I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and interview some fine runners before and after a race. What better time to start than to head out to Grande-Digue for the annual 5-15 km runs and do some interviews? It is a well-run event, and it is a shame to hear this could be the last year for the run. In this episode, I take my new mic and chat with several different people to get their take on several things about the race. A different way of doing content, but I really enjoyed myself, and so did these runners. Windy and cool with some rain early, but a typical day for this time of year. Let us know what you think, folks, later.Motivate to Move Email:motivatetomove.podcast@gmail.comOur Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100041607699495As always, give the gift of life and donate blood today.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/motivate-to-move--4528736/support.

Amanda Mills Sirois is back on our podcast this week. We asked Amanda back on our show for an update on how her Olympic run went. Amanda was not an official runner at the Olympic event but her best friend Allison, and another good friend Collin ran the Olympic course. It was an amazing experience and a great story. The 3-2-1 initiative, what is it and why is it important? Amanda helps answer those questions in this episode, sharing how she led her 13-year-old daughter with Down Syndrome along a 5 km route. There is so much in this episode and we know you will enjoy every minute so pull up a chair, take a load off, and enjoy.Motivate to Move email, let us know who should be on the show:motivatetomove.podcast@gmail.comMotivate to Move Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100041607699495As always, please give the gift of life and donate blood today.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/motivate-to-move--4528736/support.

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to wrap up your week and help you navigate this crazy little thing called life. Unsurprisingly, the Thursday episode of the podcast was all over the map with no single topic lasting for more than a few minutes. The fellas kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about pajamas and how no one understands why anyone would wear PJs that are overly complicated. As you'll hear, the boys kicking off the podcast with PJ talk was really confusing for Jay as he walked into the studio a few minutes late.Changing gears, Jay recapped his trip to Toronto from this week and how he was able to go golfing in November. Even though it's mid-November, getting a round in this late in the year was enough of a reason for Jay to break his own flight rules by checking his golf clubs. Jay also spoke about staying out in Barrie, and how he learned that a lot of pilots live out there and even call it Terminal 4.The guys then discussed the upcoming Nation Vacation to Denver, and how Jay and Tyler signed themselves up for a 5KM Turkey Trot on the day of the Oilers game. For Baggedmilk and Wanye, such a commitment makes little sense given how hard everyone is expected to get after it the night before. On the flip side, maybe a 5KM walk after a night out is exactly what everyone needs to get back on their game. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including the Paul Skenes rookie card search, Prince Harry at the Grey Cup, Diddy's prison shenanigans, and how Bigcat from Barstool ended up winning $30K on a bet thanks to an anonymous tip.

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast, would it? Of course not. The boys kicked off the podcast by discussing an idea from Target in the USA: patrons can enjoy a beer while they're shopping. The boys then wondered if they would even want to spend more time in the grocery store or if they believed this could be an insurance issue waiting to happen.Changing gears, the guys spent the next few minutes talking about the Nation Vacation at the end of the month and how the boys are excited about the 5KM run they organized for Denver. Baggedmilk, however, is thrilled to be sitting out that run and promises to meet the boys with a fresh beer when they cross the finish line. Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, the boys discussed how great it was to watch the boys dismantle the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Given that the boys were struggling to score goals, is it too much to hope that the floodgates could open up a little bit? That said, there are still a couple of players — Nugent-Hopkins and Podkolzin, specifically — who are struggling mightily to get pucks in the net. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the podcast with a discussion about Jeff Marek joining The Nation Network and how it's wild to think about how far TNN has come over the years. Needless to say, welcoming Marek into the family was a big moment for the company, and the guys are all excited to see what kind of content he produces with the MSM shackles coming off. An excellent conclusion to a wonderful talk with Colin McQuade, Lindsay Laltoo, and Aaron Sellers. All three runners are from the Greater Moncton Running Club and listening to this episode you can tell these three get along so well. Running, staying in shape, and being active in the community are important to this group. It's nice seeing people helping others to achieve their goals while working on their own, it makes for a wonderful time out with your peers. Motivation is contagious and we hope this week's talks motivate someone to get out and be active. What a fantastic talk we had with Carolane Pitre. Originally from Quebec and now living in Halifax, this young lady has been through a lot and will not give up. Her determination, drive, and personality will not allow her to stop. The one time she did haunted her so much that she had to duplicate the event to make amends. Running, swimming and biking keep Carolane motivated, put all three together and it's a dream come true. We asked Carolane about her cycling accident and how long it took to recover. Carolane was back on the bike as soon as she was physically able. As always on Motivate to Move, it's wonderful to see people motivated to keep on moving and not let anything get in their way. Great job Carolane, we can't wait to see what is next for you. We are back at it from our summer vacation and we have a treat for you this evening. This episode was recorded in August after I ran the Dark 50 event in Minto NB. I met on the course Jess Vickruck, we ran a few laps of the 10-lap race together and started chatting. This was the longest race she had ever attempted. We get to hear how Jess handled the event, the course at night, and what it is like running on trails in the dark. Jess tells us how she started running and what led her to choose the Dark 50 trail run. Jess had a couple of surprises at the end of her run, I will not share them here in the notes, but we believe you will love hearing about it. I want to add this was an event put on by Jos Eijkelestam, Dutch Viking Events. If you haven't checked out any Dutch Viking events, I suggest you try it.Motivate to Move Facebook page, come check us out:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100041607699495Motivate to Move email, let us know who should be on our show:motivatetomove.podcast@gmail.comAs always, please give the gift of life and donate blood today.

Elle Russ chats with Laban Ditchburn - The World's Best Courage Coach! A child badly affected by divorce and its dysfunction, Laban sought validation and escapism in all the wrong places. But through self-discovery, not being afraid to ask for help and a ton of hard work, he conquered the full gamut of addictions—alcohol, gambling, sex, drugs, and negative self-talk. Today, he defines the word transformation, having reshaped his body by swapping sixty pounds of body fat with thirty pounds of powerful muscle and bone. He also discovered a simple cure for his “incurable” auto-immune disease in the process. By learning why and then reverse-engineering the root cause of why he needed to escape, giving up his addictions has been almost effortless. Celebrating more than 6 years of sobriety from alcohol (longer for all the other stuff) all without any 12-step program or rehab facilities. Until May 11th, 2018, 5KM was the furthest distance that Laban had ever run. But after a huge emotional breakthrough, Laban rapidly progressed to completing his first 100KM ultra-marathon trail run just 16 weeks later. Laban has since completed 3 x 100KM efforts, 7 x 50KM, and countless marathons. A self-confessed bio-hacker, Laban also ran a 50km in 2021 on zero sugar. Now physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally in charge of his own destiny, Laban's journey continues to inspire those ready to change their life. An exemplar and a revolutionary, he revels in unabashedly sharing what he's learned: how to conquer the demons you don't know you have, and how to be unstoppable in getting to where you want to be. Laban's internationally acclaimed book “Bet on You” is a “can't put down” must-read with its raw, real, hilarious, and inspiring message of hope. Known affectionately as The World's Best Courage Coach, Laban shares his life with his smoking hot wife, the bravest person he knows, and the future mother of their children, Anna! Jan Carver started out doing a 10,000 a day step challenge and that led to a couch to 5 km run then a 10 km and the next thing Jan knew she was doing marathons. After 4 marathons Jan has decided to do the London marathon this year to make it number 5. Our very own Diane met Jan through something called the K times 365 projectin 2014. This group promotes staying active for 365 days preferably outside. Jan also talks to us about how for the first 12 weeks of running she only ran in the dark because she lacked confidence and didn't want anyone to see her. Soon that changed and as Jan gained more confidence she would run more and more. In 2018 Jan and her husband ran in a 100 miler, 24-hour team relay and on the last 10-mile lap they ran together. This event is named the Grim Reaper and the incredible thing is her longest race was a half marathon at this time, amazing. Now Jan runs with her run club and they meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Wednesdays are now her non-negotiables, she seldom misses a run with her group. But Jan does, even more, she is now certified as a run coach and helps others achieve their goals, plus she leads new runners in couch to 5k's. Mental health is very big in her running groupand they connect mental health and running health together. With Covid, this is even more of a thing so running is very important to Jan. In order to help control some of her own anxiety Jan would go and sleep outside in a tent or hammock just to get away from everything. This helps Jan to feel less cabin fever and helps her to connect more with the outdoors. Put in some rock climbing and everything else that she does and it's easy to see Jan is a very motivated individual.

"DPRK's international radio service was named "Radio Pyongyang" until year 2002. Now it is called "Voice of Korea". In Chinese, Korean and Japanese languages, there are different words to distinguish the north and south. In English language, word "Korea" may stand for both. I think the name "Radio Pyongyang" is clear, does not have ambiguity. The name "Voice of Korea", we cannot guess which side it is from. The radio recording was on the Military Foundation Day in DPRK, 25 April 1999. Its content is the celebration of the festival. The programmes are political promotion news, editorials, songs and music. The distance from receiving place Shenyang to Pyongyang is about 374.3KM, to Seoul is about 565.4KM, and to Beijing is about 660.5KM. The two distances are shorter than to China's capital, it is easier to receive the radio programmes from the Korean Peninsula, and no special equipment is required. Sometimes in the night, in the mid wave band, the radio transmission from North Korea can "mix" with Shenyang local radio signal, unintentionally interferes the local broadcast. Run Is It® 13 è il commento alla XVII Corri nella Riserva, gara da 5 km corsa il 7 novembre 2021 nella Riserva di Duna Feniglia. Ho corso in 18 minuti e 14 secondi, 7° posto assoluto e 1° posto di categoria.

Genevieve Lalonde, John Gay headline a strong elite field at the Medavie Canadian 5K Championships that are set to beginThis Saturday, August 28, the 14-day period for submissions of race results in the Medavie Canadian 5K Championship, opens. Hosted by Athletics New Brunswick and Run NB, the event will be raced virtually in 2021 with the event boasting a strong field of top Canadian elite athletes, including several Canadian Olympians. Headlining the women's field is Genevieve Lalonde, a Moncton native. Lalonde ran two Canadian records at the Tokyo 2020 Games, including an 11th place finish in the 3000m steeplechase final. The women's event also includes two other first-time Olympians in Julie-Anne Staehli and Alycia Butterworth. Both athletes have burst on the scene as of late; Staehli is one of the few Canadian women ever to run 5K under 15 minutes while Butterworth just made her Diamond League debut in Eugene, running the third-best Canadian time ever for the steeplechase. The women's start list also includes several national and provincial champions including Newfoundlander and marathon mom, Kate Bazeley, veteran Sasha Gollish, former Canadian marathon Champion, Leslie Sexton, and cross-country specialist, Kate Ayers. Not to be outdone, the men's start list also features another world-class steeplechaser in John Gay who also competed in Tokyo where he ran a personal best in the heats to book his ticket for his first Olympic final. Gay is capping off a breakout year after winning the Canadian Trials and cracking the Olympic standard in that same race. Gay is flanked by 2x Olympian, and fellow British Columbian, Luc Bruchet. Following the familiar theme, Bruchet is also capping off a breakout season, one which included a massive personal best and ranking him third all-time in Canada over the 5,000M. Charles Philibert-Thiboutot (CPT), an Olympian from the Rio 2016 Games is also running in the event. CPT barely missed out on a second Olympic berth in Tokyo and is coming into the event in flying form. The men's start list also includes a number of national champions including Atlantic Canadian and Canadian Cross-Country Champion, Mike Tate, his teammates from the Backroad's Bandits Connor Black and Parrot-Migas, NAZ Elite runner and NCAA standout, Rory Linkletter, and world record holder for pushing a stroller over a marathon, Calum Neff. In this special episode of Travels with My Friends I chat to my friend Dave Weston just ahead of his next song release, Life of Riley, which he treats us to a sneak preview of. 'Dynamo' Weston, as I call him, talks life, music, sport, and how to 'run your own race', be it training for a marathon or running your first 5KM, getting into cold water therapy, meditation, staying positive and avoiding anxiety, mastering intermittent fasting, and being part of a solid community in London even in the most trying of times. This one's gold: please share, rate and review!
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes You could use a million and one phrases, like, the rubber meets the road but when it all comes down to the nuts and bolts, it better be bat meet ball. NC State and Virginia have ventured into the College World Series (CWS) through slightly different paths but both teams are nothing short of scrappy when it comes to their wins. Will and Jim take a look at some ACC sports news first and then dive head first into how the conference has performed in post-season baseball action. Two ACC performers came away with gold during the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Virginia's Michaela Meyers and NC State's Elly Henes delivered in the 800M and 5KM. There's an interesting side note to the Henes win that we share with you on the show. Florida State had a great softball season but unfortunately they came up short against top-ranked Oklahoma in the WCWS. The Seminoles return a young but experienced squad next season. Our colleague Chris Bond notes that now that they've held been in a position to hold the cup they'll be ready to drink from it in 2022. Be sure to subscribe to ACC Nation Podcast, listen to ACC Nation Radio and if you would, we'd appreciate a review and your support to continue to keep the program free to you. DONATE Bat Meet Ball The ACC had a great baseball season and sent 8 teams to the NCAA Regionals. Three of those teams made it to the Super Regionals including Notre Dame, a team that had a stupendous regular season that held incredible promise going into the post-season. The Irish couldn't muster enough to take the final game of the three-game series with Mississippi State and clinch a Super Regional spot. NC State captured the first spot in Bracket 1 of the CWS among conference teams. Later in the day Virginia fought back against a tenacious Dallas Baptist to make their way into Bracket 2. We outline the games that are coming up this weekend in Omaha. Find out the matchups, times and where you can watch coverage. And as a final note, some thoughts on the site of the 2022 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Watch And Subscribe - YouTube https://youtu.be/GIO3VYTyysg

Since the 11th of January the Gardai have issued hundreds of €100 fines to people breaching the 5KM limit. Henry McKean spent the morning with the Gardai at a checkpoint on the Meath – Dublin border to find out what excuses motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are giving. Gardai in New Ross stopped a car with 5 people on board outside a 5km travel limit without a reasonable excuse and were fined €100. The checkpoints could continue until late February with Level 5 possibly being extended. The fixed charge penalty notice will arrive in the post and you will have 28 days to pay it. Gardaí say it will no longer consult with the Director of Public Prosecutions before issuing these fines. They will continue to engage, explain, encourage before handing out the fine as a last resort. Motorway checkpoints are now gone and they are all on roads off the motorway. Henry McKean met Sergeant Cillian Duffy based at Balbriggan Garda station and Garda Joe Callan.

12min 10min 8min at 26-28spm - TOP TIER WORKOUT Pace Guide = 2K+7-8 Effort Guide = 8/10 ending at 10/10 Speech = Tough! ❗ This is the most top tier session yet. Holding 2K+7 (or 8) fro 12 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 8 minutes isn't going to be easy. This is only 1 or 2seconds slower than your 5K pace - and you'll be going for a good 10 minutes (or more) longer than a 5K. ❗ So 'TOP' in fact, that when I told my coach about this session, he said I'd got it wrong and programmed it too fast. The session that this has been inspired by on the Pete Plan is the 3Km 2.5Km then 2Km distances - with the same amount of rest. And though loath to give proper pace guidance, when pushed, he does suggest around 5K+1 pace. My pace for this was 2K+9 - Giving myself a 2 second buffer to allow me to talk through the video. As each interval progresses, you'll get to a point where you'll expose yourself to 2K 'hardship'. But then you'll have a rest for 5 minutes, which lets you recover - and the next interval will get to that point a little quicker. It allows you to taste the hardship of what it feels like during a 2K, when muscles and lungs are working really hard - and your mind starts to ask you questions about whether you can continue at that pace. But importantly, you won't need to stop. You can keep going until the next rest period.

Canale Telegram: https://t.me/da0a42Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/da0a42/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/da0a42/Profilo Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/37970087Club Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/da0a42Sito: https://da0a42.home.blogOppure contattami!https://da0a42.home.blog/contatti/----------------------Music credits: Feeling of Sunlight by Danosongs - https://danosongs.com

(https://bdacademy.pro/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Alan-Fitzgerald.jpg) Alan FitzGerald has been in specialist tax & accounting software for over 19 years and maintains a broad network of industry specialists locally and globally ensuring that firms are always connected to the best provider(s) that match their needs. If you’re familiar with the plumber and his leaky tap, accounting firms are the same: they’re so focused on their own clients, they don’t focus on the systems ‘at home’ – the accounting equivalent of a ‘leaky taps’ – except in this case, leaking is measured ultimately in clients and profit. Alan has been in accounting tech since May 1999 having spent 7 years in semiconductors prior to that in Germany and Australia. These days what Alan does is to work with firms to understand their goals and rapidly suggest vendors that can fix those ‘leaky taps’. 3 years ago he became an independent adviser to firms big and small, growing revenue and efficiency in firms by working with them on strategies to find and use the best systems and processes that exist in the market without them needing to spend time and effort. His vendor neutral approach matchmakes needs to the best suited practice management, tax and compliance software along with his industry insights / perspectives. Alan also has a background in corporate and international tax solutions and with the OECDs Country by Country reporting regime, Alan is the APAC agent for Otico Software an Amsterdam / Zurich based software solution for complying with these new requirements. Shownotes: Accountants have traditionally been ‘anxiety transfer experts‘ but this is changing The demystification of accounting is changing the ways accountants serve the world Compliance will NEVER go away, though the ratio of compliance to advisory is changing World rankings when it comes to which accountants across the world are ahead of the pack With software, do you advocate the ‘suite to compete’ or the ‘best of breed’ model? Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers the power to interrogate tax data for trends and insight How Xero is analysing data and highlighting business trends faster than governments The cost of change in shifting accounting software that doesn’t work is lower and faster The software accountants look at is often based on their view of it which is out of date Being receptive to new ideas is what truly separates the good accounting firms from the great ones Leading firms have a much lower turnover of staff, which is critical in the war for accounting talent It’s increasingly hard to hold onto people, so partners should be listening to their staff much better Your brand is not what you say it is but what your customers say it is (quote via Intuit) Your corporate memory is integral to how your firm is viewed in the market and by potential hires Accountants can be a much more wholistic solution to clients if they collaborate more Leads from cross-selling colleagues convert 70% of the time in good accounting firms Start ups need a does of commercial reality from their accounting advisors Whose job should it be to win work and do business development in an accounting firm? Research finding – 64% of small businesses detest incremental billing if you like technology, the accounting and compliance industry is the best possible career path Alan Fitzgerald has run 5 marathons – albeit slowly – and can bash out a tune on a guitar. He speaks fluent German, rusty French and is trying to learn Spanish & ukulele, but not at the same time. He’s set up a running group that has been ‘running’ every Tuesday evening for the last 15 years and where entrants are rewarded with beer at the end of 3Km or 5Km….. The Gunn Runners. He works with firms from sole-practitioners through to Big4 accounting firms to make them more efficient and easier for clients to want to do...

In this week's episode of The Working With… Podcast, I answer a question about how I have managed to maintain a running and exercise programme despite working a full-time job. Links: Email Me | Twitter | Facebook | Website The Ultimate Goal Planning Course The Working With… Podcast Previous episodes page Script Hello and welcome to episode 30 of my Working With Podcast. A podcast created to answer all your questions about productivity, GTD, time management, self-development and goal planning. My name is Carl Pullein and I am your host for this show. In this week's episode, I have a question about health and fitness. This is an important question because we all know being fit and healthy and doing some exercise regularly is vital to our long-term health. We are living longer and expecting more, yet if we don't look after our health in our early lives, it will come back and destroy the quality of our lives when we get older. What we eat, how much alcohol we drink, whether we smoke and how frequently we exercise are all important factors if we want to maintain our health and vitality long into our lives. Before we get to the question though, thank you to all of you who have enrolled in my Ultimate Goal Planning course. I will be updating this course regularly, as I do with my Your Digital Life 2.0 course, so keep your eyes open for additional classes coming through each month. If you haven't enrolled yet, you can enrol in the course from the link in the show notes for this podcast. The whole purpose of the course to get you thinking about what you want, rather than spending too much time worrying about what others want from you. This is your life and you get to decide what you want to get out of it if you just take some time out to decide what it is you want. Okay, let's get on with answering this weeks question. Unfortunately, the Mystery Podcast Voice has lost her voice this week, so I shall be reading out the question: This week's question comes from Bjorn in Norway. Bjorn asks: H, Carl,l I have just started running and would like to know how you manage your running programme. I'd also like to know if you have any tips on equipment and training that you could pass on. Thanks. Thank you, Bjorn, for this wonderful question. Firstly whenever starting any exercise programme you need to decide when would be the best time to do it and how often. Usually, when someone starts out on an exercise programme they haven't exercised for many years and so just deciding you are going go out running or to the gym everyday is not realistic. Your muscles are going to be sore, in some cases very sore, and you need to allow time for your body to adapt to this new stress you are putting on it. My advice to all newbies is to go for three times a week for the first month. Any more than that and you are likely to find it so painful you are going to want to give up in the first week. You don't want that to happen, so go for three times a week to allow your body time to adapt. Next up, is to decide when you are going to do it. I found asking the question am I a morning or night person? Was a great question to ask. There's a lot of advice out there that tells you to exercise early in the morning and in general, this is good advice. But for me, I hate exercise in the morning. I never look forward to it and I feel very uncomfortable. I prefer afternoons for exercise and because of the nature of my work, the afternoons work perfectly for me. Find the best time for you and the type of person you are. We not all morning people and some of us prefer evening times. If you are one of those people, then do your exercise in the evening. The next thing to do is to schedule your exercise time on your calendar. Block out one hour. Even if you only exercise for 20 to 30 minutes, you will still need to shower afterwards. So block one hour. This time is sacrosanct. You must decide never to allow anything or anyone take away your exercise time. This is why it is important to schedule that one hour at a time you know will not easily be stolen by something or someone else. I schedule 2 to 3pm for my exercise days. This works for me as I have classes and meetings in the morning and I teach in the evenings. The afternoons are generally free for me, so this time works. It is on my calendar and what goes on my calendar gets done… My golden rule. While on the subject of blocking your exercise time on your calendar, I would also suggest you do the scheduling of your exercise sessions on a week to week basis. This means you can look at your calendar and see which days are very busy. On those days you may find you are not likely to have the time. Don't schedule sessions for those days. Wishfully thinking you will exercise on exhausting days is a sure fire way to lose your commitment. Only schedule sessions when you know absolutely you will be able to do them. When scheduling your sessions, don't just write “exercise” be more specific. For example, write “run 5km” or “Do 30 mins gym session”. The more specific you are the more motivated you will be. On my light days I usually write “do 20 mins circuit training” I find this is much more motivating than having a vague term such as “gym” or “run” on my calendar. Once you have committed yourself, how do you start a running programme? This is much easier than most people think. Always start with what I call a run/walk session. What this means is you run until you feel uncomfortable and then walk until you feel recovered enough and then run again until you feel uncomfortable and repeat the process. If you are new to running you will find you do not run very far. Don't worry, that is perfectly normal. 100 to 200 metres might be all you can manage. That's fine. Remember, it takes months and months of regular running to run a half-marathon. It takes time for your body to adapt and the right muscles to develop. So don't expect to run 5km without the need to walk in your first few weeks. It might even take you months before you can run 5KM without stopping for a walk. It all depends on your physical condition when you start. The important thing is you keep going out on your scheduled runs. Over time you will find you can run farther and require less walking. A quick tip here is you can use lamp posts to measure you progress. If you can run 3 lamp-posts when you start and at the end of the month you can run 5 lamp-posts without stopping you are making progress. Just a quick word on muscle soreness, you are going to feel it. You are going wake up in the morning and feel very sore and stiff. That's normal when you start any kind of exercise programme. After a few weeks that soreness and stiffness will disappear. It is just your body repairing itself and making your muscles stronger. You need to go through that process. It's good for you. It makes you stronger and you join the same club millions of new runners and exercisers have joined. The pain of starting the journey. Enjoy it, it does not last long! One thing I would add here is that as time goes by and as your programme develops you will find you start to feel so much healthier and more energetic. It inspires you to look at all areas of your life from your diet to the amount of time you spend sitting down each day. I found after a few weeks I enjoyed the feeling of losing weight (I lost 10 kilos that's 22 pounds in 3 months when I started running again ten years ago) This inspired me to change my diet and make it healthier. I cut down the amount of sugar I put in my tea and coffee, I started eating salads for dinner during the week and only allowing myself things like pizza on a weekend. Over a few months, my whole lifestyle went from a slow decline in physical abilities to energising my whole lifestyle with increased strength and energy. It was an incredible transformation, not just physically, but mentally too. Now as for equipment and training. For running the most important investment you make is in your running shoes. Go to a proper running store (not an online one) and get advice. I find buying running shoes that are half a size bigger than I normally wear is a good tip. Exercise socks are usually thicker than everyday socks and your feet will expand quite a lot when running. Another piece of good advice is change your running shoes every six months. The shock absorption abilities of your running shoes declines as you build up the miles you run. You need to take care of your knees and shins. So don't be economical with your investment in running shoes. These are you most important investment. As far as clothing goes, just wear something that you feel comfortable in. If you are running long distances (10k or further) then the lighter the better. And on those sunny days, don't forget the hat! As for training, the best advice here is don't increase your distance (or weight in the gym) until you feel comfortable with what you are currently doing. When you push yourself to go further, faster and longer too soon you are just going to get injured. Slow down. There's no rush. Remember, once you decide to get fit it is a lifetime commitment, not just for a few weeks. So, don't rush things. One final tip for any new runners. Set yourself a goal to run a 10k race in six months time. 10k is a great distance because you will need to have a reasonable level of fitness to complete it. But don't just set it was a goal. Enter the race. Pay your entrance fee and get it in your calendar. That way you are committed. It gives you a purpose beyond better health and fitness. It makes it feel more important every time you go out for a run. Running for me has been a real pleasure. It is a great form of exercise because it not only improves my overall fitness, keeps my weight down and gives me bundles of energy every day. It also allows me periods of time to be with my own thoughts, listening to my favourite music and just to be out there off the online grid and be with nature. It's not just physically good for you, it's also mentally good for you. Well, I hope that has answered your question, Bjorn, and again thank you for your wonderful question. I also hope these words have inspired you to at least start thinking about beginning an exercise programme. I can promise you the transformation you will see in yourself in just a few weeks will inspire you to make some incredibly positive changes to you life in so many other areas. Don't forget, if you think this podcast will inspire others, please share it with as many people you know. Together we can be part of a movement to help one million people to learn the wonderful benefits of being better organised and becoming more productive. Thank you very much for listening to this podcast. It just remains for me now to wish you all a very very productive week.
