Chris Chaney's contributions to the bass world often go overlooked – but there's genius in his bass playing if you know where to find it (take his game-changing bass lines with Jane's Addiction for instance). Hear the importance of mature discipleship and how you can start right where you are.
Chris recently traveled to Kenya and spoke at two conferences. Chris shares with us how obedience is better than sacrifice, to persevere, and how important it is to maintain character when faced with challenges. The character of Christ is paramount. Listen, like, comment and share. (in English and Swahili.)
Chris shares a powerful message so needed for this time in every situation. As the sons of Issachar discerned the times and seasons, we all must grow in discernment in this age of mass deception globally. As we seek the Lord and surrender to walking in the Spirit we can see what is unseen and hindering many, starting with ourselves. 2 Tim 1:7 speaks 'For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.' Chris speaks of dealing with witchcraft and demons and walking in authority we have in Jesus' name, standing in faith in the Lord in tough situations. The Holy Spirit leads as we hear and obey. Listen, like, comment, and share.

Sometimes life happens… and sometimes death happens. Everyone in the rock world was shocked to hear of Taylor Hawkins's untimely passing on March 25, 2022. We didn't know the man, but certainly thought a lot of him as a phenomenal musician who really was the driving force behind the Foo Fighters as well as modern rock n' roll in general. From videos and documentaries, he seemed like a really cool guy and sweet dude. This week we pay tribute to the smilin' heavy hitter and a hell of a singer, the only way we know how, by not playing a single note from the Foo Fighters. New to InObscuria? It's all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we will focus on Taylor's solo material, guest appearances, and side projects. If there is one positive thing to come from this sadness, it would be that all of his great music gets the exposure it deserves.Songs this week include:Dave Grohl & Taylor Hawkins – “2112 Overture” from RUSH, Rock Hall Induction Ceremony (2013)Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – “Shapes Of Things” from Get The Money (2019)Brian May – “Cyborg” from Another World (1998)Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – “Louise” from Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders(2006)Coheed & Cambria – “No World For Tomorrow” from Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow(2007)Taylor Hawkins – “Southern Belles” from Kota (2016)The Birds Of Satan – “Wait Til Tomorrow” from The Birds Of Satan (2014)Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – “Don't Have To Speak” from Red Light Fever(2010)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

As broadcast March 31, 2022 with plenty of extra tissue to dry your eyes. Tonight in our second hour AMPED feature, we'd been saving this one since the news broke this weekend of the very sudden demise of Taylor Hawkins. A brilliant vocalist, legendary drummer, and amazing musician to say the very least of it, he will be dearly missed and we hope this little bit of positive energy can help begin the long process of healing for everyone, especially his friends and loved ones. For our first hour, we had lots of great new funk and soul energy, along with a look back on this date in 2003 when The Roots dropped Phrenology as well, so a quality albeit misty two hours of music in store.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)The Roots feat Cody Chestnutt – The Seed 2.0Bosq feat Pat Kalla – C'est Quoi, C'est QuoiBrian Jackson – All TalkChelsea Carmichael – All We Know (Shabaka Hutchings remix)Addison Groove – Brand New Drop (Nuff Pedals remix) Part II (30:41)Topher James & Biscuit Brigade – Kinda HeartbreakingTopher James & Biscuit Brigade – Matter of TimePOSY feat Brandon Markell Holmes – Fill My CupHenry Franklin with Jazz Is Dead – The GriotFunmilayo Afrobeat Orquesta – Vazante de VeraoCharles Mingus – The Man Who Never Sleeps (Live) Part III (78:42)Foo Fighters – Times Like TheseAlanis Morrisette – You Oughta KnowNHC – Something About YouFoo Fighters – Cold Day in the SunCoheed and Cambria – The Running Free Part IV (110:20)Foo Fighters – RopeLed Zeppelin – Rock n RollQueen – Somebody to LoveTaylor Hawkins – Bob Quit His JobTaylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders – I Really Blew ItFoo Fighters – My Hero

It's time to connect with your inner rockstar! Chris Chaney has been a professional musician for his entire career, so saying he's lived an interesting life is an understatement. This week, I speak to Chris about his career as the bass player for Jane's Addiction and how he connects with his own inner happiness. He takes us through the highs and lows of his life, from severe burnout to working with household name celebrities. Through his deep inner wisdom and unique perspective, we learn why it's important to do what we love while taking care of ourselves at the same time. Key Topics/Takeaways: What a true artist is. Why doing what you love is the most important thing. How to cope when you feel hopeless. The importance of self-care. Why successful people are still unhappy. Dropping your lack mentality. Advice for aspiring professional musicians. Where to Find the Guest: @chrischaneybase @nhcmusicofficial Memorable Quotes: “It's through all those ups and downs, the failures, the little things that ultimately make you who you are and you come out of it stronger. You don't let it beat you down because you're so passionate about what it is, and you're committed and you're focused.” (7:56, Chris) “A true artist is someone who you can't get enough, who can't stop no matter what the reward is.” (12:03, Chris) “You have to do self-care. You have to meditate.” (20:50, Chris) “Success doesn't always bring happiness. Although I think we think it does. If we just get that thing or we become the rock star, everything will be great. And it's not the case.” (21:05, Dr. Sarah) “Sometimes a week away is the best thing you could ever do.” (29:07, Chris) Join the Are You Satisfied? If there is an opposite of being artistic, then I am that person. Therefore, hosting the Off-Farm Income Podcast has allowed me to meet and interview many artistic people that I would otherwise never encounter. It is fascinating to me the way that an artistic person sees the world and is able to craft that vision into something beautiful and pleasing to their fans. On today's episode I am featuring once such artist who has taken his love of agriculture, his artistic ability and his skills in jewelry making and combined them all into a unique and exceptional line of agricultural jewelry. Talk about a value added product! Chris Chaney is the creator of "Agrijewelry", a line of jewelry that began with the creation of a piece that looks astonishingly like a cotton boll. This is was requested by a customer, and Chris went on a pilgrimage to make it happen. One thing led to another and today Chris offers jewelry that looks exactly like a multitude of crops from corn, to soybeans, to peanuts to almonds. And, he has expanded into livestock, wildlife and exotics as well.

Are you settling into an office chair today? Or are you manning the driver’s seat? Our guests are right at home in both places. We welcome Maya Hernandez, Brian Johnson, and Chris Chaney to sit down with us in this episode of Terminal Exchange. These three drivers turned driver managers are the breath of fresh air you’ve been waiting for at Terminal Exchange. They share a full-circle perspective of Nussbaum from the heart of a driver and the thoughts of a driver manager. But what brought them into the office? And is there that big of a difference between office work and their first presumptions of it? In one word – yes. Listen to the driver’s voice – the frustrations of both roles, the eye-opening realizations, and the game of Tetris that is the trucking industry. Enjoy Maya, Brian, and Chris’s stories from over-the-road to over-the-phone. Photos Quotes Chris: “This was a great opportunity to be able to come inside and help people with something that I really love doing.”Brian: “There were times where, sitting in my truck, I didn’t say it directly to them, but I was screaming at them sitting in that truck.”Maya: “As long as we are communicating and keeping those doors open, there is nothing that can’t get accomplished.”Maya: “When you call and you think that the planner and your DM have lost their bananas, and they don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to your hours. It’s easily resolvable by a simple phone conversation and a good attitude.”Brian: “I have no problem routing you outside of Chicago. Because I know it takes one person to screw up everybody’s day there.”Maya: “I couldn’t have a job without a driver. The driver could not have a job without our sales team, and our CACs, and our load planners. We all make up this company.”Chris: “I have to take care of my people. I have to care for my team. We want our drivers to be successful.”Maya: “Thirty-four hours is never enough at home… You have to be a wife or a husband. You have to be a mom. You have to be a friend, and you have 34 hours to be all these different things before you have to go back out on the road again.”

From the driver’s seat, to the office chair, to the pulpit, to home, Chris Chaney exudes passion and joy in everything he does. Buckle in for some rich conversation and find out why Chris has “no bad days.” No Bad Days Being “on his own” since around the age of 14, Chris Chaney is no stranger to challenge. In fact, you might even say he’s had his fair share of bad days. But according to Chris, there is no such thing as a bad day. Chris talks about how faith and some key people in his life helped him grow and learn to overcome his challenging days, find joy, and develop a passion to help others find joy too. I understand that I am going through some challenges, but there’s someone who’s going through far greater challenge than I. So, if I can just say something, if I can smile a certain way, whatever I can do to bring joy to them. Make a Joyful Noise He may not sound like Cory Henry, but as someone who plays the organ, piano, drums and bass guitar, Chris has an evident love for music and making a joyful noise. In his words: I am not a professional at anything I play. But I understand music… and the melody that David played on the harp in the Bible is what I think about when I’m playing for Christ. Quotes Traveling is like soothing music to me. I get in the truck and get an opportunity to think. I can think clearly and just kind of let myself go.I’ve always loved trucking, just always been attracted to it.I believe my first ministry is my home. If home is not where it needs to be… then no other aspect of ministry will make sense or come to pass as it should. The drive going home… allows me to be very thankful to God for the day that He has provided.I don’t believe in a bad day. There’s no such thing as a bad day. There’s good days, and there is challenging days. I am not a professional at anything I play. But, I understand music… and the melody that David played on the harp in the Bible is what I think about when I’m playing for Christ. When you stop learning, you stop growing. There will be some good days. And there will be some challenging days. Remember, if you survive that day, you have another opportunity for the next day.Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up. Pictures Links Cory HenryDashboard Spotlight

Now, Texas-based Infinite Esports & Entertainment is among a handful of groups looking to establish a presence across the competitive video games sector, with teams playing in a broad range of leagues and titles, new initiatives launched as far away as India and a permanent sports venue in the works back in Arlington. They also discuss finding the right gaming content for the right partners, the role of players and their existing audiences, making sense of the Fortnite phenomenon, working with publishers and understanding what titles will be a hit.

“Having many hobbies and interests can help because you end up developing a variety of talents which helps in always having something going on or always having some way to make money.” In this episode I’m joined by Shelcy Joseph. I found Shelcy through an article about her and her sister and how they’ve been building a lifestyle and fashion brand while living in NYC. Fashion does not seem like an easy business to get into, so it was interesting to hear about how she got into it and is building it up. She’s also an intense hustler. At one point she was juggling 6 gigs at once in order to fund her pursuit of this work, and I think she’s a perfect example of how you don’t have to make the money work right away. You can pick up side gigs and other work to make the finances work until your own thing takes off, without having to give up the passion project just to get a paycheck. We covered: How Shelcy managed six jobs at once Starting a fashion and lifestyle business in New York Finding the confidence to pursue nontraditional jobs Recommendations for inspirational figures and transformational books Advice from Shelcy to others who are pursuing creative solopreneur work Balancing your work life and passionate pursuits And a ton more. “The most value you can get at this moment in time that’s such an easy reach, is to find someone that’s doing the exact same thing as you right now and that’s in a different company and just ask them ‘What are the problems you’re facing?’” In this episode I’m joined by Matthew Barby. Matt leads the global Growth and SEO strategy for HubSpot, a public company with thousands of employees, and has one of the best marketing and startup growth blogs on the Internet. He got that job when he was just a few years out of school because he worked relentlessly to master the kinds of marketing work that ended up getting him noticed there. He was working with a small agency, out of a shed as he puts it, and hammering away at trying to get sites more traffic day and night and learning everything he could along the way. GiveSafeWater.org is a volunteer 501(c)3 organization that was established in 2013 to provide safe water to those without access to clean water. It is located in Kansas City, Missouri and was founded by Chris Chaney and Kermit Fendler, local businessmen. Upon visiting El Salvador as part of a mission trip in 2013, Chris and Kerm learned there are many underprivileged communities that have water available to them, but the water is not clean. As a result, the families drink, cook and clean with water that causes sickness, disease and even death. Seeing this, Chris and Kerm felt compelled to help. In talking with each other and organizations serving these communities, the plan for GiveSafeWater.org was formed. Their solution to the problem is simple, effective and inexpensive: support organizations whose programs provide a minimum of 1,000,000 gallons of safe water. That means that 20 people can have clean water for up to 10 years!

Experts say to be very careful what you put online, and that anyone who posts anything is at risk. Especially at risk? Celebrities. FOX News Radio's Michelle Pollino explains: Cyber INsecurity.
