In this episode of MGMA's Ask An Advisor podcast, we feature Cristy Good, Sr. Industry Advisor at MGMA, talking about strategies to address the high rate of patient turnover. Patient turnover, often referred to as patient churn or attrition, can impact the financial health and stability of a medical practice. Estimates show that it's six to seven times more expensive to acquire a new patient than it is to keep a current patient coming back. It's also estimated that upwards of 80% of future profits come from just 20% of existing customers. Furthermore, big gains can be made by retaining patients because increasing patient retention rates by just 5% will increase profits anywhere from 25 to 95%. During her 25 years as a consultant she's worked with artists like Paul McCartney, Todd Rundgren, Stewart Copeland, Prince, Michael Jackson and even Apple Computer founder Steve Jobs. While she was still in high school, Kelli approached Steve at a local cafe in Cupertino, and he accepted her request for him to be her mentor, which started a relationship that lasted over 30 years until his passing.  She put herself through college by working at GPI Publications, (the home of Guitar Player, Keyboard & Bass Magazines), and then moved to Hollywood where she  landed a job as an A&R exec at EMI Music. Kelli eventually headed back to Apple, and was in charge of the company's early forays in music, as she was largely responsible for making Apple computers the go-to computer for creatives everywhere. Since Apple, she has worked with a range of disruptive, innovative start-ups, and Fortune 100 companies as an advisor, consultant, and sometimes as an acting VP of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. During the interview spoke about getting Steve Jobs as her mentor as a teenager, laying the foundation for Apple in the music and film communities, helping Todd Rundgren build Patronet,   working as a young A&R exec, moving into the roll of trusted advisor, the future of digital music, and much more.  I spoke with Kelli via Zoom from her office in the heart of Silicon Valley. About Precision OSPrecision OS is a medical - grade learning platform to advance surgical readiness.Surgery residents are getting less hands-on experience than ever, and it's affecting their confidence and autonomy. A significant percentage don't feel ready to independently perform core procedures upon residency completion,1 and over 90% opt for an additional fellowship year. In an effort to address this, The American Board of Surgery (ABS) recommended “rather than increasing the quantity of cases, we should be increasing the quality of teaching both clinical and procedural skills.”The lack of access to high-quality surgical education is also affecting medical device companies. In an era of rapidly advancing technologies and procedures, training is often a rate-limiting factor. Current training approaches vary in effectiveness, and are not helping to address cost, and, most importantly, surgical mastery.About Dinis Guarda profile and Channelshttps://www.openbusinesscouncil.orghttps://www.intelligenthq.comhttps://www.hedgethink.com/https://www.citiesabc.com/More interviews and research videos on

Adam Cherrington and Dan Czech speak with the current Director and Industry Advisor for Global Healthcare at Salesforce, Dalton Divakaran, about the strategies being used to drive better outcomes for patient care. Divakaran stresses the importance of having open dialogue between organizations and Salesforce. By having open conversations, trust builds and allows for honest input on how to better understand patients' needs. Czech poses the question of what is being done in other countries to enhance the healthcare experience with patients and what the key takeaways are. Divakaran says that access to healthcare is an obstacle to overcome. He explains how in countries like Spain where healthcare is essentially free, hospitals are constantly overwhelmed with large populations of patients needing care, and this causes stress and sometimes even bad experiences for patients. One of the solutions that Divakaran mentions is for healthcare organizations and leaders to be more proactive and open to feedback from their patients—this is the dialogue that matters and that will benefit everyone. Ultimately, prioritizing what matters to patients is the most important factor, and this should be the center focus for every organization.

In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana.
