I am joined by Melanie Kruger, one of the best people leaders that I ever had the chance to work with. She has deep understanding of helping to scale Salesforce ISVs of all sizes. She actually found her way into the Salesforce ecosystem via networking between her husband and J Manning, bringing her to the Head of People at Conga.I got to work with Melanie twice at Conga and TaskRay and was so impressed with how she helped set culture and nurture culture so the companies could grow. Melanie shares that when she joined Conga, lots of people were generalists - Conga had a number of Business Analysts that did everything customer facing - Sales, CS, and Support. This can be a really good model of ISVs early on, but eventually specialization is required. Something similar happened at TaskRay and one of their BAs was Jon Barlow who is now a top tier enterprise AE in the ecosystem. We talk about culture and how it shifts over time, sharing her experience with Red Canary. We explore hiring pitfalls for early-stage ISVs and the importance of job descriptions. We go deep on this topic because it is so, so important to align expectations and help secure top talent as well as touching on some creative perk ideas for employees, like “two weeks to infinity”.It was a lovely conversation that blended business lessons and life lessons. This episode is brought to you by Tequity Advisors . Tequity Advisors is a global sell-side M&A advisory firm with core expertise in SaaS and ISVs, Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, Microsoft, all things Data and AI, and the hyper scaler MSP cloud ecosystems with a focus on the Salesforce ecosystem and beyond!

Bookkeepers and Accountants.I don't hate them, they are important & necessary. However, there's a problem with them. For most tradies and builders, they are the people you go to for advice, particularly advice about your money. But the truth is, they are not very good at that .Both bookkeepers and accountants have a focus on compliance & saving - saving money, saving cost or saving tax. Bookkeepers tend to be mostly concerned with making sure your accounts are compliant with the law so you don't get in trouble. They want you to lodge your BAS or GST correctly, pay people correctly, and don't overpay your GST. Accountants care about tax; making sure you don't pay too much, don't do something that's not allowed and then get in trouble, and they care about your business structure & protecting your assets. Those are good things .The problems come when they are your main/only source of advice and guidance in the area of money and the finances of your business. Because there's more to it than that.--------------------------------------Get the Bookkeeping Guide for Trades and Builders here: https://www.smallfish.com.au/tradies/bookkeeping-guide-for-trades-and-builders-2/If you want more money (profit), more time (off work), and more freedom (from work, stress, responsibility) book a Money Call: smallfish.com.au/tradies/money-call/FOLLOW US AT:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/smallfishcoach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/smallfishcoachInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/smallfishbusinesscoach/YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/smallfishau

Segment 1 - Interview with Jeff Pollard Introducing Forrester's AEGIS Framework: Agentic AI Enterprise Guardrails For Information Security For this episode's interview, we're talking to Forrester analyst Jeff Pollard. I'm pulling this segment's description directly from the report's executive summary, which I think says it best: As AI agents and agentic AI are introduced to the enterprise, they present new challenges for CISOs. Traditional cybersecurity architectures were designed for organizations built around people. Agentic AI destroys that notion. In the near future, organizations will build for goal-oriented, ephemeral, scalable, dynamic agents where unpredictable emergent behaviors are incentivized to accomplish objectives. This change won't be as simple or as straightforward as mobile and cloud — and that's bad news for security leaders who in some cases still find themselves challenged by cloud security. Segment 2 - Weekly News Then, in the enterprise security news, there's funding and acquisitions, but we're not going to talk about them AI's gonna call the cops on you and everyone's losing money on it and Anthropic agreed to pay for all the copyright infringement they did when training models and Otter.ai got sued for recording millions of conversations without consent Burger King got embarrassed and their lawyers didn't like it NPM package mayhem certificate authority hijinks AI darwin awards All that and more, on this episode of Enterprise Security Weekly. Segment 3 - Executive Interviews from Black Hat 2025 Interview with Rohit Dhamankar from Fortra Live from Black Hat 2025 in Las Vegas, Matt Alderman sits down with Rohit Dhamankar, VP of Product Strategy at Fortra, to dive deep into the evolving world of offensive security. From red teaming and pen testing to the rise of AI-powered threat simulation and continuous penetration testing, this conversation is a must-watch for CISOs, security architects, and compliance pros navigating today's dynamic threat landscape. Learn why regulatory bodies worldwide are now embedding offensive security requirements into frameworks like PCI DSS 4.0, and how organizations can adopt scalable strategies—even with limited red team resources. Rohit breaks down the nuances of purple teaming, AI-assisted red teaming, and the role of BAS platforms in enhancing defense postures. Whether you're building in-house capabilities or leveraging external partners, this interview reveals key insights on security maturity, strategic outsourcing, and the future of cyber offense and defense convergence. This segment is sponsored by Fortra. Visit https://securityweekly.com/fortrabh to learn more! Interview with Michael Leland from Island At BlackHat 2025 in Las Vegas, Matt Alderman sits down with Michael Leland, VP Field CTO at Island, to tackle one of cybersecurity's most urgent realities: compromised credentials aren't a possibility — they're a guarantee. From deepfakes to phishing and malicious browser plug-ins, attackers aren't “breaking in” anymore… they're logging in. Michael reveals how organizations can protect stolen credentials from being used, why the browser is now the second weakest link in enterprise security, and how Island's enterprise browser can enforce multi-factor authentication at critical moments, block unsanctioned logins in real time, and control risky extensions with live risk scoring of 230,000+ Chrome plug-ins. Key takeaways: Why credential compromise is inevitable — and how to stop credential use How presentation layer DLP prevents data leaks inside and outside apps Real-time blocking of phishing logins and unsanctioned SaaS access Plug-in risk scoring, version pinning, and selective extension control Enabling BYOD securely — even after a catastrophic laptop loss Why many users never go back to Chrome, Edge, or Safari after switching Segment Resources: https://www.island.io/blog/how-the-enterprise-browser-neutralizes-the-risks-of-compromised-credentials This segment is sponsored by Island. By Adam Turteltaub Things are a bit out of balance when it comes to Business Associates (BAs) in healthcare. Organizations invest a great deal of time and resources in vetting these third parties to make sure that they will safely handle data from the covered entity. But, when the relationship ends, those same organizations may overlook the risks to their data post-separation. The problem is complex because different BAs will fall under different regulations and use data differently. Some may process but not retain data. Others may have terabytes of your data to return or destroy immediately. For others, there may be a law or regulation requiring them to hold onto that data for several years. The compliance team, explains Marti Arvin (LinkedIn), Vice President, Chief Compliance and privacy Officer at Erlanger Health System, needs to ensure it is part of the process whenever a BA relationship is coming to an end. At that point, it's time to reach out to the BA to ensure there is a plan in place for how data will be handled, and to begin documenting the process. This helps in case there is an incident later. Listen in to learn more about what you can and should be doing to ensure that the close-out process is as healthy as it should be.

Bias in recruiting isn't just unfair, it's also bad for business. Bias in the recruiting process means many employers miss out on top talent simply because they're not seeing the full picture. Most organizations focus their anti-bias efforts on the interview stage, but the real damage happens much earlier in the process. With AI as a new complicating factor, how can we properly address bias and make recruiting fairer for everyone? My guest this week is Bas van de Haterd, recruiting polymath and also now co-founder of TA Audit Institute. As usual, Bas brings a vast amount of data and research to the conversation. In our discussion, we explore where bias really lives in the process, why current solutions miss the mark, and what the future of recruiting could look like. In the interview, we discuss: The impact of biased hiring on employers How most bias happens at the start of the recruiting process Why current approaches to eliminating bias aren't working Research findings on gender bias Job experience versus job knowledge Open hiring Does AI make things better or worse? Potential solutions What does the future look like? Follow this podcast on Apple Podcasts. Follow this podcast on Spotify.
