Nicole Johnson has a lot of Motorsports experience and she's got an excellent YouTube channel called Nicole Johnson's detour. You probably have seen one of the videos her most popular is a 500 horse powered Subaru sleeper Bug. That video, her first one has over 10 million views. Since then she's built a Youtube channel where she seeks out unique cars to feature on her show, her motto is "I wanna drive everything". Last week (if you subscribed her channel parentheses which you should), you would've seen Zorba the Ghia featured on Nicole Johnson's Detour. My 1964 type 34 Karmann Ghia. This week we talked to Nicole and get all of her history. She actually raced 1600cc cars at one time. We talk about the process it takes to film the videos the way she looks for cars and trying to build a unique channel on YouTube. Lots of cool talk and if you're interested automotive shows this is a great one to listen to. Nicole also is known for her racing monster trucks for monster jam. She was a driver for the Scooby Doo monster truck. With a long history and rock, crawling, and offloading how she got selected to do that was pretty awesome.  Go subscribe to her YouTube channel today it's worth it. Companions, History and Heroism.By FinalStand. Listen to the Podcast at Explicit Novels. There are two distinct phases of falsehood. In the first, you realize you can lie to those closest to you. In the second, you realize you shouldn't.(And the stars continue to shine forth)"Stop trying to save me," Pamela remarked, once she was sure we were alone once more."Ask me to do something I'd at least consider doing," I sighed. "Let's go back to the party, I'm not sure where we are.""You've been walking in one big circle, Dummy," she chided me.Why was she letting me off the hook for walking off with the Grand Villain in the scheme of things? Well, if she started hitting me, she probably wasn't sure she could stop."One of these days I'm going to screw up and not get out of it," I noted sadly."That is the epitaph of anyone who has ever taken up a weapon and a cause," Pamela smiled.Maybe she wasn't angry with me."Why aren't you more pissed off?" I wondered."You are a good guy, Cáel," Pamela enlightened me. "That means you are going to reach out to people you think you can save. Personally, I don't think Alal can be, but then I'm biased.""Guy coming back from the dead?" I inquired."Damn right. No more surefire way to anger an assassin than to come back from the dead," she related. "Did you take note of his body?""Not really. What did I miss?" I requested."It didn't look right," Pamela shook her head. "Nothing more specific than that. I was hoping, since you touched him, you might have picked something else up.""Nope. I was too busy slipping a GPS locator on him," I grinned."You don't have one and the technology doesn't work that way, ya numbskull," she play slapped my left bicep."Wouldn't it be cool if it did?" my grin broadened."Laugh it up, Monkey-boy," Pamela countered. "Buffy would have you tagged like a mule deer in Yellowstone.""Eek," I gasped. "Point taken.""Well, " Pamela huffed."He's going to kill my soul," I observed. "Now I'm sure of it. All of that discussion was just gauging my personality so that when he offs me, he can become Cáel Nyilas / Wakko Ishara." Pause."Good for you," Pamela let go of a tense breath. She didn't have to ask."The whole Condottieri situation is a scam," I passed on that bit of information I'd first put together with the Vizsla. "It never left Granddad's control. Currently he's going to use various other factions to kill off the Condottieri and Illuminati leadership that oppose him, then it is Unity Time.""If he takes your place, that gives him leverage on the Amazon Council plus your appeal to the 9 Clans and the Earth  and  Sky," Pamela helped me work things through. "He couldn't get his hooks into the Egyptians because they knew too much about him. Matters of race stymied his efforts with the Earth  and  Sky and Seven Pillars.""Except I saved Temujin and he's been supplying them with weapons and tech for over fifty years," I told her. "Even when he was dead, his plan was working, he had predicted the path that warfare would take, invested wisely and left orders to implement his plans. When the time came, they were ready to take out the Seven Pillars.""Without you saving Temujin, the E and S wouldn't have cared, but you," Pamela nodded. "If it comes down to his coalition of Illuminati, Condottieri, Amazons and 9 Clans, the Egyptians will join him, Global Unification has been their goal all along," she continued. "Besides, you made one hell of a positive impression on them the only time you've met. Bang up job, Stud.""Temujin will join as well. He's anything but suicidal," I finished the roll call of my fate. We were almost back to the rave by this time. "You know, you could kill me and short-circuit all of this mess," I reminded her."No way. I plan to win, damn it," Pamela patted me on the back. "Save the Dum-sel in Disrepute, slay the Evil Warlord and re-retire with a boatload great-grandbabies to spoil.""I gave the Vizsla a clue," I let Pamela know the possible complications to her plan. "In 1847, one General of the Condottieri tried to have the Italian Black Hand kill another. Unfortunately, the victim in question was a puppet for Grandpa and the assassin team attacked them both. Because they saw his face, he hunted them back to their base and slaughtered the entire Verona Chapter house of the Wolf.""He must have fucked up a few other times as well," Pamela assured me. Speaking of miscalculations, Anya, Katalin and Orsi broke from the thrashing mob and ran up to me."Your crazy ex-girlfriend called," Anya seemed steamed. "She insisted must she talk to you." At first glance, it would be 'which crazy ex-GF', except only one had Anya's phone number. I took her phone."Bonjour, ma petite amie méchante ," I greeted Anais, the Mountie, in French. Yes, I was calling her a 'meanie'."Cáel, how are you? Where are you?" she was truly concerned. I didn't doubt her sincerity. I also didn't doubt she was convinced she knew what was best for me, as well."I've talked with the Hungarian Police too," I let my pique come through. "You screwed me over. I asked you to let me handled this and you didn't.""You are still a Jerk," she snapped. "I've been trying to help. And from the sounds of it, you are at a party.""It's a rave. It is a rave brought about by the police keeping people penned up in the town all afternoon. Now, if you would stop treating me like a freaking child, you would realize that I'm actually safer in a crowd than I am alone, holed-up in some room without a weapon because you've made it so that the TEK is now keeping a sharp eye on me," I retorted."Can't you tell I'm trying to help you?" she got loud, on the cusp of becoming enraged."Yes. I called you, asking for help. I also called to apologize, without making it sound like some lame stupid stunt to get you back. I'm in real trouble here and I've put other people in danger at the same time," I told her. And yes, I planned to get some 'Anais' when I got back to North America."I'm telling you," she persisted, "let Hungarian law enforcement help you.""I'm trying to make you understand," I countered, "that this is a situation that the police can't help me with. I called you because I believed I could trust you, even though you hate me.""I'm angry with you, Cáel. I don't hate you," she grumbled. "I am trying to help.""If I didn't believe that, I wouldn't still be talking to you, Anais," I allowed. "What did Timothy tell you?""Is that all you care about?" she grumbled."Actually, this is me trying not to be a selfish jackass," I said. "People are in danger because of me and I need to make sure they are safe before I take care of myself.""That's, very unlike you," Anais sounded unsure."I've been doing some growing up since graduation," I replied. "I only wish I'd grown smarter.""I, I'm sorry about your Papa," she quieted down."They gunned him down in his own home," I told her. "Dad never touched a gun in his life and they shot him with an assault rifle.""Oh, well, I understand your Federal Justice Department is investigating the matter," Anais tried to comfort me. "I talked with your Prosecutor Castello. She wouldn't tell me much.""Pity," I mumbled. "I know they are having difficulties.""It is an American problem," she noted."Not really," I sunk in my hooks. "We've been working with MI-6 and the CIA. They are all part of that international task force I told you about {see last chapter}.""Yes, how did you get Irish diplomatic status? That doesn't make any sense," she perked up. Anais liked puzzles. Actually, she liked solving conundrums. It made her a great cop."We are missing the party," Monika protested, in German."That's right. Tell your EX-girlfriend good-bye, Cáel," Anya insisted loudly."Who is that?" Anais groused."It is Anya, the Bulgarian mechanical engineer. We've had sex since you and I last talked and I think she's feeling a tad possessive," I explained.Pause."Bastard," Anais seethed. I was sure her cunt was twitching already. "Fine. I talked with your roommate, he says you have my uniform in a dress bag and my boots in a sealed box, so I forgive you. Anyway, he said Odette called, and she gave him a number to give to you."Since it didn't have 555 in it, I had hopes it was genuine. This was not the time to give Anais the quick kiss-off."I appreciate it, Anais," I sighed with relief. "Have you decided which restaurant you want to go to when I get back?""I haven't given it much thought, Cáel," I could feel her defrosting further. "How can I keep in touch with you?""Ugh, I don't have my own phone right now. Tomorrow I'm going to steal some means of conveyance and, " I grinned."Don't tell me that," Anais complained. "I'm still an officer of the law.""Well, the new 'me' is trying to be more honest with you, Anais. I've got to get out of town tomorrow. Would you rather I lied to you, again?" I confounded her."Well, no. Try to be careful, prends soin de mon amour," she sighed."I will call you as soon as I'm able. Thank you again," I signed off."I still say, 'that one' is confused about her 'ex' status," Orsi teased me."Do you know what is worse than having one woman save your soul?" I tossed out to them. They could not divine an answer. "Having three women do it at the same time, for different reasons. Now I believe we have a party starving for our attention."(Reunions)Pamela had convinced me the motorcycle driver who belonged to our newly acquired BMW K1600 GT would be at least four hours regaining consciousness and getting himself untied. We had stopped at a petrol station along the 431, between Kiszombor, Hungary and the Romanian border. She wanted to fuel up before the border crossing, in case things didn't work out, you know, with our guns and this stolen vehicle. She was already peeved that I'd stopped in Szeged to pick up a few pounds of paprika. Rumor had it that the fields around that stretch of the Tisza produced the highest quality of that spice on the planet, especially the sweet kind. Pamela pointed out I knew 'jack' about cooking. I agreed. What I did know was cooks, the female variety.Fresh spice from the 'source' was way better than a dozen roses, even with a box of chocolates added. Did I have a cook lined up in New York? No, but I was sure I could find one. Wait! Yasmin, my Brazilian, ex-Super Cop, hottie should be back in town by now. If she didn't cook, she'd definitely have a friend I could seduce.Honest to Ishara, I was starting to believe this constant 'work-work-work' was ruining my normally poor judgment where sex and fidelity were concerned.Pamela was getting some lunch for us while I gassed up my crotch-rocket. My luck kept being, exceptional. Two Hungarian motorcycle troopers showed up; both were women and they apparently had decided that I was worthy of attention. Hey, I'm good-looking, and I was wearing a ballistic vest. (The durability of my long coat wasn't so obvious.) "Nice bike," the first one, the one directly confronting me, said. "Thanks. It is a KT1600 GT, 2009," I smiled. "What are you two on?" "Yamaha FJR1300A's," she answered. I put up the nozzle, capped the tank and walked over to her conveyance. It was a really sweet ride. "You have a gun," she noted calmly. She and her partner both had their hands on their holstered weapons. Since the flaps were still down, I wasn't panicking. "Yes. More than one in fact," I kept pretending to look over her bike while I was really scoping her out. I'd nailed all six boat girls and then had the Macedonian babe for breakfast. So I still had three good sexual bangs in me before dusk and these two were nice and pleasant enough. "Do you have permits for those?" she asked. Her partner was calling something in. "Are we still in Hungary?" I mused. The question was a joke. "I believe we are," she smiled. Sure, I may have been a dangerous felon, but I was a nice looking and engaging one."Nope. I'm afraid not," I sighed. She understood my English. "Why are you so armed?" she kept calm. "Are you law enforcement somewhere?" "Does a secretive, non-governmental, paramilitary organization count?" "No," she sighed. "That sounds rather criminal. So, what are you carrying?" That was a nice way of saying 'give me your gun'."Left, right, back, or ankle?" I replied. "Which one do you want first?" "Let's try this again. Can I see some form of ID?" she remained rather comfortable despite this having to be the most bizarre traffic stop of her career."I'm reaching around to my right rear jean pocket for it," I related. Something dating Anais had taught me was that you always tell an on-duty cop what you are doing before you do it.She nodded, so I pulled out my NY Driver's license, my US passport and my Irish Diplomatic ID. She began looking them over. "You are Cáel Nyilas?" she looked over my documents. "If that who it says I am, then yes," I grinned. For a second, she was P-O'ed, then she realized I was playing with her. She snorted in amusement and returned to looking over my stuff.   "Nyilas is a Hungarian name," she hummed. "Székely," I clarified. "My family emigrated to America at the end of World War II. I've actually come back here to look over the homeland." "You couldn't land in Bucharest?" she handed me my ID back. "What?" I feigned an insult to my intellect. "Hungarian women are far prettier.""You don't appear to be Dortmund Schuyler," her partner looked me over.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson play Detectives David Starsky and Ken Hutchison in the 2004 Hollywood remake of Starsky and Hutch. They chase bad-buy-drug-lord Vince Vaughn across fictional Bay City in a hopped up '76 Gran Torino, painted Dodge Viper red with a beefed up small block Ford under the good. They get in a dance off, are accosted by Will Ferrell into acting like naked dragon riders, shoot a pony and a Karmann Ghia, all just to get to the bottom of the mysterious untraceable cocaine deal that Jason Bateman (Vaughn's henchman) is making happen. This movie is full of one liners, good cars, and a version of Huggy Bear played by Snoop Dogg that'll give you faith in the underworld. But best of all, it ends in a car chase littered with jumps across a golf course and (almost) landed on a yacht.   10 Striped Tomatoes all around! ======================================== Join up via Patreon at patreon.com/KFSHOW Kibbe, Corndog, and the Bern! Eric Meyer has been involved with Volkswagens for over 45 years. Starting with his first bus that he picked up when he was around 13 years old all through high school even into part-time jobs working on them. Loving the skateboard culture which goes hand-in-hand Volkswagens he wanted to have more of an impact in making skaters more identifiable. He gets himself a job at Vision Street Wear (more like creates himself a job). After a few years there decides to branch off on his own and start Simple shoe company. In order to do that he was sacrificed some of his Karmann Ghia's for seed money to start his new shoe company. On a wing and a prayer he shows up to the first action sports clothing event and hits a home run. This is a great story about the persistence and determination that is indicative in every VW enthusiast. As you'll find out Eric's had quite a few VW's and a lot of them that you'll remember. It's a great story and lots of cool history.    Share the show here https://www.letstalkdubs.com/showtime.html Review the podcast here

In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 80 of Owner Stories with Miguel from San Francisco in the U.S. Growing up in the Bay Area in California Miguel was immersed in car culture. Although he saw a lot of cars, he didn't see a lot of Porsches. Miguel was around more of the muscle cars of the time, including Mustangs. His first encounter with Porsche was when he was in High School in the early ‘80's. He was driving his first car, a VW rabbit, and passed an auto shop with Porsches and Mercedes – he had to go back and take a second look. Miguel's first experience in a Porsche was when he was taken for a drive in a 911SC, a car he found raw and aggressive. To date, Miguel has owned over 40 cars and 35 motorcycles. Not only that he has held three racing licenses. Some of his standout cars along the way include the VW rabbit, hot-rodded Karmann Ghia, Datsun roadster, Mercedes 500E, BMW 2800, BMW M5, Mercedes C63-P31 package, Mazda Miata NA and his first Porsche, a 1985 911 Carrera. Miguel's 1967 Datsun roadster was the car that introduced him to track days and racing. Miguel has a long history in the Northern California motorsports scene. Miguel got back into Porsche in 2019. His current Porsche is a 2008 997 Turbo Tiptronic. This is a car which he uses regularly as track weapon, long distance tourer and as a daily driver on the streets of San Francisco. As you will hear, Miguel loves to modify his cars. His current 911 Turbo is no exception, it now has modified suspension for track usage among other enhancements. Miguel mentions he likes to add his mods incrementally so he can measure the changes on the track. In saying that his 997.1 Turbo is now well sorted. Welcome back to the PorscheCooled Podcast. Dr. Gerald Drose was born and raised in Charleston, SC in a tight-knit family. His father coached him in sports throughout his life and his mother worked as a playground director. Though he had a very active and playful childhood, he recalls that he was a little lost in his early adulthood. In this podcast interview, he explains how he found himself in a graduate program in clinical psychology and how his experiences inspired him to write his first novel “Bird Gotta Land: The Education of a Young Psychologist” which is loosely based on his time in graduate school. As a licensed psychologist with over 32 years of experience, Dr. Drose offers advice to those interested in the field of psychology and to those who want to start their own practice. He met his wife, Dina Zeckhausen, in grad school and explains why they founded Powers Ferry Psychological Associates. He discusses how they have grown from one location with 3 therapists to 4 locations with over 30 clinicians mainly through hard work, organic growth, and by providing a variety of assessment, psychotherapy, and special services. Dr. Drose highlights the importance of being fully present and alive in all of your life experiences and with clients. He states “…so you know psychotherapy is about landing, or becoming mindful…” and “…when you kind of feel like you understand, even if it's a myth that you understand but you tell yourself you understand, you become mindful, you become more centered.” He also reminds us that there is an incredible need for psychotherapy and that this need “has grown exponentially” in recent years. Therefore, if you are interested in the field of psychology, get started now to help meet the need for more psychotherapists. Though Dr. Drose shares parts of his personal and professional journey to becoming a practicing psychologist in this podcast, we learn more about his experiences in his book through powerful and complex character development. We learn about the protagonist, Stephen, a graduate student in clinical psychology as well as the story lines surrounding his father, his young son, and his budding relationship with his girlfriend. The reader also gets drawn in to learn about his professors, classmates, and landlords. As an added bonus, we learn more about the game of softball and the color of his Karmann Ghia convertible. Those embarking on a graduate degree in psychology, going through psychotherapy, or simply on their own journey of self-awareness and personal growth will benefit from reading “Bird Gotta Land.” Connect with Dr. Gerald Drose: Facebook | LinkedIn | Twitter | WebsiteConnect with the Show: Facebook | LinkedIn | Twitter https://vimeo.com/637141210 Interests and Specializations Dr. Gerald S. After a brief introduction, Robert takes a moment to marvel at the sheer number of Volkswagens that were produced (1:14) before Russell dives into the unexpected history of the 'people's car'...specifically the Beetle (3:02). Then Robert asks Russell to drill into the history of Volkwagen after the British involvement following WW2 with a man named Heinz Nordhoff (7:19) and VW's efforts to go international and the difficulties in sharing the Beetle's new style with other cultures (8:50). Then Russell examines the complex shared history of Porsche and Volkswagen and how the companies have continued their relationship to the present day (10:49). Before taking a short break, Robert asks Russell for his advice on the most collectible Volkswagens (13:07). Robert takes a brief detour to discuss the more obscure makes and models created by Volkswagen--like the Karmann Ghia (15:57) before steering the conversation back to the Volkswagen's arrival in America (18:41) and the creation and impact of the VW Bus (22:52). To conclude, the two men speculate on the future of the Beetle and Bus designs in Volkwagen's legacy (27:36). Show #842   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Friday 17th July 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   HYUNDAI KONA ELECTRIC GLOBAL SALES REACH MILESTONE OF 100,000 "Hyundai Kona Electric has just reached the milestone of 100,000 global sales in just over two years since its market launch in March 2018. As of June 30, 2020, 103,719 Kona Electric were sold. More than three-quarters of the total outside of its home market - South Korea." says InsideEVs: "There should be no problem increasing the sales of Kona Electric beyond 60,000 this year, compared to less than 50,000 in 2019. The goal for Hyundai by 2025 is to gradually increase battery-electric car sales to 560,000 annually."   The Kona is now made in Czech Republic about 235 miles east of Prague, 30,000 cars in first year. Batteries coming from LG Chem and SKI in Poland and Hungary.   TESLA GIGAFACTORY NEVADA NOW PRODUCES 13 MILLION BATTERY CELLS PER DAY "The science channel got access to Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada for their new show ‘Super Factories’ – giving us a rare new look inside the plant." says Electrek today: "When originally announcing the plan for the factory, Tesla was talking about the plant producing 105 GWh of battery cells per year and 150 GWh of battery packs per year once completed. However, the factory is currently about 30% complete and Tesla hasn’t expanded the facility for years as both the automaker and Panasonic have focused on optimizing the current production capacity. Also, there are a few nice tidbits of information. For example, they say that the current production capacity stands at 13 million individual cells per day. At ~17 Wh per cell, that’s 221 MWh of battery cells per day or 80 GWh per year, which would be a big increase from the latest disclosed official capacity at Gigafactory Nevada."   Teslarati notes: "Rare footage of the battery cell manufacturing process was also highlighted in the Super Factories segment. This includes the massive, elaborate conveyor systems that the company utilizes for its battery cell manufacturing. A look at batteries seemingly being assembled for a Powerwall battery unit was also included in the feature. Interestingly enough, the segment also mentioned that Gigafactory Nevada is capable of producing around 13 million cells per day. "   https://electrek.co/2020/07/16/tesla-gigafactory-nevada-battery-cell-production/   https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-giga-nevada-battery-cell-production-line-deep-dive-video/   STUDY SHOWS IMPRESSIVE RESALE VALUE FOR MODEL 3 A recent study showed some impressive resale figures for the Tesla Model 3, saying the sedan holds its value more than five times better than other EVs.  Car search engine iSeeCars.com analyzed more than 6.9 million car sales to identify models with the greatest loss in value after three years.  The three available Tesla vehicles currently in production with used car versions available all have below-average depreciation for the segment." reports TeslaMotorsClub.com: "The report said one reason Teslas defy the high depreciation of the EV segment is because over-the-air software updates help keep even the older versions current. As such, consumers are likely willing to pay higher prices for the Model S and Model X than what they are willing to pay for other used luxury vehicles, the report found.   https://teslamotorsclub.com/blog/2020/07/16/study-shows-impressive-resale-value-for-model-3/   VOLKSWAGEN TRADEMARKS E-BEETLE AND OTHER CLASSIC E-VW NAMES "They’d be fools not to consider it, and it now looks like maybe, just maybe, they weren’t fools after all, as a member of the VWIDTalk forum found evidence that Volkswagen has reserved the European trademarks for e-Beetle as well as some other air-cooled era classics." says Jalopnik; "Along with the e-Beetle, VW has reserved e-Samba, which may be used as the official name for the reborn electric Microbus currently known as the ID Buzz, along with the e-Karmann (likely an electric small sports car, perhaps a convertible, like the original Karmann-Ghia), and, maybe the most questionably, the e-Kübel. Of course, just reserving trademarks isn’t an indicator that a company is actually planning to build cars with those trademarked names, but it’s certainly a step. "   https://jalopnik.com/volkswagen-trademarks-e-beetle-and-other-classic-e-vw-n-1844407434   VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA OPENS NEXT-GEN CHARGING STATION AT ARIZONA GLOBAL TEST CENTER Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) has opened one of the most extensive electric vehicle charging stations at a North American test facility. This next-generation charging station at its Arizona Proving Grounds will be used to help VWGoA evaluate battery and charging performance under extreme hot-weather conditions. Engineers will also receive real time data to see how various chargers compare. The 50-space charging station is located at VWGoA’s global test facility in Maricopa, AZ—one of two worldwide, Group-wide hot-weather test facilities—and will allow the charging of EVs in weather conditions up to 120 degrees. Twenty-five DC fast chargers, with variable power outputs from the most commonly used charger power today at 50 kilowatts (kW) all the way up to 350kW, can charge capable EVs at speeds up to 20 miles per minute. Ten Level 2 AC chargers will also be used at the facility to simulate typical, home-based charging. The chargers will utilize charge plugs from the three standard connector types: U.S. (CCS1), Europe (CCS2) and China (GB-T). All charging equipment comes from different brands from around the world to maximize testing variability.   AUDI E-TRON IS WORLD MARKET LEADER IN ITS SEGMENT   The Audi e-tron is the worldwide market leader in its segment. The first fully electric series production model from Audi is popular all over the world with customers and media alike.  With the e-tron GT, the Q4 e-tron, and the Q4 Sportback e-tron, Audi is looking toward an electric year 2021 in both senses of the word. In the first half of 2020, Audi delivered 17,641 e-tron models to customers worldwide. This corresponds to an increase of 86.8 percent as compared to the previous year – despite the difficult market situation due to the coronavirus pandemic. The fully electric Audi model is therefore way ahead of its competitors in the full-size battery electric vehicle SUV segment worldwide. It is even the overall top-selling electric SUV in Europe. The Audi e-tron is highly sought after in the Scandinavian market in particular. In Norway, which is the pioneering country when it comes to electric mobility, it was the top-selling passenger-car model in the first half of the year. The e-tron makes up 92 percent of the volume of Audi models delivered in Norway. It also makes up a significant portion of deliveries in Iceland (93 percent), Sweden (12 percent), and Israel (14 percent). In the USA, the e-tron has recorded an increase in sales by more than 50 percent as compared to the previous year. [Audi] will be launching the Audi e-tron GT. Performance and an expressive design are the most important ingredients for the e-tron GT. It thereby emphasizes the sportiness of the brand and continues the success story of the Audi e-tron together with the electric Q models.   https://www.audi-mediacenter.com/en/press-releases/audi-e-tron-is-world-market-leader-in-its-segment-12967   MCKINSEY FINDS 7 OF 10 CHINA EVS POTENTIALLY PROFITABLE "The management consultancy McKinsey has disassembled and analysed ten popular electric cars from Chinese manufacturers for a new study. From this, the consultants derived some interesting statements on possible profits and the market prospects of international manufacturers." says Electrive: "For the study entitled “How to drive winning battery-electric-vehicle design”, popular electric cars from Chinese production were analysed, both from established groups such as SAIC and the GM brand Buick, as well as from start-ups such as Nio or World Champions. In the analysis, the experts also found that there is still no “silver bullet” in the design and procurement of electric drive components for Chinese BEVs, as is the case for European models. For two of the ten vehicles, all components were developed in-house, for three all drive components were purchased, and five chose a middle course of in-house development and outsourcing. There are also different approaches to battery designs, as well as to the networking and integration of the drive systems."   https://www.electrive.com/2020/07/13/mckinsey-analysis-finds-7-of-10-chinese-evs-potentially-profitable/   FISKER TRYING TO SECURE VOLKSWAGEN'S MEB PLATFORM FOR THE OCEAN " One key piece of info is that Fisker is in talks with Volkswagen about using VW's MEB modular electric platform and ancillary components for the Ocean. The agreement would include battery packs as well." says Autoblog: "Furthermore, this attempt at deeper collaboration with VW is part of a two-year growing partnership. The Verge went through the presentation, noting that Fisker and VW entered a memorandum of understanding in 2017, upgrading that to a "collaboration agreement" in 2018. Audi subsidiary Italdesign built the Ocean crossover Fisker debuted at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, the prototype described as a "near-series prototype" and sitting an MEB platform. This month, the two companies could sign a "cornerstone agreement" to formalize "costs, production capacity, and a timeline." Pete Long visited the Blue Vanguard Jazz Club on February 27th 2020. He recorded this conversation and tunes with Craig, Coach and for one night only Jim Rintoul and bass. Pete's career began fairly inauspiciously at the age of 18 deep within the bowels of the Nat West bank in Marble Arch putting bank statements into envelopes. An unfortunate incident involving a picture of a lady and a horse being accidentally sent to the Convent of the Sacred Heart along with their financial records led to a re-think and a few days later, Pete had enrolled at the Royal London College Of Music. After a couple of years of hard study, ruthless self-denial and curry, Pete was out on the road with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and during his time there, got to play all five saxophone parts, the solo flute part, the bass guitar, and on one rather messy occasion, the fourth trumpet. Having the unusual inclination to play modern jazz on the rather “old-fashioned” clarinet led to several works for clarinet and big band being commissioned during his stay, and established a tradition of clarinet solos in NYJO which has plagued the saxophone section ever since. After the apprenticeship had been served, fame and endless riches were only around the corner in the form of the John Simons Rhumba Showband on the QE2, and Pete's orange frilly flamenco shirtsleeves and sassy sombrero became one of the familiar sights in the bars, clubs and clinics around the ports of the Caribbean Sea. At this time, Pete acquired the knack of bandleading, assembling ad-hoc ensembles on the ship for various passenger and crew functions. Serious playing work followed on the return to Blighty, as the award winning Sax Quartet Itchy Fingers had a job going on Alto Sax. Pete passed the audition, and toured Brazil, Venezuela, North Africa, Russia and Europe during his three year stay there, working with, amongst others, Dizzy Gillespie, John Scofield, Chick Corea and Supersax. Due to an inspired bit of orchestral management by “a friend”, The bulk of Pete's work for the next six years was in and around the West End theatres, where his versatility on many different woodwind instruments stood him in good stead, most notably on the notorious Clarinet solo in the closing sequences of the hit show Oliver. In recent years, Pete has returned to bandleading at the head of an organisation called the Echoes Of Ellington. This is a 21 piece band which sets out to re-create the Duke Ellington sound by using original manuscripts from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, and has achieved great critical acclaim and commercial success. Recently, Pete's skills developed as front man for the Echoes Of Ellington have led him to presenting Big Band Special, the weekly magazine show for big band buffs on BBC Radio 2, and talking on the early morning news review on GLR. Pete was recently involved in live and studio work with Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, the BBC Radio Big Band, arranging for and directing the poll-winning 9;20 De-Luxe. 10-piece swing band and re-creating the music of Dizzy Gillespie in quintet and big band formats. In the course of playing with Jools, Pete has worked with a diversity of popular icons from Vinnie Jones to Lionel Richie and The Blind Boys Of Alabama to Sting. Working with Jools Holland has also enabled Pete to arrange music for Sir Paul McCartney, Chrissie Hinde, Jane Horrocks, Ray Davies and the unique talents of Marianne Faithfull! The famous oboe intro on "Handbags and Gladrags" by the Stereophonics is also Pete's work, and a recent high was playing solo baritone saxophone in Dr John's UK band. In his spare time, he makes Airfix planes in his garden shed and is restoring an old Karmann Ghia.   Thank you to Yamaha UK for the above

Jim and Teal are back with their self-proclaimed 35th episode of Stuff We've Seen. And coincidentally, Quentin Tarantino is also back with his self-proclaimed 9th film, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. And not to be left out of the fun, The Willennial is back for another guest appearance. Did he get his mic situation fixed this time? This episode is all about director Quentin Tarantino, and focuses on Jim, Teal, and Will's experiences seeing Tarantino's films, especially his latest. Jim got to check it out in 35mm, while Teal and Will had to settle for local theater digital projection. Who loved the film? Who had some issues with it? Does Tarantino have anything to say with his latest offering? Jim and Teal dive head-first into some of the controversies: The Bruce Lee scene, the lack of dialogue for Margot Robbie's, Sharon Tate, and all those bare feet shots. It's a long episode, but so are Tarantino films. Jump into your Karmann Ghia, take a drive down the canyon, and turn out your podcast listener, and get set for the ultimate movie hangout episode. WARNING!! THIS EPISODE CONTAINS PLOT SPOILERS FOR THE FILM ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM YET, PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THE EPISODE.

Disclaimer: James picked this one. James said "Hey Sid, we're doing Pretty in Pink on our next episode of Reels and Wheels!" Sid took the challenge seriously and used a request that could have ended a friendship as a opportunity to prove there's nothing he wouldn't do for his beloved co-host. Pretty in Pink is a horrid, vapid train wreck of a movie fraught with heavy-handed symbolism and human caricatures fighting cliched battles. The only redeeming quality James and Sid could agree on was that James Spader does an awesome job playing a douche. Was it worth it? Was James justified in making Sid watch this metaphoric coffee stain on the brat pack tuxedo? Is the Karmann Ghia the perfect car for Molly Ringwald's Andie? Would she even have a car?!
