Hitler was elected democratically and consolidated his dictatorship after seizing power. Donald Trump just won a fair election. Is he plotting to subvert American democracy? There are signs that suggest “yes.” Presidents may only serve two terms, yet Trump repeatedly suggests that he ought to run and win a third term. A “Third Term Project” was announced at CPAC. This past week, Trump called himself “The King” and quoted the French Emperor Napoleon, who argued, “He who saves his country does not violate any law.”More materially, Trump fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and two other top military officers. He will be replaced with a MAGA loyalist. History shows that the military is key to a successful coup d'état or revolution. And Trump has a strong reason to want to stay in office: if and when he steps down, he again becomes vulnerable to criminal charges. Is it 1933 in Germany? Have you ever pondered whether your holiday celebrations truly reflect the essence of Christ's teachings? This episode of the American Soul Podcast challenges us to rethink our priorities during the holiday season. By putting God at the center of our daily routines, we can reshape the dynamics within our homes and influence how others perceive relationships. Through the lens of history, we revisit Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1933 Christmas message, which serves as a timeless reminder of the enduring power of love and compassion. This episode isn't just about reflection; it's about making proactive choices in our attitudes and actions. We discuss how adopting a positive outlook can transform ordinary tasks from burdens into blessings. Remembering historical hardships and sacrifices provides inspiration to love our neighbors genuinely, embodying the true spirit of Christmas. Listen as we explore how a shift in perspective can alleviate stress and lead to a more fulfilling life for our families, marriages, and our nation as a whole. 1933 was a watershed year for global events, yet it is only in retrospect that these things are obviously apparent. Some people alive during that time saw the ‘writing on the wall' while many, or even most, did not fully appreciate the importunity of their times. We who find ourselves alive here in 2024 stand at a similar tipping point, with many ‘asleep at the switch' as ominous global events and indicators relentlessly fire away. Students of Bible prophecy know the supreme importance of the Jews and trials during 1933, and what that might mean for us here today. On this episode of the NTEB Prophecy News Podcast, we look at the sickening events unfolding across college campuses in America and Europe right now, where massive protests are calling for an end to the nation of Israel, and for ‘death to the Zionists'. The encampment at Columbia University has been among the most militant of the dozens that have spring up at university campuses across the nation, with pro-terror and antisemitic rhetoric rampant. Jewish students report being harassed by participants and excluded from entry, so much so that a Columbia rabbi encouraged them to leave campus for their own safety. The Columbia encampment has also tried, without any authority to do so, to keep out journalists. Today we look at what's happening across America and around the world to ‘connect the dots' to Bible prophecy regarding the Jews and the coming WWIII.
Ja.

Drive-in Movie Day is celebrated on the anniversary of the opening of the first patented drive-in movie theater. On June 6, 1933, Richard Hollingshead opened this drive-in theater, Park-in Theaters, in Pennsauken Township, close to Camden, New Jersey. The year before he had experimented in his driveway by putting a 1928 Kodak projector on his car hood, pinning a sheet to trees, and placing a radio behind the screen. He thought about ways to combat rain and how to space cars so everyone had a view. When his theater opened he charged 25 cents per car and 25 cents per person, but made sure no group paid more than a dollar. Four hundred cars could fit at the theater and the screen measured 40 by 50 feet. The first film shown was Wife Beware starring Adolphe Menjou. I will be joined by April Wright! April Wright is an American writer, director and producer. Her debut narrative feature as a writer and director, Layover, won the Silver Lei Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival. We will discuss her film, Back To the Drive-In: The drive-in theater was a staple of post-World War II American life, especially teenage life. It even showed up in horror films where teenagers necking in their cars by the flickering light of movie screens were menaced by monsters and aliens. The drive-in was on the decline for many decades, but had a brief resurgence during the coronavirus pandemic because the open-air setting satisfied the urge to go see a movie without risking exposure.
The NFL was officially established in 1920, but a REAL playoff and championship game was actually played on December 17th, 1933 at Chicago's Wrigley Field with a crowd of 26,000 to see the Chicago Bears and the NY Giants. Joinhost John Spoulos as we relive that game that set in motion Championship games of the the future to the present.

Happy New Year! We decided to kick off 2023 right by focusing our attention on a pair of films that at once signal disastrous ends and new beginnings, all yoked with the tempered romance of yesteryears: Duck Soup and Big Fish. But before we double dip, we navigate a Blue Plate Special slate focused on three thought-provoking new releases, ranging from whodunit Glass Onion, the profane epic Babylon, and finally the long awaited adaptation of Don DeLillo's White Noise. In moving forward though, this episode's subject films send us scrambling for the old way-back machine: listen as we delight in the Depression-era hijinks of the Marx Brothers and celebrate the last excellent effort from Tim Burton before we preview perhaps the strangest, most downright shocking double feature in Overlapping Dialogue history. Between 1933 and 1934, a man and his gangs robbed their way thru twenty-four banks and four police stations across the midwest. He was arrested and put in jail and prison several times. He escaped twice. He was charged, but not convicted of a murder, and he was adored by the public for his personality and charm. When his crime spree came to an end, he'd changed the landscape of the Bureau of investigation—soon to be the FBI—forever. He'd stolen over seven million dollars in today's money, but that was nothing compared to what the FBI spent trying to catch him. In the end, he was shot and killed on the streets of Chicago—or was he? This is the story of famed gangster, John Dillinger. Apparently we should be punching nazis at home, but it is perfectly acceptable, in fact morally necessary, to fund them overseas. Although Ukraine has underplayed the role of the Azov battalion, which uses the neo-Nazi Wolf's Hook, they have accepted their assistance for years in combatting Russia. Azov just this week also met with US representatives at the Capitol while a recent German news broadcast showed a Ukrainian tank with a swastika, and other photos of civilians with Nazi tattoos have been circulated by Reuters. After recent denials, mainstream media had to eventually admit that Putin was right, that he was attempting “demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine”, aiming to “protect people” who had been subject to “bullying and genocide.” However, news outlets simultaneously claim it is impossible for Nazis to be roaming free since Volodymyr Zelenskyy is Jewish. But what most don't understand is that Nazis were behind the establishing of modern Israel through the 1933 Haavara Agreement. The Balfour Declaration in 1917 established the same policy for the United Kingdom. Real Jews have been used as shields to advance political agendas aimed at reshaping the Middle East and Europe, while raking in ungodly amounts of reparation money to finance the operations. Something similar is happening in Ukraine.

In 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt inherits a nation amidst The Great Depression, but around the world, fascist powers gain footholds. FDR begins to shape foreign policy through a series of addresses that connect the American people to the president in an unprecedented way, threading the needle between readying the nation for war and appeasing isolationists. This week's episode, hosted by Museum Historian Dr. Stephanie Hinnershitz and produced by Digital Content Manager Bert Hidalgo, examines the lead-up to World War II through the lens of American policy as FDR attempts to prepare a nation for war. Referencing the dangers the Axis powers contained and threatened humanity as a whole, the title for this week's episode comes from FDR's 1937 speech following reports of brutality by Japanese troops in China.

A poorly designed law that works and an expertly designed drink that sucks. When Prohibition was repealed in 1933 American drinkers had a lot of catching up to do. Tastes had changed and big brewers took note, cutting costs and striking ingredients until Americans were left with a low ABV bubbly bread soup that tasted vaguely like something they half-remembered. Flash forward to today and Lite Beer is one of the most well-designed products on the planet, while Americans are still untangling an ungainly patchwork of laws leftover from the bad old prohibition days. It begs the question: what does it mean to make something well?

The 1900s are here, and it is a time for change in Europe. Calvacade follows two different families over the first three decades of the 20th century, for better or for worse. Their stories intertwine with achievement (Louis Bleriot's flight over the English Channel), tragedy (the voyage of the Titanic) and war (both the Boer War and World War I). Combining the class commentary of Downton Abby and the time-hopping of Cimmaron, Cavalcade offers an early (and at times depressing) review of the 20th Century.Cinema Cemetary will need to decide if this film is a Cavalcade...or a Cataclysm.Music by Chaz HearneCurrent Rankings:5.

Many American states are now embracing the idea that the laws should be changed to legalize killing a patient in the name of compassion but this is a very ominous change. Commissioner Johnston reads an article that appeared in the New York Times in 1933. The the new national-Socialist government of Germany had proposed the compassionate killing of incurable patients. This small beginning was the origin of the human holocaust that spread from incurable “Aryans” to defective Germans, then to unwanted races like the Jews, the gypsies, and the Poles. Killing human beings in the name of compassion is a very bad idea. The group targeted for such compassionate elimination always seems to grow. Air Date: N/A

Here's a classic old episode that seems to be mislabeled in most archives, and show listings. The date that it is usually listed as November 17, 1935. Here's why this is the wrong date. The sponsor is Chevrolet. Beginning with the 1935 season, Jello began it's long run as sponsor. Chevrolet started around the end of January, or the beginning of March 1933. There's a gap there where no shows are listed, so it's fuzzy as to when the sponsors changed hands. Chevrolet then went on to sponsor the show until April 1934, when General Tire took over. Therefore the date is sometime between late January 1933 and April 1934. In the show, Jack refers to a recent visit to Waukegan for his birthday. This puts the show in either February 1933, or 1934. There is actually a run of shows that are preserved from the final months of the Chevrolet sponsorship, including ones from February. This isn't one of them. The last known show that the original sponsor, Canada Dry, ran was on January 26, 1933. The first known show for Chevrolet is listed as March 3, 1933. This doesn't necessarily mean there were no shows in this gap, just none that are listed. It would make sense though, that this episode is really from February 17, 1933. It doesn't fit anywhere else in the run of the Jack Benny show. The cast members, and other topical conversation also fits with this period. Whew! With all that said, here's what the show is about.

Fred Allen - Comedian, Radio Personality Born: May 31, 1894 Fred Allen, who comically feuded with Jack Benny on the air for years, invented an entirely new form of radio comedy which consisted of lampooning current events, making fun of his sponsors, and presenting skits that featured a cast of memorable recurring characters. Allen was born John Florence Sullivan on May 31st, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of a bookbinder and storyteller. He became interested in comedy after finding a book on its history in his father's shop, and he taught himself to juggle by reading a book on the subject by the age of eighteen he was appearing in vaudeville as a juggler and comedian. A successful engagement at the Palace in 1919 led to many Broadway shows, including The Passing Show of 1922, where he met his future wife and radio co-star, Portland Hoffa. He made the transition to radio with The Lint Bath Club Revue, which premiered October 23rd, 1932 on CBS and moved to NBC in 1933. Allen's perfectionism led him to move from sponsor to sponsor. His shows, for which he wrote much of the material himself, included The Salad Bowl Revue (1933), The Sal Hepatica Revue (1933-34), The Hour of Smiles (1934-35), and Town Hall Tonight (1935-40). The Fred Allen Show, his last series, ran from 1942 to 1949. His funniest and most popular regular sketch, "Allen's Alley," premiered on Sunday, December 6th, 1942. It featured Allen strolling along, knocking on the doors of various characters, including average American John Doe (played by John Brown), pompous poet Falstaff Openshaw (Allan Reed), and boisterous southern senator Beuregard Claghorn (announcer Kenny Delmar).
