Our place is in God's world is defined by two things: our relationship to Him, and our responsibility as citizens of His kingdom. In Jesus, we have been adopted as beloved children of God. It's from that place that we look to God the Father for direction and we respond in obedience; not as a means to receive love, but in response to it. Likewise, we are ambassadors of King Jesus. He has given us authority over powers of evil in this world. The more we learn to walk in that authority, the more of God's power we will see released against pain, oppression, and darkness in our midst.

Discovered by German researcher and author Heiko Bleher, the rummynose tetra is a beautiful silver fish with a bright red nose and a black and white striped tail. But alas, this is what they were named and there is nothing we can do about it. These fish can be found in South America, schooling in large groups and occasionally recruited by Santa to guide his sleigh during foggy Xmas Eves. Spoiler alert: this week we're analyzing the Twilight Zone episode “The Night of the Meek.” Henry Corwin, played by the great Art Carney, is a department store Santa with a big heart and a penchant for a bit of the drink. He loves children and the magic of Christmas, but more than anything, he just wishes that, for one Christmas, those who are in need of the most could be given the most. And when the Twilight Zone steps in, he realizes that he just might have been given his wish. In this episode, we're going to try and reconcile the commercialization of the holidays with gift-giving; we'll take a look at the relationship between substance abuse and the holiday season; and for my moment of awe, I'm going to bring in the man, the myth, the legend himself, Rod Serling, to talk about his favorite Christmas.
