In this second episode in the 3-part clinical leadership series, I explore the 'lesson planning trap'—a common situation where clinicians focus so much on perfecting individual sessions and miss broader opportunities for impact.I experienced this myself, spending years creating detailed therapy plans while seeing little change at the systems level. Then I realized the importance of distinguishing between planning for individual therapy and planning for effective service delivery. This insight transformed my practice and leadership approach.Today, I'll share how you can take your intervention skills and scale them for lasting change in your school or organization. Key Points:✅ Applying effective intervention principles to enhance service delivery.✅ Understanding the difference between therapy planning and service delivery planning.✅ Introducing scalable protocols that maximize your impact.✅ Evaluating your current strategies for scalability.✅ Utilizing intervention principles in team leadership situations. In this episode, I mentioned “The School Leader's Guide to Executive Functioning Support”, a 7-day course to help school leaders launch their executive functioning implementation plan. In this episode, I explore the concept of leverage in your business, focusing on strategic time management and maximizing efficiency through automation, delegation, and smart decision-making. Using practical examples, I demonstrate how business owners can optimize their time by targeting warm leads, choosing the most effective social media platforms, and prioritizing outreach strategies. The key is asking, "Where will I get the most leverage?" rather than spreading efforts thin across multiple channels. I emphasize that strategic thinking prevents overwhelm and helps entrepreneurs make more impactful choices by focusing on existing networks, identifying high-engagement platforms, and being intentional about time allocation. I have some sad news to share with you today on the podcast. Sadly, my dad passed away on May 22, 2025.   My dad was such a pivotal part of my family. He was an amazing husband to my mom. He was such a loving father and a supportive and involved grandfather. This loss is deep.  It is interesting because your mom and dad are there when you take your first breath. But it is so heartbreaking to be there when they take their last. I am going to be taking some time off to grieve the loss of my dad. I remember when I lost Jeannie back in 2016 and my divorce in 2014, something that really helped me was to read--- read God's Word and read books that pointed me back to God's Word. I need that again this summer. I need time to input and allow myself time to sit in the pain and grieve—take time to process the hard emotions. I want to thank you in advance for giving me space to do that this summer. I don't know how long it will be, but I know it is my best yes. I believe God is going to use that time, so I can pour back into you when I return. I cannot wait to see what God wants me to learn in the midst of the pain. So, I thought today would be very honoring to share one of the episodes where my dad was a guest back in 2020.  I know you are going to learn so much from his wisdom!   My dad's episode back in 2020: With Father's Day just around the corner, I am excited to have my dad, John Brownlee, as a guest on the Depth podcast this week.  I asked him to share some of his words of wisdom and best advice as he is a father to 4 girls and a grandfather to 7 grandchildren. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I love that my dad shares some of our funny memories and crazy dinner activities as well as encourages other dads to make their kids a priority. I am so thankful that my dad was an intentional father to me and my sisters. I recommend listening to this episode alongside your spouse or if you are a single mom like me, there are still lots parenting nuggets in this episode for you as well!  I believe parenting is the most rewarding and challenging job all at the same time, so I hope this episode encourages you along your parenting journey! I promise you do not want to miss this episode.   My dad was on the podcast again in December 2024- so special to have him on a second time. Ep 443 The Power of Gratitude with Don Williams

Richer Soul, Life Beyond Money

The Power of Gratitude   What if the key to massive business success wasn't about selling harder — but about serving deeper? In this electrifying episode of the Richer Soul podcast, we sit down with Don Williams, a serial entrepreneur, 8-time author, and the voice behind “The Proven Entrepreneur Show.” Don takes us beyond business blueprints and shares the soulful philosophy that's powered his multi-decade journey working with half of the Fortune 500. Raised with baling wire fixes and $5 junkyard fridges, Don grew up with strong Midwestern values and a reverence for saving, service, and self-reliance. But this isn't a story about frugality — it's about learning how to help others help others, and building scalable business success through intention, emotional intelligence, and micro-learning.   Key Takeaways:  Micro-Learning is the Future of Growth. Don explains how bite-sized learning — done the right way — can teach even complex sales and leadership skills in record time. Sales is a Transfer of Enthusiasm. With a deep background in customer experience, Don reframes sales as something positive: "Enthusiasm sells." Put People First: The Y.O.U & M.E. Values. Don's values are deceptively simple — “You and Me.” It's about putting others first, offering outstanding effort, and staying mission-focused. Helping Others Help Others is the Ultimate Fulfillment. Don's personal mission — and his challenge to listeners — is to create a ripple effect by empowering others to uplift those around them.   Money Learning: Frugality With Purpose Don's childhood shaped his relationship with money profoundly. Raised in a family that fixed everything before replacing anything, he inherited values of delayed gratification and practical spending. His grandfather — a slumlord by today's terms — was rich in assets but lived modestly, tracking rental income on brown grocery bags to avoid buying notebooks. This episode reveals how frugal beginnings can fuel entrepreneurial fire — especially when combined with the desire to give and serve.   About Don Williams: Don Williams is a business growth strategist, 8x author, and podcast host with a passion for helping others, help others. Over the past 30 years, he has worked with hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, advising them on sales, customer service, and marketing strategies that deliver measurable results. He's also the founder of The Microlearning Academy and The Proven Entrepreneur Show. When not building businesses or writing books, Don lives outside Fort Worth, TX with his wife Leta (a.k.a. “the redhead”), their children, and grandchildren.   Key Discussion Points:  Don's “perfect” childhood and his frugal, values-driven upbringing. The origin of “You & Me” as a personal and business philosophy. Lessons from a grandfather who tracked rent payments on grocery bags. The power of micro-learning to transform employee performance. How to build emotional connection into the sales process. The real secret to scaling a service-based business.   Conclusion:  Stop selling, start serving — treat every sales call as a mission to help. Simplify your values — consider Don's Y.O.U. & M.E. model in your business or personal life. Invest in micro-learning — break down your skill-building into short, intentional lessons. Ever feel like your problems are too big, too vague, too tangled to tackle? Dr. Mark L. Teague calls it “the blob”—that overwhelming mass of modern challenges we all face. In this powerful episode of Productivity Smarts, host Gerald J. Leonard sits down with Dr. Teague, economist, former finance executive, and author of A Working Man's Guide, to reveal a game-changing approach: frame the problem before you fight it. Dr. Teague shares the strategy that helped him go from farmhand to PhD and Wall Street leadership: simplify the chaos, break it into components, and work against a frame, not a feeling. We also take a look at his Impact Index—a sharp diagnostic tool to evaluate whether someone's ambition and capability align—and a deep observation at why building a life of abundant purpose is the ultimate productivity advantage. Learn how principled thinking, rooted in traditional values, leads not just to success—but to purpose. Let's dive in. What We Discuss [00:00] Introducing Dr. Mark L. Teague, PhD [04:01] The 3 core principles that shaped Dr. Teague [05:31] Why accepting life's problems is the first step to real productivity [07:44] The power of the Scientific Method: Turning blobs into frames [11:06] Samuel Morse and the power of reframing problems [13:44] Building resilience in the age of AI, economic shifts, and overwhelm [17:07] The Impact Index: How ambition and competence drive real outcomes [23:22] Abundant purpose: Why fulfillment beats wealth every time [28:02] From managing money to managing meaning: Lessons for entrepreneurs and tradespeople [32:52] How values-driven leadership builds lasting business and family success [36:22] Holding fast to your North Star: The conversation that matters most [39:23] Where to find Dr. Teague and his book Notable Quotes [04:20] “Work hard, be honest, and be respectful. Those three things were expected—and you didn't deviate.” — Dr. Teague [07:44] “Don't work against the blob. Frame the problem, then work the frame.” — Dr. Teague [10:22] “Simplify. That's the secret to all stress management.” — Dr. Teague [17:07] “Capability without ambition makes you dead weight. Ambition without capability makes you dangerous.” — Dr. Teague [25:48] “Build your life around the intangibles—and use those same principles to pursue the tangible.” — Dr. Teague [35:55] “If you put business before family, you're talking to a fool.” — Dr. Teague Our Guest Dr. Mark L.
