China's ties with Southeast Asia states are increasingly consequential for regional stability and global geopolitics. Over the past two decades, China has become the region's largest trading partner and a major source of investment and infrastructure financing. At the same time, China growing military presence and aggressive behavior in the South China Sea have caused anxiety and have prompted a number of Southeast Asian nations to seek closer security ties with the United States and other partners.  The Trump administration's policies of imposing tariffs, reducing foreign assistance, and implementing stricter immigration regulations have begun to erode US influence across the region, further encouraging Southeast Asian countries to rely on each other and to diversify their relationships with external partners.    To discuss Beijing's evolving approach to Southeast Asia and the efficacy of its policies, we are joined on the podcast today by Dr. Chong Ja Ian. One former defense official summed it up: “They're definitely looking for more, and they're doing it in a deliberate and expansive way.” The Pentagon's urgency is clear. “China's ability to turn off the supply of these critical minerals would have a direct, palpable and adverse effect on US ability to field the kind of high-tech capabilities that we're going to need for any kind of strategic competition or conflict,” said Stephanie Barna of Covington & Burling in Washington. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) adds fuel — $7.5 billion earmarked for critical minerals, including $2 billion to fortify the national stockpile and another $5 billion to expand U.S. supply chains. The Atlanta Fed president projected just one interest rate cut for the year when most of his colleagues on the Fed's policymaking committee anticipated three. Even after the central bank trimmed rates by a quarter of a percentage point in September, Bostic said he would support delaying further rate cuts until 2026. Source: barrons.com IRS Releases 2026 Tax Adjustments, Changes Under 'Big, Beautiful Bill' The standard deduction will rise to $16,100 for single taxpayers and $32,200 for married couples filing jointly in the 2026 tax year. The 2025 standard tax deduction was also raised to $15,750 for single filers and $31,500 for couples filing jointly. Marginal tax brackets were also adjusted for inflation - with the top tax rate remaining at 37% for single taxpayers making $640,600, and joint filers making over $768,000. President Trump repeatedly promised that his mass deportation efforts would target “the worst of the worst” criminals, yet the government's own data reveals that immigrants with no criminal record are the largest group in US immigration detention today. How can the Trump administration justify its deployment of federal agents, and even the military, to US cities based on the factually disprovable fictions that American cities are crime-ridden “war zones” overrun with criminal “illegal aliens”? To answer that, one must study the long-established precedent in the USA of overpolicing poor communities of color that are painted as inherently violent, chaotic, and crime-ridden. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, Qatar is the world's largest funder of terrorism, Islamism in education, and anti-American front groups and they will have an Air Force facility in America. American Air Force pilots will train Qatari pilots on F-15 jets. This is shocking. How can you reward Qatar with an Air Force facility given their role on 9/11? Will Qatar apologize for 9/11 and October 7th? Will ​they ​agree ​to ​swear ​off ​terrorism? Afterward, Rush Limbaugh was a staunch defender of Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu. Limbaugh visited Israel multiple times, promoted it on his radio show, and would be appalled by Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, and others who associate with lowlifes that yearn for the Third Reich. Today Limbaugh would vocally oppose Qatar's U.S. base. Also, Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger is refusing to denounce her party's Attorney General nominee Jay Jones, who sent horrific texts about murdering a Republican and his family. Democrats, including Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, protect Jones, who is dangerous. Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears, a Marine veteran, businesswoman, is an excellent choice, despite the media bias against her. Later, Trump has imposed 100% tariffs on China in response to its export controls on rare earth minerals, which is blackmail on China's part.
