in 1980 and updated every 5 years. The nutrition guidelines have been influenced by politics and the food industry, including organizations like the USDA, Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Last year, two articles revealed the extent of industry influence over these organizations. 95% of the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Council members had conflicts of interest with the food and pharmaceutical industries. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics became a pro-industry voice, accepting corporate contributions and investing in companies like Nestle and PepsiCo, even if it clashed with their original mission of public health. Academic institutions like Harvard and Tufts, heavily funded by corporations, have been recommending a low-fat, plant-based diet and vilifying meat, full-fat dairy, and saturated fats for decades. With 65% of the US diet being processed food and 80% of the US being metabolically unhealthy, it's clear that this isn't working. Eating whole foods is the solution. That's why I created the Healthy AF club, a community of like-minded individuals who support each other and receive weekly coaching from me in an effort so we can all learn the truth together.
