“Are you comparing King Diamond to KISS!?”   KING DIAMOND is the undisputed champion of all things dark & creepy that scarify & terrify throughout the metal multiverse. In our humble opinion, The King should be deemed the official ambassador of Halloween. Through the use of the creative forces granted unto him by his Scandinavian homeland (and perhaps with a little supernatural assistance for added evilocity), The KING has been unleashing terrifying tales of gothic horror backed by a progressive power metal soundtrack that have been scaring the Hell out of audiences for nearly four decades (even longer if you count his time in Mercyful Fate). There can be no doubt that he is THE premier horror metal storyteller of all time, “The KING” if you will.   When in doubt, always remember The King Diamond Paradox: “King Diamond IS Mercyful Fate AND Mercyful Fate IS King Diamond!!!”   Get ready for a bit of trivia regarding the music video for “The Family Ghost” and find out which former heavy metal haunt in Atlanta was legitimately (actually) haunted. Understand that it's always better to go with “a super smart 6 than an ultra dumb 9” because without adequate brainpower, there's “no bone movies” (especially if she insists on “using her teeth every time”). Discover “the worst part about being married”, pay tribute to the “chili dog queen” and JOIN US for a trip through the gruesome tales of twisted horror from the mind of Hvidovre, Denmark's metal master of the macabre, KING DIAMOND. In today's episode we explore the theme of “Honesty.” Sowell wrote about honesty in his latest book “Social Justice Fallacies,” and also in his 2000 classic “Basic Economics.” In addition, his 1993 collection of essays called “Is Reality Optional?” contains an essay about honesty which has a very unexpected spin to it.We learn that honesty is not just a moral virtue, it's also a form of human capital that varies greatly from culture to culture and from group to group within a particular culture.I explore themes from those 3 Sowell books and I interview Dan Ariely, author of "The Honest Truth about Dishonesty: How we lie to everyone, especially ourselves," published in 2012.  Notes to help you get the most out of this episode:• My three favorite Dan Ariely books;1. King Diamond was already a metal legend when he put out the semi-conceptual The Spider's Lullabye in 1995. It's almost an afterthought for King D - he considered it forgettable and difficult to make. For Boogie Chitz, The Spider's Lulz is a classic and contains some of the best 1990's dance beats this side of La Bouche - despite being a thematic European heavy metal record.

5...4...3...2...fun!!

dear livejournal, well it’s summer and i’ve transitioned into my summer uniform. it’s basically the same as my rest of the year uniform but with short pants instead of long pants. are they called “long pants” and “short pants” or is it just “pants” and “shorts”? i have a lot of thoughts about my pants. i will share some of them now. i prefer wearing my jean pants because my butt looks really good in them. i don’t have any jean shorts that fit me but i did find these stretchy waist shorts that fit pretty well. last summer i ordered one from the internet and it fit so i ordered like 6 more lol. but my butt just doesn’t look as good in them. i like how jeans have the full double butt pockets. these shorts just have one butt pocket and the pocket is on the inside. i like the way jean butt pockets, which are on the outside of the pant, help draw the eyes to the butt. which is where i want the eyes to go. the jeans, with their thicker material, also just provide more support for my butt, which is important to me. but it’s just too warm in the summer to wear jean pants. so i choose to sacrifice the butt support for warm weather comfort for the season and we can all look forward to the fall and the return of my glorious bottom.DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun00:00 (intro by omar)00:20 Evening Standards “The Baron” WORLD’S END03:31 Mermaidens “Cut It Open” You Maintain the Stain07:55 NOTS “In Glass” 311:19 Nerve Beats “Initials D.D.” Nerve Beats16:01 Cool Sounds “Temper” Gristle18:35 Quivers “Driving Rain” We’ll Go Riding on the Hearses22:04 Ana roxanne “Immortality” ~~~26:01 Primp “I Know Now” Half-Bloom29:19 Clea “Bright Blue” Fairweather33:08 No Home “[A] Lullabye” hello, this is exploitation35:58 Kiss Concert “Shit In My Hand” Look Bad/Feel Bad39:21 RAKTA “Miragem” Falha Comum45:10 Crunchcoat “With You” Mouth b/w With You47:09 Hobby Club “Bedroom” Video Days EP49:29 Frankie Cosmos “Dancing” Haunted Items #151:08 Khiis “Divooneh” Bezoar52:46 REAL THINGS “The Cave” passing showers

#podcast - рецензия альбома Anthony Wonsey • Lorraine's Lullabye Cellar Records 2021 Anthony Wonsey - piano Dmitri Kolesnik - bass 2-7 & 9 Chris Beck - drums 3-10 Antoine Drye - trumpet 8 &9 Brandi Disterheft - bass 8 & 10 Zet Harris - tenor sax 8 & 9, soprano sax 10 Milton Suggs - voice / vocals 10 Produced by Jeremy Pelt Recorded at GB's Juke Joint in Astoria, NY on January 24, 2021 #bebop #postbop --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/konstantins/message

Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) is the seventh song on River of Dreams. Lullabye was released as the fourth and final single from the album and only made it to number 77 on the charts. Everyone loves this song except Dave who compares it to the scene in "A Clockwork Orange" where it make him physically sick. Which, of course, makes this, an epic episode. c/w gore, loss of identity, body horror (ghosts) “As we lay entangled, fingers on each other's throats, the roots and tendrils of something new grew around us.” There are few options left, but choices must be made. Regrouping in the streets of Tail's End, Ezra and Ivar put the weapon stolen from the Pale Lanterns to use. They risk their selves to defend their cause. Meanwhile, back in the labyrinth, Ash arrives at Rodella's Heart. Carn leads him to the Tender's sacred, grisly relic. It's time to become a Jackal. ~~ PEOPLE ~~ Altara nim Shif: Scion of the nim Shif family and their trusted enforcer. Carn nim Daker: The ancient founder of the Tenders, the slayer of Caerdroia and Rodella. Body mythologised, sai rule the Jackals still. Dorish nim Shif: A younger member of the nim Shifs. Still a child, appears as a Jackal in Tiding. Galena nim Ovid: The imposing head of the Umbral Provenders and Ash's aunt. She has ambitious plans for the city. Trilvo: The matriarch of Tail's End. A doctor, used to working on ghosts and spirit. Valour nim Shif: The leader of the nim Shifs who now stands on the precipice of fulfilling all of her family's ambitions. Virtue nim Shif: The brother of Valour and Vigor. Has a reputation for not quite matching his sibling's ambitions. ~~ FACTIONS ~~ Jackals: More formally known as the Tenders of the Dawn's Embers, the Jackals are an organisation of remnant hunters guided by strange divination. Likelihood Lads: A group of bookmakers and petty thieves who run the Loven Street races. nim Shif: Embrace's newest great family. Plotting to take over the city with silvered tongues and bloody blades. ~~ PLACES ~~ Hinter Ward: Embrace's southernmost ward. The north is dense tenements, while the south has been abandoned to marsh and spirit. Winter's Lodge: A place pulled out from the cut. A shifting collection of mismatched architecture. Fragile Democracy. We have one here. With publication of warning from experts in the field, this week's show begins with their letter. Consider the implications. All we hold dear is threatened by those seeking insurrection and Big Lie elections.https://www.newamerica.org/political-reform/statements/statement-of-concern/   Amongst the people threatening our democracy are Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, two Trumpsters who just got elected to Congress to wave the Trump banner. MTG is in the eye of the storm, having been booted off committees for her incendiary Q-Anon rhetoric and Nazi comparisons regarding masks.   Colorado's first interview with Rep. Greene happened on Denver Trump Radio with her interviewer being Republican Committeeman Randy Corporon. The interview must be heard to be believed. Listen for the probing questions that never happen. Softball after sycophantic softball. We have got the sound.   A consistent sound that Oath Keepers make is, “Not on Our Watch,” its slogan. Who are these Oath Keepers, so many of whom have been arrested for busting into the Capitol on January 6? Our guest is Professor Sam Jackson; author of Oath Keepers: Patriotism and the Edge of Violence in a Right-Wing Antigovernment Group.   Michael Bailey, ace estate, and end-of-life attorney visits Craig's Lawyers' Lounge to talk basketball, Nuggets, and the Avalanche. These two friends swap stories about the pandemic hopefully ending. Troubadour Dave Gunders graces us with Alexa's Lullabye.   We've got hopeful sound (Dallas valedictorian Paxton Smith) (Trump crony Roger Stone fighting with Trump crony Steve Bannon). America will be all right if we can expose the Trump authoritarian side. Most of this week's show was taken up with the second part of our interview with Rachel Rojanski, discussing her book Yiddish in Israel: A History, published in English by Indiana University Press in 2020. The discussion is in Yiddish. Last week's show (May 26 2021) presented the first part of the discussion. The second part aired this week on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Rachel Rojanski is Associate Professor of Judaic Studies at Brown University. She is author of Conflicting Identities: Labor Zionism in North America 1905-1931 (in Hebrew) as well as many articles on political and cultural history of East European Jewish immigrants in the U.S. and Israel. About the book (blurb): Yiddish in Israel: A History challenges the commonly held view that Yiddish was suppressed or even banned by Israeli authorities for ideological reasons, offering instead a radical new interpretation of the interaction between Yiddish and Israeli Hebrew cultures. Author Rachel Rojanski tells the compelling and yet unknown story of how Yiddish, the most widely used Jewish language in the pre-Holocaust world, fared in Zionist Israel, the land of Hebrew. (Additional publisher info here: https://iupress.org/9780253045140/yiddish-in-israel/) The interview was led by Sholem Beinfeld, professor of history emeritus at Washington University, St. Louis, and co-chief editor of the Comprehensive Yiddish-English Dictionary. Also, from our archive we heard an excerpt of our 2016 interview with Gitl Shaechter-Viswanath and Hershl Glasser, editors of Comprehensive English-Yiddish Dictionary. (Interviewed by Dovid Braun and Iosif Lakhman ז״ל) Additional info here: https://englishyiddishdictionary.com To close, we aired a series of songs with words by the late poet Itzik Manger, whose 120th birthday was observed by lovers of Yiddish literature the world over this past Sunday, performed by various singers and musicians. What remains of the Hall of Heroes has taken the Nearlies to what remains of their Trans-realm headquarters for evaluation and interrogation. Fears over what battling something as contaminated as a Glorious might do to the groups Sacred Curses spurs an excess of caution and a good amount of outright suspicion. Not exactly treated like the hard fought victory, it becomes clear to the group that they are test subjects and are being sized up by one of Faritall's very most powerful people: The Guildmaster. I'm sure they will totally respect his might and authority. What it's All About: It is going to be a controversial topic. Marijuana and other drugs are not allowed in Pagan Covens during ritual or at a Festival. What it's All About: It is going to be a controversial topic. Marijuana and other drugs are not allowed in Pagan Covens during ritual or at a Festival. Yet, there are still some of us that use cannabis for spells. It is still illegal to use in most places around the world. And the health implications of using this are still being talked about. Hi loves, we're back with part deux of our conversation with the vibrant Michelle Peñaloza. The bear bore down on a wide-eyed little girl who swept a cloak of feathers over her shoulder and seemed to vanish.  She didn’t really vanish.  The little girl, whose named was Turtle, had transformed into a little blue bird that darted out from under the massive girth of the lunging beast.  She swooped around and flapped and rose up into the air.  On one side, the bird saw the silver harper playing her enchanted harp, trying to sooth the savage bear.  On the other side was the giant, wider than three strong men, taller than a cornstalk.  He wasn’t always so.  He wasn’t always a giant.  He was once a scrawny young man.  The harper was once a traveling songstress.  The bird-girl was once just a girl.  All three were as they were now because of some magic beans.   Cob never liked being a giant.  What if his wish to grow smaller was granted…and twisted? The little blue bird named Turtle flew over the same valley she had searched dozens of times over the past few moons.  Something caught her eye and she alighted on a low branch of a beech.  She had seen red.  It was curious.  She cocked her head to the left and the right.  There was red dripping from the bushes below, smeared into the dirt.  She might have thought it was blood if there hadn’t been so much of it that no creature could have shed that much.  Save perhaps a giant.   What compels a little girl, a giant, and a harper to try and save a town from a monster that is stalking the nearby woods? Today's Guest: Shawn Mullins, singer, songwriter, "My Stupid Heart," "Lullabye"   Watch this exclusive Mr. Media interview with Shawn Mullins by clicking on the video player above!  Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of Shawn Mullins fans who don’t think there is anything wrong with the man’s heart… in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! If you’re looking for a troubadour whose songs of love and the road might speak to your heart, you’ve come to the right place today. My guest, Shawn Mullins, has just released a new album full of longing and places, some with a little of both. And if you don’t know his work, I wonder if you’ll hear the influences that I do, ranging from the mirth and joy of George Harrison and Warren Zevon to the intensity and message of Bob Dylan and a little of Michael Franks’ romantic spice? Or I could be way, way off. That’s why I’m going to talk to the man in just a moment. SHAWN MULLINS podcast excerpt: "'My Stupid Heart' is about the way I felt after a third marriage didn't work out... I felt unsuccessful as a human being in that I couldn't find a partner, although I've had wonderful relationships with all three of my wives. And I'm still close friends with two of three of them and I miss the other one." You can LISTEN to this interview with singer-songwriter SHAWN MULLINS, whose latest album is MY STUPID HEART, by clicking the audio player above! My Stupid Heart is Mullins’ 16th release and it’s packed full of songs such as the title tune and “It All Comes Down to Love” and “Pre-Apocalyptic Blues” – songs that you’ll be singing or humming along with by the second play. And, of course, there is the more serious plaint of “Ferguson,” which reflects the agony of the Missouri city. SHAWN MULLINS podcast excerpt: "When it comes to police brutality, obviously nobody wants that. I've known a lot of police officers over the years... I think it's a very small percentage (doing bad things), but it's getting a lot of attention. The fact that it's happening and that people can be profiled and it leads to violent situations just because of the color of someone's skin is pretty screwed up. That song, 'Ferguson,' is about the whole picture. A lot of people said, 'Don't name it that,' but that made us want to do it even more." Mullins is on tour through at least the end of spring, including a four-day birthday bash appearance in Duluth, Georgia, in early March and participation in the Safety Harbor SongFest on April 3rd right here in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area. Today, he performs two songs live for us: “The Great Unknown” and “Pre-Apocalyptic Blues.” Key interview moments: • 5:50 Shawn Mullins talks about how police brutality and racial profiling moved him to write his new song, "Ferguson"; • 23:45 After his third marriage fell apart, Mullins explains how he took a six-year hiatus from the road -- and relationships; • 43:45 Mullins tells how he met his writing partner Chuck Cannon, who then introduced him to his wife, actress and country music singer Lari White, who produced "My Stupid Heart." I chose Indonesian music for my style of music because I liked the instruments that Indonesian music used. For example, there is an instrument called the Kulintang Set which is a kind of drum with only cymbals. I like the sound of this instrument and the way it accompanies the other instruments. This is just one of many reasons I chose this style. I decided to make the melody of my piece Indonesian. I chose this because the melody of an Indonesian song is very unique and different from any other kind of style of music. I didn't have much trouble making my melody Indonesian because there is a distinct way to make your melody. Also, the vibraphone is very close to some Indonesian instruments which made it sound more like an Indonesian melody. The vibraphone has the main melody throughout the whole piece. It has been very fun to compose over the last couple years. I have learned a lot about chord progressions and melodies. I think my last piece really shows how I have progressed in my composing.
