It's a new year in the Sassy timeline, and you know what that means: time to crown a new Sassiest Girl In America! The latest crop of hopefuls descend on New York (thanks to Clairol and L.A. Gear), and apparently don't slow down for photos because other than the winner on the cover, all you get are silver dollar-sized, super-processed photos of them. (If this is what we have to look forward to from the magazine's new redesign, its first since its launch almost three years ago: boo.) Elsewhere, we hear first-person testimony from staffers' bouts of depression, a wildly sexist feature on why boys find YOU scary, an excellent short story from copy assistant Jessica Vitkus, the incongruous choice of Nick Cave as What He Said's celebrity boy, and much more. You're going to need your reading glasses and a flashlight to make out what's on some of these pages, so you might as well just let us tell you about it all instead! QUICK LINKS

Welcome back to #FeminineFriday before I get into the teaching. I want to thank you all  for sharing, rating and reviewing. In a world where women are often portrayed as catty, I love that we have an environment of encouragement and just uplift each other here. Your support means so much to me!As many of you know, I have been taking a break from social media and have really been focusing on other areas of my life. I wanted to hone in and press the reset button on a few things-mainly my health. God desires us to be healthy, and I believe that Christians should be the healthiest and the wealthiest people on the planet. We should truly reflect God's original design for us in every single way. In fact, that is what the scripture tells us that in 3 John 1:2. This is my foundational scripture that you'll hear me talk about over and over again. This really applies to everything-our relationships, our health, our money, and our family. I talk more about this in my Woman, Arise book that you can purchase here. If you go to my social media page, you can actually get the first two chapters absolutely complimentary, with no strings attached! So, let's dive into how I've been dropping the weight!1.{4:04} I kept a food journal. I was bad eater. I would eat Chick-Fil-A, and go into carb comas and have low energy. Most days, I would have to drink coffee to stay awake or I would reach for sugary foods when I got tired. I started to notice and take note of the things I ate that made me feel bad or tired. I realized that my previous habits were not setting me up for success and I had to change. Food is for fuel, so now I make sure I am feeding my body with things that energize me. I do have treats from time to time, but I've learned to do so in moderation.
2. {10:40} Eating for my blood type. My blood type is A. In 2020, I read a book titled, “Eat Right for Your Type.” This is not an endorsement, however, this book helped me find what works for me. In the book, type A does better with a plant based diet and once I began to switch over I began to see how my body reacted to certain things. Now, I can't even eat a burger without getting nauseous. Whatever your health goals may be, it is important to God, your legacy, your joy, and your productivity. Our physical and mental health are effected by many things we consume that may not be right for our bodies and more specifically our blood type.Next week, I am doing a 5 day challenge in Feminine Woman Collective, where we focus on health. Originally the name of this week's episode was “You're Neurotic, Not Crazy." The other open is “What's Your Type”- both are a good fit because this week on The Tarot Diagnosis we get real about the labels we like to claim and the types we want to be. In clinical psychotherapy, we like to be able to give names to people's experiences and ways of being in the world. But, really - doesn't everyone? Don't we all take the time to take some ridicules Buzzfeed quiz to tell us what type of pizza topping we are? Or which Hogwarts house we should be sorted into? We love to have labels and identifiers that describe us and we like it when other people do too. It's like having a fun secret code that we think will demystify ourselves and our relationships. And, it does… sort of. From Myers-Briggs, The Big 5, Enneagram, Holland Codes, and more- we talk about all the ways we have tried to classify personality. And, of course, we do this all through an examination of the tarot- pulling in seemingly all of the court cards this week. We go into how mental health's habit of rebranding all its lingo every ten years or so. We have a great conversation about the wonderful paradoxes of being a human and how tarot let's us explore this more deeply. Canadian Idol Bronze Medalist Carly Rae Jepsen tunneled a hole straight into the center of our collective craniums with her 2012 earworm "Call Me Maybe" and scored the world's biggest song of that year. But after her album Kiss failed to generate the same heat, her future as a pop sensation seriously hit the skids. In 2015, she returned with the album EMOTION featuring the song "Your Type." And although the album basked in the glow of critical acclaim, a cult fandom and hipster credibility, the majority of music consumers sent it straight to voicemail. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

How could your Enneagram type benefit from going on retreat? Each Enneagram type has a way of "seeing" the world and therefore approaches experiences, like retreat, in a unique way!  Often, our authentic self gets overtaken by our adaptive behaviors. It happens slowly and we wonder why we are so tired, short-tempered, depressed or hyper-vigilant. Going on retreat is about getting out of the normal patterns of our human behavior. On retreat, we're invited to break free from our minds being full of the everyday, ordinary tasks, as well as striving to be enough, do enough, or have enough. Retreat days allow us time to recalibrate back to center. In this episode, we'll journey with each of the nine Enneagram types and see the Full Circle benefits of leaning into this REALIFE rhythm of retreat! Doch was steckt hinter dieser Ernährungsform?

Poppy and Geoff Spencer are Relationship Experts based in Sarasota, Florida and authors of the hugely successful book One Billion Seconds. Today we talk about relationships in and out of the workplace, and how to get more out of each relationship in a positive way. Many relationships fail because there’s a lack of communication skills and maturity, which leads to misunderstandings. Poppy and Geoff help people understand how relationships work and how to avoid the mistakes they made in their relationship. Relationships In Business and Life Many people are unaware that 2nd and 3rd marriages fail more than 1st marriages and the reason this happens is poor communication. If the underlying problem continues to exits, problems will keep repeating themselves. Spouse & Partners Working Together The are many reasons some spouses and partners can and cannot work well together, which is why the hierarchy of the business relationship is so important? Who is in charge of marketing, sales, etc? Poppy & Geoff also discussed:  Why you need to clearly define work and home, even if you work from home. Well defined roles are important for a partnership to prosper.  Why you need to learn to see things differently Spouses and partners have a perfect opportunity to balance each other. Having two sets of eyes and ears can be very powerful in the workplace. You need to appreciate each other's skills REFRAMING: Two heads are better than one Let's Blame Evolution Evolution has taught us to survive. We have negative thoughts four times more than positive thoughts as a survival mechanism. It’s a caveman protection thing. Thousands of years ago we were always on the lookout for Saber-Tooth Tigers, but today it’s an emotional Saber-Tooth Tiger. Fear makes us think negatively, and our thoughts affect our actions. Myer Briggs Type Indicator – MBTI (Wikipedia): The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an introspective self-report questionnaire with the purpose of indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions. For example are you:  Extroverted / Introverted Sensory / Intuitive A Thinker / A Feeler In regards to your partner or spouse, when you understand each other's TYPE you will work better together. However, this applies to everyone in your business, right up to the CEO of the company.  No TYPE is better or worse, right or wrong, it’s just a preference for one or the other, just like being left or right handed. Your TYPE is not set in stone. You will only have a preference for one or the other, but when it is identified, it gives you the opportunity to work on the less dominate preference.  It's the same principle when a left-handed people teach themselves to use their right hand for specific tasks.   It’s About Awareness Once you are aware of your dominant preference, you can work on your less dominant preference. For example, you may be an extrovert in social situations but an introvert in public situations. When you’re comfortable with your skill, you will perform better, and your skills will develop as you mature. Monday Morning Tip Start your day with GRATITUDE and AFFIRMATION for others. This will set the tone for the next 24 hours. Ask the question as you drive to work in the morning about on fo your team members, or business partner. “What’s the ‘one-thing’ that I most value about this person and then share it with that person when you get to work. Welcome back to the Fitlandia Podcast! Today we have the pleasure of meeting with Thubten Comerford for another inspiring story of weight loss and transformation. Thubten Comerford has come a long way from his elementary school days when his mother placed him on the Cambridge Weight Plan and he was constantly being reminded he was bigger than the other kids in his class. Growing up active but not athletic, Thubten always struggled with his weight. Upon entering college, he was in the early stages of substance abuse due to conflicting religious boundaries relating to his decision about coming out about his sexual identity. Thubten describes himself at that time as, “a “hot mess.” With no attention being paid to nutrition, he gained the "freshman 50” during his first year of college. He left school soon after and joined the National Guard and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After leaving the military, he went back to his parents’ house for a short time and then returned to school only to find himself living in a fraternity house, which escalated his negative drinking habits. A few years after college Thubten became a practicing Buddhist Monk. While traveling and still struggling with his weight, he found himself reading Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo’s, Eat Right 4 Your Type and was quickly motivated for change. He soon dropped 50 pounds by eating right for his blood type and after starting a prescribed diet, dropped another 50! Today, Thubten is 29 years clean and sober, describing it as a yo-yo rollercoaster journey that so many of us can relate to regarding dieting and self-mastery. He has lost another 40 pounds this year, on what he calls “the potato-based coffee diet” and is working to share his impactful story. Books like, Presto! How I Made Over 100 Pounds Disappear and Other Magical Tales, by Penn Jillette, have inspired Thubten during his transformation journey. He’s learned it’s about finding what works for his body while being aware that things change depending on time and environment. Today he knows how to be mindful of his actions since they are often related to deep-rooted thought patterns and forgiving of himself when working past negative emotions or during a setback. As an avid entrepreneur, Thubten was searching for his next career endeavor when he asked himself, “How do I do food as a business that is an expression of me?” With his vast knowledge of business and marketing, culinary skills and understanding of video and YouTube, he recently started producing a cooking show, Thubten’s Kitchen, a 13-episode, multi-segment program that will launch soon on YouTube and be formatted for network television. His Facebook site is live, and has more information, but here’s what each episode offers: The first segment is a culinary training program where expert chefs come into Thubten’s Kitchen and teach him (as the student) to prepare their signature plant-based dish. The second segment is with a farmer in the field. During the third segment, Thubten meets with an artisan making a plant-based cured or fermented ingredient. The closing segment concludes with Thubten making a wonderful plant-based dish using all the ingredients from the episode. The business allows you to pick and choose the cured or fermented ingredients, including Thubten’s own line of products. There’s also a monthly pop-up episode, available on Feastly Portland where Thubten shares his very own recipes and plant-based meal tips. Stay tuned for the Thubten’s Kitchen website for his great information on weight loss, healthy eating and everything nutritionally plant and nutrition based. Closing Tips: Start somewhere and do something – measure something small that you can feel positive about Eat the rainbow and increase your plant based meal options Stay connected with Thubten and his favorite canine companion through Instagram for videos, food as they continue to work on launching his show and website! Topic - Blood Types.  The blood types found in people today started more than 20 million years ago and have been shared by other species for survival reasons. Nothing is more important than surviving. Type A was around before the B and O versions popped up in humans, gorillas, and baboons. It's also thought that those with Types A and B might have inherited them from a single ancestor millions of years ago. Why do we care? Blood types make you vulnerable to disease. Type Os catch cholera, plague, and other diseases more than others. Type As get smallpox. People with Type A are prone to blood clots which allowed them to survive during childbirth and after they suffered traumatic wounds. Does blood type have anything to do with the diet that's best for us? An interesting book called Eating Right for Your Type by Peter D'Adamo thinks so, and his ideas make sense. Maybe it's your answer, too. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/drclaudia/message

Kim Robinson's father, a tailor, inspired me. The first thing Kim ever made, a halter top, was the kind with the choker ring around the neck. She attached some yellow yarn as hair, buttons for eyes, and for lips, a red licorice. Sadly, the California sun melted the licorice all over the place, but every little girl in the neighborhood was exchanging their toys for one. In addition to continuing her sewing throughout high school, Kim was in the modeling club, where she, along with her friends showcased her designs. Remember, this was the late 70’s when Superfly and Cleopatra Jones were The Thang. Kim progress to making long coats and lace up pants out of recycled Levi’s.  Currently writing a story entitled Street Life to Housewife, Kim assures you that the title speaks for itself. The author of four other books near completion, one is best described as Murder she wrote for the hood.’ Kim's goal is to comlete an  eight-book series. She is close to completing God Ain’t Spelled Government. where the alumni of Dominguez High School, Class of '77 has leaked a government conspiracy at her twenty-year class reunion. The Government does not know to whom the conspiracy was leaked, Consequently, they Government set out to kill everyone who attended the reunion. Three books Kim rely upon. One is Green Pharmacy while the other is Live Right for Your Type. Her most important is The Holy Bible.
